WCW Uncensored 1996

March 17th, 1996

Held at: The Palace of Auburn Hills in Auburn Hills, Michigan (Great Lakes)

Commentary: Tony Schiavone and Jesse “The Body” Ventura

Attendance: 24,276 (sold out!)

Show Runtime: Two Hours and Forty-Five Minutes

Rating: B

PPV Buyrate: 4.90

This show increased our popularity in 21 regions.

After a short video displaying some of the big matches tonight, we go into The Palace to Tony Schiavone and Jesse “The Body” Ventura! Tony welcomes us to the show this evening, which he says promises to the be “the most unsanctioned, unauthorized, and unbelievable night of the year!” They discuss the main event this evening, a steel cage match for the World Heavyweight title between Dustin Rhodes and “Macho Man” Randy Savage. Jesse says that this may well be the night of the Kings of Wrestling, as he is unsure about if the cage can keep other people at bay – namely one who we don't know her true alleigance. Tony feels that if “The Natural” can keep his head, then he should be able to win the day and retain the title. Tony sends us to the interview area, where “Mean” Gene Okerlund and “Professor” Mike Tenay are standing by. Gene and Tenay also throw their support, towards Savage and Rhodes respectively, before talking about how (when he isn't joining Tony for commentary later) Tenay will be manning the WCW Live broadcast, where fans can talk to their favorite superstars after their match through the world wide web; also, Gene will have some exclusive interviews later this evening as well. With that, we go back out to the commentary table, where Tony sends us to Gary Michael Cappetta to introduce our first contest for 1996's WCW Uncensored!

WCW World Television Championship – Triangle Match

Chris Candido w/Tammy Lynn vs. Booker T vs. “Lionheart” Chris Jericho w/The Warlord

Time Limit: 20:00

Referee: Nick Patrick

Tony and Jesse send us right into the action as the World Television title is on the line! Tony talks about how great a champion Candido has been since winning the belt from Eddy Guerrero a few months ago, but Jesse dismissively chalks it up to “a combination of luck and good fortune from his girlfriend on the outside.” Candido proves himself here though, as he willingly takes the fight right to Booker T as Jericho takes his time getting into the ring, instead jawing with fans on the outside. Booker comes back with a strong sidekick, but Jericho pulls Booker out of the pinning predictament in order to make sure that he doesn't win off of that. Candido rolls Booker up out of nowhere, but again Jericho slips into the ring long enough to break it up, before exiting again. At this point, both Candido and Booker have had enough of this, and they leave the ring to close Jericho in! The trap doesn't get sprung however, as Warlord stands in Candido's way, giving Jericho a chance to leap into the ring to escape. He catches Booker by surprise with a springboard dropkick when he gets on the ring apron, and then begins to assault the champion in the ring. “Lionheart” effectively cuts the ring off, aggravating Booker by keeping him outside the ring while he does damage to Candido on the inside. Booker finally breaks free of this holding pattern, pulling Jericho by the hair into the turnbuckle pad, before climbing the turnbuckle and hitting him with a missile dropkick! Booker goes for a cover, but Candido manages to break it up. From there, the three go about trying to hit a big move before taking the win, but the third man always seems to get in the way. Finally, Booker is able to hammer Candido with the Harlem Hangover, but before he can even try for the pinfall Jericho interjects, tripping Booker up and turning him over into the Liontamer! Candido is far too out of it, and by the time he even realizes what just happened, Booker is forced to submit – and without being defeated, the champion has lost his title! Candido slumps in the corner, head in his hands, as Jericho leaps into the arms of the Warlord, hoisting his newly won championship high in the air, as Ventura says that Jericho is bound to throw a huge party now!

Winner in 11:55 and new Television champion: Chris Jericho

“Mean” Gene Okerlund is back at the interview area, standing by with the Four Horsemen. Gene notes the attire of the four men tonight, as Eddy wears a pinstriped suit, Owen and Arn are in jeans and Horsemen t-shirts with their wrists and fists taped up, and Flair is decked out in a powder blue, sparkled robe. He says that it looks like all four men are doing some business tonight, just all kinds of different business – and says that Heenan appears to be wearing “his weasel suit” as always, prompting a snarl from “The Brain”. Flair points out Anderson and Hart, saying that they aren't dealing with wrestling boots tonight, that the two men are ready for war. He points out Guerrero, saying that “Latino Heat” is ready to get the party ready and take the ladies for a ride down to the Alamo (“at least the ones who aren't riding on Space Mountain, woo”) while “The Nature Boy” is ready to wrestle and prove that he is where he is for a reason. “I talk the talk, and I walk the walk, and when I enter that ring, I am 'The Man'. Austin wants to be 'The Man', but you can't do that without beating 'The Man' – and that is where we enter the ring tonight.” He says that tonight, people won't be talking about WCW, the Rhodes family, or the Kings of Wrestling; Uncensored is tailor-made for Horsemen, and that's who we are going to see on top. Woooo!

Notes: Flair and Okerlund both improvised well here.

No Disqualification Match

“The Outsider” Scott Hall w/Woman vs. Ricky “The Dragon” Steamboat

Time Limit: 45:00

Referee: Randy “Pee Wee” Anderson

The crowd are treated to mostly a standard matchup for the opening moments of this, as Steamboat seems to be wary of taking this fight to the outside. And it is for good reason, as Tony points out, as the devious Woman lurks around ringside, and who knows where the rest of the Kings of Wrestling may be. So “The Dragon” plays it safely, working Hall on the mat with deep armdrags and chops anytime he tried to mount a comeback. A thumb to the eye gives “The Outsider” his first break though, and he follows it up with a vicious vertical suplex that seems to rock every bone in Steamboat's body! He tries for a quick pin, but only scores a near-fall. Hall is quick to take the no disqualification stipulation to full effect, as he is handed a steel chair by Woman. Hall drives the chair into the back of Ricky, as fans scream their displeasure! He tries for another pin, but again Steamboat kicks out at two. After another chair shot to the back, Hall starts feeling confident, slapping Steamboat on the back of the head. Ricky ducks a clothesline, but his cross body attempt is thwarted by a high impact fall-away slam, as Scott once again picks up a near fall. Tony actively begins to wonder if Hall doesn't want to finish this match quickly, perhaps he's a little bit afraid of unleashing “The Dragon” in a long match. Hall goes up for his avalanche belly to back suplex, noting that “he's finished!” before climbing the ropes. But Ricky is not finished, as he turns in mid-air and crashes down on “The Outsider” and scores a long two count of his own! Steamboat starts rallying the crowd now, pounding his hand on the mat to get the audience clapping and stomping along as Randy Anderson starts a standing ten count. Hall is quick to try re-establishing himself with punches, but the chops from Steamboat prove stronger! A double handed chop off the ropes takes Scott down, and now it's Steamboat who picks up the steel chair! Woman screams in horror from the outside – but he never gets the use of the weapon, as Syxx interjects himself into the match! Syxx grabs the chair from the outside, pulling it away, and when Ricky goes after him, the trap is sprung as the Chain Gang attack! With Steamboat already weakened, he is easy pickings for the KoW's biker duo, and they send him back into the ring, where Randy Anderson can only try talking them into stopping. That plea falls on deaf ears, as Darsow pulls Ricky across his knee for Adams to come crashing down with the Hard Ride! With their assistance, Hall then drills Steamboat with the Outsider's Edge, and the cover is academic from there. Jesse says that the Kings of Wrestling have stolen their first match here tonight; will that be a sign of things to come for the rest of the evening?

Winner in 11:55: Scott Hall

Antidote vs. Mask Match

Rio the Renegade w/Dr. Karnage and Nurse Ana R. Key vs. King Puma

Time Limit: 30:00

Referee: Mark Curtis

Mike Tenay takes over from Jesse Ventura for this “highly anticipated” match. The mighty King Puma dominates the early going, using his size advantage to overpower the crazed Rio, Tony surprised that he doesn't utilize his incredible powers of super speed. Tenay says that King Puma describes himself as “faster than a flash if he wants to be” but he is only one man, and with Dr. Karnage and his vacant looking nurse out there, the tide changes to the side of the Dungeon of Doom soon. The Renegade pounces on the first chance he gets, scoring a few near falls off of a series of clotheslines and shoulder blocks. Finally some backup comes in the form of Surge, who starts chasing Dr. Karnage around the ring. However, the doctor has a trick up his sleeve, as he takes out an oversized remote control and presses a button on it – and Surge cannot control himself anymore, as he is forced into the ring and attacks Puma! The crowd boo loudly as Mark Curtis calls for the bell.

It isn't over, though, as Dr. Karnage takes up a microphone and calls out the rest of his Dungeon. Biohazard, The Annihilator, and The Willow all join in as Rio and Surge assault King Puma, the big man being sent to the mat as Rio and Biohazard throw Willow at him like a weapon! Surge tries to fight this, but Karnage tells him there is no use in resisting, the reprogramming is almost complete!

However, the Flying Spyder swings in to help! He dropkicks Annihilator out of the ring, then slams The Willow out of the ring into him! Puma is able to get back on his feet, and he hurls Rio out of the ring, as the Spyder uses webbing to tie up Biohazard, and King Puma takes him over his shoulder! One of the Dungeon's members have been captured, but what is happening to Surge?

