My main reason for saying this is that I like my title histories to be have accurate counts and I find that when title reigns are combined it seems that a lot of the older title holders don't get recognized as having more than one reign because they aren't in the database.

I think one thing to keep in mind and seems to get lost on historical mods is the WWF product type. They were one of the most conservative promotions going in terms of their booking. They booked one, maybe two major angles a year and the TV was pretty basic as was the formula they used feeding heels to Sammartino and Backlund. They weren't the Sports Entertainment they became in 85 really (1984 was the transition period but the real Sports Entertainment phase started around 1986 when Superstars took over for Championship Wrestling). Even the first Wrestlemania wasn't a great card by anyone's standards. They definitely prided popularity over workrate though but it wasn't like they had a ton of angles and storylines going.

I would love this. 1980-1981 Georgia is what I grew up watching. I wasn't born until 1996, but my dad had all of the footage on VHS from tape trading over the years. I've watched all the GCW I can. I had an 83 mod that I stopped because it just isn't the same as what it would have been 2 years before. Would love to play this along with promotions like Detroit and Indianapolis.

The place went insane, I still remember some older lady in front of us screaming Tommeeeeeeeeeeeee over and over at the top of her lungs. When they brought the lights up she was full on crying.

He was definitely the most over in Georgia back then, with DeBiase probably second among face, but Wrestling II was up there as well.

In terms of the heels, the Freebirds got the most heat and Ole Anderson was up there too. Always good times at Augusta Bell on Monday nights, the crowds there took it very seriously.

That title change has always intrigued me because how everything went down. Tommy Rich not appearing with the title on TBS. Freebirds were on fire in the early 80's. You wouldn't know who the booker to start 1980 was would you? I know Robert Fuller had the book at the end of 1980 because Ted Dibiase has said Robert was average booker and when he came in Fuller was the booker.

I do know he left briefly and wrestled in Alabama, which coincides with when Fuller comes in. Ole then began to book JCP in 1981 and resumed the booking duties for both for a time, before settling in fulltime in Georgia in 1982.

They just TOOK OVER. Although, I never understood doing the JYD blinding angle, not only again and so close to the first time, but also showing clips of the original angle on Georgia Championship Wrestling. Kind of convenient it happened again lol

The Hayes one is good you should just probably keep it smaller. I think the size is 150x150 so keeping it small should reduce the pixelization.

It's now 150 x 150. I agree the Gordy pics are rough. They probably won't make it in the picture folder. Just reminder Buddy Roberts will start off in Southwest wrestling as Dale Valentine. A lot of great feuds started in 1980 and whole lot of great matches took place during this period of time. It wasn't until April that Buddy joined Mid-South and became the third Freebird. Interseting thing saw a GCW clip from 1981 and Michael says it's the one year anniversary of Buddy joining them,

From what I gathered, their servers went up in smoke, literally! They should be back up, though there's no timetable right now from what I can see.

Thanks, it sucks that it happened because Cagematch and other sites don't have everything that Wrestlingdata had.

Well just added a new promotion to database it won't open until March of 1981, but it is very interesting promotion or should I say the owner is Antone Leone. It seems he hates the NWA with a passion and I do mean a intense passion. He claims to have been blackballed in the 1950's and 1960's. It seems he became rich in the pizza industry.
