WCW (Dustin Rhodes, Barry Windham, Ricky Steamboat, and Jake Roberts) vs. KoW (Roddy Piper, Randy Savage, Scott Hall, and Jeff Jarrett)

Extra Point: Who wins the fall? Ol' RP

Comments: If you're nearing the endgame for the diary I could see a certain amount of sense in WCW winning and Bischoff subsequently getting the hell beat out of him, but a match with one of these four would be more compelling. Randy already had his chances against Dustin and I don't think Hall or JJ are at that level at this point, so I'll go with Roddy.

Official Prediction Card

WCW (Dustin Rhodes, Barry Windham, Ricky Steamboat, and Jake Roberts) vs. KoW (Roddy Piper, Randy Savage, Scott Hall, and Jeff Jarrett)

Extra Point: Who wins the fall? Piper

Comments: I definitely see the Kings picking up the win here. Dustin has been booked as a great champion so far and this seems like a great opportunity to give the Kings a win without hurting Dustin in any way.

Steve Austin vs. Arn Anderson

Comments: Could see a cheap win for Arn here, but I think Austin takes it and keeps on rolling.

Lex Luger vs. California Kip

Comments: I don't see Luger dropping this one.

Brian Pillman and Cactus Jack vs. The Kings' Monsters

Comments: This is a tough one. Pillman and Cactus are a great team, but so are the Monsters. Can a team as crazy as Pillman and Cactus Jack manage to get on, and stay on, the same page? I'm guessing yes.

Dave Finlay vs. Lord Steven Regal

Comments: Should be one hell of a wrestling match.

Ron Simmons vs. Paul Orndorff

Comments: Much more of a future in Simmons than in Orndoff.

(To me, the most interesting possible outcome here is if Hogan chooses to stand on his own here. That would really open things up even more than they already are.)

Not sure how I never noticed this before..

Good lord. And people think the tag team division is bad today...

Right?! It bothers me some, actually. I changed it, I actually had the wrong year down (Bob and Mo have only had the titles since September of 95, not 94) but they won the belts from The Barbarian and Nikolai Volkoff, who won them from the Headshrinkers. These weird teams make no sense. Bob and Mo defended their belts at WM11, defeating the created team of The Exploders: Bob Horowitz and Reno Riggins.

Part of the problem, however, is that when I started this game, it was way before the patch that made AI companies activate more pre-set teams. So Fatu and Samu are not listed as a team in the WWF, because they were set to "None" at the start of the game.

WCW Monday Nitro

April 1st, 1996

Held at: RiverCentre in St. Paul, Minnesota (Mid West)

Commentary: Tony Schiavone and Jesse “The Body” Ventura

Attendance: 9,000 (sold out!)

Show Runtime: Two Hours

Rating: B

This show increased our popularity in 14 regions.

Last week on Monday Nitro!

The show opens with a video package highlighting the end of last week's Nitro, where Eric Bischoff – his back against the wall due to Magnum TA's huge announcement that he may have to face Dustin Rhodes – announces that Hulk Hogan will make an appearance for Spring Stampede! Following the opening video and pyro display, Tony Schiavone, Mike Tenay, and Jesse Ventura welcome everyone to Monday Nitro! Tony takes a moment to explain that in some previous press releases, Spring Stampede was announced as taking place on April 14th, but that date has been changed; Spring Stampede will come to everyone live THIS Sunday night, only six days away on Easter Sunday! Jesse says that he can't wait to see Spring Stampede, but (as he blows a party popper toward Tony) he says that tonight is a big night as well, because one of the Kings of Wrestling's founding members is leaving! Tenay says that tonight in St. Paul, the place that the AWA called home, perhaps one of the most decorated men from that defunct promotion will hang it up tonight as Nick Bockwinkel is leaving. Tony wonders what the KoW may have planned for the evening, but the one thing we know for sure is that Bockwinkel's monster, Wrath, will get a chance at the World's champion, Dustin Rhodes, tonight! Jesse also says that he is planning to have a “big exposé” tonight on The Body Shop, which is why he is allowing Mike to take over for the first hour of the show, so that he can go prepare his notes. As Jesse heads backstage, Tony and Mike send us to the ring for some cruiserweight action!

Rating: C

WCW World Cruiserweight Championship: “Iceman” Dean Malenko vs. Chavo Guerrero Jr.

Tony wonders if we are going to see Syxx out here for this match, given all the scouting he had been doing on Dean Malenko and Rey Mysterio Jr. the past few weeks. However, if Syxx did have any intentions upon watching the match, Dean didn't give him much of a chance to come out to ringside, as he did a good job of grounding Chavo. Guerrero comes back with a short burst of technical acumen, taking Malenko down with a headlock takeover followed by a surfboard stretch, but in the end Dean is able to block Chavo from locking in the Gory Special, take him down to the mat with a gutbuster, and lock in the cloverfeaf for another successful title defense.

Match Time: 4:51

Notes: The match was held back by short length.

Rating: C

The Party is On

After that, we head back to the Kings of Wrestling's dressing room, which is decorated with balloons and streamers. California Kip and “Sting” are shaking hands with Nick Bockwinkel, as Vader and The Giant patrol the area. Eric Bischoff and Harley Race talk to Nick, Bischoff asking him if he's sure he wants to leave like this; after all, by the end of the night he may be managing the World champion. Nick tells him that tonight, in St. Paul, it's just finally time “for this sixty-one year old body to rest”. Race says it will be a shame to lose his presence in the KoW, but that they will make him proud. Roddy Piper gets everyone's attention, offering a toast to one of the founders of the Kings of Wrestling. He says that “in many ways, this group has always been Nick's baby, and he gave up everything to raise it,” saying that they dedicate this evening completely to the esteemed career of Nick Bockwinkel.

Notes: Piper's performance was very good.

Rating: B-

Steve Austin vs. “Das Wunderkind” Alex Wright

Before the match, “Mean” Gene Okerlund meets up with Steve Austin in the hallway. Gene asks Austin for some thoughts on both tonight and Spring Stampede this weekend, saying that he is facing two highly talented members of two very decorated groups within WCW all in the same week! Austin tells Gene that he doesn't care if he has to face fifteen men from the Himalayas along with their goats – whether it's Arn Anderson or Alex Wright, it don't matter. Because both men are stepping into the ring with Steve Austin, and that means they're in for the fight of their lives, and once he drops them “on that stack of dimes they call a neck” with the Stunner, it'll be time for a few beers and then on to take down Ric Flair too, and that's the bottom line!

The match itself is very good, but it is not without some Horsemen shenanigans; Eddy Guerrero sits in on commentary alongside Schiavone and Tenay, putting Austin down at every chance he gets while cheering on Wright. Alex's speed advantage is very apparent from the opening bell, as he keeps away from Austin while hitting him when he gets an opening. Steve finally catches him, and he pummels Wright in the corner, however Alex is able to thumb him in the eye while Randy Anderson was breaking the two up. From there, Wright goes back to his fast paced offense, but throws in some of his technical skill as well, taking Austin over with a series of arm drags that gets Austin off balance. Wright nearly scores the pin after a high standing dropkick, but it is not to be. Eddy says that while he does cheer Wright to win this match, if Alex loses he will not be surprised, because “after all, he wasn't even in consideration to be a Horseman”. The crowd are solidly behind Austin, as they cheer him on, willing him out of every possible predicament that Alex can try to put him in, finally paying off as Austin catches Wright with a Lou Thesz press! Austin hits a pointed elbow to the forehead, but only scores a two count. Wright pushes away from the Stunner, and looks to hit his bridging german suplex. However Austin is able to block it, and he reaches back to grab him and still hit the Stunner! Three slaps of the mat later, and this match is over.

Tony can be heard asking “What are you doing?” and we find out what he is talking about as Eddy Guerrero slides into the ring almost as soon as the bell rings. He hits Austin with a standing dropkick of his own, before starting to taunt the downed redneck. Eddy looks to continue some punishment, but Austin begins fighting back! Wild right hands swing the fight into his favor – but that's when he is chopblocked from behind by Owen Hart! Together, the two junior members of the Horsemen pummel Austin down to the mat, until security come out and force them to the back. Tony and Mike question if Austin may be injured, as the Horsemen have done all they can to harm Austin en route to Spring Stampede!

Match Time: 11:57

Notes: Austin performed some masterful fan interaction, while Gene improvised well.

Ratings: B- / B / C+

California Dreamin'

We head backstage following a commercial break, where Mike Tenay is standing by alongside California Kip and Woman. Kip is all smiles as he says that he's glad Spring Stampede is this coming Sunday, because he is so excited to get “Lex Loser” in the ring again. Kip says that he has beaten Lex twice (and gives Tenay dirty looks when Mike points out they were by count out and disqualification, not pinfalls) saying that this time, it'll prove without a shadow of a doubt that California Kip is the new total package! Kip says that he has one more ace up his sleeve, and that's the man in his corner for the matchup; and with that, he brings in Sting! But is it really Sting? Tony seems unconvinced, but Mike is pushed out of frame by the blank stare of the man next to Kip. Kip then says that it's time to get back to the party, as Tenay heads back out to his commentary duties.

Rating: B-

Party Pooper

Out in the aisle awaits “Mean” Gene now, and after he talks about fans wanting to call the WCW Hotline this coming week for all the backstage news about Spring Stampede, he welcomes out none other than the WCW World's Heavyweight champion, “The Natural” Dustin Rhodes! Gene asks Rhodes what he thinks about Nick Bockwinkel leaving the Kings of Wrestling and WCW tonight, and regarding the match that Eric Bischoff set up for him tonight against the monstrous Wrath. Dustin says that he has a ton of respect for what Nick accomplished in this city, in this building that he stands in tonight, comparing the history of Nick Bockwinkel in the St. Paul Civic Center to the same kind of history his father used to make in the Greensboro Coliseum. Rhodes says that unfortunately, tonight will not be his evening; because he does not plan on losing his title to Nick's monster tonight, instead he “will be playing the party pooper” because tonight, just like at Spring Stampede, will be a night for “The Natural” and not for the Kings of Wrestling! He says that he's beaten Randy Savage, he's beaten Vader, and he's come back from every beating that they have tried to inflict upon him – and this will be no different.

Rating: B+

Rick Martel vs. Steve Skyfire

Just a short squash match here, as Martel doesn't let the young Skyfire even get out of the proverbial gates here. Tony and Mike mostly discuss the rest of the night during this, as Rick puts on a clinic that ends just as abruptly as it began with the Quebec crab.

Match Time: 3:29

Notes: Match was penalized for length.

Rating: C

The Twilight Express w/Stan Lane vs. Harlem Heat

While this match isn't quite the same level of squash as the previous match, Harlem Heat waste little time here. Bobby and Terry are certainly two very game veterans, and with Lane at their side they are able to put together a great string of offense here, but it's all about the Heat here. Once things get serious, the Towering Inferno comes almost out of nowhere to put Taylor down for the count.

Match Time: 6:55

Rating: B-

The Body Shop

Jesse “The Body” Ventura is now out in the ring, and he says that it is time for another great edition of The Body Shop! Jesse says that as much as he doesn't care for the man as a person, he is all about the ratings, and so he set up this interview through Eric Bischoff to bring out none other than “The Outsider” Scott Hall! Hall comes to the ring with Kimberly Page at his side, as Jesse welcomes him to the Body Shop. Ventura wastes no time in the hard-hitting questions, asking about the marriage of Dallas and Kimberly. Hall talks instead of Kim, saying that he and Kim were good friends (winking into the camera) since long before she ever met Dallas. He says how when DDP started telling Kim to stay backstage, that was just a way of shoving her into the backseat because he couldn't handle the fans cheering for her instead of him! Kim nods and agrees to all of this, as Scott tells how she came to him to vent her problems like she always has over the years, “and, well, one thing has always led to another with me and Kimmy”. Jesse asks if there's any message that the two want to send to Dallas, and Hall says that Page needs to just stay home – and if he doesn't, then he knows where to find Kim; “down there.” The two walk away as Tony calls them “utterly disgusting” and we head to a commercial.

Notes: Hall worked the crowd into a frenzy out there, the freedom to improvise his biggest advantage.

Rating: B-

First Hour Recap

Another round of pyro goes off as we enter into the second hour of Nitro! Tony and Mike are rejoined by Jesse, and the three talk about the upcoming main event of Dustin Rhodes and Wrath. Jesse seems to feel that the emotion of the night may be enough to propel us to a new champion, while Tony and Mike both think that Nick Bockwinkel may definitely want to end the evening on a high note, and likely has something up his sleeves.

Rating: C+

Ricky “The Dragon” Steamboat and “Blackjack” Barry Windham vs. The Ladykillers w/Rick Rude

Rick Rude's young Ladykillers are in for a tough task tonight, as they take on two of the men in the huge eight man tag team match this Sunday at Spring Stampede. Sexton and Scott make use of all the things that they've been taught, but they are easily distracted by a beautiful lady in the front row. Rude yells at them to pay attention, but that is when Steamboat's big comeback hits, and he makes the tag out to Windham. “The Blackjack” runs wild all over both of his young opponents, planting both men with hard clotheslines. He hurls Steel over the top with a running clothesline, then turns around and pushes Impact, crotching him on the top rope! Windham goes up, and he drills Sexton to the mat with his patented superplex, floating over and scoring the one, two, three.

