  1. (I thought I posted this already, but I can't find it in the thread, so if you saw this already I apologize!!) It's May 1992 in the AWA. We are juuuuuuuust on the verge of moving from Cult to National, but the economy sucks so some of my territories are lagging. The good news is that the economy is starting to pick up, so I'm hoping by year end I've made it. Our World Champion is Dr Death Steve Regal, who beat Curt Hennig for the belt 2 months ago, and is now feuding with Shane Douglas. Hennig, Tully Blanchard and Scott Hall...managed by JJ Dillon...make up The Family. Arn Anderson was here, too, before he left for the WWF. Sting has just defeated Terry Gordy for the National Title. Gordy is only here on a 6 month Freelance deal, so odds are they'll trade the belt back and forth 1 more time to secure Sting's spot. Curt Hennig and Scott Hall just regained the tag team belts from the Steiners, who had a 6 month run. Most of the Tag Teams here are mid-card level, so the Steiners ran out of decent competition...forcing me to move the belts over as I build up 2 more worthwhile teams. Keiji Muto is the TV champion and has become so popular he's seemingly outgrown the title! He's feuding with Masahiro Chono, as well as Jesse Barr and Steven Regal. It's really a 'workers belt' and the matches have been rather good. Barry Windham and Tully Blanchard have been feuding. Other top stars include Jerry Lawler, Fifita Tonga, Robert Gibson and the SST.
  2. It's April 1992 in the AWA World Champion is Steve Dr. Death Williams, who won the title from Curt Hennig in a 3-way dance that included Jerry Lawler as well. The North American Champion is Terry Gordy, who recently defeated Barry Windham. The Television Champion is Great Muta, who beat Playboy Buddy Rose. (Rose had beaten Fifita Tonga - Haku - in a flute months earlier) Tag Team Champions are the Steiners - and they have 11 defenses to date (the tag team division has many teams, but they are all mid-card units. So essentially guys are getting positive rub when getting beaten up by the Steiners)
  3. Is match length a penalty that you can remove in the editing setting? I'm a few years into a save that I'm really enjoying...so it won't help me to make the edit in the global settings... but can it be turned off in the specific game settings?
  4. <p>AWA July 1990</p><p> </p><p> We are on track to advance from Cult to National by/before the end of the year. Just need to inch up "Size" score in NW and SW.</p><p> </p><p> After 7 months as World Champion, Sting dropped the World Title to Curt Hennig.</p><p> Sting was a good enough champion, but in an effort to differentiate from the WWF I wanted to move away from high profile "characters".</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> Adrian Adonis continues to reign as TV Champion (he defeated Shane Douglas in April). Adonis started a gimmick where he only faces low level competition...but that idea was twarted when he was tricked into facing Scott Steiner. Adonis keeps managing to keep the belt from Scott in very close matches.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> The World Tag Titles are still owned by Tully Blanchard and Arn Anderson. They've gotten thru everyone they face, yet Barry Windham keeps returning with partners to try to pry the titles off of them.</p><p> </p><p> Hennig, Blanchard and Anderson are in a stable called The Family, along w/Scott Hall as the muscle and JJ Dillon the manager. The goal was to next get the TV title on Scott so they had "all" the titles...but Hall was injured 2 weeks ago and is out for a month.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> The months of July and August will see several face/heel turns in order to freshen up the roster to create new feuds. I've also formed relationships with all 3 MEX companies so I can import new challenges for Sting and Hennig periodically.</p><p> </p><p> I lost Ted DiBiase and Big Van Wader to the WWF when their contracts came up for renewal. I could have afforded to match the offers, but it was SO high that I worried my other Main Eventers would start looking for higher pay, also.</p><p> Terry Gordy left when his freelance contact ended.</p><p> </p><p> Ray Traylor, despite a huge push, has asked for his release. Given the amount of effort I've put behind his push (and the fact that WWF or WCW would snatch him up in minutes) I denied him his release.</p><p> </p><p> Other top stars in the AWA include Michael Hayes, Punnisher Marc Callous, Brian Pillman, Dick Slater, Jimmy Garvin and Jerry Lawler.</p>
