The trials and tribulations of a [wrestler]: Jack Bradburn

Wrestler is in brackets since so far I've started about 5 different games and failed epically. This is the first one I've managed to win a few matches with.

I went for a lot of defensive attributes since it always seems like the opponents just go on massively long chains even though I tend to pick the best countermeasure.

I have 3 trademarks (1 is a duplicate of stump puller since I need a submission finisher for sub matches and can;t have one with my low grappling apparently).

My other trademark is a copy of savage headbutt for first blood matches

3rd is a medium that I made up, pretty weak move but didn't really have any mediums to rely on.

So far I'm 5-0 but they have all but one been too close for comfort.

Storyline "Working the Independent Scene" 4-0

Month: January, 2014

defeated Bad News Bruno via Stunning Face Crusher (18:31) **

defeated Notorious FREAK via Strong Gut Buster (14:57) **

defeated Pierre DuPont via Twisting Face Crusher (14:43) * [i tried to finish him literally 15 times to no avail RAGE]

defeated Harmon Girard via Double Handed Choke Bomb (16:32) **

Storyline "One Wild Month"

Month: February, 2014

defeated Otto Hammerschmidt via DDT through table (19:21) * [Took probably an extra 5 mins to finish since I didn't know how to put him through the table - it's different than WreSpi 2 :p]

Next match is against Bad News Bruno once again, this time around it's a sub match. Notable he is 508 overall, has 780 strength, and a big goose egg 0!! in speed, didn't notice that before haha.

Subs match with Bruno was a bit of a joke. I must have figured him out since our first meeting since it was a complete squash, lasting only 9:02. Subbed him with the "Bradburn'd" a.k.a. the Stump Puller. Used a complete barrage of ground strikes on him since he is very poor there and doesn't really have the speed to avoid/move, although he did a few times. I mostly got the upper hand on him via reversals, I countered 3 of his strikes with other moves, and used move/avoid when he was trying to stomp poor Jack into the mat. All-in-all is was a drubbing and I'll take the XP and the 2-0 on the storyline.

Jack Bradburn defeats Bad News Bruno via Bradburn'd @ 9:02

GIANFRANCO MORELLI vs. JACK BRADBURN

Third match of February is against Gianfranco Morelli, a former member of the tag "Fashionistas." Ok if I don't beat this guy that's just a crime against humanity. Seems to have pretty all-around skills, better on the ground and grappling than anywhere else though. 400 Overall and is a lightweight so I have an advantage for "fall on top" if he wants to start picking me up. This is a TABLES MATCH. Nice thing is I can use my favorite ground move now since he's a twerp: Giant Swing! It doesn't do a lot of damage but it's a cool move and I use it a lot in conjunction with Axe Handle Smash Flurry, and my trademarked copy of Dog-Style Heabutt.

Part way through he went up on the ropes for a flying axe handle and I was like WTF, but then remembered he isn't a tubs <img alt=":p" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/tongue.png.ceb643b2956793497cef30b0e944be28.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" />. He's not putting up much fight and most of his grapples I'm able to break since the huge discrepancy between our strength values (breaking probably 50%). Been hitting massive Giant Swings and Axe Handle Smash Flurry (AHSF) on him to wear him down.

@4:46 he's at 67%, I'm at 87%. I'm hesitant to use certain moves on the little bugger since he has a huge athleticism and ground advantage on me (>300 diff).

@8:45 a DDT opens him up and puts him in danger but now he's blocking almost all my moves, guess he's on to my strategy now <img alt=":(" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/frown.png.e6b571745a30fe6a6f2e918994141a47.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" />. He got control twice but I broke his grapples and took control again both times. Simply grinding him with Giant Swing and AHSF on ground, Cravate, Enuzuigiri Kick, Euro Upper Cut, and mostly Clubbing Blow (my fav haha).

@9:32 he double blocked my Giant Swing/AHSF combo and took control. Went on a tirade of damage and took me down to 78% before I broke his Inverted Atomic Drop. He's at 23% so I'll go get the table soon. He took control once more and gave me a romp but his fate was sealed. Gave him Cravate/DDT combo, went out and got the table, and gave him another Cravate/DDT combo through the table @12:12. 3-0 in this storyline now so far.

Jack Bradburn defeats Gianfranco Morelli via DDT (table) @ 12:12

PIERRE DUPONT vs. JACK BRADBURN

For the final match of February and this gimmick storyline I have to go up against Pierre Dupont. I've already battled him once before without a whole lot of trouble but if it's a subs match it might be more difficult since he has 600 ground and grappling. Fortunately it's a TABLE MATCH. That makes me feel quite a bit better about the match up. He's 440 overall but I massively outweigh him in striking and strength so I'll have to play that up (as usual). He's another lightweight pansy as well so I can use my baby Giant Swing on his grounded carcass.

@6:42 Dupont is a prick. For the first 4ish minutes none of my break attempts worked and he mobbed Bradburn with his low-level crap. Literally 8-10 straight breakable rolls failed. He keeps blocking my Giant Swing/AHSF ground decimation combo so I have to rock the Dog-Style Headbutt, which is fairly affective. He's at 57%, I'm at 81% and on the attack. Three straight breaks helped me turn this around pretty quick. Should be over in the next eight or so minutes.

