The crowd lets out a loud roar as they celebrate the arrival of the HCG head booker. He's got a huge grin on his face as he announces the main event for this evening's show. AL: So I know you guys were excited to see Herculez in action tonight, but unfortunately things don't always work out as planned. So we've brought in what we believe is the most dangerous man that has yet to step foot in the Hollywood Championship Grappling ring. The notorious... the intimidating... ARES The lights in the arena flicker as the big man makes his way up to the entrance ramp. http://i.imgur.com/umK99b5.jpg Ares stands in front of the head booker, Ace Lomax, as his new boss talks him up a bit more for the crowd. AL: What you are witnessing is potentially the future of this company, a threat to the top of the food chain. Fargo Korbean showed off his strength and ability to withstand punishment as he took all of Red Rock's strikes with a smile on his face. Fargo shakes off the damage as he continuously moves forward, much to Red Rock's frustration. Rock finally finds his opportunity though, as he catches Fargo with a big boot to the gut and plants Korbean's head into the canvas with a snap DDT. Rock rolls him over and scores the pin over the clearly unconscious Fargo Korbean in a very difficult match for both men. We see him head towards a closed door which turns out to be none other than Owen Money's. RL: Mister Owen, I have a serious problem that I would like to bring up with you right now. OM: Hey Ray, sure why don't you take a seat and tell me all about your problems... as if I don't have enough of my own. RL: Are you sure, Mister Owen? Because I can come back at another time if something is bothering you. OM: Son, these don't seem like the problems that are just gonna' go away... tell me what's on your mind. RL: It's not just I who have a problem, Mister Owen, but all of Hollywood Championship Grappling of course. Mister Owen, I am talking to you about Red Rock. OM: Ugh... Money looks very frustrated but, regardless, gives Lisbon an answer. OM: Listen Ray, there's nothing I can do about him right now. I know you're frustrated... wait... what exactly are you frustrated about? RL: He is a criminal Mister Owen, how can you not see this!? OM: Riiiiiiiiiight... See Ray, let me give you a lesson in the good old fashioned art of business here in the United States. You love America right, Ray? RL: Oh for sure Mister Owen, more than anything! OM: Well Ray, there's one thing I love here in the United States, and that's money. And Rock, well, he brings in a lot of it. So I'm sorry Ray, but there's really nothing I can do. Now of course, if Rock actually so happens to commit some kind of crime here, feel free to report it to me... or you know, the police... unless you're scared of getting immigration called on you... RL: What? OM: What? Now get out of my office, I have to figure out what I'm gonna' do about those Black Market punks because my kids clearly can't handle their own business themselves. Lisbon walks out of Money's office, well... he's escorted out more than anything as Owen Money continues on with his rant about the Black Market. He's clearly tense and he's not grinning ear to ear like he was last week. MS: I gotta' say, I'm a little upset. Caleb told me last month that I was gonna' get a call. Caleb made it sound like he was gonna' show up and we were gonna' go head to head but look where we are now; I'm here and he's not. So I think we all know who the real punk is in this situation. But I'm All Night Mike, so I'm still out here looking for a match. If anybody in that backstage area is man enough to face off with the man himself, Mikey Mayhem, All Night Mike, whatever you wanna' call me, I'm right here... WOO! Unfortunately, he was ultimately set up to fail as Santorelli had him beat at every turn. Mike was landing rights and lefts and was basically just making Joey look slow for the majority of the match. Santorelli picks up a quick victory after a nasty running knee to the belly is followed up by a quick swinging neckbreaker for the pin. Mike Santorelli defeats Joey Devastation in 8:53 via pinfall --- http://i59.tinypic.com/2qvbosl.jpghttp://i62.tinypic.com/5d5qbs.jpg Santorelli is visibly excited after his impressive victory over Joey Devastation, but that excitement is short lived as Caleb Adonis is quick to hit the ring and starts throwing everything but the kitchen sink at Santorelli, much to the dismay of the crowd. Santorelli tries to crawl out of the ring but he is pulled back in from the corner by the smirking Caleb Adonis. Santorelli finally manages to get himself away from his rival and rolls his way out of the ring, but the two maintain eye contact as Santorelli backs his way up the entrance ramp. --- http://i59.tinypic.com/eah8bb.jpghttp://i62.tinypic.com/2rzzx1i.jpg vs http://i.imgur.com/StltJyu.jpghttp://i.imgur.com/zvjbagI.jpg The Professionals © vs The Black Market HCG Hollywood Tag Team Championship The Black Market look confident as ever as they take on, arguably, the best tag team that Hollywood Championship Grappling has ever seen. Simon Walker & Reggie Brown faced off to start the match and for awhile it looked like Reggie was getting the better of the exchanges. Reggie throws some hard punches that make Simon reconsider his game plan and he subsequently tags out to his partner, Cole. Reggie stays in the ring and continues to light Cole up with punches and kicks before tossing him into his own corner and blasting him with a big knee to the stomach. Reggie & ROC spend some time tagging in and out and are looking better than ever, maybe even on the way to winning their first ever tag team championships. However, that would not be the case. Despite their utter dominance, it was just not meant