DAVEFAN95 Posted May 17, 2018 Share Posted May 17, 2018 What exactly is "Rock Bottom"? Well, there isn't an easy answer for that. For everybody, it's different. It could be a number of things, being unemployed, not having enough money, committing crimes but for me, it was my addiction. Look, I know what you expect me to say. "I can't live without wrestling" and yada, yada, yada but the truth is, wrestling isn't my addiction, it's painkillers. Addiction isn't just having that one last drink or drag or pill over and over again without ever really quitting. It' s much more than that. It's when your brain makes you think you are doing something for a particular reason when in actuality, you're doing it for an entirely different reason that you never realised, that is an addiction. That you can convince yourself that everything you do is because you want to, not because it fills an unnecessary need. It's damning really, that your brain is as powerful as it is. People say that we as people have free will, but I don't believe that. We all do the things we do for a reason and sometimes it's for a good reason and sometimes it's for a bad reason, but there's always a reason, always. We don't just get up in the morning and decide what we'll do out of the goodness of our hearts, we need to know we'll get something back. That's why I set up my own wrestling company. I told myself a thousand times over I was doing it for the right reasons and I wasn't. I did so many things that I regret because of this one thing and I've never been able to forgive myself for it, and that's what I am writing right now. I told myself something that wasn't true and it affected so much around me and I couldn't see it. So this is my story.... This is how I hit Rock Bottom. After I talked to Johnny, the meeting with Mitch came soon after, I wasn't hugely into asking Mitch for anything, just some tips. I had picked Tommy Cornell's brain in the past about this, so I guess this was more about finding whats appealing to a PSW sort of crowd then a TCW one. I didn't stay long talking to Mitch. This wasn't exactly something useful for him, just doing a favour. "So, anything else you want to discuss?" "Yeah, one thing. A working agreement? Any chance you and I could help each other out?" Long story short he rejected me, at least at that point. Having owned a company I guess I see where he was coming from at the time. Mitch is a business man before he's a friend but he's a real nice guy, eventually everybody has good things to say about him and I am no different. It took a while, the problem is, I've cause him a lot of pain since that first meeting, he probably regrets it to no end now, but looking back on it now, things could have been so much different, and a lot better for both Mitch and Boone if they had never met me. UCW Ultimate Championship Tournament Madman Boone v Sayeed Ali This match, this is the only match i have my doubts with, even the mathces of the next rounds that will need the winner of this match, i still think that those results would happen with either of this two going into next round, so lets dig deep into this match, this could have been a Main event by itself, two great hardcore wrestlers, Madman is a good wrestler, he is not Tommy Cornell, but he is a wrestler that can hold his own weight in the ring, 21 years in the business, are said very fast, but is a good accomplishment, former 2 times Regional Champion of Pittsburgh, the last being less than 2 years ago, former 2 time Total Championship Wrestling World Hardcore Champion, being one of the faces of the division, and a former 1 time Total Championship Wrestling International Heavyweight Champion, probably by level of company and title, the most prestigious title he ever held, before he was transitioned to the hardcore division, he is 39, probably a couple of years past his prime, but not old enough to be declining yet, his body seems to be in a transition face, but i think if he isnt already on the list, he could be one year to year and a half away from being in time decnline but untli that happens he is still one of your top draws, a name most people would know, to go watch your shows; Sayeed Ali, to this level he is an Excellent wrestler, again he isn't Cornell, but still one heck of a wrestler, 11 years as a wrestler, that isnt something to sneeze at, and more at his age, he has the experience and is at the Prime of his career, former 3 times, Regional Champion of Ontario, the only title he has held to date, but for almost then years he has established himself at the top flight of the company, he is 29, 10 years younger than his opponent, a wrestler in his prime, Im still surprised he hasnt been picked up by any of the Canadian Two, and probably they wont wait much longer, the most probable being CGC, with its roster being raided by NOTBPW, signing anyone with a single bit of technical ability, and the American big 3 trying to fill their lower card, CGC will have to look into the independent scene in Canada; now why I'm choosing Boone, is simple we see this guy that is in his prime, that has a lot of ability, that is young, that fit your product, and is American, but we forget that he has made his entire career in Canada, yes his name has been dropped in the US