New Ownership In Pro Wrestling Guerrilla?

Reseda, California - July 1, 2015 - There are rumors making the rounds that an interested party has contacted Pro Wrestling Guerrilla ownership about possibly buying the company. At this time, there are no details on who this person may be or what their interest in the company is. Speculation at this time is that it's a newly minted multi-millionaire who is a life long wrestling fan and wants to try his hand at owning a wrestling company.

Pro Wrestling Guerrilla (PWG) is an American professional wrestling promotion that is run by wrestlers themselves as it was created by Southern California wrestlers Disco Machine, Excalibur, Joey Ryan, Scott Lost, Super Dragon, and Top Gun Talwar.

At this time there is no information on whether or not the current owners of the promotion are interested in selling. Stay tuned for more details!

New Ownership In Pro Wrestling Guerrilla Update!

Reseda, California - July 1, 2015 - We first broke a story earlier today that there was a possible purchase of Pro Wrestling Guerrilla in the works. We are now here to say that it has been confirmed by anonymous sources that there is indeed a purchase in the works.

The anonymous source said that the potential new owner is Jeremy Weimer. Not much is known about him at this time other than he is the recent winner of the record breaking Powerball jackpot. Jeremy won a sum of $608 million a month ago. He took the cash option which netted him approximately $255 million.

We are attempting to contact Jeremy directly to see if we can gather anymore information on a potential purchase of PWG. Stay tuned for details!

Just a little forewarning for you guys. Before I continue with the diary. I'm not experienced enough with PWG to know all the little inside jokes and nuances of the promotion, at least yet. I've seen several of their shows and love it. But I'm no expert on PWG. So my diary is going to be a little different and my version of PWG. So please don't hold it against me. :)

New Ownership In Pro Wrestling Guerrilla Confirmed! Inside Scoop!

Reseda, California - July 3, 2015 - After mounting speculation over the last couple of days, we finally received a response from Pro Wrestling Guerrilla ("PWG") owner Joseph "Joey" Ryan Meehan. He has confirmed for us that PWG has indeed been sold to newly minted millionaire Jeremy Weimer. When asked for a comment as to why they decided to sell the company after all these years, Mr. Meehan simply said, "We felt it was time. Jeremy offered us a lot of money and assured us that he had a vision for the company and wished to continue the PWG traditions. He didn't plan on trying to turn it into the next WWE or get rid of the core of what makes PWG so great. So we decided to give him a shot and see what he can do with his considerable resources."

After receiving word from Mr. Meehan that PWG had indeed been sold to Jeremy Weimer, we reached out to Jeremy in hopes of getting some more information on the sale. Below is the exclusive interview we had with Jeremy earlier today about the purchase of PWG and what his plans are for the promotion going forward.

Interviewer: Jeremy, this has been a wild few days. Two days ago we heard what most believed were just wild and wholly untrue rumors that someone was attempting to buy PWG. How did this deal happen so quickly?

Jeremy Weimer: Well, we actually had been working on a deal for a few weeks now. Shortly after I won the Powerball I sat down with my team of lawyers, accountants, and financial adviser and hashed out what I needed to do with my winnings. I took care of all the essentials and realized I had a lot of left over money to do whatever I wanted with. I've been a life long wrestling fan, growing up watching WWF and WCW. So I figured, why not see if I can do something in the wrestling business.

Interviewer: So you planned on buying PWG as soon as you found out you won the Powerball?

Jeremy Weimer: No, absolutely not. Once I realized I had a considerable amount of money to do whatever I pleased with, I then realized I would like to use some of it to get involved in the wrestling business somehow. My original intention was to purchase some WWE stock or maybe look into starting a small independent organization in my home state of Minnesota. Buying an existing promotion didn't even enter into my mind originally.

Interviewer: You say you wanted to buy WWE stock or start a small independent promotion in Minnesota, so then how did we end up here with you buying PWG instead of one of those two options?

Jeremy Weimer: It's actually quite simple really. When looking into the WWE stock route I realized quickly with how massive of an organization it truly is, even with my new found wealth I would barely own any of the company. I wanted a chance to help mold something. To have a voice in whatever I did. So it was pretty obvious that buying WWE stock wasn't the best option. As far as starting my own promotion goes, after talking to my lawyers and state regulators it became clear to me that it wasn't a great option either. It simply would take too long to get all the red tape sorted out and find talent to book for the shows and a crew to put on the shows. That's when I turned my eye to getting involved with an existing promotion outside of WWE.

Interviewer: Tell us more about that. What led you to PWG specifically?

