Orlando Magic: 1992-???

Back again with another dynasty, this time with another Florida team. With a rookie Shaquile O'Neal and a great supporting cast of young talent, the sky is the limit for this team. Beginning this year, we are immediately going to try and compete for a playoff appearance, potentially going for a championship ring.

Going to need to find a backup shooting guard as well as a power forward. I like this lineup, Anderson and Scott will be great as the second and third scoring options after Shaq. Planning to surround Shaq with lots of shooters, so a stretch four (if available) could be a great pickup. Scott Skiles, one of the best passers in the NBA, will be huge in Shaq's development and I think Anthony Bowie will be the perfect 6th man and may close some games for us.

By the All Star Break, it looks like we have already secured ourselves a spot in the playoffs with a record of 26-22, 6 games ahead of the 9th seed Miami Heat. However, our record took a hit in January as our second leading scorer, Nick Anderson missed eleven games with patellar tendinitis and then a sprained ankle immediately upon returning. I'd like to make some moves to improve our spot in the playoffs, to hopefully get home court advantage. Our defense must improve if we are to make a deep run; hopefully Shaq will be able to anchor our defense for years to come. We also need to improve our 3 point shooting. We have a few good shooters, but I'd like to get some more off of the bench.

Shaq is having an incredible rookie campaign, putting up MVP caliber numbers every single night and having a dominant impact whenever he is on the floor. He is also doing it on absurd efficiency, leading the NBA in field goal percentage at over 60% from the floor. Second to only David Robinson in scoring, the rookie big man hardly needs any help on offense, although Nick Anderson is putting up a great 19 points per game.

Very happy with this trade- we acquire three starter quality players, one of them being someone who can score 40 on any given night and further space the floor for Shaq. Higgins can be a legitimate backup forward for us and Causwell is a young, cheap big who has the potential to grow into a defensive anchor for the team when O'Neal is off the floor.

1993 Regular Season Recap

With a 22-10 record following our deadline trades for Mitch and the other bench pieces, our team substantially improved in the second half of the year. However, even with 48 wins, the Eastern Conference was just too good to put us in the upper echelon of playoff teams- we earned ourselves the 7th seed and a first round matchup against the Philadelphia 76ers, a team that I feel very confident against. Winning their division, they somehow clinched the 2nd seed over three 50 win teams, a lucky break for us. With no quality big man defenders, Shaq will look to have a massive series and Mitch will go head to head with Philly's all star scorer, Hershey Hawkins.
