[HYPE] Shifting Sands

Recommended Posts

9uFXb5r.png

All that appears solid and substantial is built on the shifting sands of ceaseless transformation and unfortunately, the wrestling industry is no different. After the WWE fought off the challenge of WCW and ECW, things became a little stale but the sands of time never stay the same for too long and it seems there are some new challengers brewing. What will you do? Fight off the new challenge? Help the challengers dethrone thy king? Or simply watch as the sands continue to shift in TEW 2016?

More information coming soon...

Oh hell yeah! I've been waiting for this for so long. (obviously since I PMed you like a month ago and didn't get a response...but I ain't mad <img alt=":p" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/tongue.png.ceb643b2956793497cef30b0e944be28.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" />) Just the Beta looked amazing for TEW 13 so I can only imagine how good it's going to be once complete and on TEW 16.

I can confirm it'll be a real word modification set in January, 2006. I'm just putting the finishing touches on the International Wrestling Association and then I'll be ready to begin showing (bi)monthly previews of the modifications progress again, just like I was doing for TEW2013. I can't wait to see what everyone thinks of what I've secretly been doing to the modification behind the scenes.

I'd say that making it a Christmas present is probably out of reach but I'll try my hardest to release it in the first quarter of 2018. For those of you who are too impatient to see what has changed since the last preview I posted however, another preview will be posted in the next couple of weeks.</p>

Okay, so as promised here is the first preview of Shifting Sands for TEW2016:

Download Links: Database Preview & Picture Pack Preview

IMPORTANT: I can't stress this enough as I know some people were confused when I did this with Territory Daze, the links provided are simply a preview, it is not the finished article.

I started by completing the "big three" of World Wrestling Entertainment (including their developmental territories), Ring of Honor and Total Nonstop Action Wrestling, so they've all been completed. After that, I began working on rosters in alphabetical order so in today's preview, the rosters include All Japan Pro Wrestling, All Star Wrestling, Asistencia Asesoría y Administración, Border City Wrestling, British Championship Wrestling, CHIKARA Pro, Combat Zone Wrestling, Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre, DDT Pro-Wrestling, Dragon Gate, Frontier Wrestling Alliance, Full Impact Pro, GBG Wrestling, German Stampede Wrestling, International Pro Wrestling: UK and the International Wrestling Association, with the amount of workers now standing at 1,047. Apart from that, I've just been filling in the gaps and ensuring everything is updated from TEW2013, ready for TEW2016. It may sound/look like I've still got a lot to do (and in a lot of respects, I have) but once rosters are put together, I can add everything else (titles, TV shows, locations etcetera) pretty quickly, as I proved with Territory Daze. And rosters will gradually become easier to do as you'll find a lot of workers work for more than one promotion so, for example, a lot of Pro Wrestling Guerrilla will be done because many of their workers also worked for ROH, CHIKARA or CZW.

As usual, I've made the modification playable (although it obviously won't run perfectly as it's not finished) so you can look at rosters and such like in-game, so if you'd like to give everything a look over and give me some feedback, it would be very much appreciated. :)

Do you plan to add a lot of yet to debut/indy guys who aren't under contract at the time to the mod as well for long term playability? 1047 is already a nice chunk of guys to be honest but for long term games, there were a lot of people who debuted between then and now even. Just wondering how you're handling them.

As I did for Territory Daze, I will add as many people as I can think of off the top of my head and then allow the GDS community to help me fill in any gaps and propose people who they'd like to see added.</p>

Okay, so I noticed someone very important missing. I get that Jeff Hardy kind of had a brief hiatus in January 2006, but why would he not be a free agent in game? I also have imported a bunch of my own future workers so I can fill in some missing gaps, but missing Jeff Hardy is a small blow to an otherwise fantastic mod. Thank you for your hard work so far and keep it up!

This mod is great, and looks so much better than my own 06 mod. I still have to learn a lot. :D

Yeah, I noticed there was another 2006 modification released since I started mine for TEW2013. I haven't actually looked at it in all honesty so I couldn't possibly comment whether it's good or not, but I'm sure you're just being humble. xD I don't really want to look at yours until I'm finished with mine, but as soon as I'm done, I'll be sure to give it a whirl.

Again, what I linked is only a preview so it's FAR from finished; I ensure you Jeff Hardy will be in the modification by the time it's released. :)

  • 2 weeks later...
Okay, so America's International Wrestling Cartel and Canada's International Wrestling Syndicate are now complete, in terms of rosters. Irish Whip Wrestling is my next port of call, although I'm thinking of taking a week of or so just to get into Football Manager 2018 for a bit. I haven't really decided yet, but I may post another preview either after I've completed Irish Whip Wrestling or after I finish IWA Mid-South. Everything is going as planned more or less and although there is still a lot of work to be done, the modification is already looking very enjoyable, even if I do say so myself. xD Last but not least, thank you to everyone who has contributed feedback thus far (including those of you who private messaged me) as it's very much appreciated.

I don't think I've been more excited for a mod in quite awhile other than the old school ones. I downloaded the Beta to have a look and it made me even more excited. Despite not being a fan of this time period when it was happening, I look back on it now and realize the sheer amount of things that could have happened in this time period and didn't. There isn't a lot to say about the mod itself at this point. As you said, it's a beta but you've done an amazing job so far and I feel like this era is in good hands.
