Rumble in the South kicked off with Sheik Mustafa and Krusher Karloff already in the ring. As usual, Karloff was clad in his red singlet, holding the Soviet flag idly in one oversized fist and the SCCW Heavyweight Title in the other, while Mustafa wore his traditional flowing, floor-length robe and keffiyeh head-covering. It was Mustafa who took the microphone. “Last month, your infidel hero, Jesse Christian, faced the power of Mother Russia. And he lost. This man,” Mustafa slapped a swarthy-skinned hand on Karloff’s massive fair-skinned chest, “exploited American weakness. Now, Jesse Christian, I hear you want another shot at his belt. It will not happen. Instead, Krusher Karloff will make an example of another American weakling right now!”

Non-Title Match: ‘The Hardcore American’ Chris Caulfield v. Krusher Karloff w/Sheik Mustafa

Billy’s Take:

Chris Caulfield ran down to the ring to kick off this alliterative matchup, tossing his red, white, and blue bandana into the crowd as he slid in to attack the Russian monster. Caulfield took the early advantage, clearly stunning the behemoth with powerful right hands and kicks to his tree trunk-like legs. Karloff went down to one knee and seemed to be in danger of being upset. But when Caulfield went in for the kill, Karloff flipped him into the turnbuckle and then crushed him in the corner with a vicious Karloff Krush for the win.

Whistler walked down to the ring while the Marine Corps Anthem played, his neck still bandaged from the attack levied on him by Sheik Mustafa two months prior. His t-shirt this month read “Semper Fidelis.” The music cut and Johnny Lawless held the microphone. “Whistler, I understand that you have something to say concerning Sheik Mustafa, who severely damaged your larynx with that foreign object in the Wrestle Bowl.” “Damn right I got somethin’ to say,” Whistler began hoarsely. “Every time Sheik Mustafa comes out here to run his mouth, he not only badmouths me, but he mocks this country.” A ‘U…S…A…’ chant spread through the arena. “I can take him speakin’ bad about me, but no one talks bad about the stars and stripes! Billy’s Take:

Ruiz came out first, flanked by his manager Shane Sneer and wearing a thin gray hoodie pulled over his shaved head. Williams came out next, high-fiving fans at ringside. Inside the ring, this was a terrific match – clearly SCCW’s best to this point. Williams brawled in a very old-school manner while Ruiz utilized a series of submission holds and mixed-martial arts-like strikes and kicks. In the end, Williams went up top for a shoulder block, but missed, allowing Ruiz to lock in the painful Ruiz Wrench, to which Williams quickly tapped.

Jesse ‘The Power’ Christian v. The Gambler w/‘The Trouble from Taylor Mill” Henry Bennett

Billy’s Take:

Prior to the match, Henry Bennett – wearing a bright Kentucky Wildcats t-shirt – announced that he was no longer to be known as the ‘Trouble from Tennessee,’ but that he’d defected to Kentucky and wanted to be called ‘The Trouble from Taylor Mill.’ The crowd booed, though I’m sure none knew where Taylor Mill was (except that it was obviously in Kentucky). His tag team partner, the Gambler, seemed hyped for his match against the local hero Jesse Christian, though he deflated somewhat when ‘Rocky Top’ played over the loudspeaker and the crowd went crazy. Inside the ring, The Gambler tried to control the match and took it to ‘The Power’ in the early going. But the muscular Christian turned the tide with a series of impressive power moves and finished off the match with a Tennessee Torture Rack for the win.

Boss McAlister strutted out to the ring, swinging his silver-handled cane and tipping his white cowboy hat to a particular disgusted-looking female fan sitting at ringside. As always, accompanying him was Blackjack McAlister and Whisky Jack McAlister. “Tonight,” Boss drawled into the microphone, “the McAlisters win them tag team titles. That’s right Skinners, we’re fixin’ to take them belts from y’all and bring ‘em back to where they oughta reside – in the big house on Hog’s Hollow hill. There’ll be no more gold for the trailer park trash once the McAlisters lock in the patented McAlister Armbar!” Blackjack and Whisky Jack nodded in agreement, looking menacing (or at least slightly intoxicated) from behind their Uncle Boss.