As Rude chastises his men for not keeping their mind on business when they were in such a big match, Gene Okerlund comes out to meet “The Dragon” and “The Blackjack” in the aisle. He asks the two about Spring Stampede, reiterating that Eric Bischoff has put the seed into people's minds that the team of Dustin, Ricky, Barry, and Jake Roberts cannot work together with a shot at the World's title up for grabs. Steamboat says that in most circumstances, that's true; however, he knows that if he wanted a title shot, with Dustin holding the belt, all he has to do is ask and Rhodes will talk to Magnum TA and set up a title match for him, and the same goes for Windham, and probably the same goes for Roberts. Barry agrees, saying that while he would do anything to get a taste of that gold again, he will fight for WCW this Sunday with a clear conscience. Steamboat closes, saying that “The Dragon” will be ready to breathe fire all over the Kings of Wrestling this Sunday!

Match Time: 7:50

Notes: The match was penalized for length, though the performance of Steamboat stood out as being good.

Ratings: C+ / B-

“Loose Cannon” Brian Pillman vs. Shane Helms

Just barely a match, as Pillmania literally runs wild on young Helms. Brian takes over at the start and doesn't let up until hitting the Loaded Gun jumping DDT for a win, probably not even breaking a sweat.

Match Time: 1:42

Notes: The match was penalized for length, but Pillman looked good out there.

“Mean” Gene is back in the aisle again, and this time he brings out his guest at this time, “The Total Package” Lex Luger! Gene says that Lex heard earlier tonight that California Kip was going to have Sting in his corner at Spring Stampede, but Luger laughs it off, saying that there is no way that is the real Sting! Luger says that he may not know what Sting has in his mind, but he's been friends with Sting for so long that he knows in his heart that Sting will not join the Kings of Wrestling. The focus then turns to Kip, as Gene questions Lex about Kip calling himself “The New Total Package” but Luger scoffs at that. “You can't be a new total package when the only total package is still here!” he claims. He says that “All of the good things come in The Total Package!” and you can just hear the crowd groan as Luger doesn't even realize that the teenagers in the audience are laughing at him for his gaffe. Gene loses his composure completely, and he just does what he can to close the segment, bringing up the Steiner Brothers. Luger says that he talked to Rick and Scott backstage, bridged some gaps with them, heart to heart, and if Kip wants to have Sting in his corner at Spring Stampede, Luger will do him one better, and “in my corner will be Rick and Scott Steiner Brothers!” Rick and Scott come out and the three men raise their arms to big cheers from the crowd as Gene leaves the area, letting Lex and the Steiners to head to the ring for Luger's upcoming match.

Luger's opponent doesn't come out alone, though, as “The Smasher” Barry Darsow is out alongside partner “The Beast” Brian Adams! Harley Race leads his Chain Gang to the ring, but they are met in the aisle by the Steiner Brothers! Rick and Scott get into a staredown with Brian and Barry, and it looks like we could have a brawl on our hands! However, “Handsome Harley” is one of the great minds of our business, and he sneaks through to talk to Mark Curtis. Mark goes to Gary Cappetta, and Race smiles as the announcement is made that anyone who does not have a manager's license for tonight must leave the ringside area! The Steiners are forced to leave by security, but so is Adams, leaving only Race at ringside.

Notes: Lex screwed up his promo when off-script, and it threw Gene off as well.

“The Total Package” Lex Luger vs. “The Smasher” Barry Darsow w/Harley Race

There is only one problem with all of this: that while Barry Darsow is a deadly, vicious opponent and a very large man on his own account, Lex Luger is on such a roll of momentum and crowd support that there is no way that anything is phasing “The Total Package” tonight. Race interferes on Darsow's accord where he can, but Lex Luger charges back with fire and vigor, drilling Barry with a powerslam, a charging forearm smash, and then heaving him up into the Torture Rack! With Mark Curtis right on point, Harley can do nothing but watch as Barry is forced to signal his submission.

Redneck Revenge

Owen Hart and Eddy Guerrero are all smiles backstage as they head to the parking garage, talking about how they destroyed Steve Austin. They joke that he probably won't even make it to face Arn on Sunday, as they enter the Horsemen's limo, Eddy saying “Hello mamacitas!” to the waiting ladies that always accompany the Horsemen. However, sounds start coming out of the limo as it shakes back and forth – and out of the limo falls Eddy face first! He scratches and screams, but gets pulled back in and the door slams shut! Tony asks what is happening in there, and the answer comes when the door opens again and Steve Austin steps out! He seems a bit worse for wear, but when the camera zooms into the inside of the limousine, Owen and Eddy are both laid out! Jesse says that the most important thing is, what happened to the girls that should have been in there? Tony offers that maybe they could smell Bobby “The Weasel” back at the hotel room and didn't show up anyways.

WCW World Heavyweight Championship: “The Natural” Dustin Rhodes vs. Wrath w/Nick Bockwinkel

The match has a bit of pageantry to start, as Nick Bockwinkel is given a hero's welcome into the arena, Tony saying this is definitely “The house that Bockwinkel built”. The Minnesota crowd are respectful for Bockwinkel, but most seem to be booing him due to his allegiances with the Kings of Wrestling. Also, Wrath comes out along with his mentor, the man who found him and brought him to the KoW, and he stands watching the entryway for his opponent.

“The Natural” makes a beeline for his more musclebound opponent, his head first strategy doing minimal damage however as Wrath easily shoves Dustin away. Wrath dominates the matchup for the opening few minutes, as he throws the champion around from one side of the ring to the other as a chant of “Nat-ur-al!” echoes through the Rivercentre. Wrath scores a huge shoulderblock, but only gets a count of two from it. Wrath locks on a bearhug, trying to squeeze the will out of Rhodes. Dustin finds his way out by biting though, and despite complaints from Bockwinkel on the outside of the ring, Tommy Young does not disqualify him. Dustin fires back with a series of clotheslines, rocking the monster from the KoW before hitting him with a flying tackle! Wrath is staggered, and Dustin picks him up and hits a big bodyslam! Wrath is down, and Bockwinkel gets up on the ring apron! But Rhodes saw him, and he shoves him back down to the floor! Wrath charges, but Rhodes ducks and hits the ropes on the other side, before drilling Wrath with a surprise bulldog! Wrath starts to stand back up, as Tony is shocked, saying that nobody has ever gotten right back up from Dustin's bulldog, even as groggy as Wrath seems. But by the time he has staggered to his feet, Rhodes is on the second rope, and he leaps off, hitting another bulldog! This time, Rhodes is able to go for the cover, and a dazed Wrath is unable to kick out, as Rhodes scores another big title defense over the Kings of Wrestling.

A KoW Style Farewell

Dustin Rhodes leaves the ring, offering to shake Bockwinkel's hand on his way out, but Nick pays no mind, so Rhodes leaves. After Dustin has left the arena, Roddy Piper comes out of the back, flanked by Vader and The Giant. Jesse says that this must be bringing the party out here, as the three men enter the ring. Piper, excited, shakes hands with Nick, moving forward and kissing Bockwinkel on the forehead. He screams to the front row to stand up for Nick Bockwinkel, but a surprising voice is heard…

It's Larry Zbyszko, out of the back with a microphone. He commends Nick for all the things that he has done in his career, listing off all of his AWA World championship reigns, former WCW commissioner, and founding member of the Kings of Wrestling, “well earned, I might add”. Larry says that, unfortunately, there is only one opponent that no man can defeat, “and that is Father Time.” He says that many people would indeed call this “the house that Bock built” along with guys like Verne Gagne, the Road Warriors, Larry Hennig… and Larry Zbyszko. Larry says that if anything, perhaps more people would think that Bockwinkel built the Rivercentre than any of the other names mentioned; “And well, with all due respect? That just won't do.” He suddenly attacks Nick, knocking him to the mat with a punch! Piper, Vader, Giant, and Wrath seem shocked – but Piper tells Giant to get him! The Giant fells Bockwinkel with a huge punch, as the fans begin booing loudly! Roddy kneels down over Bockwinkel, and the camera catches him telling Nick that he may have helped start it, but he's too soft to finish it! Piper starts punching Nick now, and there's a huge mugging going on in the middle of the ring! Wrath seems conflicted, as Bockwinkel brought him to his position right now, but Piper gives him an order – and he levels Nick with a clothesline! Tony questions if Bockwinkel has any friends back there who would come out and help with this, but Jesse says that nobody is coming; when Nick sold his soul to form the Kings of Wrestling, he sold out all of WCW!

It feels like quite a while, but the pleas of the crowd finally are answered, as Dustin Rhodes and Lex Luger emerge from the back! By this time, Nick's suit has been ripped up and Piper and Zbyszko have spraypainted Bockwinkel's bare back with the “KoW” letters, but the two fresh fan favorites coming out are the sign for the KoW to leave. Dustin and Lex check on Bockwinkel, as Jesse says that “if you don't have friends, I guess enemies of your enemies will have to do” and Tony tells fans that this Sunday is Spring Stampede, and it appears that even when we thought the KoW was losing a man tonight, instead they have just gained a potentially more dangerous one in Larry Zbyszko. Goodnight, everybody!

Notes: Piper's performance was good, but Wrath performed poorly alongside all these legendary figures. Larry's new gimmick, a weaselly old school heel, was met with great response, garnering an A, however he looked dreadful out there.

-----------------------------------------------

There's the final WCW show for Nick Bockwinkel. I put it in St. Paul purposely for that reason. Nick's contract was up, and re-signing him or not was left up to SkipMartin for a SuperBrawl prize.

The Hotline will be posted alongside Spring Stampede itself, so this has been the final episode that will be posted before the pay per view. So if you haven't yet, get in predictions now! I don't think there will be too many more, but as of now, this is the list of people who have predicted so far:

Not doing predictions this time around as I have won enough. (<_<)

But I am interested in the main event. I have no doubts that Steamboat and Windham won't turn their backs on Rhodes, but Jake Roberts being the same team does raise an eyebrow or two. I don't know about who I would pick as the victor if KoW were to take the W either. Savage has already had two shots, Hall is wrapped up in the feud with DDP, I don't know if Jarrett is over enough, and I expect Hogan to have a bigger bone to pick with Piper.

The show features a cold opening as a black and white view, as the four men of the Kings of Wrestling in tonight's main event are having a final pep talk meeting. Randy Savage screams “tonight's the night, yeah!” as he says that one of them will be getting a World title shot at World War 3, and the others will be there to back them up as the KoW take back what's theirs! Scott Hall makes a dig at Dallas Page, saying that he knows all about taking back things that was once his, laughing with Kim about it as she rests in his lap. Jeff Jarrett also adds that he isn't on this team for no reason, claiming that he's the most technically sound second generation star in the history of wrestling, and would make a great WCW World champion just like any of the rest of the KoW, ha ha! Savage shoves Jarrett, telling him to “get fired up, yeah dig it!” Roddy Piper tells Savage to run with that emotion, because they need it. He tells Jarrett to run with all the skills he can bring, because they'll need it. He tells Hall to bring everything he's got, because they'll need it. Piper says now that they've kicked Nick to the curb, Piper is the only founding member of the KoW left, so it's time for “President Piper” to send his men into battle and win this war once and for all! Woman smiles evilly as Harley nods, saying that we are looking at the winning team, and that the WCW team are just “too much individual, not enough collective” to ever completely win out over the Kings of Wrestling. Savage is screaming in the distance and yells “snap into it!” as the camera cuts out.

Notes: Randy was superb here, his performance fantastic. Roddy also came across well. Scott enjoyed not being scripted, and he performed well because of it.

We head into the arena now where Tony Schiavone and Jesse “The Body” Ventura greet us for Spring Stampede! They begin running down the card, starting with the huge eight man tag team main event. Jesse says that as much as he hates to say it, the Kings of Wrestling are looking at the next World title shot, while Tony thinks that Team WCW will pull together and work on letting Dustin Rhodes get a sanctioned match against Eric Bischoff. Jesse doesn't think that the WCW side can work together, but he hopes that they can, because that will effectively block the KoW's main players out of the title picture for a little while. They also discuss the street fight between Lex Luger and California Kip, Steve Austin against Arn Anderson, and the World Tag Team title match with Cactus Jack and Brian Pillman going against the Kings' Monsters. Tony then sends us to our backstage crew, Gene Okerlund and Mike Tenay. Gene says that he will have an interview later with Team WCW where they can respond to what the KoW said to start the show, and Mike says that he will be running the WCW Live forum on AOL while he isn't taking over for Jesse Ventura. Jesse says that he has a special interview he will be conducting later tonight that will require a lot of his attention, and tells fans not to change the channel because he left and Tenay is sitting in, as Jesse will be back by the main event. Tony then says that it's time to start the Stampede, so let's head down to Gary Michael Cappetta!

“All-American” Ron Simmons vs. “Mr. Wonderful” Paul Orndorff w/Harley Race

Time Limit: 30:00

Referee: Charles Robinson

Our opening contest sets the tone for the evening as a member of the Kings of Wrestling faces off with one of the stars of World Championship Wrestling! Ron dominates the early part of the match, his adrenaline pumping to put on a great showing and take Orndorff down a notch. “Mr. Wonderful” is a wily one though, and his veteran skills show as he manages to weather the storm by sliding out of the ring. Harley helps this strategy by harassing Simmons, causing him to try leaving the ring and thus restarting Charles's count. Paul finally enters the ring, and he takes over using Ron's impatience against him. Orndorff hits his boogie woogie elbow drop, but when Simmons throws him halfway across the ring after a two count, both Paul and Harley look terrified! “Mr. Wonderful” decides that it's more important to send a message than become one, and he motions to Harley. The former eight time World champion responds by handing Orndorff a chain from his pocket, and Paul goes ahead and blasts Ron with it right in front of Robinson! Charles calls for the bell, this match thrown out as Simmons is left down and out on the canvas. Jesse wonders if WCW being down while winning the bout may be an omen for the evening.