Jeremy Weimer: It's quite simple really. It's no secret that wrestling has been in what many consider a boom period lately, at least outside of WWE. We have all kinds of great things going on with New Japan, Ring of Honor, Lucha Underground, and a plethora of others. One of the indy darlings over the last several years has definitely been PWG. So when I turned my attention to getting involved with an existing promotion, I immediately thought of someone like PWG.

Interviewer: So when you say involved, do you mean purchase or some other kind of involvement?

Jeremy Weimer: Honestly, initially I just wanted to see if I could be some kind of financial backer or help out with anything. I reached out to Joey and Excalibur to see if they had any interest in receiving some financial support from me. If there was a way I could help them grow PWG to reach a wider audience. I love PWG and have no desire to tarnish the product but I think there is a lot of people out there who would also love it, but simply don't know about it. So I wanted to see what I could do to help those people learn about PWG.

Interviewer: How did you ultimately end up buying PWG then instead of becoming a financial backer?

Jeremy Weimer: You know, that's honestly a good question. When I contacted the PWG ownership they basically told me they weren't interested in my financial support. They had a good thing going. They weren't interested in disrupting that and they understood what they were and where they stood. I respected that. So I didn't push and told them thank you for their time and the offer was still open if they changed their minds down the road.

Interviewer: So they initially balked at you helping or purchasing the company?

Jeremy Weimer: Yeah, in our initial conversation I didn't even bring up the idea of purchasing PWG from them. The thought never even crossed my mind. But then, a few days alter Joey called me up and told me that they discussed it among themselves after I left and decided they didn't want my financial support but they would possibly be interested in selling to me if I was interested. I was a little caught off guard because as I said, I didn't originally even entertain the idea of buying PWG.

Interviewer: What led to you deciding to buy PWG?

Jeremy Weimer: Like I said, I've been a life long wrestling fan. I've come to appreciate independent wrestling more and more over the last few years. Guys like Kevin Steen, The Young Bucks, AJ Styles, Michael Elgin, Roderick Strong, have really put it on the map in a big way. So after thinking it over for a day or two I realized you know what? I think I'd actually like to give owning PWG a shot. Their asking price wasn't exorbitant and I've loved the PWG product for a few years now. So why not?

Interviewer: When you say the asking price wasn't exorbitant, what kind of figure are we talking?

Jeremy Weimer: Well, let's just say it was in the low seven figures and leave it at that.

Interviewer: Do you plan on throwing all of your available financial resources at PWG? Do you have a financial vision in mind for the company?

Jeremy Weimer: A financial vision? Yes. I'm obviously not going to buy PWG to lose money hand over fist. Do I plan on trying to compete with the likes of WWE and TNA? Absolutely not. As Joey said, PWG knows what it is. I want to honor that. Will I try to grow the brand and make it available to more people? Absolutely. As far as throwing all of my financial resources at it goes, no, I don't plan on doing that. PWG will be one of many business ventures I'm involved in.

Interviewer: Are you concerned then that PWG will become more of a distraction and will suffer because you can't devote all of your time to it?

Jeremy Weimer: No, I will have a team in place that will help me run PWG. Joey Ryan and Super Dragon will be staying on with us to handle the day to day operations at this point. Why ruin a good thing?

Interviewer: So you are planning on taking more of a hands off approach?

Jeremy Weimer: Not necessarily a hands off approach. Just more of a watching in the background and getting involved when I need to. I will still be a part of all the business side of things and involved in the decisions of who we bring in and who we don't retain. I just won't be involved in the day to day booking all the time.

Interviewer: Well, I think we are nearing the end of our time together. I thank you for your time in sitting down with us and giving us the inside scoop. Is there anything else you'd like to say or share with us before we wrap it up?

Jeremy Weimer: Just that I want to assure the fans of PWG that I do care what you have to say. Feel free to reach out to me through the proper channels and I will take your criticism and opinions to heart. I want PWG to be the best promotion it can be and I hope the fans enjoy what we have planned.

Interviewer: Alright, that should do it folks. Thank you Jeremy for sitting down with us. It sounds like PWG has an interesting and bright future ahead of it!

