WCW 2000: The People's Promotion

Recommended Posts

<p>This week, Nitro would be leaving Jacksonville for the pastures of New York City where we were booked to be at the Manley Field House. No incidents occurred while I was backstage, so we could just get right to it.</p><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="45104" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div>Bam Bam had been concerned about his win loss record as of late so I scheduled a squash match for him on the pre-show, he had an off day tonight but it didn't stop him from winning that easily. We also had The Mamalukes against Truth Streetz in what was made to be a preview for the new team. Truth Streetz proved to be the better team that time with Tony Truths hitting the Pearl River Plunge. He was the best wrestler in the match, with his tag partner Ron being the weak link.</div></blockquote><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="45104" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><div style="text-align:center;"><img alt="A5ELfjX.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/A5ELfjX.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p> Our show began with Vince Russo running over the night's events, that being the quarterfinal matchups in the WCW world heavyweight tournament. No matter what, four of these men were going to be teaming up with each other to face Harlem Heat against Grizzled and Chiseled. He then switched gears when he demanded Chris Benoit to come out and speak to Vince like a man. </p><p> </p><p> </p><div style="text-align:center;"><img alt="honQdFp.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/honQdFp.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p> Chris came out to the ring to a hero's welcome and stared him down like a man. Vince mentions how his 'conduct' in recent weeks had been unsatisfactory. Here was a guy who built his legacy by being one of the most graceful, driven wrestlers in wrestling history: And he was throwing it all away by acting bitter over his place.</p><p> </p><p> Chris defended his speech last week, saying he meant every word of it. And no man was going to change that, not even Vince. He may be the new commissioner of WCW, but it didn't change the fact that he wasn't going to let someone like him define what the true vision of WCW, the vision Ted Turner promised it would be. And he was going to prove it by winning the WCW world title at the Big Bang!</p><p> </p><p> Vince clapped his hands and sarcastically congratulated Chris on yet another big speech and for 'speaking the truth'. He gets serious for a moment and issues an ultimatum. If Chris wins, he gets the title, he gets the glitz, he gets the glamor, all of it. But if he loses his match tonight, his semifinal match or even his finals match...</p><p> </p><p> Then Chris will be fired from WCW, effective immediately. Vince storms out of the ring and leaves Chris to realize the ramifications of the match at hand.</p><p> </p><p> Rating: <span style="color:#A0522D;">48 (D+)</span></p><p> </p><p> DDP's Notes: This was slightly disappointing, but not unexpected to me. Despite Chris's speech last week, he was never known for his mic ability and it showed tonight as he struggled on improvising tonight. Vince on the other hand was solid again during his promo and he came off as a very convincing evil boss tonight.</p><p> </p><p> </p><div style="text-align:center;"><img alt="rsUb8Lm.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/rsUb8Lm.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /> vs <img alt="KF7kQP7.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/KF7kQP7.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></div><p></p><p></p><p> This was basically a showcase for Vampiro as he got to showcase some of his best moves to the fans. Naturally, the match didn't last long; only 4:11. And it ended with Vampiro garnering a win with the Nail in the Coffin. </p><p> </p><p> Rating: <span style="color:#A0522D;">50 (D+)</span></p><p> </p><p> DDP's Notes: I had originally set this as a calm down match in the hopes that the opening segment would startle the crowd enough to do so. But given how it turned out, that was not the case. It was a learning experience for me though, I will give it that.</p><p> </p><p> </p><div style="text-align:center;"><img alt="6keMFde.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/6keMFde.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></div><p></p><p></p><p> We then turned over to Gene Okerlund as he interviewed a surly Scott Steiner who asked him how he felt about his quarterfinal matchup against Eddie Guerrero. In the middle of his sentence, Scott snatched the mic away from Gene and told him to get lost, he then told the audience to look at his nose. This was the cause of Terry Funk's reckless nature in their contest last week. So not only was an old bastard, he was an old and unsafe bastard. He vowed to not only end Terry's career for causing this, he promised to make it so that he'd never be able to walk again.</p><p> </p><p> Rating: <span style="color:#2E8B57;">79 (B)</span></p><p> </p><p> DDP's Notes: This promo came to light after Scott Steiner's nose injury after Terry stiffed the DDT onto Scott. It was another one of Scott's vicious promos where Scott goes on hard on his storyline opponent that edged on the lines between scripted and kayfabe. This time it was more on the scripted front, but a few of Steiner's mannerisms came into play.</p><p> </p><p> </p><div style="text-align:center;"><img alt="KDqc87Z.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/KDqc87Z.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /> vs <img alt="ZhgUebb.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/ZhgUebb.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></div><p></p><p></p><p> Until tonight, the two legendary technicians had never faced off one on one. But no one knew that from how they wrestled tonight, looking like they had wrestled each other plenty of times before. The men who knew every hold known to society went on a grappling styled war trading suplexes, submissions and crisp encounters. The most cathartic moment in the match was when Bret locked Dean in the sharpshooter and Dean refused to tap out, resisting to the pain for an outstanding forty seconds before finally submitting and sending Bret to the semifinals in 18:23.</p><p> </p><p> Rating: <span style="color:#FFFF00;">71 (C+)</span></p><p> </p><p> DDP's Notes: The rating reflects one thing on my part, I am too much of a greenhorn when it comes to booking to be trusted with match placement. This match needed the crowd to be warmed up to an extent and it showed as the crowd was dead for most of the match. A very disappointing effort rating wise, but a great match between Bret and Dean who loved the idea of going at it together.</p><p> </p><p> </p><div style="text-align:center;"><img alt="ZhgUebb.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/ZhgUebb.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p> Once Bret is gone from the ring, referees come and try to get Dean back on his feet. But something special happens right then and there, he gets his arm on the second rope and slowly staggers his way up. One referee tries to help him up, but Dean shoves him away shouting that he can do it on himself. He exits the ring and limps backstage, soaking in the applause of the audience who realize that they had witnessed an incredible performance from one of the best technical wrestlers in the game.