Breaking News – Shane Sneer resigns!by John Robertson on Monday, Week 4, December 2012

USPW head booker, Shane Sneer has sensationally resigned from his position with effect immediately from midnight 31st December 2012. This comes off the back of a poor run of ratings for their TV show and the lowest Pay Per View buy rate the company has seen since early 2010.

A USPW insider made the following comments “The feeling is that USPW has become a little samey. Over the last two years, we’ve drawn in fans who have never seen our product before. Our loyal fans have watched T-Rex and Enygma fight for the last three years, and it’s always within the USPW constraints. Our new viewers are starting to feel like they’ve seen what they’re seeing now already.”

Critics of Shane Sneer have been quick to blame the aging booker/manager/former commentator for trying to do too much. In fact, it was this very criticism that saw Sneer remove himself from commentary and find a replacement in Queen Emily, now going by the name of Emily McQueen. These critics, however, have not stopped until finally they have gotten what they it appears they've wanted.

There are, of course, rumours that this is not a decision purely down to performance. Sam Strong has never been quick to remove his friends from their position as has been evidenced by USPW not trying to pick up Mitch Naess when DaVE came to an end, and why men like Giant Redwood and Peter Valentine have had title runs in the last three years despite what many deemed to be below par performances.

Early front runners for the role of head booker include Peter Valentine and Giant Redwood for obvious reasons, but also rumours of names from outside USPW have began to pick up pace.

More on this as it develops.

Hot on the heels of Shane Sneers resignation of head booker for USPW comes the announcement that many had expected for a number of years. SCCW, or Southern Championship Class Wrestling, was a company owned and operated by Shane Sneer. This company has now been revived, funded entirely by USPW in order to train wrestlers for them to hire.

This is seen as a potentially huge change in philosophy for USPW as previously, USPW had only looked to sign “roster-ready” workers, or big names from the big two. The opposing view, however, is that USPW training it’s own wrestlers could also lead to a roster filled with Captain USA’s and Jim Forces. Great for moral, great for getting a crowd going to not so good in the ring.

Whatever your view, it is a breathe of fresh air to consider that USPW may well be looking to change it’s tact. Sneer taking over SCCW may not lead to many overly entertaining shows, but young wrestlers have somewhere else to ply a trade without the risk of not being booked.

Just how seriously USPW will take this new venture will only come into a clearer view when the new Head Booker is announced.

USPW hire booking committeeby John Robertson on Monday, Week 1, January 2013

USPW have today announced the team that will hopefully bring them into the 21st century. The team consists of three very specific roles, Head of USPW Creative Direction, Head of USPW Technical Development and Lead Agent.

The role of Head of Creative Direction was advertised as “ to oversee the weekly television and monthly pay per view events and to create compelling viewing for the fans and supporters of United States Pro Wrestling.” This role is essentially head booker, but focusing on the creative aspects of what will happen each week on television and pay per views. He will mainly write the shows and oversee the both long and short term storylines; the man who has been hired for this job? Former CZCW Wrestling head booker, The Guru.

The role of Head of Technical Development is “to oversee the technical development of the wrestlers, managers, personalities, referees and agents of USPW via the use of new signings and the new developmental territory USPW. The head of Technical Development will answer to the Head of Creative Direction and the Owner of USPW in order to ensure continuity in signings and any changes in philosophy as concerns futures USPW Superstars.” This role has been given to and accepted by, Eric Tyler.

Finally, the role of Lead Agent has the responsibility to “lead the Team of Road Agents in their role in helping to put together the matches that make up a large portion of the Television and Pay Per view events. The Lead Agent will answer to the head of Creative Direction and the Owner of USPW to ensure that the matches are rolled out in such a way that the concur with the stories and philosophies as concerns USPW matches.” The new Lead Agent is Ed Monton.

These three men have been charged with changing the future of USPW. The Guru is the man in charge and in truth, Eric Tyler and Ed Monton will work together in order to improve the quality of the in ring product. Shane Sneer will book and run SCCW but will not be responsible for the training of the future stars. That will be left to Monton’s team of agents and Eric Tyler.

The future looks bright for USPW but the question remains; is this really the influence of Sam Strong or the influence of a younger, more forward thinking mind.

If rumours are to be believed, USPW have been in contact with upwards of 50 active workers for their venture into development. It is believed only three of those contacted will go to the full roster straight away with the remainder either being sent to develop in SCCW or to help train the wrestlers. Names such as Steve Flash, and Dread have been surprisingly linked with SCCW as men who will work with young wrestlers to train them.

The Guru, or Manish Patel as he is now being called on the USPW Corporate Website, has been quick to implement the changes that he wished to make, and Sam Strong’s apparent loosening of both his purse strings and his hold on the goings on within USPW seem to be in direct response to an email that leaked earlier today that was due to be sent from Sports America to the USPW owner before it was leaked.

Dear Mr. Strong.

It is with great regret we write to inform you that once again the ratings of USPW American Wrestling have dipped. We have noticed from recent statistics that the figures of both TCW and SWF have started to rise again and we must find a way to buck the trend. Sports America has and will continue to support USPW, but would have to request that you do what you can to improve the situation before we are required to step in. The general feeling is that it would be a shame should you be removed from your position having been such a fantastic ambassador for the company and the business, but your board members hold a duty of care to your shareholders and losing your TV slot would be a cause for concern to those who have invested in your company.