Tag Team Title Match: The Skinner Brothers (Matty Skinner/Dukie Skinner) w/Jakki Skinner © v. The McAlister Clan (Blackjack McAlister/Whisky Jack McAlister) w/Boss McAlister

Billy’s Take:

The McAlisters took the early part of this match, clearly working on the arm of Dukie Skinner – apparently preparing to lock in their patented, erm, armbar. In fact, Whisky Jack did manage to hook Dukie in the armbar, and the smaller Skinner screamed in pain. But he was close enough to grab the ropes and I forced a break. But, as is usually the case when the Skinner and McAlister clans meet up, this one was decided as much by the participants outside the ring as the ones inside. Boss McAlister, once again, was taunting the scantily-clad Jakki with the bag of silver coins when a motorcycle flew down the ramp and its rider grabbed the bag from Boss’ outstretched hand. The rider skidded to a stop next to Jakki and took off his helmet, revealing J.J. Coles.

http://i263.photobucket.com/albums/ii147/ajcrible/JJColes_zpsc7bcdc5b.jpg

Coles tossed the bag to Jakki, took a long drag off a cigarette he’d lit after pulling off his helmet and seemed to enjoy the look of utter shock that passed across the face of Boss McAlister. Inside the ring, Whisky Jack and Blackjack seemed equally taken aback, allowing Matty and Dukie to hit stereo dropkicks on the McAlister boys and pin Whisky Jack for the win.

Winners and STILL SCCW Tag Team Champions: The Skinners via double dropkick

Match Rating: D+

After the match, the Skinners looked at J.J. Coles with questioning glares (they are obviously protective of their cousin), but joined the motorcycle-riding duo in heading backstage. Meanwhile, the three McAlisters stood dumbfounded just outside the ring, whispering among themselves in conspiratorial tones.

‘The Arizona Assassin’ Genghis Rahn v. ‘The Straight Shooter’ Joel Bryant w/Shane Sneer

Billy’s Take:

This match was bittersweet for me, as I knew that the loser was leaving SCCW (even though this was not billed as a Loser Leaves Town match). But the crowd was certainly into this one as the fur-boot-clad and iron-chain-waving Rahn ran to the ring and swung the chain overhead as Iron Maiden’s “Run to the Hills” blared over the loudspeaker. When Bryant entered, the arena grew loud with boos which Shane Sneer seemed to revel in. Inside the ring, this was an all-out brawl, with neither man using much in the way of technical or high-impact power moves. When Rahn connected with a Rahn to the Hills, the crowd assumed the match was over, counting ‘1…2…3’ out loud. But when Bryant kicked out at two the crowd audibly gasped in unison. When Rahn went for a second Rahn to the Hills, Bryant countered with a One Shot Drop. The crowd expected Rahn to kick out as well, but he did not and I counted the three for the pinfall.

Winner: Joel Bryant via One Shot Drop

After the match, Shane Sneer directed ‘The Straight Shooter’ Joel Bryant to continue assaulting ‘The Arizona Assassin’ Genghis Rahn. Bryant kicked Rahn’s ribs repeatedly, torturing the downed man. Sneer then motioned to the back, bringing out ‘The Mexican Pit Bull’ Rafael Ruiz. Ruiz stalked slowly to the ring, gray hoodie covering his face. When he approached Rahn, Bryant backed off and Sneer pointed at the downed Rahn – obviously intending Ruiz to continue the beating. Ruiz flipped off his hood, stared for a long second at Sneer, and then locked Rahn in the Ruiz Wrench, quickly pulling back and then letting go as Rahn was clearly unconscious by this point. Ruiz then left the ring and headed backstage, followed closely by the gloating Sneer and Bryant as the show came to an end

Summer Blast 1997

Losing Genghis Rahn will certainly be a blow to Southern Championship Class Wrestling. The furry-booted one was a solid main event babyface and was primed for a run with the belt. However, SCCW has made several new acquisitions who hope to fill that power void.

Tag Team Title Match: The Skinner Brothers (Dukie Skinner/Matty Skinner) w/Jakki Skinner © v. Bluegrass Boys (The Gambler/'The Trouble from Taylor Mill' Henry Bennett)

Last month, the Skinners successfully defended their recently won belts against their archenemies, the McAlister Clan, thank - at least in part - to the arrival of Jakki's boyfriend, J.J. Coles. This month, the brothers get to face the Bluegrass Boys. Will they again emerge victorious? Or will the McAlisters perhaps cost the Skinners the titles?