We go backstage to the WCW Live on AOL room, where Mike Tenay is talking to Bam Bam Bigelow for those who are signed in with them. Bigelow finishes up his interview, and leaves the area, as Ron Simmons can be seen being helped to the back. Tenay says that once Ron is done getting checked out by the trainers, he will be here to talk about his win tonight – then says, surprised, that he's getting told to go see what a commotion is. Mike leaves it to his internet team to go see what happened, and he comes upon…

Bigelow is down on the ground, with Bubba Rogers stomping him! A bent chair is lying nearby, and Colonel Parker is directing traffic as far as telling Rogers to keep hammering him! Mike calls for security, and within moments they swarm the scene, pulling Rogers away so that Bigelow can get some now needed medical attention.

WCW United States Heavyweight Championship

Lord Steven Regal © vs. Dave Finlay

Time Limit: 45:00

Referee: Mark Curtis

Tony started off calling this something that, given Lord Regal's involvement, should be a technical matchup. However, he never expected what we got from it, which is one of the stiffest, most brutal matches we have seen in a long time. Finlay rips into Regal with hard punches, and Steven returns in kind with some brutal looking European style uppercuts. The match falls around ringside as well, with each man destroying one another; Regal's nose even getting bloodied from being slammed into the ring steps with brutal force by Finlay. Finlay forces Regal into the ring and nearly gets the win following a rolling Samoan drop, but his Lordship only allows a two count before placing his foot on the ropes. Dave starts motioning that he's going to give Regal a piledriver, as Jesse wonders why he's bothering to play to the crowd now; calling it a huge mistake on his part to allow the champion a moment to catch his breath. Regal seems to be getting his nose checked out by Mark Curtis, which is why Tony says that Finlay is playing to the crowd for a minute, because Curtis holds Finlay back to look at it. However, it was all a plot…

http://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/wcw-95/tylers.jpg

…as this massive form, standing 6'8, steps over the top rope on the opposite side of the ring! He's wearing a finely pressed suit, and he grabs Finlay with two hands, lifting him easily off the ground before driving him to the mat with a ring shaking choke bomb! Regal quickly crawls over and makes the cover, Mark Curtis confused but bound by his duties to make the count; and with three slaps of the mat, this match is over in the most controversial fashion! Tony says that they hope to find out more about this tomorrow night on Nitro.

Terry Gordy vs. The Patriot

Time Limit: 10:00

Referee: Nick Patrick

As an added bonus match, Terry Gordy displays why he was such a long-standing United States champion in the past and is so feared by all. He drags The Patriot to the woodshed and doesn't look back, and despite a soft “USA” chant starting up, Gordy just runs roughshod over his opponent. He quickly puts this away using his Oriental Lock, forcing Patriot to call for submission in no time flat, as Tony Schiavone talks about how dominant Gordy was here tonight. Jesse excuses himself, saying that he has to go collect his notes for his interview later this evening, but before he leaves “The Body” warns WCW and the members of the KoW as well that they need to watch out for the wrath of Terry Gordy.

“Mean” Gene Okerlund is backstage and in a great mood, as he says to call the WCW Hotline at 1-900-909-9900 and choose option four to hear all the juiciest stories from what's going on behind this curtain tonight; kids, make sure to get your parents' permission before calling. Gene then reveals why he is in such a good mood, because he has the privilege of getting words with the men who are his guests at this time, the men representing World Championship Wrestling tonight, Ricky Steamboat, Jake Roberts, Dustin Rhodes, and Barry Windham! Terri carries the World's championship in on her shoulder for her husband, and Gene takes a moment to again marvel at how good the belt looks without that “disgusting” spraypaint on it. Whereas earlier, the Kings of Wrestling seemed determined and (as much as Randy Savage ever is) almost low key, here the four men are all smiles and high fives, obviously pumped for their opportunity tonight. Gene says that no matter what the KoW have said, it appears there is some great camaraderie going on here in this room! “The Snake” says that like all fearful men, they are quick to point fingers and use misdirection to confuse and confound the simple minded; but that when it comes down to it, there's no reason for any of the four to turn against one another. Roberts says that he isn't even here for the World title match, he simply wants to get his hands on who he calls “the fornicator, the adulteress, the heathen and jezebel who did all they could to break my best friend” speaking entirely of Scott Hall and Kimberly, who caused Diamond Dallas Page to leave WCW for an unspecified amount of time. “The Snake” says that those who do wrong to others must be given divine punishment, and the best punishment he can dole out is a lethal dose of the DDT!

Gene then turns his microphone toward “The Natural” and the World champion says that there is no rift between these four, because no guaranteed title shot can come between them. He turns to Ricky and says that with the respect between them, if he knows he could get a title match anytime; “The Dragon” says of course. Dustin turns to Roberts and asks if he knows that with Rhodes being who he is and the respect between Jake and his father, if he wanted a title shot, the names would be immediately on the dotted line, and Jake says of course. Dustin says that he's been a fighting champion ever since January when he won this belt, and that hasn't changed yet and will not change! He tells that tonight, it's not just about beating the KoW, it's about knocking them out of the title picture altogether! Barry Windham chimes in that he knows he could get a title shot too, and says that he's wanted his hands on Roddy Piper for a while now. Dustin agrees, saying that the next best thing to taking them out of the title picture will be if he picks up the win and then getting some sweet licks in on Eric Bischoff next month at World War 3! All the guys let out a loud cheer and start high fives, as Gene says that these are four very fired up men, and sends us back into the arena to Tony and Mike Tenay!

The Annihilator w/Sonny Onoo vs. Ultimo Dragon

Time Limit: 20:00

Referee: Charles Robinson

Tony and Mike spend practically all of this match talking about the main event, but it's a really good contest between these two mysterious, masked men. Ultimo's martial arts style kicks are utilized briefly, but a lot of them become nullified thanks to “the assassin” known as The Annihilator. Annihilator takes over following a distraction thanks to Sonny Onoo, and even Tenay has to take a moment to point out how well Sonny seems to gel with the man who is working as his hired gun here. Ultimo is at a serious size disadvantage here, and Annihilator uses that to throw his smaller built opponent around. Annihilator nearly gets a victory after a very well done spot where he catches the legs of Ultimo during Dragon's headstand on the top turnbuckle, then violently slams the former Cruiserweight champion's back flat onto the mat! Ultimo is barely able to reach the ropes to break up the pin. At the closing moments of the match, Onoo gets a little too close to the ringside area when the bout spills outside, and Ultimo unleashes his high flying Asai moonsault to take down both of his enemies at once! Ultimo shoves Annihilator back into the ring and cinches in a move Tenay says is a “la mahistral cradle” pin and is able to pick up a big victory!

WCW World Tag Team Championships

The Kings' Monsters © w/Woman vs. “Loose Cannon” Brian Pillman and Cactus Jack

Time Limit: 45:00

Referee: Randy “Pee Wee” Anderson

Tony Schiavone says right out front that this match will not be a pretty one, and it begins before the opening bell as Cactus and Brian attack during Vader and Giant's entrance! The match begins in the aisle, and Tenay talks about how, as unfair an advantage that is by attacking from behind, but in this case, he can condone it as the much smaller opponents need any edge they can try to get! Tony adds that goes especially when they are against any member of the Kings of Wrestling, as Cactus and Brian double team whip Giant into the ringpost! They send Vader into the guardrail, before pushing him into the ring as the bell finally rings to start the match. Pillman begins, taking full advantage of Vader's grogginess by hitting a dropkick to the face of a kneeling “Monster” before hitting the ropes and nailing a rushing kneelift. He tags in Cactus, who uses his hammering right hands to Vader, hard enough that a good shot knocks the mask right off of his face! Jack delivers a running knee in the corner and goes for a cover, but only a short two count before Vader kicks out. Jack and Pillman keep switching in and out, as Woman screams from the outside, Tony wondering if she's afraid these two have figured out the way to get the win over the Monsters by dividing the behemoths. However, Vader is not known for being a pushover, and he catches Brian coming off the top rope and squashes him on the mat with a splash! Vader is too winded at the moment to make a cover or a tag, so instead he just causes more destruction. He heaves “The Loose Cannon” into the turnbuckle and unleashes some of his aggressions in the form of rights and lefts as he dominates Brian with punches to the ribs, chest, and head before Randy Anderson finally gets him to back off under threat of disqualification.

Finally, the biggest fear of the match is realized as Vader tags in The Giant. Giant saunters over toward a weakened Pillman, looking down at his much smaller opponent with disdain on his face. Tony talks about how no man has even knocked The Giant off his feet yet in WCW, and he's been here for almost an entire year! Brian tries to throw a punch, but it's grabbed in mid-punch – and Giant delivers a harsh overhead chop to the chest which echoes all around the building! A mighty roar escapes the over seven foot monster as he charges Pillman, and he squashes him in the corner! Woman is now very pleased as we see her on the outside smiling broadly, and Giant lifts Pillman into a gorilla press! Tony and Mike are in awe as “the proud pap of Pillmania” scrambles to escape the situation, finally breaking Giant's grip and landing on his shoulders. He punches away at the head of The Giant, who staggers around, but he purposely drops to his back for the tallest electric chair drop in wrestling history! Giant crawls over for the cover, and possibly would have gotten the three if Cactus didn't rush in and break it up! Giant reaches up and grabs Jack around the throat from a kneeling position, and when Pillman starts getting to his feet he grabs him as well! Giant screams, until the two men simultaneously kick him in the stomach. They break the grip, and run to the ropes, but the double clothesline that happens is Giant taking both of them down! The Giant then eases into the ropes, and he steps on both men as he heads to the other side of the ring. Tony talks about how brutalizing this man is, and says how he is within his rookie year and he's throwing around these ten year pros like they're table scraps! Pillman gets to his feet among the huge cheers of the crowd, as Cactus also makes his way to his feet, and the crowd get a buzz among themselves, willing their favorites on to attack and take down The Giant! They attack, and with all the crowd cheering them on with each punch, they knock Giant to the ropes! You can feel the Pillmania running through the air as Cactus whips Giant across the ring, and Brian comes springboarding off the top with a dropkick – but still not enough to take him down to the mat! Woman screams, as Brian jumps off the turnbuckles and grabs Giant around the head, looking for the Loaded Gun DDT. Giant pushes him off though, and you can almost hear the wind taken out of the crowd when Vader destroys Brian with a running clothesline! Tenay says that Brian just got turned inside out with that clothesline, but he's right back up! “The Pillmania is running through his veins!” screams Tony, as Vader gets assaulted by Pillman's right hands! Brian motions for it… and he lifts Vader for a big body slam! The ring shook on that one! Cactus is taking it to Giant, who is showing wear as he leans against the ropes. Jack charges, going for a Cactus clothesline. Will that take Giant down, asks Tenay? No – as Giant counters by grabbing Cactus around the throat and drilling him to the mat with the chokeslam! Vader holds onto the legs of Brian, as Giant moves into the cover and gets the three count in the most incredible brawling tag team championship match we've seen in years!

Brian helps Jack to his feet and out of the ring, saying a few “choice words” on camera that Tony apologizes for, saying that it can be hard to lose a match that you had such control in. Tenay says that nobody has figured out the formula for defeating the Monsters yet, even attacking them before the match and brawling with them hasn't done it.

But maybe there is a team who can match them!

The Road Warriors charge down the aisle and climb into the ring! The crowd roar in approval as Hawk and Animal size up their bigger foes. The Giant roars in their face, and the fight is on! Vader and Giant throw punches, as do Hawk and Animal, but the Warriors gain ground first! Before long, Vader is sent to the mat with a hip toss, and he slides to the outside as “The Masters of Mayhem” deliver a double clothesline that sends Giant over the top rope to the floor! He lands on his feet, and Woman starts desperately pleading with him to leave. Tony is in awe, and Mike says that with this show of force, there's no way the Road Warriors won't be coming for the World Tag Team titles soon – and this may just be the match the Monsters can't overpower!

Winners in 12:02 and still World Tag Team champions: The Kings' Monsters

Notes: In the post-match brawl, the performance of Giant was good. Vader also looked good, but Hawk performed poorly, and Animal seemed to underwhelm.

Steve Austin vs. “The Enforcer” Arn Anderson w/Bobby Heenan

Time Limit: 30:00

Referee: Nick Patrick

Mike Tenay calls this bout “a war of attrition” as even though this isn't the street fight, these two come to the ring wearing street clothes and start brawling immediately! There is no advantage to be had, as security end up having to break them up in order to let the opponents enter the ring and start the match for real. Austin strips off his vest, but Anderson notices the brief moment when he is handing it to the outside of the ring and attacks! “The Enforcer” takes over after clubbing Steve in the back with forearms, before sending him to the ropes. Austin ducks a clothesline, jumps over Arn's back, but Anderson ducks his head a split second too soon for the back body drop and Austin grabs him and drives Anderson's face into the mat! Arn's back legs go comically stiff until Austin grabs the back of his head and drives him face first into the canvas a few more times as the crowd cheer him on! Anderson rolls out of the ring to shake loose the cobwebs and slow things down, with “The Brain” coming over to fan Anderson with a towel. “The Enforcer” takes all of the count that he can before sliding back into the ring, keeping a sharp eye on Austin every second. This time it's a standard lock up between the two, which “Double A” wins by digging in and pushing Austin back toward the ropes. But at the last second, Austin turns it around and sends Arn back out to the floor, who gets back to his feet and slams his hands on the ring apron in frustration! Tony chuckles as the camera gets a good look at what he calls “Austin's ice cold smile” as he urges Anderson to climb back into the ring.

