2017 looks like the year TNA will finally make a rise in the wrestling world after years of poor desicision and leadership. On January 5th Anthem Sports bought out TNA and almost over night re-branded to IMPACT Wrestling completly dropping the TNA. They hired Jeff Jerrett as new chair and head of creative and leaving no control of any desision making for Dixie Carter, she stays strictly as a board consultant. Before the launch of their debut show unfortunately Matt and Jeff Hardy, Drew Galloway, Mike Bennett, Maria Kanellis, and Jade all walk out of the company due to poor contract renegotiations. Jerrett emphasises this is not how the new regime will continue and was a poor start due to the confusing shuffle of business takeover. On a positive note Jerrett has managed to persuade old contacts inside Spike to pick up IMPACT as a trial in its usual slot on Thursdays nights. They will be aired across the US, Canada and the UK. The company heads back to Florida where all their tapings will be taking place for the time being. Ahead of time Anthem announces Mike Tenay will be returning and taking the head Play by Play spot with Jeremy Borash joining him on Colour.

The Wrestling Observer Reports -

- Just three days away from the first IMPACT on Spike IMPACT Wrestling have made the following cuts to its roster: Aiden O'Shea, Crazzy Steve, Grado, Jessie Godderz, Mercedes Steele, Rockstar Spud, Swoggle and Tyrus. This makes the roster paper thin.

- Jarrett has reportly sent pay per apperance offers to several wrestlers including Kenny Omega, Adam Cole, The Young Bucks, The Briscoe Brothers, Ryan Reeves (Ryback). As well as plans to bulk their X Division.

- Sting has been see backstage at the first IMPACT tapings.

Storm squashes Robbie to get the win. Robbie sand bags the finish after putting on a horrible performance. These two don't work well together which was proven by the amount of boos the crowd gave both men involved.

The show opens to the welcomed return of the familiar voice of Mike Tenay, who introduces the new Anthem era of IMPACT Wrestling. With him is Jeremy Borash another familiar voice to TNA fans joining him on colour. They introduce the man at the reins:Jeff Jerrett.

Jeff Jerrett walks out in a suit with three championships, the IMPACT World title around his waist, the X Division over one shoulder and the Woman's Division over the other. He steps into the ring and gets on to the mic announcing that these newly designed titles will be the only gold IMPACT offers going forward and the champions will remain the same, but all three will defend tonight. He then announces Slammiversary and Bound for Glory have moved dates to the third week of April and third week of June respectively.

Rex held the match together and put a good effort into getting the crowd invovled in the story. Rex made Edwards look good after cheating several times to solidify Edwards as a babyface. Rex however gets in the win after 12:22.

He insults Cody who he was meant to have a match with but Cody is stuck in Japan. Mantel steps out to try an arrange another match against Abyss but Patron laughs and mocks Mantel and Abyss. Getting angry Patron runs up the ramp and beats down Dutch Mantel.

The match starts off quick paced with both men laying in to each other. The crowd loves the good wrestling. When Lashley gets involved attacking both men the match turns into a wild brawl. EC3 gets the better of it pinning Rex after 14 mins to become contender.

- Jerrett has announced ROH stars Jay Lethal, Frankie Kazarian and Colt Cabana have inked exclusive deals with IMPACT.

- New Japan in renegotiations with Omega not to lose him to IMPACT. Omega has been quoted saying he's 'intrested in a new challenge and the opportunity to make himself the face of a company.'

Music interrupts them before Frankie Kazarian runs out beating Lee and Everett down on the stage. He proclaims himself as the no1 contender and will prove against anyone. Jarrett books match. Moose wants a rematch while Patron doesn’t think moose deserves to even share the ring with him. The commotion disturbs Storm who steps out of the locker room. He tells Moose to grow a pair and for Patron to fight like a man. Patron rages as Storm calmly walks away. The two put on a decent performance that warms up the crowd. Half way into the match they slide into a fast rhythm. Towards the end the match almost feels like a X Division showcase with ACH getting the win.

Alissa Flash vs Brooke Tessmacher
The two women struggle to get the fans behind them. Flash uses the match to put her gimmick in place by cheating and manhandling Tessmacher. She wins after 8 minutes.

