In a short pre-show match, Mason Avalon defeated Jameson Spear. Both men came out of the match looking good, although Avalon's victory will provide him with much needed momentum.

Wilson Hancock
, formerly of the Awesome Wrestling Federation, and by far the biggest name to have ever joined WCCW took centre stage to open the show proper. It must have seemed a huge departure from his AWF, sell-out-arena days, but Hancock nevertheless addressed the 188 fans in attendance as if there were 1880 people stood around him.

Hancock said that he had come to Canada, come to WCCW, to show everyone that he was as good as he had said he was. That those who doubted him in Los Angeles were wrong and that not only could he take on the biggest and the baddest, but he could beat them as well. Tonight, in his first match in WCCW, he would prove just that by walking out the WCCW World Heavyweight champion! The crowd cheered in appreciation for the nearest thing they've had to a wrestling legend in the squared circle visit their small corner of the wrestling world as Hancock headed to the back to prepare for the main event.

TYRONE HARRIS w/Louis Vincent vs DWAINE KAI
A decent enough opening bout saw Dwaine Kai return to winning ways. Louis Vincent at ringside attempted to influence matters with his cane, but when he swung for Kai's head the Hawaiian ducked, and the vicious shot connected with Vincent's client Harris instead. The following three count was little more than a formality.

MATCH FINISH: Dwaine Kai via pinfall at 8:27 with a Surf Bomb.

joining in the attack, the 3-on-1 beating was swift but effective and by the time referee William Travers threw himself in the way of the punches to guard Kai the youngster was already busted wide open.

WCCW WORLD TAG TEAM TITLE MATCH
THE WILD THINGS (Sirus & Loveman) w/Ms Sirus vs THE GIBSON BROTHERS ©
Two more different teams you'd struggle to find in WCCW, but both have had their successes in the company nonetheless. The high-flying Wild Things started well, but the power of the Gibson Brothers was always going to be the difference maker. Ms Sirus did her best to distract the referee and her clients' opponents, but to no avail and when Mike Gibson locked Randy Loveman in the Bearhug this one was all over.

MATCH FINISH: The Gibson Brothers (Mike Gibson) via submission at 10:10 with a Bearhug.
TITLES: The Gibson Brothers retain in defence number eight.
RATING: D-

Notes: Ms Sirus did some good work at ringside, but Randy Loveman was really off his game.

WCCW WOMEN'S TITLE MATCH
TARA VICE vs NOVEMBER RAYNE ©
Tara Vice has been climbing the ranks since she first started in WCCW more than a year ago as a virtual rookie. So to make it to her second WCCW Women's title challenge shows remarkable progress. Unfortunately for Vice, not only is Rayne a more experienced grappler, but having only won the title last month she wasn't going to give it up easily here. A Rayne Drop after twelve minutes brought this match to a close.

MATCH FINISH: November Rayne via pinfall at 12:15 with a Rayne Drop.
TITLE: November Rayne retains in her first defence.
RATING: E

Notes: Tara Vice was visibly tiring, and the match went on far too long.

JD Powers
came to the ring with a microphone and the most arrogant look he could muster. Powers said that he was the beginning and end of professional wrestling in Canada and that there was nothing anyone could say – not Wilson Hancock, not the fans, and certainly not Rampage Redd – that would stop that from being true. In fact, Powers said, the only thing wrong with WCCW was that it didn't feature his name on the marquee every month!

Suddenly,
Rampage Redd
– the man who lost the WCCW World title when JD Powers attacked in June – rushed to the ring and began to beat the daylights out of Powers! Referee William Travers – who conveniently spends any non-match segments sat at ringside – jumped into the ring and signalled for the bell – the match wasn't scheduled, but it was most certainly on!

IMPROMPTU MATCH
RAMPAGE REDD vs JD POWERS
Rampage Redd definitely used his early attack to his advantage by taking control of the contest early on. A brief fightback from JD Powers was halted when the Drake Richards look-a-like spent too long showing off to the crowd. In the end Redd's ferocity and power was too much for Powers and a victory for the “Rampager” soon followed.

MATCH FINISH: Rampage Redd via pinfall in 12:46 with a Dominator Slam.
RATINGS: D promo, E+ match

Notes: During the promo spot JD Powers struggled when going off-script.

