Trevor Fortune - the main man

Trevor Fortune didn’t sleep much. He never had. Even as a younger man he had never spent more than four hours in bed. Now, at 55, he regularly spent even less time in slumber. New Year’s Day 2016 was pretty typical in that regard. In the early hours of the morning he found himself sitting in his study, full of souvenirs of the past and reflecting on how he has gotten here. It had been a busy, fast life for Trevor ever since he was a child and it showed no signs of slowing down now. In a lot of ways… it all went back to his father.

Victor Fortune - the father who casts a considerable shadow

Victor Fortune was 77 years old now and enjoying a well-deserved retirement. He had amassed a fortune in real estate, sufficient to sponsor a lifestyle boasting a private jet, flash cars, multiple homes. A true success. From an early age Trevor had looked up to the old man. He admired his father’s work ethic and, even more than that, he really appreciated his father’s refusal to just settle, his willingness to take a big chance for the opportunity to make an even bigger impact.

Larry McMasters and Brad Bridges - the pretenders turned challengers turned conquerers

It was fair to say that the Fortunes, father and son, had done more to influence the course of professional wrestling than anybody else. Larry McMasters and the GEW crew might argue that one and Brad Bridges and his AACW had played his part but none of it would have happened without Victor Fortune.

UFPW - The Gamechanger

The Universal Federation of Professional Wrestling has changed the industry. From Victor’s original plans it rose to the very pinnacle of the wrestling business. Trevor had been only 18 when he assumed control of UFPW and carried it to still greater heights. In the 80s and early 90s it was bigger and more successful than anybody could even have imagined. Nor could anybody imagine it all coming to an end.

Hugo Prescott - the departed legend

Then it happened. Hugo Prescott died in a motorcycle accident. The figurehead, not just for UFPW, for the whole wrestling scene was a true star, a legitimate icon. His clash with Dolf the Enormous made both men icons but it was Prescott, as the point at the top of the Fortune’s spear, who truly dominated all around him. His death… though nobody realised it at the time… it was the beginning of the end for UFPW. GEW had been formed just one year earlier and, aided by a sharper, edgier product, took full advantage of the uncertainty surrounding UFPW. In October of 1999 it happened. UFPW went out of business. The Fortunes’ place in professional wrestling was gone. For the next thirteen years GEW sat astride the wrestling rankings, with the venerable AACW firmly established as their closest rivals and companies like AOA, NHEW and PGA all trying to take the next step towards national recognition also.

ECP - The shot at redemption

In January 2013 it happened. Trevor smiled at the memory of the first show. East Coast Pro, ECP, had been an intriguing return to the business that he loved more than any other. He had rebuilt his family fortune off the back off the music sharing software Trapster and he had found a sense of place in North Carolina that he never expected. He had opened ECP with the aim of creating new stars and carving out a niche for himself. McMasters had won the war and Trevor was at peace with that. So be it. For three years his young roster had set out to prove to him, to themselves and to the wrestling world that they had what it took. 2016, Trevor felt, was going to be a very, very big year for all of them. If that led them into war again… well, Trevor was ready for that too. He looked around the office again, his gaze catching a picture of Hugo celebrating one of his nine reigns as World Champion. Great times. The very best. Hugo took out his phone and, ignoring the time, made a call.

“Kennedy, how are you? Happy New Year! I was just thinking about your Dad…”

OOC: It's been quite a long time since I've run a dynasty here. Photobucket has added all the pictures back into my old SNP effort so I enjoyed reading that again for the first time in ages recently. That was a big part of what brought me back here. The BIGGEST part though? Forum user willr0cks has created a thing of absolute beauty in his Rockverse and I feel very fortunate indeed that I have gotten to play a tiny, tiny part in that. With that being said I hope you'll enjoy this tiny, tiny taster into the Rockverse. Keep an eye on it, it's going to be fantastic. Rockverse thread is here.

Kennedy Prescott, by her own admission, hadn’t exactly made the most of New Year’s Eve. There had been plenty of options that, for a variety of reasons, she couldn’t really recall now and she had declined them all. Drinking alone is never very much fun and she had no idea why she had thought it would be any different tonight. It wasn’t like her. Now, a little after 2 am, 2016 hadn’t exactly gotten off to the best of starts. It had begun okay. She’d gotten the annual tearful phone call with her mother out of the way early and, close to the end of the first bottle of wine, she’d started watching video footage of her father online.</p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><img alt="3BeAeTt.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/3BeAeTt.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" />)</div><p></p><p></p><p>

2016 would be the twenty year anniversary of Daddy’s death. Twenty years. It still didn’t seem fair. Kennedy was 31 now and had never been able to attach any meaning to it. Hugo Prescott had been a hero to millions, the most famous wrestler in the world, an immortal, unbeatable living legend. There was an ugly sense of reality to it all that still seemed obscene to Kennedy. A God shouldn’t be killed by something as tawdry and basic as a motorbike accident but that was what had happened. The world mourned the tragedy of it all. For a couple of days. Then they moved on with lives, seeking the next excuse for a public show of grief. Kennedy wasn’t even in her teens and the dull, sad ache had never left her, not in the two decades since.</p><p> </p><p>

Still, she enjoyed watching his legacy. The night would have been alright if she had just stuck to videos. The internet is a dark, dark rabbit hole though and the Prescott name still carried enough interest that her own endeavours were prone to close examination and, as it turned out, considerable criticism.</p><p> </p><p>

Kennedy has always wanted to create something, to be involved in something beautiful. She wanted to inspire people in the same way that her father had. If the internet was anything to go by, it seems all she had inspired was particularly vindictive judgement on her various output.</p><p> </p><p>

On her acting (specifically her supporting role in Hollywood Flop ‘Year of the Spider’), the ironically named Don’tBeCruel1992 opined, “Kennedy Prescott is a terrible actress. The Spider from the title is more or less metaphoric but I am convinced that you pull any old spider from any old web and the arachnid you’ve stumbled upon would deliver the dialogue with more credence and belief than Prescott.”</p><p> </p><p>

Her short-lived stint as singer with post-punk band Miracles of Science fared no better. “Delivering childish lyrics in a tone-deaf squeal and seemingly involved in a quest to invent new notes when trying high ones, Kennedy Prescott’s presence in an otherwise decent band is a miracle of some description for sure.” The rest of the band, with a new singer and rechristened She Said Nothing, are now signed to a major label. Kennedy has never begrudged them their success, they were good guys, but it’s hard not to feel some regrets.</p><p> </p><p>

Still… all of that paled in comparison to the absolute trainwreck that was her reality show – ‘Impressing Kennedy’ – eight episodes so desperately devoid of entertainment that, even without the horrendous edit job, it might have lived up to noted critic’s Allen Murtagh’s proclamation that, “this might actually be the worst television show ever made. Certainly it has made me reconsider my profession with a degree of seriousness that is probably amusing if you’re anyone else but is considerably less hilarious from my vantage point. About the only positive conclusion that Kennedy Prescott can take from all this is that her father isn’t around to see it.”</p><p> </p><p>

Yeah. That still stung even after a couple of years. A combination of reliving all this (and the wine) had brought Kennedy to tears. She just didn’t know what to do next. She wasn’t yet ready to give up on her dreams of being a part of something bigger… there just wasn’t much left to try. Kennedy wasn’t sure how long she sat there, feelings of dread growing by the second… a ringing phone broke through the gloom. She jumped, startled, and answered,</p><p> </p><p>

“Hello?”</p><p> </p><p>

“Kennedy, how are you? Happy New Year! I was just thinking about your Dad…”</p><p> </p><p>

East Coast Pro are pleased to announce that they have come to an arrangement with the Independent Wrestling Channel. This deal will see the launch of a weekly show called ‘ECP:60’, to be presented live on Thursdays. This is considered an important step in the growth of ECP as the company looks to develop and carve out a place in the increasingly crowded field of American professional wrestling.</p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><img alt="xILP4KR.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/xILP4KR.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="T6JYUp3.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/T6JYUp3.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="xNakxO7.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/xNakxO7.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></div><p></p><p></p><p>

ECP, under the leadership of industry legend and former UFPW head honcho Trevor Fortune, have invested heavily in their production values and are said to be making a concerted effort to flourish in 2016 and beyond.</p><p>

Amongst the talent that fans can expect to see on the programme are ECP King of the East Coast, former MMA prodigy, ‘The Fighter’ Noah Lopez, ECP Internet Champion Marvin Manly and the ECP Tag Team Champions, Crag and Groot, collectively known as The Cro-Mags. These current champions are joined by a diverse field of talent including former professional basketball player ‘Big’ Eli Riddick, international judo competitor Jesse Rogers and their home grown star ‘Wildfire’ Chris James.</p><p> </p><p>

ECP’s fusion of modern and traditional wrestling styles, couple with Fortune’s vast experience and financial resources make this an exciting prospect. This is an opportunity for fans to get on board from the very beginning of what promises one of the biggest emerging success stories in wrestling today.</p><p> </p><p>

<img alt="dEQ8vyN.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/dEQ8vyN.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p>

