He declares that now that he have defeated Regular Nobody, it´s time for him to face "real" challengers, starting today as he faces newcomer Garry The Entertainer with the belt on the line. Smooth is interrupted by Regular Joe who reminds Smooth that he has a rematch option and that he´s planning on using it, but Smooth counters that Joe has to wait as Smooth has lined some "more deserving" contenders before Joe. Joe simply nobs and calmly declares that he´s not going to interfere anyone´s dreams on becoming champion so he waits as he will eventually get his rematch and that the only question is if Smooth still holds the belt at that time or not. Smoot looks annoyed by this, obviously not happy about Joe´s calm statement nor the suggestion that he could lose the belt. Pretty happy about the show either way, Seth and Justice did what I expected, two angles impressed with D ratings and Garry had a good debut match (against Smooth but still). I complimented Seth (turned D- in a losing effort and also helped backstage atmosphere before the show by doing impressions), Garry (E rating in first match is not bad, espesially when you have F- popularity in popularity based company) and Queen (D- isn´t common for him yet and he has been praised the least among my top guys). With Ramone gone, I had a hard time figuring good storyline as Cobra and Queen were the only non-jobbers available and they just feuded last year. Because of this, I was considering about hiring midcard level guy instead of Garry for a while but eventually settled to give Mad Dog an actual feud with Queen (ironically enough, I ended up hiring extra guy after this show anyway so not good planning skills showed here <img alt=":o" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/redface.png.900245280682ef18c5d82399a93c5827.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" />). Now, this will be a filler feud and likely short one, they will probably meet just once or twice at max and don´t expect Mortimer to win those encounters. Still, this is likely as high as he gets within ESE so hope he enjoys the moment. As you could see, I also have continued throwing jobbers into occasional title matches. This is simply done for the same reason than before, keeping the belt on spotlight as much as possible and putting some defenses under champions belt. Of course, with heel being the champion, the storyline has to be differend so instead of being "fighting champion", Smooth gives shots to lowercard guys in order to avoid "real" opponents. Funny how exactly same thing can be twisted to look completely differend, isn´t it? <img alt=":p" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/tongue.png.ceb643b2956793497cef30b0e944be28.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p> You know how this works by now so lets see if there´s any overness chances this time around:</p><p> </p><p> main event: Smooth: 19, Cobra: 20, Jolson: 19 </p><p> upper midcard: Joe: 18, Queen: 19 Seth: 17 </p><p> midcard: Kid: 17, Mortimer: 17, Reeves: 17</p><p> lower midcard: Garry: 4</p><p> </p><p> Jolson and Seth were both at 18 so no suprise that Jolson gained a point and Seth lost one. Kid and Reeves also both gained a point and thus are back to 17. Garry started with 0 so he gained 4 points, I expect to see him at 17 before the end of the year. As for othert backstage news, I did tweak Rex´s gimmick as it got the becoming stale note during the show. No matches for Smooth in FCW.</p><p> </p><p> We took 4056$ loss this month, which is actually little less that I expected with me using my full roster. That said, I plan to bring pair of extra guys in soon (one actually right now since I want to build him up a bit before his first feud and another guy likely after current feuds have run their course so about 2 - 3 months from now) so expenses are going back up. Extra guys are needed mostly simply because I need new feud options and don´t really want to cut current midcard or above guys (also Joe and Cobra are only midcard or above guys who´s contract will be up in next 18 months and while I could cut people at any time, I dislike doing it unless there´s actual reason like wrestling wasted).Plus we are making steady progress towards small were I need to have 16 guys so might as well prepare roster for that as I don´t like the idea of suddenly bringing in half dozen new guys at the same time (And may I just ask were was this logic when you decided to put Mortimer into feud instead of hiring new guy???? Oh well, there´s a point here on Queen vs. Mortimer feud being so short that it wasn´t really worth it to put bigger name against Queen there anyway but I do find it quite funny that I made almost a full 180 between pre and post show regarding hiring new talent).</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-username="foolinc" data-cite="foolinc" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="45829" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div>You are paying the travel costs of your roster? Roster Moves:

New Signing:

vvyWO0h.jpg

The Silencer

Age: 35

Popularity in USA: F+

Face, Armed Forces

When looking at new talent who could fit into main event and would be cheap (not an easy combo to achieve), Silencer was the one guy that stood out with strong ratings everywhere (scouting level is 3 so no idea of actual skills) and as a bonus, he´s good backstage influence too. Now I do play fog of war on and don´t have previous experience on him (in my own games, pretty sure I saw him few times in other diaries but don´t really remember his performance in any) so might be wrong here but pretty sure he shouldn´t be unemployed or so cheap so I had to bite. The Silencer will start as a face since I have a feud on mind with him (for certain reasons that I will talk more about once the feud starts) and will be considered as 3rd main eventer (despite him starting at lower midcard) alongside Joe and Queen. Now, I know it might seem bit unbalanced to put him as a face main event guy when there´s only one on heel side (still considering Cobra and Jolson as midcard guys) but there´s at least one other signing in the near future and that will slighly even up the field. I also had two turns planned when making this decision only to find out later that it´s still too early for those so that plan was put on hold and this will affect my booking plans for near future as two out of the three planned feuds were build around those turns (yep, I screwed up again and forgot to check if the turns would be ok before actually trying to turn one of them :o). Silencer agreed on 3 years contract with 500$ per show.

I have no idea how he is in this version, but I remember using The Silencer in previous TEWs to decent success. Interested to see what you do with him.

Just wanted to say it is so cool to see both Hyde Hill and foolinc back around these parts again. I cannot remember the last time I saw either of you posting on a regular basis on here, welcome back!

Sorry for the off topic post. To take it back on topic, I am really interested to see how you are going to use Garry The Entertainer.

I often play as low ranking companies and he is always on my shortlist to hire, but I never pull the trigger because I just cannot think of how I would use him character wise.

Thanks! You can thank the Discord for getting me back into the diary writing mood. :)

Attendance: 66

Look, it´s Smooth on the ring and he has a microphone (seriously, how many times I have started a show like this? :p). Smooth again starts by praising himself to moon before finally getting into his point. He tells audience that tonight, he´s once again will heroically defend his belt against worthy opponent but after that, it looks like he has to deal with that annoying mister Average Jon that is still thinking he can share a spotlight with Austin. "So James, prepare yourself because the great one will grand you your undeserved title shot next month and one I´m done with you, I don´t want to see you ever again". D

Garry The Entertainer vs. Mad Dog Mortimer

In a bout that had a decent reaction from the crowd but terrible wrestling, Mad Dog Mortimer defeated Garry The Entertainer in 5:55 by pinfall with a DDT.

Performance: Garry: E-, Mortimer: F+

After his match, Mortimer takes a microphone as he has some things to say. He starts by telling that people has asked him after last month time and time again, why did he attack Quentin Queen? What he could gain from that? Mortimer gives us the answer telling that all his career he has never been anywhere near on top despite attepting to rise into top numerous times during his long career and now that he´s close to 40, his time is running out so he decided to that he needed to try at least once more to raise into the ranks. And the best way to do so is to beat someone who is considered bigger than himself and Queen has undeservingly got that status, just because he´s graduated fron TCW dojo. Mortimer tells Queen that he´s nothing more than a young punk who has born with silver spoon in his mouth and is considered huge deal just because he´s association while Mortimer himself have had to fight for every opportunity he had and now he´s going ot fight once more and use Queen as a stepping stone towards the top. At this point, Queen does interfere, telling Mortimer that he´s welcome to try to beat him as he have tried (and failed) several times before but that if Mortimer thinks that Queen have had everything handed for him, he´s wrong. Queen says that he have had to work hard to gain his status and while he´s association with TCW has helped him a bit, he still have had to prove himself constantly and appearantly needs to do so once again against Mortimer next month. Seth and Jolson continued to beat each other´s senseless until security finally got them seperated, once they were, Seth takes a microphone and tells Jolson to get himself ready next month, because they are 1-1 now and tonight settled nothing to they are going to have another 1 vs. 1 match next month. Jolson agrees, telling Seth that he looks forward to overpower Seth once again. D

Kid Fantastic vs. Austin Smooth

In a decent match, Austin Smooth defeated Kid Fantastic in 6:42 by submission with a Smooth Hold. Austin Smooth makes defence number 3 of his ESE King of the Network title.

