WWF '87: A New Power Rises

Recommended Posts

World Wrestling Federation Heavyweight Championship:

Hulk Hogan © vs. "The 8th Wonder of the World" Andre The Giant w/ Bobby "The Brain" Heenan

Hogan retains here to give the however-many-thousand the feel-good moment of the decade.

World Wrestling Federation Intercontinental Championship:

"Macho Man" Randy Savage w/ Miss Elizabeth © vs. Ricky "The Dragon" Steamboat

Savage is ready for the bump up the card, so dropping the title to "The Dragon" will let him head toward Hogan.

Hair vs. Hair:

"Rowdy" Roddy Piper vs. "Adorable" Adrian Adonis w/ Jimmy Hart

Is Piper really leaving you, or just giving him a vacation?

Loser Must Bow to the Winner:

"King" Harley Race w/ Bobby "The Brain" Heenan vs. The Junkyard Dog

Harley can be a good next opponent for Hogan - Ritchardo proved that in the past!

World Wrestling Federation Tag Team Championship:

The Hart Foundation w/ Jimmy Hart © vs. The Can-Am Connection w/ ???

The new manager could be a caveat, but it could also be a red herring. Either way, the Harts aren't ready for solo competition yet, so they should retain the titles.

In other exciting action:

"The Ugandan Giant" Kamala vs. Jake "The Snake" Roberts

Doesn't quite have the same impact as Jake vs Honky, but things happen.

"Hacksaw" Jim Duggan vs. "Mr. Wonderful" Paul Orndorff

Duggan is still fresh, as you pointed out. Which should mean he's still a motivated wrestler.

The Honky Tonk Man w/ Jimmy Hart vs. Tito Santana

Too bad for Tito, he was still a great talent, but it was like his time had passed.

The British Bulldogs vs. The Dream Team

Bulldogs take the win in back-to-back Manias to dismantle Valentine and Beefcake. By the way, Brutus looks SO HORRIBLY ORANGE in your picture. It's almost disturbing.

Hercules w/ Bobby "The Brain" Heenan vs. Billy Jack Haynes

Herc is your new talent, and with the right booking and the right destiny roll could be a big star.

Bonus points (all one point each):

How many titles changes hands? 1

Will anyone turn heel (state who if yes)? Yes; Zenk

World Wrestling Federation Heavyweight Championship:

Hulk Hogan © vs. "The 8th Wonder of the World" Andre The Giant w/ Bobby "The Brain" Heenan

There are moments in time that are pretty much set in stone... this is one of them... I can't see Andre, at this very late stage in his career, carrying the WWF.

World Wrestling Federation Intercontinental Championship:

"Macho Man" Randy Savage w/ Miss Elizabeth © vs. Ricky "The Dragon" Steamboat

A Hogan/Savage feud sooner rather than later could be on the cards, and again, the number of heels on the roster will have a say here too.

Hair vs. Hair:

"Rowdy" Roddy Piper vs. "Adorable" Adrian Adonis w/ Jimmy Hart

Booking logic dictates that Roddy should do the job on the way out but he's not going to like taking the loss and Adrian is a guy that people really seem to struggle to book (myself included).

Loser Must Bow to the Winner:

"King" Harley Race w/ Bobby "The Brain" Heenan vs. The Junkyard Dog

JYD is just garbage and a Race/Steamboat run at the gold would be awesome!

World Wrestling Federation Tag Team Championship:

The Hart Foundation w/ Jimmy Hart © vs The Can-Am Connection w/ ???

I smell a Martel heel turn.

In other exciting action:

"The Ugandan Giant" Kamala vs. Jake "The Snake" Roberts

Jake's the guy who gets people ready for Hogan... but he should still be going over Kamala - maybe a count-out decision to save face and still make him a credible Hogan threat.

"Hacksaw" Jim Duggan vs. "Mr. Wonderful" Paul Orndorff

Can't stand Duggan.

The Honky Tonk Man w/ Jimmy Hart vs. Tito Santana

He's the Jobber to the Stars and damned good too... but Tito's putting Honky over.