  5. <p>Its June 1990 in the AWA.</p><p> </p><p> Curt Hennig defeated Sting for the World Title at this month's PPV.</p><p> Sting had been champion since Christmas 1989, having beaten Ted DiBiase.</p><p> </p><p> Tully Blanchard and Arn Anderson (who are stable mates of Curt Hennig, along w/Scott Hall) are the The World Tag Team champions. Have been since April when they defeated Sgt. Slaughter and Ray Traylor.</p><p> </p><p> The TV Champion is Adrian Adonis, who defeated Shane Douglas last month.</p><p> Douglas had been champion since February (this was his second reign)</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> Once we graduate from Cult to National, I plan to minimize the value of the TV title and create a National title to serve as the "! contender to the World Title...</p>
  6. Terry Funk & Jim Duggan (face) = American Grit King Kong Bundy & Bob Backlund (Heel) - Brute & Brains
  7. <p>AWA January 1990</p><p> (Reminder - I was booking Bill Watt's UFC when Verne Gagne passed away in early 1988. This allowed me to buy the AWA.)</p><p> </p><p> After 8 months as World Champion, Ted DiBiase dropped the World Title to Sting. </p><p> The goal is to elevate Sting and create some excitement, while still maintaining an "old school" vibe. </p><p> </p><p> 3 weeks after the win, Wahoo McDaniel turned on Sting a the classic "I helped you, and you never offered me a title match" storyline.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> After a 5 month reign, Tormenta Del Mar (WWC's Hurricane Castillo, under a mask) dropped the AWA TV title to Shane Douglas. </p><p> Douglas was actually being considered for the World Title, but Sting proved to be (much) more popular with the fans</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> The World Tag Titles changed hands when Tully Blanchard and Arn Anderson defeated Sgt. Slaughter and Ray Traylor. </p><p> Slaughter and Traylor teamed on and off, but were booked to take the titles off of Curt Hennig & Scott Hall two months earlier.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> Other top stars in the AWA include Punnisher Marc Callous, Big Van Vader, Dick Slater, Jimmy Garvin, King Kong Bundy and Jerry Lawler.</p><p> </p><p> With the territories slowly going away, AWA strives to be a mix of Verne's grappling style and Watts/Memphis brawling.</p>
  8. <p>Well, this is been an interesting return to TEW for me!</p><p> </p><p> I had started a 1987 save of the UWF, in a universe where Bill Watts does NOT sell to JCP but instead breaks away from the NWA and plans to Go Large. I got to January of 1988 and just put it down for a little while.</p><p> </p><p> Last week I picked it back up, and/but in Feb of 1988, Verne Gagne died and the AWA was suddenly for sale. I figured, I'd done a nice job of building up Watt's territory...why not get my own?</p><p> </p><p> Truthfully, I did not expect to win it, but I did.</p><p> I'm the owner of the AWA.</p><p> I expected to lose money hand over fist for the first year, but by April I became profitable and my June PPV made over 300K in profit!!! I'M A HERO!</p><p> </p><p> Gradually I'm weeding out boring talent and bringing in new faces that fit the AWA mold of brawler/shooter. Imagine the UWF but less southern. <img alt="" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/wink.png.686f06e511ee1fbf6bdc7d82f6831e53.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p>
  9. <p>I only play RW...I like to pick an older era, choose a non-WWE/F company, and try to climb as high as I can.</p><p> </p><p> One exception is when I played as WWE 2001 with a goal of cultivating all the young talent. (It was a great era for new, young talent.)</p>
  10. <p>I am 3 years into my 2001 WWE save and I plan to keep playing, but this weekend I plan to start a 1985 NWA save. One old school, one new school.</p><p> </p><p> (I only play RW mods)</p>
  11. Yeah, best bet is to use Auto Booker to save time, but make sure you are putting over the guys you want. This way you get to accomplish what you want but you don't have to think too hard about it...
  12. Yeah....it made me beyond furious. So I made up a story that Hulk Had decided to retire while he was over seas on Japan...and for the rest of my save I wished nothing but ill will on him. bwaa haa haa haa haaaaaaaaa
  13. <p>Sorry, that wasn't clear... HOGAN asked for his release.</p><p> So it went like this: He wouldn't do the job, I appeased him, and he quit the next day anyway.</p>
  14. LOL - Freakin' Hulk. I ran a 1994 WCW save where Hogan was my world champion. I wanted him to drop the belt to Luger, knowing he would win it back 1 month later at Starcade. Hogan refused to do the job, so I let him win the match...and the next day he demanded his release. So he killed my PPV, my future plans ... *sigh* ... freakin' Hulk....