Notes: -

Performance: Kid: E-, Smooth: D

WINNER: Austin Smooth by submission in 6:42 D-

Show Rating: D-

Comments: Decent show here, nothing special in terms of ratings but it wasn´t meant to be either as it was pretty much a filler show in terms of matches. Had a hard time figuring out this card as I just didn´t really found a singles or tag match were I would had been happy about the outcome on the semi-main event spot. Main problems were that I didn´t want most of the top guys to lose there for various reasons, Joe because he´s facing Smooth, Seth & Jolson because I wanted to keep both strong before the deciding match next month and Cobra because he had most popularity at the moment and I was afraid having him to lose against enyone with less popularity as so far the losses on those have outweighted the gainst. I originally had Silencer in the match against Reeves and then Seth & Joe vs. Jolson & Cobra that would had ended in draw by double count out (with story reason being Jolson and Seth being too busy to pummel each other´s to get back into ring on time). However, once I decided to end the feuds next month (originally I thought about having another show before the end of current feuds but decided that it would be mostly stalling with no real development involved so decided against it) I realized that I wanted to have Silencer going over someone next month and Reeves was really the only option (wasn´t going to job Cobra to him as Silencer did stand on 12 popularity) and thus I changed the outcome of the tag match on last second having Jolson and Cobra win via DQ with Seth attacking Jolson (I planned to turn Seth heel after the feud and that would had foreshadowed the turn but like I said on last roster post, it was too early for that) figuring that Silencer should gain popularity there anyway and Queen shouldn´t be badly hurt with Cobra/Jolson being equal or higher popularity than him. Then I found out that the planned turns couldn´t happen, so decided to redo the tag match again, going back with the original plan expect Silencer was still in the tag match instead of Joe and Joe got the 1 vs. 1 match with Reeves (planned to have Queen there first but then realized that he just beat Rex last month). The other two matches were always going ot happen as I wanted to put another defence on Smooth before the unevitable title defence agaisnt Joe (I generally view 3 defenses as a spot were I could start to see belt changing hands and wanted to get into that territory before the blow off match). Mortimer did get his first (and potentially only) win in his ESE career as I wanted at least make him bit more legitimate opponent (not going to work but I could at least make a small effort to try to present him as such) before his match against Queen. As for compliments, well, I had to praise Smooth again as he really was out MVP (again), Silencer and Cobra also got praises for their good work. After show, Kid complained about his recent booking (yeah, it won´t get better, trust me on this Kid) and Queen told me that Garry The Entertainer is going to be a star. I could actually believe that as he´s the only one on talk to talk list and his in-ring ratings have been alright considering his a rookie with no popularity (he outperformed veteran Mad Dog on their match tonight, althought I admit the bar there is pretty low). He´s also on next big thing list just to make a point. That said, I´m pretty doubful Garry would get above jobber status on his current stint here, but he´s someone I could see myself bringing later into bigger role if right spot opens up in the future.

main event: Smooth: 19, Cobra: 20, Jolson: 19

upper midcard: Joe: 18, Queen: 19 Seth: 17

midcard: Kid: 17, Mortimer: 17, Reeves: 17

lower midcard: Silencer: 14

Enchantment talent: Garry: 6

No changes on overness front other than Silencer and Garry both getting 2 points. Good to know that the draw in the tag match didn´t affect the popularity levels as I was slighly unsure of that. 4 350$ were lost this time around and Smooth didn´t have a match in FCW this time either.

