1994 WCW: The Art of War

“Victorious warriors win first and then go to war, while defeated warriors go to war first and then seek to win”

OOC: Wanted to create my fictionalization of the Wars between WWF/E and WCW. One addition that is going to change things from other's is my CAW: Jake Steele. The character is from a NCAA Football dynasty a friend and I played. Everything about him actually happened in game.

http://i1284.photobucket.com/albums/a573/Ashley_Menzies/Generic129_zps803e013c.jpg
Jake Steele a 23-year old former football player. He was a punter and kicker at Rutgers known for wearing a tinted visor. There are also strong rumors that he had his coach, Craig T. Nelson, fired at the conclusion of his Junior season.

If there is a young star to follow, it's Steele. Prone to acting as a heel, he as outstanding charisma and a certain star quality to him. He picked up selling very quickly, but still needs to learn his way around the ring. He is ready to make an impact with his Goodnight From Rio finisher.

I hope to take this diary in a bit of a different direction and still be an interesting look back to the 90s of wrestling. And since I work from home, I hope I can pump out a few of these to keep things moving pretty well...

Week 1, July 1994 - A monday

Three days away from the tapings for WCW Main Event and WCW Saturday Night and major, major rumors are starting to spread.

Though the biggest news of course is the signing of Hulk Hogan, WCW continues to make news in the wrestling world.

Looking to bolster their roster of stars as a war with WWF seems to be inevitable at this point, WCW has been in contact with many wrestlers. The names floating around include both current stars and many new stars still needing training.

Contract extensions have been made to Ron Simmons and Cactus Jack. But many others on the roster do not feel as save... particularly those not on written contacts. Jim Duggan and The Guardian Angel have already been let go, so it is apparent that no one is safe.

Owner of WCW, Ted Turner, has apparently been quiet excited about the development of Dustin Rhodes. Dave Meltzer had this report:

Sources are telling me that Ted Turner is expecting to see WCW push Dustin Rhodes to near Main Event Status over the coming year setting up a potential run with or for the US title. Rumors are also swirling about a DDP Television title run in coming future.

Heenan astutely pointed out, “think of that smell.” But Stud dodges a corner splash that caused Sags to knock Knobbs off the ring apron. Stud made a quick tag to Wright who took over from there. A few more tags and Write locks in an STF on Sags and gets the Big Nasty to tap out. </p><p> The crowd loves it! So, there was a bit of overload in just matches in the middle, which worked fine. I also threw another match in there to how that worked. Which could be why: This. Crowd. Sucked. They were cold most of the night which hampered the show. A B show isn’t bad, but I just expected more for the go home show. But all in the all the card graded out just about perfectly with each segment gaining in the ratings. But a downer after such a good show the week before. Hopefully, the momentum doesn’t get hurt too bad heading into Bash which is ONLY IN TWO DAYS!</em></p><p><em> </em></p><p><em> Preview up soon!</em></p>

Week 4 July 1994

http://www.onlineworldofwrestling.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/01/wgn.jpg

Injury report

Brian Pillman suffered a busted ear drum during his match against Chris Benoit. Many in the back feel that Benoit was working too stiff and was responsible for the injury. No reports of ill will between the two. Pillman is listed as day-to-day and could go at Bash at the Beach, but no medical clearance has been announced yet.

Mysterious Videos:

The odd videos continue to play during Saturday Night… there is concern that something could happen at Bash at the Beach, but WCW executives are still not responding to anything about what is going on.

Around wrestling:

Chief Jay Strongbow has been named head trainer of the Cominic DeNucci’s Wrestling School

Ron Hutchinson Wrestling Academy has named Bret Hart as their new head training. This is a huge get for the academy and has everyone in wrestling bookmarking their potential graduates (editor notes: Might turn on generation just to see what comes from the academy? Might put it to a reader vote?)

  • 2 weeks later...

Aaaaand my file is gone. I must have cleaned out the wrong file and no longer have my save. Ugh.

I'm not very far in and haven't revealed anything big. I may scrap and restart... I think I can do better anyway having a better idea of everything really.
