Because that promo wasn't purely heelish in my opinion.

I go by the Mick Foley advice "A good heel never thinks they're doing wrong" as often as I can. I was going for how Luger thinks Sting has gone soft, so he's trying to help him be tougher - but this method of "help" involved a steel plated forearm to the face.

WCW Saturday Night full card

WCW United States Heavyweight Championship

Stunning Steve Austin vs. “Guardian Angel” Bubba Rogers w/Dusty Rhodes

Comments: With his turn, i expect bigger things for Austin and him losing the US Title; however, i don't think that Big Bubba will be the one.

WCW World Tag Team Championship

The Road Warriors w/Dusty Rhodes vs. The Rock ‘n Roll Express

Comments: The only team that has a chance of winning the titles from the LOD IMO is The Steiners.

Hakushi w/Sonny Onoo vs. Cactus Jack

Comments: Does Hakushi ever had a damn chair smacked on his face in Japan?

“Total Package” Lex Luger vs. Shanghai Pierce

Comments: A good debut for Lex.

The Armstrong Brothers w/Col. Robert Parker vs. Scott and Steve Armstrong

Comments: Brad and Brian are the Armstrongs with the brightest future.

Stars ‘n Stripes, “Das Wunderkind” Alex Wright & Johnny B. Badd w/Teddy Long and Belle Libritis vs. The Heavenly Bodies & The Shooters w/Larry Zbyszko

Comments: Could go either way, but i think that Das Wunderkind needs a Saturday Night win, he's really been a flop by now after all of the hype on the start of the diary.

Fun Fan Signs (two-sign limit): The War of the Armstrongs!

I like the name Kings of Wrestling - though it always reminds me of the TNA faction with Jarrett and Hall & Nash.

WCW United States Heavyweight Championship

Stunning Steve Austin vs. “Guardian Angel” Bubba Rogers w/Dusty Rhodes

Comments: I can see a DQ victory for Austin here, perhaps with Pillman coming to his aid post-match.

WCW World Tag Team Championship

The Road Warriors w/Dusty Rhodes vs. The Rock ‘n Roll Express

Comments: This would be a fun match; Road Warriors being the relentless bad-ass heels, and Morton being the ultimate babyface. I'd love to see a RnR win, but Warriors have stronger foes in the Steiners and Heat to contend with.

Hakushi w/Sonny Onoo vs. Cactus Jack

Comments: Big fan of Shinzaki, but I'm predicting a win for Cactus here.

“Total Package” Lex Luger vs. Shanghai Pierce

Comments: Should be a squash; Luger is coming off a bit of a bomb of a run in the WWF, and some squash victories would help to re-establish him...

The Armstrong Brothers w/Col. Robert Parker vs. Scott and Steve Armstrong

Comments: Victory for the brothers Armstrong either way here.....

Stars ‘n Stripes, “Das Wunderkind” Alex Wright & Johnny B. Badd w/Teddy Long and Belle Libritis vs. The Heavenly Bodies & The Shooters w/Larry Zbyszko

Comments: I've got to be honest, I'm not too keen on the tag team name of "The Shooters"; Storm never, ever struck me as someone that you could apply that tag to; a good wrestler, sure, and I don't doubt that he could handle himself, but I can remember plenty of matches where his offence looked too light.

I've been following this diary from the start, along with a few other real life diaries; usually read on my phone and I'm never logged into the forums - my PC has my password stored! - but you've been doing a good job here. It's similar to the real life nWo 'invasion' - without The Outsiders, obviously - but the babyfaces haven't been as completely buried as they were in reality.

Plus the possibilities with Austin and Pillman.....

WCW World Heavyweight Championship: Hollywood Hogan w/The Queen © vs. Ron Simmons

Comments: Yeah Ron's got absolutely no chance here... what I'm hoping for is a strong showing and a placement in a top line feud falling out from this as one of Hogan's lackeys makes the save.

WCW United States Heavyweight Championship: “Stunning” Steve Austin © vs. Terry Gordy w/Col. Rob Parker

Comments: Austin is nearly... nearly at the point of moving on from the US title in my opinion.... Gordy's been on a strong run but I see this as being a long term feud between Austin & Parker's stable - he's not dropping at the first time of asking in my opinion.