@8:34 DDT sets Dupont into low health, only a matter of time now. His momentum is buried right now since I've been beating on him since he was in the 60's%. Couple more strings and I'll go get the table. I would just dump him on the outside of the ring but since I have the "fish out of water" attribute I don't want to screw up the opportunity for a positive storyline.

@10:59 Another DDT (second of 5 attempts <img alt=":p" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/tongue.png.ceb643b2956793497cef30b0e944be28.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" />) dumps him into vulnerable after I worked him on the ground with my favorite combo. He took control a few times and got in some shots but barring a miracle he's eukered now.

@11:30 So I went and grabbed the table, came back into the ring. I let him stand and he counters by fighting back. That's probably the thing about WreSpi that makes me rage haha. How does a guy fight back when you let him stand!? Oh well he basically has no hope.

@12:05 I blew him through the table with a Choke Slam of Death after I broke one of his holds. Successful storyline number two. W00t.

Jack Bradburn defeated Pierre Dupont via Choke Slam of Death (table) @ 12:05

Month in Review: February

All-in-all it was a good month. I feel like I know how to work Bradburn in most situations now. Another successful storyline and 400 more XP so I can't complain. I've done some scouting of the wrestlers in Europe and there are some beasts strength-wise so I might have some tougher matchups on the way. I guess I'll deal with that when it comes. Haven't spent any XP since I started; not sure what I'm saving for at this point.

MARCH 2014

Storyline: Rise to the Occasion

Might regret this one taking it already but hey why not, I'm undefeated so far. The "unknown" I have to face is Pierre Dupont once again...

PIERRE DUPONT vs. JACK BRADBURN

@3:59 it's been a stalemate so far, neither of us can get on a run. Dupont keeps avoiding my ground strikes and I haven't gotten on a block streak.

@6:17 got on a roll now. Since Dupont has been slightly troubling I'm now wondering about what the local talent guys are going to be like but oh well, can't go back now. 84% for me, 56% for Dupont. Not worried.

@8:13 keep running low on stamina so I'm going ot the choke hold. Ref is angry with me now. Just moking Dupont at the moment, should be over in short order. Rocking the 1-2 punch of Giant Swing/AHSF. Been on an offensive run for over 3 minutes now.

@16:47 Dupont gave a late rally and kept me from getting enough momentum to land my finisher. Ended up giving him the Stunning Face Crusher for the finish. Little bugger pissed me off, held on too long. Now I'm "worried" about the coming matches against local talent dudes.

Jack Bradburn defeated Pierre Dupont via Stunning Face Crusher @ 16:47 *

ARMAND HARDWICKE vs. JACK BRADBURN

Not really worried about Hardwicke now that I've gotten a look at him. 380 overall and not spectacular in any one category. Crap on the ground and grappling, I have a major advantage in strength. Barring a miracle is should be a cakewalk.

@8:17 it's been pretty back and forth. Hardwicke is a lot better at breaking and countering my moves than some of the others so far. Still nothing to sweat over unless he gets on an unstoppable run. Been giving him the old ground attack demoralization with Giant Swing/AHSF but he keeps breaking up my chains. 73% to 44% still on the attack.

@11:17 finally got on a run and put him into danger/vulnerable. Still at 72% so I have a while to look for a workable finisher and get my momentum up enough to hit. Pretty straight forward.

@15:59 finally landed the stunning face crusher on him after 6 blocked or broken attempts. He got in a couple small runs and took me in the low health area. Glad to get the win, though it was fairly uneventful.

Jack Bradburn defeated Armand Hardwicke via Stunning Face Crusher @ 15:59 *

BIGGER DAN EWE vs. JACK BRADBURN

This match was far more intense than any I've had since January when I was more of a rookie. Ewe has a +180 strength advantage on me and, as a super heavyweight, I was unable to impose my will on him. He ran out of stamina really quickly and by targeting his arms I got his strength down to just over 700 by 8 minutes in, thereby allowing me to use break counters effectively again. Since he has a terrible ground game I basically imposed my will with him down there, although I couldn't use my go-to move in Giant Swing since he is too damn huge. Either way, it worked out in the end and I finished him with the Stunning Face Crusher once again. I look forward to future meeting with this giant.

Jack Bradburn defeated Bigger Dan Ewe via Stunning Face Crusher @ 11:39 *

Month in Review: March

I can't complain with this month either. Another 3 victories and 300xp plus the jump to Local Talent level is nice, although I haven't really earned enough XP to be able to build up Bradburn at all since starting. Hopefully I don't just blow it at the next level.

APRIL 2014

Storyline: Working the Independent Scene

I had the option to take another Rise storyline and take one some Indy Regs but decided against that since I don't even know what I'm going to be up against at that point. Stick with the Local Talent dudes for a month. (note: I might have gone with the other storyline if i had of known I'd only be making the standard 100xp against these local talent dudes like when I was taking on unknowns. Oh well.)

BORIS KIRIYAKIN vs. JACK BRADBURN

Kiriyakin reminds me a lot of Bad News Bruno. 880 strength so that pretty much screws my typical choice of break as a grappling counter but his speed grappling and ground are all around 50, so it's fairly obvious where I'll target him. He's 450 overall, not really sure how this guy got to local talent level despite taking on guys seemingly a lot better talent-wise but whatever. He'll just keep "stinking up arenas with his bland pre-1980's style."