The British Bulldogs vs. The Dream Team

Re-match from last year and the same result too.

Hercules w/ Bobby "The Brain" Heenan vs. Billy Jack Haynes

Another potential Hogan hurdle, and Billy Jack is a pain to deal with backstage.

Alright, I am ready for your predictions. Here is how the scoring will break down.

5 points for Hogan/Andre

4 points for Savage/Steamboat

3 points for Piper/Adonis

2 points for Race/JYD

1 point for the rest

Bonus points (all one point each):

How many titles changes hands? 0

Will anyone turn heel (state who if yes)? Yes - Rick Martel

Will anyone turn face (state who if yes)? No

Will anyone debut (state who if yes)? No

Who will be Can-Am's manager? Slick (edited...)

I've changed to Slick although it doesn't quite fit in with what I had in mind for the heel turn (the Cam turning on the Am) but I had noticed Dino being quietly kept strong and thought a little faction might be on the cards.

I probably won't post it for another couple of days. Hopefully I'll get more predictions in that time. Don't forget, the winner of the prediction contest gets to book an undercard match at my next PPV (there are limits to that, obviously).

Part of me is wondering if I should follow the results from the real life card (Where the matches are the same.) but I am pretty sure you would not make those results a carbon copy so I shall see what this ends up like...

World Wrestling Federation Heavyweight Championship:

Hulk Hogan © vs. "The 8th Wonder of the World" Andre The Giant w/ Bobby "The Brain" Heenan

World Wrestling Federation Intercontinental Championship:

"Macho Man" Randy Savage w/ Miss Elizabeth © vs. Ricky "The Dragon" Steamboat

Randy does not need the IC Title. Well Ricky does not really need it either but I think if Hogan is going to retain (Which I think he will) then Randy might be the next logical challenger for the World Title.

Hair vs. Hair:

"Rowdy" Roddy Piper vs. "Adorable" Adrian Adonis w/ Jimmy Hart

The face should always win this type of match in my opinion.

Loser Must Bow to the Winner:

"King" Harley Race w/ Bobby "The Brain" Heenan vs. The Junkyard Dog

I do have to admit I am a bit surprised that so many of the other posters have picked Race but I do think that is the right outcome.

World Wrestling Federation Tag Team Championship:

The Hart Foundation w/ Jimmy Hart © vs. The Can-Am Connection w/ ???

In other exciting action:

"The Ugandan Giant" Kamala vs. Jake "The Snake" Roberts

"Hacksaw" Jim Duggan vs. "Mr. Wonderful" Paul Orndorff

I am not sure Duggan is at the level popularity wise of Mr. Wonderful therefore I do not think he will pick up the win here.

The Honky Tonk Man w/ Jimmy Hart vs. Tito Santana

Tito's job should be well jobbing to the up and coming wrestlers in the promotion.

The British Bulldogs vs. The Dream Team

The Bulldogs should have been facing the Hart Foundation in my opinion but they are not so I pick them to get the win here.

Hercules w/ Bobby "The Brain" Heenan vs. Billy Jack Haynes

They are both druggies so in the long run it may not help you to push either one. I pick Herc because he has the most potential match-up wise in the future. As you could go Herc vs. Hogan for the World Title or Herc vs. Steamboat for the IC Title (That is if Ricky wins the IC Title)

How many titles changes hands? 1

Will anyone turn heel (state who if yes)? Yes, Martel (Who makes a much better heel than face in my opinion)

Will anyone turn face (state who if yes)? Yes, Beefcake

Will anyone debut (state who if yes)? No (But if someone were to debut I think it would probably be Ted DiBiase. I mean you might as well get him before New Japan signs him as they always seem to do in my various saves.)

Who will be Can-Am's manager? I think Jgriff is on to something...Capt. Lou after all he was the man who guided all of those tag teams to the titles in the past.

WWF Tag Team Titles: The Hart Foundation © vs. The Killer Bees

"Hacksaw" Jim Duggan vs. "Cowboy" Bob Orton Jr.

