As the GCW intro plays we go to Gordon Solie at ringside hyping up today’s card. After a quick intro we head to the ring.</div>

<div style="text-align:center;">Even though Horner is a very solid opponent, Ken Patera is still in what most can agree to be the prime of his career. Horner Tried to execute a second rope crossbody but Patera caught him like Don Mattingly would catch a baseball. Patera crushed Horner with several backbreakers before letting him hit the ground. Patera then maneuvers Horner into a full nelson position and executes his swinging neckbreaker for the duke.</div>

There’s a lot of wrestlers in this tournament that are supposedly great wrestlers, but how many of them are former Olympic Medalist? How many of them can say they are the World’s Strongest Man? NONE! So Georgia get ready, cause you’re looking at the next champ!”</div>

Koko B. Ware vs Mr. Wrestling #2

Ware spent a little too much time running his jaw to the crowd than paying attention to Jimmy Carter’s mother’s favorite wrestler. While this match couldn’t main event Starcade ‘87, the Georgia fans are always into it whenever Mr. Wrestling 2 is in the ring. 2 wins with his million dollar knee lift.

Winner: Mr. Wrestling #2

Gordon Solie: “Ladies and Gentleman another victory for Mr. Wrestling 2.”

2: “Well thank you Gordon but I have my mind on more than just winning one match. My mind is on one thing, and that is the NWA National Heavyweight Title. Winning that title puts you on the path to winning the world title. I have had a very successful career Gordon, but without that World Title I will never consider myself a complete success.”

“Crusher” Jerry Blackwell vs Ricky Fields

While Fields is a very fine wrestler, and is part of the biggest family in the history of professional wrestling, he is no match for Jerry Blackwell. Blackwell dismantles Fields to a point where Gordon Solie even remarks that the ref should maybe think about stopping the match. Blackwell finally finishes off Fields with a splash.

Winner: Jerry Blackwell

After the match Blackwell splashes Fields three more times and then picks him and and powerslams him! The 500 pound Blackwell starts to climb up onto the top rope and Wahoo McDaniels runs out!!

Blackwell hops down and runs to the back while the Chief checks on Fields.

Gordon Solie: “Thankfully Wahoo McDaniels was watching from the back and was able to get out here before anyone was hurt to severely. Ladies and Gentleman I know you have heard several wrestlers talk about it but may not have been formally made aware of the NWA National Heavyweight Title Tournament. That will be taking place this weekend at The Omni in Atlanta Georgia. Let’s take a look at the wrestlers on the card.”

Solie: “Again ladies and gentleman that is this Monday at the Omni in Atlanta. Plus In the feature main event of the evening you will see Alexis Smirnoff & Ivan Koloff face Lars Anderson and an unannounced partner for the NWA Georgia Tag Titles.”

Dick Slater vs Kevin Sullivan

This is a matchup between two up and comers of the NWA and we see an excellent match that starts with both of these men shaking hands. Early in the match both men try moves but they are countered. However, those counters are countered by counters of their own as these two seem to be pulling out all the stops in this match. Sullivan goes for a collar and elbow tie up but Slater takes the wind out of his sails by delivering a short knee into the midsection of Sullivan. Slater then delivers multiple elbows to Sullivan to take him down to the mat and all of a sudden this has become a fight instead of a wrestling match. Slater has Sullivan in the corner and charges in but Sullivan moves and Slater crashes into the turnbuckle hard! Sullivan picks him up and executes a body slam! Sullivan goes up to the second rope and comes down with a knee drop…. Pin Fall

Sullivan gets up thinking he has won the match with his hands in the air. Ref Scrappy McGowan throws down the arms of Sullivan and gives the call to Freddie Miller.

Slater is now standing up and Sullivan reaches out to shake his hand….. Slater walks away!

The Russians (Alexis Smirnoff & Ivan Koloff) vs Bill Dromo and Scott McGhee

The Russians show the people of the Peach State why they are their Tag Team Champions. Koloff picks up the duke for his team with the BearHug on McGhee. However, Dromo did have a somewhat impressive hot tag during the contest.

The Russians come over to Gordon Solie and Ivan Koloff is immediately yelling about Lars Anderson.

Koloff: “Why does no one like Lars Anderson? Why does he have no friends? Because he is a gutless pig American who is not half the man or athlete that we are. Alexi Smirnoff and Ivan Koloff are here to stay for as long as we want to stay. Lars Anderson will show up to the Omni with no partner because nobody wants to be his friend….. And if he does have a partner I feel sorry for the punishment they will receive!”

