It didn't have to be like this.

A man enters the scene of a broken shed, that was destroyed and burned down by events from the previous months. He takes steps towards a pile of wooden debris, and leans to touch what's there. His sorroundings are grim, as he breathes heavily and has trouble coming to his senses with what's currently unfolding.

''It didn't have to be like this'', he utters, his very aura screaming in pain.

That man, that distraught figure, his name is Shane McMahon. Long believed to be the heir to the McMahon throne, Shane was kicked to the curb by his father as a mutual agreement in early 2010, and as his sister Stephanie McMahon and Triple H both ascended during his absence, Shane was never able to have the same relationship with his father. Now, Shane had nothing, and found himself alone, at a dark night, inside a structure that was mostly comprised of ashes by that point. Shane can't help but let out a soft weep, as he watched the WWE empire crumble under his very watch, and he could do nothing to stop that from happening.

What happened?

It was a long, hard road to that compound. As is common with life, everything changes, for the better or worse. The wrestling world found itself in a state of influx at the start of the decade, but make no mistake about it, the WWE was still ruled by John Cena as we turned to 2013. As the winds of change blew in favor of seven men, Cena was still able to destroy all of them, one by one. A formidable and awesome foe was no match for Cena. The truth wasn't enough, and reality could only derail him for so long. He was unable to embrace the hate or endorse People Power, and John Cena had everybody behind him.

But John Cena had no idea what was about to unfold. No one was. 2013 brought a new attitude to the WWE, where no one was left without a personality. Newcomers to the land of opportunity were ecstatic, and new talent looked to make a name for themselves at the expense of the trail blazers that were still a part of the WWE world as well. With this group, came a man that was not afraid to voice his opinions on the world and how it was deteriorating in front of our very eyes. He defied all, but none defied him. He defied God himself, naming himself the God of all his followers, or ''brothers and sisters'' according to him. He had power in his hands from the very moment he walked into the WWE, but he always wanted more. In the end, my prophecy was fulfilled, and Bray Wyatt became the most powerful man in the world of wrestling.

He is a dangerous man, a tyrant, whose cult that once was a small group of fishes in a big WWE pond, was now in control of the entire company. Power changes people, but with Bray, he always felt like he was in power, his megalomaniacal personality was always there. It was just waiting to be unleashed at the right moment, an animal inside him scratching and clawing to be released. He believed that he had created everything and would be forced to destroy the world in order to create a new one with a superior human race led by his own hand. And right now, he's one step closer to achieving that goal. Had he not been underestimated, he could have been dealt with. But, again, no one saw it coming. One of the reasons why, was the fact that the WWE wasn't without its share of adversity in the previous months.

Alongside the surge of new competitors, a power struggle was already ongoing in 2013. To be exact, just before SummerSlam. The WWE Championship was still held by CM Punk, who had been successful against The Rock at the Royal Rumble and had classic contests such as one against Rock and John Cena at WrestleMania 29. Through his own sheer will, ability and sometimes the help of his associate Paul Heyman, Punk's reign had reached more than 600 days and counting. In May, Wade Barrett, who was better known as the former leader of The Nexus by that point, led a band of comrades made of Big Show, David Otunga and Mark Henry to attack Christian and The Miz during an episode of The Peep Show on SmackDown. At the same time, Heyman and his clients were shown to be allied with this mysterious group, and as its actions looked to rain down on the board of directors and inspire change throughout the corporation of WWE, it was dubbed ''The Conspiracy'' by many.

Their exact motives were yet to be known, but their notoriety was soaring quickly. Triple H and Stephanie McMahon looked to impose solutions on the road to SummerSlam, and with Punk being seen as the crown jewel of the Conspiracy, Triple H would reluctantly accept a valiant but unappreciated warrior in a land of giants. Former independent darling Daniel Bryan had proven to be a possible key in unseating The Second City Saint, as his battle against him at Money in the Bank proved to be the closest call in all the 600+ days Punk had held the championship. Our story starts just before this match, as I will take you through the WWE Network archives and show you how the WWE fell.