Tony says we also have a rare treat as the Road Warriors and Stunning Steve are both defending their championships right here on the show, which Jesse calls bull on; saying that the Road Warriors, yes, they aren’t in a match tomorrow at Battlebowl – however, Austin will have a big title match against Terry Gordy tomorrow. Ventura says that it’s obvious the Bockwinkel conspiracy is still on. Tony says that also we will hear from a lot of wrestlers about what the Battlebowl series means for them, brothers will face brothers, and Cactus Jack looks for revenge from Starrcade against Hakushi, but right now we have a big eight-man tag match featuring four of WCW’s hottest young teams, let’s get right down to the action, and Gary Michael Cappetta!

Rating: B-

http://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/WCW-94/ThePatriot.jpghttp://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/WCW-94/MarcusBagwell.jpghttp://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/WCW-94/AlexWright.jpghttp://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/WCW-94/MarcMero.jpghttp://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/WCW-94/WCWs/Belle.jpghttp://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/WCW-94/WCWs/TeddyLong.jpg
http://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/WCW-94/vs.jpg

http://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/WCW-94/TomPrichard.jpghttp://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/WCW-94/JimmyDelRay.jpghttp://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/WCW-94/LanceStorm.jpghttp://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/WCW-94/DeanMalenko.jpghttp://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/WCW-94/WCWs/LarryZbyszko.jpg

Stars ‘n Stripes, “Das Wunderkind” Alex Wright & Johnny B. The fans are happy to see the young Belle on the outside, as she hands out flags to the children in the crowd, and gives one to older fans with sign saying “Let the Liberty Belle Ring” and “The Belle of the Ball”. Inside the ring is a different matter though, as these eight men have had a lot of problems over the past few weeks, and the Shooters seem especially agitated as they pick apart young Alex Wright every chance they get. Wright finally makes the tag out to Bagwell, but when the Stars ‘n Stripes go for their suplex/crossbody on Tom Prichard, Larry Zbyszko shakes the top rope, making Marcus crotch himself! Del Ray hits Patriot with a savate kick as Storm locks a single leg crab on Bagwell, drawing the victory.

Winners in 8:53: The Shooters & Heavenly Bodies

Rating: C-

http://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/WCW-94/BrianJames.jpghttp://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/WCW-94/BradArmstrong.jpghttp://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/WCW-94/WCWs/RobertFuller.jpghttp://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/WCW-94/vs.jpghttp://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/WCW-94/ScottArmstrong.jpghttp://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/WCW-94/SteveArmstrong.jpg
The Armstrong Brothers w/Colonel Robert Parker vs. Scott and Steve Armstrong

Referee: Nick Patrick

One fan’s sign has dubbed this “The War of the Armstrongs!”, and while it’s not a very long battle, this one is quite the war; as Jesse says, this one has probably already happened a few times in “old man Armstrong’s” backyard. This one never seems like one that could go either way, but at a certain point, there’s a surprise guest as Bob Armstrong makes an appearance! He makes his presence felt by pulling young BG aside and arguing with him, which leads to Brad coming over in the ring and watching – which leads to Colonel Parker walking over but getting chased back by a riled-up “Bullet Bob”! Parker nearly gets his lights turned out, but he moves fast to get out of the way! Meanwhile, in the ring Brad gets rolled up from behind by Scott – and they nab a very surprising three count!

Winners in 7:40: Scott and Steve Armstrong

Rating: C+

http://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/WCW-94/BobArmstrong.jpghttp://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/WCW-94/BrianJames.jpg

With Parker scared away, “Bullet Bob” enters the ring and requests the microphone from Cappetta. He calls his youngest son into the ring, which BG answers. Bob says that he’s been watching this past year, and while he’s disappointed in Brad for following BG, he’s most upset at the behavior of BG as of late; “Grabbing yourself on national television, following around that chicken salesman; is this the kind of crude behavior you learned in the military?” BG says that he isn’t like his father and older brothers, saying that he’s not just gonna sit in daddy’s wrestling company all his life like Scott, he wants to be someone! And Colonel Parker will do that for him, and his so called crude behavior has more people talking about him than all of his father’s regional title wins ever did for him! BG says that Brad is the smartest of all of them, because he knows that to get ahead, they need more than just a name from the 70’s like Armstrong; they need to be their own men. Bob replies that he’s glad to see them trying to make their own name, but he questions their means of getting there. BG says that the Colonel has big plans for them, and all they have to do is live up to it! Bob asks if those plans are like the plans Parker had for Austin, which causes BG to stop for a minute. Bob takes over then, saying that he feels his son needs someone to show him some old family discipline again, and with that in mind, he entered the Battlebowl himself, in hopes of meeting BG or Brad in either the qualifying matches or in the battle royal! Bob leaves the ring saying that he wants to give his boy the biggest whoopin’ he ever has!

