WCW WEEKLY RUMBLINGS

Extended Deals And Signings

-With Eric Bischoff now at the helm of World Championship Wrestling, everyone can expect some changes. Some of them are positive and some of them are negative. Here we can report that Terry Taylor, referee Mickey Jay, Tex Slazenger, Alex Wright, Scott Stud, The Patriot, Vader and Shanghai Pierce have all extended their deals with World Championship Wrestling. We can also add that WCW has signed former WCW/NWA wrestler Art Barr and international wrestlers Dean Malenko, Chris Benoit and Eddie Guerrero.

Tag Team Wrestling On The Rise?

-A recent interview with Eric Bischoff has him announcing that he is going to put an increased focus on tag team wrestling as part of the future of WCW. Right now, WCW has several tag teams looking to work their way up the rankings, including the team of Booker T and Stevie Ray who are known as Harlem Heat. Other teams include the Bad Attitude pairing of Bobby Eaton and Steve Keirn, the Pretty Wonderful duo of Paul Orndorff and Paul Roma, the Stars 'N' Stripes team which includes The Patriot and Marcus Bagwell and, of course, the WCW World Tag Team champions Cactus Jack and Kevin Sullivan. Rumor has it that more teams will be coming to WCW as the weeks and months push forward.

WWF Monday Night Raw Taping

-In the main event for this company, Jerry Lawler defeated Bret Hart in a 'B' rated match on the Ryland scale. The only other match on the card was Lex Luger defeating Diesel. They also had a skit involving The Undertaker and Shawn Michaels. Overall, Monday Night Raw scores a 'B' on the Ryland scale.

ECW Hardcore TV Taping

-In the main event for ECW Hardcore TV, Terry Funk teams up with Jimmy Snuka and Sabu to beat Shane Douglas, Cactus Jack and Dory Funk Jr. in a 'C+' rated match. Other matches on the card included Ron Harris defeating The Tazmaniac and Jason teaming with Bruno Sassi to beat Pitbull #1 and Chad Austin. Other moments on the card included a skit involving Stevie Richards and Rocco Rock and a backstage segment between Jimmy Snuka and Terry Funk. The show scores a 'C' on the Ryland scale.

WCW Saturday Night TV Taping

-Make sure you come tonight for the taping of WCW Saturday Night! Announced matches so far include a HUGE main event as WCW United States Champion Steve Austin teams with WCW World Heavyweight Champion Ric Flair to take on Sting and Ricky Steamboat! Plus two veterans are in the ring when Jim Duggan faces off with Ron Simmons. Also a defense of the WCW World Television Title by Lord Steven Regal. Plus more, including an appearance by one of WCW's newest signings: 'The Immortal' Hulk Hogan!

WCW World Television Title Match

Lord Steven Regal defends vs. Brad Armstrong

Referee: Brady Boone

[WCW Saturday Night begins with the entrance of Lord Steven Regal, the WCW World Television Champion. Brad Armstrong is already in the ring for this contest. The match is a lot closer than one might think, given the two wrestlers involved. Armstrong catches Regal with a Tornado DDT and scores a two count on the TV Champion! He continues to go for several pinning combinations, including a sunset flip and a schoolboy rollup. The crowd cheers on the second generation wrestler as he heads for the top turnbuckle. He leaps and Regal ducks down, avoiding the cross body block. Regal rolls up Armstrong, hooking the tights, getting a three count for the defense of his WCW World Television Title.]

Winner: Lord Steven Regal (Via Pinfall @ 7:53; Lord Steven Regal retains the WCW World Television Title)

[The cameras turned to focus on the interview area where Gene Okerlund is standing by with two men who will be teaming up later tonight in Ric Flair and Steve Austin. Flair starts out the interview, talking about his Bash At The Beach match where Hulk Hogan is going to have to walk that aisle in Ric Flair's promotion and step in the ring with the greatest wrestler who ever lived. Steve Austin says that he's not facing Hogan at Bash At The Beach. The two share a laugh but then go into their match tonight against Ricky Steamboat and Sting, stating that both men are more than prepared for this contest. Austin says that tonight is going to be stunning and that's the bottom line.]

Sgt. Craig Pittman vs. Alex Wright

Referee: Nick Patrick

[Our second match of the evening features the undefeated 'Das Wunderkind' Alex Wright against the tough Sgt. Craig Pittman. The speed of Wright is definitely a major advantage in this contest. He brings Pittman down with a missle dropkick from the top rope and then begins to dance to the delight of a few women in the crowd. Wright lifts Pittman and sends him into the corner, following him in with a clothesline and then a headscissors takedown! Wright moves quickly from this move into an STF on Pittman. Within moments, Pittman has no choice but to submit.]

[We cut from the ring to the backstage area where Brad Armstrong is shown walking down the hallway. He looks disappointed after his loss earlier tonight to Lord Steven Regal. He pauses, coming face-to-face with his brother Brian Armstrong. Brian tells Brad that he's a joke and a disgrace to the family name. He tells his brother that he needs to retire before he truly embarrasses the family name. Brad says that he's been in WCW longer than Brian. So he's learned to live with wins and losses. But next week he wants to see if his brother can live with a loss because next week he wants Brian in the ring one on one. Brian agrees and slaps Brad, shoving his brother to the ground. He snickers and walks off as Brad looks up at him.]

http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a226/shawkes/WCW_94/Jean-PaulLeacutevesque.jpg

[We cut to a video hyping the WCW arrival of Jean-Paul Levesque. The aristocrat is shown inside the ring, assaulting various wrestlers. He strikes one with a running high knee and then finishes him off with the Pedigree. Levesque looks into the camera and then bows with a flourish. Coming soon to WCW, Jean-Paul Levesque!]

The Nasty Boys vs. Arn Anderson and Dustin Rhodes

Referee: Randy Anderson

[Two top notch brawling teams step into the ring in this next bout on WCW Saturday Night. The match is a classic heel/face affair with both teams getting in their shots. The Nasty Boys hold the upper hand early on, keeping Dustin Rhodes in their corner. There was some clobbering going on in the match tonight as Rhodes got caught by both Nasty Boys. The momentum shifted when Brian Knobbs whipped Jerry Sags into the corner as Rhodes moved out of the way. Rhodes quickly makes the tag and Arn Anderson comes in, throwing punches to both Nasty Boys. The match quickly devolves into all four men doing battle. Anderson sends Sags into the ring post outside the ring, ramming him shoulder-first. He rolls Sags back into the ring and catches Sags with a Double A Spinebuster before hooking an Anderson Armbar on Sags. Sags fights the hold but eventually has no choice but to submit.]

[Arn Anderson and Dustin Rhodes pick up the victory but there is an immediate assault after the bell as Col. Robert Parker leads down Terry Funk, Bunkhouse Buck and Meng. Anderson and Rhodes fight back against The Stud Stable members but eventually the numbers game becomes too much for both of them to handle. Funk tosses Anderson over the top rope to the floor and the entire stable turn their attention to Dustin Rhodes. Meng catches Rhodes with a savate kick that brings the second generation wrestler to the mat. Funk smiles a crooked smile as he picks up Rhodes and tucks him between his legs -- Texas Piledriver! Rhodes' head is drilled into the mat. A chair comes sliding into the ring and Arn Anderson is back! Anderson swings the chair wildly, clearing the ring! Anderson stares down at The Stud Stable from the ring, meeting the eyes of Col. Robert Parker. Anderson nods very imperceptibly before he turns to check on Rhodes.]

[We move from the ring to another hype video. This one features none other than The Immortal Hulk Hogan. Hulk is standing inside a ring and begins with his usual 'let me tell you something, Hulkamaniacs.' He promises that in one week's time he is going to be inside the arena and he wants to come face-to-face with that nasty robe wearing Ric Flair. He says that the same thing is going to happen at Bash At The Beach when he steps in the ring with Ric Flair and he walks away with the WCW World title. Ric Flair will have to answer one question, brother, that is whatcha gonna do? Whatcha gonna do when the power of all these Hulkamaniacs and the largest pythons in the world runs wild over you?!?!?!]

