WWE NXT: August 2, 2017

August 2nd, 2017 – NXT emanates once again from Full Sail University in beautiful Orlando, Florida with another night of action with just a few weeks until NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn III. The NXT commentary team of Mauro Ranallo, Percy Watson, and Nigel McGuinness join us for the action, with Mauro promising that it’ll be “lit”. A few match graphics are shown promoting Sonya Deville in action, as well as Aleister Black in action. Also, up next, is the return of “Johnny Wrestling” Johnny Gargano as he takes on Raul Mendoza.

JOHNNY GARGANO DEF. RAUL MENDOZA – In his official in-ring return since being blindsided by his former best friend Tommaso Ciampa, Johnny Gargano showed his in-ring intelligence by taking on fellow Cruiserweight Classic competitor Raul Mendoza. Gargano looked like a man on a mission inside the ring, perhaps trying to send a message to Ciampa, as he eventually put Mendoza down with the Gargano Escape for the victory.

While Johnny Gargano is looking to get his revenge on his former tag team partner, the feed cuts to a recap of last week’s brawl between NXT Tag Team Champions the Authors of Pain and SAnitY. These two wild duos are a force to be reckoned with in the ring. A graphic is then shown promoting a huge non-title match between the two teams next week on NXT!

A video is shown promoting the upcoming debut of NXT’s newest tag team who keep it 100. Angelo Dawkins and Montez Ford both like to party it up in and out of the ring. The Street Profits are coming soon to NXT!

The intimidating theme music of NXT Women’s Champion Asuka hits the Full Sail speakers as the ever-confident champion swags her way to the ring with a smile on her face, a cocky smile at that. Asuka is out here to address the “sneaky and unworthy” Ember Moon. Asuka mentions that she accepts Ember’s challenge for NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn III, but she mentions that Ember Moon is not ready for Asuka. Asuka also notes that she has already beaten Ember Moon to retain the NXT Women’s Championship and will gladly do it again. However, her speech is cut short by the arrival of Ember Moon, who is not pleased with the comments of the NXT Women’s champion. Moon retorts that Asuka is not ready for Ember Moon, noting that this rematch will be a lot different then their last match. Moon is ready to dethrone Asuka and claim her rightfully earned spot on top of the NXT Women’s division. The two women drop the microphones and after a bit of yelling in each other’s face, the brawl is on! Asuka manages to get the advantage by dropping Ember with a kick, and then she turns away to cockily smile and gloat for this small victory. However, Ember Moon ascended the turnbuckles and as soon as Asuka turned back around, she connects with the Eclipse! Asuka rolls out of the ring immediately, getting out of dodge as Ember Moon stands tall over her NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn III opponent.

A video package is shown highlighting the NXT career so far of Aleister Black. This man is not a good person, nor is he an evil person. He is the perfect balance of true good and pure evil, allowing his violent side to show in the ring as NXT’s resident Hellion. Aleister Black is in action later tonight!

HEAVY MACHINERY DEF. TINO SABBATELLI & RIDDICK MOSS – The heavy duo of Tucker Knight and Otis Dozovic have been unstoppable in their last few NXT appearances, often crushing and bulldozing through their opponents. While the experienced Sabbatelli and Moss did give them a challenge tonight, the momentum driven Heavy Machinery secured the pinfall victory with The Compactor to put away Moss.

A graphic is shown promoting a match between Andrade “Cien” Almas and No Way Jose next week on NXT, only on the WWE Network.

An ad is shown promoting the upcoming WWE 2K18 video game. If you preorder now, you get to play as Kurt Angle. The deluxe edition also allows you to play four days early. You can preorder the game now wherever video games are sold.

A video package is shown highlighting the extensive martial arts training of “The Jersey Devil” Sonya Deville. Deville, a trained mixed martial artist, enjoys beating people up in the ring and she will use her technical prowess to eventually become the NXT Women’s champion. She claims that the NXT Women’s division is now her division. Sonya Deville is in action – next!

SONYA DEVILLE DEF. BARBI HAYDEN – Barbi Hayden is a local competitor who was considered for the Mae Young Classic tournament coming to the WWE Network later in the month. Hayden did try to impress in this match, but Sonya Deville made it incredibly hard for her. Deville stopped toying with her opponent and finished the bout with her devastating kneeling double wrist lock.

A graphic was shown thanking Creeper for “Poison Pens”, one of the official theme songs for NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn III.

