WWE Raw: Big Time! (2006) is a collaboration diary by

. It will focus on the happenings of the
WWE Raw
brand starting in January 2006. Outside of Raw, Smackdown will also be covered, albeit more briefly - through the point of view of the diaries 'voice'
Vince McMahon
. Vince's point of view will be presented in an 'insider-style' WWE.com article before each pay-per-view. The article will also feature his thoughts on both brand's products, teasers on future signings and trades along with covering the general happenings within the company.

<p>Question for McMahon: Do you feel that Teddy books a few too many Tag Team Matches, or is it just me?</p><p> </p><p>

The event will kick off with Smackdown's six man cruiserweight open which will see Kid Kash attempt to defend his title against Funaki, Nunzio, Paul London, Gregory Helms and Jamie Noble. Kid Kash has proven himself to be a strong champion within a tough division but with the odds far from in his favour we might very well see a new champion crowned. </span></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:'Lucida Sans Unicode';"> </span></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:'Lucida Sans Unicode';">

That won't be the only Smackdown title on the line, Batista will be defending his World Heavyweight Title against Mark Henry. The Animal has held the title since last Wrestlemania but is yet to face a challenger who is as physically imposing as himself. The World Strongest Man has never held a world title and so is bound to be more than ready to end Batista's reign.</span></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:'Lucida Sans Unicode';"> </span></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:'Lucida Sans Unicode';">

The scheduled main event for the RAW brand will see John Cena invoke his rematch clause for the WWE Title against Edge. 'The Rated R Superstar' has held the title for a month since his historic cashing in of the money in the bank breifcase just after Cena had retained in a gruelling elimination chamber. The one time world champion has already had quite the month not only has he defended his title against the legendary Ric Flair in a ladder match and beeg part of the most watched RAW segment in years: his life sex celebration with Lita. So now the self proclaimed 'most watched champion ever' faces his toughest challenge yet, and this time, the leader of Cenation won't have just battled five other men. </span></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:'Lucida Sans Unicode';"> </span></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:'Lucida Sans Unicode';">

The divas will also be in action when Mickie James takes on Ashley with Trish Stratus as the special guest referee. This match has come about due to Ashley's concerns about Mickie's obsession with Trish and she definitely has a point, whether it's dressing up as her in the divas 'fullfill your fantasy battle royal', using Trish's signature moves or even stealing a kiss under the mistletoe it's clear that Mickie is enamoured with the Womens Champion, perhaps unhealthily so. </span></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:'Lucida Sans Unicode';"> </span></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:'Lucida Sans Unicode';">

However the main attraction is bound to be the Rumble itself. 30 men all fighting for the chance to main event Wrestlemania 22 and challenge for a World Title. RAW certainly have an impressive roster of potential winners. Triple H has recently vowed that he will win the Rumble and go on to challenge the WWE champion but it's hard to forget people like the Tag Team Champions; Kane and The Big Show, or the current Intercontinental Champion Ric Flair. Other names include the athletically gifted Shelton Benjamin and the tag team of Chris Masters and Carlito, whom after falling out at the Elimination Chamber appear to be back on the same page. However two names that have also both been tipped as favourites are a returning RVD and 'The Heart Break Kid' Shawn Michaels, however question marks hover of HBK's chances due to his ongoing feud with Vince Mcmahon as having the chairman of the company gunning for you can never help your chances. </span></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:'Lucida Sans Unicode';"> </span></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:'Lucida Sans Unicode';">

There is however no gurantee that the winner of the Rumble will be a RAW superstar and one only has to glance at the Smackdown roster to see how the main event of Wrestlemania may be fought not for the WWE Title but the World Heavyeight Title. Names such as Booker T, Bobby Lashley, Rey Mysterio and Randy Orton must worry not only Vince McMahon but all the RAW superstars in the match. </span></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:'Lucida Sans Unicode';"> </span></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:'Lucida Sans Unicode';">

All things considered the 2006 Royal Rumble has the potential to be a memorable event. Whether it's John Cena's struggle to overcome the R Rated Superstar or the 30 man over the top rope battle royal one thing is for sure, that the Road to Wrestlemania will begin.</span></div></div></div></div><p> </p><p> </p><p>

Kid Kash © vs Funaki, Jamie Noble, Nunzio, Paul London and Gregory Helms

6-Way Cruiserweight Open

Cruiserweight Title

Kid Kash appeared confident despite being up against the odds. The champion has issued an open challenge which was accepted not only by four cruiserweights on Smackdown but by Helms who appeared from RAW.

