The Pros and Cons of a hard drive failure

Recommended Posts

I was several seasons into a FBPB game that was intended to track the career of Austin Carr, the great Notre Dame guard drafted by the Cleveland Cavaliers in 1971. Carr's NBA career ended much too soon due to various injuries. His number was retired by the Cavs and today he is known as "Mr Cavalier." He works as the color commentator for Cavs TV broadcasts. You'll hear his signature phrase whenever a Cavs player dunks the ball: "And he THROWS the hammer...DOWN!!!"

I wanted to play a "what if" game in FBPB to see just how far Austin Carr could have gone in the NBA. But then, my hard drive failed. Of course, when that happened I was thinking about backing the game up, just in case.

The bad thing about a hard drive crash, of course, is losing so *much* exciting game history.

The good thing is that, due to the events of last summer, I'm inspired to start a new career game, beginning in 2003, the rookie season of LeBron James. :)
