Shaping The Future

Recently more and more former and current EVOLVE Wrestlers have shown up on the WWE NXT and WWE shows. It can now truly be said that EVOLVE is shaping the future of the professional wrestling industry. Paul Heyman luckily has gotten permission to take over control of the EVOLVE creative direction and help shape the future even more so than before. With the financial backing of the WWE and WWN how will EVOLVE fair in the ever growing and changing world of wrestling.

One of the best things about EVOLVE Wrestling is how it continues to innovate at each of it's shows putting on some of the best indy shows there are. Soon they will look to burst forward and become a Super Indy, similar to that of Ring of Honor. Will they be able to truly make that push, or will they fall just like Heyman's other project ECW? In a bout that had great wrestling and good heat, Ricochet drew with Zack Sabre Jr. in 30:00 when the time limit expired.

Match Rating: 69 (C+)

After the match Sabre Jr. and Ricochet are both kneeling in the center of the ring they reach out and shake hands when an all to familiar music hits the arena. The crowd goes crazy as Chris Hero walks out from behind the curtain. The crowd goes nuts even more as JT Dunn and Pete Dunne walk out next to him. He makes his way to the ring and all three men climb in. Hero grabs mic and compliments the two men on their match.

He said that new ownership had gotten permission from NXT and the WWE for him to come back to the company. EVOLVE was the only company he could sign for with his deal. So he wanted to let them know that since they tied they would be in the Fatal Four Way match next month for the EVOLVE World title. He said obviously he is the fourth man. He smiles before dropping the mic and hitting a big elbow smash on Sabre Jr. Dunne and Dunn jump on Ricochet and hold him down as Hero beats Sabre Jr until he is limp. Finally Hero nods and they run from the ring as the crowd boos.

At EVOLVE 76 Zack Sabre Jr and Ricochet went to a time limit draw in a number one contenders match. Chris Hero and friends Pete Dunne and JT Dunn made their way to the ring to inform Sabre Jr. and Ricochet that they would be in a Fatal Four Way Match this month that included Hero and the EVOLVE Champion Thatcher. Unfortunately last minute Ricochet backed out of his booking with EVOLVE to go on tour with Dragon Gate in Japan. So now we will see Timothy Thatcher defend his title against Zack Sabre Jr. and Chris Hero. Can Thatcher, coming back from a major concussion, defend his title against to capable challengers or will a Hero or Technician become champion?

EVOLVE World Tag Team Championship Match

Last month saw the debut of Pete Dunne and JT Dunn in EVOLVE Wrestling. In their debut match they won the EVOLVE World Tag Team Championships with hard hitting elbows. They were able to overwhelm former champions Fred Yehi and Tracy Williams. Yehi demanded another partner in his rematch at the Tag Titles and that was granted by EVOLVE Management. Now Dunn and Dunne will defend their titles against Yehi and a partner of his choosing tonight. Who will Yehi bring to the ring with him for this shot at the gold? Will it be someone currently on the roster or is it a friend from outside of the company?

<div style="text-align:center;">The show opens and "Prelude 12/21" by AFI hits the arena and three men walk out in all black with black masks with White "A"'s in the center of the forehead on. The crowd is confused at first as the men climb into the ring and the larger of the three reaches for a microphone and gets one. He takes off his mask and tucks it in his black tights revealing Chris Hero and the crowd boos as Pete Dunne and JT Dunn do the same thing. Hero cuts a promo about how the crowd is lucky to see them standing here. They could be off making more money doing bigger better shows but they decided to come to EVOLVE to teach them a lesson. Hero tells the crowd to show some respect for the EVOLVE World Tag Team champions. He closes with "EVOLVE has been Asleep and it's time for them to wake up. The Awakening is here!"

After the Main Event Timothy Thatcher and his manager Stokely Hathaway slide out of the ring and run to the back. Hero looks livid as he stares as ZSJ on the ground. He starts waving at the back and Pete Dunne and JT Dunn come running through the curtain and slide in the ring. All three men start stomping away at ZSJ he tries to escape but Dunn and Dunne lift him up and Hero hits a big Emerald Elbow to knock him out. Suddenly Mark Andrews and Will Ospreay slide in the ring and The Awakening hits the bricks scampering from the ring and out through the crowd backing up laughing with their hands in the air. Ospreay and Andrew check on ZSJ as the show ends.