As Anderson re-enters, the lock up that ensues only lasts until the wily veteran knees Austin in the stomach. From there he grabs Austin by the arm and hits a single arm DDT! An armbar is cinched in, and Tenay says that this is looking like standard “Anderson family” fare now as he begins working over the left arm. He drives his knee into Austin's bicep, Heenan screaming from the outside to “rip his muscle right off the bone!” but he starts telling the crowd to shut up as they begin chanting “weasel” at him. Tony begins discussing the strategy here, as this could very easily separate Austin's shoulder, which could take away the majority of his arsenal as he can't do any of his favorite moves without feeling pain. Anderson lifts Steve off the mat and sets him up, hitting an arm-held body slam to put Austin back on the mat right on top of his own arm. “The Enforcer” goes for a cover, but Austin gets a shoulder up at two. Again, Tony points out that Austin had to use that now weakened shoulder in order to kick out, which must have caused intense shooting pain.

Austin tries to kick his way out of danger, kicking Anderson away so he can try to get back to his feet, but as the Texas redneck starts standing up, Anderson notices his arm stiffening up to lift himself up and he rushes, kicking right at the joint of the elbow! Austin drops to the mat in pain, holding his left arm now, and Arn goes for another cover. It's only another two count, but Anderson is unfazed. He attacks the arm again, but this time Austin pulls away. When Arn goes in, he leans a little too far forward and Austin grabs a small package – but only a quick two count! Anderson is shaken for a moment, as Austin starts working to his feet. He throws a few right hands, but Anderson grabs Austin by the left wrist and yanks on the worn arm before hammering him with the famous Anderson left hand! Steve is dazed on the mat, but kicks out at a long two count, as Mike wonders how much longer Austin can take this. “Double A” looks about ready to finish this one off, as he climbs up the ropes. Anderson comes off looking for a double axe handle – but Austin puts his feet up and kicks him right in the face! Austin now has a moment to catch his breath, but Anderson is almost right back on him, breathing down his neck. Austin hits the ropes, he ducks a clothesline and looks for his Lou Thesz press – SPINEBUSTER! Austin had no way of getting out of the way once his feet left the ground, and Arn even seems a little surprised as Heenan yells to cover him! Anderson makes the cover!

………………………...No!

Austin just gets his shoulder up, and the look on Bobby's face is of shock! Arn looks just as surprised, and he lifts Austin off the mat. He sets him up for a DDT, but Austin shoves Anderson back-first into the turnbuckles. He shoves his shoulder into Arn's midsection until the point that Arn breaks the hold, and the two stagger out of the corner, both men on rubber legs – Austin capitalizes with the Stunner! Anderson flops on the mat, as Austin rolls over and hooks the leg!

The match is over, completely out of nowhere! The crowd cheer loudly as Austin's hand is raised, wincing as he makes sure Nick Patrick raises his right arm instead of his left. Heenan tries to get Arn conscious again, trying to urge him out of the ring.

http://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/wcw-95/ricflair.jpg

With a loud “Woooooo!” from the crowd, we see “The Nature Boy” Ric Flair jogging down to the ringside area. He is dressed in his fine suit, having only shown up tonight to watch this match apparently. Flair and Heenan work together to pull Anderson away, but Austin taps Flair on the shoulder. When Flair turns around, Austin puts two middle fingers right in his face! Ric gets to his feet, animatedly stomping around in anger, as fans start cheering for the two to fight!

However, Flair smiles, letting out a long “Wooo” and ducking out of the ring, sarcastically applauding Austin for his win before helping his stablemate head back to the dressing room. Austin gets on the turnbuckles to celebrate for his cheering crowd as Tenay talks about how once Austin has gotten past “The Enforcer” one must believe that his next big match will definitely be “The Nature Boy” in the near future!

King Puma and The Flying Spyder vs. The Willow and Surge w/Dr. Karnage

Time Limit: 20:00

Referee: Mark Curtis

This match is very emotionally charged, moreso than it's cartoony appearance would let you believe. The fans (well, the kids) still try to cheer on Surge, but it's obvious that he's not working under his own power in this, as Dr. Karnage stays on the outside constantly working his remote control (which looks like an Atari 2600 controller with the cord cut off of it) anytime Surge is near the ring. Willow does a lot of the heavy lifting of this match, as he uses some high flying offense to keep the Flying Spyder on his toes. Tenay is almost frothing at the mouth as he says he would love to see these two in a singles match where they can really show off their high flying arsenal. King Puma dominates the match, swatting Willow away anytime he tries anything. The real turnaround of the match is when Puma uses his super speed to chase Dr. Karnage around the ring – and he meets Karnage right back where Puma was standing to begin with! (Nelson stood still while Mitchell ran around the ring like an idiot until he ran back into him again, because immobility.) Puma grabs the remote and smashes it! Surge shakes his head rapidly, and Tony says that this should certainly change the match! But what actually happens is another man appears outside the ring, standing alongside Nurse Ana R. Key, and King Puma starts heading toward him at normal speed to tell him to leave. In the ring, the Spyder seems ready to take out Willow, and Surge gets on that side of the ring to cheer him on… but pushes Spyder off the top rope! The Flying Spyder crashes onto the mat, as Surge enters the ring and hits him with a running, spinning neckbreaker! Willow goes to the top rope and nails him with a flipping senton, and Mark Curtis has no choice but to make the three count amongst the maniacal laughter of Dr. Karnage. The doctor enters the ring, and he holds up the arms of his men, as Tenay says that we have just seen a vicious new alliance formed.

It's finally time for “The Body's” big surprise, as Jesse Ventura comes out to the aisle. He says that while “Gene-O” is asking the softball questions to his buddies backstage, “The Body” is out here asking the questions that the people really want to know from the people they really want to know them from! He brings in his guest, saying that he used to be a huge fan of this man, and while he doesn't agree with his current career choices, you can't argue with a man who has had numerous World title shots and is a main leader in one of the most devastating factions ever witnessed in pro wrestling history! “Alongside the wicked Woman, here is the legendary 'Macho Man' Randy Savage!”

http://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/wcw-95/randysavage.jpghttp://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/wcw-95/woman.jpg

Randy explodes onto the scene as only he tends to do, as Woman slinks into view behind him. Jesse welcomes them to the interview, as “Macho Man” says that Jesse made one little mistake during his introduction, correcting him that the Kings of Wrestling is the greatest group in the entire history of all wrestling, even back when Abe Lincoln slammed George Washington into the Mississippi River! Jesse gives a quick mention about the Four Horsemen as Randy points out that “it wasn't ever taped on television but it happened, dig it!” Savage gives him an angry glare at the mention of the Horsemen, but Woman keeps him reserved by telling him to save his energy for the match. Jesse moves onto his question, saying that it's been a little over a month since this happened, but he says that since she has still been accompanying Dustin Rhodes to ringside, it is still a viable question; what happened when Randy Savage and the KoW abducted Terri? Savage laughs his raspy cackle, saying that Terri was shown the time of her life, yeah, and now that she's gone back to “White Bread Dustin” she's probably jonesing for more of “The Macho Man” yeah! Jesse asks if Savage really thinks Terri could run to the KoW, and Savage says that “black and white is the only way, yeah,” and points out that she only cost him the match at Uncensored out of jealousy! Tony Schiavone points out that Dustin must not be able to hear this interview right now or else he'd be out here looking for blood. However, someone does come upon the scene…

http://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/wcw-95/pillmania.jpg

Out of the dark comes “the Loose Cannon” Brian Pillman! The battered and bruised leader of the Pillmania trend interrupts, saying that as a self-imposed “good man” he simply cannot allow this slander to continue on! He says that there is no way Randy did any amount of showing Terri a good time, because Savage is too damn wrapped up around other little fingers to ever do such a thing! He says that this is all mind games, trying to make Dustin lose his edge, but he says “newsflash, Macho; it didn't work when you had his wife abducted, it won't work just because you talk about things that didn't happen!” Savage threatens to shut Pillman's mouth for him if he doesn't shut it right now! Brian says that he will have more to say on this matter in the future, because if nobody else has been able to do it, then he won't be able to sleep at night until he finds out how to make Savage pay for his crimes against womankind and humanity, when Pillmania runs wild on him! Pillman leaves without incident, but Savage is left fuming! Jesse says that he is closing this interview before anything else happens, as Savage screams and leaves in a huff! Woman gives Jesse a sideways glare, before following her charge. Tony asks the question, we have seen these two men go to war with one another before, what could they possibly do to one another if they've decided to do so again?

Notes: The performance of Savage was seen as very good, while Pillman performed well without a script to stay on.

Street Fight

California Kip w/Woman vs. “The Total Package” Lex Luger

Time Limit: 45:00

Referee: Randy “Pee Wee” Anderson

This match begins with a pose down, as fans cheer and boo for Luger and Kip, respectively. Jesse comes back to send Tenay back to WCW Live again, Tony ignoring Ventura completely when he asks if Schiavone missed him or not; “Aw, now you've hurt my feelings, Schiavone.” Ventura points out that only Woman came out at the start of this match despite both men saying that they would have backup for the street fight, but those questions are quickly answered…

http://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/wcw-95/brianadams.jpghttp://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/wcw-95/barrydarsow.jpghttp://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/wcw-95/ricksteiner.jpghttp://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/wcw-95/scottsteiner.jpg

… when our camera heads backstage to see the Steiners in a street fight of their own against the Chain Gang! Security rush in, and we hear the voice of Doug Dillinger telling everyone to throw all four of them out!

“What sort of impact will that have on this match?” is Tony's question, as there are still a lot of Kings of Wrestling members back there but now no Rick or Scott Steiner to keep an eye out for Luger! Kip takes over with a rake of the eyes, and this match devolves into an ugly brawl as he does all he can to weaken “The Total Package”. Tony and Jesse discuss the two previous matches these two have had against one another, where California Kip gained two cheap victories, one by count out and another by disqualification, which led to the rules being removed for this bout. Kip leans on Luger in a side headlock, but the power of Lex is too much for him as he shoves Kip so hard that he flies between the ropes and to the floor! Woman screams, rushing over, but backing away once Luger leaves the ring as well. Lex completely takes over on the outside, whipping Kip into the turnbuckle post so hard that Kip soars through the air, staggers on weak legs, and then falls face first to the thin blue mats surrounding the ring! The crowd are chanting “Let's go, Package!” and clapping in unison, as Luger fires Kip back into the ring. He takes a moment to admonish Woman, who had slipped around that side of the ring, and that gives Kip enough time to hit a baseball slide that sends Lex careening into the guardrail! Kip goes to the mats now, and he starts pulling them apart in order to expose the cold, hard concrete beneath them. He looks as though he wants to slam Lex on them, but he can't quite work it out fast enough as Luger slips out, bends Kip over, and delivers a piledriver on the floor! Kip is done at this point, as it takes all of Luger's considerable strength to lift him up and put him on the ring apron. He sends him into the ring and slides in to cover, when the lights go out…

http://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/wcw-95/fakesting.jpg

… it's Sting! Or is it?! The answer is apparent once he slams the baseball bat into Luger's kidneys! “Sting” stomps on Luger, holding the bat into Lex's throat and choking him with it, as there's nothing Randy Anderson can do about it! Kip finally comes to, and he helps “Sting” with the beating. They collaborate a plan, as Kip holds Luger for “Sting” to tee off on him with the bat. He jabs Lex twice in the ribs, before backing away to get a good swing.

But no! “The Total Package” slips out of the grip, and “Sting” nails Kip instead! Luger gets the bat, and he slams it into the midsection and then the back of “Sting” before hitting Kip in the side of the ribs as well! He throws the bat to Randy Anderson, before lifting Kip up into the Human Torture Rack! Luger applies pressure, and it's within twenty seconds that Kip gives it up! Luger has won it!

Winner in 9:36: Lex Luger

Notes: In the brawl with Barry and Brian, the Steiners both looked very crisp.

We then go to a video, where we are given a recap of the last nearly two years in the career of “Hollywood” Hulk Hogan. It details him debuting to a ticker-tape parade before joining up in the Kings of Wrestling with Roddy Piper. It shows him defending the title against all comers (albeit with huge amounts of cheating and many KoW run-ins to retain a lot of the time) as the shadow of him playing the defaced World title as air guitar.

After the video package seems over, we then get to see Hogan himself, wearing black and red as he hangs out at his family home with his young daughter. Hulk says that he's been out of WCW for a few months now, and he hopes that they haven't missed him too much. He says that he's been away filming some “instant classic” movies, so he urges fans to look kindly on his departure later this year when they go to the theaters to watch him in Secret Agent Club, Santa with Muscles, and Spy Hard along with his good buddy Leslie Nielson! He says that he's feeling a lot better and is a lot less stressed out now that he isn't weekly defending the World title, but he's “got the itch, brother” so once his television and touring schedules clear up, he'll be back on Monday Nitro to show everyone just where the power lies!