Tony Atlas vs Raymond Rougeau

Both of these men will later go on to become very successful tag team wrestlers but for right now they are in singles competition. Atlas starts the match by being outwrestled by Rougeau, however once Atlas gets ahold of the young French-Canadian it is all over. Atlas picks up the victory with a big jumping headbutt following by a military press slam.

Winner: Tony Atlas

Solie: “I have with me now Mr. USA Tony Atlas.”

Atlas: “Ya know a lot of people ask me why I call myself Mr. USA. That is because I am a former winner of the Mr. USA Bodybuilding competition. That makes me one of the strongest and most in shape individuals in the world. Gordon I have two big tasks on my plate coming up. First, I will be in the NWA National Heavyweight Tournament. Second, I will come out here on tv next week and bench press 650 pounds.”

Atlas wraps up the interview by saying how much he loves his fans and will need their support at the Omni.

A video then plays hyping the appearance of Abdullah The Butcher, Killer Khan, and Andre The Giant coming to the Omni.

Terry Funk vs Chic Donovan

Funk starts off the match by charging after the Golden Boy, but Donovan uses his intelligence and gets out of the way before he can hit him. Funk eventually gets to him and starts working on the neck of Chic to set up the piledriver. Donovan starts to make a comeback and throws Funk off of the ropes, he goes for a backdrop but Funk’s counter shows why he is a former Worlds Champion. He put on the brakes and delivers a neckbreaker to Chic Donovan.

Winner: Terry Funk

Solie: “Ladies and Gentlemen coming out here now is a man you have all grown to love…. Wildfire Tommy Rich.”

Rich: “SOMEBODY SAY SOMETHIN’ BOUT NWA NATIONAL TITLE TOURNAMENT!! Ya know Gordon every time I come out here I not only love getting to talk to all these nice people watching at home, but I also like lookin at all these pretty Georgia peaches sitting in the crowd….”

Terry Funk has walked over to the podium

Funk: “Gordon I know this is my time and I would like to know why this tall glass of water is standing out here at the podium on MY time.”

Solie: “Mr. Funk you do have an interview later in the program but right now you are interrupting Tommy Rich’s interview time.”

Rich: “That’s okay Gordon if Mr. Funk is that upset he can have….”

Funk: “Listen here you slimy little puke you do not talk while I am talking….. I am a former Worlds Champion… that means I am one of the best in the world…. You are not even the best wrestler in Georgia. I am only leaving this podium because I do not want to waste my time teaching a puke like you a lesson….”

Funk walks away angry and Gordon and Tommy look at each other with blank stares.

Lars Anderson vs Frank Morrell

The French Angel is giving Lars Anderson everything he has in the TV match. Lars Anderson is making a comeback and catches Morrell with a body slam out of nowhere! Lars is out of breath and is leaning on the ropes when Ivan Koloff comes out and grabs Lars and ties him up in the ropes! Smirnoff comes out from the other side, climbs in the ring and takes off running at Anderson with the russian chain but Lars moves and he blasts Ivan!! Ivan goes crashing down onto the concrete floor and Lars throws Smirnoff over the top! Anderson turns around to Morrell swinging the chain at him but he ducks and school boys Morrell for the 1...2...3!!!

Winner: Lars Anderson

Lars walks over to Gordon Solie to give a promo.

Lars: “Smirnoff and Koloff get ready because while your surprise backfired mine won’t when I bring my mystery partner to the Omni!!”

“Wildfire” Tommy Rich vs Ray Candy

Ray Candy is putting on an excellent performance against Tommy Rich as we are closing in on the 10 minute time limit and Candy is in complete control. Candy throws Rich into the corner and splashes him! Candy hits him with a couple of headbutts and then throws him into the opposite corner and goes charging in but Wildfire moves!!

The crowd starts chanting “Fire it up Wildfire Fire it up!!”

Rich catches Candy with a big right hand….. And another one! And another one!! Rich then hits Candy with a big elbow before trying to throw Candy off of the ropes but it’s reversed and Rich comes back to a big clothesline from Candy but it’s ducked and Rich catches Candy in the Sleeper Hold!!!!

Candy looks like he’s about to pass out when Terry Funk comes in with a chair!! He bashes it over the head of Tommy Rich!! Rich goes down in the center of the ring and Funk is taunting the crowd. Funk screams over to Gordon Solie “OH I’m sorry, am I interrupting something?” And then delivers a big right hand into the forehead of Tommy Rich. Funk then picks up Rich and piledrives him right onto the chair!! Several wrestlers from the back come out and Funk heads to the back.