WWN North American Championship Number One Contenders Match

The World Wrestling Network has seen its fair share of growth over the past year. So they have decided to implement some title similar to that of the National Wrestling Alliance. One such title is the new WWN North American Championship currently held by "brother" YASSHI . Now these three men will look to earn their shot for EVOLVE 80 at that title. ACH has been reletivly hot inside the WWN and looks to continue a string of strong multi-man match wins. Cage is a monster to be feared but hasn’t been able to gain much momentum in the way of EVOLVE. Then with the newly debuted Sami Callihan got a big win at EVOLVE 77 last month by submission has caught the eye of EVOLVE Management. These three men are sure to have a hard hitting war as they look to earn their title shot and a month off.

Matt Riddle is a hot commodity right now on the independent circuit and rumors have been swirling that NJPW and AAA have offered him touring contracts. He has his heart set on an EVOLVE World title run though so those rumors may be unfounded. Chuck Taylor has made a name for himself as a happy go lucky, comedy style wrestler who uses things like invisible grenades to win matches, will he be able to withstand the hard hitting power and technical prowess of Riddle, or will Riddle make Chuck tap?

It was just two months ago that Fred Yehi and Tracy Williams were flying high as the EVOLVE World Tag Team Champions. Then after losing them to the Awakening Fred Yehi asked for a different partner, taking the debuting Lio Rush into his rematch with the champions. This month The Awakening are all tied up in the main event so Tracy Williams has to wait for his rematch against the champs, so he will take this time for revenge against his former partner. Can Tracy Williams pull out a strong win against Fred Yehi, or will Yehi, YEAH 5X on his adversary?

What is sure to be a high flying, hard hitting affair will see Player Dos take on the newcomer Lio Rush. Rush debuted last month in a Tag Team Championship match along side Fred Yehi, this month he looks to strike out on some singles success. Player Dos hasn’t picked up a win in months and Lio Rush looks to continue that streak.

Ricochet is being given his World Title match that he earned at EVOLVE 76. Luckily for him it will be one on one with Timothy Thatcher and not in a multi-man match. Timothy Thatcher defended his title last month and is now celebrating over a year with the EVOLVE World title and 12 defences of the belt after a severe concussion kept him out of defenses for the past several months. His manager Stokely Hathaway set up the match with the famed Ricochet hoping for a bigger pay-day but Thatcher’s patience with his manager is growing thin, so could we see the splintering lead to a new champion or will Thatcher and Hathaway hold on to the title for a little longer?

He beats him down with big rights on the ground drawing blood from his head. Dunne stands up and charges Riddle but riddle ducks a lariat attempt and when Dunne turns around he is met with a big drop kick sending him over the top rope right into Hero's arms. Tournament of EVOLUTION Seeding Match

Adam Cole picked up a big win last month against Low-Ki. This month he will face the former number one contender to the EVOLVE World Championship. Ricochet came so close to picking up the EVOLVE World title last month but interference cost him the match, now he is looking for a high seeding in the Tournament of EVOLUTION to earn himself another shot. Adam Cole has been on a tear through every other company he has been in and he looks to add EVOLVE to that list and hopes that a high seeding in the Tournament of EVOLUTION will earn him his shot at the EVOLVE World championship.

Another match with Tournament of EVOLUTION implications. Jimmy Havoc made his debut last month in a winning effort in the main event. Sami Callihan is the current number one contender to the WWN North American Championship. These two men are known for their hard hitting style and will go into this match looking for a higher seeding in ToE. Both men have their eyes on the prize as we head towards this historic tournament.

Matt Riddle came to the aide of Tracy Williams last week after the Main Event and now Paul Heyman wants to see just how well they will gel as a tag team. They take on a team who are also testing their cohesiveness. Yehi and Rush almost became Tag Team champions a couple months ago and now they look cement themselves as a solid tag team, will Riddle and Williams stop that or can Rush and Yehi pull out a strong win?

Low-Ki vs The Gatekeepers

This match comes with two strong complications. For Low-Ki a win could guarantee him the Number One seed in the Tournament of EVOLUTION. For The Gatekeepers, who have been on a losing streak, it would guarantee them a shot at the EVOLVE World Tag Team Championships at EVOLVE 80. So with the three men in this match having so much to lose they will all be fighting for their lives, because with great rewards comes great sacrifices. If Low-Ki loses he will lose his spot in the Tournament of EVOLUTION, and if the Gatekeepers lose they will be fired!

Pete Dunne and JT Dunn will take on the an experienced team and will show why the hard hitting maniacs, the Kings of the Bruiserweights will always be victorious.

He says that depending on their standing inside of EVOLVE and some matches tonight will determine the seeding for the tournament. He says that the only people in EVOLVE not in contention in the tournament are the champions and the three men in the main event tonight. He said five men will be brought in to replace those men in the five open tournament spots. He then thanked the crowd and exited the ring.