As action packed as one would expect, the cruiserweight open was full of exciting moves and fast paced action. A highlight was Paul London hitting his Shooting Star Press on all five men. Despite moves like this the pin was hard to come by with all six men fighting at once. Noble appeared to have the victory when he had Funaki in his Dragon Sleeper but Helms managed to push Jamie out of the ring, hit Funaki with a Shining Wizard and get the pin.

In the back Vince is stood with Torrie Wilson, Victoria and Candice Michelle. Triple H and Randy Orton are in the room to pick their Royal Rumble number. Orton goes first and picks out a ball. Orton smiles at his ball and then smirks towards HHH. Triple H pushes Orton out of the way and picks out a ball of his own. Triple H opens the ball and his face drops. Orton pats Triple H on the back and says he'll see him out there... or maybe not.

Mickie James vs Ashley

Special Guest Referee: Trish Stratus

Before the match Mickie caught Trish getting ready, the divas champion did her best to avoid a conversation but a forceful Mickie pulled her back to reveal that she loves her.*

Mickie appeared delighted to get it off her chest and seemed oblivious to Trish's negative reaction, any delight was soon gone once the match started with Ashley doing well to work Mickie's arm

The momentum turned in Mickie's favour when she began to work Ashley's back, with a fishermans suplex getting a near fall. It was a powerbomb that would get Mickie the win, Trish reluctantly raised Mickie's hand in victory, sending the winner back to her delighted state.*

JBL vs The Boogeyman

After JBL's extravagant entrance alongside his valet Jillian Hall, his face dropped at the sight of his opponent crawl towards the ring with his bag of worms. Once toe to toe with his opponent, JBL wasted little time taking the fight to Boogeyman. He tried to end it as quick as possible but failed to connect with the Clothesline from Hell on numerous occasions. On his fourth attempt Boogeyman managed to get out of the way just in time to send JBL crashing shoulder first into the turnbuckle which gave Boogeyman the chance to his his Pumphandle Slam and get the victory.

After the match he tried to add insult to injury by stuffing his worms into JBL's mouth, however John threw Jillian in the way, letting her take the worms instead much to the crowd's delight.*

Edge© vs John Cena

WWE Championship Title Match

RAW's main event saw the Rated R Superstar take on the former champion.

John Cena made a spectatular entrance on a huge spaceshiplike structure which ascended down over the ramp, the champion then made his way out accompanied by lita in a comparatively unflashy entrance.

The match itself saw some brutal brawling, only minutes in Edge used Lita as a shield to distract his opponent which gave him a chance to spear him into the steel steps, after barely making a ten count Cena got back in the ring and slowly began to gain momentum, that was until Edge once again used the steel steps as a weapon, this time whipping the former champion into them. Edge continued to dominate until Cena ducked under a clothesline, hit a running shoulder block and followed it up with a sitout powebomb. It looked like he had the win with a five knuckle shuffle but after Lita distracted the referee John got up to deal with her, he was about to knock her off the apron when Edge cam running towards him but with a quick side step he moved out of the way leaving Edge to take out Lita. A distraught Edge turned around straight into an F-U, the STFU was quickly applied and it didn't take long for the Champion to tap.

Batista © vs Mark Henry

World Heavyweight Championship Title Match

Smackdown's main event saw the World Strongest Man take on The Animal. Mark was full of confidence after winning a number one contendership battle royal on Smackdown however Batista was far from intimated, even after Henry won the first test of strength. Nobody expected a technical master class from the two however both wowed the crowd with some impressive feats of strength. After Batista kicked out of a huge body slam, Mark began to get frustrated and ripped the protective cover off the turnbuckle. The referee caught Henry but while he was trying to put the pad back on Henry whipped Batista into the same corner. The referee was crushed in between the exposed turnbuckle and 290 pounds of Batista. Henry followed it up with a big clothesline. Batista began to get to his feet but it gave Henry enough time to grab a steel chair from under the ring. Henry swings the chair but Batista managed to duck under and pull Henry up into a spinebuster. Batista looks over to the referee who is still down and back down the chair on the ground. He lays it out and drags Henry to his feet. Amazingly he manages to pull him up and hit the Batista Bomb onto the chair. Batista kicks the weapon out of the ring just in time for the referee to count Batista the win.