Comments: Wait, what? How did Cobra and Garry pull out a D in a throw a way match like that? I really need push Cobra towards main event do I? Well to be fair, there´s not whole lot difference between "main eventer" and "midcarder" right now anyway as shown with Cobra having the highest popularity from my guys at the moment. Still, really impressive showing from both and I made sure to tell them that after the show while also complimenting Jolson for his higher than average E+ rating in a match were his opponent had an off night. The current storylines ended with this show so it´s time to start new ones. As with the storylines and their endings, Queen over Mortimer and Smooth over Joe were planned from the beginning (yeah, I knoe, big surprises and all :p) by me but Jolson over Seth was last minute decision, originally Seth was planned to go over here but for next set of feuds, Jolson is going to have one and Seth ain´t so it made more sense to keep Jolson strong here as Seth was on 17 and Jolson on 19 before the show and putting Seth on higher popularity just served no purpose at the time being. Speaking of popularity, here´s how the overness levels look after this show:

main event: Smooth: 19, Cobra: 20, Jolson: 19

upper midcard: Joe: 18, Queen: 19 Seth: 17

midcard: Mortimer: 17, Reeves: 16, Silencer: 17

lower midcard: Kid: 17

Enchantment talent: Garry: 8

So, basically no changes expect Silencer and Garry gaining few points and Reeves loosing one. So pretty much what I would expect based on previous results so not much to talk on this one. Next post will show you my latest roster addition as I continue to grow my roster for a bit in order to find fresh feuds and getting bit more ready to move into small once that would happen. Not quite sure when that will actually happen but I should have ESE´s popularity around 12 popularity at the end of the year since I have grown 0,5% per show so far, so I´m expecting it to happen somewhere at the first half of 2018. On finances, we lost yeat another 3 530$. I´m not even going to bother mention about Smooth not getting a match in FCW (seriously, he still had none) so I´m only going to mention if he actually does something there.

Populairty around USA: E- (19 to be precise)</p><p>

Heel, Grizzled Tough</p><p>

Whittaker was released from NYCW in May 2016 and had been on my radar ever since. With me being happy about my current grades and wrestlers, I feel that I could affort experiment a little bit and Whitehorse is the guy that I plan to do so, namely I plan to see if he could be serviable main event guy for local company. Now the main reason I wanted to try this is that the only times I have seen him are in NYCW diaries and even then, he´s pretty much always been a tag team jobber and one of my favorite things to do is to try to make a star out of someone overlooked. Will I succeed? Hell no, but it won´t stop me from trying. <img alt=":D" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/biggrin.png.929299b4c121f473b0026f3d6e74d189.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /> Failing that, he could always become a valuable tag guy with Howlin´ Mad Mort when I decide to start a tag team division (and decide that I can hire employed wrestlers assuming that Mort still has a job at that point). Whittaker signed for 600$ show on three years which admittably is a bit much money thrown on an experiment for the time being, but he is in fact one of the cheapest guys I could get on that popularity level and how badly could you fail with heavyweight brawler that can play brute? </p><p>

The show starts with Justice Jolson in the ring and he promises that he has turned a new leaf on his life and now that he finally got rid of Seth Whitehead, he´s going to concentrate to be on the very top of ESE. Jolson also declares that he should have been the top guy from the beginning thanks to his might and only some extremely unfortunate circumstances and few interferences from lesser wrestlers have left him outside looking in as far as top of the ladder goes but for this day on, no one will come to his way on his quest to get into top and if someone will try... well, they are going to regret it big time. After the match, Whittaker attacks Joe and quickly beats him down before anyone could stop him. Show ends with O´Hara wondering why the attack happened. D</p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

