Back to the Future: A UFC Dynasty

Recommended Posts

Hello fellow threaders! First off I would like to apologize to anyone who was following my former dynasty as I suddenly stopped. The truth is I lost interest in it so quickly that I didn't even notice that I stopped posting until it was too late to even consider continuing it.

However, just the other day I came up with a great idea. I started playing the "Dawn of MMA" mod awhile back and have currently played all the way up to UFC 110. I played all the previous cards on their actual dates and will continue to do so until we reach the future! I also kept many of the fights the same as well unless: a) it didn't make sense, due to win/loss streaks or b) champions were different. My idea was to share what could be a really interesting save to see how it varies from real life.

I first want to get an idea of if their is an interest in this? Since UFC 100 I have been customizing the cards much more and will be looking to do so hereon. If their is an interest I will definitely strive to stick with this one. After all, I have already played over 150 cards so I am obviously interested enough in this save.

If you are interested also give me some fighters that you would like to see integrated in the game that made their UFC debut in 2010 or later (since the mod has debuted almost all fighters in the database!)

If I get positive feedback on this idea I will start by posting: Champions, top ranked fighters in each weight division, retired "legends", an explanation on the UFC from 1-110 and key moments etc etc. and the announcements of cards for the first few months of game time before actually holding cards!

Well, I guess that no response is better than a negative response for now. I will get started and as I go feedback by either rating or comment would be appreciated! My first post will be champions!

I would like to note that I held some extra "WSOF" and "Pancrase" cards (as the UFC) in order to keep fighters active who were on the roster but not active in the UFC. I also held an "Ultimate Gladiator" tournament series which featured an 8-man tournament with the winner taking home the title. Some of the titles have already been unified with the UFC belts but other still remain disputed so unification would be something to look forward to down the line!

Cain: "To solidify myself as the number one contender I need to beat Mirko Filipovic. I believe he is a great fighter and we are a very even matchup."</p><p> </p><p>

Cain: "The advantage that I will have is that I want the belt more than he can imagine. I want to become the first Mexican champion in the UFC."</p><p> </p><p>

Filipovic: "He will see, in the octagon, how badly I want this."</p><p> </p><p>

<strong><span style="font-size:14px;"><span style="color:#FF8C00;">The Joe Rogan Experience: on UFC 110</span></span></strong></p><p> </p><p>

<span style="text-decoration:underline;">On the preliminary card</span>:</p><p>

Joe: Dennis Hallman knows that, at age 35, this may be his last chance to make a run at the Middleweight title and he's already built a case now riding a 4-fight win streak. I expect to see the best Hallman that we have ever seen in the octagon. Alexander Gustafsson is a young up and coming fighter. He has a perfect 8-0 record and many believe he has the tools to become a champion. He will test those skills in the octagon on Saturday.</p><p> </p><p>

<span style="text-decoration:underline;">On the main card</span>:</p><p>

Joe: Thiago Alves (4-3 in UFC) and Dan Hardy (2-2 in UFC) have both struggled to find their place in the welterweight division so I expect to see two guys that want to prove they have what it take to keep a place on the roster. Both have knockout power and I expect a brawl. Elvis Sinosic and Keith Jardine will be fighting for their life in the UFC as both are riding losing streaks. Jardine has won fight of the night 4 times before and this could be an early candidate. Dennis Siver wants to put himself into the title mix after winning two straight and Ryan Roberts has faired surprisingly well in the UFC with a (3-1) in org. record.</p><p> </p><p>

<span style="text-decoration:underline;">On the co-main event</span>:</p><p>

Joe: Frank Shamrock (10-1 in UFC) and Kazuhiro Sakuraba are two former champions (UFC and PRIDE, respectively) and they were both, at one point, consider to be one of the greatest. Sakuraba will be making his UFC debut but due to his 10-fight title defence streak in PRIDE he won't cave under the pressure of a co-main event position. Both men will likely look for a submission finish (7 for Shamrock, 12 for Sakuraba) so a grappling battle is to be expected.</p><p> </p><p>

<span style="text-decoration:underline;">On the main event</span>:</p><p>

Joe: This is a fight between two of the most evenly matched fighters currently in the UFC. If you watch the "by the numbers" promo you can see that both guys are almost identical in every aspect of the fight game. They are meeting in the octagon at the perfect time in their careers. The stars have aligned on this one. I think Cain will have his best chance taking this fight to the ground and going for a GnP victory. I give the slight advantage to Cro-Crop on the feet and even though we haven't seen much of it yet, Cro-Crop has a great Mauy Thai game and I think it would be beneficial for him to utilize that.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

<strong><span style="font-size:14px;"><span style="color:#2F4F4F;">Dana White's Blog</span></span></strong></p><p> </p><p>

Message from the President: Sakuraba is making his much anticipated debut against a very tough opponent in Frank Shamrock and these are two of the best grapplers that I have ever seen. I don't see that fight lasting the distance because both guys wanna make a statement. These fights are gonna be sick. We got the #2 and #3 Heavyweights, Cain Velasquez and Mirko Filipovic, and they are gonna collide on Saturday. Im seriously so psyched. No doubt the number one contender for the title will come out of this fight. </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