The Hillbillies (Pete the Hillbilly/Cousin Ezra) v. The Staten Island Outlaws (Broadway Frank/Switchblade Mike)

Two of the new acquisitions are Broadway Frank and Switchblade Mikey (known elsewhere as Honest Frank and Murderous Mikey). They've taken the name "The Staten Island Outlaws" - something that is sure to raise the ire of the Texas Outlaws. Will the newcomers prevail? Or will the Hillbillies pull out the win?

Jesse 'The Power' Christian v. 'The Straight Shooter' Joel Bryant w/Shane Sneer

Perhaps the most highly-anticipated match on the card. Jesse Christian has declared war on the Sneer Corp due to their heinous attack on Genghis Rahn last month. Will 'The Power' be able to overcome the technical proficiency or Joel Bryant *and* the sneaky ringside antics of Shane Sneer.

Flag Match: Whistler v. Sheik Mustafa

At Wrestle Bowl, Sheik Mustafa sought to crush Whistler's throat. But the ex-Marine is a tougher customer than that. He has vowed to take his revenge on Mustafa and has challenged the Iranian to a Flag Match. You can bet this one will be a heated affair.

Heavyweight Title Match: Johnny Martin v. Krusher Karloff ©

Although he is not particularly well-known in Tennessee, Johnny Martin is a certifiable star in the East Coast Wars. The 27-year old is the current DAVE Extreme champion and is expected to make a splash in SCCW. His first test, though, is a tough one as he will take on the reigning SCCW champ - the mighty Krusher Karloff.

Quick Predictions:

Tag Team Title Match: Skinners © v. Bluegrass Boys

The Hillbillies v. The Staten Island Outlaws

Jesse Christian v. Joel Bryant

Flag Match: Whistler v. Sheik Mustafa

Heavyweight Title Match: Johnny Martin v. Krusher Karloff ©

The opening strains to Hammerfall’s “The Dragon Lies Bleeding” blasted over the speakers lining the Memphis Coliseum. A newcomer to SCCW, Johnny Martin - known to some hardcore fans in the audience as DAVE’s Extreme Champion – walked down to the ring wearing a pair of blue jeans, steel-toed work boots, and a black sleeveless t-shirt, brandishing a metal folding chair. He grabbed a microphone, set down the chair in the center of the ring and took a seat, tipping himself back on two of its legs and smirking. “I’m Johnny Martin,” he began, “and I got in my pickup and drove a thousand miles from Philadelphia for one reason and one reason only. And that is to take the SCCW belt from Krusher Karloff. Ya’ see, I could sit here and bull**** you, tell you that I’m doing this for the honor of the good ol’ USA. Don’t get me wrong, I love me some red, white, and blue. But this ain’t about taking down Communism. Hell, someone needs to tell Krusher that the Soviet Union don’t exist no more. No, this is about me winnin’ gold because I will outwork Karloff. I will bust my ass for that belt and this company. So tonight, Karloff, be ready. Because the storm is comin’!”

Billy’s Take:

This match was basically a way to put over the Skinner Brothers. As a result, the Bluegrass Boys got in little offense. The Skinners ended it with a double dropkick on Bennett to pick up the win.

Before Dukie Skinner, Matty Skinner, and Jakki Skinner could return backstage, some generic banjo music hit and the McAlister Clan walked down to the ring. As usual, Boss McAlister led the pack, dressed to the nines in his white seersucker suit and oversized cowboy hat. Behind him, Whisky Jack McAlister and Blackjack McAlister had big grins plastered across their usually stoic faces. Boss apparently found a microphone and began to speak in his heavy Southern drawl. “Jakki, you amaze me.” Jakki looked questioningly at the McAlister elder. “Just when I think you cain’t get no dumber, you manage to do just that. How long have you and J.J. been courtin'? Couple of months?”

Jakki, who'd apparently found another microphone, responded. “Three months.”