@3:35 completely working Boris at this point. I must be getting good rolls but he has no answer for my attack. Since he's a tub I can't knock him down with moves like Euro Uppercut so I have to rock the old Side Headlock Takedown on him so I can go to work on the ground. With the inability to use Giant Swing I have to use a plethora of different ground strikes and holds. I'm at 97%, he's at 62%.

@7:04 the drubbing continues. A DDT drops him into low health and despite him turning the tables a few times I've countered and remained basically in complete control. Just carrying on at this point. Not sure what finisher I'll use with him, kind of want to diversify from Stunning Face Crusher.

@11:43 finished him with a Super Kick since the only counter for it is avoid and he's slower than a slug. Pretty simple, easy match once again. Maybe the next couple will get a little tougher.

Jack Bradburn defeated Boris Kiriyakin via Super Kick @ 11:43 **

Raised OVR to 385/450 after the Kiriyakin match.

POPPA PUNISHER vs. JACK BRADBURN

Punisher is more all-around than Kiriyakin but is still extremely slow (71) and poor both grappling and on the ground. I also have a strength advantage on him once again; that's been rare recently with all these big tubs.

@4:05 the match started out with him grinding me down to 90% back and forth a lot. Couldn't get anything going on him, he kept avoiding my ground strikes and standing strikes so I put him in the corner and ground him down a bit. Just opened up my good medium ground moves now as he's at 77% so thing should start to swing more in my favor. He is however, doing a good job of avoiding and moving away from my strikes.

@8:05 He's taken me down to 80% now so he keeps trying atomic drops and stuff which I can easily slip out of since his grappling is 240 lower than mine. Because of this I've managed to take the upper hand now but he is still avoiding my Senton's and AHSF on the ground. Wish I could use Giant Swing! Just broke him into Low health so probably another 6 minutes left in him.

@10:32 busted him open with a second DDT. He took control for a bit and whooped my arse in the corner for a few minutes before I broke the old 10 Turnbuckle Smashes. Got him into the danger zone now with the last DDT so I'm starting to look for a good finisher meow.

@14:02 gave him the old Gutwrench Inverted Piledriver and pinned him handily. He took control twice more and put me back in the corner where he imposed his will since I was unable to break a lot of his moves being so close in strength. Had to work the finisher a few times before being able to hit it.

Jack Bradburn defeated Poppa Punisher via Gutwrench Inverted Piledriver @ 14:02 *

JOAO VICENTE A.K.A. SUPER FALCON vs. JACK BRADBURN

This should be interesting since he's a lightweight and cruiserweight style. So he'll be looking for top rope moves and stuff which generally pisses me off since they tend to be hard to counter. His skills aren't particularly impressive but he is well rounded. 490 overall and has 600+ speed and athleticism. I have a +360 advantage in strength so I should be able to break at will but should be interesting.

@4:34 just opened up my medium moves with a Clubbing Blow. His speed advantage is killing my striking and the match is pretty close at the moment. 86% me, 80% him. He hasn't tried anything too crazy yet and only uses a few breakable grapples which makes regaining control tough.

@9:34 just broke him into low health via ground grinding but he's a slippery customer with his high speed being able to avoid a bunch of my go-to moves. He takes control often for short spurts and I'm down to 61% atm; he's at 43%

@11:19 DDT (surprise, it's my favorite high-level move :p) broke him into danger (24%). I went on a 2 minute rampage now and his momentum is buried. My stamina keep running red so I have to rock the old cravate-face rake 1-2 haha. Still a dangerous dude though, have to pick my moves carefully so he doesn't have max chance to counter.

@14:22 Hit a Face Crusher on him (since it can't be Avoided) but the referee was out of position and he kicked after 2! rage haha.

@15:46 I hit a second Face Crusher on him and couldn't get the pin so I rocked the Gutwrench Inverted Piledriver on him since it has a higher CoW but the same counter characteristics as the Face Crusher. It worked finally.

Jack Bradburn defeats Joao Vicente via Gutwrench Inverted Piledriver @ 15:46

CANNONBALL LOGAN vs. JACK BRADBURN

Logan is basically a poor-mans version of Vicente. Lightweight with a cruiserweight style. He doesn't have any particularly awesome skills and none that would negate the ability to counter. I'll be looking for a pile of breaks since I have an overwhelming strength advantage (+440) let alone the different in size.

@2:21 he started on the attack and hit a couple moves that I could only avoid (Monkey Flip mostly) but I took control back with a break and a slip out and have been whooping him. 97% to 79% and still attacking. Unleash Giant Swing and AHSF!

@5:18 starting to go back and forth now more. I keep bracing his strikes and gaining control (low-level). Just slipped out of a Running Face Smash to take control back. 93% to 60%.

@9:52 he went postal on me and dumped me down to 72% after he broke a DDT :(. He's trying top rope crap now. Gained control back for the time being. He avoids almost all my ground moves now which is frustrating and he doesn't use many moves that I'm able to efficiently counter.

@11:53 took him down to 30% with a DDT but now apparently I have a sore neck after he hit a Monkey Flip on me haha.