to be. The Professionals were still unable to perform up to their usual standards, however, an unexpected appearance from Owen Money lead to the Professionals picking up a come-from-behind victory when Simon Walker picked up the clutch pin on a distracted ROC Fresh The Professionals retain against The Black Market in 13:10 via pinfall after a distraction from Owen Money --- http://i.imgur.com/d7cfPYp.jpghttp://i.imgur.com/6sZZwTy.jpg The Furlong Brothers make their ways down the entrance ramp with microphones in hand while Owen Money makes his escape. The Professionals are laying motionless in the ring, both exhausted from their very competitive bout with The Black Market. HH: I gotta' say, if that's how easy it is to give those boys a beating then by gawd, Al, we shoulda' done it that way last month. HA: To be honest Harris, I think you're right. HH: But it'd be silly of us to ask for a title shot after what happened last month, right? HA: Right. But what wouldn't be silly is offerin' up a challenge that ain't nobody dumb enough to refuse... well, I don't know about you guys but I like the idea at least so here goes... HH: Next month, three-way tag match... The Professionals, The Black Market, and us... in a Tables, Ladders and Chairs match. HA: Well obviously they're not gonna' wanna' do that Harris, that's just too dang crazy for those boys, they ain't like us. But I know one guy who wants to make that happen, and that's Owen Money. Come on partner, I know you love you some cash, so whatever it takes to make it happen... just know that we can make it worth your while. HH: And Walker boys, you'll be seein' us next month whether you like it or not, so best be ready for it. --- http://i58.tinypic.com/2hnavjp.jpg vs http://i58.tinypic.com/2h6et0o.jpg Big Bubba © vs Ares HCG Hollywood Championship Big Bubba is much more tentative in his feeling out process this time around as he's not quite sure what Ares is planning on throwing at him. Unfortunately, Ares doesn't give him a whole lot of time to think, as he jumps at the first chance he gets to do some damage. Ares rushes in and blasts the champion with a flurry of rights and lefts before tossing him over his shoulder and carrying him over to the opposite corner. Ares controls the match for the first five minutes or so but Big Bubba finally finds a way to compete, as well as his rhythm. Bubba eventually finds his distance as well, and instead of taking rights and lefts, he is exchanging them, giving back as many as he is taking. One catches Ares flush on the jaw and he buckles for a moment, and Bubba follows it up with a flurry of stomps and knees. The two are turning this into a brawl instead of the typical wrestling match, but the fans are loving it nonetheless. The match comes to an end when Ares misses a big clothesline and Bubba catches him as he passes by, wrapping his arms around his mid-section and hurling him over his back with a huge German suplex for the pin. Bubba defends his championship and starts celebrating his victory for the fans, but as we have come to find out this evening, celebrations are often short-lived in Hollywood... Big Bubba retains against Ares in 16:02 via pinfall --- http://i58.tinypic.com/2hnavjp.jpghttp://i.imgur.com/eYfy7DA.jpghttp://i58.tinypic.com/2h6et0o.jpg A significantly larger, and hairier, looking Herculez hits the ring like a freight train, destroying everything in sight. Big Bubba takes the brunt of the damage as he is standing in the middle of the ring as Herculez makes his arrival. Much like the attack that Bubba suffered a few months prior, Herculez is relentless in his assault. Bubba looks like a deer in headlights as he seems completely shocked by the attack to the point that he cannot move, until Ares stands up and makes eye contact with the attacker. Herculez moves away from Bubba which allows him to roll his way out of the ring as the two giants face off with one another. Security hits the ring before the two have an opportunity to come to blows, but this is the kind of foreshadowing that has become all too common in Hollywood, and it is almost a certainty that these two will cross paths in the near future... We had just had a great show, we had new credible threats to the championship, and we had started the road to our next event with a nice little boost. We were the most popular company on the independent scene that month, with everyone seeing The Club & CWT's efforts as lackluster compared to ours. Ares did an awesome job in the main event and we managed to bring in some new guys for the next show to try them out on the pre-show. Jimmy Walker was a tough MMA fighter who was waiting to make his transition to professional wrestling and we were the first company to take a chance on him. Bobby Valentine was looking to get back into the game as well, so we brought him on as a manager and brought in another big man for him to speak for. The biggest challenge was figuring out what we were going to do with some of the guys who weren't seeing as much action, we were gonna' have to either figure out how to manage our show times a little better or we were gonna' have to make them longer. But without a TV-deal it was difficult to showcase our storylines and get people excited about the upcoming shows so often we left fans a little confused when they came back to the shows a month later. We were thinking about doing a show every two weeks to give guys the idea of what it was gonna' be like to have a TV-deal, because lets face it, that chance would be coming soon. But it wasn't in the budget yet and we were gonna' have to look at other options... Bobby added some star power to the company that wasn't necessarily in-ring star power, he was a mouthpiece. He was the guy that was promoting the show but while also