“You don't know a durned thing about him, do you? Do you know who J.J. Coles really is?” He made air quotes around Coles’ name. “Did you ever wonder what J.J. stood for? Naw, of course you didn’t. ‘Cuz you just got echoes between the ears. J.J. stands for Jimmy Jack...” He waited for a second, relishing the look on Jakki’s face as it flipped from oblivious to sudden realization, “…McAlister,” he finished. “That’s right. Your James Dean-wannabe is a McAlister – my second cousin on my daddy’s side’s youngest boy. Jimmy…Jack…McAlister. Must’ve taken the name Coles from his Momma. But I can’t blame ya’. Your grandpappy did steal my sister and make her a Skinner,” he all but spat the last word. “So I ‘spose it runs in y’all’s family. Tell ya’ what. I reckon you wanna see how Jimmy Jack handles himself in a fight. See whose side he’s really on? Next month. You Skinner boys and Jimmy Jack can team up against Whisky Jack, Blackjack, and another McAlister. We’ll show you who rules Hog’s Hollow!” Jakki was obviously flabbergasted, as were her cousins Dukie and Matty, by this revelation.

Another set of newcomers came down to the ring, one bald and muscular with a number of visible tattoos, the other sporting blow-dried hair and a brown velvet track suit. The latter held a microphone. “Up in New York City,” he strongly enunciated the words “New York City” and spoke with a distinctive east coast accent. “some of my boys told me rumors about this “outlaw” promotion out of Memphis run by a couple of washed-up has beens named Fred or Floyd or something. Us men here, Broadway Frank” he indicated himself, “and Switchblade Mike” he pointed at his clean-shaven compatriot, “we heard about those sad excuses for outlaws and decided to come down here and show you how Yankee outlaws run things up north.” The crowd began booing the mention of a northern takeover. “So watch and learn Joey, Morty, and whatever else you outlaw pretenders call yourselves. The Staten Island Outlaws have come south to clean up Dixie. Yee haw!” Broadway Frank mockingly crowed into the microphone, further inciting the crowd.

The Hillbillies (Cousin Ezra/Pete the Hillbilly) v. The Staten Island Outlaws (Broadway Frank/Switchblade Mike)

Billy's Take:

As usual, the Hillbillies had a strong following – some in the crowd even danced while the overall-clad country boys came out to some fiddle music. In the ring, though, the Staten Island Outlaws controlled the match. A Double Do-Si-Do was about all the Hillbillies managed. Switchblade Mike showed off his power and ruthlessness while Broadway Frank displayed both savvy mat work and strong brawling. In the end, it was the Staten Island Outlaws emerging victorious after Broadway Frank and Switchblade Mike connected with a double-team move they’ve apparently dubbed the New York Minute.

“Rocky Top,” the song most strongly associated with the state of Tennessee, blared over the loudspeaker as hometown favorite, Jesse 'The Power' Christian, made his way to the ring. “Last month, I witnessed a miscarriage of justice. I saw a man I respect greatly, Genghis Rahn, beaten to a bloody pulp by that no good weasel Shane Sneer and his two goons. Where I'm from, we don't let people do that to our friends. We stand up for each other. So Shane Sneer, get your ass out here so I can kick it up between your shoulder blades!”

Shane Sneer came down to the ring, leading 'The Straight Shooter' Joel Bryant and 'The Mexican Pit Bull' Rafael Ruiz. Sneer took the microphone. “Big words,” Sneer said. “But that's all they are – words. Where you come from, people treat each other fairly? Must be nice to live in a fantasy world. The real world? That's not as pretty. Its dog-eat-dog and I have the two baddest dogs in the yard.” Sneer pointed to the hoodie-covered Ruiz and the stoic Bryant.

“You're wrong,” Christian said. “You see the worst in people. Me? I see the best. I think this company, this world, needs more people like me. More people willing to stand up for what they believe in. More people who will...” But Christian never got to finish his sentence as Bryant jumped him and the bell rang to start the next match.

Jesse ‘The Power’ Christian v. ‘The Straight Shooter’ Joel Bryant w/Shane Sneer

Billy’s Take:

This was as evenly-contested as any match in SCCW’s brief history. Despite Bryant getting the jump on Christian, the local boy demonstrated a lot of guts by refusing to give up and fighting back. The crowd was really behind his underdog appeal – difficult for a man of his size and strength. In fact, it looked for a time like Christian would complete the comeback and emerge victorious: he had Bryant up in the Tennessee Torture Rack. But Bryant was near enough the ropes to earn a rope break and the tide again turned. In the end, it was the interference of Shane Sneer that decided this contest as (I later learned - my back was turned) Sneer tossed Bryant a pair of brass knuckles and the so-called ‘Straight Shooter’ blasted Christian with them to earn the pinfall win.