<strong>Referee:</strong> Gio Simmons</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Miles Gould:</strong> Welcome to the very first episode of ECP:60 Minutes! Today is a very special day for everybody involved in East Coast Pro and it is my very special honour to be bestowed with the duty of calling the action here in South Carolina. I am Miles ‘The Mouth’ Gould and I’m joined here by a man who has seen pretty much everything there is to see in this business, Mr. Joel Coffman!</p><p>

<strong>Joel Coffman:</strong> Thank you for that welcome Miles and I can only echo those sentiments. It is a true privilege to be here in ECP where I truly believe we have assembled the best young roster in the whole world today. For the people who are watching us for the first time you are going to be beyond impressed by the action on show. If they made a believer out of this old dog from Texas you’d better believe that they can win over any and everybody!</p><p>

<strong>Miles Gould:</strong> The sheer variety of performer here is a testament to the depth of our locker room. This first match will be an example of that. Two teams who will have designs on dominating the Tag Team Division. Austin and Colby Outlaw held our Tag Team titles for over a year only losing the belts last month. They have the type of bond that only twins can boast of and you’d have to imagine that will serve them well.</p><p>

<strong>Joel Coffman:</strong> I think that Travis Hook and Reed Noble might take umbrage at that Miles and they are not a pair I’d want to antagonise. They may not be brothers in the biological sense of the word but these two go way, way back and I think there’s as close as any duo you’re likely to find. I know from my own experiences teaming with Gage Cotrell back in the old days… if you’re truly lucky you can find a brother in this business.</p><p>

<strong>Miles Gould:</strong> Well we’ll see which of these pairs wants it more now. The winners will be in a good position to take aim at Crag and Groot, The Cro-Mags, our Tag Team champions who were involved in an explosive six man tag match that ended in a double DQ on our pre show tonight.</p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><img alt="r942rXk.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/r942rXk.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="i6mEMwn.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/i6mEMwn.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="9GPfKbs.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/9GPfKbs.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="2mQLKdM.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/2mQLKdM.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="BycRLEH.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/BycRLEH.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></div><p></p><p></p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><p><strong>The Outlaw Brothers Vs. Hook & Noble</strong></p></div><p></p><p>

<em>In a decent match, Hook & Noble defeated The Outlaw Brothers in 7:59 when Travis Hook defeated Austin Outlaw by pinfall with a Bad Ending.</em></p><p><em> </em></p><p><em>

This one went back and forth early on with The Outlaw Brothers using their cruiserweight skills to stay outside of the offensive reach of their opponents. A flurry of quick tags on both sides kept the pace going. Reed Noble was the weak link here, looking a step behind both the Outlaw boys and his Berzerker partner. The crowd picked up on this and were scathing of Noble which somewhat nullified the gains made in his gimmick with the switch from a rather snivelling Weasel type of persona to a more deliberate Troublemaker hiding behind big Travis Hook when the occasion demands it.</em></p><p><em> </em></p><p><em>

Hook proved the difference maker here. A huge, clubbing forearm sent Colby Outlaw from the apron crashing through a ringside barrier and removing him from play (it’s worth noting that Colby didn’t show much psychology in terms of how he took the bump too). This led to a situation Hook & Noble could toy with Austin Outlaw as the mood took them until they landed Bad Ending (think Ascension’s Fall of Man with Hook going low and Noble high) to pick up the victory.</em></p><p><em> </em></p><p><em>

Miles Gould and Joel Coffman worked well together here too which can only be pleasing for Trevor Fortune and all of those who want ECP to thrive.</em></p><p>

<strong>Match Rating:</strong> 42</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Miles Gould:</strong> Well, well, well. Hook & Noble putting down a serious statement of intent there, displaying great chemistry and opportunism, knocking off the former Tag Team Champions and certainly making me eat my words.</p><p>

<strong>Joel Coffman:</strong> Travis Hook is a monster in that ring. It’s a little bit worrying that somebody as devious and underhanded as Reed Noble is all that seems to keep him on the leash.</p><p>

<strong>Miles Gould:</strong> That is definitely going to be a concern for the rest of the ECP Tag Team Division!</p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><img alt="GaZeMMu.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/GaZeMMu.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></div><p></p><p></p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><p><strong>Bryce Andrews video</strong></p></div><p></p><p>

A video plays next showing Bryce Andrews in his natural element in Vegas. He cheats at cards (but doesn’t get caught), steals drinks from those around him (unseen by the victims who turn on each other), he seduces a woman away from her partner only to drop her without a second glance when a prettier model passes by. The video ends with Andrews talking fast enough to con a valet into handing over the keys to a fantastic sports car. Even as Andrews drives away with his new female friend and his ill-gotten gains, the car’s actual owner is seen in furious discussion with the hapless valet.</p><p>

<strong>Angle Rating:</strong> 51</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Joel Coffman:</strong> ‘The Villain of Vegas’ is seen in his natural habitat… what Bryce Andrews wants… he has a habit of getting!</p><p>

<strong>Miles Gould:</strong> By whatever means necessary clearly. Let’s not forget that his other nickname, ‘The King of the Cheap Shot’, is equally well earned!</p><p>

<strong>Joel Coffman:</strong> He’s not as fond of that one though.</p><p>

<strong>Miles Gould:</strong> Understandably. That doesn’t make it any less valid though. Next up is a match between ‘Big’ Eli Riddick and young Troy Garrett. A big opportunity for the 20 year old underdog Garrett.</p><p>

<strong>Joel Coffman:</strong> An opportunity to get his ass kicked maybe.</p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><img alt="u3o3GuO.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/u3o3GuO.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="9GPfKbs.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/9GPfKbs.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="ifTVpSo.jpg?1" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/ifTVpSo.jpg?1" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><p>

<strong>Troy Garrett Vs. ‘Big’ Eli Riddick</strong></p></div><p></p><p></p><p>

<em>In an extremely short match, 'Big' Eli Riddick defeated Troy Garrett in 1:41 when Troy Garrett was knocked out.</em></p><p><em> </em></p><p><em>

Coffman’s words are to prove prophetic. Garrett lasts only 101 seconds in this one before referee Gio Simmons declares him officially KO’d and awards the victory to the 6’10 Riddick after a brutal choke slam. Contrary to earlier showings at live events Riddick wasn’t presented as a mere Monster here, instead displaying a more focused, Pit Bull style brand of viciousness that worked much better.</em></p><p><em> </em></p><p><em>

He comes out of this one with his credentials only enhanced by his dominant victory.</em></p><p>

<strong>Match Rating:</strong> 32</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Miles Gould:</strong> ‘Big’ Eli Riddick is a serious threat to every man on the ECP roster. How do you even attempt to deal with such a huge weapon of aggression? Joel, any suggestions for whoever has to take on the behemoth next?</p><p>

<strong>Joel Coffman:</strong> Make sure that your health insurance is up to date and make peace with anybody who is important to you in life I suppose.</p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><img alt="QfZLZnp.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/QfZLZnp.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="YaoCiAD.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/YaoCiAD.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></div><p></p><p></p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><p><strong>The Outlaw Brothers backstage segment</strong></p></div><p></p><p>

The Outlaw Brothers argue backstage about their defeat earlier. Austin is embarrassed at being pinned and blames Colby. Colby tries to explain the situation and that he couldn’t help after taking a serious bump. It doesn’t descend into violence but Austin eventually storms away with his brother trailing after him.</p><p>

<strong>Angle Rating:</strong> 39</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Miles Gould:</strong> You can see from that how important it is to The Outlaw Brothers that they compete at their very best here. That sort of competitive drive can only benefit them in the long run.</p><p>

<strong>Joel Coffman:</strong> You see I’m not totally sure I agree with you there. Working with your twin is absolutely, 100% a positive in many ways. The depth of the bond is undeniable. The other side of that though is that when things go wrong… well we all find it easier to fight with our families than we do with our friends. Having spent as long as I did looking into the bottom of empty bottles I know that better than most.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Cooper Grey and Chris James challenge Noah Lopez and Bret Ainsworth</strong></p></div><p></p><p></p><p>

Grey and James enter the ring and cut a scathing promo on ECP King of the East Coast Lopez and Ainsworth. ‘Wildfire’ is furious at Ainsworth’s contemptible attack on his manager, Mikayla Shafer, and wants revenge. Grey observes that they are the four top names in ECP and that he feels Lopez, with his arrogant attitude and disregard for the rules, is a poor representation of all the good that ECP stands for. In short Grey, who references his Grandfather’s career heavily here and his desire to add to the legacy of the family name, wants a chance to challenge for the strap. The heels come out and tease wanting nothing to do with the pair in the ring. As they turn to leave though Chris James brands Ainsworth a coward and, to the frustration of Lopez, Ainsworth accepts a tag team match on their behalf.</p><p> </p><p>

Mikayla Shafer helps James, with whom she has great chemistry, here. These two have a great bond. It is not, as is often assumed, a romantic one but theirs is a true and genuine friendship stretching back to their schooldays and it carries across very, very well into the realm of pro wrestling.</p><p> </p><p>

Cooper Grey has changed his gimmick too. He never really convinced as a Wrestling Machine and it worked far better when he was allowed to show more of his personality when he talked passionately about his background as a Generational Star. The new slant looked very good indeed here.</p><p>