After that, we go to Tony Schiavone and Jesse Ventura, who talk about what we just heard. Tony says that it's nice to get an update on the condition of Hogan after the brutal attack that he suffered back at Starrcade. Jesse openly complains that “Just as usual, Schiavone, the more Hogan talked, the less he said. He should run for office or something as much as he dodges important questions, no wonder he never wanted to be on my Body Shop!” Tony then changes our gears, saying that regardless of what is going on in Tampa, we are still in Phoenix, and it is time for our main event. He goes over the rules of the match, saying that this will give us our defined match for World War 3. The winner of the match will become number one contender for the World's title, unless Dustin Rhodes gets the victory in which case he will get his hands on Eric Bischoff. Jesse says that any of the men in the match would make a great challenger, but he thinks that one of the KoW should have a plan to pick up the win. Tony says that he just hopes that Rhodes gets the victory here, because it's about time that someone puts Bischoff in his place. We head to Gary Cappetta to start the introductions, as we head to the ring for our featured main event!

Notes: Tony enjoyed the freedom to be off-script, performing well. [Editor's note: in looking up Hogan's movie roles in 1996, I learned that Mila Kunis played one of the kids in Santa with Muscles. Wow. And yes, despite WCW putting over Hogan's appearance, he totally was just in a video. Bait and switch!]

Dustin Rhodes, Ricky Steamboat, Barry Windham, and Jake Roberts w/Terri Rhodes vs. Roddy Piper, Randy Savage, Jeff Jarrett, and Scott Hall w/Harley Race, Woman, and Kimberly Page

Time Limit: 60:00

Referee: Tommy Young

After all the introductions are over, it's time for the match. All eight men eye one another up as Tony wonders if the ring will be big enough for them (Jesse: “Nope.”) as we have debates on who will start the contest. Dustin Rhodes starts out for one side, Jeff Jarrett on the other. Savage is all slaps on the back for Jeff, pumping up the young member of the group as he and Dustin circle around the ring. The lock up goes to Rhodes, much larger than Jarrett, who puts his opponent into the ropes before Tommy Young breaks things up. At a second lock up Jeff does what he does best by thumbing Dustin in the eye, but “The Natural” ends up sending Jarrett toward Dustin's corner, where all of his partners pinball Jarrett back and forth with punches! Dustin tags out to Steamboat, who comes in hitting Jarrett with chops to the chest. Steamboat tags out to Windham, who pounds Jarrett with “big, Texas sized right hands” according to Tony. Windham tags out to Roberts, who hits Jeff with boxing style jabs, before going for a quick DDT – but Jarrett slips away and slides out of the ring, walking around the ringside area to his own corner. When Jarrett gets back into the ring, he tags in Scott Hall, who meets up to Ricky Steamboat in the center of the ring. Hall wiggles his fingers to mock being afraid, before throwing his toothpick in Steamboat's face. They go in for a lock up, but rather than do that Hall waits until the last moment before slapping Steamboat in the face! “The Dragon” is miffed at all the disrespect, but keeps his cool. Hall offers a test of strength, but Steamboat gets the better of that by rolling to his back and flipping Hall with a surprisingly monkey flip while holding onto the hands of Scott! Ricky flips backwards and gets into the mounted position above Hall, and he gets a receipt by slapping him in the face! Steamboat backs away at the behest of Tommy, as Hall rubs his jaw. Ricky points back toward his corner, and he tags in Jake! The crowd cheers as they definitely want to see Roberts get his hands on Hall, but after a brief taunt, Hall turns around and tags in Savage. Jake and Randy get into it, Jesse pointing out that these two know one another very well, and the match begins to turn violent now that the “unhinged” Savage is in there. He begins tearing at Roberts's hair and face, but Jake can play dirty too and he comes right back with punches and biting Savage's forehead! Roberts tags in Windham, who comes in and easily hefts Savage into a big body slam! Barry misses a quick elbow drop, and Savage takes over with one of his own. Barry is dragged towards the KoW side of the ring, but he kicks Savage away and gets into a neutral corner. “The Macho Man” feigns a lock up with Windham in order to use some jabs, putting Windham into the turnbuckle as Harley gets close to that corner from the outside. Tommy chastises Race so that he backs away, as Savage locks in a side headlock. Barry lifts Savage into an attempted belly to back suplex, but Randy kicks his legs to get back into control. A second lift and he connects with the suplex, breaking the hold. Barry climbs to his feet, but Savage hits him with an axehandle to put him on the mat. Randy shoves Windham into the KoW corner now, and he starts choking him over the top rope. Tommy makes him break that up, but while he admonishes Savage, that's when Piper, Jarrett, and Hall start laying a beating on Windham from the outside! Randy goes back on the attack, grabbing Barry by the hair to measure his punches with pinpoint accuracy. The Kings swap in and out on Windham, until finally Roddy Piper gets the tag. He comes in with full swagger, and cockily kicks at Barry, who Tony notes has been chasing another match with Piper for months now. Roddy chokes Windham repeatedly, breaking each time Tommy administers a count on him. Piper starts slapping away at Windham, but it only wakes the giant from his slumber as Barry gets up and starts chasing Piper across the ring! Roddy gets through the ropes, causing Tommy to have to keep Windham away from him, and Piper sneaks a tag out to Hall. Windham is able to trade out, as he tags in Dustin. Tony puts over the occasional team known as the Texas Blackjacks as having held gold together in the past, and two men who look up to one another, as close as brothers. Jesse wonders if that almost-blood will be thicker than gold once the match goes a little longer. Rhodes and Hall trade maneuvers, as the pace of the match quickens somewhat. Dustin starts making headway with a flurry of punches, but when he runs the ropes, Jarrett pulls down the top rope and the champion sails over the top clear to the floor! Steamboat and Windham rush to that side of the ring in order to counteract any illegal actions from the KoW, but for the most part, the damage has been done.

When Dustin is back in the ring, he is immediately taken to task by the KoW, as all four members come in and get in their shots. They successfully cut the ring off, never allowing the World champion to get anywhere near his own corner. Jarrett hits a running guillotine while Rhodes is hanging over the middle rope, and while Tommy Young yells at him (as Jeff struts away) Woman reaches up and slaps Rhodes across the face! Jarrett then chokes Dustin over the middle rope, and when Tommy yells at him for that, Savage then does it from the outside! Steamboat comes in to try and tell Young what's going on, but that proves even worse for it as Race punches Rhodes in the face! Piper comes in, and he continues the abuse with a series of punches in the corner. Roddy drives a knee into Dustin's nose on the mat, but the champion kicks out at two. Ventura questions Dustin even being in the ring for this match, saying he should have just let his three teammates do all the heavy work of this match, because all the punishment he's taking right now could shorten his title reign significantly. Tony says that letting others do the work for him just isn't the Rhodes way, to which Jesse says that “the Rhodes way” is just a fancy way of saying too dumb to quit. Hall comes in, and despite a brief attempt at a comeback by Dustin, it ends up with him crashing to the mat from a fallaway slam. Scott scores a close two count as well off of that. Instead of continuing with slams or strikes, Scott instead employs an abdominal stretch; making sure to stay near the KoW corner so that he can get some extra leverage thanks to his partners. “Tag team wrestling 101” Jesse calls it, but Tony says it's just cheating. Terri, Ricky, and Jake start making noise, getting the crowd to start coming alive for Dustin, which Tony says is the way he's kept the belt this long against such adversity that the KoW have thrown at him. Tommy finally looks the right direction, and he sees Hall's locked hand with Jarrett! He kicks the two apart, and in the confusion Dustin hits a big hip toss to send Hall to the mat! Scott climbs back to his feet – and right into a dropkick! Rhodes tries to get back into this, hitting a body slam on Hall. When Hall gets back to his feet, he gets taken right back down with a Dusty inspired bionic elbow right between the eyes! Tony and Jesse are both calling for Dustin to make the tag, but he runs the ropes in order to hit Hall with a flying shoulderblock! He turns around – right into a double axehandle from Randy Savage! Hall had tagged out behind Dustin's back! Savage goes for a pin! 1!

………………….2!

……………………...No!

A dazed Dustin gets the shoulder up just as the hand was coming down! Savage goes crazy on Rhodes, stomping and clawing at his face before getting into the mounted position and driving fierce punches down upon Dustin's forehead. As Windham starts to enter the ring, Tommy turns his back for a split second, and Savage uses that time to send Rhodes over the top rope to the floor!

http://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/wcw-95/ericbischoff.jpg

Tony groans as the Executive Vice President of WCW and the authority of the KoW comes down to ringside now. As the other members of the KoW keep the other contenders of the match at bay, Harley and Woman lay an attack in on Dustin on the outside. Even Kim slaps Rhodes across the face, then complains about almost breaking a fingernail. Race then holds Dustin wide open, and Eric delivers a swift martial arts kick to the ribs of Rhodes! Tony mentions Eric's martial arts background, saying that despite how much most can't stand Bischoff and want to see his get his comeuppance, you cannot take away that he is not defenseless. Dustin is shoved back into the ring, and Bischoff sticks around ringside now. Jarrett takes over on Rhodes, hitting him with a drop toe hold and locking in a side headlock on the mat. Jeff swaps out to Hall, as Ventura reiterates that Dustin should have stayed on the outside – pointing out that it's exactly what Piper is doing. Tony laughs off “President Piper” as he dubbed himself earlier tonight, saying that Piper has always been the manipulative brains in the background of the KoW while others did the dirty work. Hall catches a charging Rhodes with a one armed chokeslam, which scores a two count on the champion. Scott then places Dustin on the top rope, clubbing him on the back with a sharp forearm. When Tommy tells him not to do so, the KoW again attack Dustin, punching him while he is helpless against the three-on-one assault! Hall climbs up behind him, but Rhodes fights back – hitting elbows to Hall's stomach to daze him. He drives a hard fist right to Hall's forehead, which causes “The Outsider” to stumble back into the ring. Dustin gets off of the turnbuckle, and he starts getting swarmed again. But he fights out! He throws hard lefts and rights at his attackers, and gives one to Hall when he gets involved! The distracting presence of Bischoff rears itself again, but this time, someone's there to help!

http://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/wcw-95/magnumta.jpg

The WCW Commissioner grabs Eric as the crowd cheers wildly! He twists his ear and starts pulling him away, back to the dressing room! The cheers of the crowd spur on Dustin Rhodes, as each of his partners are leaning way over the ropes to try and get him to tag them in! He doesn't seem to know which hand he swings for, but he finally makes the tag as his hand slaps with Jake “The Snake” Roberts!

Roberts enters the ring, a house of fire as he points straight to Scott Hall! He punches Jarrett when he rushes in, and ducks under a clothesline from Savage, who runs right into Steamboat as those two begin throwing punches and chops! Jake connects with punches to Hall, who fires back with some of his own. Hall spins around to get some momentum for one final blow, but Roberts catches it and hits him with a short-arm clothesline! This match has lost all semblance of control as Kimberly climbs onto the ring apron. Jake wags his finger at her, before grabbing her by the hair and looking like he's going to slap her for her transgressions! Hall comes back in, and he breaks this up with a forearm to Roberts. Rhodes and Windham are working over Jarrett, bouncing him with punches before Dustin drills him with a bionic elbow. In the chaos, Jake is setting Hall up for the DDT – but Piper hits him from behind with a steel pipe! Hall begins to set Jake up for the Outsider's Edge, holding his arms up to tell everyone what's coming. He leans down to try and lift “The Snake” from the mat, when…….

BANG

http://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/wcw-95/ddp.jpg

Hall gets drilled with the Diamond Cutter, and the crowd are on their feet for Diamond Dallas Page! Roberts climbs on top as Page leaves the ring, dragging his estranged wife along with him! Tommy Young notices the pinfall, and he starts the count!

1!

………………….2!

……………………….NO!

Jarrett breaks up the count at the very last split second, and Hall is rolled out of the ring. Roberts gets to his feet, and Jeff kicks him in the stomach. Jarrett sends him to the ropes, but he ducks his head – DDT! “The Snake” hit the DDT! Savage tackles him away, but Tommy calls out a tag that's made just as Jake is sent out of the ring. Jarrett is out on the mat, and from the top rope with a diving fist drop – Dustin Rhodes makes the cover!

1!

……………………….2!

………………………………..3!

It's over! This one is all over, Roddy Piper was just too late to break it up! However, he quickly recovers from the shock and blasts Dustin with the steel pipe!

As Eric Bischoff makes his way out of the back again, rustling his hair and jacket back into position, the attack commences in the ring. Piper slams the steel pipe into the forehead of Roberts, the ribs of Steamboat, and Savage sends Windham face first into the ringpost.

“That's enough of this goody-two-shoes, heart of a champion crap!” Eric Bischoff bellows over the microphone. Scott Hall starts coming to, and he sends Roberts over the guardrail with the help of Savage. Piper tells Eric that now is the time, as he takes the steel pipe and wraps it around the throat of Rhodes, holding him in the ring. As he holds onto the champion, Vader and The Giant emerge, and the group drag Steamboat and Windham to the top of the aisle. Eric stands between them, and he addresses Dustin and the audience. He talks about how there will be no title match between Dustin and himself. He says that the rules state he cannot simply make a match between Rhodes and someone, because it has to be approved by the championship committee. However, if for some reason Rhodes decides to agree to a match, then it bypasses the committee.