</p><p> </p><p> Rating: <span style="color:#A0522D;">46 (D+)</span></p><p> </p><p> DDP's Notes: Dean may not be a Steve Austin or a Rock. But the crowd loved Dean for pouring his heart out there tonight and it made Dean look like an absolute millionaire going out of the match on his own terms. A poignant segment and a sign that this will not be the last we see these two face off.</p><p> </p><p> </p><div style="text-align:center;"><img alt="JgEMD5V.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/JgEMD5V.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p> Backstage, we saw Chavo Guerrero being interviewed by Gene Okerlund; asking how he feels on his uncle Eddie and his chances against Scott Steiner. Chavo states that he knows his uncle well, and he is confident that Eddie is going to give it everything he's got to ensure that he is the new WCW...world...champion...</p><p> </p><p> </p><div style="text-align:center;"><img alt="rNIU2O5.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/rNIU2O5.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p> All of a sudden, Chavo stops and sees something, or rather someone walking up to him. It's Tylene Buck. She tells him how well he did last week against such a tough opponent in Chris Benoit and noted that she liked a strong man who could handle anyone. Chavo had a smile as wide as the kid who got the toy he wanted on Christmas and thanked Tylene for her kind words, but everyone knew he was melting from the hotness that was the Major Gunns. She then came up to Chavo in a seductive matter and told him the next time he had a match, she would be watching. Finishing with her lightly poking her finger on Chavo's nose and sauntering off leaving Chavo a happy man.</p><p> </p><p> Rating: <span style="color:#A0522D;">38 (D-)</span></p><p> </p><p> DDP's Note: They wanted more Nitro Girls, they got more Nitro Girls. Simple as that. Also, potential new pairing in Chavo and Tylene. It's interesting. Keep watching for more.</p><p> </p><p> </p><div style="text-align:center;"><img alt="xoY5YeH.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/xoY5YeH.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /> vs <img alt="UXmQK8Z.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/UXmQK8Z.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p> In what was hyped up by Jeff as he made his way down the ramp as 'the defining moment of his career' because of who he was facing. The two both had a case to make to move onto the semifinal match against Bret Hart and they showed how much they wanted it by working a story-driven match as the commentators questioned who it was that had the determination to face Bret at the Big Bang. In the end, Ric pulled a typical Nature Boy move when the referee was accidentally knocked out by Jeff Jarrett and Ric went low in the kiwis to set up the figure four leg lock, and just like that: Jeff tapped out at 10:08.</p><p> </p><p> Rating: <span style="color:#006400;">75 (B-)</span></p><p><span style="color:#006400;"> </span></p><p> DDP's Notes: The two worked a solid match given how little time the two had (for stars of their caliber) and i'm happy with the result. I'm also excited as to how WCW is going to be showcasing Bret Hart vs Ric Flair on live television. That sounds AMAZING, right?</p><p> </p><p> Well...about that.</p><p> </p><p> </p><div style="text-align:center;"><img alt="A5ELfjX.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/A5ELfjX.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="xoY5YeH.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/xoY5YeH.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="UXmQK8Z.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/UXmQK8Z.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p> Ric has his hand raised in victory as the announcers begin to hype up Bret and Ric in the semifinals when Vince forced everyone to stop what they were doing. Ric gave Vince his undivded attention and waited to see what was up: Vince explains that Ric did what he could and he's proud of him moving on. But there's been a slight mix-up. Given how the match ended, he has decided that they need to restart the match. Baffled by the outcome, the referee rang the bell and immediately Jeff caught Ric with The Stroke and went for the cover. 1, 2, 3! Jeff Jarrett moves on thanks to a change of plans!</p><p> </p><p> Rating: <span style="color:#FF8C00;">56 (C-)</span></p><p> </p><p> DDP's Notes: Classic heel work right there. You screw the legend out of a world title shot and give the arrogant star a win without having Ric throw a major fit over it. This is the antidote that prevented such a situation. A well done segment with the only blip being Vince struggling to keep up with Flair and Jarrett's acting work.</p><p> </p><p> </p><div style="text-align:center;"><img alt="OVwh7IO.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/OVwh7IO.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="fQFaT9K.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/fQFaT9K.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p> Meanwhile, we head backstage where something has gone wrong! It turns out Scott and Eddie are going at it, most likely because of everything that occurred last week. Referees eventually try to break up the two and struggle to keep the two separated. Eddie decides to be the bigger man and let Scott off from anymore punishment, makes sense says Tony: Since he has a tournament match coming up.</p><p> </p><p> Rating: <span style="color:#FF8C00;">54 (C-)</span></p><p> </p><p> </p><div style="text-align:center;"><img alt="p7YuZki.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/p7YuZki.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p> So needing a cool-down after...that. We see the ever sexy Stacy Keibler shooting out glorious WCW t-shirts to the ever loving crowd. Mostly the male demographic which she flirts with the entire time with her sultry dance moves.</p><p> </p><p> Rating: <span style="color:#FFFF00;">69 (C+)</span></p><p> </p><p> </p><div style="text-align:center;"><img alt="gL6uEKA.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/gL6uEKA.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /> vs <img alt="MQLRA5A.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/MQLRA5A.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></div><p></p><p></p><p> This match was made so the two could settle their differences after a vicious attack from Crowbar. Billy got the upper-hand at first, but eventually it was all Crowbar when he came up on an animalistic rage as orchestrated by Daffney. This proved to be his downfall as Crowbar kept Billy on the ropes with a choke for a count of five and got disqualified in the process.</p><p> </p><p> Rating: <span style="color:#A0522D;">46 (D+)</span></p><p> </p><p> DDP's Notes: The crowd at this point was not pleased with the match given how the show had gone. Understandable, it's not one of our bigger feuds. So, who came to save the day for Nitro?</p><p> </p><p> </p><div style="text-align:center;"><img alt="4BmNcXo.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/4BmNcXo.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="Lg5CfQm.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/Lg5CfQm.