The Philadelphia Warriors [1960 to ????]

Recommended Posts

Introduction:

Because I fear for my “job” over in the Los Angeles Clippers dynasty, I made the decision to start-up a second dynasty from a different time period. This time, I haven't made any pre-dynasty changes to the roster. Now that the suspense has gone on long enough....I am taking over the Philadelphia Warriors franchise! As with the Clippers, I'm gonna attempt to either match or do better than the Real-World Warriors.

A Look at the Warriors:

Total Salary: $50,095

Cap Room: $27,905

Budget Room: $31,517

IRL Warriors Records:

 • 1960-61 Season ended 46-33, 11 Games behind 1st Place, Losing in the Semi-Finals
 • 1961-62 Season ended 49-31, 11 Games behind 1st Place, Losing in the Division Finals

Dynasty Warriors Records:

 • 1960-61 Season ended 52-28, in 1st Place by 7.0 Games, Lost in the NBA Finals in 7 to the Lakers
 • 1961-62 Season ended 55-25, in 1st Place by 13.0 Games, Lost in Conference Finals in 5 to Syracuse

Roster:

Centers:

 • Wilt Chamberlain
 • Joe Graboski

Power Forwards:

 • N/A

Small Forwards:

 • Joe Ruklick
 • Paul Arizin

Point Guards:

 • Alvin Attles
 • Guy Rodgers
 • Vern Hatton
 • William Kennedy

Shooting Guards:

 • Ed Conlin
 • Andy Johnson
 • Tom Gola

Closing Thoughts:

No Power Forward.....might be a problem....No Free Agents available as well. Hmm, only option is to make trades......still have all of my draft picks so I can make moves there if need be.

That Bob Petit trade was great and you really did not give up much either. I mean he is worth a first rounder so you basically traded him for that. Usually the second round picks in this game suck so you came out ahead in this trade in my opinion.

I forgot to say this in my last post.... Welcome aboard BHK1978, J_5_Gil! I decided to post the next post now, only an hour and 15 minutes after my last on instead of the 2 I said I would wait.

Thoughts – *slams head into keyboard over and over* Dammit.....so close to a ring! Ended the season by losing the last two games of the Finals....at least we made it to the show!

Small Forward Paul Arizin is still injured with his Broken Ankle....16 days left until healed.

Okay, so that THAT is out of the way...we are now ready to start the Off-Season! All of my players were on 2 year contracts [except of Wilt who was on a 3yr deal] this past season, so in the up-coming season I'll be negotiating new deals with everyone. Let's see how this upcoming Off-Season goes!

An expansion Draft occurred and the Chicago Bulls drafted SG Tom Gola away from the Warriors.

Thoughts - Before even getting to the Rookie Draft, already lost two players.... at least it helps point out which positions I'm gonna need to pick in the draft/free agency.

Thoughts – Traded away Alpodogan and Guy Rodgers to New York for a back-up Center named Johnny Kerr. Also, traded my ‘64 1st Round Pick & Joe Ruklick for SF Jim Palmer of the Knicks. Final trade done during the Off-Season? Ed Conlin, Donnie Butcher & the ‘64 2nd Round Pick were traded to St. Louis for SG Cliff Hagan.

So, these are my 1961-62 Warriors! Don’t have much by way of draft picks [only the ‘63 1st Round Pick left] and 7 of my players are on 1 year deals now.....I’ll be renegotiating those deals immediately.

I'd suggest trading Johnny Kerr (who'd be retiring in a couple years IRL) for a good point guard. He's too good to languish as Wilt's caddy at center. Nordmann, who's 6'10" (quite tall for the early '60s), is more ideal as a backup center, while Tyra is adequate as Pettit's backup PF. At PG...AFAIK Al Attles isn't starting material yet in 1961-62, but he should at least be good on the defensive end.

Thoughts – 55-25! Lead the East by 13.0 Games, and nobody was a real threat to contend against us except for Syracuse...could the Finals this year be Philadelphia Warriors [Golden State Warriors] - Cincinnati Royals [sacramento Kings]? Possibly! Just need to get past either the Knicks or Nationals [76ers]!

02/28/62 – Charlie Tyra, out with a Stiff Neck for 6 days

04/09/62 – Bob Petit, out with Patellar Tendanitis for 22 days [still out for 9 days]

Thoughts – Petit might be back in time for the 1st Game of the second round....can’t wait for Playoffs!

I've thought up a schedule! This week will be Warrior Week....next week, Clippers Week...and I will continue to alternate each week until one of the dynasties dies....at which point, I'll contemplate adding a new one.
