Notable news:

- UFC's newest press conference was held last night. They revealed their new weight class, the Welterweight division. It's meant for fighters under 170 pounds. UFC CEO Dana White had this to say, "We are looking to expand both the company and the sport. There are some great fighters in the lower weight classes and we want to be the one showcasing them to the world!"

- Vitor "The Phenom" Belfort (3-0, 3-0 PRIDE FC) has been sidelined from his fight with Ikuhisa Minowa (2-1, 2-1 PRIDE FC) due to a major knee injury which will keep him away from the ring for one and a half years. Unfortunately PRIDE couldn't fight a replacement fighter in such a short notice.

- A big surprise decision was made after Tank Abbott (5-6, 5-6 UFC) was cut from the company following his defeat to Tra Telligman (6-1, 3-1 UFC). "I'm pretty darn pissed off at the moment but a few beers and it'll all be good!" is what the Tank had to say about the situation.

- Thomas Ramirez (0-3, 0-3 UFC) decided to call it quits after his recent defeat at the hands of Melton "The Punisher" Bowen (2-2, 2-2 UFC). He was thinking about returning to his trucking job and said that he had, even if a terrible one, a fun run in the UFC. Ramirez is the victim of the all time fastest knock out at the hands of Don Frye. It took Frye 8 seconds to knock Ramirez out at UFC 8 back in 1996.

- Royce Gracie's (14-0-1, 14-0-1 UFC) Light Heavyweight title defence match has been called off after he injured his back during his training for the match. It shall be seen if "Tiger" Vernon White (15-18-1, 4-0 UFC) gets his title shot after Gracie has recovered. Royce will be back after two and a half months.

- Jack McGlaughlin (1-5, 1-2 PRIDE FC) will be replacing Kazuo Takahashi (10-9-1, 1-1 PRIDE FC) in a fight against Chris "The Hammer" Haseman (4-1, 3-1 PRIDE FC). Takahashi has been plagued by injuries during the past two years and now he has sustained a moderate head injury sidelining him for two months.

STORM FC news:

- Joe "The Ghetto Man" Charles (5-2, 0-1 STORM FC) left the company after just one fight. He signed a three fight contract with the UFC and is expected to fight after he has recuperated from his defeat to Brad Kohler (8-0, 1-0 STORM FC).

- Andre "The Chief" Roberts (3-0, 1-0 STORM FC) signed an exclusive three fight contract with the UFC. He left STORM FC after winning his fight against Thaddeus Luster. The 32 years old wrestler/boxer is supposed to be ready to fight shortly.

- The contract of He-Man Gipson (0-3, 0-2 STORM FC) with the STORM FC has ran out and he has left the company. The 34 years old is looking to bounce back after getting a few wins in the local circuit.

- STORM FC fighter Thaddeus Luster (0-3, 0-2 STORM FC) has left the company and joined the UFC's new Welterweight division. Luster is a 35 year old American fighter who still has had no success in his three fight career. In a recent interview he talked about his career and he this he can turn the ship with his return to the UFC. He made his debut at UFC 2: No Way Out all the way back in March 1994.

- Renzo Gracie (6-0-1, 0-0-1 STORM FC) caused a big ruckus after some of his comments were caught on tape. The material was deemed very sexist and Renzo is now on some deep water following the incident. The 30 year old tried to laugh off the situation but the act made the people even more offended.

- After padding his record with two wins, Andy "The Hammer" Anderson (2-1, 2-0 STORM FC) has made a contract with the UFC. He started his career back in UFC 5 and made his return to the sport two years later gathering wins over Paul Herrera (0-3, 0-2 STORM FC) and Anthony "Mad Dog" Macias (1-3, 0-1 STORM FC).

- STORM FC is glad to announce that they have signed the former UFC star Tank Abbott (5-6, 5-6 UFC). Tank and many of MMA were surprised after Tank was cut following his defeat to Tra "Trauma" Telligman (6-1, 3-1 UFC).