All four duked it out in the middle of the ring exchanging signature moves and pumping up the crowd. Rich Swann hit the backflip kick on Joey Ryan sending him to the ground. He then turned around and hit the Chicken Fried Driver on Candice LeRae. Matt Sydal was still the legal man so he climbed to the top rope and hit the Shooting Sydal Press for the victory.</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Winner of the match:</strong> Matt Sydal & Rich Swann via Shooting Sydal Press to Candice LeRae</p><p> <strong>Rating:</strong> 40</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Triple Threat Match</strong></p><p> <span>http://i.imgur.com/gXCBI2C.jpg</span><span>http://i.imgur.com/TsnCKUw.jpg</span><span>http://i.imgur.com/0cjZFAJ.jpg</span></p><p> <strong>Tommaso Ciampa vs. Rocky Romero vs. Tommy End</strong></p><p> </p><p> "Ciampa's gonna kill you!" seemed to be the perfect chant for this match. It was a hard hitting slug fest between all three guys from the get go. Tommy End started mounting momentum when he hit an exploder suplex on Rocky Romero and then a brainbuster on Ciampa. He then went for his finisher, the Owari Death Footstomp, on Ciampa only to see Ciampa kick out. Ciampa then quickly got up and unleashed a flurry of offense on Tommy End. This resulted in Tommy End knocked out hanging on the edge of the ring apron and Rocky Romero getting back to his feet.</p><p> </p><p> Ciampa grabbed Romero to go for the Project Ciampa but Romero wiggled out of it when Ciampa had him up in the air and rolled Ciampa into an ankle lock. The crowd started going nuts and Ciampa started screaming from the pain trying to get out of the hold that he was completely caught off guard by. Romero pulled Ciampa into the middle of the ring and re-applied the ankle lock. With Tommy End still down on the ring apron and no other way to get out of the hold, Ciampa had to tap out. </p><p> </p><p> <strong>Winner of the match:</strong> Rocky Romero via ankle lock to Tommaso Ciampa</p><p> <strong>Rating:</strong> 44</p></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="39962" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><div style="text-align:center;"><span>http://i.imgur.com/SZz2eq3.jpg</span><span>http://i.imgur.com/9MZ7Db6.jpg</span><span>http://i.imgur.com/9MZ7Db6.jpg</span><p> </p><p> Chris Hero makes his way out to the ring from the back and grabs the microphone from Angelo Trinidad. The crowd starts changing for Hero while he paces around the ring.</p><p> </p><p> "Alright, let me get right to the chase. I have a match tonight in the main event against Roderick Strong, Kyle O'Reilly, and a mystery partner. I wasn't told about this until the last minute and had no clue what to do. So I got on the phone and called up a few guys to see if they'd be interested in helping me kick Roderick Strong's ass. The crowd goes nuts.</p><p> </p><p> "F*ck you Roddy!" chants erupt from the crowd. </p><p> </p><p> So I was finally able to find two guys that also don't like Roderick Strong and get them to agree to join me here in Massachusetts tonight to kick his ass. We have nothing against Kyle O'Reilly or whoever their mystery partner is, but they're going to get their asses kicked too. </p><p> </p><p> So without further adieu, here are my teammates for tonight!</p><p> </p><p> <span>http://i.imgur.com/M8CTXAc.jpg</span></p><p> </p><p> Kazarian walks out to the ring from the back to a mixed reaction. Some of the fans are definitely happy he's back in PWG to help kick Roderick Strong's ass but a lot of fans also don't like Kazarian so they are booing. Kazarian joins Chris Hero in the ring and gives him a high five. They both turn to the entrance and wait for their other teammate to come out to the ring.</p><p> </p><p> <span>http://i.imgur.com/p30jST5.jpg</span></p><p> </p><p> The crowd goes absolutely insane when none other than Jay Lethal walks out. Lethal hasn't been seen in PWG in quite some time and is now the ROH World and TV Champions. </p><p> </p><p> "Holy shit! Holy shit! Holy shit!" chants from the crowd.</p><p> </p><p> All three men stand in the ring and pose for the crowd a little bit before returning to the back.</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Rating:</strong> 52</p><p> </p></div><p></p><p></p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> </p><div style="text-align:center;"><p><strong>Four Way Match of Doom</strong></p><p> <span>http://i.imgur.com/OGuQVjh.jpg</span><span>http://i.imgur.com/jik66vl.jpg</span><span>http://i.imgur.com/me73OYx.jpg</span><span>http://i.imgur.com/qt9M5bA.jpg</span></p><p> <strong>Bobby Fish vs. Trevor Lee vs. ACH vs. Drew Gulak</strong></p><p> </p><p> This match was a good mixture of high flying fast paced and technical action. It was an even fight throughout with all four men gaining momentum at one point or another. Trevor Lee and ACH ended up teaming up against Drew Gulak and Bobby Fish midway through the match to clear the ring of both Gulak & Fish. ACH and Trevor Lee then turned against each other and started battling back and forth. ACH threw Trevor Lee to the outside where both Gulak & Bobby Fish still were. He then took off running and did an over the top rope 360 splash on all three competitors.