TEW Interview with EFL Booker, Hexx

http://i.imgur.com/vUBTsHM.jpg

Recently TEW managed to get ahold of head booker of EFL, Hexx, and talk to him about the fledgling promotion as well as aspirations among other things.

TEW: Thanks for sitting down with us today. How have you handled the transition into being a booker as well as wrestler?

Hexx: It isn't too different. The past several years I helped book several smaller independent shows and also served as a road agent. We aren't being overly ambitious at least at the moment so booking is pretty simple.

TEW: So far reviews of the show have been generally positive and you manage to have a steady crowd. How do you feel the promotion is doing overall?

Hexx: It has been full of positives. We have been able to bring back the fans we have and we have gotten enough sponsers to where we are making money and continue to run a monthly show without worry.

TEW: Does a profit mean we might see new roster members soon?

Hexx: That is up in the air. I would love to bring two to four new guys in, but we have to evaluate what we want. More younger wrestlers to help out or bring in another veteran or two to help in training the younger group? I like the balance we have now.

TEW: Anyone in particular been impressing you out of the current roster?

Hexx: La Bestia Purpura has been an amazing person to have around. I would love to see him get signed by someone like OLLIE or MPWF. He has been helpful in so many ways. A great guy to have in the locker room and he also helps with road agent duties which takes some extra pressure off of me and Decimalo.

TEW: Of course it seems he and Lucia Valencia have become an item. Has that been a problem?

Hexx: Not at all. Both are professionals and good people. Both know what the business is about and at the end of the day they get the job done and cause no problems.

TEW: There are rumors that Decimalo is considering retirement. He'll be fourty-six this May. How much do you think he has left in the tank?

Hexx: *Laugh* That is someone you have to ask him. He has been wrestling for almost thirty years which is amazing. I have known him forever and I know he can still go even if he feels the need to wind down. I think when he decides he is done he will announce it formally and focus on being just a road agent and enjoy life behind the scenes.

TEW: How about you? You will be forty this October. Have you considered retirement?

Hexx: It has crossed my mind the past year or two, but ever since I started working with the guys here at EFL I feel invigorated. Even an old man like me feels like he is learning a few things here and there. Right now I don't feel any nagging issues and I keep in good shape. You have to deal with this old man at least for another year or two. *Laugh*

TEW: You recently crowned Scorpion as your new champion. Was that your plan all along?

Hexx: We went through a few scenarios, but he was one of the five guys we considered and I feel he was one of the best options. He is someone that is still young enough to have a good long career and he has been established long enough I think fans will be fine with him being a champion. I hope it is the first of many titles that he holds before his career is over.

TEW: Did you ever consider putting the belt on yourself?

Hexx: I have never been a singles champion so it was tempting! *Laugh* But no, I was always going to be the guy putting the eventual winner over. Now of course he better be careful! I will be gunning for him.

TEW: Anything else you would like to add?

Hexx: I just want everyone that reads this to just give us a look. We aren't promising the best action in Mexico. We just want some eyes to see there are young workers that deserve a shot at bigger things as well as veterans that could use a second chance.

TEW: I think that wraps things up. Once again thank you for your time.

Hexx: Always a pleasure.

Romero takes the pin here... should be a great ME either way.

Cyclon vs La Bestia Purpura

I... just like La Bestia Purpura better

Fray Valiente Jr vs Mascara Roja Jr

Valentine is more over...

Hurricane Higor Rosa vs Sunburst

Rosa seems to be getting the push here as the #1 Contender

El Hijo Del Aguila vs Jose Flamenco

Aguila is useless in this game.

