[RELEASE] 2006 — Times Of Infamy RW mod

MOD INFO:

2006 — Times Of Infamy is a real world mod I've created from scratch for TEW2016. It is set in January 2006, in a time where WWE is yet to go PG, CMLL is the proverbial house on fire and NOAH is in the last days of it's golden days. TNA has been on national television for some months now following their deal with Spike TV. Shimmer has held their first two shows at the end of 2005, in the hopes of providing quality women's wrestling. ROH is championed by none other than Bryan Danielson. In WWE, John Cena and Batista are on their first world reigns, respectively. NOAH has been trying to push Rikio Takeshi to replace Kobashi Kenta and Misawa Mitsuharu, though their brightest young talent reside in the junior division with KENTA and Marufuji Naomichi. NJPW have Nakamura Shinsuke and Tanahashi Hiroshi to guide them to a new era.

...As WWE, are you able to succesfully hold on to two self-sufficient brands?

...As TNA, are you able to become the powerhouse the national television deal enables you to be?

...As ROH, are you able to grow beyond a 'super indy'?

...As AAA, who can step up to dethrone the hype train of CMLL's Místico?

...As CMLL, can you hold on to the top spot?

...As AJPW, can you make the masses invest in Japanese sports entertainment?

...As NOAH, can you push young hungry wrestlers to replace the deteriorating old guard?

...As NJPW, can you turn around years of Inoki booking to become a giant of puroresu?

Eric Bischoff, Shane McMahon, and a few others have their ages messed up. Also, some people (Matt Hardy) have 100 sex appeal.

Thanks. :) I've fixed Bischoff's and Shane's ages for now. Matt Hardy apparently had Jeff Hardy's stats, so that's been fixed. If anyone finds more errors, please do report them. I'm definitely going to work on this in the future. My next priorities would be of course error fixing and adding the remaining missing active wrestler pictures. Then hopefully add some more unemployed wrestlers all-around the three playable game areas (US, Mexico, Japan).

<p>I'm pretty sure by this point New Japan had been sold to Yuke's so Inoki Jr. wasn't running them(I might be wrong though, can't remember for certain if the sellout was in November 2005 or November 2006).</p><p> </p><p>

Also, why isn't Tanahashi a perfect 100 in everything? <img alt=":p" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/tongue.png.ceb643b2956793497cef30b0e944be28.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p>

As for Tanahashi, I knew he was one whose stats would get a thorough once over from puro fans. When I originally added him to the data, his stats were the slightest bit lower, but I think Tanahashi is fairly rated at the moment.</p>

Just had a look at the mod, and it looks promising so far. Haven't booked a show yet but I think a lot of the stats are balanced. On the topic of Orton, say what you will about his ring work, but I think he definitely deserves a bump in his entertainment skills. Then again, it's all up to interpretation. Thanks for putting the mod out nonetheless!

<p>I think you went a little bit too far balancing the indy darlings. I get that you think it's good to have people improve over time, but if the stats are too low to begin with it's pretty unrepresentative of wrestling at the time. Ring of Honor was full of some of the best talent in the world, and were putting on killer shows that still are talked about to this day. It's okay to have really good wrestlers on the indies. </p><p> </p><p>

Here's a list of wrestlers that I think could be buffed more...</p><p> </p><p>

Bryan Danielson could have his psych bumped up a lot to maybe like high C+ or low B-. Also, he was definitely a vanilla midget at the time, and only truly got his charisma over in the WWE like 6 years later. I think his charisma could be nerfed. </p><p> </p><p>

Samoa Joe was an amazing talent. Pysch, entertainment, brawling, mat skills could all be buffed a little. Also his face rating could use some tweaking upwards. </p><p> </p><p>

Why does Low Ki suck so much? The dude was so unique and vastly ahead of his time. He was one of the best workers in the world. </p><p> </p><p>

Christopher Daniels' stats are fair, but his entertainment skills are so low. He definitely has a lot of charisma. </p><p> </p><p>