You see, a snake slithers, a snake can blend in with its surroundings, a snake can wait patiently before going in for the kill. You're not trained to handle something like that. While you're out looking for heads to take down, me? I wait until the opportunity is right, then I strike. You go straight after your prey my man. You go for the quick kill. A snake will grab a hold of you at the right moment, wrapping its long body around its prey, slowly squeezing the life out of it.

How will it feel, Kamala, when I attack and you're grasping for air? Here is the latest newsletter.

The Wrasslin' Onlooker

By: Davey "Cheddar" Meltz

Wrestlemania III has come and gone. Reports are saying that it was a solid show and had a good mix of wrestling and storytelling. I will get to the review later, but I wanted to touch on some news that happened after the last newsletter and before Wrestlemania III happened.

First off, Bruno Sammartino has left the WWF and is now under contract for New Japan Pro Wrestling. This explains the TV job he did for Hercules last weekend. Also gone is The Crusher, the company just had no reason to keep him around.

In other WWF news, they have suspended both Butch Reed and Don Muraco 28 days for failing a steroid test. This was a bad time for both of them as they missed being in the preshow battle royal at Wrestlemania III, which would have been a good payday.

Now for the Wrestlemania results:

George Steele won a Pre-Show battle royal last eliminating Hillbilly Jim.

On the main show, Honky Tonk Man over Tito Santana, The British Bulldogs over The Dream Team, Hercules over Billy Jack Haynes, Jim Duggan over Paul Orndorff, The Hart Foundation over The Can-Am Connection to retain the tag titles, Harley Race over Junkfood Dog, Roddy Piper over Adrian Adonis in a hair match, Ricky Steamboat over Randy Savage to win the IC Title, and Hulk Hogan over Andre The Giant to retain the WWF Title.

Match of the night was the IC Title match, the worst match was said to be Paul Orndorff vs. Jim Duggan.

The notable news from Wrestlemania III was the return of Lou Albano, the heel turn of Tom Zenk, the debut of "Exotic" Adrian Street siding with Adrian Adonis, Ricky Steamboat dethroning Randy Savage, and Hulk Hogan being the first person to ever pin Andre The Giant in a WWF ring.

Roddy Piper is confirmed to be done with the company right now, however there is always a chance he will return in the future. Also rumored to be taking time off is Andre The Giant. The big man has been in pain for a while now and since Wrestlemania is done with, he can rest as with the influx of talent coming in, they can afford to do without him throughout the spring/summer.

In other news, the WWF is now switching Superstars of Wrestling and Wrestling Challenge to 2 hour shows starting this weekend. Also, expect a lot of new talent to be debut on TV over the next few weeks.

WMIII was indeed a nice little show, history repeats itself as the IC title match outshines the World. Can't wait to see where you decide to take Savage and Steamboat from here.

A quick question though, how are you dealing with Piper? Did you set him as on hiatus in the editor or something? Because otherwise, he's likely just going to run to New-Japan.

I gave him an extended vacation. That'll give me time to utilize the new guys and see where he fits in down the road.

Well let me tell you people something, when I asked Rick Martel about getting a manager, I expected him to say yes and let me to do the managerial hire. Instead, what did he do? He took his time and before even giving me his answer, he took the opportunity to hire one from behind my back.

Is that anyway to treat a friend? You don't go behind your best friend's back. I mean I wouldn't go behind his back and steal a girl from him. I mean I could easily since I'm more desirable, but that's besides the point! I am a good friend and good friends don't do things like that. Ricky showed his true colors by hiring a manager without MY approval. I didn't just hire a manager without talking to him first, I asked him if he agreed that we should hire one.

And that's not even the worse part. He had the audacity to pick some washed up has been manager in Captain Lou Albano. What has he done lately? Raise money for some charity? Big deal! Look what happened, he stuck his fat pot belly where it didn't belong and he cost me MY chance at becoming a champion! Then it dawned on me that Ricky was never my friend, he was just jealous that I'm younger than him, better looking than him, and more talented than him. He was trying to keep me down on his level. Well no longer will he hold back The Z-Man from becoming an a superstar.

So, let me introduce to you MY manager. A man who is a lot like me, young and on the rise.