@13:44 he's pretty well done now. Busted him open with a Dog-Style Headbutt on the ground and he's in vulnerable range. Still deciding on a suitable finisher. Probably a version of a Face Crusher...

@16:30 finished him after about 7 finisher attempts with my go-to Stunning Face Crusher. Another easy win, another successful storyline. Starting to get bored :(

Jack Bradburn defeats Cannonball Logan via Stunning Face Crusher @ 16:30

Month in Review: April

I guess I should have gone with the Rise to the Occasion storyline because, like the majority so far, was really easy. I don't want to lose per say but don't really care either. See what I'm offered for upcoming storylines.

Upcoming Storylines:

Europe vs. USA

Rising to the Challenge

Taking it Easy

Working the Independent Scene

If anyone is reading, which storyline should I pick???

Thanks Condors for your input!

MAY 2014

I decided on Rising to the Challenge since I want more of a challenge in the matches. I looked through the active indy wrestlers in Europe at Indy Regular popularity and they don't seem to be that bad. Most should pose a more significant threat which is good. AND Condors wanted me to do this and well I'm willing to do whatever would be fun so here we go.

Storyline: Rising to the Challenge

ARLO COSTA vs. JACK BRADBURN

Costa is a good all-arounder with high strength and no glaringly obvious weaknesses. Since he's blind in one eye I plan to go after the side of the body he is blind haha.

That match was a nail-biter. It was back and forth the whole time, he kept avoiding all my stuff which is strange considering his crappiest skill is speed. We were both vulnerable but I had control so I tried 3 Stunning Face Crushers, all of which he broke. (Note: An earlier DDT has split him open) I went for the Superkick and he avoided RAGE. The superkick KO'd the ref so I had to regain control and wait around the ref to wake the heck up. In the meantime I hit another DDT that split him open even more so I decided to work the blood DQ so when the ref got back up I might get the instant win. I piled on the Savage Headbutt's, Knee Drops, and Dog-Style Headbutt and had him a bloody mess before the ref got back up. Hit one more Savage Headbutt and the ref called it thank god. I avoided/broke 3 of his high level moves and managed to break a finisher. Too close for comfort but I guess I asked for it with picking this storyline.

Jack Bradburn defeated Arlo Costa via Medical DQ @ 24:00 *

RONNY DE VEUSTER vs. JACK BRADBURN

De Veuster doesn't seem to be anything special. I have advantages in strength (+440) and he's a lightweight cruiserweight style so if he tries to lift me I'll just fall on him. His speed is nothing to write home about and he has small advantages on Bradburn in grappling and ground skills. Not too concerned, or not as concerned as I was about Costa <img alt=":p" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/tongue.png.ceb643b2956793497cef30b0e944be28.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" />

Jobbed De Veuster. He managed to avoid and roll through some of my ground moves and blocked a bunch of early finishers but in the end I gave him the old Double Handed Choke Bomb for the pin. He hit a lot of low-level moves early on and took me down to 72% but that was all he could muster.

Jack Bradburn defeated Ronny De Veuster via Double Handed Choke Bomb @ 12:24 *

Overall raised to 395 after De Veuster match.

MANUEL DIAS vs. JACK BRADBURN

Dias is meh. He has good speed (560) but is 485 overall. Should be able to work him with my big strength advantage but his speed will be troubling with strikes and ground strikes. He is another lightweight cruiserweight so I can fall on him and should be able to brace some low-level strikes.

Dias was a frustrating little man in this match. He avoided probably 50% of my moves on the ground (where I do the majority of my grinding) and was extremely hard to get a chain going against. A DDT got him vulnerable and I slammed an unexpected Bradburn'd (AKA Stump Puller) on his ass and he tapped. Couldn't be more glad of it either.

Jack Bradburn defeated Manuel Dias via Bradburn'd @ 13:06 **

Overall raised to 405 after Dias match.

GUNTHER KINSHI vs. JACK BRADBURN

Kinshi seems like a plug with too high of popularity. He has no real advantages to speak of.

Despite having a pretty bland skill set Kinshi was actually quite a challenge. Like Costa he took me down to vulnerable and KO'd the ref. A couple DDT's opened him up so I went with the same method of attack as with Costa. I used only blood moves after that - mostly Savage Headbutt which he couldn't as readily counter. Shortly after the ref woke up, which was like 6 minutes, he DQ'd Kinshi. All-in-all this was probably my second toughest match thus far.

Jack Bradburn defeated Gunther Kinshi via Medical DQ @ 10:24 *

Month in Review: May

Can't complain once again. These guys were tougher than anyone I've faced before, excluding my first month when I was still pretty much figuring out how to work matches with Bradburn effectively. I thought I might grow in popularity after that but I didn't <img alt=":(" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/frown.png.e6b571745a30fe6a6f2e918994141a47.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" />. Oh well, on to more things.

Storyline: TableMania

I thought this would be an interesting storyline and would give me a chance to work on my skills a bit more before jumping up to the next popularity level. I didn't do a match-by-match analysis for this month (or for July) since part way through I realized it was kind of a wash. These matches were easy jokes.

Jack Bradburn defeated Herschel the Hammer via DDT (through table) @ 12:14 **

-Herschel was probably the highest level wrestler I've faced so far and this one was fairly close. I was almost Vulnerable when I put him through the table. It was an ify situation but I got er done.