Post-Match

As Batista celebrated after the match, the lights in the arena went down. After a few moments a lightening bolt struck the ramp and druids piled out of the back onto the ramp. Out of the dark a figure could be made out. It soon became clear that it was the returning Undertaker. The Undertaker pointed towards Batista, who held the World Heavyweight Championship, before making the cut throat gesture to him. The lights then went completely down and when they came back up the druids and The Undertaker were gone.

Entrant #30: Randy Orton (Joining Triple H, Rey Mysterio, Carlito, Chris Benoit, Joey Mercury, Kurt Angle, Johnny Nitro, Orlando Jordan, Rob Van Dam and Viscera)

Shortly after, on the other side of the ring Masters and Carlito teamed up to get rid Viscera. As Masters' back was turned, Carlito once again stabbed him in the back, by throwing him over the to roe and eliminating him.

As Masters shouted abuse at Carlito, this allowed RVD to grab Carlito – instead of eliminating him, however he put the boots to Carlito, finally getting his hands on the man who injured him.

As Carlito once again slipped out, RVD turned his attention to Goldust who he eliminate with a high kick, sending him over the top rope. Orton also continued to build momentum eliminating Orlando Jordan. On the other side of the ring there was another 'betrayal' as Johnny Nitro eliminated Mercury. They argued and as Melina held Mercury back, Nitro was dropkicked over the top rope by Rey Mysterio. As they argue on the outside, Melina calmed the situation and they left together.

Benjamin and Michaels where also carrying on their back and forth and HBK eliminated Benjamin. Shortly after this Vince McMahon made his way to the ring. Shawn Michaels, who'd had a 'bounty' placed on his head by McMahon earlier locked eyes with him and as Vince continued to walk down the ramp, Michaels was throw over the top rope by Shane McMahon. HBK was furious and went after Shane McMahon who had escaped, as had Vince.

The last five then quickly became the final four as, having decide he'd had enough of him, Rob Van Dam threw Carlito out of the match.

Final Four: Triple H, Rey Mysterio, Rob Van Dam and Randy Orton.

Van Dam and Rey then shook hands and worked together against Triple H and Randy Orton. This alliance worked well until Van Dam went to the top rope. Triple H threw Van Dam off the top rope and Irish Whipped Rey into RVD sending Van Dam over the top rope.

Orton and HHH then teamed up on Rey and tried to get rid of him. Rey overcame the odds thought and hit Orton and HHH with a double 619. He then eliminated Triple H from the match.

As retaliation, HHH dragged Rey out of the ring and threw him into the steel steps, leaving him at the mercy of Orton as he threw him back in. Orton grabbed Rey and laughed at him before running to throw him over the top rope. At the last second, Rey shifted his feet and reversed it, throwing Orton over the top rope, winning the 2006 Royal Rumble.

Rey celebrated, having set a record for longest time in the Royal Rumble and guaranteeing a Championship match at WrestleMania! He looked up to the sky in tribute to Eddie Guerrero as the commentators put over the amazing feat.

<p>Hope people enjoyed the rumble! You might have noticed that the card and results are very similar to what happened in real life, this is both because our plan is to keep this as realistic as possible and not change everything from the get go and also because we don't plan on changing things for the sake of it. That said, things will start to get increasingly different from real life very soon. </p><p> </p><p>

P.S Still some time to get your questions in to Vince before the second 'Inside the Boardroom' which should be up sometime before the No Way Out preview.</p>

Signing specific talents to contracts allows us to create an environment where the stars can crossover into other areas of the network, adding interest into Sports Entertainment NOW and the rest of our broadcasts. The exclusivity allows us to create our own microcosm of celebrity culture, ensuring that we can elevate the name value of the talent as we wish, and in essence controlling the perception of them to the audience by allowing it to exist in under the “NOW” umbrella.