<strong>El Hijo Del Neutron vs Payaso Jr</strong></p></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p>

Neutron finds no humor in Payaso's antics. Then again it seems to be enough to frustrate him at times and the clown gets a few near falls. One near fall ends up being reversed by Neutron and he rolls over on top of his opponent and tangles his feet into the ropes for leverage. The referee fails to notice and gives the first fall to Neutron. The second fall comes soon after when El Hijo Del Neutron hits the Neutron Bomb and scores the second straight fall, ending a short, but sweet match for the young stars.</p><p> </p><p>

El Hijo Del Neutron: Another win. I see to be getting a lot of those lately, but where is the title hype? I am not in the conversation at all? <strong>Cyclon vs La Bestia Purpura</strong></p></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p>

A good mix of veteran talent and youth that put on a great display. This match is less rough around the edges and may lack a bit of the flashy nature of the last bout and replaces it with a bit more technical skill due to Bestia's involvement. Cyclon puts up a good fight, but finds himself losing two straight falls, the final with Bestia scoring a vicious Beast Bomb for the victory.</p><p> </p><p>

Things shift to backstage for the first time tonight as Agueda Alonso has with her the tag team of Vincente Romero and Scorpion.</p><p> </p><p>

Aguedo Alonso: First of all congratulations on the title win, Scorpion. You aren't defending tonight, but you face two of the men that are top contenders for your title as well as teaming with another. Are you feeling pressured?</p><p> </p><p>

Scorpion: Like, nah. I mean there is some, but I am a pretty chill guy. I do want to thank Vincente for last month as well. Once we get this settled I know you want a shot and, like, that is cool with me. We just have to take care of business tonight first.</p><p> </p><p>

Vincente Romero: I got a bit of a score to settle with Los Academia anyways. See I have what they don't. I have respect for what my partner tonight has done and I was not going to allow Hexx to steal another win because of his partner. Tonight me and Scorpion will put them in their place and then we might talk about a title match.</p><p> </p><p>

Scorpion: That's all cool with me, buddy. Now come on and lets prepare.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Fray Valiente Jr vs Mascara Roja Jr</strong></p></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p>

Blink and you could almost miss this one. Both men are quick movers and Roja even scores a very early pinfall with the Mushroom Stomp only for a few seconds later to be pulled into a schoolboy by surprise and Fray evens things up. Valiente catches with Roja with a kick to the chin in the final moments of the bout and he picks up what many might call a surprise win when he nails the Valiente Splash and gets his first victory.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Sunburst vs Hurricane Higor Rosa with Padre Carrasco</strong></p></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p>

Rosa doesn't look to be playing any games and he corners Sunburst to deliver several vicious punches. He shows a mean streak much like last month and he nails that left hook to knock Sunburst out cold. He doesn't even need to, but he picks him up and hits a second left hook to make a statement as he gets the second pinfall.</p><p> </p><p>

Padre Carrasco enters the ring with a microphone just moments later as Rosa kicks a bit at Sunburst to nudge him out of the ring as the ref admonishes him for doing so.</p><p> </p><p>

Padre Carrasco: Apparently our message wasn't heard last month. I understand ownership not being happy with how things went and they felt the need for this tag match, but I believe I said my client wanted a title shot this month. We even said it wouldn't be pretty tonight if things ended up differently. Have we made ourselves clear yet?</p><p> </p><p>

Hurricane Higor Rosa: To the one in back that called me 'weird boxer guy'. You want a piece of me come get it. I don't run from anyone. Scorpion, if you know what is best you give me a title match since you cheated to get past me to begin with. I am tired of games. Ignore me again and well....you'll see. That isn't a threat. That is a promise.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Jose Flamenco vs El Hijo Del Aguila with Lucia Valencia</strong></p></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p>

Jose seems to be falling victom to his own game in this match. Mostly Lucia doesn't seem to mind doing what she can to distract and help her client get the win over the man that has been harassing them the past few months. At one point he goes out to try and flirt with Lucia and it allows Aguila to jump him and daze him long enough to not beat the count back into the ring. A frustrated Flamenco forgets about Lucia after that at least for a bit as he beats down his opponent. Lucia then gets on the apron and Jose gets distracted again. She waggles her brow and swishes her skirt some which gets his full attention and gives Aguila time to recover. He spins Jose about and nails him with the Super Scythe and gets the upset over Jose.</p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><p><strong><span style="font-size:12px;">Winner: El Hijo Del Aguila</span></strong></p><p><strong><span style="font-size:12px;"> </span></strong></p><p><strong><span style="font-size:12px;">