  15. <p>I kept checking the list for Ric Flair and couldn't find him. <img alt="" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/biggrin.png.929299b4c121f473b0026f3d6e74d189.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p> My gut said Hogan or Savage...then I remembered how selfish Hogan can be (he completely screwed me in my 1994 save) so I would say go to Savage if you don't go younger. </p><p> </p><p> IIRC, Savage would be fair and loyal as long as he's treated well...</p>
  16. But by forcing them into the red, it starts the clock...right? In other words, WCW might be somewhat profitable in his game, and forcing them to -999999 (whatever it is) begins the train of being in the red.
  17. I do the exact same thing. Triple threat environment and keep the losing champion strong. There should be no push back, and if you keep booking him strong after the loss it will be like nothing happened....
  18. Traditionally I only play RW Mods...so I'll pick a timeline and a company that intrigues me and play it for about 4 years of game time. By that point, almost always, the game world looks so different from what happened in "real life" that I'll take an interest in a new time period and I'll scrap the current save.
  19. My style is rather hybrid. More often than not, I'll pick a time period from WCW or WWF/E and I'll start off trying to replicate the time period but taking out the stuff I didn't like and improving on it. After several months, I've likely shaped the roster and the storylines to my liking, and I'll refer back to history when I get 'stuck'. (Well...who was champion in 1998? HIM?! Ok, Let me at least put him in the title match mix and see how I like it....) If I find Chemistry...either as opponents or tag team partners...I'll ride it for as long as I can. If I have the budget, I'll sign top names to see how they would have fared in this "era".
  20. << Does anyone know of any databases from 2001? I'd like to try doing the Invasion angle from the point WWF bought WCW but without having to rely on a lot of lower-card talent from WCW and ECW. >> There are two mods from 2001. One starts in January 2001, the other mid year I believe the mid-year one is called "WCW Lives" and is working under the premise that they survive the Monday Night wars. I have found that playing as WCW in WCW Lives is hard because the remaining monthly contracts for Nash, Jarrett, etc are exorbinant. But I'm running a WWE save in the other 2001 mod, and I'm late in 2003. It's put together very well!
  21. There's a RW mod based on a premise that the WWE folds and everyone winds up in different territory-based feds. I think it takes place in 2004 or 2006, but I can be slightly off here. So while it's not random EVERY time, it's very randomized use of RW wrestlers...
  22. I'm pretty meticulous with my Human Resources. I keep a clipboard and 2 sheets of paper that break out everything for me, so I know how many of each I have and what I pay them. For the workers, I try to keep a balance of heels and faces, per level (Main Event, MidCard, etc). For the non-ring workers I'm always trying to slightly up my game where I can, constantly shelving folks who are not terribly skilled but too expensive a lump sum to fire.
  23. Its April 2003 in the WWE Right now, the fed is showcasing two big storylines. 1) HHH & his bodyguard Batista has finally/reluctantly joined Ric Flair's Age of Excitement...which features Billy Gunn, Randy Orton and Jason (Christian) York. Originally they were feuding with Shawn Michaels and Kevin Nash, but that feud has moved over to the team of Booker T and Goldust, with Chuck Palumbo helping. Since Sting is the World Champion, he is always in the AoE's sights. 2) After weeks of Big Show, Kane and Mike Awesome terrorizing the WWE, we learned that Jim Mitchell has returned as their Mastermind. They targeted Undertaker, who was supported by Mick Foley and Kris Kanyon. Since Foley is only semi-active, the Tag team champions of Goldberg and Taijiri have come to Undertaker's aid as well. Since both feuds feature a team of powerful heels, any "face" with momentum can easily get into the fray...or knocked Out of it!
  24. The Hogan era of TNA was embarrassing IMHO I am thinking your 2016 scenario has the most potential...you could play it as an era where you try to recapture all the things that made them great 10 years prior. If you can recruit one of the TNA originals...or another strong personality (like a CM Punk) you could have a guy who verbally trashes the Hogan era and leads the charge to rebuild. This could/might inspire remaining veterans (or future highers of veteran caliber) to rebel against this youth movement.
  25. Minimum 8-10 matches Main Events go 11-15 minutes (Do match lengths of this size cause penalties?)