Winner: Joel Bryant via pinfall

Flag Match: Whistler v. Sheik Mustafa

Billy’s Take:

Whistler still had his throat taped as he walked down to the ring to start the match, but he looked to be in much less pain than in the previous several months. Not surprisingly, Sheik went straight for the injured larynx, using a variety of throat thrusts and the ring ropes to choke out the American hero. But Whistler turned the tide and this one became a back and forth affair, although neither man could retrieve his flag from ringside and plant it in the flag-holding bracket mounted on one corner post. In the end, as Mustafa was able to take ahold of the Iranian flag and move toward the corner post, Whistler revived enough to blast the Sheik with a decapitating clothesline, retrieve the American flag, and planted it firmly in the corner for the win.

Winner: Whistler

Match Rating: D+

After the match, Whistler stood on the second turnbuckle, waving the American flag high overhead. From behind, Sheik Mustafa – apparently recovered after losing the match – clubbed the patriot hero in the back. Whistler fell to the mat, allowing Mustafa to lay the boots into Whistler. But Whistler, rather than rolling into a ball, fought back. He pushed his way to his feet, even as he absorbed more blows from Mustafa’s boots and fists. He caught a Mustafa punch, attempting to crush the Sheik’s hand. He then threw Sheik into the ropes and connected with a Rebel Yell as the crowd cheered. As often happens in Whistler matches, a loud ‘U…S…A…’ chant broke out as the Marine Corps veteran left the ring.

Southern Championship Class Wrestling Title Match:

Johnny Martin v. Krusher Karloff

Billy’s Take:

Johnny Martin came out first, wearing the same clothes he’d been in at the beginning of the night, grasping the steel chair he’d brandished earlier as well. The champ came out next, missing the usually-present Sheik Mustafa, who was apparently still recovering from the Rebel Yell dealt out by Whistler. But Karloff looked as though he didn’t need a second – his mass appeared enough for two men. Once the match started, this was a hard-hitting affair. There were few traditional wrestling moves and, instead, the match revolved around Karloff trying to get a solid punch in on the bobbing-and-weaving Martin. Unfortunately, Martin bobbed-and-weaved too close to me and Karloff knocked me out with a powerful right hand. As I was unconscious at the time, Floyd ‘F-Bomb’ Bowman filled me in on what happened next. In his words, “So Billy went down when Karloff knocked him on his ***. Karloff went for another big ****in’ punch and Martin ducked again. *****. But then Martin noticed Billy was ****in’ down and slid outside the ****in’ ring and got a ***-****ed steel chair. Came in and brained ****in’ Karloff with it four times across his big ****in’ Commie-lovin’ head. Knocked him the **** out! Then Billy came to, counted the three and Martin was the new champ!”

Winner and NEW SCCW Champion: Johnny Martin via pinfall

Match Rating: D+

Overall: D+

The obvious downside to being both head (or only) referee and booker is that I cannot be backstage during the event. Instead, I rely heavily on 'Mean' Mark Green, Mikey 'The Trailer Park Kid' Montana, and - God help us - Floyd 'F-Bomb' Bowman to keep the peace. After all, a glare from 'Mean' Mark shuts up pretty much everyone.

But when you bring in a new guy and give him the belt on the first night? I shouted, but wasn't heard above the din. Then I realized that both Karloff and Martin were smiling. My next realization was that Martin had an open case of beer on the floor next to him and that Krusher had interrupted Johnny passing out cold ones to the boys. I shook my head, grabbed a beer tossed to me by Chris Caulfield and took a seat beside Floyd - who was sipping a bottle of water while wistfully watching Blackjack McAlister and Whisky Jack McAlister taking swigs from a brown-paper wrapped bottle.

"Not like Texas, is it?" I asked him.

"**** no, it ain't," Floyd replied. "If Pat Deacon had tried to hug me after winnin' the ***-****ed title, I'da ripped his ****in' ***** off with my ****in' hands."