</p><p> </p><p> The crowd started getting behind ACH. He then returned to the ring and attempted another dive to the outside but Bobby Fish hit him with a kick to the head stunning him. Fish quickly entered the ring and hit ACH with the Sleeps With The Fishes for the victory.</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Winner of the match:</strong> Bobby Fish via Sleeps With The Fishes to ACH</p><p> <strong>Rating:</strong>47 </p></div><p></p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><div style="text-align:center;"><p><strong>Singles Match</strong></p><p> <span>http://i.imgur.com/fXk0nud.jpg</span><span>http://i.imgur.com/J4JvF69.jpg</span></p><p> <strong>Johnny Gargano vs. Biff Busick</strong></p><p> </p><p> Johnny Gargango after being attacked out of no where earlier in the show by Busick didn't even wait for the official bell. He went right after Busick and hit him with several forearms followed by kicks to the head. Gargano looked to end the contest quickly by hitting a brainbuster followed by a splash from the top rope. Busick kicked out and looked a little shocked.</p><p> </p><p> Gargano didn't give Busick much of a chance to recover though. He stayed on him with strikes from his hands and legs. Busick however then regained some momentum by unleashing his own set of strikes on Johnny Gargano. The bout ended when Biff Busick put Johnny Gargano up in the air for a hanging suplex and Gargano reversed it and put Busick in the Crosston Crab. Busick was unable to escape and had to tap out.</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Winner of the match:</strong> Johnny Gargano via Crosston Crab on Biff Busick</p><p> <strong>Rating:</strong> 49</p></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="39962" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><div style="text-align:center;"><span>http://i.imgur.com/fXk0nud.jpg</span><span>http://i.imgur.com/J4JvF69.jpg</span><p> </p><p> After the match Johnny Gargano was celebrating and reveling in the cheers of the PWG crowd. Busick quickly got up from nursing his injuries and once again attacked Johnny Gargano from behind. He hit a few stomps to Gargano's chest after knocking him to the ground. But he quickly stopped the attack and got out of the ring and headed to the back. Kyle O'Reilly comes out first and waits in his corner for his teammates. Roderick Strong then comes out and grabs a microphone much to the chagrin of the crowd.</p><p> </p><p> "F*ck you Roddy!" chants start once again. Followed by Roderick Strong flipping off the crowd and telling them to shut up. "So I guess it's time for me to introduce our other teammate. Since you had to bring that douche bag Jay Lethal to help you out, I figured it would be only fitting to bring an old friend of his."</p><p> </p><p> <strong>REACH FOR THE SKY BOY!</strong></p><p> </p><p> <span>http://i.imgur.com/Gpcb1Zr.jpg</span></p><p> </p><p> Jay Briscoe walks out from the back as the crowd loses its shit and starts chanting "P-dub-G!" and "Man Up!" while Briscoe enters the ring. Lethal looks obviously pissed off that Jay Briscoe is there as well as Roderick Strong. Briscoe gets up in the face of Jay Lethal and the two start pushing each other while Rick Knox looks on and stays out of the way. </p><p> </p><p> Eventually the two teams return to their corners. Chris Hero and Kyle O'Reilly start things off in the ring. Kyle O'Reilly shows why he was the PWG champion and unleashes hell on Chris Hero for the first few minutes of the match. Hero then tags in Kazarian who matches up a little better with O'Reilly. Both men exchange blows and hit some high risk maneuvers while their teams look on. O'Reilly hits a cradle DDT on Kazarian and goes for the pin. Lethal gets in the ring to break up the pin and Roderick Strong and Jay Lethal also get in the ring to go after Jay Lethal. </p><p> </p><p> All hell breaks loose when Chris Hero also enters the ring. All six men start attacking each other. Briscoe throws Chris Hero out of the ring. He then throws Kazarian out of the ring. He then follows them out of the ring and starts brawling with both in the crowd. Grabbing chairs and throwing them at Kazarian and Hero knocking them down.</p><p> </p><p> O'Reilly and Roderick Strong take turns beating down on Jay Lethal. They then exchange high fives much to the surprise of the crowd as Roderick Strong and O'Reilly have a tumultuous history together. O'Reilly then walks away and starts celebrating while Roderick Strong keeps beating down on Jay Lethal. The crowd starts booing and chanting "F*ck you Roddy!" and "**** you O'Reilly!" chants. </p><p> </p><p> Kyle O'Reilly then turns back towards Roderick Strong and taps him on the shoulder. Roderick turns around and is met with a super kick to the face. He stumbles backwards right into Jay Lethal who hits him with the Lethal Combination. Kyle O'Reilly looks on and smiles as Jay Lethal goes for the pin. The crowd is going insane with "Holy shit!" chants while Rick Knox counts the 1-2-3.</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Winner of the match:</strong> Chris Hero/Kazarian/Jay Lethal via Lethal Combination to Roderick Strong</p><p> <strong>Rating:</strong> 69</p><p> </p></div><p></p><p></p>