“Mean” Gene is out at the aisle now, and he brings out his guests, two men who have not been seeing eye to eye as of late like they should be. He asks everyone to give a warm welcome to Rick and Scott, the Steiner Brothers! The two walk out, and Gene says that he would like this to be a calm discussion between the two, so that we can put all this behind us. Scott starts off by saying that he would like to put this behind us, but there's one thing missing from doing that: the World Tag titles. He says that the only reason they lost the belts is because Rick had to run off his mouth, and then got attacked by Sting. Rick fires back by saying that he was looking out for the welfare of the entire WCW with what he had said. But Scott doesn't let him finish, saying that he shouldn't have been looking out for WCW, he should be looking out for Rick and Scott! Scott adds that he could have beat Ric Flair on Nitro if not for Rick getting involved, saying that once again, Rick put himself where he didn't need to be, and it cost Scott in the end. Rick apologizes, telling his brother that he was only trying to help him, and that he wants to get the Tag titles back just as much as Scott does. It seems as though Scott is ready to dismiss his older brother, but that's when…

“The Total Package” comes to try and smooth things over! He tells them that this is not what they should be doing, they need to fight the Kings of Wrestling, not one another! But that's when Scott drops a bombshell on everyone, by saying that as of right now, there is only one way he can see to put a stop to this: and that is to meet his brother in the ring, one-on-one, next month at Spring Stampede! Everyone is shocked, as Scott walks off to the back. Rick follows him, trying to reason with his brother, and Luger is left standing alone.

http://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/wcw-95/ericbischoff.jpg

But not for long, as he is joined by Executive Vice President Eric Bischoff! The crowd boos the arrival, as Bischoff says that he is personally going to get the contract for that match signed and dated for April 14th, only on WCW pay-per-view, where the big boys play! The crowd cheer the announcement but continue to boo Eric, as he says that he has one more thing that he would like to add to that contract. He says that since Lex Luger keeps wanting to stick his nose into Rick and Scott's business, then he can become a full participant in it, as he will be assigned as a guest referee for the match between the Steiner Brothers! Lex says that he doesn't want any of that, but Eric dismisses his objections. He says that if Lex really doesn't want that, then he's not going to want much of this, either…

The Kings of Wrestling descend upon Luger from everywhere! The World Tag Team champions do a number on “The Total Package” and hold him in place for Sting to hammer Lex in the ribs with his baseball bat! Kip gloats in his face about having defeated Luger on Nitro recently, saying that he's not the total package anymore, before slapping him across the face! Luger tries to fight back, and even manages to tackle Kip to the floor, but the numbers are too overwhelming, and he's left lying on the cold, hard concrete, as Eric tells everyone to enjoy the rest of the show – because he certainly will.

Notes: Bischoff struggled off-script, and seemed to really underperform.

Guitar on a Pole Match

“The People's Champion” Diamond Dallas Page vs. Jeff Jarrett w/Woman

Time Limit: 45:00

Referee: Nick Patrick

This feud has been going on for months now, with Jarrett constantly attacking Page both physically and verbally, while Dallas has continually come back and dared him to do his worst each time. This is the first one-on-one meeting between the two, and it begins as a full-on donnybrook. Both men swing wild punches at one another, but that is definitely not Jarrett's forte as Page takes over, sending him to the mat with a swinging clothesline! Jeff bails to the floor, regrouping as best as he can, before entering the ring again. Far more cautious this time, Jarrett challenges Dallas to a test of strength, which Jeff immediately breaks in favor of a kick to the ribs. Jarrett hits the ropes and comes back with a running knee lift, but barely manages a two count this early in the match. Jarrett tries to wear Dallas out with a sleeperhold, but Page hits a jawbreaker to get out of it, before heading toward the hanging guitar. Jarrett stops him, pulling Page to the mat before drilling DDP with a DDT! Jeff now heads for the guitar, but Dallas cuts him off with a belly to back suplex. Page goes for a pin, but Jeff gets his foot on the bottom rope. Jarrett makes a quick comeback by hitting Page with a few fists to the face, before choking him on the middle rope. Jarrett runs to the other side then, before coming back and landing all of his weight onto DDP's back; and moreso, when Nick Patrick is busy admonishing Jarrett for those actions, Woman slaps Page across the face! Jarrett is all smiles now as he takes time to strut across the ring. He fires Page off into the ropes, but he mistimes his back body drop and Page catches him, lifting him up as if a piledriver but then falling forward, pancaking Jeff on the mat! The crowd are coming to life for “The People's Champion” but a low blow brings the match right back to Jeff's favor. Jarrett struts again, and looks to be setting Page up for a russian leg sweep. He talks to the crowd for just a split second too long though – Diamond Cutter! Page could have completely scored the pin here, but he looks toward the hanging guitar, and the crowd are cheering him on as he crawls toward it! Woman screams as Page goes up the ropes and pulls the guitar down, but another woman's sound is what actually pulls Dallas out of the match. He looks up the ramp to see Kimberly skipping down the aisle! He turns to ask her what she's doing, to head to the back, and that's when Scott Hall comes out from behind her! He grabs her, and Dallas bristles in anger! He starts to leave the ring – but instead of struggling, she turns around and embraces Hall! Page has no time to react before he is drilled in the back of the head with the guitar by Jarrett, leading to Jeff rolling him up and scoring a huge victory! Jarrett may have won, but what is the deal with Scott Hall and Kimberly?!

Winner in 11:47: Jeff Jarrett

Notes: Kimberly's turn came off pretty well.

Ten Man Over the Top Rope Battle Royal for the WCW United States Heavyweight Championship

Time Limit: 50:00

Referee: Randy “Pee Wee” Anderson

Tony takes note that only nine men enter the ring, wondering if perhaps someone got cold feet when they saw the sign-up sheet. There is nothing about this match that is not a brawl, as Jesse talks about these being some of the toughest men in all of World Championship Wrestling's landscape right now. Ron Simmons strikes first blood of the match by eliminating Stevie Ray, but Meng does most of the work of the match by rapid fire eliminations of Bubba Rogers and Wrath. Finlay gets eliminated, but nobody manages to see who pushed him out. Bigelow gets dumped out by Orndorff, who had sneakily pushed him over while he was trying to eliminate Gordy. “Mr. Wonderful” turns right around into the Tongan Deathgrip though, and Meng shoves him out with the hold, leaving the final men in the ring as Gordy, Simmons, and Meng, the three men who last held the United States title. A full war breaks out between them, as fists fly everywhere between them. Meng starts to come out on top of the three, asserting himself via putting both men in the Tongan Deathgrip! He shoves them away, hitting Gordy with a savate kick that sends him careening out of the ring, but that brief lapse is enough time for Simmons to hit the ropes and nail Meng with a flying shoulder tackle, knocking him against the ropes – and with sheer brute strength, Simmons starts lifting him off the mat! Meng locks the deathgrip in yet again, yet Ron surges through the punishing hold to keep trying! But the crowd are stunned as both men go over the top – at the hands of……. Lord Steven Regal! He was our tenth man all along it seems, and he hid under the ring all night! Regal is awarded the title, as Meng, Gordy, and Simmons continue to brawl outside, what a shock! But with all these huge, tough men on the hunt of the title, how long can Regal keep it to himself?

Winner in 14:18 and new US champion: Lord Steven Regal

Notes: The match's flow was hampered by Regal's lack of involvement, but Regal did debut a new cocky version of his royalty gimmick, which rated a B+.

Steve Austin vs. “The Nature Boy” Ric Flair w/Bobby Heenan

Time Limit: 30:00

Referee: Charles Robinson

The crowd support for this match was off the charts, as the fans really love both Austin and Flair. Despite being cool and confident earlier during his interview, “The Nature Boy” didn't seem quite so apt to jump into battle with Austin now as he constantly went into stall tactics like bailing out of the ring or tying himself up in the ropes. When Flair finally gets serious, he attacks with vicious chops that nearly take the skin from Austin's chest, but Austin fires back with right hands! He sends Flair into the turnbuckle so hard that he literally flips over the top rope, and Austin nails him with a running clothesline on the apron! Ric seems to land badly on the floor, though, and Bobby Heenan looks really concerned as he calls Charles Robinson over to look at it. Jesse notes that Flair seems to be complaining about his back, citing his back injury from 1979. Austin waits, looking at an invisible watch, Tony joking that Austin isn't paid by the hour. However, that's when he gets pulled out of the other side of the ring by the other three Horsemen! Arn, Owen, and Eddy assault Austin on the floor, triple teaming him and finally leaving him in a heap on the floor after Anderson nails him between the eyes with a tire iron! They slide Austin back in underneath the bottom rope, and Flair is finally feeling better just as they depart. “The Nature Boy” struts over to the unconscious Austin and locks on the figure four before Charles has any time to question it, and before long he simply stops the match due to the unmoving opponent. Flair won this battle thanks to the Horsemen, but once Austin wakes up, you have to know he will be coming back for Flair again!

Chicago Street Fight

The Road Warriors vs. Owen Hart and Arn Anderson w/Bobby Heenan

Time Limit: 60:00

Referee: Mark Curtis

This is a wild fight from start to finish. Owen seems out of place here, not being much of a brawler, but he uses that to his advantage as he forgoes most of the weaponry for outright dirty tactics such as using the ropes for leverage during submission holds, eye rakes, and low blows. Hawk and Animal, masters of the Chicago Street Fight, do all they can to simply beat their opponents into a pulp, but “The Enforcer” is definitely prepared as he brings out powder to throw into their eyes. I really wish the carnage could be described better, but this match is so wild and crazy that there's no words that can even do it justice! Even the pole from the earlier DDP/Jarrett match comes into play, as Hawk and Animal heave it into their powerful arms to deliver a tandem clothesline to Hart! The advantage is to the Horsemen as long as the match stays grounded around ringside, and even Bobby gets in a cheap shot kick to a downed Warrior when he can. But the Road Warriors aren't “the masters of mayhem” for no reason, and after Arn drills Hawk with a piledriver, he bounces right back up, and the Chicago natives come back strong using only their fists! Owen is nailed with one of the spiked gauntlets, and as he goes down and out of the ring, “Double A” takes a ride in the Doomsday Device, and Animal picks up the victory to maybe finally put this feud to rest again… for now!

