Comments on Previous Show: "HOLY CRAP YOU'VE CRAPPED A MASTERPIECE!!!" - Still one of my favourite Shawn Michaels quotes, but I hope he does well with you! Always thought he was booked well to begin with, and had potential if he was booked better after his initial impact.

Hell in a Cell Qualifier

The Undertaker vs. Rene Dupree

Comment: I'm calling for the upset. I won't be surprised to see Eddie as the lone face in the entire cage. Taker to lose by DQ or countout, I definitely can't see this one going by pinfall.

Rey Mysterio vs. Chavo Guerrero

Comment: This one can continue until the PPV.

WWE Television Championship

Hardcore Holly vs. Matt Hardy ©

Comment: Holly will likely be the toughest challenger Matt has had, but Mattitude Fact says that he likes it hardcore.

Comment: I refer back to my first prediction comment.

Comments on Previous Show: I think I can see your little wheels turning as far as the 3H story goes, but time will tell on if you roll how I think you will. Otherwise, another good win for Shawn, a decent debut for the Masterpiece, and I'm really surprised that you put Benoit over Orton.

WWE SmackDown!
Thursday, Week 4, November 2004

The opening video, backed by "Rise Up" performed by Drowning Pool plays as Michael Cole and Tazz greet us from ringside. They roll a quick recap video of the announcement of (and first two qualifying matches for) the Armageddon Hell in a Cell for the WWE Championship. The video ends with the cryptic voice of The Undertaker, who wants in the match himself! Cole and Tazz let us know that he won't have to wait - his chance kicks off the show! They're cut off by
and his opponent Rene Dupree is on his way out to the ring.

RATING:
76 (B-)

Armageddon Hell in a Cell Qualifier

The Undertaker
vs.
Rene Dupree

"The Phenom" looked dead set on getting his hands on Heyman's selections inside Hell in a Cell, and even when King Dupree had an advantage, 'Taker snuffed it out. After a flurry of offense, Dupree looked cocky as he taunted The Undertaker with his French Tickler dance, but his adversary sat up! Dupree's eyes bulged out of his head in shock as 'Taker continued a relentless attack, but with the referee checking on a Dupree injury, Luther Reigns sneaked in and hit a running big boot to the skull, allowing Dupree to mysteriously heal and make a quick cover for the three count!

RATING:
82 (B)

Notes
: None.

Cole condemns the dastardly Heyman for sending Reigns out to do his bidding, but Tazz calms him down as he doesn't want his partner to lose his job. Instead, they send the broadcast back to Josh Mathews, who's standing by with "The Doctor of Thuganomics,"
John Cena
.

The United States Champion has some reactions to his skirmishes with Scott Steiner last week, and they're simple. He says that he knows words might not be Scott's strong suit because of his peanut-sized brain, but all he had to do was ask. Because John Cena's a fightin' champion, and if Scott Steiner wants some at Armageddon.....he can come...get...some!

RATING:
83 (B+)

Rey Mysterio w/Billy Kidman and Torrie Wilson
vs.
Chavo Guerrero

With no love lost between these two, it was a predictably hard-hitting fight. Neither pulled any punches, so-to-speak, as the commentators shifted back from the US Title discussion. Guerrero wasted a bit too much time gloating, and found himself on the wrong end of a burst from Mysterio and the 619, followed by the West Coast Pop for the win.

RATING:
70 (C+)

Notes
: This is a go-to pair because they can put on a solid match under any circumstances.

In the back,
Rene Dupree
stands with new backstage interviewer
. He hypes himself as a French king in the vein of Henry IV, Louis XIV, and Napoleon Bonaparte. He says that he is what's best for the WWE and for SmackDown, not some silly man in mascara and a cowboy hat. He is a king that will stand tall against evil, such as the evil of the lying, cheating, stealing Eddie Guerrero, and he will walk out of Armageddon as the WWE
championne du monde
.

RATING:
84 (B+)

Notes
: None.

Cole and Tazz talk about Dupree's brash words, and Tazz believes it's definitely in his best interests to have confidence heading into his first huge title match of his career.

hits and the WWE Champion
Eddie Guerrero
makes his way out to the ring, cheered heavily by the fans. He plays to them a little bit as he normally does, before grabbing a microphone. He says that in three Sundays, he'll put his title, his life, his love on the line against five other superstars inside Hell in a Cell. He says that so far, he's chosen four men to go up against Paul Heyman's guys, and they've all fallen. So he wants to call out his final choice right here, right now. After a short delay,
blares over the PA system, signaling the arrival of
Edge
.