Cutting backstage, NXT’s backstage interviewer Christy St. Cloud is standing by with “The International Sensation” Hideo Itami. St. Cloud thanked Itami for joining her and she dove right into the question on everybody’s mind: why did he viciously attack Kassius Ohno after their match last week on NXT. Itami was not pleased with the question, refusing to answer and states that Christy needs to learn how to show respect. Itami then aggressively took the microphone from her hand and he walked up the stairs down the hallway, eventually making it to the ring in the middle of Full Sail Live. Itami noted angrily that he is tired of the disrespect from the NXT locker room. Itami added that he doesn’t care who is supposed to come out for the next match, he is not leaving until NXT shows him the respect he deserves. But the competitor who’s scheduled for the next match did come out. And that man is not truly good, nor truly evil… Aleister Black slowly rises from the ground as he stares down Hideo Itami from the top of the ramp. Black slowly stalks his way down the ramp as the NXT Universe is buzzing from this face-off between Black and Itami. The two men stare each other down as the NXT Universe salivates with anticipation for a match between these two. Itami backs up slightly and then tries to connect with a sneak attack but he eats a Black Mass kick for his troubles. Hideo rolls out and walks back up the ramp as Black sits coolly in the middle of the ring. As Hideo Itami returns to the back, Aleister Black’s opponent walks out to the ring to a big ovation from the NXT Universe… he Is Kyle O’Reilly!

ALEISTER BLACK DEF. KYLE O’REILLY – A great main event between two of NXT’s newest additions, with Kyle O’Reilly being a standout competitor around the world having competed for wrestling promotions such as ROH and NJPW. O’Reilly was noted as a good friend with Bobby Fish, who made his debut a few weeks ago in a loss to Black. O’Reilly and Aleister traded stiff shots and excruciating submissions, with O’Reilly almost securing the victory at multiple points in the match. However, near the end, as if a demon entered his body, Aleister Black carried his momentum to a win as he dragged the limp body of Kyle off the mat with his foot and then knocking him back down with the Black Mass kick that led to the pinfall victory.

After the match, Kyle O’Reilly rolled out of the ring clutching his jaw as Aleister Black sat cross-legged in the middle of the NXT ring as the lights faded to black with a red hue engulfing Full Sail Live. However, Black’s celebration was cut short as Hideo Itami ran down and slid into the ring and kneed “The Root of All Evil” right in the side of the head! Itami continued to pounce on his new enemy, deciding to put things to rest when he lifted Black onto his shoulders and then dropping him with the Go 2 Sleep! Itami decided that wasn’t enough as he dropped Aliester with another Go 2 Sleep, and then a third! Hideo Itami stood tall over the broken body of Black, his message clear: everybody needs to respect Hideo Itami.

August 9th, 2017 – NXT emanates once again from Full Sail University in beautiful Orlando, Florida with another night of action with just a two short weeks until NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn III. The commentary trio for the night consist of Mauro Ranallo, Vic Joseph, and Percy Watston, who are all excited for this action-packed night of action. Joseph, making his NXT debut, mentions our big main event between Andrade “Cien” Almas and No Way Jose. Plus, tonight live in Full Sail, NXT Champion Bobby Roode and Drew McIntyre will be face-to-face for the NXT Championship contract signing.

The NXT Tag Team Champions The Authors of Pain hurry their way to the ring as they do not look impressed. Akam and Rezar, sans Paul Ellering, enter the squared circle and immediately call out SAnitY to come out and face them face-to-face. The NXTron soon lights up to a video of SAnitY out in the parking lot of Full Sail. Eric Young stands in the parking lot with Nikki Cross, both of them laughing as Young uses a lead pipe against the motionless body of Paul Ellering on the cold concrete of the ground. Akam and Rezar become super pissed inside the ring, but Killian Dain and Alexander Wolfe run out from the crowd and beat the NXT Tag Team Champions to the mat from behind! Wolfe and Dain continue the beat down until the Authors both remain motionless on the ring mat. Wolfe and Dain hold the NXT Tag Team Championships high in the air, making their message loud and clear tonight on NXT.

THE STREET PROFITS DEF. THE METRO BROS – This is the NXT debut of The Street Profits, the fun-loving party-going duo of Angelo Dawkins and Montez Ford. The local enhancement talent of Chris and JC Metro didn’t stand much of a chance against the solo-cup-maestros. The Street Profits kept it 100 throughout the match, effectively walking away with the big W following a big frog splash from Ford on JC for the pinfall.