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p> Once more we came to Gene and saw Harlem Heat looking angered over recent events. That being Grizzled and Chiseled and their behavior as of late: Stevie calls out Grizzled and Chiseled and how they disrespect the hard working wrestlers backstage and make fools out of themselves on how they rant on 'the youth'. Booker asks why Lex and Shane don't get respect from the guys backstage, that's because they don't deserve to be respected. Harlem Heat came from a hard background, worked from the bottom up, and now they're the kings of the WCW tag division and if Lex and Shane wanna bring them down; they'll be happy to show them a little bit of respect. Now can you dig that sucka?</p><p> </p><p> Rating: <span style="color:#FFFF00;">66 (C+)</span></p><p> </p><p> DDP's Notes: Harlem Heat. I've always liked Booker and Stevie, they've been a fantastic team for a long time and they've got some singles experience on their side and I expect them to have very good singles careers if the day ever comes to push them as such. And it may not be long before that happens if you ask me.</p><p> </p><p> </p><div style="text-align:center;"><img alt="honQdFp.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/honQdFp.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p> Here's Chris, walking backstage. Coming for you Rey.</p><p> </p><p> Rating: <span style="color:#FF8C00;">58 (C-)</span></p><p> </p><p> </p><div style="text-align:center;"><img alt="honQdFp.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/honQdFp.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /> vs <img alt="6iXG7fT.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/6iXG7fT.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></div><p></p><p></p><p> This match was a fast paced clinic between two of the finest wrestlers in WCW today. Chris and Rey had everything to prove in their quest to head to Big Bang. They packed as much as they could in under ten minutes and they did not disappoint. Nearfalls, aerial dives, technical struggles, you name it, they did it. In the end, Chris was the better man with the Crossface making Rey tap out at 9:36.</p><p> </p><p> Rating:<span style="color:#FFFF00;"> 71 (C+)</span></p><p> </p><p> DDP's Notes: Like with Ric and Jeff, Chris and Rey did everything they could with the short time they had. If it were any longer, i'd say this would be a guaranteed MOTN. Not so tonight so we had to settle with an overall good matchup between two very capable wrestlers.</p><p> </p><p> </p><div style="text-align:center;"><img alt="WZZNlqe.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/WZZNlqe.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="ZL6QVlK.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/ZL6QVlK.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></div><p></p><p></p><p> We were then treated to another look at 'the street' where Tony and Ron apparently lived in. Tony said that pride came before a fall, and over the years they've seen many people fall from the highs of their past. But Ron says that in this street, our street as he calls it. Those who fall here, don't usually get back up. He's Ron Killings, he's Tony Truths. And pretty soon, they'll be at their street. Truth Streetz.</p><p> </p><p> Rating: <span style="color:#FF0000;">22 (E+)</span></p><p> </p><p> </p><div style="text-align:center;"><img alt="6keMFde.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/6keMFde.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /> vs <img alt="fQFaT9K.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/fQFaT9K.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p> Main event time here at Manley's as Eddie proved to be quite the opponent for Scott Steiner. Scott demanded Eddie not touch his face as he was concerned that he was still going through damage in the nostrils. Eddie obeyed this command by giving Scott a hurricanrana, for the entirety of the match it seemed that Scott was more concerned about his nose than the match itself! Eddie looked to walk away with the win when...</p><p> </p><p> </p><div style="text-align:center;"><img alt="OVwh7IO.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/OVwh7IO.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p> Scott Hall showed up, showcasing some </p><div class="ipsEmbeddedVideo"><div><iframe width="200" height="150" src="https://www.youtube-nocookie.com/embed/QhU6aapXYtE?feature=oembed" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen="" title="Scott Hall TNA Theme Song - Full Version"></iframe></div></div> and glaring straight in the eye of Eddie Guerrero, Eddie jawed at Scott to up to him so they could settle it like men when Scott came from behind, decked Eddie with the Steiner Screwdriver and got the win in 10:01.<p> </p><p> Rating: <span style="color:#FFFF00;">70 (C+)</span></p><p> </p><p> DDP's Notes: Scott was not at his best tonight and was a little slower than usual because of his nose, but when the match is one point away from being tied for the second best of the night you can't really complain too much. Scott got to move on to the next round and Eddie and Hall continued their feud. You solve two issues and you get a good match out of it. Well done.</p><p> </p><p> </p><div style="text-align:center;"><img alt="OVwh7IO.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/OVwh7IO.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="fQFaT9K.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/fQFaT9K.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p> As Scott Steiner left the ring, Scott Hall entered and gave Eddie a murderous glare. He then got down on one knee and yelled at Eddie; asking how it felt to embarrass him in front of all of these people the way he did last week and lays into him with punch after punch after punch. He throws Eddie out of the ring then into the ring post. As Tony begs for Scott to stop his assault, Scott continues to beat on Eddie until he senses blood in the water. He then makes his exclamation point heard by lifting Eddie up in air...</p><p> </p><p> AND DRIVING HIM DOWN THE CONCRETE WITH THE OUTSIDER'S EDGE!</p><p> </p><p> Scott poses for the crowd as he smiles at a job well done.</p><p> </p><p> Rating: <span style="color:#A0522D;">53 (D+)</span></p><p> </p><p> DDP's Notes: This feud hasn't seemed to have gotten as hot as I thought it would be, and i'm not sure if it's because Eddie's not as popular as Scott or if Scott's personally holding himself back or what, for some reason: This has not be the feud I thought it was going to be so far. That said, it's still early so I have faith that things can pick up sooner than later.</p><p> </p><p> Final Rating: <span style="color:#F4A460;">65 ©</span></p><p> </p><p> DDP's Thoughts: I feel like some of this was on my bad because of me still learning how to run the book, but on the other hand there were some things that could've gone better. Bret vs Dean, Scott vs Eddie and Vince vs Chris being the main factors.</p><p> </p><p> The good news is that Scott Steiner, Harlem Heat, Ric Flair and Jeff Jarrett helped rally and brought the show up to a passable state. Not a great show, but an overall decent show.</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Hightlights:</strong> Scott Steiner vs Eddie Guerrero, Chris Benoit vs Rey Mysterio, Ric Flair vs Jeff Jarrett, Scott Steiner, Vince Russo in general.</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Lowlights:</strong> Bret Hart vs Dean Malenko, Billy Kidman vs Crowbar and Scott Hall vs Eddie Guerrero being underwhelming, Chris Benoit being poor on the stick.</p></div></blockquote>