<strong>Angle Rating:</strong> 59</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Miles Gould:</strong> We’ve got our Main Event set then and it’s safe to predict that it will be an absolutely unmissable match up. Four men with big ambitions and goals to prove themselves as the best in the business. Every one of these guys can justly believe that they’re a worthy King of the East Coast. ‘The Fighter’ Noah Lopez is the current King and both Bret Ainsworth and ‘Wildfire’ Chris James (twice!) have held the title previously!</p><p>

<strong>Joel Coffman:</strong> I don’t disagree with any of that. All of this quartet will have great careers. I am slightly concerned about ‘Wildfire’ though. There’s absolutely no doubt that he is ‘Mr. ECP’ but I think his focus right now is more on revenge than it is on the title.</p><p>

<strong>Miles Gould:</strong> Isn’t that understandable though? Bret Ainsworth’s heinous attack on Mikalya Shafer was sick!</p><p>

<strong>Joel Coffman:</strong> I agree completely Miles, I just think that, if you’re going after a man as sadistic as Bret Ainsworth, you need a cool head and a clear plan. If not… Ainsworth will pick you apart. It’s in his interest to keep ‘Wildfire’ raging.</p><p>

<strong>Miles Gould:</strong> It’s absolutely something worth bearing in mind as this story unfolds in front of us. They don't call Ainsworth 'The Painmaster' for nothing! Before we get to that however… we’ve another match between two talents on the rise.</p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><img alt="NCVsHdm.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/NCVsHdm.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="9GPfKbs.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/9GPfKbs.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="e1u7PhA.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/e1u7PhA.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><p>

<strong>‘Deadly’ Dean Rodgers Vs. ‘The Alpha’ Mark Bravo</strong></p></div><p></p><p></p><p>

<em>In a decent match, 'Deadly' Dean Rogers defeated 'The Alpha' Mark Bravo in 10:45 by pinfall with The Deadshot.</em></p><p><em> </em></p><p><em>

This is a competitive, even match between two men who seem well placed to carve out a place for themselves in this new era for ECP. The action is hard and consistent with no quarter asked or given. There are near falls on both sides. Rodgers’ brawling and Bravo’s boxing skills mesh together quite nicely but, in the end, with momentum seemingly against him, Dean Rodgers pulls The Deadshot, a springboard Lariat, out of nowhere to pick up a victory in this tightly contested bout.</em></p><p>

<strong>Match Rating:</strong> 42</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Miles Gould:</strong> Dean Rogers is off the mark on ECP:60 Minutes! He’ll be looking to inject himself into the King of the East Coast picture himself sooner rather than later I’m sure.</p><p>

<strong>Joel Coffman:</strong> Agreed. Mark Bravo gave a good account of himself too and I’m sure that he’ll be making an impact in the coming weeks and months too!</p><p>

<strong>Miles Gould:</strong> Speaking of making an impact, the man behind ECP, a genuine icon (and not just within wrestling circles) and the President of ECP, Trevor Fortune, is in the ring now.</p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><img alt="h8glsPc.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/h8glsPc.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><p>

<strong>Trevor Fortune introduces show/himself</strong></p></div><p></p><p></p><p>

Trevor Fortune introduces himself and briefly runs down his distinguished resume. He thanks the audience for their input tonight and talks up 2016 as being a big year for ECP. He hypes up their new TV show, makes it clear that he will appointing a commissioner in the coming weeks to aid him (in his role as ECP President) and praises, “the best roster of emerging talent anywhere in the world today” for a great show.</p><p> </p><p>

It’s no secret that Fortune is a tremendous speaker and this comes across in every word here. Tremendous nuance throughout, just the right amount of emphasis on every word. With all due respect to the ECP crowd this man still belongs in arenas. His goal is to get there with ECP, only time will tell if this is going to come to pass.</p><p>

<strong>Angle Rating:</strong> 87</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Miles Gould:</strong> A rousing call to arms from the man behind the controls here at East Coast Pro. I can assure you that everybody involved here wants to play their part in this latest Fortune success story. Now, from there, it’s time for our Main Event!</p><p>

<strong>Joel Coffman:</strong> This is going to be excellent stuff.</p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><img alt="KyTssvt.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/KyTssvt.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="Sr0wcTe.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/Sr0wcTe.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /> w/ <img alt="rsZjmNr.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/rsZjmNr.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="9GPfKbs.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/9GPfKbs.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="gjVlIpQ.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/gjVlIpQ.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="383kmFs.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/383kmFs.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><p>

<strong>Cooper Grey & ‘Wildfire’ Chris James Vs. Bret Ainsworth & ‘The Fighter’ Noah Lopez</strong></p></div><p></p><p></p><p>

<em>In a bout that had great heat and good wrestling, Bret Ainsworth and 'The Fighter' Noah Lopez defeated Cooper Grey and 'Wildfire' Chris James in 15:22 when Bret Ainsworth defeated 'Wildfire' Chris James by pinfall with a handful of tights.</em></p><p><em> </em></p><p><em>

These four set out to steal the show and they absolutely accomplished that, looking a step above anything else we witnessed tonight. The natural chemistry between Cooper Grey and Chris James can’t have gone unnoticed and it would be no surprise to see them paired up a little more often in the future off the back of this one. At the other end of the scale Bret Ainsworth was a little off the pace of the others but, overall, this one was a major success that will go some way towards shaping things as we move towards the first PPV of the ECP TV Era.</em></p><p><em> </em></p><p><em>

This contest, in common with many of the matches tonight (Riddick-Garrett squash not withstanding), was evenly contested. Ultimately it was going to take something out of the ordinary to finish it. What happened was that Lopez and Grey had gotten into it outside the ring while Chris James was leaving his usual finesse at the door to batter Bret Ainsworth. The frustration and fury of ‘Wildfire’ was plain to see. As Lopez and Grey drifted over towards Mikayla Shafer though, James took just a couple of seconds to make sure she was okay. This can have surprised nobody, James’ All-American ethics are a source of great pride to him and his affection for his manager is well known.</em></p><p><em> </em></p><p><em>

The brief distraction was all that Bret Ainsworth needed however. He rolled ‘Wildfire’ up, took a big handful of tights to keep him down and picked up a three count and a victory. He rolled out of the ring and made his escape the moment Gio Simmons' hand hit the mat for the third time and celebrated his tainted victory with some relish alongside ‘The Fighter’ Noah Lopez. James and Grey were left to lick their wounds but remain unbowed in their quest to achieve their goals.</em></p><p>

<strong>Match Rating:</strong> 61</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Miles Gould:</strong> What a contest! Dubious ending aside that was a great example of the quality we have here in ECP.</p><p>

<strong>Joel Coffman:</strong> Look at Ainsworth and Lopez. Do you think they care? Hell look at Cooper Grey and ‘Wildfire’. Do you think it feels any less like a defeat to them?</p><p>

<strong>Miles Gould:</strong> Of course not, there’s plenty of mileage left in this one yet! Tune in next week to see what happens next. From me, Miles ‘The Mouth’ Gould, my colleague Joel Coffman and from everybody involved in East Coast Pro, we thank you for your support and we hope you enjoy the ride!</p><p> </p><p>

<strong><em>OOC: So show one is on the books! The format may change slightly over time and I'm always open to suggestions to make it easier to read. I made a conscious decision not to include visuals for the Pre Show, it'll make it more important for guys' recognition when they make the main show then and might force me to book a little smarter (or cause me to crash and burn). In any case it's good to be back doing this (even if I'm not totally happy with this one)! I'd forgotten A) how long it can take and B) how satisfying it can be too!</em></strong> <img alt=":D" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/biggrin.png.929299b4c121f473b0026f3d6e74d189.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p>

Backstage at Wolf Ridge Auditorium, Trevor Fortune was feeling pretty good about the night. It had been his first time in a wrestling ring in far, far too long but once he was in there with a microphone in his hand it had all come back. This small room in a casino in South Carolina was a long way from some of the massive shows he’d booked in the past but it was great to be back. It was great to know that he still had it. He was even happier to see the young talent here looking the part though. Trevor had formed ECP with the goal of creating new stars. Based on tonight… they might be closer to achieving that than any of them had realised. More than anything else, he had enjoyed himself, more than he had in years.

“What did you think? Do you think you’ll be able to come aboard with us?” he asked the woman sitting across the old table in this makeshift office.

jjyMkvD.jpg

Kennedy Prescott smiled back at him. She was 31 years old now and still a beautiful woman. Trevor has known her all her life, had watched her grow from child to adult. He had watched her playing with her father, the most iconic wrestler of all time, Hugo Prescott, as a small child. He had been there at Hugo’s funeral and promised to stay in touch. That hadn’t really happened. There had been no real reason for this, just a simple case of life getting in the way. There had been birthday cards and Christmas cards and that sort of thing and Trevor had watched as Kennedy tried to make her mark in the entertainment world. The results… the results had not been pretty. Trevor understood her reluctance to get involved in wrestling. Her Dad had left a pretty huge shadow. Even her uncle, Hollywood Prescott, had carved out a place in the business that would be difficult to match. It was 2016 now though and Trevor truly believed that there could be magic in another Fortune-Prescott pairing.

“I’ve given it a lot of thought Trevor. It’s no secret that I never planned on getting involved in this business. I love it. I’ve always loved it. It was Daddy’s world though and it just seemed like it would hurt too much to be a part of it myself,”

Kennedy’s smile got quite wan and she paused for a moment to compose her thoughts before continuing,

“I still miss him Trevor. I know he was a hero to everybody, I know he was a big star but, to me, he was just Daddy. I miss him.”