- Pat Miletich (16-1, 0-1 STORM FC) has joined the UFC roster with a three fight contract. The 30 year old is looking to rise the ranks in the new Welterweight division. Miletich's undefeated streak came to an end in his STORM FC debut against the much bigger Hugo Duarte (7-0, 2-0 STORM FC) who was able to win Miletich with a technical knock out after 37 minutes.

Duarte and Beneteau to headline STORM FC 8!

The STORM FC Owner and CEO Art Davie revealed the next STORM FC event line up. The show will be headlined by Hugo Duarte (7-0, 2-0 STORM FC) and "Dangerous" Dave Beneteau (4-3, 2-0 STORM FC). Duarte is a Luta Livre fighter who is proficient on the ground. "Dangerous" Dave on the other hand is a heavy handed brawler with a bit of background from wrestling. Both men are 2-0 in STORM FC and the winner could be heading for a title shot or at least in a contendership match.

In the co-main event we see "El Tiburon" Todd Medina (3-3, 1-0 STORM FC) going head-to-head with Sean Daugherty (2-1-1, 2-0-1 STORM FC). Daugherty is one of the most interesting prospects in the STORM FC with his karate background and developing ground game. And he is only 22 years old! His opponent, "El Tiburon", is a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu fighter who is sure to try to get the match to the ground. Medina has fought in the UFC and Pancrase until landing in the STORM FC. We also see Erik Paulson (9-2-2, 2-0-1 STORM FC) back after his time limit draw with Sean Daugherty. Interesting STORM FC debuts include Tom "The Big Cat" Erikson (6-0-1, 0-0 STORM FC) and Todd Bjornethun (5-3, 0-0 STORM FC). The whole card can be seen below.

STORM FC 8: Duarte vs. Beneteau

Todd Bjornethun (5-3, 0-0) vs. Scott Baker (0-3, 0-2)

Round 1:

Bjornethun is quick to take Baker down and work his way to his back. From there he get the rear naked choke without much resistance and Baker taps out!

Official Decision: Todd Bjornethun beat Scott Baker by Submission(RNC) in 1:37.

Brian "Fury" Johnston (4-5, 0-0) vs. Anthony "Mad Dog" Macias (1-3, 0-1)

Round 1:

The fighters trade strikes and five minutes in Johnston gets the edge when he hits a right cross which visibly breaks Macias' nose. Macias stumbles backwards and falls down to the ground and Johnston is ready to finish him off. He unloads with massive rights and Macias is getting blasted. Finally he goes limp and the referee Jay Bonnar dives in to protect him!

Official Decision: Brian "Fury" Johnston beat Anthony "Mad Dog" Macias by Knock Out(Punch) in 5:43.

"The Texas Crazy Horse" Heath Herring (2-0, 1-0) vs. Kevin Rosier (1-3, 0-1)

Round 1:

Herring is fast to use his wrestling and he easily gets Rosier against the cage. He takes him down with a double leg and as soon as Rosier tried to scramble, Herring mounted him. He threw a few strikes to open Rosier's defence and locked in an arm triangle forcing Rosier to submit!

Official Decision: "The Texas Crazy Horse" Heath Herring beat Kevin Rosier by Submission(Arm Triangle) in 4:38 of round 1.

Alex Hunter (2-0, 0-0) vs. Tom "The Big Cat" Erikson (6-0-1, 0-0)

Round 1:

Erikson worked Hunter to the ground and kept him there for almost the whole 30 minutes. In the last five Hunter managed to turn the tide in a scramble and unleash a bit of punishment but neither men were able to end the bout. This is the first fight in STORM FC history to go to the judges.

Official Decision: Tom "The Big Cat" Erikson beat Alex Hunter by Unanimous Decision.

Ray Wizard (0-2, 0-1) vs. Erik Paulson (9-2-2, 2-0-1)

Round 1:

Paulson wrestled Wizard to the ground, eating a few shots on the way, and passed to the side control with relative ease. From there he simply locked in a kimura and ended the match.