"Didn't really need to know that, but thanks Floyd." I grinned. The Skinner Brothers (Dukie Skinner/Matty Skinner)/Jimmy Jack McAlister w/Jakki Skinner v. The McAlister Clan (Blackjack McAlister/Whisky Jack McAlister/Flapjack McAlister) w/Boss McAlister

This is a feud that runs deeper than just a wrestling ring. In this match, we will see the in-ring debuts of Jakki's boyfriend, Jimmy Jack McAlister (aka J.J. Coles) and the newest McAlister, Flapjack McAlister (aka Flapjack Flanigan). How will J.J. McAlister do when matched up against his clan, the arm-bar specialists of Hog's Hollow?

Number One Contender's Match: Patriotic Pride (Whistler/Leon Williams) v. The Staten Island Outlaws (Broadway Frank/Switchblade Mike)

The Staten Island Outlaws debuted impressively last month, easily putting away the Hillbillies. But this month, their task is much greater as they do battle with the American heroes Whistler and Leon Williams. Who will emerge victorious to face the Skinners for the tag belts?

'The Hardcore American' Chris Caulfield v. 'The Drifter' Leo Davis

SCCW's resident hardcore specialist v. its homeless hobo. Can Caulfield start to make more of a mark in SCCW or will Davis take a stand?

Jesse 'The Power' Christian v. 'The Mexican Pit Bull' Rafael Ruiz w/Shane Sneer

Last month, Christian fell to Sneer's Joel Bryant when the 'Straight Shooter' used a pair of brass knuckles to pick up the win. So far, we've seen Ruiz avoid taking shortcuts. But will will Sneer's influence once again turn the tide of this match and give his man the win? Or will the hometown hero emerge victorious?

SCCW Heavyweight Title Match: Johnny Martin v. Krusher Karloff w/Sheik Mustafa

Last month, Martin shocked the wrestling world when he came into SCCW and won the heavyweight title in his first appearance. This month, he will not have the element of surprise when he faces Krusher Karloff in a rematch for the belt. Can Martin again emulate Rocky Balboa and defeat the Russian monster? Or will Karloff regain the belt and make an example of the blue collar Philadelphian?

Quick Predictions:

Skinner Brothers/Jimmy Jack McAlister v. The McAlister Clan

Patriotic Pride v. Staten Island Outlaws

Chris Caulfield v. Leo Davis

Jesse Christian v. Rafael Ruiz

SCCW Title: Johnny Martin © v. Krusher Karloff

School’s Out kicked off with Whistler coming out to the ring, wearing a red and gold shirt reading “Semper Fidelis” on the front and, apparently, with a completely healed larynx. “Ooo-rah!” Whistler whooped into the microphone. “For more than 200 years the United States military has kept America safe from foreign invasion. This great country has never bowed to a foreign king or bent their knees to a foreign prince. I am proud to have served as a United States Marine and been part of that heritage. When Saddam” (he pronounced it Sa-damn) “tried to take over Kuwait, I was there. And now my duty is the same. Just as I helped drive Saddam back to Baghdad, I now fight the turncoats who threaten Southern Championship Class Wrestling. Last month, I planted the Stars and Stripes and won the flag match against Sheik Mustafa. But that was just a battle. I know the war ain’t over yet. Sheik Mustafa, Krusher Karloff, any time you want to mess with me, I’ll bring the Halls of Montezuma and the Shores of Tripoli!” He pointed at his left and then right bicep when quoting from the Marine Corps Anthem before waking off.

Johnny Lawless came out to the ring, calling for the McAlisters and Skinners to join him. Jakki Skinner came out wearing a pair of skimpy cut-off jean shorts and an, ummm, ‘revealing’ tied-off t-shirt and clinging to the back of a Harley-Davidson motorcycle. In front of her was Jimmy Jack McAlister (aka J.J. Coles), who had a lit cigarette dangling from his lips as he maneuvered the bike to ringside. Jakki’s cousins, Dukie Skinne and Matty Skinner, walked behind – noticeably keeping their distance from their cousin’s ride. Boss McAlister emerged first for his clan, wearing white seersucker and leading Blackjack McAlister and Whisky Jack McAlister behind. Following these three was a newcomer to SCCW, Flapjack McAlister (known in other parts by his Christian name, Flapjack Flanagan). Lawless was the first to speak, breaking the tension. “I won’t claim to understand the family blood feud between the Skinner Clan and the McAlister Clan,” he began. “But I do know a little bit about feuds inside the squared circle and tonight, I expect that you will try and settle this once and for all.”