being on the show, and that allowed me and Jerry to take a backseat and just focus on our job at the announce table when showtime came around. http://i.imgur.com/yK3N2pf.jpg I was itchin' to get back to doin' what I loved. Honest, it was all I wanted for so long and I wasn't down to go over to GAW and be one of those old boys that got all nostalgic about the good ol' days. Bobby Valentine II sits on a rocking chair on his porch, a little beat up but still looking happy as ever. His eyes lit up as he spoke about his glory days and his second wind, but as he was pushing seventy years old now, he was forced out of the ring and ultimately out of the business due to some injuries and medical issues that made it nearly impossible for him to show up and do his job any longer. Basically I just wanted to give back, because there's tons of talented guys out there now but they might not be the best at everything; you know, there's always some guy who looks the part, can wrestle, but just doesn't have that 'it' factor on the microphone and that's where guys like me come in. I developed a great friendship with Roman through working with him and again, in all honesty, partnering with him was what really got me going with my second wind and made me fall in love with this business again... Simon Walker was, unfortunately, also the first man to find himself incapacitated and effectively out of the match for the majority, after going over the top rope into a table that had been set up by the I.R.S. earlier on in the match. Robin Money also came close to getting the victory after putting his hands on the belts above the ring, but he would be pulled off of the ladder by Reggie Brown & ROC Fresh, who would throw him over the top rope and effectively out of the match as well. The Furlongs & The Black Market would set up two ladders in the middle of the ring and both teams would climb to the top and fight it out over the belts. Holden Money & Cole Walker would knock Reggie Brown & Hollywood Al off of the ladders with a couple well placed chair shots, but the two would also find themselves taken out after climbing the ladders. ROC & Furlong threw Walker & Money off of the second ladder leaving only the two of them to fight for the belts. Furlong starts to untie the championship belts and at the last moment, ROC Fresh shoves him off of the ladder. Adonis looks great as he takes on an extremely active Kai Philo, who is jumping around the ring with reckless abandon and at a very high speed. Adonis does manage to catch him and uses his superior mat wrestling to keep him pinned down and eventually works him over for a submission, finishing him off with a tight ankle lock to force the tap. Caleb Adonis points at the entrance way after his match, clearly in an attempt to taunt Mike Santorelli but nobody shows up. The epic rematch from New Destiny for the Hollywood Championship. Herculez looking much bigger than last time, it seems like this is a true match up of the giants. Big Bubba and Herculez trade rights and lefts to open the match, each loading as much power into each punch as humanly possible. Herculez is the first to buckle, falling back into the ropes and bouncing back into a big shoulder block from Big Bubba. The reigning champion does some damage but it's not enough to keep the challenger down, as Herculez hoists Bubba up in the air and throws him up like he was pizza dough, the champion landing flat on the mat, face first. Herculez tries for the pin but he's interrupted, and this seems to be the case for every subsequent attempt. The end of the match comes after Herculez locked the champion up in a full nelson and refused to let him break loose. Big Bubba tried to jump up in the air to wiggle free, but unfortunately that's a mistake you don't want to make against someone as physically strong as Herculez, who simply followed through and violently threw him to the mat with a full nelson slam. There weren't many guys our size on that roster so it meant that as a champion I was gonna' be on easy street for awhile. Herculez laughs and leans back ever so slightly before returning to his thoughts I mean really though, winning that belt was big because it meant that I was gonna' be kind of untouchable for the next few months. It's a lot different in a smaller company than it is with something like the WWWE or the AWF, you know, you hold belts longer here than in a company like that. I figured it's my time to be the golden boy and get all the glory. But you know, just when you start to feel comfortable is when the worst comes. I really thought I was gonna' be on easy street, all I had to do was get through my last match with Bubba and I'd be wrestlin' much smaller guys that I could toss around like nothin'. But nothin' you coulda' told me woulda' prepared me for what happened that night. http://i.imgur.com/yK3N2pf.jpg As a fan of this business, I live for swerves and surprises like the one that happened at Christmas Beatings. That was huge, that was one of the moments where I was legitimately just like... 'damn, that just happened'. I can proudly say that I was there that night, that I was there to witness it first hand. Bobby Valentine sits back in his chair and stares down into his hands for a couple seconds. He finally looks back up at the camera and grins. There's really no explaining it. When a company inks a deal with such a huge name, especially in the case of a promotion the size of HCG around that time, anyone who had at least some sort of fan base was a huge name for us. That's why when Travis Stine showed up he became such an important part of the roster. So when Christmas Beatings happened, we knew that it was going to be a massive end to the year for us, and the beginning of a new era for Lomax & King's partnership.