Chloe Bourel and Nina Plaziat, collectively known as the Queens of Quebec, stood confidently in the centre. The Queens said that twice already this evening people had come out and claimed that they were the best of the best and that WCCW wouldn't be the same without them. Twice this evening, those wrestlers had been wrong. This was a company run by men...but ruled by the women. The women's division was the strongest collection of wrestlers in Canada, never mind in WCCW, and both Bourel and Plaziat felt that it was time to give the men a lesson in humility by showing them how real athletes wrestle!

QUEENS OF QUEBEC vs LIZZIE BROOKS & JULIETTE SAINT JAMES
This match might have been preceeded by a tall claim by the Queens, but against Lizzie Brooks and Juliette Saint James they lived up to their word by providing the strongest match of the night so far. An excellent performance from all four wrestlers saw near falls aplenty. The fast pace kept up for most of the contest, and it wasn't until the end of the match when things began to slow down. When Chloe Bourel locked in the Canadian Cloverleaf, however, the contest came to a sudden close.

MATCH FINISH: Queens of Quebec (Chloe Bourel) via submission at 8:47 with a Canadian Cloverleaf.

STEEL CAGE WCCW WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT TITLE MATCH
WILSON HANCOCK vs CARBON ©
If the semi-main event was a good one, then the main event was great. The steel cage took some time to construct, but the wait for the imposing structure only helped to build the atmosphere even further. Unsurprisingly, Wilson Hancock was celebrated like a deity when he made his entrance – the first time he had been seen in wrestling attire in WCCW – while the variety of unsavoury chants aimed at Carbon continued aplenty as the champ entered the ring.

Once the bell rang this was a fight pure and simple, and neither man held back. Carbon's size and power were used to great effect, as was the steel cage's walls which became a weapon, particularly for the bigger masked man. Hancock almost climbed out of the cage early on before being dragged back down, and he nearly got a three count after hitting a superkick on the big man.

Carbon, however, wasn't likely to play fair and when the opportunity arose he dropped Hancock onto the ring ropes...and proceeded to handcuff the former AWF star to the ring ropes! Carbon continued the assault on the now-trapped Hancock, but ultimately chose to walk out of the cage door – to a deafening chorus of boos from the audience – and earn a victory that he far from deserved.

MATCH FINISH: Carbon via cage escape in 17:27 after handcuffing Hancock to the cage.
TITLE: Carbon retains in defence number two.
RATING: D+

Notes: Carbon got a lot of static from a vocal crowd, but Carbon and Wilson Hancock do have pretty good chemistry.

As the bell rang, the audience began to shower

in drinks, profanities and rubbish, with the monstrous masked man standing outside of the ring mocking

. Hancock, however, didn't see the funny side and began hurling insults at the champion...which only made things worse! Still handcuffed to the ring ropes, Hancock didn't stand a chance when Carbon re-entered the cage and began to attack...but wait...

Bryan Mitchell
, a former two-time Canadian Openweight champion, and an unmistakable presence in the wrestling world, appeared out of nowhere! Making his WCCW debut, Mitchell rushed into the ring and wiped out Carbon with a huge lariat. Using his brute strength to snap one end of the handcuffs free, Mitchell's rescue of Hancock was certainly a memorable introduction to the company as Carbon exited the ring in double time! As the show came to a close two newcomers stood tall to the ovation of the WCCW audience – Bryan Mitchell and Wilson Hancock were here to put an end to the anarchic rule of Carbon!

RATING: D-

Notes: Bryan Mitchell debuted his Giant gimmick, which has an initial B rating.

The Wild Things' Danny Sirus will have the opportunity to bounce back from his team's defeat last month with a match against Cutthroat Cullen. The veteran will be no easy opponent, however, and Sirus will need to work hard over the next four weeks to prepare.

ELIMINATION WCCW WORLD TAG TEAM TITLE MATCH
THE HARRIS BROTHERS vs DWAINE KAI & MASON AVALON vs THE GIBSON BROTHERS ©
It may be an elimination match, but that doesn't stop this three-way dance from being the most difficult way for The Gibson Brothers to defend their WCCW World Tag Team titles. In fact, should the Gibson Brothers be victims of the first fall then we would be guaranteed new champions. Dwaine Kai and Mason Avalon might be new partners, but both are coming off solid wins at Doomsday, while The Harris Brothers are a proven tag commodity with two prior reigns as WCCW Tag Team champions.