To the back once more. This time Agueda Alonso has the team of Los Academia with her to talk about the main event.</p><p> </p><p>

Agueda Alonso: It has been awhile since we have seen you two team together. Are you both ready for tonight?</p><p> </p><p>

Hexx: What kind of question is that? We have been one of the most consistent tag teams for years. We have won multiple titles and have at one point been considered only second to Dos Phoenix. What do you think?</p><p> </p><p>

Decimalo: Some things just get better with age and we will prove it tonight. Those two? They have never teamed together. What chance do they really have? In a few short minutes you will watch and remember just how great we are as a team.</p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><p><strong><span style="font-size:12px;">Rating: 40</span></strong></p></div><p></p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Los Academia vs Vincente Romero and Scorpion</strong></p></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p>

Scorpion proves he can hang with the veterans and does well enough to fulfill his end of making this the match of the night. Then again given the other three talents involved it shouldn't be too surprising. Los Academia work so smooth and have not lost a step at all as a team even if Decimalo has been showing his age from time to time. It also means Hexx does most of the work for his team including being the unfortunate one to take the Scorp bomb that puts his team down one to nothing. Then again he evens it out not too much later when he manages to get Scorpion to tap out to Indian Deathlock. The pace gets pretty frantic after that and in all the chaos Decimalo lands a low blow on Vincente Romero and then locks in STF while Hexx fights with Scorpion on the outside. Vincente struggles some, but ends up tapping out.</p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><p><strong><span style="font-size:12px;">Winner: Los Academia</span></strong></p><p><strong><span style="font-size:12px;"> </span></strong></p><p><strong><span style="font-size:12px;">

EFL is Hiring

Or so is the rumor. Hexx and Decimalo have been pleased with how the company has been running and feel they can expand the roster without causing issues with their monthly budget. It seems they are looking to add two to four new members of the roster and their focus is more on younger talents as they feel they have enough veterans to help out for the time being. No word on who might be brought in, but it seems they do have some criteria on the type of people they are looking for. Their main priority is avoiding anyone with a criminal background. While they do believe ever deserves a chance, Hexx and Decimalo believe the less negative attention they might get as a fledgling company the better. They are also looking to avoid more spotty workers and those that tend to play themselves off as psychotic. They are left with a deep pool of talent to choose from and many names have been thrown around, but as of yet none are confirmed and it seems no new talent will show up at the next show in June. Below is the card which will feature Scorpion's first defense of the EFL Campeon de Mexico.

Humberto Tortega and Luigi Marin welcome everyone to the show once again then ask for a moment of silence for the three lucha libre legends that passed away over the course of the past month. The crowd has almost doubled in size from the last show and now the seats around ring side are filled up with pretty much the second row being sparse and the third row back being mostly empty.

Mascara Roja Jr vs Sunburst

Quick paced and more focused on the high flying moves of both men than anything else. It is kept short and sweet since both men are still not too well versed in carrying a long match unless a more veteran presence is involved. Sunburst ends up getting his first win since joining EFL with two straight falls, the second one coming when he delivers a Sun-Spot off the top rope and puts Mascara Roja Jr away.

Winner: Sunburst

Things shift to the back for the first time of the evening. Agueda Alonso has El Hijo Del Aguila and Lucia Valencia with her.

Agueda Alonso: Thanks for joining me. Jose Flamenco seems infatuated with you, Lucia and in turn it has made things rough for both you and El Hijo Del Aguila. Tonight he gets his rematch, but you are barred from ringside this time around as he complained you cost him the match.

Lucia Valencia: Maybe I did, but how many matches has he cost Aguila? I am not interested to say the least and I am confident in my client that he can win this without me around. Maybe once Jose loses again tonight he will learn to leave us be.

El Hijo Del Aguila: Agueda, all I know is I want this to be over. I have aspirations to get a shot at the title and as long as Jose Flamenco won't leave Lucia and I alone I have a feeling I will never get that chance. Tonight I hope to end this once and for all.