"WHAT DO YOU MEAN WE'RE NOT A NATIONAL COMPANY ANYMORE?!" I shouted out in rage.

SrEA1VS.jpg2Nnxok5.jpgA5ELfjX.jpgUXmQK8Z.jpg

Venus, Kimberly, Vince, and Jeff had gotten together with me to tell me the bad news, that we were doing so bad that we were no longer even in competition with WWF. Everyone knew that this was a trying time for the company, but so far it seemed that critics were not convinced that I had done enough to stop the slide. WCW was now officially a 'Cult' company at best.

"Dallas. It's not as bad as it seems." Kimberly tried to calm me. "Not bad? NOT BAD?!" I shrieked out of fear and anger. "They're saying the Monday Night Wars are over with! HOW IS THAT NOT BAD?!"

"Dallas, it wasn't all your fault." Jeff spoke to me. Concerned for my well being. "This was an inevitability for a long time now. You knew that." I wasn't having it. "So Ted picked me personally to watch his ship go down in flames?!"

"No Dallas, that's not what he wanted you to do." Jeff told me frantically. "He wanted you to right the ship by any means necessary."

"I mean, if you need any booking advice; you could always come ask me." Vince suggested out of confusion. Sure, coming from the guy that loved booking pole matches day in and day out and pulled out more twists out of his ass than a M. Night Shamalayn movie. "Why don't YOU ASK YOURSELF YOU-" I started to lunge right at Vince when Kimberly rose her voice.

"Dallas, please! You're scaring Venus!" Pointing to a violently shaking Venus, sitting on the floor. That was enough for me to calm myself and pull it together. "I'm sorry..." I said. "It's just that i'm still new to this being a booker thing and all of a sudden i'm being thrown curveball after curveball like they think i'm some sort of twenty year pro at this stuff. As much as they give flak to people like Vince, at least the guy has experience. And Jeff? Your dad has a phenomenal business mind and he knows a thing or two about tough situations. What am I? I'm just some wrestler Billionaire Ted picked from out of nowhere. I don't have the experience like Vinny or Eric do or the talent to get away with it. I'm just a greenhorn. Simple as that."

The others looked at me, they knew I was feeling rather low at myself for seeing the company drop out of National the way it did. The entire locker room was. Then Jeff started to speak up, and delivered a rousing speech. "I understand Dallas. This is a new experience for you, in fact: This is a new experience for all of us. But we all need to get it together, calm down and realize that at the end of the day, we're all human beings. And we all make reckless decisions sometimes. Hell knows i've made plenty."

"You mean like when you lost to Chyna?" Kimberly asked, "Yes." Jeff said begrudgingly. "Even when I lost to McMahon's double wet dream." Kimberly chuckled a little at that admission. "But I picked myself up and look where i'm at now! I'm in the best damn company this side of the south! I'm in WCW baby! Where the big boys play! And we didn't get this far by getting down and moping about our failures, we picked ourselves up and we got back to what we did best. Being the best promotion in the world. And I place my full confidence in you Dallas. Ted sent you here on a mission, and I believe that with time: You will be able to complete that mission. All you have to do is believe that you can."

He was right. I had been pretty down on being the booker of WCW, and had been doubting myself up to this point. Even when other people congratulated me on the job, I shrugged it off as said it was just another job. The last few weeks had shown me otherwise. I was sent on a mission, and no matter what: I was gonna complete the mission. "And you know what, that's not a bad thing." I stated. Everyone knew what was about to happen next.

"That's a good thing!"

And like I was actually on Nitro, everyone popped hard for me as I said that. I got a few encouraging high fives from Jeff and Vince and Kimberly gave me a kiss on the cheek. As they all left, I put it on Venus to give me the scoop on what happened on RAW. The Hardyz and Dudleyz had a fun encounter, Steve got to work with The Undertaker, The Rock beat up Papi Chulo and X-Pac showed potential as a main event star against The Big Show (or the former Paul Wight).

"Sounds like a hell of a show." I smirked. "Sure was," She said. "Got an 85 out of a 100." I nodded my head. That was impressive. I also asked Venus for a run-down of what was going on behind the scenes. Apparently, Chris Benoit took a glimpse at what Ron was doing and saw potential in him. That was some nice news to hear. As the days went on, just about everyone not named Chris Candido had been officially signed.

I sent the following to NXT:

A.J Styles

Jazz

Low Ki

Rodney Mack (who will now go by the aliases Mr. Mack)

The Hass Brothers

And I kept Yoshihiro Tajiri on the main roster.

In less than enthusiastic news: Ric Flair had been manipulating the locker room against Scott Hall and had turned quite a few people against him. Nothing I could really do about that unfortunately.

Oh, and if you're wondering how ratings were. We did a 4.64, better than last time. Self gratifying dance time.

Da boss needs to stay in the spotlight some

Rey and Kidman vs Berlyn and Crowbar

I 2nd the killing of both the Berlyn gimmick and Das Wonderkin. I really have to admit I never got Alex Wright.

Juventud Guerrera and Konnan vs The Blue Bloods

Blue Bloods are great at improving guys and making them look good

Ric Flair vs Scott Hall

Man tough matchup. You have Hall with his demons but he was a grade 1 talent. You have Naitch that is the legend, was booked in a screwy Dusty finish to keep him happy but also has gotten some in the locker room against Hall. I sense Hall is going to end up in rehab soon so I’ll say Flair but only a slight lean

Diamond Dallas Page vs Brian Adams

Ok, Page might be all about putting his talent over, but no.....just no

Rey and Kidman vs Berlyn and Crowbar

I 3rd the killing of Berlyn.....wait, no I don't....Berlyn was awesome, don't listen to this lot :p in all seriousness I did like the Berlyn character, they could have done so much more with him than they did, and if he had a better partner I'd totally be on board him winning this......he doesn't though....he has Crowbar.....Filthy Animals win

Juventud Guerrera and Konnan vs The Blue Bloods

I hate not picking the actual "team" in a tag team match....the Blue Bloods have matching attire and everything.....and a team name which is a big plus for me....but they aren't winning here

Ric Flair vs Scott Hall

Scott has unfinished business with Eddie Guerrero....now there's some unlikely partners in the tag team title race

Thoughts On Last Show/Diary As A Whole: WCW losing National status probably happened for real as during 2000 it just became unwatchable and not a threat to any show. You have the stars to be National just they all fell in status due to the booking leading up to your takeover. They are deep, but several guys are past their prime. I was hoping to see Chris get screwed just to see how he would get back in WCW after his firing. Should have predicted Flair and Jarrett as I knew you would never give away Hart vs. Flair on free tv. Vintage Flair always get screwed by WCW and Russo. I'm just waiting for the return of on a pole matches to get ratings back up. Or maybe creating a new stable. Looking for something big to happen to create a buzz.</p>