Ron Simmons vs. Jim Duggan

Referee: Nick Patrick

[Two veterans of the ring square off in this contest that begins with a loud 'USA' chant started by the crowd and 'Hacksaw' Jim Duggan. The two men meet in the center of the ring and begin slugging it out! The crowd is quite obviously behind the man known as Hacksaw and he manages to block a punch and strike with one of his own! He sends Simmons to the mat with several punches and a clothesline. Simmons rolls out of the ring but is quick to pull Duggan outside with him, sending Duggan into the metal guardrail. Simmons flexes to boos from the crowd before the match returns to the ring. Simmons brings Duggan down in the ring with a short-arm clothesline and then plays to the booing crowd before making a cover: One, Two, Thr -- no! Duggan gets a shoulder up! The crowd gets solidly behind Duggan and he manages to turn things around, avoiding a flying shoulderblock from Simmons. Duggan brings Simmons down to the mat with a spinning scoop slam and then moves into the corner. He waits for Simmons to rise -- Running Clothesline Tackle! Duggan makes the cover: One, Two, Three!]

[We are taken to a pre-recorded interview with none other than Diamond Dallas Page and Diamond Doll. In fact, if the person who answers the challenge can beat him next week, he will give that person a night with the Diamond Doll! But he tells the Doll that she has nothing to worry about because next week they're gonna feel...the...bang!]

[We go from the pre-recorded interview to the backstage area. In this backstage area, Vader is doing battle with The Guardian Angel! Large, hard-hitting fists are thrown, knocking both men back. Harley Race tries to step in and help his man but The Guardian Angel knocks him backward. Officials and road agents step in to try to separate these two men. Finally, Nick Bockwinkel steps into the area, breaking the two men apart. Bockwinkel tells them that if they still want to fight, they can take it out to the ring right now!]

Vader vs. The Guardian Angel

Referee: Mickey Jay

[The crowd was shocked and excited to see both of these men stepping into the ring here on WCW Saturday Night one on one! This match is a definite showcase of the art of fighting. Not a whole lot of catch-as-catch can wrestling going on between these two large heavyweights. The Guardian Angel takes control midway through the match and strikes Vader in the corner with a corner splash. Harley Race tries to yell instructions from ringside as The Guardian Angel chokes Vader on the second rope. The Guardian Angel bounces off the ropes and then slides underneath, tossing a punch to the big man. The Guardian Angel slides in the ring and makes a cover, hooking a leg: One, Two, Kickout! The Guardian Angel continues his control until a distraction comes from Harley Race. This distraction leads to a lariat from Vader out of nowhere, bringing The Guardian Angel to the mat. Vader hooks The Guardian Angel between his legs -- Powerbomb! The Guardian Angel is laid out in the center of the ring. Vader makes the cover: One, Two, Three!]

Winner: Vader (Via Pinfall @ 9:46)

[The bell sounds and referee Mickey Jay is thrown out of the ring by Harley Race. Race begins shouting instructions to Vader. Vader picks up The Guardian Angel and tosses him outside the ring. The Man They Call Vader yells at the crowd as he exits the ring and then begins pulling the mats up, revealing the concrete below. The crowd is in shock as Vader yanks The Guardian Angel in between his legs -- Release Powerbomb on the concrete! The crowd boos loudly as The Guardian Angel is NOT moving at all! Vader and Harley Race stand over the fallen body of The Guardian Angel. EMTs come running in to check on the man called Ray Traylor by the announcers. A stretcher is brought out as we move away while Ray Traylor is being placed on the stretcher.]

[Where we are taken backstage to is a hallway where the WCW World Tag Team Champions Cactus Jack and Kevin Sullivan are shown, discussing their upcoming title defenses. Two hand mirrors are shattered over the skulls of the champs by Paul Orndorff and Paul Roma! The crowd boos in the background as the team known as Pretty Wonderful put the boots to Jack and Sullivan. Orndorff runs Jack into the wall and Roma body slams Sullivan on the floor. The tag champs cry out in pain and Pretty Wonderful flex above them as we head to a pre-recorded interview.]

Ric Flair and Steve Austin vs. Sting and Ricky Steamboat

Referee: Nick Patrick

[Our main event this week and this is a good one as four veteran wrestlers go at it in tag team action. Sting and Steamboat start things off quickly with stereo dropkicks on Flair and Austin that send both of them outside the ring. Quick tags are made by Sting and Steamboat early on until Sting gets caught in the wrong corner by Flair and Austin. Then the beat-down ensues with Flair and Austin making their own quick tags, focusing on the left knee of the man called Sting. Flair and Austin send Sting outside the ring, ramming his knee against the guardrail. Flair distracts the referee, allowing Austin to send Sting against the ring post and then roll him back in the ring. Flair makes a quick cover: One, Two, Shoulder Up! Flair bounces off the ropes -- diving knee drop! The crowd boos loudly as Flair struts across the ring. Within a few minutes, Flair would NOT be strutting as he tries to whip Sting into the corner but Sting reverses and Flair goes flipping over the turnbuckles. Sting catches Flair with a clothesline, knocking him to the apron. Both men crawl toward their corners and tags are made on both sides.]

[steamboat comes in with chops and clotheslines both Austin and Flair. He takes down Flair with a headscissors takedown. A dropkick sends Austin down to the mat. Sting enters the ring and goes after Flair. Austin catches Steamboat with a clothesline, sending him over the top rope. Steamboat catches the top rope, skinning the cat as Austin hits Sting from behind. Steamboat pulls himself back into the ring and charges the three men, catching a back elbow from Austin. Referee Nick Patrick grabs Sting, pulling him toward his own corner. Austin pulls out a pair of brass knuckles from his trunks and strikes Ricky Steamboat behind the referee's back! The crowd boos as Austin makes the cover, rolling up Steamboat. He places his feet on the ropes: One, Two, Three!]

[The bell sounds and referee Nick Patrick is tossed out of the ring by Ric Flair! That will cost him! Sting comes in the ring and is met by Flair and a low blow that brings him down to the mat beside Ricky Steamboat. Steve Austin hooks on 'That's A Wrap' on Steamboat and Flair hooks the Figure 4 Leglock on Sting! The crowd boos, chanting for Hogan to come out and make the save but he is not in the building. The show ends with the release of the two holds and the two Champions standing side by side.]

No matter how many of these pop up, I'm always interested.

I definitely appreciate the interest. I know that I've had one in particular of this era already but I have some definite plans for this one that I plan to stick to.

I love this era, and have tried many a dynasty in it myself.

This is definitely a great era in professional wrestling. WCW is just slowly starting to shine with the possibility to step things up under the leadership of 'Eric Bischoff.'

I'm excited to see what you have in store in your version of 1994 WCW!

I just hope that my diary can come close to competing with yours, Beejus. Yours is an excellent read. For anyone who wants to check it out, go here: WCW '94: War of the Thrones

Comment: Steamboat is probably getting his US title match at Fall Brawl, I'm guessing?

Steamboat is getting the shot at Bash At The Beach at the U.S. title against Steve Austin.

The fan sign made me chuckle. Great job there! Thanks again for the predictions!

Next Show!

As far as the next show goes, I am hoping to have it within a couple of days, if not earlier. I decided that I didn't like the format of the first show so I am having to make some changes to the formatting of it.

Lord Steven Regal© defends vs. Joey Maggs

The show opens for the second week with the arrival of WCW World Television Champion Lord Steven Regal. 'Jumping' Joey Maggs is standing inside the ring and gets a light ovation from the crowd when he is announced as the opponent. The announcers spend much of the match discussing the impending arrival of Hulk Hogan to the Orlando Arena. The match is a lot closer than one might have originally thought going into the battle as Joey Maggs scores on several near falls, nearly coming away with the TV title. Referee Brady Boone pulls Maggs off Regal late in the contest, warning him about hitting Regal in the corner. Regal strikes Maggs with a low blow as Maggs argues with the referee. Regal rolls up Maggs and referee Brady Boone makes the count: onetwothree!