“I miss him too Kennedy.”

“I know. He loved you,” she added in a sad voice. Then she gave that glorious smile again,

“I really enjoyed the show. There was something really sincere about it, something real and, I don’t even know what I’m trying to say, something almost noble about it. I’d love to be a part of it.”

She paused for thought again and laughed, a sound full of melody and joy that made Trevor chuckle himself.

vRpLB7n.jpgEjQC5q7.jpg

“I laughed so hard in here before the show. When Dean took Gage’s cowboy hat… that was such an excellent impression. The guy has a real talent.”

Trevor grinned back at her,

“He has a degree in theatre so I guess he has the background for it. Gage is a hell of a solid hand too, bringing him in with us might be the best decision I ever made. He loves this business, absolutely loves it with all his heart. He might have played the gruff hand about that rib but I guarantee you that when he gets home to his wife tonight he will laugh so hard that he’ll cry when he tells her.”

A knock on the door interrupted them.

“Come on in,” Trevor called out.

m5fExbQ.jpgdEQ8vyN.jpg

The door opened and two men stepped in. Bret Ainsworth was in front. Bret was an anomaly. He played a mean son of a bitch in the ring, a big, brutal bully with a penchant for pain. He genuinely scared some of the younger people in the audience, showing all the empathy and emotion of a shark as he went about his business in the ring. The reality was completely different. Bret was a compassionate, humble and generous man, very giving of his time to others, known throughout the region as a passionate advocate who worked tirelessly for a number of causes, particularly with the homeless.

His best friend in the locker room, referee Gio Simmons, was with him. Gio had come late to wrestling, using it as a way to bond with his son Danny. Classic family stuff. Tragedy had struck when Danny and Gio’s wife Annie were killed in a car accident. Gio had gotten involved in Grief Support Groups, first as a user and later as a facilitator. He and Bret had met at a fundraiser and the men became inseparable. Bret had been a big part in Gio getting his wrestling break and the man had taken it with both hands. They both looked a little serious now but, truth be told, they weren’t particularly brash characters. They were always polite though and greeted Kennedy warmly.

“What did you think?” Trevor asked them.

Gio gave two thumbs up. Bret was considerably more forthcoming, giving a near forensic breakdown of things albeit with a very positive slant (as was his wont).

“One last thing,” he concluded, holding his finger in the air for emphasis,

S16n3Lf.jpg

“Troy Garrett will be a big star. It might take a little time but he’s worth persevering with!”

“I’ll give him a match against you next week so!” Trevor offered.

Bret nodded but still looks a little bothered. He scratched absently at his beard,

“There’s something else…”

Trevor looked at him,

“Talk to me,”

It was Gio who spoke next.

“It’s me boss. I got a job offer. I gave it a lot of thought. I’ve decided to take it.”

There was a slight pause in the room then. For a moment nobody seemed sure what to say. Trevor spoke.

“Who’s it with?”

“PGA,” came the reply.

gHWLLNQ.jpg

Pure Grappling Alliance. Trevor took this in. Losing a good referee like Gio to a competitor wasn’t ideal. Gio continued anyway, his voice breaking slightly,

“I’m sorry boss. I just need to get away. You’ve been really good to me. I’ll never be able to repay you or Bret for what you’ve given me. I have to start over though. I go home every night to that house… and it’s empty. It’s just me and all these memories of Annie and Danny. The pain is still all too real. My brother lives out there, I’m going to move in with him and just try to find some peace. I am sorry.”

Gio held out his hand. Trevor looked at it for a moment and, instead, pulled Gio into an embrace.

“You have nothing to be sorry for Gio. There will always be a place for you here. Best of luck to you.”

Gio and Bret left then and Kennedy followed them just a couple of minutes later leaving Trevor Fortune alone. He sat there for a few minutes. Overall, it had still been a good night and, as Gio had just reminded him, at the end of the day, it was just wrestling and as much as it mattered, there would always be more important things too.

OOC: I wrote the bios for every one of these characters (except for Trevor Fortune). I could only do this because of the rich, vibrant world that Willr0ck created and the beautiful artwork he created. The Rockverse is going to be bloody gorgeous when it's done. For now... I hope you guys will enjoy this story as it unfolds. Thanks for all the feedback already, it's much appreciated.

Thanks! I was just looking for the right opportunity to slip a shameless plug in here.

Trevor Fortune announces that Kennedy Prescott has been named an Authority Figure in the company.</p><p> </p><p>

Fortune introduces Prescott as ECP Commissioner. He plays heavily on her status as, “the daughter of a legend and one of my dearest friends… the late, great Hugo Prescott”. Trevor Fortune looked outstanding here again while Kennedy Prescott, by contrast, looked a little lost. Her Generational Stat gimmick was average at best too. There seems little doubt that Prescott will have to go some way to win over the fans here. It may be some time before the stigma of her previous media output fades.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Miles Gould:</strong> Welcome aboard to Commissioner Prescott! As we continue to grow here there seems no doubt to me that she will be of huge assistance to Mr.Fortune.</p><p>

<strong>Joel Coffman:</strong> She comes from the greatest bloodline in this whole business and if anybody can help us climb to the next level I think it could be this bright, young woman! She could have a big impact here.</p><p>

<strong>Miles Gould:</strong> Speaking of making a big impact... it's time for our first match. The former Tag Team Champions, The Outlaw Brothers, will be looking to bounce back from last week's defeat in a handicap match against 'Big' Eli Riddick. This could be the first step towards the return to the top of the pile for these brothers.</p><p>

<strong>Joel Coffman:</strong> It could also be the first step towards getting broken by this monster. I do not envy them.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>The Outlaw Brothers (Austin Outlaw & Colby Outlaw) Vs. ‘Big’ Eli Riddick</strong></p></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p>

<em>In a decent match, 'Big' Eli Riddick defeated The Outlaw Brothers in 6:41 when 'Big' Eli Riddick knocked out Colby Outlaw.</em></p><p><em> </em></p><p><em>

This one was like a car crash that had the crowd buzzing by the end. Riddick faced The Outlaw Brothers, first one at a time, then together. The brothers are both accomplished cruiserweights and their talent is not in doubt. They threw everything they had at the big man, hitting him with a double dropkick that would have demolished most. Eli Riddick, to be frank, is not most. He shrugged off the combined assault of his opponents and then laid waste to all around him. His power is frightening enough but what's even more terrifying is how quickly he moves for a man of 6'10. A vicious clothesline dumped Austin unceremoniously to the floor and his 'Big Bang' choke slam left Colby out cold and Gio Simmons was quick to call it.</em></p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Match Rating: 41</strong></p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><img alt="YaoCiAD.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/YaoCiAD.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="udZOiEv.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/udZOiEv.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></div><p></p><p></p><p>

The official end of the match brought no respite for Colby Outlaw. Riddick doesn't talk much but his actions say plenty for him. He hit Colby with another 'Big Bang', dragged in a table from the outside and smashed his prone foe with it. Austin Outlaw had recovered somewhat by this point but was noticeably slow to get involved and aid his twin in this predicament. He watched on as yet another 'Big Bang' saw his twin driven through the table. Riddick eventually left without a backwards glance and Austin dragged his brother from the wreckage of the table and eventually helped him backstage.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Angle Rating: 26</strong></p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Miles Gould: </strong>The Outlaw Brothers still not quite on the same page and it cost them here.</p><p>

<strong>Joel Coffman:</strong> Sure. Can't argue with that. The sheer brutal effectiveness of Eli Riddick though... that man will take some stopping. The Outlaw Brothers are accomplished, decorated fighters and they barely made Riddick work for this.</p><p>

<strong>Miles Gould:</strong> More Tag Team action next anyway, two pairs who will be hoping to build up enough impetus to take a crack at the title currently held by The Cro-Mags.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Real Manly Men (ECP Internet Champion Marvin Manly & Jesse Rogers) Vs. Hook & Noble (Travis Hook & Reed Noble)</strong></p></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p>

<em>In a decent match, Hook & Noble defeated Real Manly Men in 8:01 when Travis Hook defeated Marvin Manly by pinfall with a Bad Ending after a distraction from Bryce Andrews.</em></p><p><em> </em></p><p><em>

Real Manly Men were tweaked somewhat for television. Jesse Rogers played heavily on his legitimate Martial Artist background and this was very good. ECP Internet Champion was working a more Show Stealer style gimmick and this one was perhaps below average but his previous Chosen One effort just wasn't fitting and definitely needed tweaking. On the other side Reed Noble, a former Internet Champion in his own right, was still getting a lot of flack from the crowd.</em></p><p><em> </em></p><p><em>

</em></p><div style="text-align:center;"><img alt="GaZeMMu.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/GaZeMMu.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></div><p></p><p></p><p><em>