WCW World Heavyweight Championship Match – Steel Cage

“The Natural” Dustin Rhodes vs. “Macho Man” Randy Savage w/Woman

Time Limit: 60:00

Referee: Tommy Young

We don't head straight into the match, as first we go through a recap of the feud. It starts back with Savage winning the number one contendership at Starrcade, to Dustin winning Battlebowl. Savage attacking Rhodes is shown as well as him abducting Terri, leading up to their match at Superbrawl. The end of the match is seen, as Terri throws the chain into the ring – and Dustin catches it, uses it, and retains his title. A sound byte from each man leads us to the match tonight, who will be the man to prevail within the confines of the cage?

The camera shows us Savage in his locker room, mentally preparing himself before heading toward the ring. But what he doesn't even notice is that the door remains open a crack – and Cactus Jack bursts into the room, and starts punching The Giant! Vader comes into the battle, and it looks as though the World Tag Team champions are going to destroy Jack, but that's when Brian Pillman shows up! He takes it to Vader, and before long the brawl has spilled out into the hallway and then out of the building entirely! Tony says that if anyone could have come down and gotten involved it was likely those two behemoths, but thanks to Cactus and the power of Pillmania, they are now locked out of the building!

The entrances are made by each man, “Macho Man” and Woman coming down to the ring first before “The Natural” comes out of the curtain and enters the cage. Gary Michael Cappetta gives his introductions, going into detail about each man's career highlights.

Before the match can start though, Tony says that he hears something from backstage, and we head quickly to a hand camera which shows Roddy Piper skulking around – but Barry Windham is on the hunt for him! “The Blackjack” gives chase, and he runs Piper outside just like Cactus and Brian did to the other KoW members! This match is almost guaranteed to not have interference now, as most of the main Kings have been run off by WCW!

In the ring, the two men have a collar-and-elbow tie-up that is more than a little bit forceful. Each man tries to jockey for a better position, as Tommy Young does all he can to stay out of the path of these two emotional individuals. Savage takes over with a knee to the stomach, but Dustin blocks when he tries to throw the champion toward the turnbuckle by turning and hitting a short clothesline! Jesse says that it seems we are not having any “feeling out process” or headlocks or top wristlocks here, it is all action! Rhodes picks Randy up and shoves him into the ropes, hitting a forearm to his back on the rebound, before taking him down with a double leg takedown. The champion puts himself into the mounted position and starts hitting forearms on the challenger, so vicious that Tommy Young is telling him to stop! Savage rolls away and tries to escape, but Dustin stays right on him even as Savage gets to the ropes. There is no break at the ropes in the no disqualification nature of a cage match, so Rhodes is able to grind his forearm into Savage's face and nose, showing an intensity that surprises Tony and Jesse.

“The Macho Man” is sent into the air with a back body drop, and Dustin follows it up with a body slam. However, Savage is able to swat away a dropkick, and he pounces. He slams Rhodes's head into the top turnbuckle pad, then starts gouging Dustin's face with his hand! Savage opens the champion's chest up for a series of forearms in the corner, weakening him significantly; as Jesse says, if you can't draw a full breath, you have a lot harder time getting a victory. Savage then tries to send Dustin into the steel cage, but Rhodes is able to get his hands up and block it! Savage tries to force him, but Rhodes will not allow it. He breaks free with a shot to Randy's ribs, and attempts to send Savage into the steel mesh now. Savage blocks this as well, and hooks an elbow into Dustin's jaw to get free. He charges and catches Dustin with a running knee, before driving him to the mat with a hard body slam, dropping a savage elbow (see what I did there?) into the chest of the champion. He goes for a pin, but only scores a near fall. The champion keeps trying to get to his feet, but the challenger will not allow it, driving his elbows into the back of Dustin's neck when he got to his hands and knees. Along with a few kicks to the ribs for good measure, Savage does all he can to keep Rhodes beneath him. Savage finally has enough of this, and he heaves Dustin off the mat by his trunks and sends him careening face first into the steel cage!

Tony screams that Rhodes has been the first to taste the steel here tonight, and it appears to have left it's mark as blood begins to drip onto the mat from a laceration on his forehead. Savage zooms in on the cut the second he sees it, as Jesse says what a veteran maneuver it is. He hits Rhodes with sharp jabs and scratches all over Dustin's face, even resorting to slamming his face down onto the mat and rubbing it in violently. Tommy tries to get Randy to back away so he can look at the cut, but Savage will not allow it. “The Macho Man” now firmly in control, he does not give Dustin any possible outlet to try gaining it back. The mesh surrounding the ring shakes as Savage once again plasters Dustin's face across it, this time holding him there and really digging him into it. Tony says that he is like a man possessed, but Jesse responds that Savage has always been like this; almost animalistic in his fighting, as he does all he can to prove that he is the best.

After a number of near falls, Savage finally decides that enough is enough and heads to the turnbuckles. He leaps off, but Dustin catches him before he can land the double axe handle! Savage holds his stomach in agony, as Rhodes starts trying to make his comeback. Tony talks about him having the heart of a champion as he valiantly defends his title here, as Rhodes slams both feet into Savage's face with a dropkick to put him on the mat! Another dropkick gives way to a clothesline, and Dustin irish whips Savage into the turnbuckle. He climbs up and begins punching Savage in the face, the crowd counting along with each one!

But Savage then regains himself long enough to grab Rhodes around the legs for an inverted atomic drop – but no! Dustin straightens his legs to block it, and he nails Savage with one final punch, as the crowd yells 10! Dustin goes for a cover!

A strong kickout from Savage saves his opportunity, Tommy Young was right on top of that one. Rhodes and Savage climb back to their feet, slugging it out before hitting the ropes. Savage ducks a clothesline attempt, but when he turns around, Dustin had stopped his momentum and grabs “The Macho Man” by the tights and head, and he sends Savage into the cage now! The crowd cheers wildly, and now it appears that Savage is busted open as well!

“The Natural” now seems to be in charge, but a blind charge into the corner followed by a running forearm strike to Dustin's face puts Savage back in the driver's seat, and he takes Dustin down with a snapmare and kicks him in the center of the back! Savage locks in a reverse chinlock, trying to grind the will and reserve out of the champion. Jesse mentions that this hold will make Dustin work to get out, while Savage can catch a breather and just apply pressure. Savage takes a few shots to drive the point of his elbow into the forehead of Dustin, but keeps going back to the chinlock. He finally relinquishes the hold long enough to choke Rhodes over the top rope, smash his head into the cage, and go for a pin! Will it be enough?!

That was a close one, and it's surprising that the quick pin didn't net him the victory. Savage now takes his time mounting the turnbuckle, holding into the cage for balance, before driving a double axe handle into the bloody face of the champion! He covers again!

That was even closer than last time, but Rhodes just barely slipped his shoulder up in time! Randy is incensed, and he starts shoving Tommy Young around, ordering him to count faster! Tommy is our senior official for a reason though, and he shoves Savage right back – into a rollup by Dustin!

Tony chuckles as Savage just barely kicked out of that one before the three, and he dives as Tommy in anger. This quick moment of lapse gives Dustin a second to think though, and when “Macho” goes back for him, Dustin punches him in the ribs. Another punch, and then another, and now Rhodes is back to his feet! He slugs Savage back into the ropes, trying for a whip but gets reversed. In his haste, Savage telegraphs the back body drop a little too much though, and Dustin drops to the mat and punches him in the face! Dustin is back on his feet and starts throwing jabs! The crowd are rocking and rolling with him, and as Savage staggers, he spins his fists in the air and lands a bionic elbow! Tony screams in joy along with the fans, and everyone counts the pin!

Savage's shoulder BARELY shot off the mat, Tommy even motioning that it was “this close” to Dustin! Woman screams from ringside, not liking how this match is going at all! The camera just barely notices as she pulls something out of her dress and starts trying to pull at the cage door to slide it in…. but the crowd cheers as Terri Rhodes starts coming out from the back! She pulls Woman away from the door, and she takes the weapon away from her! Jesse screams that who knows what she's going to do with it, she could throw it to either of them! The crowd catch on to that as she tells Woman to get out of here and looks into the ring. In the ring, Savage hits a low blow on Dustin, and he rapidly scales the ropes and looks for the killing blow, his flying elbow! He takes a moment to point toward Terri, who holds out the weapon that Savage was after. He screams for her to give it to him – but she puts it down into her shirt instead! Just then, Dustin grabs Savage and throws him off the turnbuckle down to the mat! Savage groggily tries to get back to his feet, and Rhodes rushes, grabbing him and hitting the bulldog! Dustin hit the move so hard that he went halfway across the ring from his opponent, but he quickly scrambles over and rolls Savage over to make the pin!

………………………….2!

……………………………………………..3!

It's over! Both men are a bloody mess, but the champion has earned a hard-fought victory all over again! Terri applauds and screams in joy at ringside as Tommy Young helps Savage out of the cage door. He falls over in an attempt to swipe at Terri, who enters the ring and presents the World championship to her husband, and Tony says that hopefully by having defeated the crazed Savage, maybe the nightmare that plagued their family over the past month will finally be over.

Tony's attention, however, gets directed away to the aisle, as Eric Bischoff has emerged. Eric applauds, as he is handed a microphone. Eric tells Rhodes congratulations, as he just defeated one of the greatest legends in the entire business. But not to rest on his laurels too much – because he is to show up with his boots on tomorrow night on Nitro! Dustin's celebration continues, but Eric Bischoff just put a huge dark cloud over it! Tony tells everyone that they can't miss WCW Monday Nitro tomorrow, but as for Uncensored, goodnight everybody!

Winner in 26:33: Dustin Rhodes

Notes: During the intro, Gary didn't come out of this looking good, but Savage looked good, and the performance of Dustin was good.

God damn it Cracker!!!!