Eric then says that if Dustin does not agree, right here on the spot, to put the World title on the line, they are going to break his friends! Dustin tries to fight, and Eric says that apparently, he needs a little incentive. He calls out to Giant – who is (comically) wearing the cowboy hat of Magnum TA, which Tony says must mean that they did something to our commissioner backstage – and Giant starts standing on the midsection of Steamboat! The agony of “The Dragon” can be heard all around the arena in his screams, but when Dustin does not seem to respond, they lift him up, and Giant chokeslams him on the hard concrete of the floor! Vader then drops on him with a vicious splash! Steamboat is screaming in intense pain, and Jesse points out that he thinks he sees blood coming from the mouth of Steamboat. Eric tells Dustin that this all ends when he says yes; telling Rhodes that he isn't a doctor, but he's seen broken ribs before, and that's how Ricky looks right now! Bischoff then asks if Dustin remembers when Barry Windham broke his hand a few years ago; saying that he wonders if Barry would just have to leave wrestling if an even worse thing happened to both of his limbs! “YES” we hear, finally; Dustin Rhodes has finally agreed, seeming to have been overcome with emotion after what happened to his mentor and friend, and the threat of what could happen to the man who is like his big brother!

The face of Eric Bischoff is beaming from ear to ear with a broad smile, as he says “Ladies and gentlemen, we have a bonus match for you all to enjoy!” Piper lets Rhodes loose and leaves the ring, laughing. Eric says that for our new final match of the evening, it will be for the WCW World Heavyweight championship! He says that a match this huge needs a special referee, and as the executive vice president of World Championship Wrestling, there's no one better for such a huge match than……. “ME!” He jokes that it doesn't sound like the spokesman for the championship committee has any complaints with that, as he saunters down to the ring. He says that it looks like all we need is a contender; and he says that he is proud to introduce the newest member of the Kings of Wrestling!

WCW World Heavyweight Championship

“The Natural” Dustin Rhodes w/Terri © vs. Sting

Time Limit: None Announced

Special Guest Referee: Eric Bischoff

Dustin is just barely on his feet, as Eric calls for the bell. Tony is completely confused, as Sting stands in the center of the ring. He wears his long black trenchcoat and keeps it clasped together, so commentary and the audience are completely baffled as to whether this is the real Sting or not; the only thing different about him seems to be the white “KoW” letters on the back of his jacket. The man certainly moves like Sting, swooping in upon Rhodes with a fierce fury of chops, punches, and kicks, to the point that Tony completely begins to wonder if Sting, franchise of WCW, hero of the “Little Stingers” everywhere, has finally turned his back on everyone. Sting shoves Rhodes into the corner and delivers a volley of punches and kicks, all of the punches being closed fists that Bischoff completely ignores. He whips Rhodes to the other side of the ring, and he snaps off a Stinger splash! He goes for the cover as the crowd boos loudly. Bischoff drops for the count; 1-2-no! Dustin just barely kicks out of one of the fastest counts ever recorded!

Rhodes fires off a few punches to Sting's midsection as he stands up, but they barely phase Sting. Sting fires back with a kick right to the face, and another fast two count results. Rhodes is completely dazed, but he keeps kicking out, and he keeps fighting back! He reverses a whip, and comes back with a leaping clothesline! Dustin quickly crawls into a cover! Bischoff drops to count!

…………………………………………………………………………………………..1!

The easiest kickout ever as there was no way that was going to go to a three. Dustin does all he can to stay on the offensive, hitting Sting with a collection of overhand swings that connect all over his back! However…

http://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/wcw-95/stings.jpghttp://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/wcw-95/stings.jpg

Two more Stings, decked out in the same KoW coat as the one in the match, enter the ring. Eric completely ignores this as well, turning around to check on the way the turnbuckle pad is tied. One of the Stings bends Rhodes backward and drops him with a reverse DDT! He makes the cover, and Eric, in his glee, doesn't even make a fast count.

1!

…………………..2!

…………………………….NO! Dustin kicks out! Dustin kicked out!

The three men commit a three-on-one assault on Rhodes, but he ducks out of a clothesline and one of them takes out the other! Another one he flips out of the ring, and we assume he's back down to the one who came to the ring at first. Dustin hits the ropes, duck a clothesline, and he comes back with the running bulldog! Sting is down! Rhodes goes for the cover!

Eric drops down as if to count, but he doesn't even have to.

http://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/wcw-95/giant.jpg

The Giant enters the ring, grabbing Dustin and pulling him off of Sting with one hand. He grabs the champion around the throat, and starts shaking him around violently, looking for the chokeslam. He roars in the face of the champion – who kicks Giant low! He delivers another set of low blows, and that breaks the grip, and then the cavalry shows up!

http://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/wcw-95/barrywindham.jpg

“The Blackjack” enters the ring, and he keeps The Giant and the other two men dressed as Sting at bay! Dustin slaps him on the back, excited to have some backup!

LARIAT!!!

What the hell?!?

Barry Windham just turned around and blasted Rhodes with the lariat! He looks down at what he did, his brother, his friend, down on the mat. Tony says it must have been an accident, as Windham starts trying to help Dustin back to his feet. He lightly slaps Dustin, trying to wake him up. “The Natural” is just starting to get his bearings again.

And then Windham hits the ropes and drills him with another one!

Bischoff laughs maniacally, as Barry and Giant leave the ring! Tony is completely disgusted, calling Windham a Judas! But in the ring, Sting is back on his feet, and after some staring down at the fallen, crushed, broken body of Rhodes, he picks up his legs and locks in the Scorpion Deathlock.

Bischoff is right on top of things, but Dustin isn't even moving. He's completely out of it, and Eric lifts his arm, watching it drop once….

Twice…….

And three times! Eric calls for the bell!

Winner in 10:08 and NEW WCW World Heavyweight champion: Sting

It is party time in the ring, as Eric Bischoff, The Giant, Vader, Roddy Piper, Randy Savage, Scott Hall, and Sting bask in the boos. Barry Windham has headed backstage already, seen getting trash thrown at him as he walked. Bischoff congratulates the NEW KoW World Heavyweight champion, and Tony sounds like he's going to throw up as they produce a can of spraypaint. Hall shakes it up, and Sting himself sprays the letters on the belt. Ventura simply says “So this is what WCW's franchise has come to?” as Tony is speechless. There are plenty of high fives and handshakes going on, as more trash begins to litter the ring. Bischoff says that now, with the title and with Sting on their side, there is no resistance that WCW can put up, the Kings of Wrestling now officially rule the entire pro wrestling world!

But wait… a lone spotlight shines from the stage…

Up there in the rafters! Is that Sting?! What Sting is real?!? Is it one of the Stings down around the ring, or the one in the rafters? Eric tells the production truck to turn that light off, that the KoW are the spotlight! He is screaming that this is the real Sting, the one holding the World title! What is happening, screams Tony and Jesse; and as Tony says that we will have to try and sort this out on Nitro, the light comes back on – and the Sting from the rafters has disappeared without a trace.

The show goes off the air on a solemn note. The Kings of Wrestling hold all the cards again; but did Sting join the KoW, or is Sting the man in the rafters? Who is the World Heavyweight champion?!? The only thing for sure, is that everyone should tune into Nitro tomorrow night as we begin the build up to World War 3!

Notes: Hall and Eric seemed out of their depth around the other big names; Hall must just did not do well tonight.

Some character notes out of Spring Stampede:

On Worldwide, Magnum TA has had a gimmick change to Authority Figure (Wholesome), which rated a B+

Tyler Mane, who had previously been Biohazard, was the man who interfered in Regal's match. His new gimmick is Bodyguard (Brute), which rated a perfect 100, A*! He will be reintroduced on Nitro.

Surge's heel turn went pretty well.

Barry Windham's heel turn was a complete success.

Sting's gimmick has changed to The Crow, which rated a B. Did Sting really turn heel? I won't tell here! You'll have to watch Nitro! :D

----------------------------------------

Lot of high scores here! I guess that means my built up matches may be getting a bit predictable?

:p Anyways, here's the breakdown:

AMarc9-8: 9

TheBigBad1013: 9

The_CoC: 8

crackerjack: 8

The Final Countdown: 10

Happy0wns: 6

KnowYourEnemy: 10

Mattitude90: 10

Satyr24: 10

Smasher1311: 9

Sturcke: 5

Uncrewed: 8

Warhawk8492: 9

Thanks to the tiebreaker about the time of the main event, Mattitude90 picks up the win this month! I could have been mean and actually went with what became the main event, but I counted that time for the announced main event. So I hope you all liked this show, and I'm looking forward to unraveling the mystery of who the World champion is now!

When I saw genuine Sting's picture instead of Cobra Sting, I was sure that was the real Sting. Now, I'm not so sure. It would seem that the Sting we glimpsed in the rafters right before the end would have to be the real one. I have no idea who you have playing Fake Sting, but I can't see him being over enough to hold the World title...unless you have a different Fake Sting now? So many questions! (Which is exactly the point, of course.) Regardless, it was an awesome twist.

I really love the subtle foreshadowing you work in. I thought something was fishy when you had Dustin mention how he'd happily give title shots to Ricky and Jake, but skipped right over Barry, and Barry mentioning it himself solidified it in my mind. It was a nice little tip of the cap without being blatantly, beat-you-over-the-head obvious, which is an art I wish WWE was better at. Awesome show all the way around!

On a much more important note: why didn't Puma use his super speed to prevent Surge from completing his betrayal?!?!?!:eek::eek:

Did Sting just????? Rhodes title reign is over????? But...What???? That was one of the best written shows on the board.....Sting heel? No... Was that Willow??? It was.... That was the best WCW thing I have seen.

I have no idea where this Sting thing is going now and I love it. Rhodes is going to be pissed with out a doubt. Austin's rise continues as he takes down Double A and moving on to Flair WOOOOOOOO. Can easily see those two stealing the show. Pillman's promos again are a favorite but Hogan's for me stole the show promo wise. I don't know why but Hogan still feels like the most important character in this diary, maybe because at this time he was the most important figure in wrestling close to Micheals or Austin. But whose side is Hogan on? It doesn't look like he is going back to Red and Yellow and thats a good thing, he can still be a babyface Hollywood Hulk Hogan.

Windam turning heel, what a meany. The only thing noticably missing from this show was the Iahtolia of Rock and Rolla! The Highlight Reel! Y....2...J Chris Jericho! :D:D:D Loved it Beejus.

WHAAAATT? That was a superb pay-per-view! I can't imagine The Crow turning his back on WCW, but that only raises the question of who the imposters are. It's like a kayfabe version of the Black Scorpion, where the guy behind the mask kept changing. :D Looking forward to seeing where you take this next, Beejus.

And three, thou shalt not mess with Devon and Mongo, the Vyle brothers! [Note: Devon's face turn went pretty well.] (D)

The Vyle Brothers defeat The Armstrong Brothers with a lifting neckbreaker on BG to win the United States Tag Team championships! (C+)

We go from that celebration to the backstage parking garage, where we see Dustin Rhodes arrive at the America West Arena (B)

Option 5: Mean Gene’s backstage pass!

Despite what actually transpired on the show, the mood started off very jovial backstage at Nitro, as on his final night with WCW, Nick Bockwinkel told some hilarious road stories from his days of active traveling. Also, Scott Hall and Larry Zbyszko, already friends, bonded even further with their shared adoration of motorbikes. You wouldn't get me anywhere near one of those things, personally. Maybe that is what led to Zbyszko's declarations later in the evening? In some different news, WCW officials found out that they were counted among a national battle in Japan throughout March, and just like World Championship Wrestling always does, we came in first of the three companies! WCW have also begun working agreements with small companies All Pro Wrestling and Steel City Wrestling, promising the two companies that some of their stars will be able to get some air time on WCW television. Meng brought a slew of alcohol to the party backstage at the Disney taping for Pro. After Spring Stampede, Dustin Rhodes was reportedly given a hug in respect for his World title reign, while Cactus Jack and Steve Austin were praised for their amazing matches on the show. Dustin was very happy with this, while Jack was just regularly happy, and Austin seemed pleased.

Option 6: The Monday Night War Neilson ratings!

Monday Nitro drew a solid 7.66 rating on TNT, while Raw on USA got a 4.76.

Option 7: Tony Schiavone’s moment of the week!

What happened at Spring Stampede?! My head is still buzzing as I get ready to go out and call Nitro, because nobody knows just what the heck went on! Sting was everywhere, we have a new World champion, and Barry Windham?! If this is what WCW is turning into, then you have to keep watching just to keep track of it all!

Option 8: Mike Tenay’s International Report!

New IWGP World Tag Team champions were crowned last week, as The Bull Powers, consisting of Satoshi Kojima and Manabu Nakanishi, defeated Masa Saito and Sasuke to win back the belts they had lost to Saito and Sasuke back in November. This is the second time that they've held the titles.

Option 9: A special gift from the WCW Catalog!

It's springtime, and that means time to break out your t-shirts and ball caps! Press zero to get a code which you can send a postcard to in order to get an officially licensed WCW “bullseye” logo shirt and cap combo deal 15% off the regular price!