We look forward to hearing any plans you have to change the shows fortunes.

I am genuinely ecstatic at the response I’ve had so far; I’ve been working on this for a few weeks and already have most of my third show written. I get the impression the fans of USPW aren’t going to be your normal IWC fans, but more families, older fans, and fans who love the USA. From the outside looking in, it’s fun to try and represent that whilst moving forward with my story of an evolving world.

Love the layout, and although I'm not that familiar with the cverse, I'm interested in a lot of your characters!!

Really like the colour scheme on the worker pics, adds something unique to it. and Mr. Patel is very hateable! <img alt=":)" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/smile.png.142cfa0a1cd2925c0463c1d00f499df2.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /> Well done!

It’s a huge compliment when you catch the eye of someone who isn’t normally into the C-Verse. That’s what I was like back in the day, I used to try and write real-world diaries and I’d get bored or end up power booking WWE or TNA. The truth is, I’ve found my real joy in the C-verse because that’s the universe the game was designed for. As such, I am to make this diary a real project, one where I try and stick to the values of USPW but at the same time, evolve the company as per the story I have going.

Really great start to this. Good job on giving it a new twist rather than starting off with the "usual" storylines.

Thank you very much; the starting stories are still in there in some ways, but I’ve tried to A) give them some history already (ie. Valentine/Caulfield) and B) try and bring through some new, fresher, stories that might not yet have ben told.

Thank you all so much for your feedback so far.

Trainers for USPW Developmental Promotion, SCCW, hired!by John Robertson on Friday, Week 1, January 2013

The wrestlers and agents that have been hired to help train the next generation of USPW superstars have been revealed. Many of these names will not join up with SCCW until next week when they have fulfilled commitments to their current promotions, whilst others are former names brought back to teach the “traditional” way of working for USPW.

“Mr Americana” Captain USA – The recently retired Captain USA has been sent down to SCCW as a “Promo Coach”. The Cap has been asked to help those who have charisma project it in a family friendly, USPW style.

“The Cruel” Corporal Doom – SCCW Authority figure and also, alongside Captain USA, helping to ready those whose role will involve the use of Menace and Charisma to get over.

Demon Anger – Anger has been brought back to USPW to train workers in the “USPW” way of working, playing to the crowd, getting the fans involved, making matches interactive.

“Pistol” Pete Hall – The 51 year old active wrestler has been hired to improve the basic skills of the workers in SCCW. Many who will have been signed will be raw, plenty of potential but not quite the finished article. Hall will look to improve their general in ring skills.

“The Remarkable” Steve Flash – The Remarkable one has been hired to improve the Performance skills of the SCCW roster. A man about whom it was said “he could wrestle a broom and make it look like a champion”. His experience will be invaluable.

Many believe the final two will be the most important as USPW has rarely been criticised for it’s entertainment value, but more often for it’s in ring action. This again could be another step in the right direction for a company that many believe has been stuck in the past.

This is not, it would appear, the end as concerns the training team within SCCW, these are just confirmed names for the moment.

Where is Dread going? Why was he spotted at the airport? ->

I've been waiting to respond as I was truly enjoying what you were putting together here. The visuals are dynamite and really pull you in. I'm sure it's no shock that I'm a 'visual guy' (as you stated that you are as well). That doesn't mean that you can let your content slip; however, if you put the time and effort in to 'brand' your results/dynasty then there's a greater chance of creating something really great. Kudos to what you've done thus far.

I was shocked to see such a violent end to the first episode. I've always perceived USPW to be a more old-school product. Shoving someone off of a ledge & hanging Sam Strong upside down seems like a pretty crazy scenario. That said, despite my initial thought on the product, I feel it can still be quite powerful (when used in moderation I would think). Either way though, it was an entertaining read; that's for sure.

Best of luck with this. I'll keep poking my head in and reading what you have here (as I genuinely am interested).

I've also booked and written ahead as to ensure that I have plenty of time to create the look as well as the content.

It's interesting that you should raise the point of the violent end to the first episode. I wrestled with the idea before I wrote it out, I wrestled with the idea once I'd written it out. I looked at it from two angles, the first being that actually, having Strong hung by his legs maybe extreme, but it's not overly violent. It plays to Baine's psychotic side without actually SHOWING the violence. Same with the fall; Champion's fall was seen, but not the impact. The violence is hidden behind a veil but the consequences are seen. Although, I think with what I've written for next week's show I muddy those waters too.

Add into the equation the change of direction of USPW, it's not out of the rhelms of possibility that, actually, this could be the start of an edge to USPW that wasn't there before. Manish Patel's character is based on the "reality" of the current state of the C-Verse in this story. Strong is under pressure; he has to improve the ratings and The Guru is using the Patel character to use that pressure to create the ratings the Network want. It's cyclical and that's what I like about the idea.

A big thank you for your continued support.

... You signed Pistol Pete Hall and sent him to train youngsters in developmental? <img alt="" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/eek.png.0e09df00fa222c85760b9bc1700b5405.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" />

I want to be careful not to overload the roster with new faces from the get go. One or two aren't bad but I want to introduce new faces slowly.

Whats more, I want to try and bring in some faces that might not have been seen before in USPW. The idea of creating my own Nicky Champion or Jack Bruce or Wolf Hawkins is something I'm interested in. Pistol Pete Hall training workers will help that.

I'm glad I could envoke a reaction though; no matter what that reaction is!