Final Show Grade: B+

The Omni Atlanta, Georgia Attendance: 7,887 *To start off thanks to everyone reading. I hope you guys become invested enough to read and give your thoughts because that will make me want to write more. Also, I have fixed the picture issue. I am not very tech literate but am trying my best. Miller also states that the Finals of the tournament will take place at the next Omni event. Andre falls to his knees and Patera throws the chair out of the ring then proceeds to beat on Andre the Giant. The bell rings and we are underway. Patera is keeping Andre on his knees by using kicks and punches. Patera is really focusing on the neck of Andre to wear him down for the Swinging Neck Breaker. Patera runs off of the ropes and kicks Andre right in the back of the neck. Patera then tries to get his arms around Andre’s arms to get him in position for the Swinging Neck Breaker but it does not work, Andre is too large! Andre is working his way up to his feet and blocks one of Patera’s punches then headbutts him! The Superstar goes for his big swinging clothesline but Mr. Wrestling 2 moves and Superstar goes crashing into the turnbuckle! 2 is setting up for his Million Dollar Knee Lift and as he comes charging The Masked Superstar throws the referee in the way and 2 almost hits him but holds up at the last second. The Masked Superstar gets behind Mr. Wrestling 2 and executes his Cobra Clutch!!! <img alt="EmKQnPO.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/EmKQnPO.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /> Winner: Masked Superstar </div></blockquote> <blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="45426" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div>Killer Khan vs Dick Slater Slater is taking off his ring jacket when he is attacked by Killer Khan!! Khan starts hitting Slater with vicious mongolian style chops. Khan throws Slater off of the ropes and goes for a clothesline but Slater ducks and rebounds with a flying forearm smash! But Khan just stumbles backwards…. Slaters runs off of the ropes and hits him with another flying forearm smash!! But Khan is still just stumbling. Slater climbs up to the second rope and is signaling to the crowd that he’s going for a third forearm! Slater comes off the ropes but is smacked by the size 14 boot of Killer Khan as he caught him with the big boot! Slater crashes to the canvas. Sullivan has the fans behind him as at this point Terry Funk’s mother would have a hard time taking his side on his recent actions. Sullivan seems to have the upper hand on Funk until he makes one big mistake. Sullivan connects with a big shoulder tackle and Funk crashes into the canvas hard. Sullivan picks up Funk and executes a very nice vertical suplex. Sullivan goes for the pinfall but does not hook the leg which allows Funk to utilize the rope break. Sullivan then picks up Funk and goes for another vertical suplex to try and put away the wild Texan but Funk puts on the breaks and counters with a rolling cradle!! 1… 2… 3!!! <img alt="HjqppKl.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/HjqppKl.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /> Winner: Terry Funk</div></blockquote> <blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="45426" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div>Bob Backlund (WWF World Champion) vs Tony Atlas These two fan favorites both receive good reactions from the crowd and shake hands before the contest, leaving most to believe this will be settled in the middle of the ring with both men holding their heads high. This match has the fans realizing that Tony Atlas can be a top contender in the NWA because he has Bob Backlund frustrated. Backlund is trying to put Atlas in holds but Atlas is using his strength to immediately get out of them and then putting Backlund in them. Backlund gets caught by Atlas while coming off the ropes with a powerslam! Pin Fall 1… 2… Kick out! Atlas picks up Backlund and hits him with a jumping head butt! Backlund collapses to the mat. Atlas picks him up and goes for the Military Press Slam but Backlund slips off behind Atlas and executes an O’Connor Roll!!! 1… 2… 3!!! This is a wild and crazy brawl from the start because as soon as The American Dream came into the ring he was attacked by Abdullah The Butcher. It’s not the match itself that makes this important, but the brawl that occurs afterwards. Within minutes into the match Abdullah The Butcher started to carve up Dusty Rhodes with a fork and was DQ’ed by the referee. The Madman from Sudan then threw the American Dream over the top rope and out onto the concrete floor. Abdullah proceeded to throw the American Dream into a bunch of ringside chairs before then picking them up and throwing them on top of him making a huge pile. Abdullah then grabbed the ringside timekeepers table pulled it over to the pile where the very bloody Dusty Rhodes was laying under a pile of chairs. Abdullah climbed up onto the table and gave Rhodes his meat cleaver elbow drop!! The Omni crowd went bezerk as nothing like this has ever been seen in wrestling!!! TV Champion) vs Bob Armstrong Idol is currently the NWA Georgia TV Champion but the title will not be on the line in the tournament. Armstrong is obviously the fan favorite in this one as he is from just 25 minutes north of Atlanta in Marietta, but he has his hands full with the Women’s pet and the Man’s regret. These two are having a very even match. Idol is about to go for the Las Vegas Leg Lock but as he spins around Armstrong kicks him in the butt and Idol almost knocks into the referee!! Idol puts on the brakes and braces himself as he does not want a disqualification. Armstrong wastes no time and attempts a reverse cradle takedown!! 