El Hijo del Aguila vs Jose Flamenco

It is easy to tell these men do not like one another the way they brawl about the ring. They care not about being flashy right now and are more intent on doing as much damage as they can to one another. Jose Flamenco gets a surprise rollup for the first fall, but a few moments later Aguila hits a Scythe Kick to even things up. At one point a frustrated Flamenco spits right in Aguila's face and he loses it. It is the opening Flamenco needs and he stuns Aguila with a stiff strike then nails the Strutting Knee Drop to get the win.

Hexx vs Payaso Jr

The veteran seems not in the mood for Payaso's humor this evening and really takes it to the youth. Payaso does manage some offense here and there, but for the most part the veteran makes this one giant lesson in pain for Payaso who first eats a bridging fisherman's suplex to go down zero to one and then taps out to a single leg crab to give Hexx the clean sweep victory.

Agueda Alonso is backstage once again. This time she is with the owner of EFL as well as the challenger for Scopion's EFL Campeon de Mexico.

Agueda Alonso: Your partner just now walked away with a win. Do you feel like you will do the same later on when you take on Scorpion?

Decimalo: What kind of dumb question is that? Of course I can walk away with the title this evening. Scorpion has been around and has learned some things, but I have learned far far more tricks. He got lucky beating Hexx when that cheater Vincente Romero came in and helped him. Tonight no one will be allowed by ringside unless they want to be fired. No excuses for you tonight when you lose, Scorpion.

Vincente Romero and Fray Valiente Jr vs La Bestia Purpura and Hurricane Higor Rosa with Padre Carrasco

Romero and Valiente seem to be on the same page, but there seems to be a bit of tension on the other side. Rosa seems to think he is the one in charge and the wild Purpura isn't one to take orders. Despite this this match isn't a cakewalk for Romero and Valiente. Even though dysfunctional, both opponents are dangerous and they get along enough that they manage to get the first pinfall when La Bestia Purpura hits the beast bomb on Valiente. Vincente and Valiente start to fight back and it looks like they got Purpura on the ropes at one point when Romero and Purpura go tumbling out of the ring. Fray Valiente looks to assist his partner, but instead gets laid out with that left hook of Hurricane Higor Rosa who gets the win as Romero and Purpura brawl on the outside.

La Bestia Purpura does not stick around to gloat with his partner and instead goes to the back. Padre applauds his man and then starts to speak into the microphone.

Padre Carrasco: Just another day for Hurricane Higor Rosa! You ignore him again and think sticking him in a tag match will distract him from the task at hand? We said we are not going to take this anymore. We want our title match and we want it now.

http://i.imgur.com/FGGoNzn.jpg

It isn't Scorpion that comes out, but instead El Hijo Del Neutron comes out looking unimpressed and a he has a microphone of his own.

El Hijo Del Neutron: Last time I checked your client lost to Scorpion already. Ever think that is why you never got a match? How about you stop complaining and step aside for the real future of this company? Tonight I take on Cyclon and beat him and next month I will be the NEW Campeon de Mexico!

Hurricane Higor Rosa doesn't seem happy about it and seems to be motioning for Neutron to come to the ring, but Padre Carrasco seems more thoughtful than anything. He puts a hand on his client's shoulder and he leans in to whisper something. Rosa calms down and he starts to leave, Padre remains in the ring just a moment longer to say something to Neutron.

Padre Carrasco: Sure, go ahead and try to get that win. You couldn't even beat El Hijo Del Aguila. You winning the title? Well that is a better joke than anything Payaso Jr has come up with.

Neutron looks livid, but he refrains from starting a fight given his match is next. Rosa and Padre just get a good laugh as they pass by Neutron and head to the back.

El Hijo Del Neutron vs Cyclon

Neutron is wrestling with a chip on his shoulder and it seems Padre's words got to him. Not a good thing when facing on a veteran like Cyclon and the result is Neutron being down one to nothing after falling victim to a Sky Twister Press. Neutron refocuses himself and he evens things out not too long after even if he does use the ropes for leverage when the referee wasn't in position to see. The youth does get the win in the end as well when a miscalculation from Cyclon results in him being hefted up and being slammed to the mat via Neutron Bomb.