Rating: C

http://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/WCW-94/TerryGordy.jpghttp://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/WCW-94/WCWs/RobertFuller.jpghttp://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/WCW-94/WCWs/GeneOkerlund.jpg

Colonel Parker is shaken somewhat backstage after what happened in the ring, but now that he’s both away from Bob Armstrong and flanked by Terry Gordy, he’s all big talk with “Mean” Gene Okerlund for their interview. Sonny Onoo gets into arguments around ringside as fans have signs up reading “Bang Bang Hakushi is dead” and “Cactus Jack’s gonna kill you!” This one looks like it should be a great affair, as Jack’s initial brawling is tempered by the high flying, fast paced assault of the Japanese athlete. A sharp right forearm stops a handspring from turning into a hard blow, as Jack begins mounting offence – but just about then, Vader slides into the ring and smashes Cactus over the back with a clubbing forearm, drawing the disqualification.

Winner by DQ in 5:52: Cactus Jack

Rating: B-

http://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/WCW-94/CactusJack.jpghttp://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/WCW-94/Vader.jpg

The big story comes after the match, as both Hakushi and Vader take turns double teaming Cactus! After warning fans to perhaps turn their young children from the screen, it shows shaky, seemingly hand-cam recorded footage of Ricky “The Dragon” Steamboat out with his wife and young son. They’re eating at a restaurant, meant to be in Pittsburgh this past week. From off camera comes “Hot Rod” Roddy Piper and “Macho Man” Randy Savage. We can’t hear what they say to the Steamboat family, but whatever it was, things quickly escalate to Savage and Piper beating Steamboat down right there, his wife holding their son back so he doesn’t get hurt. Savage turns and almost swings at his wife, but with the damage done, the two depart. Back to commentary, Tony says that he feels sick knowing that people like that are employed by WCW, people who fans once looked up to. Bobby says that he doesn’t know what Bonnie might have screamed at Savage to make him turn on her like he almost did, but the three agree that the KoW definitely went too far on this one, and Jesse sarcastically thanks our “clean, family friendly commissioner” for making sure that fans saw that.

Rating: B+

http://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/WCW-94/LexLuger.jpghttp://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/WCW-94/vs.jpghttp://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/WCW-94/ShanghaiPierce.jpg
“Total Package” Lex Luger vs. Shanghai Pierce

Referee: Randy Anderson

While Pierce does manage to get some offense in Luger during this match, this one is never in much doubt. “The Total Package” looks like a million bucks throughout this one, a nice little comeback match to World Championship Wrestling. Before he leaves the room, Richard still turns around and sheepishly holds out his card to Funk, who slaps it out of his hand and growls at him, causing Stevenson to run out of the room.

Rating: C+

http://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/WCW-94/WCWWorldTag.jpg
http://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/WCW-94/Hawk.jpghttp://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/WCW-94/Animal.jpghttp://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/WCW-94/WCWs/DustyRhodes.jpghttp://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/WCW-94/vs.jpghttp://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/WCW-94/RickyMorton.jpghttp://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/WCW-94/RobertGibson.jpg

WCW World Tag Team Championships

The Road Warriors w/Dusty Rhodes vs. The Rock ‘n Roll Express

Referee: Mark Curtis

Tony helpfully fills us in that Hawk and Animal were the ones who requested this match, feeling as though the RnR had embarrassed them last week by being part of the team that defeated them in the eight-man tag. Morton gets a few quick near-falls during this one, as Dusty Rhodes is distracted outside the ring as he has a discussion with a fan who’s sign says “Rock ‘n’ Roll Legion…OF DOOM!” For the most part, however, this is just like most Ricky Morton matches, only a bit more brutal due to the Road Warriors being who they are. Morton takes one hell of a beating, and sells it like he’s being tortured. “The American Outlaw” however, knows the formula all too well; and when it comes time for Morton to make his big tag out, Rhodes pulls Gibson away, leaving Ricky stranded in the ring to get lifted into the Doomsday Device and put away for the three count and successful defense. The question remains, how long will it be until Dusty’s presence gets neutralized?

