kito333
I just booked my King of the Ring 1991 PPV: ©Hulk Hogan def. Roddy Piper - WWF Title This was a face vs. face match. Both men had been dealing with Randy Savage and Sid Justice as of late, and Hot Rod got the title shot at King of the Ring. Good match, both guys shake hands afterwords. Round 1: Undertaker def. Mr. Perfect DiBiase def. Jake the Snake Savage def. British Bulldog Ultimate Warrior def. Sid Justice Round 2: Savage def. Undertaker Warrior def. DiBiase Finale: Savage def. Warrior The Tournament was not a great success. The odd face/heel combinations hurt a few matches. The returning Mr. Perfect (drug suspension) lost and will most likely get knocked down to the uppermidcard. Taker continues his rise to the top. Warrior and Savage continue their long feud. Nikita Koloff def. Sgt. Slaughter - Flag Match I am working Slaughter down the card and will most likely end his run at WrestleMania. Nikita returned over the summer and has been in the IC hunt, but now is doing well in a main event feud. Heading into SummerSlam we got an influx of former WCW stars coming over and I cant wait to work with them and see where we go.
Dawn
But...Savage defeating Warrior in the KOTR tournament? This is strange, but great
kito333
Yea I want to build up this Savage/Sid relationship. Sid has been interfering giving Savage some big wins, and I am thinking Sid may turn on Savage soon... we will see.
Stennick
I think you should have used the KOTR to build up younger guys, treat it more like pushing the NEXT guy to the IC/WHC level. Instead of using Savage and Warrior who are both former WWF Champions at that point and the only other two men other than Hogan to hold the title in dang near ten years at that point. Great main event but in my opinion and only mine its a waste of the KOTR tournament when those two could have easily main evented the show and still had two young lions so to speak in the KOTR finals. My rule is if they've ever held the WWF title, they can't enter the KOTR tournament. Then I have the winner face the champion at Summer Slam. kito333
My mindset was that this is the first year that the King of the Ring has its own PPV and it should be seen as a huge deal to win, the same as the Royal Rumble. I am also awarding the KotR a title shot at SummerSlam, which fits right into my two or three main feuds right now. Remember that in 1991 the winner of the Royal Rumble did not headline WrestleMania, so in my game the KotR winner getting a title shot is seen as a fairly revolutionary idea. I also had Savage build up Sid Justice the last three month or so and wanted to give him a big boost going into SummerSlam. I totally understand all of your thoughts on using it to build young guys, I just wanted to use it more like the Royal Rumble is today and give a very big star a title shot.

I plan on having an international tournament later this year to help build my midcard of Rick Martel, Hitman, Bulldog, Razor Ramon, Nikita Koloff, Yokozona, Sgt. Slaughter, and some younger up and comers.

juggaloninjalee
I am downloading this now due to a Facebook post I saw that had a few hypothetical questions the last few days about this period.

1 was what do you think would have happened with the Ultimate Warrior had he stuck around in the WWF.

The other was who was the best WCW champion and they thought it was Vader. Would he have stayed a huge star if he never left to the WWF a few years later?

So I may run a game as Eric Bischoff as President of WCW and as Vince McMahon as owner of WWF. Might be fun.
mrwhippy
Warrior dug his own grave. No doubt he was a star and would have been champion a lot more but rubbing off the wrong way on everyone backstage is going to have its consequences eventually. If this wasn't the case and he did have a long run, we'd probably be talking about him in the same breath as Hogan. Same thing with Vader. He didn't jump to WWF, he was fired by Bischoff for fighting (Orndorff springs to mind). I think he went back to Japan for a year or two before Vince brought him in. No doubt he was a star man for WCW in the 1992-94 period but again attitude problems cost him.
Beejus
Vader would have continued being if not "the" but "a" dominant man in WCW if not for two things: Hulk Hogan, and the debut of Paul Wight. When he finally got around to him, Hogan obliterated Vader in their feud, making him look so second-rate that it's no wonder they tried to turn him face afterward. And then when The Giant debuted, there was a new guy being the huge, menacing heel to contend with. I don't know if there would have been enough room at the top for both of them. And yes, Vader was fired for the fight with Orndorff. He was picked up by the WWF almost immediately, and in 98 left them, eventually heading for Japan.... because of Shawn Michaels. justtxyank
Vader was in the process of being rebuilt, this time as the bad mudda face. He would have continued being a main event player for WCW until the nWo showed up.

He was also older than people realize.

Big Vader mark, but he really couldn't do much beyond brawling at the end of 96.