THE QUEENS OF QUEBEC & TARA VICE vs RAYNE, SAINT JAMES & BROOKS
The entire WCCW women's division will be in action for this six-diva tag team contest. The Queens of Quebec said that women rule the WCCW - this is another chance to prove that they were right. But who rules the women's division?

RAMPAGE REDD vs JD POWERS vs JAMESON SPEAR
What happens when you take two feuding wrestlers and throw in a third, hungry, young competitor? Chaos, and that's exactly what is in store for these three men. Redd scored a pinfall victory over JD Powers at Doomsday, but without a pre-match beatdown will the result be the same? And both men will have to keep an eye on Jameson Spear who is improving every month here in WCCW.

Doomsday's main event was a classic in everything but the finish. Carbon robbed the fans of their match and they have spoken. Vendetta's rematch will be a no holds barred, no disqualification contest between Carbon and Wilson Hancock. Oh, and newcomer Bryan Mitchell will be in Wilson Hancock's corner...just to make sure that everything goes by the book!

At least if I run out of potential main events I can always book the two fans at ringside

I hope everyone enjoyed the first show - the next one should be up in a couple of days. It is already written (and I'm part way through show 3), but I don't want to post them too quickly or I'll end up with a big wait between shows!

Oh, and while I remember - the intention is for the Roster post to always display the most up-to-date information (following a show that is), so rather than post a roster every six months or so, I'll simply be applying the changes as the months draw to a close.

Any comments or questions are, as always, most welcome. I won't be doing a prediction contest as such, although if there is enough interest (and I can think of a prize) I'm happy to change that in the future

Despite being scheduled for a six-person tag team match later on in the night, Chloe Bourel and Juliette Saint James also opened the pre-show, albeit with a rather disappointing contest. Disjointed and without any flow whatsoever, Bourel won the short contest with her trademark submission hold, giving her and her team a big psychological advantage heading into the main show.

Danny Sirus needed a return to winning ways having lost a tag team title shot last month, but this match started in much the same way his last ended. Cutthroat Cullen used his power to great effect, and while his moveset might not be particularly varied it was effective, at least initially. Once Sirus began to speed things up, however, the momentum changed and the smaller, more agile youngster began to take control. In the end a Cloudburst put paid to Cullen...just...and handed Sirus the victory.

MATCH FINISH: Danny Sirus via pinfall at 9:15 with a Cloudburst.

ELIMINATION WCCW WORLD TAG TEAM TITLE MATCH

This was not a classic wrestling bout by any stretch of the imagination, but it was an entertaining contest nonetheless. The three-corners nature of the match made things interesting early on as each team attempted to tag itself in to secure an early pinfall. Kai and Avalon made a surprisingly solid unit, although they clearly lacked the experience of the Gibsons and Harrises. However, this match took a surprising turn when the referee's back was turned. As Mike and Matt Gibson fought to get into the ring, Dwaine Kai took the surprisingly villainous option of cleaning the clock of Jerome Harris with a vicious chair shot. The three count that followed was no surprise, and even brought a smile from champions the Gibson Brothers. Mason Avalon, however, was not as happy with his partner's heelish tactics and entered the ring to complain...only to eat a Surf Bomb from his so-called partner! The audience were stunned, while Kai merely signalled for Mike Gibson to enter the ring and pin Avalon! The tag titles remained with The Gibson Brothers...but what was Dwaine Kai thinking!?

MATCH FINISH: The Gibson Brothers (Mike) via pinfall at 19:21 after Dwaine Kai turned on his partner.

following the bell, the three quickly began laughing and joking with each other, celebrating in the centre of the ring as if they had just won the NFA MegaBowl. Dwaine Kai raised the hands of the tag team champions, making no effort to explain his sudden and unexpected turn to the dark side.

Notes: Jerome Harris got a lot of static during the match, but plays off Louis Vincent well. Vincent did some good work at ringside. Dwaine Kai's heel turn was a complete success.

Wilson Hancock
might have failed to capture the WCCW World title in his first match with the company last month, but that hasn't affected his popularity with the fans in the slightest and the biggest ovation of the night so far erupted when Hancock and fellow newcomer
Bryan Mitchell
made their way to the ring.

Hancock reminded fans of his tall claims last month, and said that he stuck by them. What happened at Doomsday wasn't a case of being outwrestled, outperformed or even outwitted. It was a case of being robbed. Robbed of the opportunity to do what he does best, and that is wrestle. That was why tonight, Bryan Mitchell would be standing guard – making sure that this contest went down as it should have done last month.

