RIP Chyna

I just learned the news and am personally shocked. I was always holding out hope for a Chyna comeback. I was a huge fan of hers back in the day. I wanted to see her get her life back together if not being recognized by the WWE and treated with the respect she always deserved.

I had the opportunity to see her at the last Con I went to in Long Island about a year ago. I was low on cash and always uncomfortable chatting up celebrities at a Con if I'm not gonna buy something off of them so I never actually got to meet her. Now I really wish I had. Rest in Peace.

It's a shame, because I was really hoping for another Jake Roberts/Scott Hall, pulled back from the brink-style comeback for her. I hate that I wasn't shocked when I read the news, but it still was sad to hear. She broke down doors when it came to how women could be portrayed in a mainstream American promotion, and she was part of quite a few important moments of the Attitude Era given her place in both DX and the Corporation. Given present trends, she'll probably remain the only female Intercontinental Champion. She was booked as a legit champion and not a joke, especially during her first title reign, and she deserves at least partial credit for that legitimacy.

It's a shame this is the way her story ended. I really hoped for the redemption story, but sadly, life isn't booked.

i cry everitiem ;-;

Speaking seriously now,I hope she rests in peace.I recall watching RR '99 live and going "WTH" when she appeared, and even more "WTH" when she won the ICC.

I hope that now the 'E at least recognizes her, but,it's Vinnie,so....

Both HHH and Steph have sent out tweets praising her contributions after the news broke.

She's been a controversial figure but hopefully her good moments will be remembered better.

Triple H, WWE and Stephanie have all paid tribute. Must be difficult for Triple H, despite how things went he still cared for her at one point and feelings never totally disappear.

RIP Chyna. I hope you find peace.

I received the news via a meme on Facebook about her time with Eddie, and I just couldn't believe it. I tried to shake it off as it it was some joke, but as it turns out, she really is dead...and I'm even more shocked. :(

She deserves to be recognized for the good that she did for this business, empowering the women and setting up a new high for them, raising the bar, if you may, not for whatever happened later in her life, where she was already broken emotionally, and maybe physically as well. But it was her life, of course, let's not judge her at all...I hope the WWE can finally find the strength to give her a fitting tribute, because it's what someone who did so much for the business like her needs to receive. May she rest in peace.

Another figure from my child hood gone... It's sad to watch and I like others were really pulling for her to be walking a straight line. I'm sad to see her go as she paved the way for the Natties, Beth Phoneix and Charoletts. I think HHH and Steph need to leave their egos at the door and finally give her that Hall of Fame spot next year.

I saw their tweets. I don't know what's been in their heads for the past 15 years. They might feel personally guilty for sending her down this spiral that took her life. I don't know. But I found their tweets highly hypocritical given that they've publicly ignored her for nearly two decades. To practically ignore that she was ever part of DX. To now show her respect... I mean where the hell were you all these years?

No one is responsible for Chyna's actions but Chyna, but this could have been helped.

Egos? The woman was in hardcore pornography. I don't want to bash a troubled, dead woman - but her choices makes it understandably difficult for a PG, family-oriented business like WWE to feature her that prominently.

...and the fact that she recently accused Triple H of hitting her probably doesn't help her chances. Just saying.

At any rate, it's always a shame to see the wrestling business leaving their stars to die young like this. A huge shame.

You never heard the way Chyna got fired? HHH and Steph dated behind Chyna's back for a year. Then when Chyna found out and went to Vince then Vince called a meeting into his office and Steph berated her 20 - 30 minutes before Vince let her go.

WWE went out of it's way to blacklist Chyna on any TV appearances to the point that she couldn't use her wrestling name. Chyna had to go as far as legally changing her name so WWE couldn't strong arm her. HHH even said on Steve Austin's podcast that he is not going to induct her over a google search?

But think about this...they didn't pull Sunny for "selling" her hall of fame ring and doing porn so why not induct Chyna for the same thing? The hypocrisy that has came out of their mouth is almost appalling at this point. I'm not condoning Chyna's actions one bit but how many options did a woman her age and qualifications have when it came to career moves?

Triple H discussed her in a Steve Austin pod cast recently. He's also posted another tweet since the first one.

I don't know how legit it was but in the interview with Austin. He said her contributions warranted a place in the HOF but they didn't want kids searching for her on google and finding her then current career.