here and there, probably his biggest American appearance bing his participation in the 2013 Rip Chord Invitational of MAW, look im not saying he wont be champion some day, im not saying he wont be a big deal in UCW, maybe if he had been in any other match, except with harry allen, I would have passed him automaticallyto semifinals, but only Boone or Allen would have more reason to pass than him, I will explain this better at the main event, but for now, you just have to know, that in this moment in time there are some issues at hand that he maybe not the adequate to face, I know I may be wrong, I feel very mixed with this result, but im sticking by it. UCW Ultimate Championship Tournament Hugh de Aske v Harry Allen Man, this sounds like a great match, not anythig that would main event a show but still a good match, this is a perfect match to go see in a Regional show in the middle of the card, and you would go home happy having enjoyed it, so lets see the participants, Hugh de Aske, I love this guy, I discoverd him while watching some British and Europen independents (playing in Scotland as SNP, and I also used him in a game as ROF), I feel he is pretty close to hitting his prime at the beggining of the year, he is a very solid wrestler, very young 6 years in the business at 27, and a former 3 times Ontario Hardcore Champion, one of only 3 people two hold the championship 3 times, problem, the same than Sayeed Ali, he might have grown in Boston but he has made his entire career in Canada, he has decent popularity there, and he is also known in the british independent scene, but he is even less known than Ali in the US, the biggest upside is that popularity can be built, where ability he already has, so I see how he could turn out to be a star, and im certainly his fan; Harry Allen, man Harry Allen, what a wrestler, I will never understand why he was released by TCW, more now that they are being raided by every company bigger than them, they are in this face where they can take the independent stars, and make them superstars just to be taken away by the 2 Behemots of America, the Technical Canadians, the 2 japanese giants, the british monopoly, and their closest rivals the Mexicans, they are in direct competition about wrestling in the border, they could use a reliable body as Allen in their roster, probably the biggest casualty of the cutting of the cruiserweight division that just left him wandering the midcard, but hey their loss your gain, maybe the only 2 bad things about him, is that even if he is a decent wrestling, I dont feel his wrestling style fits this company and his age, 38 years, he is younger than boone so i can surely say he isnt yet on decline, but he already is past his prime, probably 2 or 3 years before he goes on decline, but his age brings with him very needed experience for your company, 20 years in the business, 17 of them he spent them in the second (now third) biggest company in america, at the top flight of the cruiserweight division and a reliable midcard, and his achievements shouldnt be forgotten, a former 4 times One half of the Total Championship Wrestling World Cruiserweight Tag Team Champions, he being one of only six people to hold those championships and being the most time champion, former 2 times Total Championship Wrestling World Cruiserweight Champion, wher he was one of the faces of the division and only one of seven to hold it and one of four to hold it more than one time, former 3 times Total Championship Wrestling All Action Champion, I never understood this title it seemed like a bad attempt to capture the magic of the cruiserweight division but also use middlewieights midcarders that weren't doing anything, making the whole division pointless and a former 1 time One Half of the Total Championship Wrestling World Tag Team Champions, being that the most prestigious title he ever held and where in a pretty good program with Hill and Anderson, who are two of my favorite workers; at this point in time Allen is your most recognisable worker, that could carry the main event, lackking a little of hardcore experience would be the only problem, and he has a better shot than de Aske, as he has never worked for a professional US company. UCW Ultimate Championship Tournament Conner Johnson (Conner Threepwood) v Sgt Bubba Lee West Compared to some of the matchups this is a little underwhelming, but i know not all matches have to be an spectacle, it feels like a predictable match (watch as i get it wrong), and Conner will have to carry the match, simple as that, Conner Johnson, a good performer, better known for his technical abilities, he hasnt been proved in a hardcoere enviroment, but his tehcinal abilities wont be a detriment for him, still young 29 years of age, just in his prime, having been in the business 11 years, 7 of which he spent them in the Canadian giants NOTBPW, i've seen a pattern of a few wrestlers that made themselves in Canada, he also is american although he has never wrestled in america, still he has good popularity and is backed by his pedigree of technical wrestling and his Canadian popularity, lastly but not less important, a former 3 times One half of the North of The Border Pro Wrestling Canadian Tag Team Champions, although NOTBPW are the