Lassana Makutsi vs. El Mitico Jr.

After a month of failed chances, Makutsi was finally able to prove himself a worthy opponent to Mitico. He was on fire in this one and put on an excellent performance nearly from start to finish. Mitico did as well, and this match was an absolute barn-burner to kick off Reach For The Sky. Makutsi's excellent, and often unheralded, brawling ability was on full display here and really seemed to catch Mitico by surprise. Mitico's no slouch as a brawler himself, but Makutsi was on a completely different level. As good as Makutsi was though, Mitico was just a bit better overall on this night, and won this one with his Northern Lights Suplex, a move nearly as picturesque as it's namesake, in 21:44.

Winner: El Mitico Jr.

Our first title match of the evening, and it was obvious before the bell even rang that it was going to have a tough time following the opener. It did, but it was still a solid match on its own account. Masked Stranger is a pretty good wrestler, though a tad prone to cheating and fighting dirty, but he was no match for American Elemental II in this one. Stranger tried a handful of tights, but Elemental kicked out anyway. He took the top turnbuckle pad off to expose the steel, but Elemental reversed his Irish Whip attempt and Stranger took the hit instead. He tried a foot on the middle rope for leverage, but the referee put a stop to that too. Finally, Elemental put the finishing touches on this one, when Stranger couldn't cheat his way out of an American Earth Breaker (Irish Curse Backbreaker.)

©Felipe Caballero vs. El Jaguar

Before Referee Francis Long could call for the opening bell, El Jaguar asked for a mic. He "apologizes" to Caballero for the sneak attack a few weeks back and says he wants to let the past stay in the past, and again states his desire to just have a "friendly" match for the title. Caballero cautiously agrees and sticks his hand out for a shake. El Jaguar says "friends don't shake, they hug." Caballero rolls his eyes, but plays along and as the 2 men get nearly close enough to hug, Jaguar suddenly kicks Caballero directly in the crotch. Long shoves Jaguar back, but since the bell hadn't rung, his hands were tied. Jagaur starts to attack the now downed Caballero as Long reluctantly calls for the bell. The El Jaguar assault gave him a distinct advantage and he dominated the first 10 minutes of this match. Surprisingly, he never attempted a pin during this stretch, a mistake he surely regretted when Caballero rolled him up out of nowhere, and using a handful of tights, scored the pin to retain his title.

Masked Cougar vs. Marvel Malloy vs. Amazing Fire Fly vs. Hurakan vs. Kamikaze vs. American Eagle II

The first annual Golden Ticket Ladder Match certainly didn't disappoint! With a championship opportunity on the line, all 6 competitors pushed themselves to the limit, with each man putting his body, and therefore his livelihood, on the line multiple times. After a Shooting Star Press from the top rope to the outside takes out everyone else, an exhausted and battered Amazing Fire Fly gets back into the ring and slowly starts up the ladder. As he's nearing the top Marvel Malloy climbs out of the pile of bodies at ringside, pulls him off the ladder and hits the Marvel Breaker (Code Breaker.) His execution was lacking though and Fire Fly simply stumbled back into the ropes instead of going down. Malloy quickly gets to his feet and clotheslines Fire Fly out of the ring before starting back up the ladder. He doesn't realize though that Fire Fly landed on his feet outside the ring. As Malloy was nearing the top, Fire Fly ran around the ring, hopped on the apron and did a springboard from the apron, landing on the ladder across from Malloy. Before Malloy could really react, Fire Fly slammed his head into the top of the ladder and hopped across him connecting with a Sunset Flip Powerbomb off the ladder. Amazingly, Fire Fly nearly landed on his feet, enabling him to quickly climb the ladder and retrieve the Golden Ticket for the win and guaranteed title shot.

Despite his cocky attitude, California Love Machine didn't really live up to his own hype in this one. Avatar wins a fairly pedestrian match here with the All American Slam (Angle Slam) to retain his championship.

Akima Brave vs. Bulldozer Brandon Smith

These two veterans, both on the wrong side of 35, were out to prove to anyone who doubted them that they were far from done in the ring, and they definitely delivered! They really brought out the best in each other and to say they were evenly matched would be a vast understatement. Both men have seen every trick in the book during their long careers and as a result neither man could get a leg up. After a hard-hitting contest that had the crowd on its feet many times throughout, this match ended in a draw as the time limit expired at 30 minutes.