Jean-Paul Levesque

We go from inside the ring to a hype video, promoting the soon-to-debut Jean-Paul Levesque. Levesque is shown living the high life, paying for a pack of gum with a one hundred dollar bill and dancing with beautiful women. `At the end of the dance, we are taken to a ring and shown Jean-Paul Levesque in the ring with a random wrestler, striking with a running high knee and then a Pedigree. Jean-Paul Levesque is coming soon to WCW!

Diamond Doll Challenge

We come back to ringside and the arrival of Diamond Dallas Page and Diamond Doll. The crowd boos as these two walk down to the ring. Page has the Diamond Doll hold open the ropes for him and he steps inside the ring. He has a microphone in hand.

Diamond Dallas Page: "Hey all you idiots here in Orlando, it's me, it's me, it's D D P. Tonight opens up the Diamond Doll Challenge. So, let's get the first victim out here to feel the bang!"

DDP leans against a ring post, waiting for his opponent to arrive.

Diamond Dallas Page vs. Erik Watts

The mystery man that comes out to accept this challenge is none other than Erik Watts. Page points and laughs for a moment and then slaps Watts, leading to Watts throwing punches, knocking DDP down to the mat. Watts tries to get the crowd going but the crowd response to this match is nearly non-existent. DDP quickly comes back and dominates for the majority of the near six minutes of this match. He catches Watts with the Diamond Clash for a two count. He gives himself a self high five and then tells the Diamond Doll to watch this. He comes back to Watts and waits -- Diamond Cutter! Watts is down and out and DDP makes an arrogant cover: One, Two, Three!

This Is...Vader!

After the ring is cleared, the fans stand up and boo when the music plays for the man they call Vader. Harley Race leads Vader down to the ring, threatening a few fans along the way. The two men enter the ring and Race has a microphone in hand.

Harley Race: "Last week, this man proved that he can destroy any man both in and outside of the ring. As we all know, you won't be seeing The Guardian Angel back in a WCW ring in a very long time. But here is a man who you will be seeing in a WCW ring time and time again. There is no one here in WCW that can beat him. There is no one tougher than my man Vader. No one!"

http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a226/shawkes/WCW_94/JimDuggan.jpg

Harley Race gets interrupted by some familiar music. Out from the back, with 2X4 in hand, comes 'Hacksaw' Jim Duggan! Duggan has eyes for Vader as he stomps down toward the ring, sliding in underneath the bottom rope. Harley Race steps in between Duggan and Vader as Duggan gets a 'USA' chant going. Race shakes his head as Duggan raises the 2X4. Race holds his client back, pushing Vader out of the ring.

Brian Armstrong vs. Brad Armstrong

This fight is more reminiscent of Cain versus Abel than a perfect example of brotherly love between these two brothers. The contest is back and forth with both men having long stretches of advantage over the other one. Late in the match, Brad goes for the side Russian Legsweep but Brian blocks it and throws elbows, striking the skull of his brother. Brad bounces off the ropes and goes for a sunset flip but Brian sits down. Brian grabs the top rope for leverage as the referee makes the count: One, Two, Three!

Pearl Harbor Job

We move from the ring to the backstage area where we come across the WCW World Heavyweight Champion Ric Flair. The Nature Boy comes across the catering table and picks up a strawberry. A smirk slides across his lips when he looks up and sees an old nemesis nearby. Flair walks toward Ricky Steamboat. Steamboat looks up and goes eye to eye with the Champ.

Ric Flair: "I am a little surprised at you, Ricky. You've been here for how long now? Years? And yet you allow some new guy like Hulk Hogan to take your spot?"

Ricky Steamboat: "It's not my choice, Ric. I'll get my shot. I've got to be prepared for Steve Austin at the Bash."

Ric Flair: "Prepared for who?"

As Flair keeps Steamboat distracted, Steve Austin sneaks up behind The Dragon. Austin strikes Steamboat from behind with the U.S. title belt. Steamboat falls forward into the catering table and Austin grabs him from behind, slamming him into a bowl of mixed fruit. The fruit goes flying and Steamboat goes to the floor, leaving Austin above him to stomp on him again and again. Austin slowly looks up toward Flair and the two exchange a nod before Flair walks away. This leaves a question of whether Steamboat will be ready to go later on tonight.

Pretty Wonderful

We go from this backstage area to the interview area near ringside where Gene Okerlund stands by with Paul Roma and Paul Orndorff, who are spending more time looking into hand-mirrors than focusing on the interview.

Gene Okerlund: "What a wild and interesting night that we have had this evening with more to come. Before I get into this interview, let me remind you to call the WCW Hotline. You get exclusives that you won't get anywhere else regarding the world of professional wrestling. Now, I am standing here with the #1 contenders to the WCW World Tag Team Champions in the team known as Pretty Wonderful. Gentlemen, you will be taking on the winners of our next match at Bash At The Beach. Do you have a preference?"

Paul Orndorff: "Do we have a preference, Gene Okerlund? The question is do we want to beat tag team #1 or tag team #2. We are better than anybody else in this business. We are a finely tuned tag team machine. It doesn't matter if we beat trailer park trash #1 or trailer park trash #2. Enlighten them, Pretty Paul."

Paul Roma: "It makes me sad that people just cannot be as good looking as the two of us, Mr. Wonderful. But the fact is that both of these teams are like every single one of you WCW fans. You guys are jokes and at the end of the day we're still going to be Pretty Wonderful."

Gene Okerlund: "Alright, Gentlemen, let's head down to the ring for our next matchup."

Cactus Jack and Kevin Sullivan© defend vs. The Nasty Boys

Our next title match this evening has two teams vying for the WCW World Tag Team Titles. The Nasty Boys argue with a fan at ringside as they walk down to the ring. The fan has a sign reading: 'Why did TMNT kick the Nasty Boys out of their sewer?!' The match is a pure brawl between both of these teams who barely have a wrestling move between the four of them. Sullivan gets trapped in the corner of The Nasty Boys and gets double-teamed several times by the more experienced tag team in this match. Brian Knobbs gets a near fall following a running powerslam. A distraction comes from Dave Sullivan at ringside and this allows his 'brother' to tag in Cactus Jack. Jack goes after both members of The Nasty Boys, including sending both himself and Sags over the top rope with a Cactus Clothesline! When the action returns to the ring, Jack strikes Sags with a kick to the gut and then a Double Arm DDT! He makes the cover: One, Two, Three!

Seeking An Advantage

As the bell sounds for this victory for the WCW World Tag Team Champions, Pretty Wonderful come running down to the ring and slide inside. Dave Sullivan is knocked to ringside as Paul Roma assaults Cactus Jack and Paul Orndorff assaults Kevin Sullivan. Orndorff sends Sullivan flying with a release German Suplex. Sullivan lands at ringside. Orndorff comes over where Roma is battling with Jack and rakes Jack in the eyes. He grabs Jack and hooks him between his legs as Roma ascends to the second turnbuckle -- Spiked Piledriver! Jack is down and hurting! Orndorff and Roma stand tall, fixing their hair before they exit the ring.

Old School Brawl

When we move from the ringside area to the backstage area, it's to pick up a brawl occurring in this area. On one side, you have Arn Anderson and Dustin Rhodes. On the other side, you have Terry Funk, Bunkhouse Buck, Meng and even Col. Robert Parker getting physically involved. The numbers game begins to overwhelm the team of Anderson and Rhodes. Meng strikes Anderson with a savate kick that sends Anderson to the ground. This leads to a four on one assault on Dustin Rhodes as Anderson was seemingly knocked unconscious. The assault leaves Rhodes a bloody mess on the floor. In the end, Anderson seemingly comes to and crawls over on top of Rhodes, covering him as the assault ends with The Stud Stable walking away.