<p>Tonight, we're in the heat of Arizona as Thunder comes from the Desert Sun Stadium. Pretty nice place all told, able to hold at least 10,000. Also a nice place to get away from the heat, have you seen the weather forecast there? Over a 110 degrees in the summer! That's just mental.</p><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="45104" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div>Rant aside, here's a look at how things went on the pre-show. I noticed a kid named Elix Skipper and asked him if he could come on in and be the opponent for Samoa Joe tonight, he said yes and we had our match. To the shock of no one, Samoa Joe won the match with a sick looking rear naked choke. I'm thinking of naming it the Coquina Clutch. If there's a surefire way of getting Joe over as the next big monster, this may be it.<p> </p><p> I also tried something different with the Mamalukes: That being the three being the faces against The Headhunters. It has the potential tonight, but the fans aren't quite sure if this will work. We'll see what happens in the future, but tonight the Mamalukes got the win with an Impaler DDT.</p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="45104" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><div style="text-align:center;"><img alt="OVwh7IO.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/OVwh7IO.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p> After the introduction, we saw Scott Hall looking all smug as he enters the ring. As he takes the sunglasses, he throws them to someone in the crowd in the hopes they take it as a souvenir (they did). Scott then begins to explain why he attacked Eddie during Nitro. Eddie embarrassed him last week when he beat him on the mat, and he decided to return the favor. Eddie may have the Latino Heat, but there's one thing Scott Hall knows. And it's something the 'lame maracas' of WCW don't seem to understand. It's that Scott Hall knows wrestling and wrestling knows-</p><p> </p><p> <strong>WOO!</strong></p><p> </p><p> </p><div style="text-align:center;"><img alt="xoY5YeH.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/xoY5YeH.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p> Ric Flair saunters his way out to the ring, microphone in hand. He calls out Scott for his disrespectful actions in the last few weeks stating that Eddie was a valiant fighter taking him on and he treated him like the sore lose Scott was. Scott finds it unsurprising that Ric would say something like that about Eddie, considering how similar the two of them are. They both lie, they both cheat, and they both steal. Ric agrees with Scott on that sentiment; but he adds by saying that they're at least honest about it. Scott's had enough of Ric and tells him that if he's so obstinate about wanting to defend Eddie's honor. He can do that at the hospital Eddie's on. Ric shakes his head on that idea and suggests something else: How about the wheeling and dealing, styling and profiling, kiss stealing sonuva gun defend his honor by facing him in the ring tonight?</p><p> </p><p> Scott smirks, he's been looking for some action tonight and seeing as Ric is out of the tournament, he'll have to do. His theme song goes quiet as the crowd waits in anticipation for what he has to say. He says that recently he's heard a lot of talk recently that Billionaire Ted's baby boy was terminally ill, that it couldn't compete anymore and how the 'other promotion' won the war. Well tonight, he's here to tell you that they're dead wrong. Because as long as the loyal fans of WCW are by his side, he can ensure you that the war is far from over. If anything, it's just begun! And he's gonna show the little men of Stanford how it was done by winning the WCW television championship at the Big Bang. Bret admits that he underestimated Dean and that he was a far battle opponent than he could've ever imagined, and that's why whether or not he does win the WCW World Heavyweight Championship at the Big Bang; he wants to face Dean again to prove once and for all that he is the best there is, the best there was and the best there ever will be.</p><p> </p><p> Rating: <span style="color:#00FF00;">85 (B+)</span></p><p> </p><p> DDP's Notes: Hot damn, Bret cut a great promo tonight. He was given full creative freedom and used it to his advantage and he was able to craft a blunt, respectful yet heel-like interview. Impressive considering he's never been known for his promo ability.</p><p> </p><p> </p><div style="text-align:center;"><img alt="TRGrXAv.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/TRGrXAv.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><p> </p></div><p></p><p></p><p> Inside a Japanese dojo, we see many martial artists training. They all have aspirations in their lives: Mostly in the Olympics. But as we soon find out, there's one who has dreams of his own. The door opens and all of a sudden, all of the others look on in shock as the beautiful Leia Meow enters. She looks across the entire dojo and smirks, seeing this as a beautiful day to train. She turns her head over and asks someone if he's ready. </p><p> </p><p> </p><div style="text-align:center;"><img alt="lXOc52p.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/lXOc52p.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p> A mysterious Japanese figure then joins her by her side, wearing no expression on his face. He looks to his left and he looks to his right and then looks at Leia and gives her a slight nodding motion, seemingly signaling the training to begin. She points at the martial artists and he begins his training.</p><p> </p><p> And to the tune of a complete rip-off of the Pokemon theme song (without the cheesy lyrics), The mysterious man goes to work. Kicking everyone and everything he sees in an almost possessed state of mind, the others are not sure what to do but they decide to try and fight him off. Their attempts are futile as he takes their heads off with brutal kicks to the skull, he even spits green mist on one unlucky soul, blinding them. At last, the carnage comes to an end with him making another tap out desperately to his Tarantula finisher before being commanded to halt by Leia. The man and Leia survey the damage and as he returns to his normal non-expression, Leia looks at her apparent partner; giving him a sultry smile and a light peck on the cheeks for a job well done. The two exit the premises, leaving us with these simple words.</p><p> </p><p> TAJIRI IS COMING.</p><p> </p><p> Rating: <span style="color:#FF0000;">28 (E+)</span></p><p> </p><p> DDP's Notes: I've always admired Tajiri's work in ECW and thought the guy had a chance to be a real player wherever he went. I think in the end he's going to be a great fit for WCW and I see him as a guy who can go out there and deliver some very good matchups while looking vicious along the way.</p><p> </p><p> </p><div style="text-align:center;"><img alt="gL6uEKA.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/gL6uEKA.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /> and <img alt="6iXG7fT.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/6iXG7fT.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /> vs <img alt="cUAKwqX.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/cUAKwqX.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /> and <img alt="MQLRA5A.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/MQLRA5A.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p> In a match set up to hype up the cruiserweight title match between Rey and Berlyn, Billy was shown to still be nursing the injuries suffered at the hands of Crowbar of the last two weeks. Rey gets Crowbar reeling in the early goings, but it's when Berlyn comes in that things start to look grim for the former filthy animals. Desperate, Rey comes in for a hot tag and gets one just in time! Billy comes in like a house en fuego delivering lariats to Berlyn and Crowbar and then rattling Berlyn with an enziguri. But it's all for naught as Berlyn counters the SSP with two knees to some bad ribs, leaving him vulnerable in 12:28 to a Hangman's Neckbreaker which Tony called 'Auf Wiedersehen'.