A graphic is shown promoting a match in the NXT Women’s division where Ruby Riot will face Billie Kay in a one-on-one match! Who will walk away victorious in this match that could potentially affect the contendership standings for the NXT Women’s Championship.

A video package is shown highlighting the NXT career so far of Aleister Black. This man is not a good person, nor is he an evil person. He is the perfect balance of true good and pure evil, allowing his violent side to show in the ring as NXT’s resident Hellion. Last week, Aleister Black put away the debuting Kyle O’Reilly. A graphic is then shown to announce the newest match signed for NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn III: Aleister Black vs. Hideo Itami.

GLORIOUS! The theme music of NXT Champion Bobby Roode resonates through Full Sail Live as the champion walks down to the ring in a custom-tailored expensive suit while surrounded with a personal security detail. NXT General Manager William Regal is already in the ring and he shakes Roode’s hand upon Bobby entering the ring. The personal security detail forms a circle around Roode as McIntyre comes out second. Regal shakes the challenger’s hand as he enters the ring. Roode quickly mentions that he’s not afraid of Drew McIntyre, he has the security in case “that psychopath Roderick Strong tries to attack greatness.” McIntyre sarcastically laughed at the statement, then mentioning that Roode should be afraid of him because he is the one who will dethrone the champion. McIntyre adds that everyone in NXT should be afraid of him, because he is here to show the world just who he is and what he’s capable of. Roode scoffs at the statement, then mentioning that even Roderick Strong would be more of a challenge than Drew. Roode signs the contract and gives McIntyre the floor. “I am better than Roderick Strong and you will regret saying that. You may have beat him to retain that title, but he had you beat. If he could come that close to beating you, I will have no problem.” retorts Drew as he signs the contract.

“Drew, Drew. You are not better than me. And Bobby, if it weren’t for that technicality of the rope break, I would be the one standing in that ring holding the NXT Championship. I know it, you know it, Drew knows it, and this NXT Universe knows it. Hell, if Drew had his number one contendership match against me, he would not be in that ring singing that contract.” announced an irate Roderick Strong from the top of the ramp. As both Bobby Roode and Drew McIntyre yell at Strong from the ring, Regal intervenes and commands them all to quit their bickering. With everybody silent, Regal made a huge announcement. “Gentlemen, I do believe Roderick Strong has a strong case here. Therefore, in the spirit of competition in the NXT brand, next week Drew McIntyre will face Roderick Strong… now Drew, Drew, you have already earned your chance to compete for the NXT Championship in Brooklyn. So, if Roderick Strong wins next week, he will join you two men and Bobby Roode will defend the NXT Championship in a Triple Threat match in the Barclays Center.” states Regal, as Bobby Roode is very upset at the announcement. “And Mr. Roode, if you dare interfere next week, you will be stripped of the NXT Championship and Drew and Roderick will compete in a singles match in Brooklyn for the vacant title.” adds Regal as he dismisses this contract signing by taking the contract and leaving the ring, as NXT heads to commercial.

An ad is shown promoting the upcoming WWE 2K18 video game. If you preorder now, you get to play as Kurt Angle. The deluxe edition also allows you to play four days early. You can preorder the game now wherever video games are sold.

A graphic was shown thanking Code Orange for “Bleeding In The Blur”, one of the official theme songs for NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn III.

ONEY LORCAN DEF. DANNY BURCH – One of the hardest-hitting matches in recent NXT history between these two rugged in-ring brawlers. With every stiff shot, both men seemed to grow a newfound respect for one another. In the end, Lorcan proved to be the tougher competitor after he put Burch down with a half-and-half suplex for the win.

A video package is shown highlighting the recent announcement on Twitter: starting right after NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn III, the NXT Series starts. This round-robin tournament will consist of two blocks of competitors where the winner will earn a shot at the NXT Championship at NXT TakeOver: Philadelphia in January. Here are the competitors in the A Block of the NXT Series: Aleister Black, Buddy Murphy, Johnny Gargano, Kassius Ohno, Kyle O'Reilly, Luke Harper, Roderick Strong, and The Velveteen Dream. Check wwe.com for more details and stay tuned to NXT next week when the B Block will be showcased!

A graphic is shown promoting the main event of WWE NXT next week, where Roderick Strong takes on Drew McIntyre in singles action. If Roderick Strong wins, he will be added into the NXT Championship match at NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn III!