EC3’s entrance music plays as the man steps out onto the stage. He keeps it short that he accepts the challenge and looks forward to hurting Rex tonight. He adds whoever loses has to step down from the title run.

A decent match up with Bram having answers to any high flying offense Ibushi tries to use angering the fans. This continues up until the closing minutes, Ibushi throws Bram out the ring followed by a suicide dive which allows him to unleash a high spot sequence to moves earning him the win.

Tetsuya Naito steps out to call Ibushi an embarrassment

Naito steps out and slowly walks down the ramp, the fans go crazy for the New Japan main eventer, yet his speech suffers due to his poor english. He steps up onto apron and explains how excited he was to join IMPACT but Ibushi is an embarrassment to Puroesu. He will eliminate Ibushi next week so the fans have a real Japanese icon to root for.

Rosemary and Abyss shows the fans a video of their vicious attack on Love

The two come to the ring and grab a mic before their match. They announce that they will dominate IMPACT as they once did. They show a video up on the tron, Its of Abyss and Rosemary beating Angelina Love down to a bloody pulp. They don’t stop until medics run in and take her away.

Raven makes Abyss stand up for himself

Abyss sits in the corner ashamed of himself just as he did last week. Ryan Back taunts him and teases him to get back up and fight. Almost as soon as the match is over Raven runs out onto the stage with a mic demanding Abyss stands up for himself. Ravens inspirational speech makes Abyss get up who immediately gets hit by another spear. Ryan Back celebrates as Raven runs to the ring to help Abyss.

The faces put in a good showing and out number the other team as Kaz ducks out of tagging in choosing to stick it out ringside. He cheap shots the guys standing on the apron several times. London makes a good showing diving onto four men out at ringside. DJZ looks as if he's going to get the win when Kaz finally tags in to get a cheap shot on DJZ and win.

Kaz beats down partners, Lethal jumps railing to celebrate

With the Helms Dynasty celebrating the win, Kaz turns on them beating them down in the ring. He grabs the ring bell and knocks both men out with it. As his music plays and he celebrates Jay Lethal steps out to join him celebrating his win.

Lashley and Rex meet backstage

Rex pulls Lashley to the side of the backstage area and hands him over what looks like a roll of dollars. The two continue to talk for a moment before shaking hands.

Triple Threat Match KOTM Qualifier
Alberto El Patron vs Moose vs James Storm

The three men try to tear the house down. Patron and Storm put on a crazy battle that get the fan riled up. Moose continues to roll in and out the ring nailing major spots. The three nail a fast paced sequence during which Patron rolls out the ring and hides under the ring. Storm gets the win over Moose.

Patron beats down Moose into the crowd, Kenny Omega aims gun

When Patron surfaces and realises Moose lost the match he rages and attacks Moose. The two brawl as Moose puts up a fight. They spill into the crowd and fight through the fans. Patron grabs a man’s crutch and snaps it over the head of Moose knocking him out. A hooded man makes a gun shape with his hand putting it up against Patron’s head. He reveals himself as Kenny Omega.

Lethal backstage with Jarrett promises to retire Everett and Lee next week

Jarrett and Lethal step out of an office shaking hands, Jeff welcoming Jay Lethal back to the company. Lethal promises to clean up the roster and will start by retiring Everett and Lee next week. Jarrett asks him not to join Kaz in his vendetta against the new era of X division stars.

Rex attacks EC3 as he makes his entrance before the match even starts. The two brawl in front of the ring using several weapons that have been laid out at ringside, such as trash cans, road signs, singapour canes etc. The match starts when the action spills into the ring, neither man having the upper hand they trade blows. Then EC3 is down Rex pulls knuckle dusters out of his boot, they are teased but not used. A table is put into the ring which again is teased until on the top rope EC3 superlexs Rex through it. He looks as if he’s going to get the win when Lashley runs in attacking EC3. He uses the belt to bloody EC3, Rex gets up to use the knuckledusters ending the match. Rex and Lashley leave together celebrating.

Tenay: I can’t believe this, why would Lashley help Rex!

Borash: EC3 now cannot pursue the championship, while Rex can! I guess Lashley would rather defend against Rex?

Tenay: Or just took a cheap payday!

Borash: What about Kenny Omega! And Jay Lethal! So many questions need answering next week.