JULY 2014

Storyline: The Rivalry

I'm just trying different storylines at this point. Originally when I clicked on it, it said I'd be facing Poppa Punisher, who I remember was fairly tough. However, after I went to the first match screen it was Armand Hardwicke! To say the least I dominated his ass, finished him in 3:12 in one of the matches. A huge mismatch to say the least with Armand but what do ya do?

1v1 Tables

Jack Bradburn defeated Armand Hardwicke via DDT (through table) @ 9:28

1v1 Hardcore

Jack Bradburn defeated Armand Hardwicke via Double Arm DTT @ 9:20

-Being my first hardcore match I went all-out. Ever shot I gave him from the point where I opened up my medium-level moves was either a chair shot or onto a chair. The finishing Double Arm DTT was also onto a chair <3 hardcore matches <img alt=":p" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/tongue.png.ceb643b2956793497cef30b0e944be28.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" />

1v1 Cage

Jack Bradburn defeated Armand Hardwicke via extreme blood loss @ 3:12

-I took massive advantage of having the cage and used it wherever I could. Unfortunately he got DQ'd! I wanted to ascend from the cage but it wasn't to be. Oh well, the complete decimation of Hardwicke continues.

1v1 First Blood

Jack Bradburn defeated Armand Hardwicke bloodied after a DDT @ 7:15

-Yeah, this was a forgone conclusion since I've developed the knack for move combos that draw blood. It's my go-to strat against guys that are pummeling me.

1v1 Last Man Standing

Jack Bradburn defeated Armand Hardwicke as he couldn't beat a ten count via Stunning Face Crusher @ 15:56

-This match was kinda fun because I literally had to kill Hardwicke to get him to fail on the ten count. Still though, no challenge.

After these two months of complete drubbing and very few moment where I was in trouble I decided to take one of the three offers I got from the three Small-level promotions in Europe. I decided to sign with EWA since the description says it is modeled after SWF! Going to be interesting, at least I hope it will be more interesting than decimating these low-level dudes.

AUGUST 2014

Storyline: A Beginning...

Pumped to get underway in this new promotion and build my popularity and (hopefully) get some more XP to hone my craft a bit.

Somewhere in here I brought my overall up to 425/450

CRUSHER VON STEINBERG vs. JACK BRADBURN

This is a 1v1 Hardcore match. Crusher has a 500 overall, probably the highest of anyone I've face before except for maybe Herschel. He seems to be well-rounded and has high enough strength that he could break some of my stuff. He has a +100 on me in striking but with with 33 speed he shouldn't be able to use avoid/move a whole lot. He's fairly human in everything else.

Steinberg has been my toughest match to date easily. Based on his skillset I didn't really expect this match to be super challenging but he is the "real deal" at this level. It was extremely frustrating because I had to step outside my typical comfort zone on the ground and go to some moves I've either never or rarely used. He avoided a lot of my strikes and could either break or roll through a lot as well. We were both trying to drop finishers at the end, although I started that tirade first. It was epically close in the end and after I hit him with 2 lower CoW finishers to no avail I had to go to my staple Stunning Face Crusher. I bet I tried 10 finishers on him... This match was a lot more interesting than any of the others thus far but not necessarily fun since he would chain me like mad but only using low-level stuff. Oh well. 28-0 to this point in my career.

Jack Braburn defeated Crusher Von Steinberg via Stunning Face Crusher @ 18:26 *

-There was a secondary objective with this match as well. I had to get him vulnerable and into low momentum. When I finally hit a finisher on him I was high and he was next-to-empty. So I got that objective and it gave me the Heart of a Warrior perk.

KRUGE THE EXECUTIONER vs. JACK BRADBURN

I can't believe Kruge is a rookie... He has a staggering +139 strength advantage on me. His ground and grappling skills are nothing to write home about but are still serviceable for a man his size. Unlike most of these big tubs he actually has decent speed (287) which may be troubling since even Steinberg who has a big ole 33 in speed could avoid/move on my moves >.> so at this point I'm doubting my chances in this one but who knows. So far skills don't seem to be everything. I've faced guys that should be a cake walk on paper and give you a tougher challenge than a guy with twice the skills. Still only 100 XP <img alt=":(" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/frown.png.e6b571745a30fe6a6f2e918994141a47.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" />. This is a 1v1 Hardcore match as well.

@4:04 Kruge is the real deal and is kicking my ass. I'm at 68%, he's at 79% and I just got the control back after like a 20-move run by the big oxen-like human from South America. He braces almost all my low-level strikes and I haven't been able to get him to the ground yet since he can break my moves at will it seems.

@6:17 I got on a good run now. Brought him down to 47% and so far he hasn't been able to muster any defense. Hit an Inverted Atomic Drop, Enuzigiri Kick, and some AHSF on the ground, Salf Senton etc. Typically in those long spans of medium moves these guys will counter something but fortunately nothing thus far. Continuing attack meow...

@7:05 He momentarily took control for a few moves before I avoided a Stomp Flurry. Cravate/Enuzigiri Kick got him low and I hit a DDT. Seems like I have the upper hand now, or at least a little bit of room for error at the moment. This is kinda stressful.