My name is unknown to many, but I'm referred to as The Master of Stars. You will learn my purpose soon enough, but first, you have to understand everything that took place up until Shane McMahon found himself alone and in tears, with everything he held dear gone for good. 4 years before, he was nowhere to be seen in the WWE and had no intentions of returning. I foresaw his return. Much like everyone else, Shane had a function in the coming battle, that was about to change the landscape of the entire WWE. But let's not get ahead of ourselves, because this tale is just starting.

OOC: After this intro full of information that will make more sense in the future, I welcome all of you to my newest, long-term project that's been in my mind since early in TEW 2013. It's been a long time since I've written, but I'm ready to join the fun once more, and I'd say this diary is the only one that I've ever fallen in love with. Sure, 2010's WWE diaries aren't exactly rare, but I hope all of you can dive in and find out what exactly made me cherish this one so dearly, what will hopefully make it unique among the crowded sea of creativity we have here on GDS. I have fun writing this and it's all that matters. Get ready for a ride you won't forget.

Cody Pillman is a Brazilian wrestler who works all over the world. He made his debut in January 2012, and worked in PWG and ROH, before attracting scouts from the WWE. He had a short stint in NXT from January to April 2013, with a classic match between him and Kassius Ohno being the highlight of his time there.

OUT OF KAYFABE

Cody Pillman is a pre-existing wrestler in the mod who I hired to take part as the character I would have liked to be if I ever wrestled. His identity will remain a mystery until the right time comes, he is a recognisable face for sure. There are no other nGo's that make this character justice other than Jimmy Jacobs' but he is not Jimmy Jacobs, that I can tell you. I just can't think of anything else to say without spoiling. This character is pretty much the only one whose real identity will be so distorted from the character that I can think of, of all the ones who are in my plans. It's all very long term and will hopefully make more sense in the future.

FEBRUARY 2013 SUMMARY The Road to WrestleMania reaches a dark roadblock... <div style="text-align:center"> - On WWE Championship Elimination Chamber Qualifying Matches, Curtis Axel defeated R-Truth and Tyson Kidd defeated David Otunga; The Miz and Team Hell No were announced as the final 3 members of the bout. Kane would later be removed from the match and replaced by Mark Henry. - On World Heavyweight Championship Elimination Chamber Qualifying Matches, Alberto Del Rio defeated Tensai; Sheamus defeated Brad Maddox; Randy Orton defeated Trent Barreta. Barrett was livid, especially as the match was a ''special treat'' to the fans by Theodore Long, after Barrett opened up the show by running his mouth. - John Cena and The Rock both made good cases to be declared the challengers for the WWE Championship at WrestleMania XXIX, but neither was able to have the better case. Kofi was hospitalized thanks to one unceremonious assault. - Theodore Long was introduced to his newest assistant SmackDown General Manager, Xavier Woods, who allegedly impressed the Board tremendously with his PhD doctorate and management skills that they had to hire him. - The Miz accepted John Morrison's pleas for the one-time return of their talk show, The Dirt Sheet, in order to hear him out. In a critically acclaimed segment, the two men reconnected with serious and goofy moments throughout, as they were interrupted by The Shield, but no one would be harmed, thanks to the trio of Ryback, Jericho and Kane. Mason Ryan had enough of that, as he marched down to the ring and took down both men, who promised revenge against the Welsh powerhouse. - Paul Heyman had the honor to announce the newest WWE championship creation, the WWE World Television Championship. Heyman explained that a tournament would be held over the next few weeks to determine the inaugural champion, and also stated that, as a betting man, that would be Curtis Axel, his client, without a doubt. Rene Dupree; Trent Barreta defeated R-Truth. - Heath Slater scored a huge upset, as he last eliminated his former 3MB companion and traitor, Drew McIntyre to win a Battle Royal and become the #1 Contender to the WWE Intercontinental Championship, held by his former partner Justin Gabriel. - Davey Richards challenged the ''boorish buffoon'' Mason Ryan to a match at WrestleMania, and Ryan promptly accepted. The match was announced as the Kickoff bout for the big event. - Semi-Final WWE World Television Championship tournament results: Curtis Axel b. Alex Riley; El Generico b. As per the rules for the new title, Axel would have to defend it every week on either Raw or SmackDown, and title matches would have a 15 minute time limit. - Fandango made his debut on Raw alongside his girlfriend and fellow dancer Summer Rae, confronting R-Truth. He claimed that Truth's rapping was an insult to every serious dancer in the world, and both men would agree to a match, with Fandango requesting for it to be at WrestleMania, where he would be able to showcase his skills to a more deserving audience. His request would be granted. - As Chris Jericho and Dolph Ziggler's rivalry was re-ignited, Big E Langston (later shortened to Big E) proved to be a distraction to Jericho multiple times, providing escapes from certain beatdowns for Ziggler. - Tyson Kidd would accept the previous Heyman challenge for a Lesnar WrestleMania opponent, and that would be quickly turned down by the Beast, who found the idea of facing Kidd hilarious. Kidd would take Lesnar down with the Dungeon Lock, and his quickness and technical wrestling skills were enough to hurt Lesnar to the point of frustration. Even though Lesnar looked to take on Kidd now, Heyman still thought that Kidd was not a worthy opponent to the Beast, and instead, had new TV Champion Curtis Axel be placed into a match with the Cruiserweight Champion for 'Mania. - Elijah Burke made his return to the WWE, defeating Ezekiel Jackson on Raw. - In a huge Main Event 2 weeks before WrestleMania, the team of John Cena, John Morrison, The Miz, The Rock and Tyson Kidd was able to defeat Brock Lesnar, CM Punk, Curtis Axel and Team Rhodes Scholars via Rock Bottom on Sandow. Lesnar was very upset at his placement in this match, and was ganged up on beforehand. Paul Heyman promised that the Beast wouldn't stand idle after such a turn of events. - Christian was the latest return to the company, after numerous injuries cost him many months of his career. After a fantastic second half of 2011, I expected better, but oh well. Still, 2013 gives me some great material to work with.