<strong><span style="font-size:14px;"><span style="color:#0000FF;">What other fighters are saying on Twitter</span></span></strong><strong><span style="font-size:14px;">:</span></strong></p><p> </p><p>

Gilbert Melendez: My man Cain, make a run for the title #UFC 110</p><p> </p><p>

Randy Couture: Gotta love such a close matchup, I'll be watching closely #Joe Silva</p><p> </p><p>

Brock Lesnar: When I beat my next opponent can't wait to take on whoever wins this #UFC 110#Cain#Mirko</p>

Post-Fight Press Conference

Dana said that he was especially impressed with: Gustafsson, Hunt, and of course Velasquez. "These guys were nearly identical stat-wise and Cain came out and made Cro-Crop look really bad." When asked if he will be the next challenger he responded "No question. When this kid is ready, he will be in there."

He also expressed how awesome it was to be in Australia. He said the show was very successful and after testing the waters the UFC would definitely be returning.

When asked about the fate of Anthony Perosh he stated that after 4-straight losses in the UFC he will be released. Perosh stated: "I understand. The UFC has all the top level fighters and I can only hope to return after fighting somewhere else."

Sakuraba said that he was disappointed with his performance. He knew that the first round was his but wished he would have attempted some submissions and pursued a finish more. "My weight cut took a large toll and I will likely move to Light-Heavyweight."

Frank said that he knew the first round was lost so to make a statement he went for the knockout and it came. With two in a row he said that he would like a top 10 matchup.

Mirko Filipovic said that he was disappointed that he didn't get a chance to showcase his skills. He called out Gilbert Yvel as someone who he would like to fight next. "I will come back stronger from this. I still have time to achieve the title."

Cain Velasquez said that he just remembered what he practiced in training and knew his drive would get him the win. "I am ecstatic to fight for a UFC title. This has been my dream. I would love to do it tomorrow."

Elvis Sinosic Retirement

Elvis Sinosic (10-11) announced his retirement after his bout with Keith Jardine

The biggest moment of his career was beating Igor Vovchanchyn via Submission (heel hook) @ WSOF 3 to win the Light-Heavyweight title.

"Win or lose I was just honoured to receive fight of the night for my last bout. I may have never been the greatest fighter in the world but I always gave it my all. Thank you to all my fans."

I did this too, and in mine Matt Serra went on a twelve fight win streak as Middleweight Champion.

That's insane! Matt Serra had 1 defence of the Lightweight belt in my game. 2002 KO of the Year against BJ Penn. Only losses to Sherk and Hughes. He is still around though. Stay tuned to see what happens to him!

Just curious what happened to Ryan Healy and Bart Palaszewski after the greatest fight of all time, in my experience guys usually go on a loosing streak instead of turning it into somedecent run at top tier competition

Feel free to predict! I may keep track and try to do something with predictions but not 100% sure yet. But discussion or predictions are definitely open on this dynasty. I know that some of the match ups are really interesting to me so feedback and how you think certain fights will go down is great! I posted results right before you finished your post though, sorry about that.

As for those two guys... Issue is that neither was that successful.. ever! The fight was Ryan Healy's debut fight (which is pretty awesome!) and Bart Palasweski was coming of off two losses. Ryan Healy is now (9-3) (2-3 in game world) and Bart Palaswski is (15-11). However, Bart is now on a 3-fight win streak and only 26 years old so he has potential. Hope that answers your question? They are both still young, so follow the dynasty and you'll be able to see how they fair!

<p></p><div style="text-align:center;"><p><strong><span style="font-size:14px;">Post-Fight Press Conference</span></strong></p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

<span style="color:#A0522D;">Dana</span> said that he was especially impressed with: Azeredo for defeating an undefeated competitor in spectacular fashion, Souza for all beating someone unbeaten by not giving up, Rosario and Barry for their awesome fight, Sanchez and Pulver also for a great fight and of course Brandon Vera for a spectacular knockout. </p><p> </p><p>

He also announced that Aaron Rosa (0-3 in UFC) and Luke Stewart (2-1 in the UFC) will be released. When asked about the reason for the latter he stated: "His debut was boring. He won a split-decision against Goulet, who has looked awful lately, in another boring fight and now he lost by split-decision in a fight that he probably won but man was it boring to watch. "</p><p> </p><p>

<span style="color:#A0522D;">Jones</span> said that he was disappointed in the loss and wished that he could've finished stronger in the third round. He assured the fans that he would return a lot stronger from the loss.</p><p> </p><p>

<span style="color:#A0522D;">Vera</span> said that he knew the second round went to Jones so he wanted to pour it on in the third. He got his rhythm and was able to land the knockout. He also confirmed that he will stay fighting at 205 but try harder to reach optimal condition for weigh-ins.</p><p> </p><p>

<span style="color:#A0522D;">Jens Pulver</span> said that he was disappointed to lose but he will come back okay. He said that a fight against Luiz Azeredo would interest him, but a drop to Featherweight elsewhere would as well.</p><p> </p><p>