Very few teams have challenged The Awakening since their reign began, but the WWN hope that the World Tag Team champions of both Dragon Gate and Full Impact Pro will offer up the challenge and hopefully new champions.

Mercedes Martinez has avoided all chance to defend her WWN World Women’s Championship, feigning injury and out right refusing to defend the belt she won almost five months ago. Well the WWN has given her the ultimatum defend her belt at EVOLVE 81 The Final Encounter or be stripped of both her WWN and SHIMMER Women’s Championships. Mia Yim, the challenger, is the current SHINE Champion and will look to take the title from Martiniez in what should be an impressive match.

While Sami Callihan hasn’t been the most trustworthy or admirable competitor inside EVOLVE in since his debut he takes special disdain against Chris Hero and his group EVOLVE. Hero said in an interview recently that the reason Sami hates him so much is because he wasn’t included in The Awakening because he is the one who is most in need of being Awoken. Hero has decided that EVOLVE 81 is the perfect place for this match to take place and signed on the dotted line.

Chris Hero, JT Dunn, and Pete Dunne stand in the center of the ring to start EVOLVE 81. Hero lifts a microphone to his lips. "For months The Awakening have dominated EVOLVE, we had decimated all competition. While Pete and JT have taken on all comers and held these tag team belts I haven't been able to capture any gold. But by the end of the night, by the end of the night I promise you The Awakening WILL HAVE ALL OF THE GOLD!" Chris Hero throws the mic onto the ground and ducks out of the ring as Dunne and Dunn stay standing in the ring taking off their tag titles to the ref ready for their match.

After the Main Event The Awakening is surrounding the ring staring at Will Ospreay. He grabs a microphone and smiles. "Boy's, if you want to come in and give me a hug, well just come on in and get the damn hug." The four members slide into the ring with grimaces on their faces. Ospreay smiles and holds out his arms the WWN title in one hand and the EVOLVE title in the other. The crowd is silenced waiting to see what happens. The four men embrace Ospreay as he laughs and the crowd boos loudly. Ospreay gets back on the microphone. "You idiots think Hero was the leader of this group, no offense Chris but you have bigger and better things to do then deal with these idiots. Chris is part of the WWE's NXT, and I am a big star over in Japan! Not to mention the best wrestler in the world. Now I know that I have matches lined up who knows when I will defend these belts again..."

Suddenly Riddle and ZSJ slide into the ring and try to attack The Awakening but are stopped in their tracks. The four men of The Awakening beat down Riddle and Zack Sabre Jr. as Martinez stands in a corner and watches laughing and applauding holding all of the teams Gold in her arms. Once ZSJ and Riddle are rolled out of the ring unconscious the Awakening grab their respective belts and pose in the center of the ring with smiles on their faces to end the show.

He tells Ospreay that he doesn't deserve to hold the EVOLVE title that he hasn't done anything noteworthy hell he lost to the guy he could face in just a couple months not to long ago. Havoc said that he wants a shot at the title and he has more than earned it by going sixty minutes with one of the greatest wrestlers in the company. He tells Ospreay to be ready for next month, because that title is going to get a nice dose of Havoc!

Hero having lost the title a little over a week before this card was posted looks to take out Riddle before he can get to the champion Will Ospreay. The Awakening have been on a tear ever since winning these belts and haven't let anyone or anything come in the way of them keeping the belts around their waists. Fred Yehi and Lio Rush have been teaming up off and on and have finally decided to become an official team in EVOLVE going by A Pair of Aces. Will the young gun team of Rush and Yehi be able to unthrone the Tag Team Champions?

In a bout that had good wrestling and a decent reaction from the crowd, Matt Riddle defeated Chris Hero in a 30 Minute Iron Man match in 30:00 by two falls to one.

Match Rating: 50 (D+)

Matt Riddle stands in the ring after beating Chris Hero and has a microphone in hand. He is battle worn aftern the 30 minute iron man match and seems to barely be able to stand. "Tonight I beat that Young Knockout Kid Chris Hero, next month I want the Awakening's tag team specialist, Pete Dunne and JT Dunn!" The crowd goes crazy, "I am going to take you both out and make no mistake about it, at EVOLVE 85 when I get my hands on you Will Ospreay, I am going to beat you too and take that EVOLVE and WWN World Heavyweight Championships". Riddle drops the microphone and then rolls out of the ring.

WWN/EVOLVE World Tag Team Championships Match

In a decent match, A Pair Of Aces defeated The Awakening in 14:40 when Pete Dunne intentionally got disqualified while fighting Fred Yehi.