1… 2… IDOL KICKS OUT!!! The crowd thought that was surely the end of the match. Armstrong ducks an Idol clothesline and when he turns around he is met by a sleeper hold!!! Idol looks like he is about to go out when he suddenly grabs the ref and pulls him into Armstrong!! The ref does not go down as it was only a minor collision but he does stumble into the corner. Armstrong is stumbling around as Idol is getting his wits back together. Idol then tries to put Armstrong in a sleeper hold but Armstrong ducks and punches Idol in the gut… Idol is bent over and Armstrong is winding up!!!! He connects right on Idol’s chin with the Georgia JawJacker!! Idol goes down!! The crowd is celebrating!! Armstrong goes for the pin!!! 1…. 2…. Tommy can be visibly seen with a sore neck after the attack he received at the hands of Terry Funk last week. Maybe Brisco could teach Rich a few tricks about Terry because nobody knows the Funks better than the Briscos. Brisco executes a back suplex on Rich and he appears to land right on the back of his neck. Rich rolls over in pain and Brisco capitalizes on that by delivering a knee drop onto the neck of Rich. Brisco pulls Rich up and applies rear chinlock onto Wildfire. Ref Scrappy McGowan asks Rich if he gives up but he signals no with his hands. Rich is starting to make a comeback and is working his way up to his feet. Rich delivers an elbow to the midsection to Brisco and then elbows him on top of the head. Heavyweight Champ) Backlund and the Superstar are having a war in the ring as both men want this title. Backlund charges into the corner at the Superstar but he moves and Backlund hits sternum first. Backlund stumbles and the Superstar hits hit with a throat thrust and down goes Backlund! Backlund falls into the corner and the Masked Superstar is choking him until the ref tries to break it up. The Superstar shoves the ref back and screams “Get off my back ref!!” The Masked Superstar picks up Backlund and slams him down hard on the mat. The Superstar comes out of the corner and goes for an elbow but Backlund moves!! The Superstar hits hard and as he’s getting up Backlund applies the crossface chicken wing!! The Masked Superstar is trying to fight out of it but there seems to be no escape! At the last second The Masked Superstar wiggles over and gets his foot on the rope to which Backlund releases the hold. Backlund grabs the Georgia Champion and tries pulling him back into the center of the ring to apply the hold but he’s met by and eye rake of the Superstar. The Masked Superstar takes advantage of the situation by applying the Cobra Clutch on Backlund!! Backlund is stuck in the middle of the ring with nowhere to go! As a desperate last moment save Backlund jumps up into the air and comes down hard on his knees giving Masked Superstar a jawbreaker! Superstar releases the hold somewhat but still has Backlund in the hold. Backlund starts moving towards the ropes and does get his free hand around the second rope!! The Masked Superstar immediately takes Backlund by the hair and pulls him off of the ropes and reapplies the hold!! Idol starts to beg Andre to stop but the crowd is telling Andre to keep going. Andre picks up Idol and biels him across the ring again but this time Idol ends up landing right in the corner. Andre gives idol a big headbutt and then turns around and gives Idol his patented butt bump in the corner and Idol flops out into the center of the ring. Andre goes off of the ropes and connects with a Giant splash!! 1… 2.. Khan picks up Rhodes and slams him into the apron and then into the ring post! Rhodes appears to have started bleeding once again from his forehead as Khan is throwing him up into the ring delivering blows to the Dream. Khan goes for a double axe handle but the Dream connects with a blow to the gut and the crowd starts to erupt! Rhodes fires several shots into Khan and then stands up and starts jabbing Khan repeatedly with lefts! Rhodes winds up and starts jiving around before finally connecting with a double fist punch and Khan starts stumbling! Rhodes runs off the ropes and comes back with a cross body but is caught by Khan! Khan slams Rhodes first into the turnbuckle and then drapes him across the ropes! Rhodes goes down and Khan starts delivering chops to the forehead of Rhodes. Rhodes is turning into a bloody mess as puddles of blood are starting to build up in the ring. Khan comes