---------------------------------------------------

Aw, shucks, guys... you like me, you really like me! ;)

It seems everyone wants to talk about Sting, so let's talk about Sting. There are currently five people walking around in black coats with painted faces, and only one of them is Steve Corino like I had said back in my roster breakdown of January. Which one is the real deal, though? This is something that probably won't be solved in only one Nitro, so it's going to be quite mysterious for you all... I will throw a few hints here and there, though, of course!

On a much more important note: why didn't Puma use his super speed to prevent Surge from completing his betrayal?!?!?!

Thanks for the nod on the foreshadowing. I wanted that to come off as just that way, with Dustin not so much ignoring Barry, but just getting a little lost in the moment... and Barry feeling a tad salty because of the omission. What is his status? TUNE INTO NITRO TO FIND OUT!

Puma was distracted by the other guy who came out... who will be getting introduced on Nitro. TUNE INTO NITRO TO FIND OUT!

Loved it Beejus.

To be honest, I was feeling a little out of ideas for Austin not long ago. I had only started the feud with he and Owen because neither really had any plans, so a short comedy feud seemed a good fit. But where does one go from there? Well, beating Hart has him in the sights of the rest of the Horsemen; why not? Austin and Flair definitely steal the show - they have great chemistry, I think the last match I put on between them was an easy A. Hogan is an interesting note here because I wasn't sure how far to take that segment. I was fully going to have an interview with him, but when I changed the PPV date, it no longer jived with the day he was coming off of vacation. So I just ran it as a video based on overness. He is back on vacation now, for how long only I know. The picture I used for him, dressed in black and red, is meant to show that just as much as he may be going back to Hulkamania, he just as easily could have learned his lesson and is ready to fall in line with President Piper!

As Jericho goes... I really need to find him some bigger opponents. I just didn't feel he and Candido would have put on a very PPV level match, so I'm probably going to run that one throughout an upcoming week and moving both guys on. Jericho holding gold is always a good thing at least, right?

In classic Beejus fashion, I am now happily confused and excited to see where the story goes after a pay-per-view. Great work.

I think that's the best "in general" (i.e. not on one show) compliment I've ever gotten.

You're the king, Beej.

Thanks to everyone who has read and commented so far, I hope to have Nitro posted within the week, or at least by the end of the weekend!

Every time I read a PPV in a Beejus dynasty, I wonder how Beej will be able to top it. And I'll be derned if he doesn't figure out a way to do it! :D Seriously, mad props to Spring Stampede. And I'm going to take a crack and say that the "Sting" that won the WCW World Title was... *long drumroll*.... *JOY TO THE WORLD!* *long drumroll keeps going*... Man Mountain Rock. :p