leading Canadian promoyion they havent changed their championship status to World Titles, being recognized then only in Canada, is not known if is is by their own decision the lack of change of status, or if theres something prohibiting them from doing the change, ironically their rivals in the West, CGC have recognized World titles in their Top singles and tag divisions causing a title recognized as a World championship, be less prestigious than a National Championship; Sergeant Bubba Lee West, former Sergeant in the Army, but has seen been dismissed and began wrestling, he will be appreciated by his service to his country, but his wrestling career not so much, somewhat old 38 years, but young enough to not be in decline, but he has passed his prime, having jusy been wrestling for 7 years he entered the business already somewhat late, he couldnt hava a large prime, not a good wrestler but seems half decent in hardcore stuff, he hasnt worked for any recognized company being this his first chance, has decent popularity, but his bad attitude could caise this chance not to last; although more popular then Conner, West has more downs than ups, and even being less popular, Conner still has the resume to refuse to lose to him. UCW Ultimate Championship Tournament Rayne/Smooth v Boone/Ali Greg Rayne vs Madman Boone, with this being a 8 man tournament is common to see this reliable guy make it to the semifinals, but here is where we separate real stars from men, I have high hopes from Rayne, but with a name as Boone at the other side of the ring, I see him having to do the job, but I think this could be apretty good match, and I hope it doesnt dissaponts, I feel that we my predictions is pretty obvious who will go to the finals, ot of the semis, but sometimes the predictable final is predictable, because is the best option, so good tournament from Rayne, made it as far as he could, Boone goes to have a chance to the championhsip in the final. UCW Ultimate Championship Tournament de Aske/Allen v Johnson/West Harry Allen vs Conner Johnson, this match could be a very technical match, very Aerial and flashy, I dont know how the fans will react to it, I hope it doesnt flops this two have a chance to put match off the night, thinking they can put a better match than Boone, again Conner is in the Rayne position, he just is a little bit better, but his Pop will cause him to be left in the semifinal, but again good tournament, and good luck to Allen in the final UCW Ultimate Championship Tournament Rayne/Smooth/Boone/Ali v de Aske/Allen/Johnson/West Madman Boone vs Harry Allen, here it is the main event, this are the two more recognisable names of these beggining promotion, and im sure that the fans expected to see this match in the finals, when they payed for their tickets, and is alright you have to use your big names popularity to attract the fans to your first show, knowing you dont have that reputation to pull them just because of the company, my only fear is that these guys are in the older side of the spectrum, and having had two matches each before in the night, and having to do a third, i fear they could be exhausted and will not put a match to standard or would do a very slow paced match, but other than that im excited for that match, this 2 began almost at the same time in TCW and began their prime there, i dont think they have crossed paths yet, even with all those years working in the same company, but I still think thy can pull of a good match, altohugh Boone will have the advantage with the Hardcore stipulation but, I have my reasons to call the upset and why we are seeing the cruiserweight aerial technician beating the hardcore Icon in a Hardcore match, and this is what I was taliking about on the first match, not necesarily the best wrestler or the must soothed for the championship will win, we cannot forget this is a wrestling company and to survive it has to make profit, you need to attract people and the way to do this is having a name most people will recognize at the top of the company, and although Boone has been working in the Northeast coast, for some years the one who must recently was on TV programming was Allen and this shows in their little difference in popularity, this two are the most known workers and this main event would attract more people, I know for a fact than sooner rather than later we will see Boone and Ali with the championship, but if they are going to have the chance to do it, UCW needs to survive, and to survive needs the publicity stunt champion that can attract more people. DAVEFAN95 Posted June 1, 2018 Author Share Posted June 1, 2018 Before I go off and ramble, these little post show "chats" will basically me explaining anything about the show that pops into my head, nothing to do with behind the curtain posts which will stand alone. Anywho.... So, why Greg Rayne in the finals other than Boone or even CJ? Mainly narrative reasons, but I do like Rayne. I think I hold him in higher regard than his skills deserve. Boone is going to be used for something else and CJ, well, as much as I like him too, I just think I have something for Rayne that I may not have for CJ, though I liked his promo, built up the perfect kind of character I wanted for him. So, yeah, Allen's a