thoughts, opinions and ideas welcome...

Recommended Posts

I'm thinking of starting a new save as a brand new company, based and mostly active in a US state. I'm thinking Small in stature and with a traditional "Southern" product.

I'd love to get some thoughts, opinions and ideas on what sort of workers I should be looking for, what sort of schedule I should run, how big a roster I should have and what kind of show length and format I should try to use.

Thanks for any help you guys can give.

<p>Southern style was mostly a mix of brawling and chain wrestling, IIRC.</p><p>

Strong on mic skills, too.</p><p>

Older guys...rookies were almost always "jobbers".</p><p> </p><p>

Lots of feuds/angles, but not the "Sports Entertainment" we see today.</p><p>

Very streamlined.</p><p>

"I'm gonna kick your ass. Oh yeah?! Let's get in the ring RIGHT NOW"</p><p> </p><p>

As a small promotion, the number of workers you have and shows you run will likely vary on your starting cash and profit margins. whenever I start with a small company, I like to hire just enough guys for a 6-8 match show, see if I'm profitable, and grow it slowly. </p><p> </p><p>

But I pride myself on being "fiscally conservative" <img alt=":)" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/smile.png.142cfa0a1cd2925c0463c1d00f499df2.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p>

Good ideas.</p><p> </p><p> Would you get workers doing "double duty"?</p><p> </p><p> In my mind I'm thinking 2 regular tag-teams but who could perform singles as well and then 4 regular singles who could also have a tag match. Weekly? Every two weeks?</p><p> </p><p> Do you get penalised for putting on the same card if you're putting it on in different cities/towns?</p>

<p>i think you need at least 10 for a battle royal although you could do a six man over the top rope elimination match. And yes eventually you would get a repetitive booking penalty for running the same match over and over in the same region You can mix it up with tag matches and adding stipulations to avoid this though. Also bringing in talent for one offs or a couple appearances just to do jobs keeps you from burning through your match ups.</p><p> </p><p>

Also i actually am running a small southern fed right now and i went out and found the cheapest talent to start and run a weekly show(usually three matches, two angles) along with a monthly 2 hour show at the lowest production values to save money. As time has gone on I've added higher priced better talent and upped my production value but only to the extent that i'm still profitable. I get a little gamey though by having my user character, who has high entertainment skills, act as the authority figure who is very heavily used on my show in order to boast the show's ratings.</p>

<p>What I'd really like to do is build up some of my home grown talent (created by me in the editor). No one that I've created is a super-worker they're just bang average apart from maybe one area. So I might have one guy that has good psychology, another that has a good look and gimmick, another guy that's good on the mic.etc But no one will be an all-rounder or overpowered. I don't want to make it too easy. So, I'm thinking pick the guy I want to build into my future babyface main eventer and pair him with an established guy from outside for a fued. Do the same for my future top heel. Do the same for my future dominant tag-team. That's only four long term guys on my roster though and then another four from outside who'll only be with us for the duration of their feuds. What should I do with the rest of my roster? I've got another four slots to fill (to get up to 12) or eight (if I decide to go to the maximum with a roster of 16).</p><p> </p><p>

Should they all just be job guys?</p>

Doesn't that cost quite a bit of money?</p>