</p><p> </p><p> Rating: <span style="color:#FF8C00;">54 (C-)</span></p><p><span style="color:#FF8C00;"> </span></p><p> DDP's Notes: This match was made to continue the story between Rey, Billy, Crowbar and Berlyn showing that Crowbar and Berlyn were able to capitalize on Billy's current state. Rey was the overall best competitor in this match, but Billy had his moments as well. Decent match.</p><p> </p><p> </p><div style="text-align:center;"><img alt="yAypFui.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/yAypFui.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p> Terry Funk was then seen backstage, looking ready to explain himself over Scott's accusations over him destroying his nose. He apologizes for the nose, but he says that he cannot apologize for Scott's sorry attitude. He may be out of the running for the world title, but he makes a sincere promise. If Scott wins the world title at the Big Bang, then he's going to be the first one that's gunning for it.</p><p> </p><p> Rating: <span style="color:#FF8C00;">55 (C-)</span></p><p> </p><p> DDP's Notes: A step back from the last promo he gave and the promos Scott has been punting out as of late, but you can't expect someone to hit a homer every time. And Terry is no exception.</p><p> </p><p> </p><div style="text-align:center;"><img alt="JgEMD5V.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/JgEMD5V.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="rNIU2O5.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/rNIU2O5.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p> Chavo Guerrero Jr. is then seen backstage as a voice tells him to go ahead and do it, Chavo quietly tells him that he's going to, attempting to calm his nerves down. And it's clear to see why as we see Tylene Buck talking with someone. When the person she's talking to goes away, Chavo makes his move, clearing his throat. Tylene looks at Chavo and asks if she can help her. Chavo struggles to get the words out of his mouth, but eventually he manages to ask Tylene if she would like to go on a date next week with him? Tylene looks at Chavo, slightly baffled. She? Go on a date with him? Chavo nods, trying to plaster a smile on his face; hoping for the best. Tylene thinks about her options and then comes up with a plan. She tells Chavo to close his eyes, he obliges, waiting to see what is going to happen...</p><p> </p><p> And then he feels the press of Tylene's lips on his own! Tylene tells him that she'll see him next week and heads off, smirking at a love-stricken Chavo whose eyes are still closed shut. Chavo then asks if it's okay to open his eyes now long after Tylene has left.</p><p> </p><p> Rating: <span style="color:#A0522D;">41 (D-)</span></p><p> </p><p> DDP- Er...Venus's Notes: Um...unfortunately, Mr. Dallas was unable to c-comment on how the angle went. Apparently he's too busy laughing at the segment and how hysterical it was. So i'll give you my thoughts on it.</p><p> </p><p> I thought this was a very cute segment between the two as their relationship continues to blossom. I like how Chavo came across as the guy out of her league, trying desperately to win her affection. But Tylene, being the promiscuous woman she is decides that by getting with Chavo, she would be not only further his career but further her own career as well. Really, it's a win win situation for both parties involved and i'm really glad Mr. Dallas was able to book this segment for Thunder.</p><p> </p><p> </p><div style="text-align:center;"><img alt="VN2offU.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/VN2offU.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /> and <img alt="CaYDBCm.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/CaYDBCm.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /> vs <img alt="OEzwMFE.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/OEzwMFE.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="oDSKUTB.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/oDSKUTB.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></div><p></p><p></p><p> Really, this was a match designed to give the Bluebloods something to do. They don't have a match on the Big Bang and that may be unlikely to change as we get nearer to the date so it looks like they'll be scouring the tag team division for a little bit. Nonetheless, The Bluebloods were able to assert their dominance in a hard fought botu between the four competitors with Regal locking in a Regal Stretch on Konnan at 12:08.</p><p> </p><p> Rating: <span style="color:#FF8C00;">58 (C-)</span></p><p> </p><p> DDP's Notes: First off, i'd like to start by apologizing for going dark on you for a moment there. I knew the Chavo and Tylene segment was going to be funny: But I didn't think it was going to be THAT funny.</p><p> </p><p> Secondly, Juventud and Konnan revealed to have no chemistry whatsoever in this tag team match against The Bluebloods. I guess that's one pairing we won't be seeing again in WCW.</p><p> </p><p> Last but not least: Steven Regal was the best performer out of anyone in this match. He's a strong hand and he's given us many fine bouts over the years. Will he get a crack at the world title? Only God (and maybe the Queen herself) knows the answer.</p><p> </p><p> </p><div style="text-align:center;"><img alt="xoY5YeH.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/xoY5YeH.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="FjnEDo8.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/FjnEDo8.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p> We cut to backstage where Ric is calling Eddie on the phone, Ric tells Eddie that he's got his back tonight. Eddie thanks him for the offer, but he's unsure about it: Scott Hall is no joke he says, and he proved that during Nitro. Ric assures him that there is nothing to worry about and that you can trust Ric. Eddie then points out that no one can trust Ric, causing him to pause and think about what he should say next. He decides that this shall be the ONE TIME that he can trust him. Eddie gets the message and wishes him luck on his match against Scott. With the call over, Ric hangs up and prepares backstage. He knows what he has to do.</p><p> </p><p> Rating: <span style="color:#FFFF00;">70 (C+)</span></p><p> </p><p> DDP's Notes: Eddie was very underwhelming during this one, though I blame it on the fact that Eddie has rarely worked with such high profile talent as Ric and Scott. That said, Eddie did a good job improvising his lines; especially the part where no one could trust Ric. Ric however was on point the entire time, delivering some fantastic facial reactions and lines along to way. You can always count on Ric to do some good work on the mic and this is another example of that.</p><p> </p><p> </p><div style="text-align:center;"><img alt="lviwEBi.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/lviwEBi.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="sd6r1Cq.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/sd6r1Cq.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="TRGrXAv.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/TRGrXAv.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="lYmyrqC.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/lYmyrqC.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><p> </p></div><p></p><p></p><p> Kanyon comes out, looking as arrogant as ever. He announces that there's going to be something extra special about to happen here in WCW, for the first time ever: There would be a winter's lingerie contest! Basically, it's a lingerie contest in the winter; like how there are bikini contests in the summer. He calls out the following contestants, Torrie Wilson (who wears a fur coat to cover herself), Leia Meow (who seems to be sporting a new dominatrix styled look, complete with a black dress with a slit on the right leg. Sort of like what we saw in her vignette with Tajiri), and Daffney (who comes out with a top hat, a carrot and a white sheet).