He talks about the elation in the eight man tag team match as Dustin Rhodes scores a big victory in order to earn the right to face Eric Bischoff in the ring, but that all turned to horror as Bischoff had another plan up his sleeve. In the end, Ricky Steamboat was viciously assaulted, Barry Windham turned his back on everyone who cared about him, and a new member of the KoW was crowned champion in Sting… but is it the real Sting? Perhaps we will find out tonight on Nitro! </p><p> </p><p> <span>http://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/wcw-95/kow.jpg</span></p><div style="text-align:center;"><p> <iframe width="75" height="75" src="<a href="https://www.youtube.com/embed/c5MsNPqf8_M?rel=0&showinfo=0" rel="external nofollow">https://www.youtube.com/embed/c5MsNPqf8_M?rel=0&showinfo=0"</a> frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe></p></div><p></p><p></p><p> It takes no time at all before members of the Kings of Wrestling are out here to brag. <strong>Eric Bischoff</strong> and his smarmy smile leads out <strong>Roddy Piper</strong>. Behind him come the new members; three men who are dressed as <strong>Sting</strong>, one who is carrying the World championship over his shoulder, and… </p><p> <span>http://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/wcw-95/barrywindham2.jpg</span></p><p> “Blackjack” Barry Windham, although Tony quips that perhaps they should start calling him “Benedict” Barry Windham instead. Windham has a silver Haliburton briefcase with him, which Jesse says must be his payment for last night. Roddy gets the microphone first, and he says that people have told him for months that the Kings of Wrestling are dead, the KoW is not on top anymore because they don't have Hogan or the World title, that they might as well give up and leave because there was no way that they would be able to take the belt back from Dustin Rhodes. “Hey, big respect to you, kid; you got a great heart, you can connect with these people just like your daddy did, and you're one tough athlete. One day, you'll make a great, long reigning champion. But it is not – this – day.” He says that these days belong to the KoW, and that's a black and white fact, jack! He hands the microphone off to Eric Bischoff, who says that this was the perfect plan! He gives credit for coming up with it to Piper, Harley, and Larry, who is already paying dividends that his predecessor in the group, “that stodgy old Bockwinkel”, would never have considered. He says it was even Larry who was able to pull aside this new company man, and convinced him to see reason. </p><p> </p><p> Eric takes a moment to address next month's pay-per-view event then, saying that World War 3, the sixty man, three ring, over the top rope battle royal, will happen once again! He says that “everyone who is anyone” is invited to join the match, no matter if they are from the Kings of Wrestling, WCW, Four Horsemen, Japan, Mexico, Europe, or even New York if they have the guts to show up where the big boys play! He says that there is only one rule that he is implementing for this year, and that is simply this: especially given he will probably be defending the World title that night, there will be no Sting in the World War 3 battle royal, and if anyone shows up dressed as Sting – even that false Sting who was hanging around in the rafters last night – they will be exposed, destroyed, fined, and fired on the spot! Bischoff says, however, that there is only one true Sting, and he's the man right here holding the KoW's World Heavyweight title! Sting holds the belt high in the air, as Eric says that yes, there are other men here dressed as Sting, but they are young men taking the initiative to learn from one of the greatest men in the sport. He dubs them all “The Sting Army” and says that soon they all will be holding gold around here!</p><p> </p><p> The microphone is given to Barry now, and Tony says that he definitely wants to hear the reason for this. Windham says that when he came back to WCW last year, it was to help Dustin. When he stayed in WCW after that, he wanted to reclaim some of the gold that he's lost throughout the years; former World, US, and Tag Team champion that he is. “But all I ended up doing, was playing backup for Dustin!” He says that his good nature was completely taken advantage of, and it led to him fighting an endless battle against the KoW for the past few months; “and that's only after we cleared out the Horsemen.” He says that the straws that broke the camel's back fell last night, as Dustin said he would give anyone a title shot, but didn't even ask Barry if he would get one. And then, when Barry could have earned a title shot, when Dustin stayed in the ring far too long “because he was trying to be a glory hog like his fat daddy always was” then who did he tag in to try and give a title shot to? Jake Roberts, or as Barry calls him “Some broken down old man who Dustin knows he can beat, instead of the Sweetwater stallion, the man who taught Dustin everything he knows, because he's afraid!” Barry says that Dustin kept him in the background, toiling underneath Rhodes on his rise to fame, because he was scared that Windham would make him look like the fool that he is! Barry even says that Dustin doesn't count as a Texan, because he's some “slicked back city boy” who happens to have been born in the greatest state in the country. Barry says that he will never be looked down upon in the Kings of Wrestling, and all it took was one taste of the lariat. “And the bonus I got for the second lariat, the one where you looked me square in the eyes as I did it? Let's just say that Mr. Bischoff has paid me quite handsomely for my services,” as he holds up his briefcase. He hands the microphone back to Piper, who says that Sting is also the newest, hottest member of the KoW, and now that Sting has finally won the World title again, after being forced out of the title picture for such a long, long time, there's no way he's going to give it up without a fight. Roddy says that it isn't just about the man you see, it's about the man behind this mask – and this man is very angry with WCW. “That's why he is the champion of the Kings of Wrestling, and that's the way it is, and that's the way it's gonna stay! And if you don't like it? You try to change it, and you'll be lying in a hospital bed right next to Ricky Steamboat – and that's the black and white facts.”</p><p> </p><p> Following a commercial break, we go to the commentary booth where Tony, Jesse, and Gene stand. Tony talks about some of the other things from Spring Stampede, but says that it's difficult to get away from the fact that Barry Windham and a group of men dressed as Sting – “maybe it is Sting, maybe it isn't, no one is sure” – all joined the KoW and helped to screw Dustin Rhodes out of his World's Heavyweight championship. Gene agrees completely, saying that the KoW have gone way too far this time, and he will have words with WCW Commissioner Magnum TA to discuss this later tonight. “The Body” however says that while he isn't happy to see the title being disgraced again like it is, truth be told it was a solid plan that the KoW put together. He says that they took what they wanted, and we don't have to like it or dislike it because it's what happened. Tony says that we will hopefully get some answers pretty soon, and then we can find out who will stand up for WCW against this group of thugs. “Speaking of thugs,” Tony says, it's time for our first match, and it features one of those KoW thugs, as we head down to Gary Michael Cappetta!</p><p> </p><div style="text-align:right;"><p><span style="font-size:8px;"><em>Notes: Eric was underwhelming in his delivery. Tony improvised well with his colleagues, while Jesse and Gene worked the crowd well, using the freedom of being off-script to full advantage. Dean almost immediately takes Syxx to the mat in this one, nullifying his offense with one of the best ground games in wrestling. Jesse says that if Tenay wasn't too busy running WCW Live tonight, he would be out here rattling off move names, but he can't keep up with Malenko and his thousand holds. The match turns around thanks to Syxx dodging a heel kick and pulling Dean by the back of his tights so that the back of his head smashes off the middle turnbuckle pad. Syxx takes over, but he only holds the lead for a few minutes until Dean comes back. Syxx is sneaky, but then he proves himself even sneakier, as he pushes Dean toward the ropes, and he manages to hide with his body that a man dressed as Sting nails Dean with the bat into his midsection! “Sting” disappears as quickly as he had arrived. Syxx then uses a rollup, and with Randy Anderson not having seen the interference, and he scores the three count! We have a new champion crowned, another belt stolen by the Kings of Wrestling!</p><p> </p><div style="text-align:right;"><p><span style="font-size:8px;"><em>Match Time: 9:05</em></span></p><p><span style="font-size:8px;"><em> Rating: C+</em></span></p></div><p></p></div><p></p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="35691" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><div style="text-align:center;"><p><span style="color:#FF0000;"><strong><span style="text-decoration:underline;">One Upset Cowboy Commissioner</span></strong></span></p><p> “Mean” Gene Okerlund is at the top of the aisle, and he brings out <strong>Magnum TA</strong>. The spokesman of the WCW Championship Committee is in a very foul mood, as Eric Bischoff completely subverted the committee with his stunt last night. “Things like this is what we have the committee for, and that will not be happening again.” Magnum also says that we now have a World champion who we don't know who it is, and that will not fly either. Gene asks if that statement means Magnum doesn't think that it's the real Sting, but he says he doesn't know what to think about the situation; only that it needs rectified, and soon. Magnum surprises Gene by telling him that there <em>will</em> be a World title match at World War 3, and he's keeping an eye on the talent over the next week or so to see who is worthy of the shot. He also takes a moment to address Barry Windham, saying that no one has ever held Barry down except for himself; and warns him that his actions will have some pretty severe consequences in the <em>very</em> near future. He closes by telling everyone that while Dustin is at home being tended to by his family, despite Magnum's advice he will be live on Nitro next week – in a non-wrestling role, to heal up further after the vicious attacks last night – and he will talk candidly about what has gone on.</p><p> </p><div style="text-align:right;"><p><span style="font-size:8px;"><em>Notes: Magnum enjoyed being off-script, performing well.</em></span></p><p><span style="font-size:8px;"><em> Rating: B</em></span></p></div><p></p></div><p></p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="35691" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><div style="text-align:center;"><p><span style="color:#FF0000;"><strong><span style="text-decoration:underline;">“Outsider” Scott Hall w/Kimberly Page vs. The Patriot</span></strong></span></p><p> Hall is looking to bounce back after last night, and he attacks while Patriot is handing out flags to the kids in the front row. Hall feigns sympathy when the kids are upset, but slams Patriot's head into the guardrail right in front of them then, going “oops” like he had slipped, and shrugging when they (correctly) don't believe him. This match is all about Scott, and he doesn't even bother with the Outsider's Edge as he pins Patriot with one hand following a fall away slam.</p><p> </p><p> Kimberly joins Scott in the ring afterwards, and he only has one thing on his mind: “D-D-Me”. He says that Page should have just stayed home and collected on Kim's paychecks like he always did, but instead the glory hog had to come out during last night's match and jump Hall. Hall says that Dallas should be happy, because now he can go cry in his beer again like he did before Scott introduced him to Kimmy. He knows that Dallas has a sit-down interview airing later tonight, and warns Page that whatever he said in it, those words may have to be eaten later, courtesy of “The Outsider”.</p><p> </p><div style="text-align:right;"><p><span style="font-size:8px;"><em>Notes: Hall's match performance stood out as being really good, and then he really used his freedom to go off-script to his advantage.</em></span></p><p><span style="font-size:8px;"><em> Ratings: C- / C+</em></span></p></div><p></p></div><p></p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="35691" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><div style="text-align:center;"><p><span style="color:#FF0000;"><strong><span style="text-decoration:underline;">Brotherly Love and Monsters</span></strong></span></p><p> “Mean” Gene is in the aisle again, and he is so happy to bring out his guests for the moment, <strong>Rick and Scott Steiner</strong>! He tells them that it's great to see the duo back together again, and Rick agrees. He says that nothing can tear the two apart, because there's nothing that can break the bonds of their blood. He barks excitedly, and Scott says that all they needed was the right push in the right direction, and just when they least expected it, the KoW gave them that push. Scott says that they will take down the Chain Gang at their leisure, but the end goal is regaining the WCW World Tag Team titles from those little monsters who took them away!</p><p> </p><p> That jab does not go unheard, as just as soon as it was uttered, <strong>The Kings' Monsters</strong> emerge from the back! Giant towers over all who stand before him, as Vader sticks his finger right in Scott's chest and tells him that the Monsters didn't steal the titles away, they took them by doing what they do best, destroying everyone in their path. Scott replies that if he and Rick had been on the same page like they always were, there was no way the belts would have gone anywhere. Vader scoffs, saying that if Scott wants to think he can do anything to take the belts back, he should meet “The Monster” in the main event, right here tonight! The crowd cheers as Scott accepts with no hesitation, saying that he'll leave Rick in the back as long as Vader leaves his “big boyfriend” backstage as well! Giant finally moves, looking to attack, but Vader holds him back, telling him to leave it to him, he'll shut Scott's mouth and show him that nobody says things like that while it's still Vader time! However, the day went to Disco, as the fans applauded his dancing more than Scorpio, as Inferno treated them to some slick moves right out of Saturday Night Fever! Scorpio couldn't take it however, and as Dawn Marie held Disco's attention, Scorpio attacked from behind! He slammed Disco down, and (with Jesse saying that Inferno is too worn out from the rigorous dancing to move) climbed to the top rope to hit him with the Tumbleweed! A lot of the audience seemed to tune out as well, feeling this was going to be a Jarrett showcase, but all of them were taken by surprise at the ferocity that Meng fought with! Jarrett got in some solid blows on the former member of the KoW, but the Tongan warrior rose up with a vengeance and utilized savate kicks and strong overhand chops before blasting Jarrett with a headbutt that knocked him into next week! Our first group of people we hear from are three of the Four Horsemen, as last year's victor of the Spoils of War, <strong>“Double A” Arn Anderson</strong>, is flanked by <strong>Owen Hart</strong> and <strong>“Latino Heat” Eddy Guerrero</strong>, all three joined by Bobby Heenan. Anderson says that he has been training up his young proteges to not only stay but to survive World War 3 the same way that he did last year. He tells us that no matter what Horseman wins the match, we have the same goal, and that will be getting back on top of World Championship Wrestling, where the elite deserve. “The Brain” chimes in to say that the Horsemen are the right bet to make, because they have the experience, the youth, the talent, and the drive to run this place to the top or the bottom, and especially once they own the Spoils of War. The men hold up the four fingers, The Symbol of Excellence, as we move from them to black and white footage showing <strong>Jeff Jarrett</strong> and <strong>California Kip</strong>, along with Woman. This segment was obviously pre-taped prior to Jeff's match, as he is all laughs and confidence. They say that it doesn't matter how many people are in the match from other organizations in wrestling, because the Kings of Wrestling will always rise to the top and rule over all others. <strong>Steve Austin</strong> joins us next, as he says that there is only one prize to be had in this sport of professional wrestling, and it's the only one he's never been given a chance at; so when he wins World War 3 and the Spoils of War, he will be getting a World title match immediately! We lastly go to <strong>“The Total Package” Lex Luger</strong> who warns everyone that he is going to win World War 3 this year because he's the only man strong enough to throw out every single man single-handedly; no matter if it's Ric Flair, the Steiners, Randy Savage, Hulk Hogan, Roddy Piper, or even The Giant or Vader, he has the strongest back and he will be the man holding the Spoils of War at the end, because he's “The Total Package” and that means he will be the man who gets what he wants! Lex flexes as we fade out to Gene Okerlund, who says to keep watching WCW programming to find out more of who will be participating in World War 3!</p><p> </p><div style="text-align:right;"><p><span style="font-size:8px;"><em>Notes: Arn's interview was really helped by Heenan.</em></span></p><p><span style="font-size:8px;"><em> Rating: C+</em></span></p></div><p></p></div><p></p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="35691" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><div style="text-align:center;"><p><span style="color:#FF0000;"><strong><span style="text-decoration:underline;">Maybe Diamonds ARE Forever</span></strong></span></p><p> Up next, we have a special interview that was conducted earlier today at the home of <strong>Diamond Dallas Page</strong>. Page is walking around his house, and it appears that there are a bunch of pictures that have been taken off the walls and personal effects removed, as there are empty spaces everywhere. He says that the past month has been hell for him personally, as his own care for his wife cost him everything. He talks about how he only wanted her to stay backstage for her own protection, because he couldn't keep his eyes on her when there's people out there doing things like Savage did to Terri. Dallas then changes gears, talking about having watched Nitro the past few weeks and seeing Hall and Kim talking about him, rubbing his nose in the fact that they got one over on him. “But hey, monkey; you might get over on me once, but don't ever think that I'll stay down forever!” He says that there's a reason that fans have called him “The People's Champion” and that's because he lives to get psyched up by them. He tells his people that he'll be back on Nitro next week, and if Hall gets in his way, he'll be first in line to feel the BANG!</p><p> </p><div style="text-align:right;"><p><span style="font-size:8px;"><em>Notes: Page's masterful improvising led to some great crowd reactions.</em></span></p><p><span style="font-size:8px;"><em> Rating: B+</em></span></p></div><p></p></div><p></p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="35691" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><div style="text-align:center;"><p><span style="color:#FF0000;"><strong><span style="text-decoration:underline;">New Bodyguard</span></strong></span></p><p><span style="color:#FF0000;"><strong><span style="text-decoration:underline;"> WCW United States Heavyweight Championship</span></strong></span></p><p><span style="color:#FF0000;"><strong><span style="text-decoration:underline;"> Lord Steven Regal vs. Coach Irvin Alexander w/Ted DiBiase</span></strong></span></p><p> Before the match, Lord Regal is backstage with Mike Tenay. Tenay asks him about the man who we saw help him defeat Finlay last night, and while at first Regal feigns innocence (“Are you bloody blind, Michael? Did you not see the incredible maneuver I used to knock that ruffian out and score the pin?”) when presented with footage of the match that proves him wrong makes Regal admit that this is a man sent across the waters by the Queen herself. “Her Highness was so impressed by the way I outlasted all those supposed tough guys single handedly to win this United States title that she sent me her best guardsman.” Lord Regal introduces the man as Sir Tyler Karlet (pronounced “kar-lay”) who has been granted the honor of servitude in the name of Lord Regal. He says that Tyler merely helped Finlay to his feet, but the poor, drunken Irishman fell over due to the staggers, and thus was pinned by Regal when he was too intoxicated to kick out. He says that at any point Finlay can put down the “devil's brew” and step into the ring with him again, the result will be the same!</p><p> </p><p> Regal is without his new monster tonight, Jesse saying that there must have been some sort of dispute in getting a manager's license and that he blames Magnum TA for the holdup. But his Lordship is taken aback by the wrestling acumen of the coach, who takes him down and leans over Regal very masterfully. This match is very much the European style of catch-as-catch-can wrestling taking on the amateur style of American wrestling, and neither seems to gain much of an advantage in that field. However, Regal comes complete with a backup plan, as he utilizes a roll-up pin and grabs the singlet of Alexander in order to hold him down for just barely a three count. DiBiase tries to reason with Charles Robinson about the foul play, but by that time Regal has already grabbed his title belt and heads backstage.</p><p> </p><div style="text-align:right;"><p><span style="font-size:8px;"><em>Match Time: 7:51</em></span></p><p><span style="font-size:8px;"><em> Notes: Ted did some good work at ringside.</em></span></p><p><span style="font-size:8px;"><em> Ratings: D / C+</em></span></p></div><p></p></div><p></p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="35691" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><div style="text-align:center;"><p><span style="color:#FF0000;"><strong><span style="text-decoration:underline;">Gene gets a Hell Yeah</span></strong></span></p><p><span style="color:#FF0000;"><strong><span style="text-decoration:underline;"> “Latino Heat” Eddy Guerrero w/Bobby Heenan vs. Steve Austin</span></strong></span></p><p> Pre-match, “Mean” Gene is in the aisle, urging fans to call the WCW Hotline for all the news regarding World Championship Wrestling and all the other companies in the world of wrestling that matter. From there, he brings out Steve Austin, asking him about last night's match against Arn Anderson. Austin tells everyone that “The Enforcer” lives up to his credentials, calling him “one tough son of a bitch” but says that no man in WCW is tougher than a driven Steve Austin. He says that since he dropped Anderson with the Stunner, he's beaten Owen, he's beaten Eddy before but he'll do it again tonight, that leaves only one horse left to cross and that's Ric Flair. He says that once he beats Flair, then there's no way WCW can keep him down because then he'll be in that top echelon of people. Austin asks the people to give him a hell yeah if they want to see him take down Ric Flair, and they give him a resounding cheer for that.</p><p> </p><p> The match starts off with Eddy trying to rush Austin, but Steve sees him coming and fires back with right hands. The crowd are simply off the charts for Steve Austin, who feeds their cheers with more brutality as he sends Guerrero flying out of the ring through the middle ropes! Eddy takes over briefly, but never quite finds traction as Austin remains all over him. However, the match comes to an abrupt end as “The Nature Boy” himself, decked out in a fine suit, comes out and gets into a fight with Austin, causing Mark Curtis to call for the bell.</p><p> </p><p> However, once Austin is locked in battle with Flair, that's when the trap is sprung. In a scene reminiscent of Uncensored, the rest of the Horsemen strike, and try as Austin may, he cannot fight off four men at one time. Bobby Heenan gets a microphone, and he berates Austin as he gets stomped and beaten on the canvas. “The Brain” scolds Austin for thinking he's even in the same league as the Four Horsemen, saying that rednecks like him don't deserve to be in the same ring with classy people like the Horsemen! Tony scoffs, saying that these “classy people” are perpetrating a four-on-one assault. Bobby says that they never told Austin that he gets a match against Flair if he defeated Arn last night, only that they'd consider it. He says that they have taken it under consideration, and decided that he refuses to sign any contract that would put Ric Flair in the same match against Austin, even going so far as to make sure that the two are in different rings at the World War 3 battle royal! Owen and Eddy hold a decimated Austin up off the mat, and the five members of the Horsemen pose with the four fingers displayed, as Tony says that this is just a travesty – while Jesse points out that it's Austin's own fault that he doesn't have any friends to help him fight a battle like this.</p><p> </p><div style="text-align:right;"><p><span style="font-size:8px;"><em>Notes: Austin improvised well with Gene, who did some great crowd interaction. Rick gets dragged into a dark corner and thrown aside, as Brian and Barry leave him lying on the floor.</p><p> </p><p> This match is definitely not for the faint of heart. Vader and Scott have met in the ring plenty of times before, and each time it has always been a beautiful display of brutality. This is no different, as they pulverize each other with horrendous punches, bone breaking slams, and some of the hardest clotheslines one could ever hope to see. Scott even muscles Vader into an overhead belly to belly suplex, nearly scoring a three count before “The Monster” escaped by grabbing the bottom rope. An attempted Frankensteiner becomes a Power Bomb, but Vader is too weak to cover right away and only scores a long, long two count. Even Tommy Young seems pained by watching the two go at it, Jesse comparing this to a Godzilla movie gone wrong. Tommy gets caught in the crossfire of a body slam though, as Scott's feet catch him in the face, and of course that is when Steiner starts hitting clotheslines and even lifts Vader into a flipping fall away slam! The Chain Gang make their presence felt again however, and Scott is assaulted by the two burly bikers. They hit Scott with the Hard Ride, leading to Vader hitting the Vader Bomb on him in the corner. Woman rouses Young back to his feet, who can only make the count, one, two, and three.</p><p> </p><p> Not ready to give up on this advantage, <strong>The Giant</strong> also joins the three men in the ring. Four of the most menacing men in not just the KoW but the entire world begin laying into Scott, culminating in a tandem chokeslam by The Giant and Adams. Before much more damage can be done, Rick emerges from the back, still carrying the chain that was used against him earlier. He does what he can, but even “The Dog-Faced Gremlin” cannot overcome these four men on his own. However… </p><p> </p><p> <iframe width="200" height="150" src="<a href="https://www.youtube.com/embed/O4Z1NxfjwuE?rel=0&showinfo=0" rel="external nofollow">https://www.youtube.com/embed/O4Z1NxfjwuE?rel=0&showinfo=0"</a> frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe></p><p> From out of the back roars <strong>The Road Warriors</strong>, armed with their own weapons! They throw off their shoulderpads on their way to the ring (which Ventura says wasn't the brightest idea, but then they aren't the brightest of people) and attack with steel chairs! Now that the pressure is off of them somewhat, Rick and Scott are able to get back into the action as well, and together the four tag team specialists are able to throw off their attackers and send them out of the ring!</p><p> </p><p> Before the show goes off the air, and even moreso before the eight men around the ring can do any further damage to each other, <strong>Eric Bischoff</strong> appears at the top of the aisle. He tells everyone to just calm the hell down! He says that since everyone wants a piece of everyone so badly, then next week he has a solution. “You four… against you four! Next week's Monday Nitro main event!” It's official, and the four of them snarl at one another as this week's Nitro goes off the air!</p><p> </p><div style="text-align:right;"><p><span style="font-size:8px;"><em>Match Time: 11:53</em></span></p><p><span style="font-size:8px;"><em> Notes: Giant's performance was fantastic.