Things shift to the back one last time for the evening. Agueda Alonso has the champ next to her and Scorpion looks far from tense despite the fact he is making his first defense shortly.

Agueda Alonso: In a few moments you finally get to go out there and attempt to make the first defense on the title you won just a few months ago. How do you feel?

Scorpion: I feel pretty good, you know? I can't let myself get tense. That is just going to more mistakes. Like, I just got to go out there and do what I do best. Decimalo is a legit tough guy, but I can do this. I beat his partner to win this and I can beat him tonight to retain. So like, sit back and watch, Agueda. This is going to be pretty cool.

Scorpion © vs Decimalo

The match starts out slow and methodical as both men try to feel one another out. Decimalo is the one to make the first move and he controls most of the early part of the match, but despite that can't seem to pick up a pinfall. He goes for an armbar submission, but Scorpion gets to the ropes. He perhaps is playing a bit of possum as he gets a surprise schoolboy for a pinfall when Decimalo goes to try and pull the champion to the center of the ring and relock on the hold. The challenger is furious and starts to beat down the champ, but once again just can't seem to get a three count. He might be doing more damage to himself as he seems more worn out as he continues to try and even things up and instead finds himself dealing with Scorpion getting a second wind. The champion gets momentum and he catches an attempted low blow and turns it into a quick suplex that sends Decimalo reeling. Scorpion quickly capitalizes and nails the veteran with a Scorp Bomb and retains.

Two New Faces for EFL

http://i.imgur.com/BtE2HKS.jpghttp://i.imgur.com/gBBdV3F.jpg

EFL has recently finished up two new contracts that bring more youth to the budding new company. While one name is virtually unknown, the other is someone who has had experience working with a larger promotion. It was back in May that Entropy walked out of MPWF and while the reasons were never fully known many signs pointed that he had issues with owner/booker Domino and he felt it best to leave. Now he brings some name value to a promotion that only has six shows under its belt. He might not have the audience that MPWF has, but he has several young and hungry performers now to work with and improve his own skills to perhaps move on to a bigger promotion again one day.

The other new signee is Hijo Del Vigilante. He is a relatively new face to the world of lucha libre and has only had one match this year at a local show before being picked up by EFL. Not much is known about his skills and he seems like a perfect project for the likes of Decimalo and Hexx to work with.

Both of these new signings will be performing at the next EFL show in July. Among the debut of these two will be a ladder match for the services of Lucia Valencia between El Hijo Del Aguila and Jose Flamenco as well as Scorpion putting his title on the line against the upstart El Hijo Del Neutron. The card for the even can be seen below.

The company for a second month straight experiences a new record for largest crowd. While still a small crowd, it is more than double than what the first few shows had experienced. Humberto Tortega and Luigi Marin spend a little bit of time going over the card before things officially kick off.

Entropy vs Mascara Roja Jr

Entropy gets his first action since walking out on MPWF and he is much like most of the other young luchadors that work for EFL. There are flashes of brilliance mixed with a few rookie mistakes. He and Roja are given a decent amount of time and Entropy wins this match with two straight falls, the final fall coming via Chaos Theory.

Entropy is heading to the back when Padre Carasco and Hurricane Higor Rosa step out on their way to the ring. Padre sort of pauses and gets a sly smile as he starts to talk to Entropy. It sounds like he is trying to get the masked man to become a client. Entropy gives no real response and eventually just steps around Padre and continues on his way back. Padre looks rather annoyed he was ignored in such a manner, but leads his client to the ring.

Hurricane Higor Rosa with Padre Carrasco vs Cyclon

Cyclon starts off strong and his experience gives him a nice edge against the stronger Rosa. Even so it is an uphill battle due to him also having to deal with Padre on the outside who distracts the referee a few times and even tries to trip up Cyclon if he thinks he can get away with it. It is distractions like that that eventually leave Cyclon open to a big left hook that knocks him out cold. After a pinfall he is set up in the corner and hit with another as Rosa claims a victory with two straight falls.

Things shift to backstage for the first time tonight as Agueda Alonso has Jose Flamenco with her.