Ric Flair vs. Terry Taylor

This is the surprising match of the night in a match that was challenged for last week on WCW Main Event. This is an almost technical classic between these two wrestlers, who went back and forth for nearly twelve minutes of action. Flair used a lot of his signature moves, including the knife-edge chop and a diving kneedrop. Taylor showed some resourcefulness, going for a sunset flip and then twisting Flair into a boston crab. Flair struggles in the hold, finally managing to push Taylor off, sending him knee-first into the turnbuckle. Taylor grabs his knee in pain and this sends Flair into a fury, working the knee of Taylor's. As Flair stomps the knee of Taylor, he points and yells at a fan who is holding up a sign reading: 'A Flair for the OLD!' Flair slides Taylor into the Figure 4 Leglock and within moments Taylor calls for the submission.

Submission Not Released

The bell sounds but Ric Flair does not release the submission hold on Terry Taylor. Referee Tommy Young yells at Flair to break the hold but the WCW World Heavyweight Champion defiantly grabs the top rope to put even more pressure on Taylor's knees. Flair yells at Taylor to never challenge him again. Wrestlers come spilling in from the back and eventually the mass of bodies break the hold, leaving Taylor lying in pain and Flair strutting.

Surprise Assault...Approved By The Body

We move from the ring area to the backstage area once again. This time, we find Sting walking to his car in the parking garage. Sting pauses by a car and gets thrown against the trunk by Chris Benoit and Dean Malenko! The crowd boos in the background as Benoit and Malenko work over the surprised WCW Franchise. They bring him to the ground and Malenko hooks on the Texas Cloverleaf. Benoit locks on the Crippler Crossface! Sting cries out in pain, calling for help but no one is there to help him as many of the wrestlers were in the ring. The camera pans back to reveal the mastermind of this assault.

http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a226/shawkes/WCW_94/JesseVentura.jpg

Jesse Ventura! The Body gives a look toward Benoit and Malenko, watching as the two work their submission holds on Sting. Ventura taps Malenko on the shoulder and he releases his hold. Ventura does the same for Benoit and the hold is released. Ventura gives a nod and the three men walk away, leaving Sting writhing on the ground in pain.

Terry Funk vs. Ricky Steamboat

Our main event contest featuring two veterans of the WCW ring. The only problem is that Steamboat barely makes it down to the ring due to the assault that Steve Austin gave him earlier tonight. Funk goes right after Steamboat early in the match, focusing on his neck and back area. Funk drops Steamboat early on in the match with a Brainbuster, sliding on top and hooking the leg: One, Two, Shoulder Up!

Tony Schiavone: "Terry Funk nearly got the victory there! Wait a second, what is Col. Robert Parker doing?"

In response to Tony Schiavone's words, Funk has tossed Steamboat outside the ring where Robert Parker is stomping away on The Dragon. Parker sends The Dragon into the ring post and steps away as the referee turns back to look. He begins the countout outside the ring and Steamboat barely makes it back in before the ten count. The momentum shifts when Funk goes for the Texas Piledriver but Steamboat lifts him up and over in a back body drop. Steamboat has the crowd solidly behind him as Steve Austin shows up at ringside. Steamboat comes back with punches and a clothesline to Funk. The Dragon lifts Funk in a chicken wing! Funk shakes his head, refusing to submit. Steve Austin slides into the ring, holding his belt up high. The crowd tries to warn Steamboat but he gets caught from behind with a belt shot. The referee immediately calls for the bell.

Never Give Up

The crowd boos as Ricky Steamboat is laid out from the belt shot by Steve Austin. Austin throws stomps down on the fallen body of Steamboat. He drops an elbow and then hooks his legs -- That's A Wrap! The modified Figure 4 Leglock is locked on tight and Steamboat calls out a submission again and again. Austin just laughs and smiles down at Steamboat. He points to The Dragon and then releases the hold. He raises the U.S. title belt high in the air, standing over the fallen frame of Ricky Steamboat.

http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a226/shawkes/WCW_94/HulkHogan.jpg

American Made

After the ring clears, the crowd stands on their feet awaiting the arrival of one of WCW's newest signings. The opening tunes to 'American Made' play over the P.A. system and the crowd goes absolutely wild. Fans run to and flock to the guardrail, waiting to get a glimpse of one of the most famous pro wrestlers of all-time. Out from the back comes none other than Hulk Hogan! The man known as The Immortal gives high fives and shakes hands with children who are standing against the guardrail. Then he enters the ring and poses as the chants of 'Hogan, Hogan, Hogan' fill the arena in Orlando, Florida. Hogan flexes his muscles before he is given a microphone.

Hulk Hogan: "What a great reception from all of you Hulkamaniacs here in Orlando, Florida! It is great to be here in World Championship Wrestling where all the big boys play, brother! I want you all to know that we are headed right up to the stratosphere, dudes! We're bringing WCW right to the top! And that begins in just a little over a week at Bash At The Beach when I step into the ring with Ric Flair. Brother, I am coming right to the top for that WCW World Heavyweight title."

http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a226/shawkes/WCW_94/RicFlair.jpg

Hogan's words are interrupted by the sounds of '2001: A Space Odyssey!' Hogan smirks for a moment as out from the back walks the WCW World Heavyweight Champion Ric Flair. The Nature Boy is dressed in a robe with the belt around his waist. He takes in the boos that echo throughout the arena as he walks down to the ring. He pauses in front of a fan with a sign reading: 'I came here for Flair!' He poses for a moment before continuing down to the ring. He steps up the stairs and then inside the ring, giving a strut across from one end to the other before he gets right up in Hogan's face, releasing a 'Whoooooo.'

Ric Flair: "The great and powerful Hulk Hogan in a WCW ring. Should we be honored down here in the south east, Hulk? The honor that everyone has in this arena at your presence is only trumped by the honor they have at seeing the WCW World Heavyweight Champion in this ring."

Hulk Hogan: "Look, brother, I think that I can speak for all these Hulkamaniacs in the audience when I tell you that they are not honored to be in your presence. As a matter of fact, what are you doing here, Ric? This is my time."

Ric Flair: "It might be your time but this is MY ring, Hulk. You walked down MY aisle. You are in MY company. I am the cock of the walk around here. I am the Nature Boy. Whoooooo. But you can have your time tonight. I'll see you at the Bash."

Flair turns to leave but then turns and throws punches to Hogan's face! He knocks the surprised Hogan backward into the turnbuckle and throws chops to his chest. Hogan ignores the pain of the chops, flexing for Flair. Flair backs up and drops to his knees, begging off. Hogan grabs Flair by the hair and throws a few punches, whipping him to the ropes. Flair grabs the ropes and exits the ring quickly, stepping backward. Hogan flexes in the ring, taunting Flair from inside as the show comes to a close. We'll see you tomorrow for the Main Event!

WCW Saturday Night Prediction Listing

WCW World Television Title Match

10 Minute Time Limit

Lord Steven Regal defends vs. Johnny B. Badd

Comment: This is typically a good match, but if it doesn't go to Regal then it's going time limit for sure.

Diamond Doll Challenge

If Diamond Dallas Page Loses, The Winner Gets A Night With The Diamond Doll

Diamond Dallas Page vs. ???

Comment: I think this could possibly hold off til either Bash or Fall Brawl to see Page lose.

Pretty Wonderful vs. Art Barr and Eddie Guerrero

Comment: PW are the number one contenders, and while this will prove a good showing, Barr and Eddy will wait their time.

Dean Malenko vs. Sting

Comment: Sting is still Sting, Jesse will have to find a bigger gun to be able to take him down right now.

Non Title

Steve Austin vs. Dustin Rhodes

Comment: I'm curious to find out how this match will rate out, if it's good then I'll use it in my game :p

Comments On Previous Show:

Interesting to see the segment with Flair and Steamboat. I'm sure at the moment it was just a quick nod to their long-time rivalry and Flair just distracting Ricky for Austin to attack, but on the other hand, why the attack from Austin thanks to Flair? Or am I reading too far into subtext?