@8:26 Second DDT, after beating the living crap out of him on the ground, put him in vulnerable range. Only have to wear him down a bit more then fail at hitting finishers for about 10 minutes and the match will be over.

@11:13 F****** bugger just wrecked me. I'm @43% now after a complete series of being mauleddddddd. Bugger hit a powerbomb on me and now I'm low. Gotta get this done NOW.

@12:47 Broke another powerbomb and got control. Beat him up a bit then Cravate/DDT combo and took him to 9%. While he was down I decided to try my trademarked Stump Puller, Bradburn'd but the bugger escaped <img alt=":(" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/frown.png.e6b571745a30fe6a6f2e918994141a47.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" />. I know it's going to take me at least 3-4 tries to get him in a Stunning Face Crusher so I'm going to have to try something else >.>.

@12:58 I went through my available finishers and all of them could be broken except Animalistic Spear (which I've never had success with) and SuperKick so I went with the latter. It hit first try.

Even though it was only a 2* match it was fricken awesome. Not that I necessarily want to lose, since successful storylines are the key, but Kruge is a straight-up beast. Kind of makes me consider moving up a weight class if I'm going to be taking on all of these tubs. At least then I'd have a higher chance of falling on top of some of their lifting moves. Especially when I'm apparently at the level of wrestling now where guys are using powerbombs as much as I use DDT's <img alt=":p" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/tongue.png.ceb643b2956793497cef30b0e944be28.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" />.

Jack Bradburn defeated Kruge the Executioner via SuperKick @ 12:58 **

BAS HAGEN vs. JACK BRADBURN

Holy crap a fellow Light Heavyweight! haha. I think (I can't remember) this guy is the first actual LHW I've faced. He doesn't seem to be anything special. Ground and grappling are fairly low (under 200), strength is meh at 600 something, good striking (515) but only 450 overall. 1v1 Hardcore match once again.

@8:20 So things were going well. I was, for the most part, having my way with Hagen and then out of nowhere Anders Thunder runs in and does a Running Power Slam on me. Taking me below medium-level and losing control. I'm going to find that punk and rip his arm off >.>

@12:16 we're pretty much even right now after the outside interference. I can't get any momentum or chain anything on him. Broke one of his DDT's but can't hit any higher-level stuff on him. RAGE.

@17:19 FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF. This is crappppp. I can't hit a finisher to save my life or get control. He smashes me with a Brass Knuckles Punch and apparently my Heart of a Warrior kicked in and saved me as I kicked out at the last second.

@19:15 I'm raginggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggg fricken bull. Blocked/broke every possibly finisher I've ever had and hits his second attempt at a double arm. Piece of friggen crap.

Bas Hagen defeated Jack Bradburn via Double Arm DDT @ 19:15 ***

So I lost my first match to a chump because of interference and wrecked probably my most important storyline so far.

ANDERS THUNDER vs. JACK BRADBURN

I'm glad I get the chance to get revenge with this match. I'm going to use Anders as a mop and run him all over the ring...He has high strength but other than that is pure crap.

@3:16 basically been jobbing this meddling punk. Brought him down to mid 70's% and hit a Ground Dog-Style Headbutt and busted his ass open.

Basically imposing my will on him. He only took me down as far as 70% and I finished the piece of crap with with a Super Kick.

Jack Bradburn defeated Anders Thunder via Super Kick @ 14:52*

Month in Review: August

Well, this month pretty much completely sucked. I was on a roll and was hoping to grow in popularity but maybe I jumped up too early skill-wise to compete at the next level. I got beat by a chump and want revenge. This storyline was a wash since I'm pretty sure neutral outcomes do nothing for you and I didn't earn any extra XP by joining a promotion so it's pretty useless. Oh well, only nine more months of this <img alt=":p" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/tongue.png.ceb643b2956793497cef30b0e944be28.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" />

Sounds like a fun story. Winning isn't always everything, especially in games like these were - imo - immersion is key (though WreSpi might be an exeption from TEW and WMMA as it's more performance-based). People are trained to expect noticable output for everything they do in a game. It shouldn't be like that.

WreSpi is a different animal where you have to win in a typically entertainment-based industry. It was a good month, the loss just wrecked my storyline is all. Oh well, Bradburn will continue on.

Pretty blah matches but I managed to post a comeback of sorts following the neutral result of my first EWA storyline. This opened up more storyline options and the XP allowed me to jump my overall up to 445/450.

New storyline for october is "Build-up Feud" with Anders Thunder. 3 set-up matches take place before the final 1v1 2/3 falls match.

Month: October

Storyline: Build-Up Feud w/Crusher Von Steinberg

CRUSHER VON STEINBERG & ANDERS THUNDER vs. JACK BRADBURN & KRUGE THE EXECUTIONER

This was an interesting match since I've rocked both of my opponent before in all attempts. However, with Kruge on my side I figured this would be a cakewalk. I took down Steinberg to vulnerable and he tagged to Thunder who beat the crap out of me. I tagged to Kruge at the next opportunity and Anders Thunder treated him like a punching bag. He tagged back in a few minutes half-done and Thunder pumped me for a bit, then tagged to Von Steinberg who finished me with the Mindcrusher. The whole match was a drubbing and we lost fair and square. Fortunately the 4th and final match of this storyline is all that matters for the successful result.