©Double Feature vs. The Ring Generals

These 4 wasted little time going right after each other and what followed could only be described with one word, BRUTAL! Double Feature was obviously out for revenge, but The Ring Generals seemed determined to end the careers of Remus and Spade. Mere moments into the brawl, Statler busted Remus open with a ear-splitting chair shot to the skull. Spade also wore the crimson mask following a sickening blow from the ring bell at the hands of Waldorf. Instead of going for the pin on their bloodied opponents, the Ring Generals tossed them over the top rope to the outside. Once they joined Double Feature at ringside, Waldorf and Statler took the ring steps apart on one side of the ring and delivered a spinebuster to Spade on the bottom half. Next, they set their sights on the already injured leg of Remus, which "someone" took out with a crowbar backstage a few weeks back. Again they took the steel steps apart on one side of the ring, but instead of a spinebuster, they tried to crush Remus' leg between the two halves. They drooped Remus' leg across the bottom half and Statler held it down. Then, Waldorf took the top half of the steps, lifted them high above his head, and was about to drop them on the leg. Remus managed to wiggle his leg free though, kick away Statler and roll out of the way just in time to dodge the falling steps before they could potentially cripple him. Remus then hit a low blow on Waldorf to turn the match in his team's favor.

As Spade was trying to recover on the other side of the ringside area, Remus began to take it to Waldorf and Statler using anything that wasn't nailed down. He used steel chairs, the ring bell, the top half of the steel steps, a kendo stick he found under the ring, a trashcan, and even a gold chain wrapped around his fist that he borrowed from a particularly ostentatious fan in the first row. By this point Spade was able to rejoin the match, although with a near-constant grimace on his face. However, The Ring Generals aren't one of the most well-respected tag teams in the business for nothing, and it didn't take long until they were in control again.

This time with Remus downed at ringside, Waldorf and Statler looked to put the finishing touches on this one by taking out Spade in the ring. Waldorf laid a chair down near the corner and climbed backwards up to the middle turnbuckle, while Statler drug a dazed Spade towards the corner. As Statler began to set Spade up in the piledriver position, their intentions became obvious, they were going for a spike piledriver onto the steel chair. However, just as Waldorf was about to jump from the middle rope, Remus made the save, attacking Statler from behind. Spade fell to the mat as Statler and Remus' brawl spilled back outside. Then Waldorf climbs down, picks Spade up and goes for the piledriver onto the chair by himself. Spade reverses it though and back body drops Waldorf onto the steel chair. Waldorf somehow pops right back up, but as he turns around, he's immediately hit with the Supreme Stunner (RKO) out of nowhere onto the steel chair. Spade makes the cover and gets the 3 count sealing the victory for his team.

©Ernest Youngman vs. Frantic Ali

Frantic Ali was like a man possessed to start this match. Relentlessly attacking Youngman with heavy strikes and giving him little chance to catch a breath before the attacks continued. Ali would have liked nothing more than to keep this one a brawl all throughout too, but despite being an excellent striker himself, Youngman had other plans. Once Youngman was able to turn this into more of a technical match Ali never stood a chance, and he fell to The Hit (Running Knee) at 14:18.

Colossus comes out first, but Scythe no shows. Colossus storms towards the back to look for him, but the lights go out before he gets to the curtain. When they come back on Scythe is standing over a toppled Colossus in the ring. The referee starts the match and Scythe picks Colossus up and toys with him for a while, before finishing him off with a massive chokeslam for the 3 count to retain the Tri-State title. Once again, Colossus never gets a fair chance to get his hands on Scythe.

CZCW Championship - Ladder Match

©Darryl Devine vs. Greg Gauge

As this match began, Gauge once again caught Devine off guard when he offered up a handshake. This time, suspecting Gauge was just playing mind games, Devine slapped his hand away and told him to "cut the crap and fight." A sly smile from Gauge confirmed Devine's suspicions and the match was underway.

The two men brawl for a bit and the action makes its way outside and towards the ladder set up at ringside. Gauge is the first to make use of the ladder as he knocks it over onto a downed Devine. Gauge then puts the ladder in the ring and as he tries to set it up Devine comes back in and they brawl some more. Gauge gets the upper hand and hits a few suplexes to break up the "street fighting" and inject a bit more technique. Gauge controls the action for a bit, but Devine makes a nice run and we get a bit more mat wrestling than you would normally see in a ladder match as the 2 men show off their technical prowess.

