Post-Fight Press Conference

Dana said he was disappointed with the performance of the fighters tonight. "Struve, Johnson, and Carvalho all deserve to be thanked, not only because they finished their fights but because their fights didn't suck. And of course Gomi deserves credit because he will be the lightweight divisions next challenger."

Edwards said that he wasn't busy enough in the fight and couldn't hurt Guida. He apologized for his lacklustre performance.

Guida said that he followed his game plan and grinded out a decision win.

Kenny Florian said he needs to step back for awhile and re-evaluate his career as a fight. "I was really confident I would win this fight and then to be knocked out for the first time in my career it is very dissatisfying."

Takanori Gomi said he was excited to challenge for a title, especially in the UFC.

UFC 112 Promo Video

Frankie Edgar: "I want to be the best. I want to become the UFC Lightweight Champion and to do that I need to beat BJ Penn."

BJ Penn: "Im not afraid because Edgar has never been beaten, that just gives me more motivation to break that. I am the best in the world and I will show that at UFC 112."

Michael Bisping: "A brazilian should not be champion when the English are clearly superior. People call him the greatest but I will show him that even he has weaknesses."

Anderson Silva: "Brazil is my home. I do not respect him. We will fight. I win."

Joe Rogan: "Two titles are on the line, in the co-main event Frankie Edgar - a nearly perfected mixed martial artist will dispute BJ Penns title. In the main event, Michael Bisping has stepped up and dropped weight because no one in the division is ready to fight Anderson Silva. These guys hate each other and there's no way it won't finish with someone unconscious."

*Show Edgars wins over Hermes Franca, Gray Maynard, and Sean Sherk*

*Show Penns wins over Sanchez, Sherk, and Pulver*

*Show Bispings TKO finish of Josh Haynes*

*Show Anderson's (guillotine) Submission finish of Patrick Cote and (RNC) of Yushin Okami*

*Show Bispings (arm bar) SUB finish of Chris Leben and (guillotine) of Denis Kang*

*Show Anderson's (knee) KO finishes of Rich Franklin and Thales Leitas*

Mike Goldberg: "Two titles will be disputed!"

The Joe Rogan Experience: on UFC 112

On the preliminary card:

Joe: Ryan Healy and Chris Horodecki, both young prospects, will fight in what can be assumed a standup battle. Healy as everyone knows put on the greatest fight of all time against Palaszewski but has yet to fruit in the sport. Charles Oliveira and Court McGee, who will both be making their debut are two awesome fighters. They will be key to watch over the next few years.

On the main card:

Joe: Rick Story (1-0 in UFC) and Rory MacDonald (UFC debut) are two young rising stars that will both be looking to come out with a big win. In a division that is being cleared out by Champion Georges St-Pierre a win could place them in the top of the division. Coming fresh off a win against Fedor Emelianenko, Rodrigo Noguiera will look to defeat Houston Alexander and possibly be in place for title contention. Nick Diaz (14-1) and Matt Hughes (27-5) are two UFC vets and this should be a grapplers dream match.

On the co-main event:

Joe: BJ Penn is undoubtably one of the greatest fighters to ever enter the UFC but Frankie Edgar has looked stellar in his 7 UFC matches. Beating some of the divisions best. This will be a match to remember!

On the main event:

Joe: Michael Bisping, a natural 205er, has dropped the weight and decided to take a swing at Anderson Silva. He literally called Dana and said: "I know that Silva has wiped the division clean. Give me the shot and I will drop the weight." And the rest was history. But there is a reason Silva has wiped the division clean. The guy is a beast. No one has ever beaten him and better yet, no one has even took him the distance. Bisping has trashed talked and I know both men will be searching for a finish.

<p></p><div style="text-align:center;"><p><strong><span style="font-size:14px;">Post-Fight Press Conference</span></strong></p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

<span style="color:#A0522D;">Dana</span> announced that barring no injuries or unexpected events Edgar will defend the title for the first time against Takanori Gomi. </p><p> </p><p>

When asked about a rematch with Penn he said: "Edgar looked amazing tonight and there is no doubt in anybody's mind that he is the champion. Do I still think Penn is one of the best? Yeah, but he needs to come back win a fight or two, then we can think about a rematch."</p><p> </p><p>

On Silva's performance he said: "It's what we have come to expect. This guy is phenomenal. It's going to be very hard to find him an opponent. Basically right now we are either looking at either: a rematch with Leben (#3), Chael Sonnen (#5), or a rematch with Okami (#10). But Okami and Leben only have 2 straight wins, and Chael coming off a loss-win is questionable even thought the win was against Marquardt (at the time #3)."</p><p> </p><p>

When asked what is next for Silva: "Well obviously we gotta go back and think about it.. But when considering who is in the Middleweight division to challenge, I would say we have two options: a) if Henderson wins against Rua we do a superfight at LHW between Silva and Henderson or b) if Wanderlei wants to drop to Middleweight to challenge for the title and have a rematch (after fighting in their early PRIDE days) then we could do that too. Its a big question."</p><p> </p><p>