<span style="color:#A0522D;">Diego Sanchez</span> said that he just remembered that God was always watching over him and that allowed him to finish a very tough opponent. "God and yoga gave me the two most important traits that a fighter needs. Power and composure." </p></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

<strong><span style="font-size:14px;"><span style="color:#FF8C00;">The Joe Rogan Experience: on UFC 111</span></span></strong></p><p> </p><p>

<span style="text-decoration:underline;">On the preliminary card</span>:</p><p>

Joe: Glover Teixeira is a fast-rising hot prospect making his UFC debut against an undefeated Rafael Cavalcante (1-0 in UFC) Both men are riding streaks and this'll be a great fight! Joe Riggs and Josh Burkman are two young UFC vets that will undoubtedly be looking to make a statement tomorrow. </p><p> </p><p>

<span style="text-decoration:underline;">On the main card</span>:</p><p>

Joe: Shane Carwin is coming off his first loss to Gabriel Gonzaga due to a controversial split-decision. He felt like he won and deserved a title shot so he has something to prove against Kerr. After losing his UFC debut to Martin Kampmann (via majority decision) Carlos Condit beat Jake Ellenberger in an instance classic. He will be looking to establish his place in the Welterweight division against Paul Daley. Making his debut in the UFC and coming off a loss against Jens Pulver in a fantastic fight Nam Pham will have no easy task against debuting George Roop. Of course, Lawler and Larson both off breaking a winning streak will look to get back on track in a striker vs. grappler matchup.</p><p> </p><p>

<span style="text-decoration:underline;">On the co-main event</span>:</p><p>

Joe: After early struggle Kurt Pelligrino (12-5) (5-4 in the UFC) has found his rhythm submitting his last two opponents. A win against UFC vet Aaron Riley (19-6-1) (8-4 in the UFC) could launch him into a #1 contender matchup. However, before a recent loss at UFC 105 Riley was on a 6-fight win streak so can never be counted out! Another striker vs. grappler matchup both men will be looking for a finish and I wouldn't count on this matchup going to a decision.</p><p> </p><p>

<span style="text-decoration:underline;">On the main event</span>:</p><p>

Joe: This is a fight between the two top welterweight fighters in the UFC. It will unify the UFC and WSOF titles. Shields is ranked at #7 but due to only have one fight in the UFC a bias is inherent. In the WSOF Shields defended his title 4 times and is riding an eight fight winning streak. He looked spectacular in his UFC debut and will prove an extremely tough challenge for the champion if the fight hits the mat. However, Georges St-Pierre is something very special. At only 28 years old he has beaten almost every record beaten by Matt Hughes and has shown no sign of slowing down. If Georges shows growth tomorrow we will see not the end or middle but the beginning of a legend to MMA.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

<strong><span style="font-size:14px;"><span style="color:#2F4F4F;">Dana White's Blog</span></span></strong></p><p> </p><p>

Message from the President: Riley and Pellegrino both want to take a swing at UFC gold. Winner will be one step closer to that shot. One of the greatest of all time (at age 28!) Georges St-Pierre will fight to unify the WSOF championship belt. He was submitted against Sherk so he could have trouble if the fight goes tot he ground.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

<strong><span style="font-size:14px;"><span style="color:#0000FF;">What other fighters are saying on Twitter</span></span></strong><strong><span style="font-size:14px;">:</span></strong></p><p> </p><p>

Rory MacDonald: G.O.A.T. Georges St-Pierre #represent#tri-star</p><p> </p><p>

Jake Shields: Looking forward to the title unification bout, see you there Georges #UFC 111</p><p> </p><p>

Josh Koscheck: Would love a rematch after Georges loses tomorrow #(n)FrenchCanadians</p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

Post-Fight Press Conference

Dana said that he was especially impressed with: all of the fighters tonight. He thanked them all for putting on a great night of fights that he will remember for a long time.

When asked about the fighters who missed weight he said that he spoke to them already: Ralek Gracie, and Rafael Cavalcante will both move up a weight class and Roe Riggs will as well if he stays with the promotion.

When asked about Riggs he said some thought needs to go into the decision because although Riggs is (4-5) in the UFC he has put on some great fights and been with the promotion since UFC 49. "The guy is only 27 too. I mean he hasn't even peaked, so yeah, we gotta think."

Pellegrino said that he would love to fight at a lower weight as he feels a lot of the lightweights are too strong for him. After going (5-5) in the UFC he said he wishes for them to bring lighter weights were he would be better fitted.

Riley said that he was extremely happy to have such a good performance. He said he was honoured to have 20 career victories and to do it against such a great opponent. He emphasized wanting to fight a top 15 fighter.

Jake Shields said there isn't anything he can do now. He wishes he would have been more patient and not left an opening for the arm bar. He congratulated GSP and thanked him for a good fight.

Georges St-Pierre said he was honoured to unify the Welterweight King of Pancrase and now the WSOF titles. He said this fight was just another win to add to his legacy.