Edge gets in the ring as Eddie greets him, telling him of how he's fought and clawed against Paul Heyman these past few months, and how he's glad that Edge was there at Survivor Series to help him overcome the onslaught. Guerrero says that if he has to lose the title at Armageddon, he hopes it's to Edge because he's a man that deserves it more than any of Heyman's boys. He says he knows Edge has had a problem beating Brock Lesnar in the past, but --

Edge cuts him off right there and asks him why he called him out here. Was it to wish him luck? If so, he doesn't need it. Is it to kiss his ass so he'll help out at Armageddon? Because it's every damn man for himself and Edge doesn't care about Eddie any more than he cares about Rene Dupree or JBL. He says he doesn't need his well wishes about later on tonight against Brock Lesnar, because he's a changed man since he last fought "The Next Big Thing." He says before those matches, he's never sniffed that WWE Title but since then, it's a scent he can't shake.

Eddie backs off and says that he didn't mean anything by what he was saying, and that he just thought that they were in this war together,
holmes
. Edge takes a step forward and says he's going to beat Lesnar tonight, and it doesn't matter that there's five other guys inside Hell in a Cell. He's going to
take
the WWE Title from Eddie's shoulder even if he has to take his whole damn arm with it! Edge pokes the belt as he says this, and Eddie pulls away, looking a bit angry and disheartened as Edge leaves the ring.

Hardcore Holly
vs.
Matt Hardy ©

Holly looked energized in this one, looking to claim gold and revitalize his career which has taken a bit of a tumble since his WWE Title opportunity at the Royal Rumble. Matt Hardy perhaps sensed this, as he slid out the back of the Alabama Slam and retreated through the crowd with his title belt, getting himself counted out.

RATING:
70 (C+)

Notes
: None.

In the back,
Brock Lesnar
knocks on the locker room door of
Kurt Angle
. Brock still thinks that Eddie is going to help Edge tonight, so he asks Kurt if he'd accompany him down to the ring so they can make sure that a Heyman guy gets into the Hell in a Cell. Angle retorts negatively, saying that contrary to popular belief, he doesn't like Brock. Hell, he doesn't even like Paul Heyman. Paul just knows that Kurt is a believer in America, and there's nothing more American than the almighty dollar. Angle says that Heyman provided him an opportunity to provide for his family, and he's going to do just that by winning the WWE Championship. He's on no one's side, and he wishes Brock luck before closing the door in his face!

RATING:
88 (B+)

Notes
: Man, none of these guys like each other.

comes on in the arena next as
Muhammad Hassan and Daivari
make their way down the ramp. Cole and Tazz comment on the chaos surrounding the WWE Championship Hell in a Cell until Hassan gets into the ring and picks up a microphone.

He begins by talking about how it took weeks before Bryan Lloyd would accept his challenge, showing his true cowardice. Lloyd thought he could bury all of his problems in the back of his mind just as all Americans tend to do. Hassan says he has been overlooked his entire life because of his heritage, and he struck at Survivor Series because he's sick of being looked past. He reminds everyone that he's here in WWE to take what's his, and not to kneel before anyone, regardless of where they come from. He goes on to call the WWE fans xenophobes, and says that they wouldn't know what true talent was if it was included in their McDonald's meals.

After a few more disparaging comments,
hits and
Bryan Lloyd
makes his way out to the ring. With a microphone in his hand on the ramp, Lloyd says he and these people are sick and tired of hearing Hassan come out week after week and talk about how he's held down. He talks about how just a few short months ago,
he
was one of these fans that Hassan is trashing, and now he main evented Survivor Series living his dream as a WWE Superstar. Getting angry, Hassan fires back and says he hopes he's used his Survivor Series paycheck to fly his family out to Armageddon because he's going to embarrass him in front of every last member of his dumpster trash kin. This incenses Lloyd, who slowly puts down the microphone, removes his shirt and makes his way down to the ring! He gets inside of it as Hassan tries to attack first, but Lloyd uses his superior wrestling ability to get the upper hand! He lands a few hard kicks, tosses Daivari out of the ring, and tries to lock in Cattle Mutilation! Hassan is able to wriggle out and up the ramp, however, as Lloyd calls for him to come back to the ring.

RATING:
73 (B-)

Notes
: Much better than last week's interaction with these guys.

Londrick
vs.
The Basham Brothers

This one was no more than a showcase for London and Kendrick as the announcers went over Lloyd's conflict with Muhammad Hassan for most of it. Kendrick finished off Danny Basham with his Sliced Bread #2, now called the Air Strike.