I like the idea of Ventura as a manager, as it phases him slightly out of commentary so that Heenan can work that role.

You write Flair dialogue very, very well.

Lord Steven Regal - Just can't see him losing the belt to Badd.

Diamond Dallas Page

Pretty Wonderful - Still not the time for Barr and Eddie.

Sting

Steve Austin - Personal prediction here. I would build Austin up.

Fun Fan Signs: Tutti Frutti on TV!

Comments on previous show: Great show. I particularly enjoyed the closing segment of Hogan and Flair. You're doing a great job with the feud. Congratulations. :)

WCW World Television Title Match

10 Minute Time Limit

Lord Steven Regal defends vs. Johnny B. Badd

Comment: I don't see Regal dropping the title here.

Diamond Doll Challenge

If Diamond Dallas Page Loses, The Winner Gets A Night With The Diamond Doll

Diamond Dallas Page vs. ???

Comment: I don't see DDP losing here.

Pretty Wonderful vs. Art Barr and Eddie Guerrero

Comment: Eddie and Art was good tag team but it's not their time yet.

Dean Malenko vs. Sting

Comment: I have idea what you might be doing with Sting here. So I doubt he will lose maybe win on DQ though.

Non Title

Steve Austin vs. Dustin Rhodes

Comment: Time limit draw. I can't decide who wins here. Both guys had wins over the other in real life during this time. If you run this dynasty for a extended time I see both men in your main event and this could go down as one of the best feuds of all time. Or it could flop like when I did Terry Funk and Dusty Rhodes and they had horrible chemistry. I almost cried when that happened.

Fun Fan Signs: Pretty Wonderful more like Pretty Awful

Comments On Previous Show Good show. Interesting on the Armstrong feud. I never saw Kevin Sullivan as a good guy. Didn't see Malenko and Benoit attacking Sting.

That In Your House card is absolutely absurd.

I agree about that 'In Your House' card that the 'WWF' put on. The Barbarian in the main event? Receiving an 'A?' That was absolutely crazy.

You will find out more about the whole Flair/Steamboat thing on this upcoming show. I am glad that you enjoy my use of Jesse Ventura as manager and my Flair dialogue. I always enjoy writing for Flair as he is my favorite wrestler of all-time. :)

Comments on previous show: Great show. I particularly enjoyed the closing segment of Hogan and Flair. You're doing a great job with the feud. Congratulations. :)

Thank you for your comments on the show. Glad you're enjoying the Hogan/Flair feud since it is the top feud of the show so far. :) I really enjoyed writing the ending segment as well.

Comments On Previous Show Good show. Interesting on the Armstrong feud. I never saw Kevin Sullivan as a good guy. Didn't see Malenko and Benoit attacking Sting.

Am glad you're enjoying the Armstrong feud. I knew that it was something different that a lot of people were not doing.

Kevin Sullivan is definitely not generally a good guy. It is a little more difficult to write for him in that respect but it is something a little different that WCW tried to do at this point.

Update On The Card

My birthday was yesterday and for my birthday I and my family went on vacation last week so I haven't been able to work on getting the card up and running as of yet. In fact, I didn't even turn my computer on during the whole vacation. But I am planning on having the card written up within the next few days and posted. Thank you for sticking with me and predicting.