John Morrison & The Miz fought The Shield of Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins to a No Contest in a Texas Tornado Tag Team Match, after all four men were tangled in a neverending brawl in the outside that could not be broken by any of the officials. Brock Lesnar b. Tyson Kidd in a Steel Cage Match, escaping after hitting the F-5 from the top rope. After the match, Kidd, who attempted to escape via the door but didn't come close to doing so, kept crawling in order to leave, but was bashed by a Million Dollar championship shot to the face, courtesy of Ted DiBiase, who was accompanied by his father. The assault was endorsed by Paul Heyman, as father and son both joined Heyman's exclusive client list. MAY 2013 SUMMARY New alliances, new limits... <div style="text-align:center">- Goldust spoke with Cody Rhodes of an inevitable threat that was coming to the WWE, but was dismissed by Cody. http://img.bleacherreport.net/img/images/photos/002/016/391/the-ascension2_crop_north.jpg?1354306836&w=630&h=420 - Three NXT prospects, Kenneth Cameron, Conor O'Brian and Rick Victor, made their presence felt, as they, now named Kameron, Konnor and Viktor respectively, collectively known as The Ascension, took down The Great Khali and sent him to the hospital on a stretcher (Khali was released from his contract following this attack.) - Brodus Clay decided to put an end to his Funkasaurus shtick, brutally attacking The Usos after losing a six-man tag match. Cameron was released from her WWE contract and Naomi was separated from Clay after this. - Chris Jericho finally put his issues with Dolph Ziggler to rest, declaring that the World champion was indeed the better man when it came to facing Y2J. He said that he was still the very damn best at what he does, and took exception to CM Punk's interruption of his promo. Jericho challenged Punk to a match at Over the Limit, reminding him of how he had swiftly beaten him in Canada earlier in the year, and Punk said that it would be an honor to make Jericho scream. The I Quit Match stipulation was later added to the bout. - Xavier Woods gave El Generico an ultimatum after his hot streak, awarding him with a World title shot against Dolph Ziggler. Wyatt talked about how the world was deteriorating in front of his eyes and he was going to cleanse it himself along with his family, explaining its history and claiming that he created every children in the world, eventually creating wars, deeming the world a failure, and saying that he would destroy all of it. - The King of the Ring tournament was resurrected, and announced as an event once again, with the Quarter-Finals, Semi-Finals and Finals taking place there. The Qualifying Matches would take place beforehand, and Cody Rhodes defeated Christian to kick off the huge batch of matches. - From hellfire and brimstone emerged Kane, who would be named CM Punk's opponent for King of the Ring. Punk saw fear in his own face for the first time in months, as ''The Big Red Monster'' chokeslammed the WWE Champion upon the announcement. - Wade Barrett demanded an opportunity against Christian for what he claimed was his WWE Intercontinental Championship, and after a tense scene on MizTV, that request was granted, with Miz named the Special Referee. Christian would retain the gold later that night, but both he and Miz would be assaulted by Big Show, David Otunga and Mark Henry afterwards, with Barrett joining them soon enough and calling the shots. The foursome vanished after this, and the fans were left pondering as to what had happened. - Melissa was denied a fourth match against Kaitlyn from Stephanie McMahon, who named the champion's former best friend AJ Lee the next challenger as a result of her continuous success during the trilogy of defeats that Melissa had suffered.</div>