Holy molly Beejus I really enjoyed that one. First it was nice to see Jericho get the rub of being Television champion. It will be interesting to see where Jericho goes from here. I wouldn't mind Booker T feud Jericho for the belt. I am enjoying the super hero storyline, seriously the ratings are horrible but I am enjoying it a lot. The highlight of the night for me though was Regal sneakily winning the US belt, you booked him to a T. Great stuff Beej

Finally got caught up with Uncensored--great show as always, Beejus!

Jericho as the TV Champ should be fun, and Regal winning the US Title is also something I'm looking forward to seeing how it turns out.

Surprised that Flair and Austin didn't go longer, but it seems that things are just getting started there so that's another thing I'm looking forward to.

I was also surprised that Jarrett beat DDP, but, as always, it made perfect sense in terms of how you booked it.

And the main event was awesome. I know I've said this before, but I really like how you've managed to make Dustin the top guy. I always enjoy it when someone manages to make a wrestler into more than he achieved in real life, and your booking of Dustin is one of the best examples of that that I have ever seen.

That was a spectacular show! I love what you have done with Dustin Rhodes in making him the top babyface in WCW, and count me in as a big fan of how Lord Steven Regal won the US Title. Great classic heel tactics! :D

BTW, was Chris Jericho recruiting the Warlord as his bodyguard inspired by what Jericho wrote about the Warlord in his first book? Every time I read a Jericho/Warlord segment, I'm picturing Jericho saying "WAW-LOAD!"

WCW Monday Nitro

March 18th, 1996

Commentary: Tony Schiavone and Jesse “The Body” Ventura

Attendance: 10,834 (sold out!)

Show Runtime: Two Hours

Rating: B

This show increased our popularity in 11 regions.

Last night at Uncensored!

The opening to Nitro and the ensuing pyro display has fans on their feet as we go to Tony Schiavone, Jesse “The Body” Ventura, and “Mean” Gene Okerlund at the announcing booth! Tony talks about how we are one night removed from WCW Uncensored, the craziest night in World Championship Wrestling, and he says that we don't even have any footage that can be shown from the evening because it was so uncensored! Jesse says that the show lived up to it's name and more, and if you didn't see it then you missed your chance! Gene shills the eventual home video release, but “The Body” says that isn't good enough, you have to be in on WCW on pay-per-view because in his four years in the company he can tell you that nobody can do pay-per-view like World Championship Wrestling! They could shill all day long, but the opening strains of the Kings of Wrestling music cuts them off…

Notes: Tony improvised well, but Jesse had some outright masterful interactions with the crowd.

King of Spades

“Hot Rod” Roddy Piper, “Macho Man” Randy Savage, WCW Executive VP Eric Bischoff, and Scott Hall come out of the back, Woman at their side – as well as Kimberly, who is all over Hall. The contingent stays at the top of the aisle, and Piper says that in many ways, people could say that last night was not the good time that the Kings of Wrestling had planned. “Those neanderthals would be wrong,” he says, saying that while it would have been preferable for Randy Savage to walk home with the World title, the plans are still in motion for getting the belt back into the KoW camp. Savage takes the microphone, screaming “Oooo yeah!” to a small pop from the crowd. He says that people love the Kings of Wrestling even more without Hogan, because the KoW is the place to be – and that's even moreso than the losers and nobodies on the WCW side. He turns his attention directly to Dustin Rhodes, saying that Rhodes finally beat him square in the center of the ring, and he can respect that. He calls Dustin a serious threat in the world of professional wrestling, a young man who can hold that championship through thick and thin, and can get it done “in the clutch, yeah”. His tone changes however when he points out that the one thing he couldn't do was kill “The Macho Man” and that's the only way he's ever going to stop chasing the World title! Scott Hall has other things to mention, as he laughs about Diamond Dallas Page. He says that Page left his woman on the sidelines, only worrying about his own glory when she wanted attention – attention that is being paid to her by “The Outsider” now. Scott takes everyone back to the year 1991. “Some handsome guy had just entered WCW,” he says, and talks about how Page managed him in those days. Scott drops the bombshell that it was he who introduced Kimberly to Dallas, and says that it was only after he knew how good she was! “That's right, chico – she found out who the stud was first!” Kim shrugs, grinning smugly, as Hall says that “animal magnetism” drew the two back together after Dallas stopped having her come to the ring with him, and now, it looks like one of the D's in “DDP” will stand for divorced and the other for dumb! Eric Bischoff takes the microphone from there, and he says that with all aside, it seems we need to get down to serious business – for the fans, he says with a sneering grin. He talks about how on the 14th of April, WCW will be heading to Arizon's America West Arena for Spring Stampede. Eric says that he has set up a match as the main event that will feature eight men, four on one side and four on the other. He points around him, saying that these three men around him and one more will represent the Kings of Wrestling, and they will take on four men from WCW – one of which will be Dustin Rhodes. He explains that whatever man scores a pinfall or submission in the match will become the number one contender for the World Heavyweight championship, to be awarded his shot at World War 3 in May. He says that Dustin can surround himself with people who he thinks are his friends – or maybe some of his enemies? Because with a shot at the gold on the line, they will all be his enemies! Eric thanks the audience, and tells them to keep tuning into the Kings of Wrestling show!

Talking Points

We go back to Tony, Jesse, and Gene after that huge announcement. Jesse laughs about the brilliance of Eric Bischoff – saying that he may not like the Kings of Wrestling, but they sure can make a good plan. Tony says that one of the things they did not mention is that, twenty-four hours after fighting for his life inside a fifteen foot high steel cage, Dustin Rhodes is being forced to defend his title yet again tonight, as he takes on the KoW's Syxx! Ventura says that maybe Syxx will win the title and be the fourth man on the Kings' side at Spring Stampede, but Gene says that he feels Dustin's heart and natural skill will bring him victory all over again. Tony says that also this evening, we will see what should be a very hard-hitting match between Lex Luger and Terry Gordy; Harlem Heat and new United States champion Steven Regal in action (Jesse quickly correcting him by saying “LORD Steven Regal”) and Steve Austin taking on Devon King! Gene says that he is looking to get some words tonight with World champion Dustin Rhodes, Diamond Dallas Page, and hopefully Lex Luger. Stay tuned, fans!

Notes: Gene improvised well, and Tony and Jesse worked the crowd well, really hyping them up for the show.

The Young Pistols vs. Johnny B. Badd and “Das Wunderkind” Alex Wright w/Badd Girl

This one guaranteed to be a match full of high flying action, and it delivered in spades. Unfortunately there was one thing that tied this match down, and that was the distraction in the front row by the Ladykillers, as Sexton and Scott passive-aggressively took the attention away from the Pistols by flirting on some girls in the crowd. Wright and Badd take full advantage, as Alex dropkicks Armstrong out of the ring as Badd nails Tracy with the Tutti Fruitty punch to score a victory.

Match Time: 7:12

Harlem Heat vs. “Hardwork” Bobby Walker and Erin O'Grady

Not nearly as competitive is this tag match, as Booker and Stevie steamroll their opponents from bell to bell. Booker and Stevie blast O'Grady with the Towering Inferno to score an easy win.

After the bell, “Mean” Gene hosts an interview with Johnny B. Badd and his followers. Badd takes full point, putting over the two “very decisive wins” he and his men just put on display. He says that it doesn't matter who is holding what championship here in WCW, they are on notice by the four of them – and it starts this Saturday when Harlem Heat take on the Road Warriors.

Match Time: 2:37

Notes: Booker came out of the match looking good, and the performance of Stevie Ray stood out as good. The match was short though. In the segment, Johnny looked good.

Ratings: D+ / C

Rey Mysterio Jr. vs. Shane Helms

Another very high flying encounter takes place after the commercial break, as Mysterio and Helms wow the fans with their agile acumen. Tony and Jesse are stunned almost silent by the action, at some points only able to add a “wow!” and “look at this!” after a particularly high risk maneuver. But the result is never much in doubt, as the more experienced masked man is able to put Shane away with a flying hurricanrana followed by a springboard legdrop.

How much crazy can it get?

The room is very dark when we hear the squealing voice of Cactus Jack. He talks about how men of no honor can form bonds of no respect. He says that there are two men, two very large men, walking around with titles (screaming now) “that they do not respect! That they do not deserve!” Jack says that he feels horrible for what has befallen Rick and Scott Steiner, the bigger issue is that The Giant and Vader are walking around like they're the top dogs now because they hold some modicum of power. “Now I may not be the smartest man, and many would say so, but I've danced with Vader enough to know that he's quite the brutal partner.” The Giant, he says, is still a moldable piece of clay. He says that maybe, just maybe, someone like Cactus Jack would be able to figure out a way to right that big head of his - “because we all know mine isn't right.” He says that both men need shown a few things though, and as crazed as he is, he knows he is only one man. Maybe there's someone out there just unhinged enough to form a bond based on doing the right things.

A light then turns on from the other side of the room, and into frame walks Brian Pillman! The purveyor of Pillmania beckons everyone to let him “tell you somethin', brother Cactus!” Brian goes on a rant about how Giant and Vader have been walking around practically unchecked because nobody wants to go after them – indeed, no one is stupid enough to get on them. “Hell; being just off enough to do what is needed is just what we do best!” He says with with his commandments of the ways of Pillmania, all the Pillmaniacs cheering him on, and the “nuttiest nut this side of the nuthouse” Cactus Jack at his side, there is no reason that they can't teach two big kings how to fall hard! Jack adds, singing, “and all the kings' asses won't be able to put them back together again!”

Notes: Brian improvised well.

Broken Diamond

Tony says that we have some footage from after Uncensored went off the air. We go to the footage, where “Mean” Gene Okerlund is out in the parking lot. He is trying to chase down Diamond Dallas Page as he is heading for his car. Gene finally catches up to him as Page is throwing his bags into the car, and Okerlund asks Dallas what he thinks about what happened out there tonight. Page says that he looked up that ramp and saw his wife with another man… and… and… “… and maybe I just can't do this anymore, Gene.” Page doesn't say another word, as he starts the car and speeds off into the night.