Crusher Von Steinberg & Anders Thunder defeated Jack Bradburn & Kruge the Executioner via Mindcrusher @ 17:58 **

CRUSHER VON STEINBERG & ANDERS THUNDER & BAS HAGEN vs. JACK BRADBURN & KRUGE THE EXECUTIONER & BULLDOG JACK

I actually maintained control of Kruge and Bulldog this time and we squashed these guys. I don't think either of the 3 of us were below 70% and they were all vulnerable and had finisher attempts done on them. In the end Bradburn wore Von Steinberg down from 99-9% and couldn't finish him so he tagged Hagen in and I kept Bradburn in and took him down all the way and finished his ass with a stump puller. Poor Kruge never saw any action <img alt=":(" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/frown.png.e6b571745a30fe6a6f2e918994141a47.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" />. I don't think he minded.

JACK BRADBURN vs. ANDERS THUNDER

This proved to be a tougher match than the other times I faced Thunder. I don't remember all the details but we were both down to 0% health and were breaking finisher attempts at the end. I snuck out with the victory on this one, but it was close.

Jack Braburn defeated Anders Thunder via Fireman's Carry Whiplash Slam @ 19:17

JACK BRADBURN vs. CRUSHER VON STEINBERG

This match was 2/3 falls and typically is a good time to go for a high match rating but I don't really care. This is the only important match of the storyline so I don't care at all about the match rating and went right for him and tried to get the two falls as soon and simply as possible. It was back and forth for the majority of the match but he never got me vulnerable. I hit a first-attempt Super Kick and then a few minutes later hit a Stunning Face Crusher for the victory and a successful storyline.

With another successful storyline I feel like I'm back on track now. I had the chance for Taking It Easy, Tag, and another feud/rivalry storyline but I decided to go with Competitive Edge. I'll be facing EWA midcarders for 150 xp per match. Of note I also signed "Elle" as my manager in the last storyline.

He's under 100 in grappling, ground, and speed so I guess I'll work that a bit as my approach to this match. He has insane spirit (compared to mine) 604 so he might block everything I ever try but what the hey, giv'r a whorl.

@3:30 I started on the attack and so far we've been trading a few moves at a time. He either braces most of my low-level stuff or blocks it, as expected. I haven't really given him the opportunity to use break since that's pretty much a foregone conclusion. I kind of put myself up against it in this match but I did it to myself. He's at 80%, I'm at 83%. I don't think I used the same move twice, in hopes that by mixing it up he wouldn't be able to counter as effectively <img alt=":p" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/tongue.png.ceb643b2956793497cef30b0e944be28.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" />

@5:56 Things are still pretty even at this point. I'm at 66%, he's at 59%. The only time I can regain control is via avoid, which is hitting rather easily thanks to my speed advantage (probably my only one). I'm picking moves that have few counters and are mostly avoid, to play up that advantage in speed. So far so good I suppose but it could all go to hell in an instant I feel like.

@6:08 Enuzigiri Kicks and Savage Heabutt spamming is the extent of my standup. I split him open now. The fans are also cheering for me. Still very much up in the air.

@8:31 He is raping me now. He just took control so this might be my last poessession haha.

@11:35 He has no stamina left. We're both vulnerable me at 5%, him at 4%. Hopefully the 40% reduction in CoH from red/no stamina helps me avoid whatever his finisher is. I slipped out of 3 of his moves and avoided AHSF but I can only get in like one move before he breaks or avoids.

@12:28 Slipped out of a Powerbomb and Shoulderbreaker but he avoided my second Super Kick attempt <img alt=":(" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/frown.png.e6b571745a30fe6a6f2e918994141a47.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" />. He's 473 overall. I won't be able to effectively use break as a counter against him. Having Heavy Load might work in my favor for falling on top however since he's the same size as me. 160 speed vs. my 400 so I should be able to avoid/move a bit. Going to be interesting.

@2:40 It's pretty even thus far. 89% vs 86% he has braced 2 of my strikes and broke a Cravate. He's on the attack meow.

@8:52 It was REALLY back and forth for a couple minutes then I went on a 4 minute run of terrorization somehow. I kept running low on stamina and had to spam Rear Chinlocks, Cravates, and Top Wrist Locks since he blocked every other one. AHSF, Giant Swing, and Enuzi Kicks FTW. I'm at 83%, he's at 40%. Missed a Half Senton, he takes control.

@12:12 He's down to 22% now after 2 DDT's and some ground destruction. I need to see if there a more no effort ground moves. Everytime I get red stamina on the ground I have to go with Rear Chinlock and if that's not enough I have to let them stand for Cravate or TWL.

@14:29 Slipped out of a Stump Piledriver to regain control. After another DDT he's down to 13%, I just hit low at 45%. Should be setting up for finisher shortly.

@15:49 He avoided a Super Kick and I couldn't get back to blue stamina after 2 Cravates and a TWL (weird). So he broke and other Cravate and re-took control >.>

Jack Bradburn defeated Paolo Gandalfini via Stump Puller (Bradburn'd) @ 17:16 *

It was a good match, back and forth drama. Not as stressful as with Jakub Krawcyzk, that's for sure. I tried 2 Super Kicks and couldn't get him stunned while standing so I tried the good ole Stump Puller since he's only 473 overall.