heel, all will be explained next show but I like this idea, a lot actually and I have no regrets about the first show. Though looking back on it, I could've had a bigger return on an Allen v Ali or Allen v Boone final. Then again hindsight is 20/20. My MVP? Wrestler would be Ali, he performed the best tonight over his four segments. All round, gotta give it to Nicole Kiss. She really helped with those promo's with that Sex Appeal. I feel, especially in UCW, that backstage interviewers should be based on Sex Appeal as that's the product. In my opinion, backstage interviewers shouldn't be rated on anything unless they add to the segment. Take mean Gene, probably the best interviewer of all time, because of the flow he had and general ability to look interested and make the worker stand out. Something that the backstage announcers nowadays don't do, they just recite scripted lines and don't add or takeaway from the segment, they're basically there to ask the question. So, unless you're a Jenny Playmate or Dharma Gregg and have the charisma to add something to an interview, I usually have them down as not rated or Sex Appeal. Maybe that's me "cheating" the mechanics, but I don't think it is nor do I care. Also, thanks to XMultiGames for the awesome analysis on the tournament. Was incredibly interesting to read your thoughts about workers before the show was up. Also, also, thanks to KnowYourEnemy for the C-Verse DOTM nomination, after a long time away from the boards and coming back with two new diaries, It was nice to know my writing hadn't gone completely to the dogs, so I'm very flattered and very appreciative for the nomination. UCW Valentines Day Massacre UCW Ultimate Championship Title Harry Allen v Greg Rayne or Madman Boone Harry Allen will face Greg Rayne for the UCW Ultimate Championship once again at Vantines Day Massacre, that is, if he can make it. Madman Boone has stated he will step in for Rayne if he can't make it but after the crazy beating Allen and Ford gave him at the tournament, is it really even worth believing Rayne will show up? Then again Boone was in hospital himself when he made these comments after Ali beat him up, whose to say Allen will have an opponent at all. Hugh de Aske v Sayeed Ali Both these men fell victim to one of the two finalists in the tournament last time out. However, Ali probably made the bigger impact, not only making it a round further than de Aske but also beating hardcore legend Madman Boone to a pulp. Can de Aske live with the violent nature of Ali? Conner Johnson v Ford Gumble Conner Johnson didn't fall victim to Ford's heinous attack at Ultimate Challenge 1, even when he had Allen in trouble. That being said, Johnson isn't one to give in just because his opponent has a friend, but with Ford's actions, he shouldn't underestimate him either. OOC. Ford Gumble; poor Ford, the last 10 years of his career have been a downwhirl spiral, and thats a shame, because in his day he was a pretty good worker, and I have to admit it, he still is a decent one,but even as decent as he is his style isnt the core style of the company, lets see how much that holds him back, I rememeber that I said that Harry Allen was the biggest casualty of the disbanding of the Cruiserweight Division, because his career began to lack sense without an specific goal, thats why they were good in the Cruiserweight Division, adn never got back to the leves he once had, but in a short term basis probably the one who so his career crumbled quicklier was Ford Gumble, he literally became a jobber as TCW booking comitee didnt have anything planned for him, he was part of the debacle that was the All Action division, then worked there 4 years more, before being declared surplus from the company, while his tag team partner stayed there 6 years more, in that time he has been unheard in the wrestling business, he gained a little of weight, but it seems as more because his physic became poor as he didnt trained as hard as before, now he isnt the lightweight that shook the tag ranks with Allen, but with a little of time to reacustom to training and a little encouragement from the bosses he might be able to return to his former self, equally to Allen he is 38 Years old, and he has 20 years of wrestling expereince, of those 20, 12 of them were in the second (now third) biggest company in america, at the top flight of the cruiserweight tag team division and a reliable cruiserweight single, was never given a chance outside his comfort zone and used as a jobber in his last years there, but even with all the bad stuff his achievements shouldnt be overlooked, a former 4 times One half of the Total Championship Wrestling World Cruiserweight Tag Team Champions, he being one of only six people to hold those championships and being the most time champion along with Harry Allen all the times, former 1 time Total Championship Wrestling World Cruiserweight Champion, where he was one of the faces of the division and only one of seven to hold the title, although he only did it once, and a former 1 time One Half of the Total Championship Wrestling World Tag Team Champions, being that the most prestigious title he ever held and where in a pretty good program with Hill and Anderson, who are two of my favorite workers;