Badd</span></strong></p><p> An average match to kick things off on WCW Saturday Night. A lot of the time within this match was spent talking about the brand new main event lined up for tonight. Regal has been having some help lately from referee Brady Boone and this match is no exception. When Badd has the control, Brady Boone is strict on the rules. When Regal is in control, Boone seems to turn a blind eye toward the cheating of the Lord. Despite this, Badd gains some control on Regal. He catches Regal with a vertical suplex and then heads to the top turnbuckle as a fan holds up a sign reading: 'Tutti Frutti on TV!' As he is on the turnbuckle, he is distracted by referee Brady Boone, yelling at him to get down. The argument gives Regal a chance to recover and Badd gets crotched on the turnbuckle. Regal shoves Badd back down to the mat and rolls him up, placing his feet on the ropes. Boone drops down quickly: OneTwoThree!</p><p> <strong><span style="text-decoration:underline;">Lord Steven Regal p. Johnny B. Badd argues with the official, we move from the ringside area to a hype video representing a brand new wrestler here in WCW. That brand new wrestler is <strong>Jean-Paul Levesque</strong>. Levesque is shown, much as he has been shown in previous videos. He is wrestling in different rings, attacking and destroying every wrestler that is put in the ring with him. He takes down a generic wrestler with a running high knee and then bows in the ring. Then he is shown striking that same young wrestler with the Pedigree. A graphic on the screen explains that the arrival of Jean-Paul Levesque will come next week right here on WCW Saturday Night.</p><p> </p><p> </p><div style="text-align:center;"><span>http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a226/shawkes/WCW_94/Banner_WCW.jpg</span><p> </p><p> <span>http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a226/shawkes/WCW_94/DDP.jpg</span><span>http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a226/shawkes/WCW_94/KimberlyPage.jpg</span></p></div><p></p><p></p><p> <strong><span style="color:#0000FF;"><span style="text-decoration:underline;">Diamond Doll Challenge</span></span></strong></p><p> We go from the hype video to the ring where <strong>Diamond Dallas Page</strong> and <strong>Diamond Doll</strong> are standing in the ring. Once the move is complete and Dave is not even moving, Pretty Wonderful run off-camera. Within thirty seconds, Kevin and Cactus show up. This is a solid back-and-forth match between these two men where Sting makes the newcomer Malenko look like a million bucks. Malenko scores a near-submission with a single leg boston crab but Sting is able to make it to the ropes to force the break. During the match, Chris Benoit comes down to the ring to join his partner. The crowd gets behind Sting and the momentum is shifted when Malenko lifts Sting on his shoulders. Sting wiggles free and shoves Malenko into a corner. Sting rushes in -- Stinger Splash! Malenko takes two steps forward and looks out on his feet. Sting strikes with a dropkick and then makes the cover: One, Two, Chris Benoit comes flying off the top turnbuckle with a diving headbutt to break the count! It strikes Sting in the back and referee David Manning calls for the bell.</p><p> <strong><span style="text-decoration:underline;">Sting d. The two men join together in putting the boots to Sting as <strong>Jesse Ventura</strong> climbs in the ring to join them. Ventura leads his two men with instructions as Benoit puts Sting in a Crossface and Malenko hooks on the Texas Cloverleaf. They did this move last week in a parking lot on the Stinger. The crowd boos, looking for anyone to step up to the side of the man called Sting.</p><p> </p><p> </p><div style="text-align:right;"><span>http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a226/shawkes/WCW_94/RickMartel.jpg</span></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p> They get this when, much to the shock of the announcers and fans alike, out comes <strong>Rick Martel</strong>! Martel hits the ring and throws punches to Benoit and Malenko, knocking them both backward. A double clothesline over the top rope sends Benoit and Malenko to the ringside area where Jesse Ventura has already stepped down to join them. Martel reaches down to help Sting to his feet and the two men shake hands! Sting asks for a microphone and is given one.</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Sting:</strong> <span style="color:#FF0000;"><span style="font-family:'CENTURY GOTHIC';">"Surprise, surprise, surprise guys! The two Texans go back and forth in the early going until Rhodes knocks Austin to the ringside area following a solid punch. Austin gets Rhodes to follow him outside the ring and Arn Anderson shakes his head at ringside as Rhodes is tossed into the ring post by the Stunning one. Austin slides back in the ring and begins making like he is filming the match to boos from the crowd. One of these fans holds up a sign reading: 'Naturally Stunning!' The excitement level turns up a notch late in the match when the members of The Stud Stable come down to ringside and a brawl erupts between them and Arn Anderson at ringside. Col. Robert Parker distracts the officials as Rhodes sets up Austin for a running bulldog in the ring. Terry Funk climbs on the apron, distracting Rhodes from finishing the move. Arn Anderson manages to climb on the apron and swings a punch toward Funk but Funk ducks and Anderson connects with Rhodes! Funk brings Anderson off the apron and Austin hooks on 'That's A Wrap' on Rhodes. Within moments, Rhodes is forced to submit.</p><p> <strong><span style="text-decoration:underline;">Steve Austin d. Robert Parker</strong>, <strong>Terry Funk</strong>, <strong>Bunkhouse Buck</strong> and <strong>Meng</strong> enter the ring! The assault is quick and strong on <strong>Dustin Rhodes</strong> with Funk and Buck dropping him with a double Superplex. Funk hooks on the Funk Spinning Toe Hold for about thirty seconds before <strong>Arn Anderson</strong> enters the ring swinging a steel chair! Buck takes a shot to the skull but then Meng punches his way through the chair, striking Anderson with the chair and his fist. Anderson goes down hard and Meng stands strong beside Col. Robert Parker and Terry Funk.</p><p> </p><p> </p><div style="text-align:center;"><span>http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a226/shawkes/WCW_94/Banner_WCW.jpg</span></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p> <strong>Match 6: </strong><strong><span style="color:#0000FF;">Non Title</span></strong></p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="36189" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><div style="text-align:center;"><span>http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a226/shawkes/WCW_94/RicFlair.jpg</span><span>http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a226/shawkes/WCW_94/VS.jpg</span><span>http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a226/shawkes/WCW_94/RickySteamboat.jpg</span><p> <span>http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a226/shawkes/WCW_94/TommyYoung.jpg</span></p></div><p></p><p></p><p> <strong><span style="text-decoration:underline;">Ric Flair vs. Ricky Steamboat</span></strong></p><p> Our main event is a classic match that features great action and a good crowd that is hot to see these two men battle back and forth. Flair uses a lot of his old tricks in the early going of the match, using the ropes to keep Steamboat away and even striking The Dragon with a low blow. As always, chops and chop blocks are the course of action for the WCW World Heavyweight Champion as he takes control during the match. Flair lays Steamboat's leg across the bottom rope and then lands across it, causing Steamboat to cry out in pain. Flair picks up Steamboat and rakes his eyes across the top rope before laying into him with chops in the corner. Steamboat fires back with chops of his own and a double clothesline sends both men to the mat.</p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> <strong>Tony Schiavone:</strong> <span style="color:#FF0000;"><span style="font-family:'CENTURY GOTHIC';">"Both of these two top wrestlers are down in what has been the best main event this year for WCW Saturday Night! Wait a second, what is Steve Austin doing down here?!"</span></span></p><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="36189" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div>As mentioned by Tony Schiavone, Steve Austin walks down to ringside, making like he is filming the contest. Both men are slow to get to their feet. They exchange chops back and forth with Steamboat finally pushing Flair back into a corner. Steamboat whips Flair across the ring and Flair flips over the top turnbuckle, landing on his feet on the apron. He rushes across the ring and climbs the turnbuckle -- slammed down by Steamboat. Steamboat has the crowd behind him and he goes for the Chicken Wing on Flair. Austin immediately jumps on the apron, distracting both the official and Steamboat. Steamboat releases Flair and approaches Austin. The two get into an argument with the referee trying to separate them. No one sees Flair getting to his feet behind the scene. Flair comes rushing over just as Steamboat ducks down and Austin strikes Flair accidentally! Austin's eyes go wide and Steamboat clotheslines Austin. The WCW United States Champion falls off the apron and Steamboat climbs the turnbuckles. Flair slowly gets to his feet using the ropes -- Flying Crossbody Press! Steamboat hooks the leg: One, Two, Three!<p> <strong><span style="text-decoration:underline;">Ricky Steamboat p. The Dragon is slow to get to his feet, getting his hand raised. This distraction is enough for <strong>Steve Austin</strong> to slide in the ring and assault Steamboat from behind. Austin goes right for the leg that Flair injured earlier in the match. Austin hooks in 'That's A Wrap!' The crowd boos as Steamboat is in immense pain. <strong>Ric Flair</strong> slowly gets up and begins putting boots to Steamboat in anger and embarrassment from the loss. The crowd begins chanting 'Hogan, Hogan, Hogan!' Suddenly, 'American Made' begins to play.</p><p> </p><p> </p><div style="text-align:right;"><span>http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a226/shawkes/WCW_94/HulkHogan.jpg</span></div><p></p><p></p><p> Out from the back comes <strong>Hulk Hogan</strong> right on cue! The crowd goes wild as Hogan slides in the ring, throwing clotheslines to Austin and Flair. Austin rolls out of the ring quickly, grabbing his U.S. title belt. Flair begs off in the ring for a moment and Hogan gets the crowd pumped. Hogan throws three punches to Flair and then whips him to the ropes -- Flair grabs the ropes and exits the ring quickly. The Nature Boy looks up toward the ring, shaking his head. These two men meet in the ring tomorrow at WCW Bash At The Beach! We'll see you there!</p>

Steve Austin© defends vs. Ricky Steamboat

Bash At The Beach begins this evening with the entrance of 'The Dragon' and a large crowd reaction positively toward him and a negative reaction to the entrance of the WCW United States Champion 'Stunning' Steve Austin. Though one fan holds up a sign reading: 'Camera Reel!' during the entrance of Austin. Austin just laughs and sneers at the fan before he enters the ring. The great action goes back and forth between these two top technical wrestlers, including several armdrags and dropkicks by Steamboat, keeping Austin off his feet. Austin reverses momentum when Steamboat misses a dropkick and the champ takes control. Austin brings Steamboat to the mat and then climbs to the second rope -- elbow drop to Steamboat. Austin makes the cover: One, Two, Kickout! The crowd gets solidly behind Steamboat as Austin locks in a sleeperhold. Within moments, the sleeperhold is reversed into a back suplex, with both men down on the mat. Both men are slow to get to their feet but exchange punches when they are both up. Steamboat dodges a punch and hits a chop. Three more chops sends Austin to the mat. Steamboat climbs the turnbuckle but Austin rolls outside the ring, grabbing the WCW U.S. title belt. Steamboat drops down on the apron, yelling at Austin. Austin comes over and smacks Steamboat with the belt! Referee Tommy Young calls for an immediate disqualification!

Hollywood Black And Blue?

Steve Austin rolls Ricky Steamboat back inside the ring and joins him inside. Austin begins stomping all over the body and head of the fallen Dragon. Steamboat tries to cover up but Austin is all over him. He grabs the leg of Steamboat and hooks in 'That's A Wrap!' The modified Figure 4 Leglock has the crowd booing as Steamboat tries to work his way free of the hold. The fans do not know how to respond when someone comes out from the back! Flyin' Brian makes a beeline for the ring and slides inside. Austin releases the hold and comes face to face with Pillman. Pillman takes Austin down with a double leg and punches are thrown! Austin fires back! The two men roll on the mat and referees spill from the back to break up these two men.

Hyping The Next Match

A video begins to play showing some of the history of the attacks by the man they call Vader. This man took The Guardian Angel and power bombed him on the concrete. We still haven't seen The Guardian Angel since that moment. Stepping in for The Guardian Angel has been 'Hacksaw' Jim Duggan! This will be the first time that these two men meet in a singles match.

Match 2: Revenge Match

Vader w/Harley Race vs. Jim Duggan

If you are looking for some of the technical expertise like we saw in the previous match then you've come to the wrong place. This one is definitely brutal and sees blood come down the faces of both men. The two men went back and forth both in and outside the ring with the fans clearly behind 'Hacksaw.' Duggan hits Vader with a powerslam, scoring a two count midway through the match. As Duggan gets to his feet, a sign is shown in the background: 'I'm a Race-ist!' Duggan maintains control late in the match but that is when the interference of Harley Race came into play. Race distracts Duggan as he is preparing for his Running Tackle. As Duggan turns back to Vader, he is struck with a punch to the gut. Vader hooks Duggan between his legs and then lifts him up -- Power Bomb! Duggan is laid out on the mat as Vader makes the cover, snarling directly toward a sign that reads: 'Vader ate my sandwich!': One, Two, Three!