The match itself was keenly contested and finely poised right up until the end. Just when it looked as though Manly was getting ready to pull the trigger on the hapless Noble the match was turned on it's head with the surprise appearance of 'The Villain of Vegas' Bryce Andrews. Andrews leapt to the apron, jeering at Marvin Manly. This allowed Noble to make the tag and in the aftermath of this Travis Hook scored a big win for his team off the back of a 'Bad Ending'.</em></p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Match Rating: 41</strong></p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><img alt="GaZeMMu.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/GaZeMMu.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="7NEXGSI.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/7NEXGSI.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="FbFE2vI.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/FbFE2vI.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="DSTPEB5.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/DSTPEB5.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></div><p></p><p></p><p>

In the aftermath of the match, with Hook & Noble having departed the scene Bryce Andrews was joined by 'The Alpha' Mark Bravo and the pair beat down Marvin Manly before Jesse Rogers got involved and made the save. The damage had been done though and the Internet Champion looked hurt.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Angle Rating: 25</strong></p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Miles Gould:</strong> Well there's plenty to talk about off the back of this one. Bryce Andrews, 'The King of the Cheap Shot', clearly taking aim at Marvin Manly and his ECW Internet Championship. That could be a match well worth watching.</p><p>

<strong>Joel Coffman:</strong> And what role does Marc Bravo have to play in all of this? 'The Alpha' just might be the missing part of the jigsaw for Bryce Andrews and his plans. </p><p>

<strong>Miles Gould:</strong> Finally, they might almost have gotten lost in the chaos at the end of the bout, Hook & Noble making it two wins in two weeks. They showed toughness to stay in it and opportunism to strike when the opportunity presented itself. They are not to be discounted either.</p><p>

<strong>Joel Coffman:</strong> Another man who can't be discounted is 'The Painmaster' Bret Ainsworth.</p><p>

<strong>Miles Gould:</strong> It's another opportunity for young Troy Garrett to make his mark too.</p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><img alt="S16n3Lf.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/S16n3Lf.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="kpIRycI.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/kpIRycI.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="m5fExbQ.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/m5fExbQ.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><p>

<strong>Troy Garrett Vs. Bret Ainsworth</strong></p></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p>

<em>In a decent match, Bret Ainsworth defeated Troy Garrett in 7:22 by submission.</em></p><p> </p><p>

<em>Troy Garrett is game in this one and had a real go but there was a sense throughout that he is still a boy in some ways competing against a man. Ainsworth matched Garrett's best efforts step for step in the early going and when the older man steped things up a gear and brought his greater size to bear the Underdog just could't keep up. Ainsworth grounded Garrett, stretched the youngster cynically and finished him off with a nasty, impactful spinebuster followed by a Camel Clutch that left Garrett with no choice but to tap out.</em></p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Match Rating: 44</strong></p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><img alt="m5fExbQ.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/m5fExbQ.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="Mp5qKTE.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/Mp5qKTE.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></div><p></p><p></p><p>

At the end of the match Ainsworth was goading the audience, basking in their disapproval and relishing every boo. The abuse turned to cheers however when 'Wildfire' Chris James emerged from the crowd, sliding into the ring and tackling Bret Ainsworth to the canvas before he unloaded with a number of stiff blows that rock 'The Painmaster'. James had been itching to get a chance to really hurt Ainsworth ever since the big Masochist laid out Mikalya Shafer and he took full advantage of this window of opportunity. Ainsworth eventually managed to squirm free and beat a hasty retreat to the back leaving Chris James alone in the ring.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Angle Rating: 49</strong></p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Miles Gould:</strong> 'Wildfire' igniting before us! The war between these two has a long, long way to go yet.</p><p>

<strong>Joel Coffman:</strong> You can see how much that meant to 'Wildfire' and how much it embarrassed Bret Ainsworth. Until these guys end up in the same ring and are given free reign to try and destroy each other this one will run and run!</p><p>

<strong>Miles Gould:</strong> Sage observations as always Joel! It's been a hell of a show and it's all led to this massive Main Event - six of our brightest stars about to collide in a three on three contest that I've been looking forward to since it was announced!</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Cooper Grey and G.O.A.T. (Derrick Drake & Luis Molina) Vs. ECP King of the East Coast ‘The Fighter’ Noah Lopez and ECP Tag Team Champions The Cro-Mags (Crag & Groot)</strong></p></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p>

<em>In a decent match, Cooper Grey and G.O.A.T. defeated 'The Fighter' Noah Lopez and The Cro-Mags in 15:52 when Cooper Grey defeated 'The Fighter' Noah Lopez by pinfall with a fast roll up.</em></p><p><em> </em></p><p><em>

Noah Lopez lived up to his reputation here. 'The Fighter', the reigning ECP King of the East Coast, was head and shoulders above the rest of the men in this one. Flanked by the primitive aggression of ECP Tag Team Champions The Cro-Mags he took the initiative early on. Groot, on the other hand, looked off the pace but there was do doubting that the audience were into this. Derrick Drake and Luis Molina looked like a well-oiled machine too, working well together and showing exactly why so many people expect them to break out sooner rather than later.</em></p><p><em> </em></p><p><em>

G.O.A.T. and The Cro-Mags eventually spilled to the outside in a flurry of brutality with no quarter asked or given. In the breakdown to this extravaganza of unpredictable action, Cooper Grey showed all of the inherent guile you would expect from a man of his pedigree to roll up Lopez from behind and pick up a huge win just past the quarter hour mark.</em></p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Match Rating: 55</strong></p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Miles Gould:</strong> What a HUGE moment. The ECP King of the East Coast has been pinned in the middle of the ring and he is not happy about it!</p><p>

<strong>Joel Coffman:</strong> Cooper Grey on the other hand looks pretty pleased with himself and no wonder!</p><p>

<strong>Miles Gould:</strong> Absolutely Joel! Cooper Grey has got to be right in the middle of any discussion now about who is likely to challenge for Noah Lopez' prized title. We'll have to wait and see how things play out, tune in next week to see what twists and turns await us on the road to greatness here in East Coast Pro. It's been another thrilling night and it will only get more and more intense going forward. Speaking for myself (and I'm sure for plenty of you too), I can't wait to see what happens next! Good night and thanks for watching!</p><p> </p><p>