Non-title: Lord Steven Regal vs. Biff Wellington

Biff never even got out of the gate as the new United States Heavyweight champion got on the attack immediately with a rushing knee. From there he proceeds to stretch Wellington practically from one turnbuckle to the other, and blasting him with European style uppercuts every chance in between. Commentary does note the absence of anyone at his Lordship's side now, which is a first for Regal. He polishes this match off with the Regal Stretch.

“Professor” Mike Tenay meets up to Regal backstage after the match, and Lord Steven notes at how he did not even break a sweat out there, the same as when he “bravely went against nine other brutish ruffians last night at Uncensored.” Tenay begs to differ, but Regal has nothing to say to him, as he says that he had heard his former underling Finlay talking about him in his absence, and he needs only meet up to Regal to find out why the group was Regal's Roundtable and not Finlay's Fools. Tenay says that he could have quite a few of those “ruffians” after his title such as Ron Simmons or Meng, but Regal says to bring them on, as now that he has the US championship, he is going to do the impossible: make the United States seem civilized.

Match Time: 4:58

Notes: Regal's performance in the match stood out as being good.

Words from the Champion

“Mean” Gene is in the aisle after a commercial, and he brings out none other than the World's champion, “The Natural” Dustin Rhodes! Rhodes comes out to greet the fans, walking stiffly after the bout that he was in last night at Uncensored. Gene congratulates him for his big win in keeping the Kings of Wrestling at bay, and says that while he hates to be the bearer of bad news, Dustin has yet another title defense tonight as well as a huge eight man tag team match in a few short weeks at Spring Stampede! Rhodes says that he had no doubts that “that snively weasel” Eric Bischoff would have something up his sleeve. “The Natural” says that as much as he would gladly prop his cowboy boots up for the evening, that isn't how his career and reputation is fought and won; instead, he will get in that ring and do whatever he has to do each and every night for all the great fans of World Championship Wrestling who want to see “The Natural” keep cleaning house on the Kings of Wrestling!

Notes: Both Dustin and Gene performed well, they really enjoyed being off-script. However the crowd felt the segment was cut too short.

Rating: B

This isn't over, aw Hell no!

Steve Austin hits the ring, as Jesse notes what a great reaction Austin gets from the fans every time he comes out. He has no match tonight, but Tony says he looks “ready to kick some rear end” at any given moment. Steve gets a microphone and asks the crowd if they agree what happened to him at Uncensored was a load of bullcrap! They apparently agree wholeheartedly, greeting Austin with loud cheers. Austin says that he challenged Flair to be the man he claims to be, meet him in the ring at Uncensored and have a match where one man wins, one man loses. “But I guess 'The Nature Boy' is more like 'The Nature Bastard' because when it came time to fight, he needed his pack of wolves to come to his rescue from getting the ass whippin' that he had coming to him!” He talks about how Flair always says “to be the man you have to beat the man” but given all he did was hide behind the Horsemen, they need to change that slogan to “to be the man, you have to beat the man at hide and seek!”

This brings Ric Flair out to the aisle, laughing in his fine suit. He laughs off Austin's “cheap puns” saying that he never won the right to even lace “The Nature Boy's” boots, let alone get in the ring with him live on pay-per-view! Flair says that the plan went off without a hitch, and it was the plan ever since Austin came out and interrupted the Horsemen on Nitro. Austin asks Flair if he's talking out his mouth or his ass right now, because all he hears is crap! Austin makes another challenge to Flair, but the former decorated World champion tells Austin that he refuses to even acknowledge the challenge unless Austin is willing to go through the other Horsemen! Austin says that he's already beaten both of the young ones, but if Flair wants to “send his whipping boys to the glue factory again” then he'll be happy to drop them with a Stunner again. Out comes Arn Anderson, who tells Austin that as a top class athlete, he's earned the right to skip the formalities; if he can pull the testosterone together to challenge “The Nature Boy” then he should have no problem going up against “The Enforcer” at Spring Stampede! Austin smiles, telling Anderson that he ought not write checks he can't cash, he's got the match! Flair screams that it's Arn's checkbook, but Austin's death warrant! WOOOO!! We have another huge match for Spring Stampede!

Notes: Flair really improvised well, and Austin worked the crowd well with his antics.

Meng vs. Devon King w/Harley Race

Harley Race is more and more a constant distraction as their matches together have continued. This is no different, as King does great until the point that Harley starts telling him what to do, and against Meng that is never a good thing. The former US champion destroys the poor youngster, putting him away with the Tongan Deathgrip.

As Devon is helped to the back, he's seen meeting with another man. The camera can't hear what is said, but they seem close. King has nothing to say, simply nodding, as the other guy practically berates him. He leaves when Harley comes along, and Harley doesn't practically berate him, he full on scolds Devon, before telling him to come along. The question is, who was the other man talking to Devon?

Match Time: 7:03

Terry Gordy vs. “The Total Package” Lex Luger

This match defines hard hitting. Luger and Gordy are two big brawlers, and no motion is wasted as they punch and kick each other, trying to force the other into submission. Terry doesn't seem thrown off at all by the absence of Col. Parker, as Tony says this seems to mean the Stud Stable is well and truly dead, as the only man under Parker's care is Bubba Rogers. However Gordy is no match for the power of Lex, who turns the tide with a vicious powerslam before lifting the over three hundred pound Gordy into the Torture Rack for the win!

“Mean” Gene catches up to “The Total Package” after that big victory in the aisle, and Lex agrees with Gene that it is good to get back into the winning side again. Luger poses a challenge, saying that Kip has been on the winning side without beating him twice now! He says that next week-er, next month at Spring Stampede, he wants Kip in a match with no count outs and no count-no disqualifications, so that they can see who the real “Total Package” really is! He flexes as his music plays behind him, as we head to a commercial break, Gene hyping our Nitro main event coming up next!

Match Time: 12:23

Notes: Gene really worked the crowd well, what an expert improviser. Luger seemed to struggle tonight though.

Coming up on WCW Saturday Night!

The voice of Mike Tenay excitedly says that with all the great action going on tonight on Nitro, WCW Saturday Night is still your place for the best weekend wrestling action! He says that Harlem Heat are former World Tag Team champions with a bad streak, but Harlem is taking a trip to Chicago this Saturday as they do battle with the very decorated Hawk and Animal, the Road Warriors! Be sure to tune into the WCW wrestling weekend!

WCW World Heavyweight Championship: “The Natural” Dustin Rhodes w/Terri vs. Syxx w/Woman

Tony notes that Syxx is just the weaselly type of person to try and sneak a World title match following the brutal match that Dustin was just a part of last night, but Jesse says that as much as the people of WCW may not like it, this is what being champion is all about, and if Rhodes wants to prove himself as World Heavyweight champ, this is what he has to continue looking forward to. Dustin stays in charge for much of the opening moments, clearly trying to use his size advantage to put this match away early so he doesn't tire out, but Syxx is able to weather the storm. He comes back with a high leg lariat, scoring a close near fall on the champion. Syxx takes over, doing all the damage he can with snap legdrops, a reverse chinlock, and his variety of martial arts style kicks. Syxx begins getting cocky, crotch chopping at Rhodes before charging him in the corner – but Dustin gets out of the way, and Syxx crotches himself in the post! By the time Syxx has gotten out of his predictament, “The Natural” has already hit the ropes and comes off with his bulldog! But just as he is about to decisively win his second title match in twenty four hours, the Kings of Wrestling hit the ring and attack! Tommy Young barely has time to call for the bell before Randy Savage punches him out! Roddy Piper, Savage, The Giant, and Scott Hall begin laying into the World champion, and Giant drills him to the mat with a vile chokeslam!

But just as Hall is just about to begin marking everything up with spraypaint, WCW arrives! Barry Windham, Ricky Steamboat, and Jake Roberts rush the ring, and with the numbers difference lessened, the tide turns! Piper throws punches with Windham as Hall and Roberts brawl in the corner, with Steamboat taking Savage to task. The Giant lumbers around, until Dustin comes up with a low blow! That stops the behemoth in his tracks, and that moment is when Piper and Savage bail out of the ring. Dustin, Steamboat, and Windham all rush Giant and send him out over the top rope, as Hall slips away from a short-arm clothesline. That leaves Syxx alone, and he eats a DDT from “The Snake”! Windham lifts Syxx and throws him out of the ring – but The Giant catches him, as Tony points out that we are looking at four men coming together for World Championship Wrestling against the Kings of Wrestling! Will these four men be able to work together long enough to put a stop to them at Spring Stampede?!

Match Time: 9:34

Notes: The match was dinged for a lack of psychology. Piper's performance was good in the following segment, and Giant came across well, but Roberts performed poorly.

While most people would have turned a blind eye to the plight of the champion, it was a great moment to see WCW stars band together behind Dustin Rhodes and stand up to the Kings of Wrestling on Nitro! Will this be the team holding up World Championship Wrestling at Spring Stampede? I for one cannot wait for Nitro this week to find out!

Option 8: Mike Tenay’s International Report!

TEW2016's announcement actually changes nothing. I've had a very specific timeframe in mind for this story practically ever since I started it, so the game is still lasting exactly how long I plan it to. I've said before that I will not stop this until the story in my head has been fully told, and I am sticking to that. In theory, I would love to have all things wrapped up by the time 2016 drops, so that I can seamlessly move on to the new game; but if not, then I finish this before I buy the new one so that I do not become distracted by the shiny new toy. You are all promised to all get the full story short of Hell or high water.

Last week on Monday Nitro!

A video opens Nitro which details last week's closing moments. The huge brawl between the stars of WCW and of the Kings of Wrestling raged on, but will it continue to rage tonight? The official announcement of the eight men in Spring Stampede's high stakes match will be made tonight!