<span style="color:#A0522D;">Penn</span> said he is disappointed that he could not beat Sherk's record but Edgar fought awesome today and he deserves to be the champion. He said he would like to fight Luiz Azeredo next.</p><p> </p><p>

<span style="color:#A0522D;">Edgar</span> just thanked everyone for their support and the UFC for the great opportunity.</p><p> </p><p>

<span style="color:#A0522D;">Michael Bisping</span> stated being angry that the fight did not go his way because he knew that he could have won. "I don't want to make excuses, it wasn't my night, but I have the skill to win a title and I will."</p><p> </p><p>

<span style="color:#A0522D;">Anderson Silva</span> said the following when asked about a superfight with Henderson or a rematch with Wanderlei: "Yes, these interest me much so. Dana will call me and we will decide a fight."</p></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

UFC 115: Liddell vs. Valimaki

Welterweight Bout: Jon Fitch (19-3) vs. Chris Lytle (24-9-3)

Round 1

>The fight begins!

>An exchange of strikes doesn't really lead to anything.

>Moving in closer, Fitch looks like he may want to wrestle Lytle.

>Lytle tries to single leg Fitch as he moves forward, but he is too quick to step away.

>Lytle shoots in for a takedown.

>Fitch sprawls to stop the takedown, then pulls Lytle up close into a clinch.

>Fitch is trying to push Lytle so that his back is up against the cage.

>Fitch does it, Lytle is stuck with his back to the cage.

>Lytle takes a knee strike to the inside of his own knee.

>Fitch shows his grappling ability by pinning Lytle up against the cage and keeps him there for about sixty seconds.

>We are now at the halfway point of the round.

>Fitch tries to maintain control, but Lytle wrestles his way out of trouble and turns it so that Fitch ends up backed against the cage.

>Lytle tries to take Fitch down.

>The takedown is successful; Fitch seemed happy to take it and pull guard.

>Fitch tries to sweep Lytle but can't do it.

>Lytle throws a few right hands, but is mainly trying to catch his breath.

>In guard, Lytle catches his breath, content just to throw a couple of punches to the body.

>We're into the final minute of the round.

>Lytle looks to get past the guard.

>Fitch comfortably blocks the attempt and keeps Lytle in guard.

>The time runs out on round one.

>I'd say that was definitely 10-9 in favour of Fitch.

Round 2

>We are back underway!

>Lytle steps back to avoid a barrage of big punches, having been off balance momentarily after a clever feint.

>Fitch looks like he might be trying to get in close and wrestle with Lytle.

>Lytle tries to catch him by surprise with a takedown attempt, but it is blocked.

>Lytle throws a left jab but Fitch avoids it.

>Chris Lytle looks very tired out there.

>A straight left by Fitch keeps Lytle from advancing.

>Lytle presses in closer to attack.

>A couple of ragged punches are used to set up a takedown attempt from a visibly tired Lytle.

>Lytle can't get past the sprawl of Fitch, and finds himself pushed face-down to the ground.

>Fitch pounds away on the body and side of the head, Lytle struggles to deal with them.

>Lytle takes a few punches on the way, but manages to get back to standing.

>We've now passed the halfway mark in this round.

>Fitch counters a wayward left jab with a quick series of punches.

>Fitch is looking to turn this into a wrestling match, and is getting in closer to Lytle.

>Lytle sees a chance for a takedown attempt, but Fitch is able to defend it.

>Chris Lytle looks like he doesn't have a lot left to give.

>The weight cut that he did for this fight may be a factor in his fatigue.

>We have one minute of the round remaining.

Post-Fight Press Conference

Dana said that this was the worst event in UFC history. He apologized for all the fights that went to a decision. "We owe Canada a stacked card. The fighters did not perform tonight."

When asked who he thought stood out: "Well, I think that is obvious. Cro-Crop looked amazing. He dominated a really tough guy in Mark Hunt. Royce and Rodrigo both looked awesome as well. Even at Royce's age he is amazing. And then Mike Pyle and Duane Ludwig put on a great fight in the prelims as well."

When asked about Chuck Liddell he said: "It's unfortunate because it is more then likely this was his last octagon appearance and most people gave him the slight edge in scoring on that fight.. But I mean, can't let the judges choose."

Hunt said he was disappointed but hopes to fight in Canada again.

Filipovic said that he believed his showing put him right back into the title pictures and that he wants a top fighter. "Pedro Rizzo would interest me."

Chuck Liddell said he had some issues during his training camp but it was not an excuse to lose. He said he needs to go home and consider his career. "I hate to leave the octagon after such a bad run of fights but I dunno what I can do from here."

Victor Valimaki stated that he believed he won that fight without a doubt. "I respect Chuck. He deserves everyones respect. He will be a Hall-of-Famer... But man, his time has run out. Good fight, but he is done."