In a bout that had great wrestling and good heat, The Suicide Solution defeated The Young Bucks in 20:28 when Tyson Dux defeated Matt Jackson by pinfall with a handful of tights.

After the match the Young Bucks look shocked as Tyson Dux and Tracy Williams roll out of the ring and make their way up the ramp. Adam Cole's music hits and he walks past them down to the ring. He slides in and stares at The Young Bucks. He is handed a microphone. "Hey, sometimes cheap people do cheap things, they held the tights and beat you two. But that doesn't change the fact that these two men right here are the best tag team in the world TODAY! They are apart of the greatest faction in Professional Wrestling History, The BULLET CLUB! So tonight The Awakening is put on notice. BULLET CLUB runs EVOLVE now, and soon we will have the belts to prove it!" Adam Cole drops the mic and the three men too sweet eachother and then embrace in a hug.

OI4K vs Low-Ki, Alex Koslov and Rocky Romero

In a decent match, Ohio is 4 Killers (Sami Callihan, Dave Crist and Jake Crist) defeated Low-Ki and Forever Hooligans in 14:36 when Sami Callihan defeated Alex Koslov by pinfall with a Headlock Driver.

WWN/EVOLVE World Heavyweight Championship Match

In a bout that had great heat and good wrestling, Will Ospreay defeated Jimmy Havoc in 29:44 by pinfall after using a foreign object. Will Ospreay makes defence number 6 of his WWN World Heavyweight title. Will Ospreay makes defence number 3 of his EVOLVE World Heavyweight title.

Will Ospreay having just defended his title against Jimmy Havoc grabs a microphone. "Ladies and Gentleman, The Awakening still rule EVOLVE and the WWN!" Hero, Dunne, and Dunn make their way to the ring sliding in. "Chris...Chris, where is your belt?" Ospreay asks as he throws his own title over his shoulder and Dunne and Dunn do the same thing. "Oh that's right you lost it over in Japan to some guy who shouldn't ahve been able to compete with you!" Ospreay and the Dunn's surround Hero and he looks at all of them. The three run in at him knocking him to the ground and stomp away. "The Awakening doesn't accept Failures!" Ospreay yells into the microphone. "Aside from one small misstep by this failure We are the most dominant Faction in all of wrestling, so bring Your BULLET CLUB and bring O-I-4-K, we will destroy them all and send them packing!"

WWN/EVOLVE World Tag Team Championships Number One Contenders Match

These four teams each of different amounts of experience here in EVOLVE. The newly added team of Jake and Dave Crist look to push forward Ohio Is 4 Killers in the minds of fans and the easiest way to do that is get a shot at the World Tag Team titles. Forever Hooligans look to push themselves to the forefront of fans minds by taking this match and earning another shot at the Tag belts. The Suicide Solution pulled out a surprise win over the Young Bucks last month and with Nick Jackson still recovering from an injury this month The Suicide Solution takes their spot in this match and could take their place in a Tag Team title match next month. Finally A Pair of Aces picked up a win last month against the tag team champions, The Awakening, but by Disqualification as Pete Dunne got himself intentionally disqualified. This month Fred Yehi and Leo Rush look to earn another shot at the Belts.

Zack Sabre Jr. vs The Big O

Singles Match

The Big O makes his debut in EVOLVE Wrestling taking on none other than the best technical wrestler in the world Zack Sabre Jr.! ZSJ will make his return and again try to climb the ladder towards a World Title match, but The Big O is a beast of a man and may look to destroy ZSJ and his chances at that. Who will be able to win this match as a true clash of David and Goliath takes place here in EVOLVE.

Matt Riddle vs The Awakening

One vs Two Handicap Match

Last Month Matt Riddle called out the tag team champions for a handicap match. Well they answered the call and Matt Riddle now finds himself in a handicap match. The Awakening don’t have to win the tag team titles this month and will try and handicap Matt Riddle before his big WWN/EVOLVE World Heavyweight Championship shots next month. Will this rise of Matt Riddle be capped off with a win against the Tag Champs, or will The Awakening put Riddle back in his place?

Triple Threat Match

WWN/EVOLVE World Heavyweight Championship match

Last month at the end of EVOLVE 83 Will Ospreay told the BULLET CLUB and OI4K to bring everything they had because The Awakening controlled EVOLE Wrestling. So EVOLVE management has taken him up on that putting the head of the BC, Adam Cole, and head of OI4K, Sami Callihan, in a World Championship match against him. Callihan has been off and on successful and looks to capitalize on his biggest opportunity yet. Adam Cole is a perennial main eventer on the Indy Wrestling scene and sees this as his right more than an opportunity. So who walks out of this World Title match as the champion and will take on Matt Riddle next month?