ANDRADE “CIEN” ALMAS DEF. NO WAY JOSE – With the unnamed woman influence by his side, Andrade Almas came out with a mission in mind. No Way Jose, while fun-loving, had business on his mind here tonight against Almas. Both men brought their A-game to the ring tonight, but with the influence at his side, Almas eventually won the contest with the La Sombra maneuver for the victory.

Following the match, Andrade “Cien” Almas kicked No Way Jose out of the ring, proclaiming it “his ring”. The unnamed woman entered the ring soon after with a smile on her face. She grabs the microphone and mentions that she is proud of him gaining the victory tonight. However, Andrade needs more competition, so she has talked to William Regal and a new match has been added to NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn III… Andrade “Cien” Almas vs. Johnny Gargano!

August 16th, 2017 – WWE NXT comes to you live from Full Sail University in beautiful Orlando, Florida for the last time before NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn III! The commentary trio of Percy Watson, Nigel McGuinness, and Mauro Ranallo are hyped for tonight’s action, including the huge main event made by General Manager William Regal last week. Tonight, Roderick Strong takes on Drew McIntyre in a singles bout and if Strong is able to win the match, he will be added to the NXT Championship match this Saturday in Brooklyn. Also tonight, Ruby Riot will face Billie Kay in the NXT Women’s division. All this and much more tonight on NXT!

BUDDY MURPHY DEF. KONA REEVES – With the announcement of his inclusion in the NXT Series, Buddy Murphy used this opportunity on NXT TV to show the world he is the best kept secret of NXT. Reeves did look impressive in defeat, but Buddy kept his momentum going ahead of the series by putting Kona away with the Murphy’s Law.

A video recap is shown highlighting the sneak attack by SAnitY on the NXT Tag Team Champions last week. By blindsiding The Authors of Pain, SAnitY was able to make this feud personal when Eric Young knocked Paul Ellering out cold in the parking lot with a lead pipe. Now, The Authors of Pain get a chance at revenge when they face SAnitY’s Killian Dain and Alexander Wolfe at NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn III. However, per William Regal’s decision, the NXT Tag Team Championships will be on the line as well. Don’t miss this epic match this Saturday night on WWE Network.

A video is shown highlighting the NXT career so far of Ember Moon. “The War Goddess” was on a rampage in NXT by besting almost every member of the NXT Women’s division… except for Asuka. While Asuka may have won the match at NXT TakeOver: Orlando, Ember promises to win the war come this Saturday at NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn III. Moon, in a voiceover, stated that she is ready to finally be the one to put down Asuka and rise from the ashes of the NXT Women’s division that Asuka burnt down and lead the NXT women to new heights.

A graphic was shown thanking Phil Ade for “No Fear”, one of the official theme songs for NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn III.

BILLIE KAY (WITH PEYTON ROYCE) DEF. RUBY RIOT – The Iconic Duo were ready for action tonight, as was the “Punk Rock Ragdoll” in this match in the NXT Women’s division. With Royce by her side, Billie Kay was able to sneakily use the two-on-one advantage to her benefit. Ruby Riot did gain the upperhand throughout the contest, but in the end, the numbers game was too strong which allowed Billie Kay to connect with a running big boot for the victory.

The Iconic Duo stood tall in the middle of the ring over the fallen Ruby Riot, both of them mocking the tattooed superchick. Kay and Royce both display their disgust over the appearance of Riot. Eventually, the Duo leave the ring but only to grab something from beside the ring… a pair of scissors. Royce returns in the ring and holds Ruby’s arms back as Billie Kay uses the scissors to cut a strand of hair from Ruby’s head. Riot is pissed as The Iconic Duo laugh at their action after escaping the ring while twirling the stand of hair. The Iconic Duo are definitely in the head of Ruby Riot.

An ad is shown promoting the upcoming WWE 2K18 video game. If you preorder now, you get to play as Kurt Angle. The deluxe edition also allows you to play four days early. You can preorder the game now wherever video games are sold.

Here are the competitors in the B Block of the NXT Series: Andrade Almas, Bobby Fish, Dolph Ziggler, Eric Young, Gran Metalik, Hideo Itami, Kota Ibushi, and Oney Lorcan. Check wwe.com for more details and stay tuned to NXT next week when the first matches of the NXT Series are aired live on WWE Network from Detroit!