Rating: B

Galloping into the Stampede

Aside from Mike Tenay replacing Jesse Ventura on commentary for a short period tonight, the show opens in the same manner as the last: the Kings of Wrestling are on their way to the ring. “Hot Rod” Roddy Piper, “Macho Man” Randy Savage, Eric Bischoff, and The Giant walk down the aisle along with Woman, and Eric has something to say. He smiles what Tenay calls “the same sort of smile a used car salesman would give” as he welcomes everyone to Monday Nitro, and immediately turns his attention toward the World's champion, Dustin Rhodes. He says that Dustin seems to be full of youthful vigor, “the spirit of The Dream” Eric calls it offhandedly, and reinforces that while Rhodes is apparently a popular champion, he is not the champion that will lead WCW in the future. He says that in the Kings' camp is where the gold belongs, and is the only place it should belong: safe within the strongest unit that pro wrestling has ever seen. He hands the microphone to Piper, who yells that the Kings of Wrestling is the only way to be, man! That gold belongs to kings, not kids, not dreamers, no so-called immortals, and definitely not false kings, man! “There are no kings of crapholes like Memphis allowed in our party!” He says that no matter if it's himself, “Macho”, any of them – that gold is coming back to the party, bottom line. Randy Savage takes over then, saying that Dustin Rhodes has two wins over him – one don't count, yeah, which means it is time for “The Macho Man” to get his revenge. “And that revenge will come down upon thee with a vengeance resembling fires raining down from the heavens, dig it?!” Savage says that the World championship is destined to be around his waist, and no force consisting of man, woman, child, or beast will stand in that path!

That is the point in which they are interrupted, as the champion himself, “The Natural” Dustin Rhodes, comes out – and not alone! Standing at his side are Barry Windham, Ricky Steamboat, and Jake Roberts! “The Snake” addresses Savage's so-called destiny, telling him that while “most men, women, children, or beasts would tremble in the face of 'The Macho Man', we all know that this snake has stood eye to eye with you and left you struck down!” Savage is livid, as Roberts says that he is officially confirming himself as a member of the WCW team for Spring Stampede, not so much for the title shot; but in order to get his hands on the man who destroyed the psyche of one of his best friends Dallas Page, that being Scott Hall! He vows to “strike Hall down with the same sort of poison that he and that jezebel Lilith wannabe” have given to Page, causing the crowd to cheer in approval. Rhodes then talks, saying that he and these three are going to take the Kings down at Spring Stampede the same way he has been taking them down each week on Nitro and each pay-per-view ever since he won the World title. He says that he does have “the spirit of the Dream” and he's damn proud of it – because it is that same unwavering spirit that will give him the strength to lead this fight on the KoW no matter what! Piper jumps in, saying that their fourth man, Jeff Jarrett, would be able to take any one of the four down, but since there have to be four of them, the “WCW paupers” have no chance against the true Kings of Wrestling! Eric takes a different approach, as he sows the seeds of discord by saying that the one thing Dustin has failed to take into account is just how badly Barry, Ricky, or Jake would like to wear that piece of gold around his waist – “How can you eve begin to trust men who, at the end of the day, are out for their own careers?” The whole segment ends in a staredown between the two groups, a lot of posturing as we head to a commercial break.

Notes: Roddy Piper struggled off-script, rambling a little more than normal. Randy Savage's performance was fantastic, and was superb off-script, holding the crowd in the palm of his hand the whole time. Jake Roberts and Eric Bischoff both improvised well, but underperformed around the other big names, as did Barry Windham who performed poorly by comparison.

Rating: A

Scott Hall and Syxx w/Kimberly Page and Woman vs. “Blackjack” Barry Windham and Ricky “The Dragon” Steamboat

After a commercial break, Windham and Steamboat have remained in the ring while their opponents made their way out slowly, taunting the fans as we returned. That is, until “The Dragon” flies through the air, hitting both men with a flying crossbody from the top rope to the floor! Barry and Ricky take turns beating on Hall with a variety of slams and deep arm drags in the early going, but Steamboat gets tripped up by Woman at ringside and ends up becoming the Kings' punching bag. Hall nearly scores the victory after a fall-away slam, but Steamboat fights out. Kimberly even takes a moment to slap “The Dragon” from ringside as he was hanging over the middle rope! When it seems that the women on the outside seem to have gotten too involved, that's when help arrives in the form of Rey Mysterio Jr! Mysterio keeps the girls in check while simultaneously irritating Syxx, asking him if he likes someone else watching his match for a change. With the support of Windham, Rey, and the cheering crowd, Steamboat fights his way out of a reverse chinlock, and he takes himself and Hall out with a leaping clothesline! “The Dragon” crawls over and makes the tag, bringing Barry into the match to clean house! Syxx is the legal man, but he is a slippery snake as usual, slinking away when Windham comes after him. Hall is not so fortunate, as he takes a lariat from Windham that sends him down to the floor! Syxx comes in and hits Barry with a spinning heel kick though, but as he does his martial arts pose, he turns around into a chop from Steamboat, who gets cheers for his own martial arts pose. “The Dragon” tags back in as Windham recovers, and he sets Syxx up – delivering his patented superplex, and then Steamboat leaps from the top to crash down onto Syxx with a diving splash! The count is made, and Hall cannot re-enter in time to stop the three! Tony says that this may not be a huge victory for WCW, but it can't be a bad thing to have gained the early momentum tonight!

The Dungeon of Doom (Rio the Renegade and The Willow) w/Dr. Karnage vs. The Red, White, and Bruise

The match is nothing short of a quick squash, as Rio lays waste to the Patriot and the Falcon despite the patriotic cheers from the crowd. The surprising part is that when Dr. Karnage works his remote control, Surge comes out from the back, and just as Falcon seems to be gaining some steam, Surge trips him from outside the ring. The Willow takes full advantage, hitting a neckbreaker on Falcon before scaling the turnbuckles and hitting a flipping senton splash for the victory.

After the bout, Surge's fellow heroes, Flying Spyder and King Puma, come out to ask for answers from their friend. Surge seems apologetic for his actions, but with a flip of the switch, Dr. Karnage makes Surge attack them! Rio and Willow join in the attack, and even the size and super speed of King Puma is no match for the three-on-one attack. Dr. Karnage cackles madly, as he calls his men – including Surge – to leave the heroes lying in the ring.

WCW World Cruiserweight Championship: “Iceman” Dean Malenko vs. “Youth Warrior” Juventud Guerrera

Some incredible cruiserweight action is up next, as the fighting champion does battle with the vicious “Youth Warrior”. Mike Tenay talks about how these internationally traveled second generation stars have never crossed paths before tonight, right here in World Championship Wrestling. The two put on a clinic of a match, as the high flying of Guerrera keeps “The Iceman” on his toes as Malenko utilizes his ground game to keep “Juvi” on the mat as much as he can. Despite his loss earlier, the sneaky Syxx still finds his way out to ringside to watch the match. Dean almost seems distracted, but he keeps his cool, and eventually backs away from a dropkick, leaving Guerrera to slam the back of his head into the mat and fall victim to the cloverleaf. He, as many have done before, quickly is forced to succumb to the pressure, as Syxx nods as if he learned something vital tonight.

“Mean” Gene interviews

“Mean” Gene Okerlund is backstage, and after he pimps up the WCW Hotline as talking about a former WCW star finding himself a “northern” home, he brings in his guests at this time, Ted DiBiase along with Richard Stevenson. Ted says that Richard has lived up to his potential so far, but there has been little time for him to actually wrestle around all of his lawyering duties. Ted says that, as such, he has done Stevenson a favor and brought in one of his “best employees” to act as a wrestling coach for him! He then brings in the man who will whip Richard into shape so that he can be the best lawyer-slash-wrestler anyone has ever seen! Gene says that he has to see this, noting that he doesn't think anyone has ever seen a wrestling lawyer before anyways. DiBiase introduces Stevenson and the viewing audience to “his secret weapon” a man who lives, breathes, and eats wrestling, Coach Irvin Alexander!

http://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/wcw-95/mikerotundo.jpg

The Coach comes into frame, overzealously telling Stevenson to get into referee's position. Ted stops him, saying now isn't the time for practice, but Alexander goes into a few deep lunges anyways, as DiBiase says that with the coach on their side, there's no way Richard won't become the best lawyer in pro wrestling history! He cackles loudly, as Irvin tries to catch Richard down with a double leg takedown as we go to break.

When we come back from break, Gene has gotten rid of that trio and brings in another duo, this time of a “more serious” note; the face of the WCW Championship Committee Magnum TA and World's champion “The Natural” Dustin Rhodes! Magnum says that unlike some other people in power around WCW, he isn't out here to take up a whole lot of time and take away from the great stars. He says that while the championship committee have their hands tied regarding Eric Bischoff's eight man tag team match at Spring Stampede – given that they have control only over the title matches themselves and not over matches being made – there is one thing that they can do. He explains that while the other seven men in the match look forward to winning a championship bout with Dustin at World War 3, Rhodes himself has been given no incentive to win the match. Magnum says that with that in mind, the committee have agreed that if Dustin Rhodes scores the pinfall in the match, they will give Dustin a special match at World War 3: he would defend his World championship against none other than Eric Bischoff! Gene screams “Oh my!” and Dustin talks briefly about how great it would be to get his hands on that particular dog himself, in honor of WCW and all of his friends like Magnum. With that, Gene sends us back out to the arena as Monday Nitro continues!

Notes: Mike Rotunda's comedic Coach gimmick has debuted, rating an A.