After it was over, the partners celebrated a bit before grabbing a microphone. They talk quickly about how they respect Rey Mysterio and Billy Kidman, but they are coming for them, and they won't rest until they're the WWE Tag Team Champions. They go on to challenge the champions for Armageddon before walking out.

RATING:
66 (C+) / 57 (C-)

Notes
: Four cruiserweights doing battle in a tag match should be fun.

Scott Steiner
is walking around backstage when he runs right into
Booker T
. Without any words and simply a scowl, Booker hits an uppercut to the throat of "Big Poppa Pump!" A brawl ensues backstage, which Booker gets the better of before he's pulled off of Steiner by officials, having gotten a measure of revenge for last week's assault!

RATING:
79 (B)

John Cena
vs.
Nunzio w/Jamie Noble

With the commentary team talking about Booker T's revenge on Steiner, Steiner's Armageddon opponent John Cena took on "The Full Blooded Italian" Nunzio. While Nunzio tried to use some of his underhanded tactics to gain an advantage, it seemingly just angered the United States Champion. After knocking Jamie Noble off the apron, Cena finished off his tag team partner with the F-U.

RATING:
82 (B)

Notes
: Nunzio's been an underrated worker, he can help make guys like Cena look great.

In the back,
Lords of the Ring
leave the locker room of Brock Lesnar, going over strategy to help him in the main event. As they walk down the hallway, they're confronted by
Rhyno
, whom they cost a spot in Hell in a Cell last week. They plead with him and start to back up down the hall.......right into the torso of
Big Show
! They walk down an adjacent hallway as the two men grab them by the hair (or, in Storm's case, the ear). Big Show and Rhyno toss them in a dark closet as they plead for mercy, closing and locking the door as they stand in front of it ensuring no escape!

Armageddon Hell in a Cell Qualifier

Edge
vs.
Brock Lesnar

After dwelling on The Undertaker's promise for a moment, Cole and Tazz shift gears, reminding us of our upcoming main event where if Brock Lesnar wins, Paul Heyman decides the final man to take on Eddie Guerrero inside Hell in a Cell at Armageddon for the WWE Title!

The two men squared off and they had some history from earlier this year where Edge came so close to defeating Brock twice - including in a First Blood match - but Lesnar came out on top both times. Edge's killer instinct seemed to have grown throughout this match, whenever he got the advantage he never stopped being on the attack until Lesnar came back with a reversal or a stiff punch to the face to open up space. All seemed to be lost for Edge when a suicide dive sent him straight into the ground following an evasion by Brock! A few moments later, Brock went for the F-5, but Edge rolled off his shoulders and hit the Edgecution! Sensing trouble for Lesnar and his boss, Luther Reigns hit the ring, ominously standing outside. JBL and Rene Dupree also made their way out, seemingly preferring Heyman's choice over Edge. The three of them got on the apron as Lesnar stirred behind Edge, surrounding him.

All of a sudden, Eddie Guerrero came rushing out! He delivered punches to Reigns, threw Dupree into the steps, ducked a Clothesline From Hell (which hit Reigns), and backed JBL into a corner as he pleaded for mercy! Meanwhile, in the ring, Lesnar had brought a chair into play. Edge ducked a chair shot, kicked him in the gut, picked it up and bashed Brock in the head with it! He slid it out of the ring as the referee turned from dealing with the outside situation. Guerrero allowed JBL to escape as Edge was in the ring, pulling his hair out and gritting his teeth for Brock to stand up. With the cheers steadily rising, Lesnar used the ropes to regain his composure and turned around directly into a Spear! Edge covered - 1, 2, 3! Edge is in Hell in a Cell!

His music blares throughout the arena as Brock rolls out of the ring and Edge celebrates. Guerrero stands on the ramp as Edge gets on the second turnbuckle and looks down toward him. Edge gives the WWE Champion a nod, and then motions for the title belt. Eddie simply smirks and chuckles to himself as he walks to the back.

RATING:
86 (B+) / 86 (B+)

Notes
: A solid way to end the show, this was the best match these guys have put on all year.

____________________________________________

OVERALL SHOW RATING:
86 (B+)

Notes
: This was a nice show. SmackDown just doesn't have the star power that RAW does, but they're holding their own for sure.

I love the fact that Johnny Nitro has already made it to the Main Event. That awesome guy has got a bright future, I hope. Also, Mitchell is a great signing, he might be paired with Mordecai like Lloyd said, as that is the most obvious thing, but let's see what happens.