Winners in 12:05 and STILL WCW World Tag Team Champions: The Road Warriors

Rating: B-

http://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/WCW-94/NickBockwinkel.jpghttp://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/WCW-94/GuardianAngel.jpghttp://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/WCW-94/WCWs/GeneOkerlund.jpg

“Mean” Gene is backstage at the interview area again, this time bringing in his guests “Guardian Angel” Bubba Rogers and WCW Commissioner Nick Bockwinkel. With that, Gordy moves aside and lets Austin walk on toward the ring. The sheer size of Rogers gives him the advantage though, making the champion backpedal from that train of thought. Instead, Steve then goes after the legs, taking his larger foe down and using leglocks and elbows to the knee. Bobby notes how this “almost is resembling a Ric Flair match, only with more middle fingers.” Rogers doesn’t take this for long, however, and before Austin does too much damage he’s back on his feet and using his size and weight advantage to keep Austin reeling from big bombs with his forearms and body. Rogers chokes Austin on the middle rope, then distracts Tommy Young for Dusty to choke him on the rope as well! Bubba then runs the ropes, jumping on Steve’s back, driving his neck onto the rope! Austin kicks out at two, and the challenger stays on him relentlessly. The focus of attack is on the back and neck, which Jesse wonders is meant to set Austin up for Gordy and his Oriental Spike tomorrow night.

After a mid-match commercial break (“tapes are rolling, fans!”) we come back to see Austin getting pounded on in the corner. Tommy Young steps in, stopping the assault and earning him some dirty looks from Bubba, but Austin quickly turns the tide, pulling Rogers into the corner and kicking him in the stomach down to the mat, before flipping him off! The crowd go crazy, especially when Dusty climbs on the apron to call foul, and he gets the middle finger treatment as well! A sign in the crowd goes up saying “The Angel is gonna get Stunned” and Austin goes for exactly that, but Rogers is able to shove the champion off into the ropes. He tries to lift him into the Bubba Slam, but Austin drives a sharp elbow down into the forehead of Rogers, making him drop him before completing the slam. Steve hits the ropes and comes back with a Lou Thesz press, before coming over with a pointed elbow to the forehead again! Rogers kicks out at two, as Dusty cheers from outside. Rogers gets to his feet and shoves Austin into the corner, but the champion moves out of the way of a charging splash, wait – kick! STUNNER! Austin hit the Stunner perfectly on Bubba, and he moves in for the cover! 1 – 2 – 3! Stunning Steve retains his championship! But with Terry Gordy and the Stud Stable breathing down his neck, has this match with “The Guardian Angel” taken its toll on Austin enough to play a factor?

Winner and STILL United States Champion in 12:16: Stunning Steve Austin

Rating: B

A video plays showing Ron Simmons getting the win last week in the triangle match. Gene talks to Ron first, who says what an honor it will be to meet such a world-renowned name in the ring tomorrow night, but even more an honor when he defeats him and takes home the World’s championship again! Hollywood scoffs, saying that Ron might have worn gold before, but that was two years ago – nobody even remembers that! He adds that none of the fans care, because that was “B.H.” times in WCW, brother; Before Hogan! Simmons says that he’s waited for this match for a long while, ever since Hogan came to WCW, because an a former All-American, he can’t wait to get into the ring with the former “real American” who told everyone to say their prayers. He says that while Hogan was “eating his special vitamins”, Ron was in the gyms, day in and day out, just waiting for the day that he gets the nod to face off with the “supposedly legendary” Hogan. Hollywood says how he’s watched Simmons run through big Bubba, and Piper, and his best friend the Butcher, and his pupil Kip last week. “Week in and week out brother, I hear them calling your name as the winner. But that is OVER now.” He says that he knows how dangerous Ron can be, but at Battlebowl, he will show Ron firsthand that there is nothing “supposed” about his legend status – meanwhile, Ron will be just another big feather in the cap of Hollywood Hogan and the Kings of Wrestling. I just wanted to chime in quickly and say that it has been a pretty long week, but I intend on getting Battlebowl done and posted either Friday or maybe Tuesday at the latest. I had no intention on it taking this long to be done, I know it's only been a week but even that long was not to be as my plan went.