Wade Barrett by DQ, Chris Jericho b. Heath Slater, Roman Reigns b. Randy Orton, Seth Rollins b. Kofi Kingston, Daniel Bryan b. Davey Richards. - Big E stopped managing World Heavyweight Champion Dolph Ziggler and became General Manager Xavier Woods' bodyguard, and Ziggler was given all nights off until King of the Ring, where he was scheduled to face Randy Orton once again, as a result. Woods' actions were questioned by Sami Zayn, who looked to face him in the ring. However, Big E defended Woods and took down Sami with the Big Ending. Zayn and Big E would later agree to a match at King of the Ring. - Damien Sandow hosted an edition of his talk show, The Book Club, with Cody Rhodes and Goldust, as means to get answers on his former partner's confusing recent actions. Cody claimed to have no idea what people were talking about, and that John Morrison had simply won the title match by himself, as Sandow asked Goldust what in the world he was doing with Cody. The promotion has pulled several Ryland-rated A matches as of August, but such classics still can't cover two huge problems with the promotion: Its lack of good storytelling and character building, and the financial crisis that TNA has been going through. WWE holds no interest in purchasing its ''competition'' as of yet, but the returns of Elijah Burke and Rob Van Dam show that TNA wrestlers are surely looking for better contracts. Mickie James, one of TNA's best Knockouts, also made the jump, but rather to Ring of Honor, where she has put on quality matches in the promotion's new women's division. - Jeff Hardy still holds the TNA World Heavyweight Championship, having beaten Austin Aries in October 2012. OOC: After much thinking about the matter, I've decided to try a prediction contest for the major TV Shows along with the PPVs. I want to analyze how my groove of postages will be, so we'll see how this ends up in the long term. For now, feel free to comment on the matter and which format you prefer for a good contest. Also, this is the third post in less than 24 hours, don't get used to this, but I've got a nice batch of shows done, so new posts bi-daily or tri-daily is not an unrealistic expectation.

Daniel Bryan promises to find answers about the controversial ending between his Money in the Bank WWE Championship match with CM Punk, looking to get one more shot at the gold in Los Angeles' big event, SummerSlam. The rest of Paul Heyman's clients will have their hands full on the Main Event, as ''The Beast'' Brock Lesnar has once again been set for tag team action along with Curtis Axel, something that will surely anger him even more! Their opponents will be their longtime rival Tyson Kidd, along with a mystery partner of his choosing. Who will be brave enough to dare to accept Kidd's invitation and endure a brawl with Brock Lesnar?

Plus, Christian defends the WWE Intercontinental Championship against Antonio Cesaro in what's sure to be one of his toughest challenges to date, The Shield and The Usos face off in a Money in the Bank rematch, and the #1 Contender for the United States Championship will be determined in a Fatal 4-Way Match including Summer Rae's boyfriend, who has vowed to release her from Dean Ambrose's captivity, Fandango!