End of First Hour Recap

After that big announcement that “has shocked the world” according to Tony Schiavone, he is joined again by Jesse “The Body” Ventura at the top of the second hour. Tony thanks Mike Tenay for filling in, asking Jesse where he's been all night? “The Body” laughs, saying that Tony just better keep an eye out next Monday for a very special segment of “The Body Shop” which Jesse was out procuring. Tony says that is next week, but we still have another huge hour of Nitro tonight! Ventura agrees, saying that as much as he hates to see the Kings of Wrestling win, he is looking forward to see who answers the challenge of the largest men in wrestling, The Giant and Vader! Tony says that he hopes it's someone who can stand up to the two “big bullies” but Jesse says whoever it is, they are likely to be squashed like bugs – flat! He slaps his palm to pantomime squashing flat, before laughing loudly. By that time, we begin to hear the entrance music of Steve Austin, and Ventura sends us to “Gary Cappetski” as it's time for our next contest!

Notes: Tony improvised well, but Jesse really performed well, enjoying the freedom to be off-script.

Devon King w/Harley Race vs. Steve Austin

Austin starts this match hot and never really cools back down. It isn't a squash match, as King does manage to get Austin down for a few moments here and there, but he never really seems to hold his momentum for long. Whereas in most of Devon's matches Harley's advice typically gets him in trouble, Race doesn't have time to advise him tonight. Steve's assault leaves no room for him, and the Stunner spells “lights out” for the junior King.

During Austin's post-match celebration, the camera catches someone in the front row; it's the man who we saw talking to Devon last week. He shakes his head, getting up and leaving without saying a word – but making sure that Devon knew he was there all the while. Tony and Jesse wonder aloud about this person's connection to King, and if his presence has gone unnoticed by the KoW or not.

Jake “The Snake” Roberts vs. Steve Skyfire

“The Snake” is on full display here, never even letting the young Skyfire mount much offense. Even when Steve does get in a few impressive maneuvers, especially a flipping clothesline that scored him a solid two count, Roberts comes back strong with a knee lift, leading to a short-arm clothesline and then the DDT. As always, the three count is then academic.

Match Time: 2:50

Notes: Jake came out of the match looking good.

The King of the Outside

“Mean” Gene is back at it again, this time in the aisle as he interviews some Kings. He is joined by “The Outsider” Scott Hall, and Gene talks about how sickening it is to see Kimberly out here laying all over Hall like this. Woman joins, and Gene tries to flirt with her a little, but his fun is ruined as Jeff Jarrett, California Kip, and Paul Orndorff join them in the aisle. Hall does the talking here for everyone, saying that Spring Stampede is only a few weeks away, and all the KoW fans need to order now because they will want to see the massacre of the WCW team that only Kings like them can do. Gene asks the burning question of which King will be allowed to get the title shot, but Scott laughs him off. “Quit tryin' to stir up juice, ya' troublemaker!” he barks at him. Hall closes by saying that, just like the rest of the night, Spring Stampede will be “one more for the good guys” before flashing a smile and sending Jarrett to the ring for his scheduled match.

Notes: Some good improvising done by Gene.

Jeff Jarrett w/Woman vs. “All-American” Ron Simmons

Ron Simmons seems highly upset, but that's pretty usual for him. He looks to take his aggressions out on Jarrett, but the wily KoW member uses cheap stall tactics. While that would frustrate most athletes, Simmons is a veteran himself, and he saves his strength until getting his hands on Jarrett – dominating the man from Memphis once he gets the chance. The match almost seems a foregone conclusion, but the Kings of Wrestling always have an ace up their sleeve, and in this match that “ace” comes in the form of “Mr. Wonderful” Paul Orndorff. Mark Curtis finds himself distracted when Woman falls from the apron and sprains her ankle, giving Paul ample time to enter the ring and drill Ron with a jumping piledriver. Even that doesn't hold down the “All-American” but adding on a DDT on a steel chair from Jarrett is enough to score the tainted very victory, causing Tony to ask if perhaps Jarrett has just as much a chance as Piper, Savage, or any of the men from the WCW side to get the promised World title shot after Spring Stampede.

Lighting the Fire

Mike Tenay is backstage now, and he has a special guest tonight: Bam Bam Bigelow! Tenay says that Bigelow came clear to the arena in order to do one thing, and that was send a message. Bam Bam agrees, saying that he is sending this message out to one person in particular: his opponent for next week on Monday Nitro, the man who made his new best friend Diamond Dallas Page have to leave WCW, Scott Hall! He says that Hall has lit a fire under Bigelow, and there's no way it's going to be quenched with anything less than blood! Bigelow adds that once he's made Hall pay for his actions, then he's turning his full attention to the man he got in a brawl with last week at Pro, Bubba Rogers – saying that we will just see who the biggest, baddest man is in the ring!

A Farewell Next Week

Back in the locker room of the Kings of Wrestling, Eric Bischoff and Harley Race are discussing things. “Sting” and California Kip are seen lounging in the background until Nick Bockwinkel approaches them with his client, Wrath. Nick tells them that he would love to do more for them, but all men must one day reach their limit – and he is at his. Nick tells them that he was one of the founding members of the Kings of Wrestling, and he is proud of having taken the group as far as he did; but next week's Nitro will be his final night with the group. Eric and Harley thank Nick for his service in the KoW, and Eric tells him that in honor of Bockwinkel's final evening with WCW, he will manage Wrath one final time to see him destroy Dustin Rhodes en route to the World championship! Eric says that they will throw him a going-away part “fit for a true king” as well. Nick smiles, saying that he will be there. He and Wrath leave the room, as Eric and Race go back to discussing things.

WCW World Tag Team Championships: The Kings' Monsters w/Woman vs. “Dog-Faced Gremlin” Rick Steiner and “The Total Package” Lex Luger

The crowd are shocked as Rick Steiner is joined by “The Total Package” for this one! Tony says that apparently Rick could not get through to his brother to join him for this match, and Jesse immediately dubs it a controversial move by teaming with who he calls “the cause of the Steiners' troubles” in Lex. Luger begins the match with Vader, and the posedown that ensues sees the crowd cheer loudly for “The Total Package” but (mostly) boo when “The Monster” flexes. When the two finally do make contact, Jesse jokes that it almost looks like a Godzilla movie as the two jockey for position in a collar-and-elbow tie-up. “The Monster” wins the first round by backing Luger into the ropes, but Tommy Young forces a break before Vader can do much damage. “The Total Package” has the majority of crowd support on his side when they lock up again though, and he forces Vader back into the ropes this time! Vader breaks the hold and whips Luger to the ropes, but Lex ducks a clothesline, turning around and flexing at Vader, who is taken aback briefly. Luger gets Vader into a headlock, Tony saying he may be one of the only men who can actually control a behemoth like Vader in such a hold, as he backs to the corner. He tags out to Rick, who comes in swinging. He continues the headlock, but Vader shoves him away to the ropes; but he is met with a vicious Steinerline! Rick and Lex switch back and forth for a few moments, but it's obvious that their timing is not as slick as Rick and Scott's. That lack of experience comes to haunt them, as Luger tries setting up a double team clothesline, but they don't have their routine mapped out quite right, as The Giant reaches in and yanks Rick over the top rope and sends him crashing down to the hard floor! Vader makes the official tag to his partner, as Jesse says that we are about to go from the frying pan to the fire. Giant simply devours Steiner, smothering him with his massive hand over the mouth and nose in the corner. He breaks before the five count, but then begins blatantly choking him. He hurls Steiner halfway across the ring with a body slam, but Rick manages to kick out at about “two and three quarters” says Tony. Luger tries to rally the crowd, but it is of little use when The Giant simply walks on Steiner's back! The tag is made back out to Vader, who is just as relentless with his usual hard-hitting offense. Rick tries to come back when he wriggles out of a slam, but his Steinerline is only thrown at half it's usual power, and Vader clamps him into a vice-like bearhug! He drains the power out of Steiner, and then tags in The Giant again, who continues the bearhug! Jesse says that it looks like two tree trunks wrapped around “The Dog Faced Gremlin” and he appears to be fading. But after he heroically raises his arm instead of letting it drop the third time, he breaks out by living up to that moniker: he bites The Giant's nose until he breaks the hold! Giant tags out, in obvious pain, as Rick crawls toward……. the wrong corner? The reason is because Lex isn't where he should be, as California Kip had sneaked down the aisle and pulled him off the apron before slamming him into the ring barricade! But in that confusion, Scott Steiner had come down to the ringside area as well, and he is yelling to his brother! Jesse says that Rick cannot tag Scott in because he isn't an official participant in this match, so what is he doing? Rick gets to where Scott is standing, but all Scott does is ask him why he's out here teaming with Luger! Rick, in a daze, tries to compose himself for an answer, but there is no time to answer as Vader attacks! The Giant grabs Scott around the neck and hurls him into the ring post, as in the ring Vader drops a ring-shaking Vader Bomb on Rick's fallen body, and the three count ends up being academic.

After the match, it appears Kip has fled the scene just as fast as he had earlier appeared, and Scott is in checking on Rick… or not, as instead of simply checking on his brother, he's berating him! Luger comes in to try and play peacemaker once again, but Scott shoves him, saying that he's been causing trouble for the Steiner Brothers for months now! As this is all going on in the ring, Vader and The Giant are in a fight as Cactus Jack and Brian Pillman appeared out of nowhere and started brawling with them! It's complete pandemonium as a shoving match is going on between friends in the ring, and a knock-down drag-out brawl is going on between bitter rivals outside the ring! We will return in a moment, fans!

Match Time: 9:35

Notes: Vader looked good out there, but Rick and Lex just have zero chemistry.

A Huge Addition to the Stampede!

As we come back from our final commercial break, Randy Savage and Roddy Piper are now in the ring. Tony says that security managed to get everything sorted out during the break, and all four of the brawling men were ejected from the building out separate doors and the Steiners were escorted away with Scott leaving the arena altogether. “The Macho Man” says that there is nothing that the Kings of Wrestling can't do or take, as Jeff Jarrett, Giant, and Vader have just proven. Piper says that will continue until Spring Stampede, when they forcibly take the number one contender's spot and then take the World title back at World War 3. Roddy says that ever since they gave Hogan “his walking papers” the Kings of Wrestling have been running just as hot as ever, running roughshod over WCW stars up and down the line, and one of them getting the championship will be the final icing on the cake.