</p><p> </p><p> From there, it's your basic bikini contest for the winter months; the three ladies get an opportunity to strut their stuff in their winter lingerie and when they were finished, the audience would decide on a winner.</p><p> </p><p> Starting off was Torrie Wilson who opened up her fur coat to reveal an all white two piece that got the crowd going on a little frenzy as she posed to the camera. Leia Meow then took her shot and stood in the center of the ring and in an impressive display ripped off her dress and revealed a one piece complete with leggings. It was an sexy sight to see and the crowd seemed to enjoy that as well. Finally, it was Daffney's turn to reveal her choice of outfit and she took off the white sheet to reveal...</p><p> </p><p> A moldy white three piece? Kanyon interrupts Daffney and asks what she is wearing. Daffney answers bitterly by saying it's a three piece. The only she could find that was wintery enough. Kanyon shakes his head, commenting on how disappointing this was. He thought Daffney was a winter person, not an old lady. That got a few chuckles from the crowd and left Kanyon ready to ask the audience who the winner was. Was it Daffney? Judging from the boos she received: It was not.</p><p> </p><p> Would it be Leia Meow? The reaction she revealed seemed promising, even receiving a few wolf-whistles from some rather (ahem) special men in the audience. But in the end, Torrie managed to do out do her with a rousing applause from just about all the men. Kanyon called it unanimous and handed the win to an overjoyed Torrie Wilson, leaving Daffney to storm out of the ring in anger and Leia to look on in disappointment.</p><p> </p><p> Rating: <span style="color:#FF8C00;">54 (C-)</span></p><p> </p><p> DDP's Notes: Yet another historic moment for our beautiful Nitro Girls, also starring Kanyon who did not good without a script tonight. Thankfully, he was saved by some beautiful ladies.</p><p> </p><p> </p><div style="text-align:center;"><img alt="kJ71UwF.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/kJ71UwF.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="NFEfsBF.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/NFEfsBF.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /> vs <img alt="JlHrdwC.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/JlHrdwC.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /> and <img alt="9y3Kmpl.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/9y3Kmpl.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></div><p></p><p></p><p> In what was designed to be a squash match for Lex and Shane, the two veterans ran through the young duo of TJ and Teddy like they were nothing and picked up an easy win in 1:48 with a Military Press Slam from Lex.</p><p> </p><p> Rating: <span style="color:#A0522D;">39 (D-)</span></p><p> </p><p> DDP's Notes: Lex and Shane continue to struggle to work together as a tag team, not a good sign for them going forward. This time Lex managed to keep himself clean and remain the guy most dominate in the match. Looks like that talk we had was fresh in his mind.</p><p> </p><p> </p><div style="text-align:center;"><img alt="kJ71UwF.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/kJ71UwF.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="NFEfsBF.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/NFEfsBF.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p> Shane then demanded for some microphones and began to run down the opponents they just beat, telling the audience that they just learned all about what respect was. He then scolds the crowd for putting their faith and trust into two guys that had a history of being crooks not just in WCW, but their entire lives. Lex claimed that Harlem Heat had brainwashed the people into thinking that their way was the best way and no one else was right other than him. No more, at the Big Bash: They're going to prove that there's still hope for wrestling fans everywhere, because they're Grizzled and they're Chiseled.</p><p> </p><p> Rating: <span style="color:#F4A460;">61 ©</span></p><p> </p><p> DDP's Notes: A much better promo from the two as they seemed a lot more confident on the mic and going off-script. Both gave off the impression of two angry veterans looking to teach the wrestling world about respecting their elders and that's what I want from them going forward. Whether or not they can keep this up is going to be up to them.</p><p> </p><p> </p><div style="text-align:center;"><img alt="xoY5YeH.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/xoY5YeH.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /> vs <img alt="OVwh7IO.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/OVwh7IO.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p> Ric Flair and Scott Hall had history before from fighting in the days of the NWO, but those days were long since over and now they were simply fighting in defense of Eddie Guerrero. Ric and Scott worked a close battle with both stars garnering some crucial moments that could've tipped the match to either person. But it wasn't until Scott had Ric reeling that the beginning of the end came. However, as Scott would find out: It was not for Ric. It was for him!</p><p> </p><p> </p><div style="text-align:center;"><img alt="FjnEDo8.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/FjnEDo8.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p> Despite being banged up and limping, Eddie had somehow made his way to the Desert Sun Stadium and was now staring down Scott. Scott looked incredulous as he saw the face of his rival, feeling that he had put him out of his misery! This was the moment that gave Ric the right to capitalize and at 17:53 he had Scott tapping out to the Figure Four.</p><p> </p><p> Rating: <span style="color:#006400;">72 (B-)</span></p><p> </p><p> DDP's Notes: This was a fun match between two legends who could still go in the ring and a much needed jolt to a feud that's been slightly disappointing up to this point. Such is the power of the Nature Boy i'd say. Scott also worked clean tonight, a pleasant sight to see.</p><p> </p><p> </p><div style="text-align:center;"><img alt="kJ71UwF.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/kJ71UwF.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="FjnEDo8.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/FjnEDo8.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p> Having picked up the win, Eddie and Ric come face to face with each other. Ric then does his patented 'WOO!' and then points at Eddie to come join him. Eddie isn't sure at first, but Ric tries to convince him to go for it. The fans also want to see Eddie try it out as Ric points out. Finally giving into the response...</p><p> </p><div style="text-align:center;"><p>.</p><p> .</p><p> .</p><p> .</p></div><p></p><p></p><p> Eddie belts out a long, excited, spine-chilling 'WOO!' to send the fans home happy.</p><p> </p><p> Rating: <span style="color:#FF8C00;">56 (C-)</span></p><p> </p><p> DDP's Notes: Behold! A new friendship doth been born on this day. On a more serious note, this was a fine way to leave on a happy note and get fans excited for what may come next for the two.</p><p> </p><p> Final Rating: <span style="color:#006400;">76 (B-)</span></p><p> </p><p> DDP's Thoughts: This was our best show thus far, and a part of it can come from the fact that we had two good matches from me and Bryan and Ric and Scott. Also boosting the show were some great promos from me, Ric, Eddie, Grizzled and Chiseled and of course Bret Hart. And the best part was that no one was working ragged tonight! Overall, a great night for us and a big answer to those who thought WCW was down in the dumps.</p><p> </p><p> Highlights: DDP vs Brian Adams, DDP's Promo, Ric Flair vs Scott Hall, Bret Hart, Chavo and Tylene, Improvements in Grizzled and Chiseled, Nitro Girls Winter Lingerie contest. No one worked intoxicated or drugged!</p><p> </p><p> Lowlights: No chemistry between Juventud and Konnan, Kanyon's disappointing improv.</p><p> </p></div></blockquote>

