UFC 224 Announcement!

CFt0xHM.png

J1lO18s.png

Interim Light Heavyweight Championship bout set for UFC 224; second title bout announced

After announcing that UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Daniel Cormier is set to challenge Stipe Miocic at UFC 226 for the UFC Heavyweight Championship, the UFC announced plans to determine a Interim Light Heavyweight Champion for the UFC 224 event in Rio de Janeiro.

The main event of the pay-per-view event will showcase Alexander "The Mauler" Gustafsson (#1) versus Brazil's own Mauricio "Shogun" Rua (#6). Gustafsson is coming off a win against Glover Teixeira in May 2017. Rua's last fight was a win over Gian Villante in March of 2017. Early odds coming in for this fight has Gustafsson as the favourite with -360.

The co-main event of the evening will feature Amanda Nunes defend her UFC Bantamweight Championship against Alexis Davis (#2). Davis is moving up from the Flyweight division and is looking to dethrone the champion. Nunes is on a 6 fight win streak, compared to Davis' 2 fight win streak.

UFC 224 comes to you live on Pay-Per-View from Jeunesse Arena in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil on May 12, 2018.

I like that you're doing the Gus Vs. Shogun fight for the interim, wouldn't actually be surprised to see Shogun pull off the surprise win.

Anyway, nice results for the Rockhold/Romero card. Rockhold seems to do better than Romero in these saves, shame Adesanya didn't win though, though Wilkinson could turn out good too.

Clay Guida calls out Max Holloway; UFC Featherweight Title bout confirmed

Former Strikeforce Lightweight champion Clay Guida had some choice words in a small press conference last night. Guida called out current UFC Featherweight champion Max Holloway to a fight.

Guida, who is coming off 2 wins in 2017 and is ranked #16 in the UFC, stated that the dreaded word of retirement has recently crossed his mind and he wants another shot at superstardom. Guida wants a shot at the UFC Featherweight championship.

Earlier today, Max Holloway answered the challenge via Twitter, stating that he is willing to take on all comers. Holloway, in a comment provided when he reached out to him, promised a first round finish to prove his dominence as champion.

The UFC soon confirmed the fight for UFC Fight Night 128 on FS1. The event takes place on April 21, 2018 from Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, New Jersey. This will also be the UFC's return to the venue for the first time since June 2005.

Thanks for reading! I will be posting some more in-depth shows in the future, I didn't use the awesome reports tool when I did these shows, so that's why it's just quick results.

I'm also thinking of running a prediction series in the future. Any suggestions on prizes?

I would also appreciate any comments you may have regarding the shows. Some of these results are surprising. Haha. The game is also throwing wrenches in my plans.

CobheadJake - 6/10