His first thought was to let it ring out and not answer. He was in a buoyant mood and quite happy just cruising down the road on a fresh January night in South Carolina, singing along to the latest She Said Nothing album. He glanced down to see who it was and, after a moment’s consideration, pressed the button to take the call.</p><p> </p><p> </p><div style="text-align:center;"><img alt="CXWKQ3u.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/CXWKQ3u.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></div><p></p><p></p><p> The voice of Victor Fortune, still as powerful and decisive as ever even at 77, came through loud and clear.</p><p> </p><p> “How are you son? I was watching your show on TV and thought I should give you a ring. How long has it been?”</p><p> </p><p> As it happened it had only been about three weeks since their last call, a slightly stilted fifteen minute effort on Christmas Day that had only been made slightly easier by the couple of drinks that they both had. Trevor knew that he and his Dad loved each other but, he reflected a little sadly, they had invested so much effort in their professional relationship over the decades that their personal one had gotten a little lost along the way. This was especially true in the thirteen years since Trevor’s mother had died.</p><p> </p><p> “I’m good Dad, I hope you are too, what did you make of the show?” he asked finding, to his own surprise, that he still cared a great deal about the answer. Whatever else could be said about his Dad, Victor Fortune knew as much about professional wrestling as any man and his opinion was worth listening to.</p><p> </p><p> </p><div style="text-align:center;"><img alt="Mp5qKTE.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/Mp5qKTE.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="m5fExbQ.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/m5fExbQ.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="6mNW1P4.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/6mNW1P4.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></div><p></p><p></p><p> “You’re doing a lot right son, an awful lot right. It was my neighbour’s kid who dropped over a copy of the first show during the week and then he showed me how to watch it on my laptop. This ‘Wildfire’ kid looks a real star and you’re onto a winner with the angle with him and the Ainsworth guy. Damsel in Distress will always get over, it doesn’t matter what else changes in the business, that will always hold true. I presume you’ll be getting the title back on him eventually. I’m not sure about Lopez personally, this MMA fad still doesn’t impress me if I’m honest but the boy of the Maguires’ next door couldn’t get enough of him so what do I know?”</p><p> </p><p> They chatted in a little more detail about the roster and the presentation. The old man was impressed with the production though Trevor thought it best to keep quiet about just how much it was costing. His Dad had always been frugal. It was a long, long time since UFPW. Harsh words had been exchanged by both men but it was all history by now. Of course history was difficult to forget completely sometimes too…</p><p> </p><p> </p><div style="text-align:center;"><img alt="jjyMkvD.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/jjyMkvD.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></div><p></p><p></p><p> “How’s Hugo’s daughter doing? It’s good that you’ve brought her back into the business. It’s in her blood.”</p><p> </p><p> “She’s a very nice young woman. She loves this industry and she deserves a break too. She’s had a rough few years.”</p><p> </p><p> “I know. I saw that TV show of hers. You hide it quite well but you have a compassionate streak to you! How is she getting on in the locker room?”</p><p> Trevor allowed himself a smile at that question,</p><p> </p><p> </p><div style="text-align:center;"><img alt="rsZjmNr.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/rsZjmNr.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></div><p></p><p></p><p> “It’s funny Dad. The only other woman we have with us at the moment is Mikalya Shafer, ‘Wildfire’s’ manager. They just clicked from the outset and by the time we left tonight they were chatting like life-long friends. It’s good to see. A dressing room can be a lonely place for one woman by herself.”</p><p> </p><p> Victor agreed to this and then threw another question,</p><p> </p><p> “So what’s coming up next week? Before you answer, let me be clear, don’t tell me the results. I know it’s old fashioned but I’d prefer to watch without knowing what will happen, I just want to know what I have to look forward to.”</p><p> </p><p> Trevor decided that this deserved another smile. His father might never come right out and say it but clearly he was enjoying the ECP experience so far.</p><p> </p><p> “Four matches on TV again and one on our preshow too. Preshow is Paul Cote against a young guy born in Scotland called Jonny Robb,”</p><p> </p><p> “Is Paul Cote anything to Danny Cote,”</p><p> </p><p> Trevor laughed,</p><p> </p><p> “Yeah Dad, his son.”</p><p> </p><p> “Danny Cote could work. Not an ounce of charisma though. What’s his boy like?”</p><p> </p><p> “Pretty much the same actually. As for the main show we have ‘Deadly’ Dean Rodgers going up against Darius Coles.”</p><p> </p><p> “Isn’t Coles the boy from Texas who broke his back a few years back?”</p><p> </p><p> “That’s him. He’s a different man now. Very humble, very grateful. He and Dean should put on a good show for us. Cooper Grey is a big part of our Main Event picture too and he’ll have a match against Bret Ainsworth,”</p><p> </p><p> “I like Ainsworth, he’s a mean looking son of a bitch.”</p><p> </p><p> “He’s actually a sweetheart,” Trevor observed, “but I hear you. He’s very good at what he does. We have two tag matches then. Real Manly Men will be taking on Bryce Andrews and Mark Bravo. We’re going to call Andrews and Bravo together Showtime. I think it’s a good fit and we’ll work to a feud for our Internet Championship out of this one.”</p><p> </p><p> “Internet Championship eh?” his father replied in a tone that said volumes for his scepticism at the title’s name, “what about the other match?”</p><p> </p><p> “G.O.A.T. going up against Hook & Noble. Winners to challenge The Cro-Mags for the Tag Team titles. Should be a good one.”</p><p> </p><p> “Yeah there’s a lot to anticipate there. G.O.A.T. look the real deal alright and Travis Hook has a great look, there’s a bit of real menace about him.”</p><p> </p><p> </p><div style="text-align:center;"><img alt="udZOiEv.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/udZOiEv.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></div><p></p><p></p><p> The call didn’t last long after that, Victor went to great lengths telling Trevor to push Eli Riddick to the moon, emphasising that, “there’s a ton of dollars to be counted off that big monster” and, once more, talking up ‘Wildfire’ Chris James. Then, with typical bluntness, he told Trevor he was tired and going to bed. Just like that he was gone. Trevor drove in silence for a few moments, trying once more to unravel the complicated equation that was his relationship with his father. He shrugged, he hadn’t been able to figure it out in 51 years, tonight was unlikely to be the one when complete understanding was found. He turned She Said Nothing back up and sang along with them as the miles rolled by.</p><p> </p><p> </p><div style="text-align:center;"><img alt="Wt5gN8G.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/Wt5gN8G.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><p> </p><p> <img alt="7SkewFl.jpg?1" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/7SkewFl.jpg?1" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><div style="text-align:center;"><p><strong><span style="text-decoration:underline;">Matches for ECP:60 Minutes – Episode 003</span></strong></p></div><p></p><p> </p><p> </p><div style="text-align:center;"><img alt="LBRulEp.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/LBRulEp.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="aYjyJiA.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/aYjyJiA.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="kpIRycI.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/kpIRycI.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="LZA7U7u.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/LZA7U7u.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="oLRm6q4.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/oLRm6q4.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><p> <strong>G.O.A.T. 5. ‘Radiactive’ Paul Cote Vs. Johnny Robb – Preshow fight.

Unless you made a mistake with the images there, Coles seems to be working two matches in the same night, so it looks like singles damage will come back to haunt him in the main event.

2. Cooper Grey Vs. Bret Ainsworth - b/c he should always win

3. Real Manly Men Vs. Showtime

4. ‘Deadly’ Dean Rogers Vs. Darius Coles

<strong>Referee:</strong> Derek Smalls</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Miles Gould:</strong> Welcome once more to ECP:60 coming to you from our home in Wolf Ridge Auditorium. This is the best hour of true wrestling on television today and I would advise you to strap in and be ready to be amazed. Calling the action with me today is the man who has seen it all in his long career, Joel Coffman and, for the first time, the lovely Mikayla Shafer. Guys, are you as pumped as I am for tonight's show?</p><p>

<strong>Joel Coffman:</strong> Absolutely. We have got four matches tonight that even this grizzled, old veteran is full of anticipation for. The really great part is that, here in ECP, all this terrific action begets more great action afterwards. The fallout from every match tonight could be even more significant than the bout itself. It's going to be another outstanding show.</p><p>

<strong>Mikayla Shafer:</strong> I'm really happy to be here with you guys tonight. Even if I wasn't involved directly in ECP I'd recognise the quality of the performers. Now, in addition to giving you my insights into the action, this is an opportunity for me to do some scouting.</p><p>

<strong>Miles Gould:</strong> Mikayla, for anybody who is joining us for the first time tonight, is the manager of the man that many people feel is the embodiment of ECP, the man they call 'Wildfire', Chris James! I'm told though that tonight's show is going to open with a video package.</p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><img alt="NLrkuCB.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/NLrkuCB.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></div><p></p><p></p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><p><strong><span style="text-decoration:underline;">A video aired showing Summer Whitley.</span></strong></p></div><p></p><p>

The video that followed was equally parts artistic, arousing and, ultimately, uninformative. Starting in black and white it flows between a number of scenes with a very, very beautiful woman. Every one seems to emphasise her elegance and class. She wears the finest clothes and adornments, eats in the finest restaurants, drinks champagne, drives an expensive sports car. The video gradually becomes more colourful and ends with a fade to white and the words "Summer is coming," left on screen.</p><p>

<strong>Angle Rating:</strong><em>Funny story, I didn't realise until I ran the angle that Summer's stats were blank in the (older) versions of the database I was using. Consultation with willr0ck has seen this corrected but the score I got when I actually ran this was so laughably low I don't even want to report it.</em></p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Joel Coffman:</strong> Now that is one refined young lady. Miles, you're an internet nerd, do you know who she is?</p><p>

<strong>Miles Gould:</strong> As it happens I do Joel. Her name is Summer Whitley, she was previously a manager in Pro Wrestling Underground and she left there because, and this is a quote, "I am far too good to waste my time underground. I brighten up everywhere that is lucky enough to have me and I am destined for bigger things."</p><p>

<strong>Joel Coffman:</strong> Lovely, what a lovely girl. I would like to formally welcome her to the fold. It's Summertime!</p><p>

<strong>Mikayla Shafer:</strong> I'm always pleased to see another woman making her mark in this business but I do hope she'll go about it the right way.</p><p>

<strong>Miles Gould:</strong> Well it's now time for us to head to ringside for the first match of the night. Real Manly Men, including Internet Champion Marvin Manly, will face off against the emergent pairing of Bryce Andrews and Mark Bravo. That duo will apparently be known as Showtime. This match also marks the full debut of our new referee, Derek Smalls. So we'll welcome him to the ECP family also.</p><p>

<strong>Joel Coffman:</strong> He's no Summer, a mild Spring evening at best.</p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><img alt="FbFE2vI.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/FbFE2vI.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="DSTPEB5.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/DSTPEB5.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="kpIRycI.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/kpIRycI.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="GaZeMMu.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/GaZeMMu.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="7NEXGSI.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/7NEXGSI.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><p>

<strong>Real Manly Men (ECP Internet Champion Marvin Manly and Jesse Rodgers) Vs. Showtime (Bryce Andrews and 'The Alpha' Mark Bravo)</strong></p></div><p></p><p></p><p>

<em>In a decent match, Showtime defeated Real Manly Men in 10:12 when Bryce Andrews defeated Marvin Manly by pinfall with a handful of tights.</em></p><p>

There was a clear attempt at setting the seeds of a story in this one. Bryce Andrews, 'The Villain of Vegas', has clear designs on Marvin Manly's Internet championship but was markedly reluctant to get involved physically with either of the Real Manly Men, preferring to use Bravo as a shield of sorts and only coming in when the deck was stacked in his favour. Bravo, for his part, debuted an impressive spot when he hoisted Manly up and held him there. The crowd anticipated a vertical suplex but Bravo instead showcased his own selling when Manly came back down on top of him and scored a near fall.</p><p> </p><p>

Miles 'The Mouth' Gould and Joel Coffman worked really well together here too. Gould's frustration at Showtime's antics was clearly audible to those listening while Coffman was far more pragmatic, endorsing a "you win however you need to" approach. A little past the ten minute mark Showtime's methods did pay off when Andrews lived up to his other nickname, 'The King of the Cheap Shot', rolling Manly up from behind after Bravo distracted him when it looked as though Real Manly Men were about to take over. Andrews took a good handful of tights too to keep his opponent down for the count of three but new referee Derek Smalls missed it. A good win for Showtime then though Andrews moved a little uncomfortably afterwards and was later reported to have suffered a Brachial Plexopathy during the match.</p><p>