Happy days seemed to finally among the DDP regime, Thunder had been a great show overall and received a 3.94 rating. To make matters better, Tammy was now an official part of the roster (With her boyfriend scheduled to be by the day after). Around the bend, it seemed that everyone was feeling a lot more hopeful for the future of WCW.

KDqc87Z.jpg28fZfV8.jpg

I also caught wind of a friendly discussion over the prospects of Berlyn. Bret argued that Berlyn had yet to really wow anyone on the mic and sighted this as the reason for some of his shortcomings, Arn didn't disagree with him on that: But he also felt that Berlyn was showing potential the ring and with time could be a good asset to the company. Both men made some good arguments, not going to lie.

yAypFui.jpg

Terry also came up to me as I entered the office, he mentioned how Kanyon got poked on a little by some of the boys for his lackluster performance tonight. I wasn't surprised, when you mess up: You're bound to be called out on it. Terry did say he took it well and suggested I try not to let this hurt him in the future as he felt Kanyon had a lot to give in WCW.

"Yeah, sure. You wanna know who doesn't?" Shane exclaims from out of nowhere. Intrigued, I asked him who didn't have what it took.

"That second Headhunter! They're both crap, but I tell you. You can't tell me he was no selling a good portion of those moves out there. I'm telling you Dallas, you oughta fire both these guys and find some better folks to work the pre-show." Shane ranted on and on about the two headhunters and their incapabilities of selling. At least they were better than say Ron Killings was.

SrEA1VS.jpg

As I entered my office, I saw Venus looking a lot more chipper than she usually was. "Sounds like someone's got a bit of pep in their step." I said. "I'm just so happy you finally got a good show on your belt Mr. Dallas!" She squealed, finally getting over the hump was rewarding for all of us. Didn't mean we were back on track, but this was at least a good start. "Amen Venus. Amen."

Once I began to plan the matches for the final Nitro before the Big Bang (Which had begun to catch on with the locker-room as 'the world rebuilder'), I told Venus that Scott and Lex had earned a $15,000 bonus for not getting drugged out during their matches yesterday. Given how Scott had been treated since I got here, this was especially good news for him. Lex however was over the moon over hearing about the raise and was seen high-fiving his tag team partner Shane. I smiled, it was nice to see that the two stayed true to my concerns. But I was prepared for their eventual relapse.

Having finished booking Nitro early, I decided to call over Venus to my desk. She skipped on over, still smiling brightly asking if there was anything she could do. "As a matter of fact, there is." I said and she awaited my official command. "I would like for you...

To rewatch that Chavo and Tylene segment with me again."

"Absolutely Mr. Dallas!" She exclaimed and she went to get the tape of the recording of yesterday's Thunder from the video library which, coincidentally was next to the big screen TV. Yes my office has a big-screen TV. Doesn't everyone's?. And it was there I noticed...things...a few...relatively...minor...things...

God damn it. She looks almost like a younger version of my wife. Look at those legs. I mean, Stacy's got legs the length of a rattlesnake; but she gives her a run for her money. How does she manage to keep her figure in spite of the business suit? And the skirt...Why does it always seem like they're getting shorter these days?

"You ready Mr. Dallas?" She asked, and immediately the fantasizing is over. After realizing where it is i'm looking at, I jump up, startled. I was looking at the back of my own secretary...and I was loving it. What in god's name was wrong with me? Damn near giving me a heart attack. "Are y-you alright Mr. Dallas?" She asked again, showing some concern over my behavior. I clear my throat, calming myself down. "Yes Venus, yes I am."

The segment of Chavo and Tylene plays and Venus comes to bring her chair over to my desk and sits down next to me. And we laughed and laughed the entire time over this segment. Even as a little voice told me that maybe I should try to NOT lust over my secretary.

Grizzled and Chiseled vs Parka & Kaz

Comment: I would be shocked if they lost clean. Maybe the Harlem Heat interferes, but I don't see it. Glad to La Parka get a match though as the CW division has been pushed to the side early on for the tournament matches.

Buff Bagwell vs Jim Duggan

Comment: This itsn't the late 80s and early 90s. Duggan isn't going to be getting many wins. Bagwell wins easily as Duggan continues to job out.

Tournament Semifinal: Bret Hart vs Jeff Jarrett

Comment: So we got screwed out of Bret vs Flair. This match will not be as good, but I see Bret advancing easily.

Tournament Semifinal: Chris Benoit vs Scott Steiner

Comment: Benoit has to win, although Scott Steiner is the bigger star. Storyline is set up that Benoit has to make it to the finals unless Russo doesn't want him to make it. Hopefully we get Bret vs. Benoit in the finals.

BONUS: A former WCW world champion is making a special appearance in this show! Who is it going to be? Randy Savage. Saw him as an Occasional Wrestler. Looking forward and hope he grabs a match at Big Bang.

Sid actually held the WCW world title twice.... sorta. In fashion typical for WCW in this era, it was a cluster-show of bad booking. Sid beat nash, who was Commissioner, who then said the #1 contender match that got Sid the title show wasn't valid so Sid had the title stripped, then won it again in a threeway.