She's going in the HOF. It wasn't porn stopping her, it was that the company couldn't trust her to do a speech. Thats not a problem anymore. Its grim but I think thats whats happening. WWE, Triple H and Stephanie handled it so far really well.

I think she'll make her way into the WWE Hall, sooner rather than later. Even though she was actually rarely in the women's division, she was a woman who cut a legitimate figure as a wrestler at a very low ebb for women's wrestling in the mainstream. Her being able to mix it up with the guys made it possible for Lita to be involved against men without it being seen as weakening the men or being abusive towards Lita, as well as providing ground that helped make Jacqueline a legit Cruiserweight Champion. Honestly, Chyna didn't do much for the women's division, since she was barely ever in it, but with the rise of a stronger women's division that is seemingly based more on what you can do in-ring and not just how you look (you still have to look good, but it's not the sole criterion any more), it would seem a logical time for her to be inducted.

And despite all of that, I wouldn't have inducted her in the state she was in at the time of her death. She was a mess. She seemed like she was making attempts not to be, but she still had a long way to go. I have great sympathy for people who are struggling with AODA issues, but that doesn't mean someone who is in that position is someone you want to associate with your company. Had she been able to beat her demons back down, like Jake Roberts or Scott Hall seem to have done, and at least made some amends in terms of prior statements she made, she would have eventually gotten in.

And, though I have no personal judgment regarding her career in adult films, I get that there is an image WWE wants to project, and the adult industry is not it. She'd have to stay out of that industry for a good long while, were she alive. Of course, given the pushes the WWF gave for her to appear in Playboy, along with a few other female personnel during the Attitude Era, it's not like if she didn't do pornographic films there wouldn't still be images you'd rather not have kids see if they Google'd her. And that was done with the encouragement of the WWF at the time, who also had a dude with a porn star gimmick at the same time. So, you know, a little bit of hypocrisy if the porn barred her forever.

I figure, if you can have a convicted rapist in Mike Tyson in the Hall, an admitted former drug dealer and gang member like Snoop Dogg, a spousal abuser in Steve Austin, and the Confederate flag-wearing Fabulous Freebirds, all of which can easily be Googled, I think her porn career would have, in time, been far enough in the past that she would have made it in.

Some people, through a combination of history, brain structure, and bad choices find themselves on a road of self-destruction. Some people are able to stop the plummet, and others can't. She couldn't. In the end, I think she didn't seem like a very happy person, and hadn't been for a very long time. Maybe didn't know how to be happy and so she numbed herself in an attempt not to at least feel so bad. It's a shame she couldn't find her way off that road.

If Chyna gets into the HOF Benoit needs to get into the HOF. One had himself and his family murdered by someone. The other did porn.

Both deserve HOF based on careers

Benoit murdered his family and then committed suicide. He's never going in the Hall of Fame. Comparing Chyna to him might be the most ridiculous thing I've ever read.

I'm one of the biggest Benoit marks on this planet and I know that's never going to happen. Does he have a Hall of Fame worthy career? The answer is yes! But that does not dissuade the fact that his last weekend being alive buried that career in too many peoples eyes. I'm one of the rare people that can look past the act he has committed and still enjoy his work. But I know that man will never be put into there unless it's a "Legacy" wing about 30 years into the future. The horrible act will be in everyone's minds for a long time.

As far as the comparison with Chyna.....I can't believe you would actually make that comparison. (Warning poor joke coming way too soon colored in white)I mean seeing Chyna's saggy middle aged body on screen taking a few is enough to force some suicides.

But to actually compare porn to murder is images?q=tbn:ANd9GcTEDh2Jnl2USOtiD57kN0NikWqrN7yoad74W5KZ3yf14O7-RVIP.

Especially writing it on a thread dedicated to her passing. Never was a fan of Chyna, not in the slightest, but that doesn't sugar coat her passing in any kind of way. May she now rest in peace, whether a fan or not, there's no denying how big of a part of DX's rise was and the Attitude Era in general. I've frankly become disgusted with WWE NOW reaching out now that she's dead. Now they decide to write her back in the history books. The hypocrisy and irony of WWE's recent actions is undeniable and is extremely pathetic. And on the subject of Benoit, that comparison might just be the dumbest thing I've ever read. Out of a sign of respect now, any topic related to Benoit should really be disregarded and people should stick to the topic of Chyna's passing, and not bring up such things.
