Aussie Rules

I love AFL. I love how simple it is to grasp the rules, and how free-flowing, intense and ridiculously athletic it is. I don't get to watch it much though. :( I wouldn't say I had a favourite team, and haven't really 'followed' it for years, but if I had to pick one I'd go with the Hawthorn Hawks, because of tenuous links to where I'm from (they play home games in Launceston, Tasmania, and I'm from near a town called Launceston in Cornwall. Even though the Aussies say it wrong. ¬_¬).

The only downside to AFL for me is that it usually takes around 3 hours per match, although unlike NFL at least there aren't breaks every 30 seconds.

Actually I'm a Hawks fan too. Though I'm a fan for much dumber reasons, they wear the same colors as the University of Wyoming, and I've been raised to cheer for anyone who wears brown and gold. <img alt=":D" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/biggrin.png.929299b4c121f473b0026f3d6e74d189.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" />

<p>I love the fact that there are people abroad that like AFL lol</p><p> </p><p>

Just to let you know the Hawks are pretty much the best team in the league at the moment lol.</p><p> </p><p>

Im a St Kilda Saints fan myself they spend more time at the botom of the ladder than they do at the top. only has won the one preimership (championship) and that was in 1966.</p><p> </p><p>

<p>Actually, St. Kilda was in two of the first three games I saw. And I swear when I first got into the AFL I didn't know Hawthorn just won the Grand Final. <img alt=":p" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/tongue.png.ceb643b2956793497cef30b0e944be28.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p>

And for anyone else in the States interested in Aussie Rules, they air two games back-to-back Friday night/Saturday morning on Fox Sports 2. I also remembered about a good primer about the AFL:</p><p>

I like that someone overbroad likes AFL. Never thought much of it, but it's nice the AFL's getting some international exposure.

Never really watched AFL that much. I'm going to have to say that my favourite team would be the Sydney Swans, only because I am the closest to them rather than anything. <.>

Swans fan - grew up playing in Sydney and in New Zealand - yep they play just at an embarrassingly worse level <img alt=":D" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/biggrin.png.929299b4c121f473b0026f3d6e74d189.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /> Ironically enough many of the people I knew who made the pros ended up playing for Collingwood - the one team I cannot stand.

I'd love to actually be able to play Aussie rules, but, while there are teams in the States, not one team is around where I live. And even if we did, I guarantee you could build a team of the worst New Zealand players, and the Kiwis could still win by a mile.

Not so much a fan as an immature person, I like the Fremantle Dockers because of the off colour jokes told at their expense