We're roughly 15 minutes in when Devine hits the Devine Dream Drop (Pedigree) and the first real attempt at the title hanging high above the ring is made. Devine makes the slow climb and actually manages to get a hand on his title, but Gauge saves his championship opportunity with some well-timed forearm blows to the lower back. With Devine safely back on the mat, Gauge goes on the attack, focusing on the lower back of Devine. He works Devine over for several minutes before locking in the Proton Lock (Sharpshooter,) despite the fact that he can't win the match with it. After what had to seem like an eternity for Devine, he was finally able to pull himself over and under the bottom rope forcing Gauge to break the hold as Devine slipped to the arena floor.

With Devine out, Gauge heads for the ladder, and with it already set up and Devine outside, it seemed Gauge would take the title with ease. Like Devine, Gauge was also able to get a hand on the belt, but also like Devine, Gauge's attempt would be thwarted. Devine, obviously in excruciating pain from the long-held Proton Lock, managed to save his title as he burst into the ring sporting a steel chair he had taken from under the ring and whacked Gauge across the upper back, just before he crumpled to the canvas, oddly in sync with Gauge's collapse from the ladder. Despite the obvious pain, and almost without hesitation, both men crawled towards opposing sides of the ladder and began the arduous climb to the top. They made it to the summit simultaneously and began to trade stiff forearm shots. After a particularly hard shot had Gauge reeling, Devine quickly grabbed hold of the title and tried to wrestle it free. He almost had it too, until the opportunistic Gauge viciously poked him in the eye. Luckily for Devine though, he had the wherewithal to grab at the title a second time as he was falling, and he crashed to the mat with the title clutched firmly against his chest. As Devine's music hit, Gauge could only look up in disbelief at the now vacant ring that once held the title. Devine retains at 27:31.

I really like what your doing with this one here. I really like the style of your writing and instantly became hooked after the first show. I'm just now catching up because I just recently joined and took my first attempt at this, much like yourself.

I said this in a previous dynasty that I liked, about how I'm not much of a C-Verse type of guy. After reading some good diaries such as this one, I'm beginning to gain a lot of interest.

One thing I should point out that I really enjoy, is your presentation on how you set up matches. Those write ups are neat! It's too bad I didn't check this out before the big show. I'm following now and I hope you keep up the good work!

Thanks for the kind words Kidd! I've been following your diary as well and it's a really good read. I haven't had a chance to join in on the predictions yet since I've been a few days behind on my own diary, but I definitely intend to. As someone who started watching wrestling in 1987, the era you're currently covering really hits home for me!

Next Show: CZCW Coast To Coast

YFYc5OT.jpg

For the first time in CZCW history, every champion retained their title at a PPV event, highlighted by Darryl Devine retaining his CZCW Championship in a ladder match against Greg Gauge. However, it was reported over the weekend that Gauge intends to demand a rematch with Devine, citing a "lack of class" as it relates to ladder matches.

Apparently The Ring Generals didn't get enough of a beating at the hands of Double Feature in their brutal Street Fight at Reach For The Sky, so they've asked for another shot. Despite being under no obligation to do so, Double Feature accepted the challenge. They did set one condition though. If The Ring Generals don't win, they will never receive another title match as long as Double Feature holds the gold.

CZCW Television Champion Felipe Caballero will be ringside when 15 men go at it in an over the top rope battle royal to determine the # 1 contender to his title at Hardcore Halloween.

With a shot against CZCW Xtreme Champion Jack Avatar at Hardcore Halloween up for grabs, Xavi Ferrera faces La Gran Uva and Guerrero Muerto in a Triple Threat Match.

In another Triple Threat Match, Teddy Powell, Masked Patriot, and Air Attack Weasel go head to head to head, with the winner going on to face American Elemental II for the CZCW Pacific Championship at Hardcore Halloween.

Finally, the odd, yet surprisingly fluid team of Marvel Malloy and Lassana Makutsi face CZCW American Champion Ernest Youngman and the flashy, high-flyer Kamikaze.

<p>Just wanted to let anyone who's been reading this diary know, that I fully intend to continue it at some point in the near future. However, my Mom is very ill right now and is currently on life support in the Critical Care Unit of the hospital. </p><p> </p><p>

Writing this dynasty has been a pleasant distraction throughout her illness, but it's just a bit too time-consuming for me at the moment with everything that's going on. Hopefully anyone who's been following will be able to pick up where they left off whenever I get the chance to get this thing going again. I know this seems kind of silly to even be bothering to post, but I didn't want to leave any potential readers in the dark. I know I've been annoyed in the past when a diary just randomly stopped being updated with no info from the writer.</p>

I really wish the best for you and your mom.</p>

I know that if I was in that situation, I would put my diary on hold as well. I'm very sorry to hear about what's going on man and I hope the best for both you and your mom.</p>