Agueda Alonso: You and El Hijo Del Aguila meet in our first ever ladder match tonight. On the line is the services of Lucia Valencia. How do-

The microphone is taken from her a bit forcefully and Jose just glares at her briefly before he calms himself and speaks.

Jose Flamenco: I know what is on the line tonight. Finally I will be able to rescue the lovely Lucia from that vile man and show she has been on the wrong side all along. We will finally be together and all will be right in the world. Once I am with her there is nothing that will be able to stop me. I will be complete and ready to take this company by storm.

He tosses the microphone at Agueda who fumbles with it to keep it from hitting the ground as Jose struts away in a confident manner.

Lost Academia and La Bestia Purpura vs Sunburst, Fray Valiente Jr and Payaso Jr

It is a bit of a one sided battle. The three best in ring workers against three mostly unproven commodities. It is certainly more a lesson to the younger workers to help them improve if anything. Even so the technicos do get bits of offense in to make it not look like a total squash, but they easily lose by two straight falls. Hexx makes Payaso Jr tap to a cross armbreaker and then La Bestia Purpura nails Valiente Jr with a Beast Bomb to secure the victory.

To the back once more as Agueda Alonso this time has El Hijo del Aguila and Lucia Valencia with her.

Agueda Alonso: I spoke with your opponent earlier and he certainly seems focused. I am sure this is your first ladder match and it is against someone who has really been a problem for you since you first arrived. Do you feel adequately prepared for this match?

El Hijo Del Aguila: As much as I can be. I never really thought I would be in such a match this early in my career and honestly it is for something that is important to me. Lucia has been very helpful since we teamed up and we have become good friends. I am just not failing myself tonight if I lose. I fail her as well.

Lucia Valencia: And you won't lose. I wouldn't have agreed to such a stipulation if I didn't have faith in you. Tonight the right man wins.

El Hijo Del Aguila just nods and he takes a deep breath. Lucia takes him by the arm and goes to lead him to the ring.

El Hijo Del Aguila with Lucia Valencia vs Jose Flamenco

Both men seem a bit uncomfortable at first being in a ladder match, but they seem to calm their nerves and start to implement the ladder into some of their spots. Both men come close several times, but they never can quite get it. Jose manages to pin Aguila under the ladder and it looks like he has for sure won, but Lucia gets involved and tries to tug Jose down. He gets down and has Lucia cornered as the ref tries to stop things. Aguila manages to slip free and Jose turns around to get booted in the stomach before being nailed with a Super Scythe. Lucia cheers Aguila on as he climbs the ladder and retrieves her contract.

Hijo Del Vigilante vs Vincente Romero

Vigilante is not as lucky as Entropy when it comes to first opponents. He has the veteran Vincente Romero to deal with and he has quite a bit of trouble in getting any real offense in. Romero works the rookie over for the most part and Vigilante does at least get some nice moves in to catch the veteran by surprise. It just isn't enough and he loses via two straight falls. The second one happening when he taps to Vincente's Mexican Deathlock.

El Hijo Del Neutron steps out with microphone in hand. He has a cocky swagger to his step and a big grin on his face as he makes his way to the ring.

El Hijo Del Neutron: Well well well. It seems that someone smartened up around here and put the right man in the main event. The reign of Scorpion looks like it will be a short one and tonight will start the age of Neutron. You will see me become the greatest champion ever as I will take down Scorpion then you can watch as each challenger step up only to be defeated again and again. Thank you coming out tonight. Thank you for coming to see history being made.

Scorpion © vs El Hijo Del Neutron

Many could have been apprehensive on this main event given the men involved, but both came with their working shoes on and delivered a solid one that was worthy to headline the show. Scorpion looks much more comfortable in his second defense and Neutron showed that he can be relied on to put on a good match high on the card if needed. He even picks up the first fall, though he needed to tie his feet up in the ropes to get it. A few minutes later Scorpion tied it up with a surprise schoolboy that got a three count. It is a back and forth affair after that with both men coming close to securing the pinfall. All it takes is one little mistake from Neutron and it allows Scorpion to capitalize. He hefts Neutron up and delivers the Scorp Bomb which leads to the pinfall and victory.