Mitchell said that he was here in WCCW to make a name for himself in the “Playground of the Elites”, but to do that he needed to prove the type of man he is to the fans. Mitchell said that his presence at ringside was that of enforcer, not of kingmaker – he wouldn't interfere in the contest unless absolutely necessary. But if it did become necessary...he was ready to take no prisoners!

After a great women's tag team match at Doomsday, this contest disappointed, largely because it went on too long for the popularity of those involved. The in-ring action itself was decent, however, and all six of the WCCW women's division had a chance to show their abilities. The ending was, perhaps, a surprise to some as the team of Rayne, Saint James and Brooks, inspired by a rallying cry from WCCW Women's champion Rayne midway through the match, each hit their finishing moves on their opponents, resulting in three simultaneous pinfalls, all of which reached the three count to hand the babyfaces the victory.

MATCH FINISH: November Rayne via submission in 11:22 with a November Pain.
RATING: E+

Notes: The match went on far too long, and Juliette Saint James seemed off her game.

Another new face to Western Canada Championship Wrestling made his way to the ring following the match for a short promo spot. Introduced by the ring announcer as
“The One” Michael Curtis
, the newcomer got a reasonable reaction from the fans, no doubt thanks to his work on the Canadian indy scene. Curtis said that he was called “The One” for a reason – he was the here and now, here was the future and the end. He was professional wrestling embodied. If you had to pick one wrestler to take the industry forward, he would be “The One”. As a result, Curtis made an open challenge for next month's show Oblivion – any person in the locker room could go down in history as the first man to lose a match to WCCW's greatest ever superstar!

Rampage Redd and JD Powers immediately began to slug it out in the centre of the ring, long before Jameson Spear had even hit the ring. In a near continuation of their match at Doomsday, Powers and Redd went back-and-forth, only stopping occasionally to fend off Spear. Eventually, however, the youngster managed to get himself into the fight, sending JD Powers to the outside and focusing in on Redd. However, his successes didn't last long as Redd hit the Dominator Slam...only to get thrown out of the ring by JD Powers! Powers then hit the Top Rope Rushmore – a move stolen from his cousin Drake Richards - on the felled Spear, earning himself a return victory, even if technically it wasn't over Rampage Redd himself.

MATCH FINISH: JD Powers via pinfall at 10:34 with a Top Rope Rushmore.

In a night of solid matches, this contest surpassed all expectations to become not only the greatest in WCCW history, but perhaps the best match in Canada this year. Hancock and Carbon once again went for pain over precision, using the No Disqualification rules to brawl around the ring and using whatever means they could to gain an advantage. True to his word, Bryan Mitchell stayed at ringside but didn't interfere in proceedings, allowing Hancock and Carbon to take and lose control naturally as the match progressed. However, when Carbon began to struggle under the weight of Hancock's crowd support, something unexpected appeared through the curtain...

...another Carbon...and another! The addition of two masked men at ringside immediately grabbed the attention of Mitchell at ringside, and Hancock who left the ring to stop the invaders. However, the real Carbon grabbed Hancock by the hair and dragged him back into the ring, leaving Mitchell alone at ringside to fend off the two attackers. Fortunately, after initially struggling, Mitchell delivered a real beating to the two masked imposters, sending one crashing into the barricade and wrapping a chair around another's head.

Back in the ring, Carbon had used the distraction to take control of the match, but when the champion lifted Hancock for the Carbon Copy, the challenger slipped out of the back...and locked in his trademark submission, This One's For The Ladies! Carbon held on longer than anyone expected to, but as Mitchell kept watch over the two fake Carbons at ringside, the champion eventually had no choice but to tap out. New champion! New champion! New champion!

MATCH FINISH: Wilson Hancock via submission at 23:37 with a This One's For The Ladies.

As the crowd celebrated the victory, Hancock grabbed a microphone and challenged Carbon to a match next month...but not a title match, oh no, he'd have to earn that. If Carbon needed a little help to win matches, then he'd welcome a tag team match – Bryan Mitchell and Wilson Hancock vs Carbon and a partner of his own choice!

RATING: C match, D+ angle.

Notes: Carbon got a lot of static during the match from a vocal crowd, but Hancock and Carbon have pretty good chemistry.