“You’re right Johnny,” Boss McAlister replied. “You don’t know a damn thing about this feud ‘tween kin like takes place in Hog’s Hollow. Fact of the matter is this. Jimmy Jack, son, you were born a McAlister and I’ll be damned if I’m gonna let you be with *her* kind.” Jimmy Jack scowled at Boss, crushing his cigarette underfoot.

Jakki began to speak, but stopped abruptly when Jimmy Jack touched her shoulder. “Cousin,” Jimmy Jack’s voice was as smooth as 25-year old scotch poured over a single cube of ice. “You ain’t my boss, no matter what your momma named you. I’m my own man and ain’t gonna have no one speak for me. Me and Jakki’ve got a good thing.” She wriggled up against him in her motorcycle seat, kissing him on the neck. Jimmy Jack shrugged. “And tonight, I’m ‘bout to show y’all that I might not call myself a McAlister, but that I can still fight like no one’s business.”

The Skinner Boys (Dukie Skinner/Matty Skinner)/Jimmy Jack McAlister w/Jakki Skinner v. The McAlister Clan (Blackjack McAlister/Whisky Jack McAlister/Flapjack McAlister) w/Boss McAlister

[i[billy’s Take:[/i]

This was a brawl from the get-go. The McAlister Clan, Jimmy Jack included, seemed to relish working over the arms of their opponents preparing for the McAlister Armbar. The Skinner Boys worked, as usual, like a well-oiled machine – using a variety of double-team moves to ground their larger opponents. In the end, it was the McAlisters coming out on top when newcomer Flapjack McAlister blasted Matty Skinner with a lariat and pinned him for the win. Although the match was over, the brawl continued with Jimmy Jack, in particular, seething at his team’s defeat.

As the family feud spilled into the back, the Staten Island Outlaws – Broadway Frank and Switchblade Mike – made their way to the ring to the strains of “53rd and 3rd” by the Ramones. Frank took an exaggerated breath, drawing air in through his nose. “My God this place stinks. I mean, it’s like tobacco juice mixed with pickled pig’s feet and failure. That’s right. Failure. Because I know what all of you are thinking right now. You’re thinking ‘My God, he’s amazing. I wish my hair was that luxurious. I wish my track suit was that velvety. I wish my mom cooked the best damned eggplant parm in the five boroughs like his does.’ Well, sorry folks, those just are not going to come true because you’re all from Loserville, Tennessee, the place that time – and deodorant – forgot. I’m from New…York…City” he heavily enunciated those words, “which makes me a damn sight better than you. So tonight, when me and Mikey beat up the Wannabe Whistler and the Loser Leon, don’t think about it as just a wrestling match. No, you inbred rednecks, think about it as a reflection of your life – the strong survive and the weak live in Memphis.”

SCCW Tag Team Number One Contenders Match:

Patriotic Pride (Whistler/Leon Williams) v. The Staten Island Outlaws (Broadway Frank/Switchblade Mike)

Billy’s Take:

As usual, the crowd was firmly behind Whistler and his partner, the patriotically-face-painted Leon Williams. Plus the Staten Island Outlaws have gotten a lot of heat for their very pointed anti-Southern rants lately, which pushed even more fans to the side of Patriotic Pride. This match was a back-and-forth affair, with neither team gaining the advantage for very long. In fact, at one point, it looked as though Patriotic Pride would emerge victorious after Whistler hit Frank with a Rebel Yell. But Switchblade Mike broke up the pin and the match continued. In the end, it was the Outlaws coming out on top after Mike pulled the top rope down on an Irish Whip, sending Whistler to the outside and allowing the Outlaws to connect with a New York Minute on Leon for the win.