Official Decision: Erik Paulson beat Ray Wizard by Submission(Kimura) in 1:27.

Co-Main Event

"El Tiburon" Todd Medina (3-3, 1-0) vs. Sean Daugherty (2-1-1, 2-0-1)

Round 1:

The fighters used a lot of time to feel out each other and Daugherty was the first one to truly strike with a beautiful spinning back fist! The strike was enough to drop Medina down and Daugherty was quick to follow. He started throwing strikes but only accomplished in tiring himself. They scrambled around in the ground and around the twenty minute mark they got up. Medina lunged forward with a long right hook but he was countered by a wicked right uppercut. Medina's brains were reset as he fell down to the ground unconscious. The referee Terry Massive was there to end the bout before Daugherty could follow up!

Official Decision: Sean Daugherty beat Todd Medina by Knock Out(Punch) in 19:22.

Main Event

Hugo Duarte (7-0, 2-0) vs. "Dangerous" Dave Beneteau (4-3, 2-0)

Round 1:

Duarte's single leg takedown was too strong and he got "Dangerous" Dave to the ground right away. He started working his way to the mount and in the hassle managed to get Beneteau's back in the progress. With both hooks in he threw a few strikes to soften Dave up and ultimately locked the rear naked choke up and forced the tap out!

Official Decision: Hugo Duarte beat "Dangerous" Dave Beneteau by Submission(RNC) in 5:40 of round 1.

Notable news:

- The UFC held a press conference where they promoted their upcoming event, UFC 22: Unforgiving where "Mach" Hayato Sakurai (5-0, 0-0 UFC) and "The Warrior" Brennan Kamaka (5-0, 0-0 UFC) will battle for the new UFC Welterweight title, and informed that they are going to bring in a new weight class between Light Heavyweight and Welterweight called Middleweight. Their weight classes are now as follows: Welterweight -170lbs, Middleweight -185lbs, Light Heavyweight -205lbs and Heavyweight over 206.

- By sheer coincidence Pancrase held a press conference the same day where they also introduced their new weight class, the Middleweight division. It will go with the same weight rules as in the UFC.

- The UFC has decided to make a contract with Dave Menne (7-0) who is best known for going to jail for six months this February after he was found guilty of Assault. Menne will be out of jail in two and a half months and is expected to make his debut right away.

- Joe Pardo (1-0, 1-0 Shooto) has pulled out of his match with Dwayne Cuson (1-1, 1-1 Shooto) scheduled for Shooto Exceptional held next month. No replacement could be found in time so the no match for Cuson.

- Courtney Turner's (2-0, 0-0 UFC) UFC debut had to be postponed after he injured his leg in training for his match with other debuting fighter Todd Bjornethun (6-3, 0-0 UFC). No replacement was found for Turner and so Bjornethun debut will also be pushed back.

STORM FC news:

- Ray Wizard (0-3, 0-2 STORM FC) has left the company and made his return to the UFC.

- Hugo Duarte (8-0, 3-0 STORM FC) has moved on on his career and joined the UFC roster. The 29 year old wrecked through the STORM FC roster and is looking to stay undefeated for his UFC run.

- Alex Hunter (2-1, 0-1 STORM FC) has moved to Japan to try his skills in Pancrase. He lost his STORM FC debut to "The Big Cat" Tom Erikson (7-0-1, 1-0 STORM FC) by Unanimous Decision.

- Anthony "Mad Dog" Macias (1-4, 0-2 STORM FC) broke his nose against the fist of Brian "Fury" Johnston (5-5, 1-0 STORM FC). He is expected to be back in three months.

- The UFC's Middleweight expansion has become very bad for STORM FC. Keith Mielke (3-2, 0-1 STORM FC), Sean Daugherty (3-1-1, 3-0-1 STORM FC), Scott Baker (0-4, 0-2 STORM FC) and Todd Bjornethun (6-3, 1-0 STORM FC) were the first ones to be confirmed to leave and there is a word out that more fighter have signed contracts with the UFC but they have a fight scheduled with the STORM FC and so they haven't finalized the contracts.