Spent 360 on +10 Spirit. Now 310/400.

JACK BRADBURN vs. SEBASTIAN KOLLER

Koller is a good all-around middleweight. 555 overall rating and 400+ in everything else. Strength is 460 so I should be able to break and can fall on top of Koller. Speed is 450 so I CAN avoid/move, though not at will. He's good at striking and grappling. I dunno how this one will go but I've come this far.

@5:21 I'm getting destroyed... I should be able to break at will but can't. 7 straight break rolls failed... I'm at 57%, he's at 79% he's still on the attack. Bull. Fans are booing because they want to see Koller take punishment, not give it <img alt=":p" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/tongue.png.ceb643b2956793497cef30b0e944be28.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" />

@8:06 I'm low now @43%, he's at 59%. I got a few breaks finally but he's still romping me. I can't do anything with him on the ground which is unfortunate. He avoids a lot of my moves standing as well. Going to have to change gears meow.

@10:43 Been going back and forth now. Got him to low finally (40%), I'm at 23% :S

@11:36 A cycle including 2 hit DDT's take him into danger health 14%, still on the attack for the moment. Broke my Stunning Face Crusher.

@12:54 Broke his DDT, he blocked my SFC, Cravate, then broke another SFC. Broke a Top Wrist Lock. Tried Face Crusher, and another Stunning Face Crusher. Blocked both...

@14:05 Avoided a Super Kick (surprise!). Can Koller be finished?

@14:39 Moved on a Knee drop and took control once again. I'm at 13%, he's at 2%. Waited for him to stand, he fights back. How does he fight back when I LET him do it... Probably the most frustrating bug with this game.

@15:00 He hit a Belly to Belly Suplex then I broke something, can't remember what. He fights back to letting him stand once again. F.

@15:33 Got control by fighting back when he tried to PICK ME UP, not LET ME STAND. Then he rolls through a cravate...

@16:01 He hits a Swinging Neckbreaker, I break his Stunning Face Crusher. Cravate, Stunning Face Crusher... It hits! Finally.

Jack Bradburn defeated Sebastian Koller via Stunning Face Crusher @ 16:30 **

That was freaking stressful, frustrating as well, but fun. Glad I got the win to say the least. One more for a successful storyline and hopefully a jump up to Indy Regular. Surprised it was only a ** match. That match also gives me 40 wins. 40-2 so far.

JACK BRADBURN vs. KRONOS

Back to the tubs with big heavyweight cronos. He has, expectedly, monstrous strength at 860, 480 overall. Nothing really special otherwise, 70 speed and crappy ground/grappling. That's good. Won't be able to break or fall on top though, just avoid/move.

@3:53 Back and forth with low-level stuff. He tried to brace a lot of my low stuff so I had to use some of the more damaging moves. He took control a few times and took me down to 81%, he's at 76% and I just regained control.

@4:52 Hit a Neckbreaker, DAHSF, Half Senton, Seated Dropkick, then he avoided my Back Seated Dropkick. Took him down to 53%. Avoided Slap to Chest and took control again.

@5:28 Discus Punch puts him down, DAHSF put him into low health. Avoided my Seated Dropkick and he takes control. He hit a Knee Lift and I moved on his Splash. Back in control.

@6:47 Hit a Half Senton, Rolling Senton, DAHSF, Snap Driving Elbow, Running Senton, DAHSF put him into danger health (17%).

@7:31 Completely wrecking him on the ground. Hit a chain of Posing Elbow Drop, Measured Knee Drop, Leaping Elbow Drop, Seated Dropkick...10 move chain thus far. Spoke too soon he avoided my Stomp Flurry. Avoided his Running Shoulder Block and regain control.

@7:56 Avoided my Super Kick. Doubled blocked a Rope Assisted Choke Hold and Knee Lift, regain control. Avoided second Super Kick attempt. Moved on his Legdrop after he hit a few low moves. Try and finish him again.

@11:36 After a bunch of back and forth he avoided yet another Super Kick... Fall on top of Overhead Fallaway Slam, Cravate, Stunning Face Crusher hit at 12:14.

Jack Bradburn defeated Kronos via Stunning Face Crusher @ 12:19 **

Spent 250 XP to get overall up to 450/450

Month in Review: November

I feel like I had a lot of luck this month in getting the successful storyline. I remain at Local Talent level however, which probably isn't a bad thing considering how much tougher these guys were. None of these matches posed a particular problem. To say the least I was glad to get through yet another storyline successful and finish the year off on a high note. Jumped to Indy Regular (midcard of EWA).

END OF YEAR 1

Overall Record: 44-2

Storylines: 11,0,1

Awards: 0

Power 500 Rank: Unranked

Can't complain about that result for a rookie year. My best match of the year was a *** against Bas Hagen. I didn't get much of an opportunity to bring up my skills but I should be making more XP now so that should help out. Now that I've jumped up in popularity I have another 100 to add to overall and 180 to spirit. It's possible that I've jumped up too early but I guess I'll find out in the near future. I'm considering finishing out my contract with EWA and moving to a different game area. Although EWA is a nice-looking fed and all that, I kinda want to jump to Canada or the US.
