Wwf 1994 - I Lovvee Youuuu!

Recommended Posts

1994 had been a year of EXTREME change in Professional Wrestling.

2dP3NYm.jpg

When Hulk Hogan left the World Wrestling Federation earlier in the year many people assumed he'd show up in World Championship Wrestling. Ted Turner's money wasn't enough for Hogan which lead to him partnering up with Rupert Murdoch to buy NWA Eastern Championship Wrestling, now Extreme Championship Wrestling. To compensate for their failure to sign Hulk Hogan to a WCW contract, booker Eric Bischoff inked a deal with the Ultimate Warrior. Nearly overnight, WWF's percieved and calcuable lead in the industry had diminshed.

Things always get worse before they get better.

The exodus of the mega stars produced during the 1980s gave way for a "New Generation." Bret "The Hitman" Hart who was seen as a homegrown WWF Superstar had become the marquee draw for the company enjoying a lengthy run as the WWF Champion. While embroiled in a personal battle with his younger brother Owen Hart, Bret sustained a career ending injury that forced his early retirement. The WWF was known for having a "babyface" champion throughout the majority of their history so it came as a huge shock when Owen Hart began his reign as World Wrestling Federation Heavyweight Champion.

Pat Patterson who had been crowned the first ever World Wrestling Federation Intercontinental Champion in 1980 was the silent creative genius for Vince McMahon. The most memorable finishes of matches and the biggest drawing storylines had all come from his experience, knowledge, and wisdom. After a career that had spanned 36 years, Patterson decided it was time to move back home to Canada and leave the buisness he loved behind. Patterson did not leave alone, his longtime partner in life left to join him.

"I LOVVEE YOUUUU!"

Bruce Prichard often times played odd man out in the creative trio of the World Wrestling Federation but with the retirement of Patterson, it was now his time to make a more prominent contribution. His genius plan?

A box of gimmicks.

Inside the ring the young tag team of The Hardy Boyz stood waiting for the biggest opportunity of their careers. Once the match had began, Jim Neidhart used his power advantage to take early control of the match. Outside the ring, Owen Hart taunted the fans who still to this day chanted the name of his elder brother, Bret "The Hitman" Hart to him. Being fed up and aggravated by the crowds taunting, Owen Hart climbed back onto the apron and tagged into the match. Jeff Hardy blocked a punch by Owen Hart and nailed the WWF Champion with a spinning kick that knocked him off balance. Jeff Hardy sprinted towards Owen Hart attempting a clothesline but the champion ducked. As Jeff Hardy came back off the ropes towards Owen Hart he was met with a boot to the gut. Jeff Hardy caught the kick attempt by Owen Hart but it wouldn't end well for the youngster. Owen Hart kicked Jeff Hardy in the back of the head with an enzuigiri that nearly knocked him out. Once Howard Finkle had made the introduction for the member of the Million Dollar Corporation, he then announced the entrance of "Made in the USA" Lex Luger. The crowd went berserk for the fan favorite as he ran towards the ring sliding in under the bottom rope. Bam Bam Bigelow smashed his boot down on Lex Luger and then proceeded to stomp away at him. Lex Luger fought through the pain making it up to his feet and standing nearly nose to nose with his opponent. Bam Bam Bigelow went for a wild haymaker that Lex Luger blocked. Bigelow staggered backwards from the punches rocking him from Lex Luger. Bigelow stood dazed near the ropes as Lex Luger sprinted across the ring gaining momentum and crashing into his opponent with a flying forearm shot. Bigelow fell through the ropes and to the outside of the ring as the referee began the mandatory ten count. The referee admonished the unwelcome party then turned his attention back to Bigelow in the ring. With the referee's attention on Bigelow in the ring, Tatanka stomped away at Lex Luger before picking him up and delivering his patented samoan drop called The End of the Trail. "Let me <strong>introduuuuce</strong> to you, <em>my guest</em>, The <em>Heaaaart Breaaak Kiiid</em> Shawn Michaels." "Does that man have <strong>LOVVEE</strong> in his heart, heartbeak kid?"</p><p> </p><p> Shawn Michaels slightly shook his head as if to say no when a cocky smile contorted his facial expression. The Black Phantom nailed a couple elbows to his opponents ribs then backed him towards the ropes to shoot him off. 1-2-3 Kid ducked a clothes by his opponent then sprinted off the ropes once more and nailed him with a martial arts spin kick. The Black Phantom fell to the mat and rolled to the outside as the referee began his count. 1-2-3 Kid jumped directly over the top rope to the outside landing on The Black Phantom with a body splash much to the fans delight. The wild man Afa led out the WWF World Tag Team Champions Samu and Fatu, The Headshrinkers as Howard Finkle made the introductions. The second generation stars looked crazed as they stalked to the ring chanting in an indistinguishable language. Once inside the ring Samu and Fatu chased Timothy Well and Steven Dunn to the arena floor. The referee called for the bell as the match began.</p><p> </p><p> Steve Dunn started off against Samu and was quickly over matched in the power department. Dunn relied on his speed and managed some decent offense against his larger opponent. A couple of quick illegal double team tactics had Well Dunn in control of the match when Fatu made the blind tag.