Notable news:

- Mark Schultz (6-1, 6-1 UFC) has decided to end his career in the age of 37. Schultz was on a two fight winning streak which made his retirement surprising for many.

- The fight between Joel Sutton (2-2, 0-0 Shooto) and Paul Herrera (0-3, 0-0 Shooto) has been scrapped after Sutton sustained a moderate back injury in training. No replacement fighter could be found in time so Herrera will have to wait for a new fight.

- "The King of Rock n Rumble" Elvis Sinosic (2-1, 1-1 Shooto) had his bout at Shooto Payback cancelled after his opponent Francesco Maturi (3-4, 0-3 Shooto) sustained a minor injury to his pelvis area. No replacement was found for Maturi.

- In our patented ranking system, which allows us to determine the size of a company, Shooto has fallen from Low Level National to High Level Regional. Their broadcaster WOWOW has been disappointed by the level of star power shown by Shooto. They stated that they will now work more with home grown talent and leave the foreigners away.

- "The Axe Murderer" Wanderlei Silva (8-0, 4-0 Shooto) has made a contract with the UFC and had his Shooto Light Heavyweight title stripped from him. Shooto also lost Donnie Chapell (2-2, 1-1 Shooto) and Carl "Malenko" Ognibene (3-1, 1-1 Shooto). Silva made a 4 fight contract while Chapell and Ognibene only got 3 fights.

STORM FC news:

- The next batch of STORM FC fighters have left the company for UFC. The fighters are the now former STORM FC Openweight champion Renzo Gracie (7-0-1, 1-0-1 STORM FC), his opponent Frank Shamrock (13-7-2, 2-1-1 STORM FC), John "The Machine" Lober (3-2, 1-2 STORM FC), Olympic wrestling candidate Matt "The Law" Lindland (5-0, 1-0 STORM FC) and the only one making his return to the UFC Trent Jenkins (4-3, 0-1 STORM FC, 0-2 UFC). We don't know if this list will grow in the near future but this has surely been a big hit for STORM FC.

- Anthony "Mad Dog" Macias (1-4, 0-2 STORM FC, 1-2 UFC) was the next one to leave for the UFC. He makes his return there after three years.

- Erik Paulson (10-2-2, 3-0-1 STORM FC) followed Macias just a day after. The 32 year old Paulson is looking to wreak havoc in the UFC Middleweight division.

- Emmanuel "Manny" Yarbrough (4-1, 0-0 STORM FC) has ended his MMA career. He was supposed to be the opponent of Harold Howard (4-2, 3-0 STORM FC) but injured himself, ultimately ending his career. Manny was replaced by Christopher Leninger (3-3, 0-0 STORM FC) in the main event of STORM FC 10.

Howard brings in his top quality karate skills while Leninger is sure to take him down with his judo background. Howard is on a three fight winning streak and he is looking to keep it alive. Leninger has just been released by the UFC and is looking to bounce his way back with a big win here.

The co-main event is a fight between "The Giant With Attitude" Jon Hess (2-1, 1-1 STORM FC) and Teila Tuli (2-3, 2-2 STORM FC). Hess is a big monster who has big knockout power in his right hand. Tuli is a sumo wrestler but he has shown glimpses of power in his hands too. Other interesting fighters on the show include Patrick Smith (5-7, 1-1 STORM FC), the top quality prospect with wrestling background Kevin Randleman (6-0, 1-0 STORM FC) and American BJJ fighter John Lewis (5-0-3, 2-0 STORM FC). No updates tonight but news about the future. I will start my civilian service in the 2nd of February and will be away for a month except for the weekends. I will try to make as many updates ready in this last week so I can release them during the month and of course I can work on this on weekend.

And regarding the hope for more pictures, it's damn hard to find good pictures for over half of these fighters so no fighter pics except in injury updates and bigger news. And I really can't think of other places to use pictures in. I should learn HTML to make the formatting a bit nicer.