Alex Shelley's stats are criminally bad. </p><p> </p><p>

Jeff Hardy's stats are just terrible. </p><p> </p><p>

Raven is legitimately one of the best minds in the business. I think his psych could be raised a lot. </p><p> </p><p>

AJ Styles was literally one of the best workers in the world at this time. </p><p> </p><p>

Why are the Dudley Boyz enhancement talents with E- popularity? My head exploded when I saw that. </p><p> </p><p>

I don't know. I know you clearly put a lot of work into this, but the balance is so whack. A ton of the workers in this mod feel the same. It's like that episode of The Simpsons where Homer becomes morbidly obese and learns that he could press Y all day. A ton of workers just have a wall of yellow Cs for their profile. I don't know if it's due to an unfamiliarity with the wrestlers, or what, but variety is the spice of life, man.</p><p> </p><p>

That said, there are some things that I like. I think the lack of companies and, from what I've seen, relationships, helps the mod. I don't know if it'll lead to a bunch of people being unemployed, but that may lead to the AI not being so weird. The mod definitely seems focused so far. The WWE seems to be working pretty well, but the indy balance is just way off.</p>

I've tried to balance the stats worldwide, every promotion and to the game's mechanics. There are plenty of good and great workers in the mod in every playable game area (US, Japan, Mexico). I started creating this mod for my own amusement since I wanted to be fair and balanced throughout, with the goal of avoiding the overrating of prospects while realistically judging everyone to fit the game. Then again, if you think Low Ki was one of the best wrestlers in the world in 2006, we must rate good wrestling vastly differently.</p><p> </p><p> For the next release I'm adding Pro Wrestling ZERO1-MAX. I still have some people to add in their roster, but once I'm done watching and updating them, it's time for the 0.07 release. That update will bring Japan to a similar shape Mexico is in now.</p>

Just downloaded the mod the pictures look amazing and the bio of the wrestlers is cool to read just two little things, Shane McMahon birthday is set for December 1985 when it is January 1970 and you got Chris Benoit set as selfish and a very negative influence but what I have read about him was that he was liked backstage by a lot of the staff and wrestlers ( I know it is hard to make Chris Benoit on this game knowing what he did)

Apparently he could be a bit of a bully, at least to the younger wrestlers. I made slight adjustments to his persona, but not much, as I don't think there is much room for improvement for him.</p>

Looking nice so far Snoop. Let me know if you need a hand!

Noticed that some folks aren't assigned to brands in the WWE:

Raw - Lawler, Ross, Styles, Coachman, Stacy Keibler, Todd Grisham

SD - Josh Matthews, Melina, Michael Cole, Tazz

You may want to consider adding Vince and/or Shane to Raw as well, as they were featured heavily on Raw throughout 06.

Mickie James shouldn't be a heel yet either. They were definitely hinting at it, but she didn't turn heel until post-NYR (unless she's set as a heel for AI purposes). Her gimmick should probably be a Psycho too.

Looks like Hardcore Holly is a positive influence backstage. Given his reputation, I'd reverse that.

Doesn't look like God's in the mod. He should debut in April :p

I'll play around with this a bit to see if anything else jumps out for me.

Except for Mickie, she started turning like 3 weeks later. It's definitely partly with the AI in mind as the default Trish vs. Mickie feud then makes absolutely no sense, but also so that the player doesn't have to be turn her right away and get penalised for it. Also got tired of turning her all the times I've played WWE saves with the mod <img alt=":p" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/tongue.png.ceb643b2956793497cef30b0e944be28.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /> I did change her gimmick to Bunny Boiler (in the crazy category).</p><p> </p><p> Anyway, I've had some time to work again on this after the holidays. Planning on three new promotions to be added: Combat Zone Wrestling (CZW), Internacional Wrestling Revolución Grupo (IWRG) in Mexico and Big Mouth Loud (BML) in Japan. BML is already finished, but IWRG & CZW are still missing some people from the roster so it's not quite ready yet. Excited to reach the 1K mark in workers though (modders will know!), with the current worker count standing at 1014.</p>