A video is shown to the tune of “No Fear” by Phil Adé promoting the NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn III card that will air live from the Barclays Center this Saturday night on WWE Network. You do not want to miss the huge event that kicks off SummerSlam weekend! In a sure-to-be hard-hitting contest, Hideo Itami takes on Aleister Black. Plus, Andrade “Cien” Almas looks to continue his winning ways when he takes on “The Rebel Heart” Johnny Gargano. All three NXT titles are on the line: Asuka defends the NXT Women’s Championship against Ember Moon, and The Authors of Pain defend the NXT Tag Team Championships against SAnitY’s Killian Dain and Alexander Wolfe. And in the main event, Bobby Roode will defend his NXT Championship against Drew McIntyre, but Roderick Strong could potentially be added to the bout later tonight if he defeats McIntyre in a singles bout. Do not miss this huge event from Brooklyn this Saturday on WWE Network!

Backstage, Bobby Roode sits on a lavish couch with the NXT Championship resting on his lap as NXT Backstage Interviewer Christy St. Cloud enters the room and wants to know Roode’s opinion on the upcoming main event match. “Well, Christy, because Regal decided that I couldn’t pull rank by being the NXT Champion and choosing my opponent, I am just going to sit back here and carefully dissect this match. If Roderick Strong gets added to my TakeOver match, that’s fine. I’ve already beat him and I’ll beat him again. No matter who wins tonight, I will head into the Barclays Center, which is sold-out because of me, and I will walk out as the always Glorious NXT Champion.” finished Roode before dismissing St. Cloud from his executive room.

RODERICK STRONG DEF. DREW MCINTYRE – In this epic match, Roderick Strong’s NXT TakeOver future was in jeopardy. Since his return to WWE NXT, Drew McIntyre had gone undefeated against his fellow NXT competitors. The stakes were high throughout the contest, and both Strong and McIntyre knew it. The two fought valiantly in this potential match of the year contender. In the end, Strong ducked out of the way from McIntyre’s Claymore kick and then finished the match with two End of Heartache’s, advancing to the NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn III main event!

With tears in his eyes, Strong remained on his knees in the middle of the ring as the NXT Universe are delightfully happy with the result of the contest. Roderick struggles to stand back up due to the nature of the bout, but he does so to a standing ovation from the Full Sail Faithful. Strong clutches his ribs as the NXT Champion Bobby Roode interrupts the celebration and begins to cockily slow clap from the top of the ramp. The stage is set for Saturday. In the ring, Roderick Strong stands tall. Outside the ring, Drew McIntyre is visibly pissed off with both of his rivals. On top of the ramp, Bobby Roode holds the NXT Championship over his shoulder. This Saturday, in Brooklyn, these three men go to war.

August 19th, 2017 | Barclays Center in Brooklyn, NY | only on WWE Network

Drew McIntyre has decimated every opponent thrown his way, and at TakeOver: Brooklyn III, the Scottish Superstar will finally get what he’s been in search of: The opportunity to challenge NXT Champion Bobby Roode. McIntyre has maintained a laser focus on NXT’s top prize since he signed with the brand in April. He earned the title match the old-fashion way, piling up one win after another. With a smash-mouth style, he conquered the likes of Oney Lorcan, Andrade Almas and Killian Dain. McIntyre’s win over the previously undefeated Beast of Belfast secured an opportunity to face Roode. However, he will have to share the spotlight of being challenger with the ever valiant Roderick Strong, who scratched and clawed his way to earn another shot at arch-rival Bobby Roode's NXT Championship. Don’t expect The Glorious One to be intimidated. The resourceful and calculating veteran champion has consistently found ways to keep hold of the NXT Title against the stiffest competition.

Will Drew McIntyre complete his mission in Brooklyn? Will Roderick Strong finally be able to climb on top of the NXT mountain? Or will The Glorious One continue his era atop NXT?