off of the ropes and kicks Rhodes in the face and he flattens in the middle of the ring. Khan goes up to the top rope and comes off with a knee drop!! Rhodes is lying lifeless in the middle of the ring! Khan is going back up to the top rope and comes off again with a knee drop!! Khan starts chopping and kicking Rhodes in the head. The ref has no choice but to call for the bell! The ref goes to ringside to give Freddie Miller the call….. Miller: “Ladies and gentlemen your ref has stopped the match due to excessive bleeding on the part of Dusty Rhodes. Due to the ref’s concern for his health this will be ruled a stoppage. Rich throws Funk off of the ropes and connects with a backdrop! Rich picks up Funk and delivers two more big right hands and a big elbow and down goes Funk. Rich climbs to the second rope and comes down with a fist drop! As soon as Rich hits the move Funk pops up to his feet and staggers around…. He gives one wild swing and then falls back onto the mat! Rich gets on top of Funk and delivers more right hands until Funk thumbs him in the eye. Funk picks up Rich and throws him off the ropes but Rich comes back with a Thesz Press!! Funk immediately slides out from under Rich and rolls out of the ring. Rich chases after him hitting him off of the guard rail all the way up the aisle! They both go clear back through the dressing room and the bell rings. Bring you partner out here so we can give these stupid american pigs something to really watch!” Lars Anderson comes walking down to the ring with someone wearing a hat covering up his face….. They get to the ring and he takes off the hat…. However to momentum shifts when Ivan Koloff spits at Ole and he tries to come in the ring but is stopped by the ref and Ivan rams Lars’ head into the Russian Chain placed on the turnbuckle by Smirnoff. This takes the wind out of the Anderson’s sails and the Russians start to get some heat on Lars. Several minutes into this and Lars desperately needs to make a tag. Koloff tags in Smirnoff and they shoot Lars off of the ropes for a double clothesline and Lars gets destroyed! Pin Fall 1…. 2.. Kick out!! Smirnoff picks up Lars and hits a backbreaker and he is in a lot of pain. Smirnoff goes over and shoves Ole and The Rock tries to get into the ring but the ref has him stopped once again. While this is happening Koloff slips the Russian Chain back onto the top turnbuckle again. Smirnoff goes to throw him into it but Lars reverses it!! Smirnoff crashes into the chain and goes down! Lars stumbles all the way over, leaps out and tags in Ole Anderson! Anderson comes in fired up and is really letting the Russians have it! He throws Ivan off of the ropes and hits a back drop and he rolls out to the apron. Ole is laying them in on Smirnoff but just when Smirnoff is about to go down he rakes the eyes of Ole Anderson. Ivan is climbing up to the top rope and Smirnoff is holding Ole. Ivan comes off with a double axe handle but Ole moves and he crushes Smirnoff!! Koloff can’t believe it and before he knows it Anderson executes a rear takedown cradle!!! 1.. 2… 3!!!! They both throw Orndorff off of the ropes but Slater goes for a clothesline and Sullivan goes for a backdrop. Orndorff ducks the clothesline and comes back to execute an O’Connor roll on Sullivan. Funk rolls through and pops right back up, he charges Jackson again but Jackson moves and he hits the turnbuckle again! Funk stumbles back out and Jackson hits a hiptoss and when Funk gets up Jackson delivers another flying head scissors!! Funk rolls out of the ring flustered. A fan mutters something to Funk and he goes off on them yelling belligerently. Funk is not paying attention and Jackson comes outside behind him. Jackson taps him on the shoulder, Funk turns around and is met by a big right hand from Jackson! Funk rolls back into the ring and is begging Jackson to stop! Jackson comes towards Funk and Funk grabs him by the front of the tights and pulls him into the turnbuckle! Jackson stumbles out and is met by a neckbreaker from Funk! Ole & Lars stay on Ray Candy’s left arm to a point where most would think it may be broke. Candy rakes the eyes of Lars Anderson and throws him into his respective corner. Now Candy & Monroe are double teaming Lars while Ole is trying to get in the ring but is stopped by the ref! Now Sputnik Monroe is in the ring and he throws Lars Anderson over the top rope!! Lars crashes right at the crowds feet at ringside and Candy goes out there and throws him back into the ring. The ref has finally turned around as Sputnik Monroe starts beating on Lars. Monroe throws Lars off of the ropes and goes for a backdrop but Lars counters with a sunset flip! Monroe is staggering around as he does not want to go down. Atlas slowly goes down and the weight pops off of his chest and is quickly gaining momentum vertically when out of nowhere Ken Patera comes out!!! Patera suckerpunches Donavan! Patera then kicks Atlas in the ribs and he drops the weight on his chest!! Patera then adjusts the weight to be on Atlas’ throat and starts choking him with the weight!!