Armstrong Feud Continues

We move from the ring to the backstage area where we spy WCW veteran Brad Armstrong walking along a hallway. He turns a corner and comes face to face with his brother Brian Armstrong.

Brad Armstrong: "Brian, you never returned my phone calls."

Brian Armstrong: "I don't talk to losers. Even losers that are still in my family bringing down the Armstrong name."

Brad Armstrong: "YOU brought the Armstrong name down the moment you cheated in our match. And where did it get you, Brian? Nowhere. You don't even have a match on this pay-per-view. Why don't we let bygones be bygones and return as a tag team? You are still my brother."

Brad offers his hand out to his brother. There is a moment of pause as Brian looks down at the hand. Then he takes it, bringing his brother in for a short-arm clothesline! Brian puts a few boots to his brother and then laughs, walking away as Brad looks up toward him with an almost hatred in his eyes.

Cactus Jack and Kevin Sullivan defend vs. Pretty Wonderful

Our next contest is for the WCW World Tag Team titles. An angry Kevin Sullivan marched to the ring and went on the attack against both members of Pretty Wonderful for their assault on Dave Sullivan last night on WCW Saturday Night! This match was an absolute fight between the two teams and Mickey Jay had a hard time keeping control throughout the contest. One moment sees Jack taking Paul Roma over the top rope with the Cactus Clothesline. Another sees Kevin Sullivan sent toppling with a German Suplex by Paul Orndorff that results in a two count. All four men do battle in the ring around nine minutes in. Paul Roma manages to send Cactus Jack to the outside where referee Mickey Jay tries to get him to go to his corner. The distraction leads to a belt shot by Paul Orndorff on Kevin Sullivan behind the referee's back! Roma climbs to the top turnbuckle and leaps off with a flying splash, connecting on Sullivan. Roma makes the cover as the referee turns back around: One, Two, Three! We have new WCW World Tag Team Champions!

Interview Debut Of Jean-Paul Levesque

We go from the ring to the interview area where Gene Okerlund hypes the 900 hotline before introducing one of the newest wrestlers to WCW: Jean-Paul Levesque! Levesque comes out to boos from the crowd with his nose in the air, dressed in a finely tailored suit. He walks over to Gene Okerlund, looks at him and shakes his head. He takes the microphone away from Mean Gene.

Jean-Paul Levesque: "Enough of you. Nobody wants to hear from such a lowly person as you, Gene Okerlund. Besides, these people in Louisville are so poor that they cannot even afford a minute on your precious hotline. My name is Jean-Paul Levesque and I am the richest aristocrat in America. My heritage goes back to King Louis in France. Not that any of you ignoramuses would even know who that is. But the fact remains that I can buy and sell each and every one of you. The only reason I don't is because you're not worth my money. I have purchased the finest trainers to teach me professional wrestling and this Saturday night you will get just a taste of what that training has brought me. Until then, live on knowing that I am simply better than you."

JPL turns and walks off to more boos from the crowd. He definitely did not endear himself to the folks here in Louisville!

Match 4: Diamond Doll Challenge

Diamond Dallas Page w/Diamond Doll vs. Eddie Guerrero

Our next contest this evening features the Diamond Doll Challenge. This week's challenger is none other than Eddie Guerrero of the famous Guerrero wrestling family. Not a lot of heat in this match as the crowd seemed moreso focused on the Diamond Doll than on the match itself. This was also a distraction for Eddie Guerrero as he seemed to look to impress the Diamond Doll with each move, looking for her approval and gaining none of it. Guerrero scores a two count on DDP following a brainbuster. He heads to the top turnbuckle, playing to the crowd for a moment. He leaps -- Diamond Cutter! DDP catches Guerrero in the Diamond Cutter from out of nowhere! DDP makes the cover, hooking the leg: One, Two, Three!

Patriotic Surprise

We move back to the interview area where Gene Okerlund is re-taken his spot as the head interviewer this evening. This time he, once again, hypes the 900 number and then introduces the WCW World Television Champion Lord Steven Regal, along with Sir William. Regal comes out to boos from the crowd and moves to stand alongside Gene Okerlund.

Gene Okerlund: "Lord Steven Regal, welcome to WCW Bash At The Beach. Let's get right down to it. There are many people in the back questioning the way you have been winning your matches here lately. There are some who say you have the referee in your back pocket. Can you talk about that?"

Lord Steven Regal: "Those peasants are merely jealous, Gene. I am sure that comes from wrestlers who could not beat me in a cribbage match, much less a wrestling match. But I understand how they feel. After all, I am a Lord both in the ring and out of the ring. I am better than any American here in Louisville or across the world."

http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a226/shawkes/WCW_94/SgtSlaughter.jpg

Patriotic music begins to play as the fans in attendance are surprised and go wild by the return to WCW of none other than Sgt. Slaughter! The last time this man was seen he was wanting his country back in the WWF! Slaughter is wearing his fatigues and walks right up to Lord Steven Regal.

Sgt. Slaughter: "Really, maggot? Did I actually hear you say that you are better than an American? We don't recognize lords here in WCW or in America. And if you don't like this country then I have just two words for you: GET OUT!"

Regal looks appalled at being interrupted by Sgt. Slaughter. He has his nose turned up and a look of disgust on his face. He shakes his head several times before he walks off with Sir William as Sgt. Slaughter leads the crowd in a 'USA' chant!

Can I Trust An Anderson?

We move to the backstage area where we see a locker room holding Arn Anderson and Dustin Rhodes. The two men are bouncing on their toes as they prepare for their upcoming match with the Stud Stable. Dustin turns and closes a locker door, looking Anderson right in the eyes.

Dustin Rhodes: "Can I trust you, Arn?"

Arn Anderson: "You'll find out tonight."

Anderson turns and walks out of the locker room with Rhodes staring at his back for several long seconds. After about ten seconds, Rhodes releases a sigh and follows Anderson down the hallway toward the ring.

Terry Funk and Bunkhouse Buck w/Col. Robert Parker and Meng vs. Arn Anderson and Dustin Rhodes

Terry Funk and Bunkhouse Buck definitely seem like more of a cohesive and trusting unit than Arn Anderson and Dustin Rhodes. Funk and Buck single out Dustin Rhodes, focusing on his leg that got hurt in a match last night on WCW Saturday Night. Funk goes for the Spinning Toe Hold early on but Arn Anderson came in to break that up. Funk and Buck definitely cheat during the match, using double teams and enticing Arn Anderson to come in the ring, thus distracting the referee for more double-teams and illegal moves. Funk sets up Rhodes for the Texas Piledriver, however Rhodes refuses to go up for it. Instead, he reverses the hold into a back body drop! Rhodes and Funk crawl toward their respective corners. Funk tags in Bunkhouse Buck and Rhodes tags in Anderson!

Tony Schiavone: "Here comes Arn Anderson!"

Bobby Heenan: "But who's side is he on?!?!?"

Arn Anderson comes into the ring and bounces off the ropes, raising his fists and ready for a fight! Anderson goes to Rhodes and shoves him to the side -- Buck slams into the corner! Anderson comes over to Bunkhouse Buck and rains down lefts and rights! Punches! Kicks! A back elbow to Terry Funk! Dustin Rhodes takes down Funk as Anderson kicks Buck in the gut -- DDT! The Anderson DDT! Col. Robert Parker slams his hands on the mat. Meng looks on menacing from ringside as Anderson makes the cover: One, Two, Three!

Could We See A New WCW World Champion Tonight?

Once again following a match we move down to our resident sideline interviewer Gene Okerlund. This time he doesn't focus on the 900 hotline. Instead he immediately introduces the challenger to the WCW World Heavyweight title match tonight: Hulk Hogan! 'American Made' begins to play and out to the interview area comes The Immortal Hulk Hogan. He cups his hand to his ear, drawing in large portions of cheering from this crowd.