Dustin Rhodes interrupts, telling the duo that while, yes, the KoW are not down and out whatsoever, there is one thing that they have yet to take: and that is the World Heavyweight championship, because it is still around the waist of “The Natural”! Savage screams back that he won't have it for long, but Rhodes tells him that is what he said the last two times they fought, and he still has it! Piper holds Savage back, calming him down by saying that the time and place will be set in stone as of Spring Stampede, because there is no way that “egomaniacs” like Windham and Steamboat will be able to work together when a title match is on the line – also adding “And can anybody really trust Jake Roberts?” Rhodes answers that it doesn't matter who he can trust, because he trusts in himself, and says that at World War 3, he will make sure that it's Eric Bischoff who he steps into the ring with, as he “takes that little boy to the woodshed for the spankin' his daddy shoulda gave him a long time ago!”

The crowd cheers that loudly, but no more words are said until Eric himself appears. He first of all tells Dustin not to count his chickens before they hatch as far as that goes, as he has faith that one of his men will be victorious. But he says that the reason he didn't come out and say anything about that added stipulation earlier is because he has just gotten off the phone with someone who will be making a special appearance at Spring Stampede. Someone we haven't seen in months who wants to address WCW, someone who sounds like they have thought a lot about how they were acting before and want to do the ring thing now: none other than Hulk Hogan! Tony and Jesse are stunned as the crowd murmurs amongst itself about this, and we go off the air with Tony asking if Hulk Hogan is staying black and white or coming back to yellow and red after the KoW's attack? The only way to find out will be to order Spring Stampede, but that's all for this edition of Monday Nitro, goodnight fans!

Notes: Eric underperformed.

After a victorious debut on Saturday Night's Lame Event over the Not-So Great Kokina, He makes his victorious Raw debut in a six-man tag team match, as “Hunter Hearst-Helmsley” teams with the corpse of Mean Mark Callous and Tonto to defeat Owen's brother, the false Sumo champion, and the face painted freak. Option 5: Mean Gene’s backstage pass!

WCW are always looking to bring out the best in professional wrestling, and it was never any more evident than this past Monday. WCW have made a decided shift in their product, wanting to appear less mainstream and therefore promising to provide more big action rather than relying solely on big names. The feeling is that it will give stars like Rey Mysterio and Chris Jericho more room to grow while less of the crowd know who they are. The first show under this new philosophy has been a rousing success, showing that even in a world without iconic men like Hulk Hogan, Ric Flair, and Sting, World Championship Wrestling will always be a place for fans to watch the best action in the world!

Option 6: The Monday Night War Neilson ratings!

Nitro on TNT scored a great 7.80 rating last week, while Raw suffered with a 4.37.

Option 7: Tony Schiavone’s moment of the week!

I, for one, will be so excited to see Hulk Hogan at Spring Stampede! That announcement certainly shifted a lot of the attention of the show to what will happen there, will Hogan clarify his standing with the Kings of Wrestling? There is a lot of intrigue to be had, and the only way to know what happens in the future is to keep watching World Championship Wrestling!

Option 8: Mike Tenay’s International Report!

New Japan scored a major coup by re-signing long time employee and former two time IWGP World champion Shinya Hashimoto. The 30 year old Hashimoto has not been pinned or made to submit in NJPW as of yet this year (only losing twice in six man tag matches) and so in staying with the company he may be looking to make a third run at the IWGP championship. In other news, Blue Panther has won the UWA World Middleweight title from Villano V, the first time that the 35 year old has held the title.

Option 9: A special gift from the WCW Catalog!

This past January, the Lethal Lottery had never lived up to it's name more, with the World title hanging in the balance, but only one man was able to retrieve the glory – and now you can too! This month, relive the emotional World Heavyweight championship win of Dustin Rhodes, as Battlebowl is yours to own on VHS! Order your copy today!

Cactus Jack and “Loose Cannon” Brian Pillman must be wrong in the heads to challenge Vader and The Giant!

The United States championship is up for grabs as much as pride!

Dave Finlay takes on the man who brought him to WCW in the first place, Lord Steven Regal!

Also in action...

“All-American” Ron Simmons squares off against “Mr. Wonderful” Paul Orndorff!

The Flying Spyder and King Puma will face Dr. Karnage's team of The Willow… and Surge?!

Sonny Onoo's hired gun The Annihilator looks to take out Ultimo Dragon!

And a huge interview featuring none other than Hulk Hogan!

Card subject to change.

Official Prediction Card

WCW (Dustin Rhodes, Barry Windham, Ricky Steamboat, and Jake Roberts) vs. KoW (Roddy Piper, Randy Savage, Scott Hall, and Jeff Jarrett)

Extra Point: Who wins the fall? Roddy Piper.

Comments: The KoW side is much more loaded and ready to go. Piper gets the fall so he gets to face Dustin and take the title home.

Steve Austin vs. Arn Anderson

Comments: Double A doesn't stand a chance.

Lex Luger vs. California Kip

Comments: While I could see an upset win, a DQ here after a Scott Steiner attack is a safer option.

Brian Pillman and Cactus Jack vs. The Kings' Monsters

Comments: They might not be right in the head, but they will get the job done.

Dave Finlay vs. Lord Steven Regal

Comments: Oh, I love this one. I hope you can find something for Finlay after this feud, but Regal ain't losing.

Ron Simmons vs. Paul Orndorff

Comments: Simmons has more shelf life than Mr. Wonderful.

The Flying Spyder and King Puma vs. Surge and The Willow

Comments: OMG DA HARDY BOYZZZZZ

Ultimo Dragon vs. The Annihilator

Comments: Ultimo just turned, so tradition says he MUST WIN.

Will Hulk Hogan's interview find him siding with:

A. WCW, brother;

B. KoW, brother;

C. Neither, brother.

I think we won't get to find out his allegiance yet, as someone will attack him.

Worldwide matches:

BG and Brad Armstrong vs. ???

Comments: I'm thinking that Devon King and...BUBBA KING will be thy challengers, BROTHER. Plus, the Armstrongs have been doing absolutely nothing with the straps.

The Young Pistols vs. The Ladykillers

Comments: The Killers vs. The Kings has me salivating. If you put ''Surge'' and ''Willow'' on the table as well, then you have my love.

Tiebreaker: How long will the main event last? 19 minutes.

(Closest to the right time without going over wins)

Extra Point: Who wins the fall? Scott Hall

Comments: Dustin's looked strong so far, and this match allows the KoW to gain some traction back without Dustin looking weak. Plus, I want that Scott Hall main event run

Steve Austin vs. Arn Anderson

Comments: Love both guys, but Austin is the way to go

Lex Luger vs. California Kip

Comments: Not willing to give Kip the upset yet

Official Prediction Card

WCW (Dustin Rhodes, Barry Windham, Ricky Steamboat, and Jake Roberts) vs. KoW (Roddy Piper, Randy Savage, Scott Hall, and Jeff Jarrett)

Extra Point: Who wins the fall? Scott Hall

Comments: Good way to get KoW over without Dustin dropping the title

Steve Austin vs. Arn Anderson

Comments: Austin's just building up for the eventual rematch with Flair

Lex Luger vs. California Kip

Comments: Luger's more over, simple as

Brian Pillman and Cactus Jack vs. The Kings' Monsters

Comments: Dream tag team, much?

Dave Finlay vs. Lord Steven Regal

Comments: Loved their match around this time IRL

Ron Simmons vs. Paul Orndorff

Comments: Orndorff's on his way out, surely?

The Flying Spyder and King Puma vs. Surge and The Willow

Comments: Team Xtreme wins to kickstart the rise of WCW's future greatest tag team

Ultimo Dragon vs. The Annihilator

Comments: I am a huge Ultimo mark

Will Hulk Hogan's interview find him siding with:

A. WCW, brother;

B. KoW, brother;

C. Neither, brother.

Hogan will denounce both sides, saying he didn't care about WCW in the first place, but the KoW betrayed, meaning that he's a "lone wolf"

Official Prediction Card

WCW (Dustin Rhodes, Barry Windham, Ricky Steamboat, and Jake Roberts) vs. KoW (Roddy Piper, Randy Savage, Scott Hall, and Jeff Jarrett)

Extra Point: Who wins the fall? Dustin Rhodes

Comments: It's 60/40 here -- for two reasons: first, this could be "shoot/work" and Bischoff could have a master plan involving himself in the main event. Second, Dustin winning could lead to a "new" top contender, possibly outside KoW -- and while Double J is reasonably young, the rest are mid-to-late thirties or older.

Steve Austin vs. Arn Anderson

Comments: Arn is great, but he isn't Stone Cold at this point -- he's a definitive gatekeeper. Austin goes over, and Ric-Austin II is set up next PPV.

Lex Luger vs. California Kip

Comments: Kip is not in Lugers... weight class.

Brian Pillman and Cactus Jack vs. The Kings' Monsters

Comments: Stable-team and Big Man Team gets the win here...

Dave Finlay vs. Lord Steven Regal

Comments: Too early to lose... yet.

Ron Simmons vs. Paul Orndorff

Comments: Orndorff old, did not age "wonderfully"

The Flying Spyder and King Puma vs. Surge and The Willow

Comments: Big Guys beat the smaller guys

Ultimo Dragon vs. The Annihilator

Comments: Dragon simply too over at this point.

Will Hulk Hogan's interview find him siding with:

A. WCW, brother;

B. KoW, brother;

C. Neither, brother.

Worldwide matches:

BG and Brad Armstrong vs. ???

Comments: Armstrongs simply too old.

The Young Pistols vs. The Ladykillers

Comments: usually, a ladies man gimmick goes to a jobber, unless in the ME.