As Broadway Frank and Switchblade Mike headed backstage, they were suddenly cut off by the arrival of the Texas Outlaws, Floyd ‘F-Bomb’ Bowman, ‘Mean’ Mark Green, Mikey ‘Trailer Park Kid’ Montana, and Johnny Lawless. Lawless held a microphone. “Whoa there boy,” Lawless began before Floyd grabbed the microphone from him. “Stay the **** where you’re at you no-good sonofabitch!” Broadway Frank just smiled a slimy grin and Switchblade Mike glared imposingly. Green continued for the group. “Way I see it,” he drawled, “your mouth is writin’ checks your body’s gonna have to cash. You come south callin’ yourselves outlaws. But you don’t even know the meaning of that damn word. You ain’t true outlaws – never will be. We’re feeling generous tonight, though and aren’t gonna kick your asses – yet. But we recommend that you pack up your carpetbags and run back up north with your Yankee tails tucked between your skinny Yankee legs.” Broadway Frank and Switchblade Mike considered the odds for a moment and then left, yelling at the Outlaws once they appeared safely out of range.

‘The Hardcore American’ Chris Caulfield v. ‘The Drifter’ Leo Davis

Billy’s Take:

If possible, Davis looked even shabbier than normal, an old, dirty blanket draped across his shoulders like a cape as he made his way to the ring. For his part, Caulfield looked particularly fired up for this match. This encounter did not last long as Caulfield dominated from the opening bell and ended the match with a Danger Drop for the win.

Jesse ‘The Power’ Christian made his way down to the ring, slapping hands with fans seated at ringside while “Rocky Top” blared over the arena’s PA system. “Last month, Shane Sneer, you cheated to win. You threw Joel Bryant a pair of brass knuckles and cost me the match. But I expect that from you, Sneer, you conniving, sniveling S.O.B. But Bryant, I expected more from you. You call yourself the ‘Straight Shooter,’ and I’ve always respected how hard you fight. But last month, you crossed the line. Tonight, I have another tough task. And Shane Sneer, I’ll tell you this. Jesse ‘The Power’ Christian v. ‘The Mexican Pit Bull’ Rafael Ruiz w/Shane Sneer

Billy’s Take:

This was a near-mirror-image of last month’s encounter between Christian and Joel Bryant (Shane Sneer’s other client). In fact, it nearly ended the same way with Sneer tossing a pair of brass knuckles to Ruiz after a prolonged back-and-forth between two evenly-matched competitors. But this time, rather than using the foreign object, Ruiz threw the knucks aside. This momentary distraction was enough for Christian to roll up the ‘Mexican Pit Bull’ for the 1…2…3. After the match, Christian took off after Shane Sneer, who’d tried once more to cheat him out of a win, while Rafael Ruiz pounded the canvas in frustration, dumbfounded by the loss.

Southern Championship Class Wrestling Heavyweight Title Match:

Johnny Martin © v. Krusher Karloff w/Sheik Mustafa

Billy’s Take:

Johnny Martin came down to the ring carrying a steel chair to meet the enormous Russian mountain. He propped it up outside the ring and took a seat on it, staring down his opponent while lifting his SCCW Heavyweight Title overhead. Once the match began this was, as was the case last month, a brutal affair. Karloff controlled most of the match, beating down the champ. He was aided multiple times by small interferences from Sheik Mustafa, making Martin fight a two-front battle. When he thought I wasn’t looking, Mustafa tossed Martin’s steel chair into the ring to his Russian ally. Karloff took a giant swing at Martin with it. But Martin ducked it, kicked the chair out of Karloff’s hands and bashed the challenger with it, earning the disqualification. After the bell rang, Martin continued his assault – getting a lot of cheers for some rather anti-good guy actions…

Winner: Krusher Karloff via DQ – Johnny Martin retains the SCCW Heavyweight Title

Nice work! I liked your rationale as well. Karloff was, for being my most-over guy, fine doing the job last month and Martin was ok with it this month. But we've got more Skinners coming that should make them more interesting. Plus the Skinners have Jakki...

Coles, is quite new to the wrestling business. At just 21 years old, he already has three years of experience, mostly for DAVE. In DAVE, Coles plays a cool biker (not unlike his role as Jimmy Jack McAlister) and is usually on the losing end of his matches. He is a good guy to have around, although he's pretty flaky at times.

In all honesty, we have three storylines written for the progression of the McAlister/Skinner feud. Will JJ and Jakki be Romeo & Juliet and remain in love despite (or perhaps because of) their family feud? Will they bring their families together against a common enemy? Or will Jimmy Jack decide that blood is thicker than water and join up with his cousins?