Gene Okerlund: "Welcome, Hulk, to WCW! Tonight you step into the ring with another icon, the Nature Boy Ric Flair. What are your final thoughts as we prepare for that match?"

Hulk Hogan: "Well, you know something, brother, it's great to be here with all my WCW Hulkamaniacs where the big boys play, brother. And tonight I take on the top wrestler in WCW before I got here in that nasty, dirty, stinky Ric Flair, dude. Ric, tonight, you and I put it all on the line, brother. But what you don't have is all these fans cheering for you. You don't have them because they are all Hulkamaniacs, brother. Tonight we're gonna find out what you're gonna do, brother. Whatcha gonna do when these powerful pythons and the power of all these Hulkamaniacs runs wild over you?!?!"

The Immortal One poses in several different forms before he walks off, high-fiving the fans along the way. Gene Okerlund sends it back up to the ring announcer for our next match.

Chris Benoit and Dean Malenko w/Jesse Ventura vs. Sting and Rick Martel

This is a solid match in the semi-main event as Sting looks to get some retribution against Benoit, Malenko and The Body. Sting and Rick Martel start things off fast-paced against the more mat-based opponents. A dropkick from Sting sends Malenko to the floor to talk to Ventura as Benoit enters the ring and goes right after Sting. A double dropkick from Sting and Martel sends Benoit right out after his partner. The contest goes back and forth with Malenko at one point getting the Texas Cloverleaf on Martel but Martel makes it to the ropes to break the hold. Benoit and Malenko use double teams on Martel and Sting, working as a finely tuned unit. Around the fifteen minute mark, things break down in the ring with all four men involved. Sting whips Malenko into a corner and goes for the Stinger Splash but Malenko moves out of the way and Sting's elevation makes him strike the corner post behind the turnbuckle. Malenko throws Sting outside the ring but Martel grabs Malenko and sends him to the mat with a slam that sets up a Boston Crab! Malenko struggles in the hold, looking like he might have to submit. Chris Benoit makes the save with a clothesline to the back of the head on Martel! Benoit picks up Martel -- German Suplex, no bridge, all impact! Malenko gets the attention of referee Dick Woehrle as Jesse Ventura throws a chair in the ring. Benoit takes the chair and swings -- connects with Martel! Martel is laid out! The chair is slid out of the ring and Benoit hooks in the Crippler Crossface! The referee turns back around and calls for the bell! Rick Martel is knocked out cold! We have an upset!

Still Stylin' and Profilin'

For the final time, we move back to the interview area where Gene Okerlund is standing by. Gene, once again, hypes the WCW hotline and then introduces the WCW World Heavyweight Champion: Ric Flair! The Nature Boy walks out in his resplendent robe, twirling around and releasing a 'Whooooo' that is echoed by some fans.

Gene Okerlund: "Ric Flair, tonight we already heard from your opponent this evening. What are your final thoughts heading into tonight's Icon versus Icon match?"

Ric Flair: "Meeeeeeean Whoooooo by God Gene! Tonight is the match of a lifetime. The first match between Ric Flair and Hulk Hogan can only happen once and that happens right here at Bash At The Beach. Hulk, I know you left Jimmy at home and I have no one here at ringside for me either. It's just you and me inside the ring where the best man will walk out with the title. And you better believe, pal, that the best man in professional wrestling today, THEE man in professional wrestling is Ric Flair. Not you Hulk, not Sting, not Rick Martel, not even Bret Hart himself can lay claim to being the man. Tonight, when you walk that aisle, when you've got goosebumps going up and down your arms knowing that you have to step in the ring with Ric Flair, just remember Hulk to be the man you have to beat the man. Whooooooo!"

Flair does a strut across the interview stage and Gene Okerlund sends us to this video exploring the history of these two men.

http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a226/shawkes/WCW_94/RicFlair.jpghttp://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a226/shawkes/WCW_94/HulkHogan.jpg

Hype For The Fight Of The Century

The video begins with a history of Ric Flair in WCW/NWA. All of Ric Flair's title wins are shown on one side of the screen. On the other side of the screen is shown the ticker-tape parade when Hulk Hogan arrived to WCW. A training montage comes next on Hogan's side, while Flair is shown putting various wrestlers in the Figure 4 Leglock. It's Icon Versus Icon and it's next!

Ric Flair defends vs. Hulk Hogan

This crowd in Louisville, Kentucky is ready for tonight's epic match between two of professional wrestling's biggest stars. Contrary to what usually happens, the WCW World Champion Ric Flair makes his entrance first to the ring. 'The Nature Boy' enters the ring and some die-hard WCW fans cheer for the heelish Champion. When 'American Made' begins to play, the crowd jumps on their feet and cheers as Hulk Hogan walks out. Hogan cups his ear at the top of the ramp, drawing in even more cheers. Hogan marches down to the ring and steps inside looking across toward Ric Flair. When the bell sounds, the two men meet nose-to-nose in the center of the ring for what is an amazing photo-op. The two men jaw for a moment before Flair backs off and circles around Hogan. The two men lock up and Flair backs Hogan into a corner, throwing chops. Hogan absorbs the chops and comes back with punches! Flair goes down to the mat, gets up and then falls flat on his face again. He exits the ring quickly to think things over.

Bobby Heenan: "Ric Flair playing it smart. You can't go punch for punch with a big brute like Hulk Hogan."

When Flair climbs back in the ring, these two men tell an excellent story in the ring as things go back and forth early on. Flair controls the match for the most part, using classic Flair techniques, especially on the knees of Hogan. Flair drags Hogan to the ring post and slams the knee into the ring post, serving two purposes. It sets him up for the Figure 4 and might make him think twice about the legdrop finisher. Flair lays Hogan out in the center of the ring and bounces off the ropes -- diving knee drop! Flair stands up and struts across the ring to some boos from the crowd. Flair goes back to Hogan and picks him up, sending him into a corner. Flair laces Hogan's chest with chops, the red on Hogan's chest able to be seen by the camera. Flair trips Hogan up and then moves him to the center of the ring. He twists the leg and then laces him up -- Figure 4 Leglock! Flair gets Hogan in the Figure 4! Bobby Heenan crows on commentary that this is the end of Hulkamania! Hogan shakes his head, refusing to give up! Referee Tommy Young asks Hogan again and again Hogan refuses to submit. Flair reaches back and grabs the middle rope! More pressure is put on Hogan's legs but he refuses to give up! Flair releases the ropes and leans in, slapping the face of Hogan! Another slap! Another! Hulk's eyes go wide! The fans clap and stomp their feet at Hogan's second wind! Hogan works and turns over the Figure 4! The hold is quickly broken.

Tony Schiavone: "Look at that, Brain! I know you've seen that before!"

Bobby Heenan: "No, No, NO! It can't be! Do something, Ric!"

Flair has gotten to his feet, throwing punches to Hogan but Hogan just absorbs them into his second wind. He begins rising to his feet, getting the power of all of his Hulkamaniacs! Hogan raises a hand and -- points! Flair shakes his head, backing off. Hogan charges him, throwing punches. He whips Flair across the ring and Flair flips over the turnbuckles to the apron. He runs along the apron and climbs the turnbuckle but Hogan is there! Hogan catches Flair and body slams him to the mat! Hogan poses for the crowd and then picks up Flair. He whips him to the ropes -- Big Boot! Hogan poses a little more and then bounces off the ropes -- Atomic Legdrop! Hogan makes the cover, hooking the leg: One, Two, Three!

We have a brand new WCW World Heavyweight Champion! 'American Made' begins to play as referee Tommy Young raises the arm of Hulk Hogan in victory! Young hands Hogan the belt and Hogan raises it up to an explosion of cheers from this capacity crowd! Hogan stands in the middle of the ring and begins to pose in all sort of different forms as Bobby Heenan laments the end of WCW as we know it. Hogan climbs up on the second turnbuckle and raises the belt up high once again! The show ends with Hulk Hogan posing in the ring. We'll see you Saturday for WCW Saturday Night!