<strong>Match Rating:</strong> 40</p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><img alt="GaZeMMu.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/GaZeMMu.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="7NEXGSI.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/7NEXGSI.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><p>

<strong>Bryce Andrews and 'The Alpha' Mark Bravo cut a promo putting themselves over.</strong></p></div><p></p><p></p><p>

Showtime stayed in the ring afterwards to celebrate their victory and took the opportunity to lay out a statement of intent about their new partnership and their plans for the future. Andrews summed up by bragging, "so there you have it peons, 'The Villain of Vegas' Bryce Andrews, backed up ably by his enforcer, 'The Alpha' Mark Bravo, will soon be your new Internet Champion. And you might not want to admit this but you like it, you love it, you can't get enough. Why? Because that's SHOWTIME BABY!"</p><p>

<strong>Angle Rating:</strong> 41</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Miles Gould:</strong> I think Marvin Manly will be a tougher nut to crack than Bryce Andrews realises.</p><p>

<strong>Mikayla Shafer:</strong> I agree Miles, Marvin has worked so hard for the title and he's very proud of it. He won't go down easily.</p><p>

<strong>Joel Coffman:</strong> You guys are missing the point. Yes, Marvin Manly has worked hard, yes he's a tough man. I know that, you both known that, Marvin Manly's Mama knows it. So does Bryce Andrews. That's why he recruited 'The Alpha' to his cause. It's a masterstroke. Bryce Andrews is a genius, I truly believe that.</p><p>

<strong>Miles Gould:</strong> Well we'll have to wait and see how it all plays out. Certainly, dubious or otherwise, that victory tonight does give some credence to Andrew's demands for a shot at the title. For now though we go to our next match, featuring the man who beat 'The Alpha' Mark Bravo two weeks ago, 'Deadly' Dean Rogers pitted against the upcoming Darius Coles.</p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><img alt="vRpLB7n.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/vRpLB7n.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="kpIRycI.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/kpIRycI.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="41fYUxb.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/41fYUxb.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><p>

<strong> ‘Deadly’ Dean Rogers Vs. Darius Coles</strong></p></div><p></p><p></p><p>

<em>In a decent match, 'Deadly' Dean Rogers defeated Darius Coles in 6:30 by pinfall with The Deadshot.</em></p><p>

Dean Rogers lived up to his 'Deadly' moniker here and the crowd picked up noticably, becoming invested in the strong showing from the Nebraskan theatre graduate. Coles was game but ultimately over-matched in this one. He gave his all and it certainly wasn't easy for Rogers but, from the outset, momentum seemed to be irresistibly moving the way of the more experienced Rogers. The Deadshot, his feared springboard lariat, duly picked up another victim here.</p><p>

<strong>Match Rating:</strong> 41</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Miles Gould:</strong> A convincing win for Dean Rogers. He's certainly starting to build some... oh I say, what's happening?</p><p>

<strong>Joel Coffman:</strong> It's the big man Eli Riddick. And the lovely Summer Whitley!</p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><img alt="udZOiEv.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/udZOiEv.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="NLrkuCB.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/NLrkuCB.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="vRpLB7n.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/vRpLB7n.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><p>

<strong>'Big' Eli Riddick attacks 'Deadly' Dean Rogers!</strong></p></div><p></p><p></p><p>

'Big' Eli Riddick crashes into an unaware Rogers, knocking him to the ground and unloading with a series of stiff clubbing blows to the head. The beatdown continues despite the orders of referee Derek Smalls (who is having a difficult first night). Riddick drags Rogers upright, whips him into the steel steps, drops him across the ringside barrier and clotheslines him over it into the audience. He looks like he's going to follow and inflict more damage but Summer snaps her fingers and he follows her backstage instead. The crowd are loud in their disdain and while Riddick seems oblivious to the boos, Whitley looks down her nose in absolute contempt at her detractors.</p><p>

<strong>Angle Rating:</strong> 33</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Miles Gould:</strong> This was a completely unprovoked assault by Eli Riddick. He's always been somewhat mean-spirited but this was a whole other level.</p><p>

<strong>Mikalya Shafer:</strong> I guess the question as to what type of woman Summer Whitley is has just been answered definitively too.</p><p>

<strong>Joel Coffman:</strong> Oh don't be so melodramatic you two. You can live with some competition Ms.Shafer, you've had it all your own way for too long around here. What happened right there... that's called making a statement! 'Big' Eli Riddick with some guidance behind him? That's a scary prospect for the whole ECP locker room. An old Beach Boys album comes to mind. Say it loud and say it proud folks, ENDLESS SUMMER! She'll have Eli Riddick in the mix for titles in no time!</p><p>

<strong>Miles Gould:</strong> Well speaking of titles we have another match now - this one a Number One contenders' match for the ECP Tag Team titles. Both G.O.A.T. and Hook & Noble have built up a head of steam already but only one of them can challenge The Cro-Mags for the belts!</p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><img alt="LBRulEp.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/LBRulEp.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="aYjyJiA.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/aYjyJiA.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="kpIRycI.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/kpIRycI.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="LZA7U7u.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/LZA7U7u.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="oLRm6q4.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/oLRm6q4.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><p>

<strong>G.O.A.T. (Luis Molina and Derrick Drake) Vs. Hook & Noble (Travis Hook and Reed Noble)</strong></p></div><p></p><p></p><p>

<em>In a decent match, G.O.A.T. defeated Hook & Noble in 11:27 when Luis Molina defeated Reed Noble by pinfall with The Pinnacle.</em></p><p>

Business picked up a step in this one. The prize, a shot at Tag Team glory, seemed to motivate both sides and we got a competitive, excellent display of tag team wrestling with all four men playing their part. A succession of quick tags and near falls got the crowd buzzing. The power of Molina and the speed and charisma of Drake gelled well together and came very close to securing the win around eight minutes when Drake's patented missile dropkick took all the air out of Reed Noble.</p><p>

Travis Hook made the save that time and, indeed, came close to taking out Drake with a running powerslam in the immediate aftermath. Shortly afterwards though Noble, who was ridiculed throughout by the crowd, tagged himself back in and, after a missed turnbuckle smash, momentum shifted again. This time there was to be no salvation. G.O.A.T. hit The Pinnacle, secured the win and will now switch their sights to The Cro-Mags and the ECP Tag Team Championship. It was a fascinating, Car Crash style match that lived up to the expectation.</p><p>

<strong>Match Rating:</strong> 46</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Miles Gould:</strong> G.O.A.T. take another step towards their goals. In the short term they aspire to tag team title success, in the long term they aim to prove that they truly are the greatest of all time!</p><p>

<strong>Joel Coffman:</strong> Mere wordplay. They have a long, long way to go before they can justify that sort of outrageous claim!</p><p>

<strong>Mikalya Shafer:</strong> It's a fine aspiration though, we should all aim so high.</p><p>

<strong>Joel Coffman:</strong> You'll say I'm a bitter old cynical but I prefer to live a little more in the real world. You earn a name like that, you don't just choose it because you think it looks good on some merch!</p><p>

<strong>Miles Gould:</strong> That is a topic I'd definitely like to come back to at some point but I've just been told that Summer Whitley is backstage and has something she wants to say!</p><p>

<strong>Joel Coffman:</strong> For Summer, I'll happily pause.</p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><img alt="udZOiEv.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/udZOiEv.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="NLrkuCB.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/NLrkuCB.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><p>

<strong>The camera has caught up with Summer Whitley and Eli Riddick just as they are about to leave the building.</strong></p></div><p></p><p></p><p>

Summer smirks, "you all have so many questions don't you? Well your questions don't matter to me. So you can just listen to what I have to say and be grateful for it. You might actually learn something. You all know where I came from. You all know why I left. Well I looked around tonight and I realised something. The people here in South Carolina are no better. You people are blessed merely to be in my presence. I am the walking, talking embodiment of true class. Most of you uncouth yobs don't even recognise it. I'm here to make a difference though and this man, 'Big' Eli Riddick will be the first beneficiary. For now, I'm out of here, places to go and people to see. Don't worry though, Summer is here to stay and the future has never been brighter!"</p><p>

With a toss of her lovely hair, Whitley sits into another exotic car outside with the silent Riddick and drives away.</p><p>

<strong>Angle Rating:</strong> 42</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Joel Coffman:</strong> What a woman she is. Summer in January, what a time to be alive.</p><p>

<strong>Miles Gould:</strong> I'm speechless. I don't know what has come over you today.</p><p>

<strong>Mikalya Shafer:</strong> There's plenty I could say but a real lady wouldn't stoop so low.</p><p>

<strong>Joel Coffman:</strong> I guess that means you've nothing to say about Bret Ainsworth and his interactions with you then ahead of his match in our Main Event now?</p><p>

<strong>Miles Gould:</strong> His interactions? He ran her through a glass door Joel. He assaulted her.</p><p>

<strong>Joel Coffman:</strong> And now he's about to do the same to Cooper Grey. I hope this summer lasts forever!</p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><img alt="Wgik9lA.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/Wgik9lA.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="kpIRycI.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/kpIRycI.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="m5fExbQ.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/m5fExbQ.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><p>

