[HYPE] Attitude: Get It? (December 1998)

It's December 1998. The WWF has overtaken WCW in the Monday Night Wars, and Eric Bischoff is willing to do anything to get back on top. In fact, he tried just that back in July 1998 when he had Goldberg defeat Hulk Hogan for the WCW World Title on Monday Nitro in front of a packed crowd inside the Georgia Dome. While WCW may have won the ratings war that night, it hasn't been able to beat the WWF since, and many feel that giving Goldberg vs. Hogan away for free is just one of many bad ideas that seems to have been hampering WCW as of late. Whereas everyone backstage at WCW seems to be stabbing each other in the back, most everyone in the WWF has come together in a team effort to help make the WWF the #1 wrestling company in North America. But WCW can still be salvaged. Goldberg is still unbeaten, and is gearing up for a huge showdown against Kevin Nash for the WCW World Title at Starrcade after Nash won World War 3. Many feel that Goldberg should stay unbeaten right now and ride the wave of momentum, as this could help WCW in developing new stars to stay competitive with the WWF and maybe even beat them once again.

Meanwhile, ECW look to be gaining more traction as of late, having built more of a cult following after getting on Pay Per View, allowing people who haven't been able to watch them on TV to see them for the first time. But there are also reports that ECW may be losing money as Paul Heyman doesn't seem to be very keen when it comes to business savvy. And after getting some air time on WWF TV earlier this year, the NWA looks to be making a comeback as they have a number of independent affiliates that seem to be on fire in their respective regions, especially NWA Worldwide in Tennesse, NWA New England in the Massachusetts and Connecticut areas, and NWA Southwest down in North Richland Hills, Texas. But one wonders if politics will take down the NWA again much like in the 80s. Wrestling seems to be riding a huge wave of popularity right now, but how long this boom will last is up to you, the player!

I have permission from Hive and NWAvsWWF to use any data I may need from their respective Clash of the Titans & January 1997 mods, with January 1997 most likely being the base. Much like with Main Event, I'm not posting a release date, not even an estimated one, till I get closer to completion. Once this is released, this data will be freeware for anybody to use for any reason they need it for. Wish me luck, folks! :D

<p>For the cuts, I'm thinking of using the Graffiti style cuts this time around. Whereas Organic goes great with the 80s and early to mid 90s, Graffiti seems to go great with the Attitude/Monday Night Wars Era. I've been wanting to make some Graffiti style cuts of my own, anyway, so this would be a good excuse for me to do so. <img alt=":D" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/biggrin.png.929299b4c121f473b0026f3d6e74d189.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p>

EDIT: Found what I was looking for.</p>

I'll probably get started on rosters later this week. I'm thinking of actually doing NWA Southwest first since I'm most familiar with them during this time period as my late grandfather and I went to those shows every Friday night when they were running. I'd make signs mocking the heels and they would get all mad, then the next week when I would stand by the front door to get autographs from workers as they were coming in, those same heels would ask me, "Hey man, got any good signs for us this week?" <img alt=":D" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/biggrin.png.929299b4c121f473b0026f3d6e74d189.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p>

<p>I think I did a bunch of graffiti cuts for this time period and uploaded them somewhere. Of course I still prefer organic, but you are welcome to use the graffiti pack I did for any you want. I think that was a time where I preferred more of the worker on the cut.</p><p> </p><p>

In fact, I may just add gimmicks, moves and move sets as I go along inputting the workers so that the Gimmick, Moves and Move Sets data aren't bloated. And I loved your idea of how you did Alter Egos, and with the 80s Graffiti cuts that Yank made, I'll be sure to put in some 80s alter egos for nostalgia purposes. <img alt=":D" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/biggrin.png.929299b4c121f473b0026f3d6e74d189.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p>

Anybody have any ideal product settings for the WWF and ECW in this time period? On the one hand, I want it to be accurate. But on the other hand, I don't want the WWF not being able to get risky gimmicks over, or guys that were able to get over in ECW despite not being the most talented(ie New Jack) getting negative reactions from a vocal crowd. :-/

A few things I'll be doing different from the Main Event mod:

-While I have imported the moves from Main Event(and will import move sets), I have been working to try and take out any duplicate moves(i.e., moves that are the same except for the spelling). I have also been re-working the Secondary Finishers, so don't be surprised if some moves that have been Secondary Finishers are Finishers when I roll this out.

-Speaking of finishers, I was re-working some so that they can be done onto a chair, through a table, off a ladder, etc., if it is such a move that can be logically done in such matters(and has been done in such matters).

-I'm going to be taking more time putting workers in, looking for things such as Lifestyles, stats, pop and any other small details that get overlooked(race, gender, hair or no hair, etc). Hopefully this makes for a very good database.

-USA and TNT will be the same size. This way, those who really want to immerse themselves into the Monday Night Wars in regards to TV ratings can do so.

-Hopefully soomeone saw my query for product types for WWF and ECW in the Small Questions thread. :p

All this said, this means it'll take longer for this mod to be done. But I'd rather take a long time to do it and have it be good upon release then to rush it and keep having to update it every day for several months.

Well, i don't know if these are ideal, but these are the ones who i'm using for my April 98 mod. Going to change if the people think that these are wrong, of course.

WWF:

I've put 20% for all the matches in AI Booking

Match Ratio 70% for Events and 40% for TV

Minor Matches for Events have 6 Minutes; TV 5.

Medium for Events have 10 Minutes; TV 7.

Main for Events have 16 Minutes; TV 13.

Traditional: Heavy

Mainstream: Key Feature

Comedy: Heavy

Cult: Heavy

Risque: Heavy

Hardcore: Medium

Match Intensity is 20 and Danger is 30.

Women's Wrestling is Integrated, T&A Levels are Low and there is a Face and Heel Divide.

ECW:

Like in all companies, 20% to all matches

90% Matches in Events, 70% on TV

Minor for Events have 7 Mins, TV 6.

Medium for Events have 14 Mins, TV 11.

Main for Events have 22 Mins, TV 16.

Traditional: Medium

Mainstream: Medium

Cult: Heavy

Risque: Heavy

Modern: Heavy

Realism: Medium

Hardcore: Key Feature

Daredevil: Heavy

Match Intensity is 60 and Danger is 80.

Women's Wrestling is Division, T&A Levels are High and there is a Face and Heel Divide.

Hope that it helps, and if there is something wrong, tell me

After the unforeseen circumstances of Alvarasus losing his data, combined with a number of people wanting to see a 1985 mod, and given the fact that an Attitude Era mod has just been released, and two more are in the process of being made, I'm going to put this one on hold while I work on a 1985 mod with the blessing of Alvarasus. He suggested a new name for it(which I'll reveal when I make a hype thread, most likely tomorrow), and it will start in January 1985 like his was going to. I'll be using his 1983 War To Settle The Score as the base for it. While I'll be more focused on the 1985 mod, I will do some work here and there for this Attitude mod so that when I'm done with '85, I can be further along in being close to finishing up this one.