NXT Women’s Champion Asuka is not only faced by a worthy challenger at NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn III, but one that could spell the end of her historic title reign and undefeated streak. On Saturday, Aug. 19, at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center, Ember Moon will challenge The Empress of Tomorrow for the NXT Women’s Title in a highly anticipated rematch. It’s hard to bet against Asuka, who has thwarted every opponent thrown her way since arriving in NXT in 2015. However, there is one competitor who had her on the brink of defeat during their first encounter at TakeOver: Orlando in April. The supremely talented Moon was mere moments away from nailing Asuka with her devastating Eclipse finisher during the match, only for the champion to shove the referee into the ropes and claim victory once again. The debate continues as to whether Asuka, perhaps fearful that getting hit with Moon’s Eclipse would spell the end of her historic title reign, pushed the referee on purpose. Either way, Moon will get another opportunity to try to hit her acclaimed Eclipse finishing move and end the Empress’ title reign. Moon has since returned with a vengeance, looking more determined than ever to capture the NXT Women’s Championship. As for the titleholder, she went on a brief hiatus following her epic title defense against Nikki Cross in a vicious Last Woman Standing Match. The champion made it clear that she wasn’t going to return until a challenger worthy of her time stepped up.

That challenger has since come forward, and her name is Ember Moon. Can Moon do what no other woman has been able to and take the title away from Asuka? Or will the NXT Women’s Champion continue her unprecedented title reign?

The Authors of Pain will face their craziest challengers yet when they put their NXT Tag Team Championship on the line against SAnitY’s Killian Dain & Alexander Wolfe at TakeOver: Brooklyn III. Led by WWE Hall of Famer manager Paul Ellering, Akam & Rezar have paved a path of destruction through NXT’s tag team division, laying to waste esteemed tandems such as #DIY and The Revival in the process. However, they have yet to face opponents like Dain & Wolfe, who can not only rival their size, but their love for inflicting pain. Since arriving on the scene at NXT, SAnitY has targeted multiple Superstars, from Tye Dillinger to Drew McIntyre. Each time, the Eric Young-led faction used their strength in numbers to wreak havoc. SAnitY turned their attention toward the NXT Tag Team Champions on the July 12 episode of NXT when they menacingly stood on stage after Akam & Rezar’s successful title defense as pages from a book dropped from the sky. Two weeks later, after disposing of Akam & Rezar’s opponents, the chaos-seeking tandem of Dain & Wolfe threw down with the titleholders in the middle of the ring. Their brief brawl provided a glimpse of the bedlam that is sure to ensue when these tag teams collide in Brooklyn.

See who walks out of the Barclays Center as the NXT Tag Team Champions when The Authors of Pain battle SAnitY on Saturday, Aug. 19, at 8ET/5 PT at NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn III, streaming live on the award-winning WWE Network.

Knockout blows will not be in short supply when Aleister Black, still undefeated inside the yellow ropes, takes on the increasingly volatile Hideo Itami at TakeOver: Brooklyn III. It hasn’t taken much to provoke Itami’s temper recently. For weeks, the Japanese Superstar has decried his station and treatment in NXT. His demeanor has turned bitter and his actions unpredictable, such as his post-match attack against onetime ally Kassius Ohno. If it’s respect that he wants, Itami need not look any further than his showdown against Black in Brooklyn. Itami is in search of a big win that will catapult him back into the main-event picture, and a victory against the tatted terror — who has decimated everybody he has faced so far — might just accomplish that. Black does not seem particularly interested in starting beefs, but he might be all too happy to settle them. The pencak silat master has vanquished mighty competition since making his NXT debut. Black, however, has yet to face a Superstar with the credentials of Itami, making TakeOver’s battle of elite strikers even more compelling.

Can Black make the jaw-jacking Itami “Fade to Black,” or will Itami turn out Black’s lights with his unstoppable Go-To-Sleep?

The Rebel Heart of Johnny Gargano will beat a little faster when he makes his NXT TakeOver singles debut. The past few months have had a whirlwind of emotions for Gargano, especially since he was brutally assaulted by his former best friend Tommaso Ciampa at the conclusion of NXT TakeOver: Chicago. Johnny Gargano is ready to use this opportunity showcase the birth of "Johnny Wrestling", the no-nonsense competitor inside the ring, a way of life he has to master by the time he encounters the turncoat Ciampa in the ring in the future. Meanwhile, Andrade "Cien" Almas' momentum has completely turned itself around after Zelina Vega took control of his career to lead him to this tranquilo state. Zelina decided that Almas needs a challenge to test himself ahead of the much-anticipated NXT Series debuting this upcoming Wednesday.

Will Johnny Wrestling shine through and lead Gargano to a victory, or will Zelina Vega's guidance allow Andrade "Cien" Almas to continue on his path of greatness?

NXT returns to the Barclays Center for its biggest event of the summer, TakeOver: Brooklyn III, on Saturday, Aug. 19, at 8 ET/5 PT. The event will stream live, exclusively on the award-winning WWE Network.