<strong>Cooper Grey Vs. Bret Ainsworth</strong></p></div><p></p><p></p><p>

<em>In a bout that had great heat and decent wrestling, Cooper Grey defeated Bret Ainsworth in 11:44 by submission with a Fade to Grey after a distraction from 'Wildfire' Chris James.</em></p><p>

Bret Ainsworth lived up to his billing as 'The Painmaster' in this one, clearly taking a depraved pleasure in inflicting as much hurt as possible upon his foe. Cooper Grey is made of stern stuff, as tough as the proverbial cheap steak but he took a lot of punishment early on here. Ainsworth's focus on causing pain almost cost him halfway through this bout when Grey reversed an Irish whip into the ropes and pulled out a back body drop to gain control of things. </p><p>

Ainsworth was quick to take a shortcut back to the driver's seat though, utilising a face rake when the referee was unsighted and returning to his sadistic onslaught. When he saw Mikayla Shafer at the announce desk looking uncomfortable, he paused his attack on Grey to mount the turnbuckle on the corner to gesticulate crudely in her direction, laughing manically at the same time.</p><p>

This brought 'Wildfire' Chris James out to the top of the entrance ramp. The crowd popped at this and as James started to make his way towards the ring. Bret Ainsworth turned to face him and continued to hurl abuse at this new target. The two men, James and Ainsworth, were focused entirely upon each other. As a result it was a simple matter for Cooper Grey to yank Ainsworth down from his perch on the turnbuckle, plant him with a DDT, roll him towards the centre of the ring and lock in his 'Fade to Grey' modified crossface. Ainsworth squirmed and fought but was left with no option other than to tap. He fled immediately leaving Cooper Grey to celebrate the win while James applauds sincerely from the floor.</p><p>

<strong>Miles Gould:</strong> What a match, what a moment, what a victory!</p><p>

<strong>Joel Coffman:</strong> What a travesty. Chris James had no right to be out here.</p><p>

<strong>Mikayla Shafer:</strong> That's no travesty, it's the first step towards justice.</p><p>

<strong>Joel Coffman:</strong> No, no, no there was no justice for Bret Ainsworth here tonight at all.</p><p>

<strong>Miles Gould:</strong> You said it yourself at the start of the show Joel, "you win however you need to!"</p><p>

<strong>Joel Coffman:</strong> That was completely different. Don't misrepresent me to me Gould, you pipsqueak!</p><p>

<strong>Miles Gould:</strong> Well personal insults or not I've just been told in my earpiece that Cooper Grey has just been confirmed as the man next in line to challenge 'The Fighter' Noah Lopez for the ECP King of the East Coast title.</p><p>

<strong>Joel Coffman:</strong> What a horrible ending to the night.</p><p>

<strong>Miles Gould:</strong> Same time next week folks, the only place to see how it all unfolds, right here on Independent Wrestling Channel. I'm Miles 'The Mouth' Gould and I'll be there. I hope you will too. Good night and thank you for watching.</p><p> </p><p>

<p>An ECP Interlude</p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><img alt="Wt5gN8G.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/Wt5gN8G.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><p> </p><p>

Another show on the books. Trevor Fortune had stopped counting them long, long ago. He had seen it all by this point in this career but it was a cause of cautious optimism for him how excited he felt about ECP. The future was bright for East Coast Pro. There was an abundance of ability in his locker room. Of course they were getting ready to disperse now for another week, this collection of young, hungry talent who felt they had something to prove. Trevor had asked the pair of newcomers to drop in and see him before they left. He wanted to know how they felt about things, he wanted to let them know his plans and expectations for them, to reassure them about anything that might be concerning them… in short he wanted them to feel a part of the ECP family. Over the long decades he had spent in the business Trevor was all too aware of how important locker room morale could be in enhancing or decimating a promotion.</p><p> </p><p>

A soft knock on the door interrupted Trevor from his considerations about where the next year might take the company. He called out to come in and, moments later, found himself looking into the face of ECP’s latest couple of acquisitions.</p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><img alt="fWjDog9.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/fWjDog9.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="IZI3Q7R.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/IZI3Q7R.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></div><p></p><p></p><p>

Derek Smalls, at first glance, looked ever so slightly ridiculous. A decade in the Indies had only come to an end when he was called into the comparative big time of AWO where his experience made him an important part of their setup. Of course, AWO being AWO (and Trevor liked to consider himself open-minded about variety in wrestling but those guys skirted the edge of what made sense), he was known as Eros there and sported a faintly ludicrous circlet on his brow that he had brought with him to ECP for some reason. He was a decent rather than outstanding referee but he was also a wonderfully positive man and a real leader. Every locker room needed people like Derek and, at 32, he had plenty of time on his side.</p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><img alt="NLrkuCB.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/NLrkuCB.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="ZNOgDRp.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/ZNOgDRp.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></div><p></p><p></p><p>

The second of the new arrivals was a little different. Summer Whitley was just 22 years old and fresh off a run with Pro Wrestling Underground. Summer was a beautiful woman and it has surprised Trevor that she had turned up as a free agent. Having been linked with both AACW and GEW in the past there was no doubting her potential and she fit exactly the profile of people that Trevor wanted involved in ECP. Just starting her career and with virtually untapped potential.</p><p> </p><p>

“Guys, I just wanted to welcome you aboard! I think you can both play a big role here. We have big plans and you can be a part of that. Tonight went well for you both I feel, I hope you feel the same way and, take it from me, things will get better and better as we go forward.”</p><p> </p><p>

Derek spoke first,</p><p> </p><p>

“Thanks Mr.Fortune. I appreciate the opportunity. It means a lot to me to get the chance of weekly work. I know that the guy I replaced was well liked here but I’m just here to do my best.”</p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><img alt="dEQ8vyN.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/dEQ8vyN.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></div><p></p><p></p><p>

“I understand that Derek,” Trevor smiled, “Gio Simmons was a hell of a guy, a really good person. He gave a lot to ECP and he will absolutely be missed. We did our homework though and the reason you’re here is because I see in you the same attributes. You’ll be here as long as you’re happy to be and I know that you’ll excel in the role. You’re going to be good for ECP Derek, I hope we’ll be equally good for you. Also… please, call me Trevor. Mr.Fortune is my Dad!”</p><p> </p><p>

He turned to Summer, “And what about you?”</p><p> </p><p>

The smile that she returned was the sort that made a man’s heart beat a little faster. Trevor resisted the urge to swallow nervously and instead focused on the young woman’s response,</p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><img alt="udZOiEv.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/udZOiEv.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></div><p></p><p></p><p>

“Yeah boss, I enjoyed tonight. I think I’ll work well with Eli and, like Derek said, I’m grateful to sign up. I didn’t expect to be released by PWU. It took me by surprise and I’m glad not to have sit on the sidelines.”</p><p> </p><p>

“Summer, believe me, you wouldn’t have been left out in the cold for long in any case. I can see big things for you in this business and I’ve been around it a while. We’ll leave you with ‘Big’ Eli for now but, all going well, we might give you some more clients, a stable. Time will tell. Plans kind of got thrown up into the air when we got onto TV but we’ll start looking further ahead again now.”</p><p> </p><p>

They chatted for a little while then and when Trevor asked if they had any questions there was only one. Derek asked it but Summer was clearly interested in the answer too,</p><p> </p><p>

“Are things always so… dramatic backstage?”</p><p> </p><p>

Trevor made an indistinct noise that could have meant anything, thinking carefully before speaking,</p><p> </p><p>

“You mean the Travis Hook thing?”</p><p> </p><p>

Derek nodded and Summer added,</p><p> </p><p>

“Sure. Also the Johnny Robb thing.”</p><p> </p><p>

Trevor grimaced slightly and shrugged,</p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><img alt="86bpe8K.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/86bpe8K.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></div><p></p><p></p><p>

“Johnny is just thoughtless. I don’t think he’s a bad kid. Sure, using pretty much all the hot water in a shower before the show was stupid but I don’t think it’s any more than that. As it is, we gave him a slap on the wrist and, let’s not forget, pulled him from his match tonight. I know it was only pre-show but it’s pushed him back the queue now, Nathan Hagar stepped in and did well so yeah… Johnny messed up but my hope is that he knows it.”</p><p>

There was a slight pause while all three digested this before Trevor pressed on,</p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><img alt="LZA7U7u.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/LZA7U7u.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="QfZLZnp.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/QfZLZnp.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></div><p></p><p></p><p>

“Travis Hook is a whole other kettle of fish. Himself and Reed Noble are hard work, I know that as well as anybody. They’re abrasive, they’re confrontational and they’re antagonistic. Tonight… tonight Travis took it too far. He pushed and pushed and Austin Outlaw snapped. I wouldn’t tolerate a brawl in my locker room. It’s not good enough. I’ve given him a bollocking, I’ve made it very clear to him that he needs to cop onto himself and not keep acting the maggot.”</p><p> </p><p>

“He didn’t like it much,” observed Derek,</p><p> </p><p>

“No,” Trevor agreed, “he didn’t. It’s not up to him though. We’ll just have to see how things go. I hope he pulls it together, I think he’s got a great look and could really go places if he sorts his behaviour out.”</p><p> </p><p>

Some more small talk followed this before the two debutants departed. Trevor was left alone to work on his plans for the show the following week:</p><p> </p><p>