Show Rating: D</p><p> </p><p>

Comments: D for the show were we got only one D- rated match (although that was our best rated D- match hopping 4th in our top 100 matches list so pretty close to D)? I take it, thanks angles! This show was mostly about starting storylines and trying to gain popularity for main faces. The Silencer beating Mortimer was first of those popularity gain things as both were on 17 and Silencer needs to build himself up since he´s feuding with Smooth next. Main event was also about popularity fix as it dawned me after the last show recap that four of my top five guys (in terms of popularity) are heels and thus Queen and Joe did go over Jolson and Cobra in the main event, also, Queen going over Jolson starts a storyline between the two, hence Jolson´s promo earlier in the show were he promises new rise only to be beaten in the main event. Whittaker versus Joe is going ot be the third feud at the time being. By the way, originally it was supposed to be Whitthorse vs. Jolson and Seth vs. Queen (assuming I could have turned Jolson and Seth but as said, it was too early for aligment change so those plans where put on hold). I still plan to run at least Seth vs. Queen at some point since both being TCW graduates but only Queen being hyped as such in this diary makes a decent storyline where Seth would feel that he´s been overlooked and that Queen has been handed opportunities just because he´s bragging on being graduate from TCW. As a side note, when deciding characters for original roster members, I actually wasn´t aware that Seth was also a graduate so the original reason for only Queen being hyped as one was simply because I didn´t know Seth´s history so it´s more of a happy coincidence than planning that this storyline fell into my lap but hey, everything counts right? <img alt=":D" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/biggrin.png.929299b4c121f473b0026f3d6e74d189.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p>

Reeves got a rare win over Garry mainly to ensure that he got back to 17 popularity as I need him to donate that point to Seth in order to push Seth back to 18. Whitthorse vs. Kid was mostly a filler but I also wanted to check what kind of ratings I could expect from Whitehorse. Overall, I was pretty happy about the show, angles delivered well and matches were ok quality. I praised Jolson (were that D+ angre rating came from? He was rated for entertainment not menace so I have no idea but I take it), Garry (continues to do good job with E+ ratings while other jobbers usually settle for E-) and Whittaker (D- rating from his first match gives me hope about him not being a complete miss as main event guy). Cobra would had deserved a compliment as well, but other thee have simply had less times on my good side so figured they could use the praise more.</p><p> </p><p>

Right, lets see if I managed to achieve my goal about the popularoty rise/switch</p><p>

main event: Smooth: 19, Cobra: 19, Queen: 20, Whittaker: 19</p><p>

upper midcard: Jolson: 17 Joe: 18, Seth: 17, Silencer: 18 </p><p>

midcard: Garry: 10, Kid: 17, Mortimer: 16, Reeves: 17, </p><p> </p><p>

So Cobra dropped a point while Jolson lost two points for being the guy who was pinned. Queen gained a point while Joe stayed at 18 meaning that I lost two points of popularity on that tag match, not impressive. On plus side, Silencer gained a point as planned as did Reeves. Mortimer dropped a point but that´s easy enough to replace. Garry gained 2 points, geting closer to that magical 17 points. Overall, nothing too surprising, Joe not getting any popularity was a disappointment but other than that, it was about what I expected.</p></div><p></p><p></p>

After his match, Whittaker takes a microphone and explains why he attacked Regular Joe last month. And the reason is quite simple, there´s nothing personal on that but he wants to make a big impression straight of the bat and beating former King of the Network champion will do just that. At this point, Joe interferes, telling Whittaker that he has seen this same song and dance many times before but if Whittaker things that he can use Joe as a stepping stone, he have to think again, as while Joe might indeed be just an avarage man, he´s not going to back down from a fight and Whittaker will soon learn why Joe was the first ever King of the Network champion. <span style="text-decoration:underline;">DRAW by double count out in 10:03 D</span></p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

Show Rating: D</p><p> </p><p>

Comments: This show was mostly just a build up show with evere match expect the main event being jobber vs. midcard/main event guy. Matches were booked in a way that both Seth and Jolson would hopefully push themselves back to 18 popularity while other non-jobbers would hopefully stay were thet were. The small roster size is slighly starting to cause me problems, which is one of the reasons why I did go Silencer vs. Smooth this early as ideally I would have wanted to have Silencer beating Jolson or Cobra or someone on the midcard before throwing him to title match but I just didn´t have other good options as challengers since I want to keep Queen away from Smooth at the time being (probably won´t be a big surprise if I tell that they two are going to feud soon) and everyone else has already defeated by Smooth at least once (with both Seth and Joe already having feuded with Smooth as well). The draw was there to give a reason for Silencer to challenge again as he isn´t really established enough (he has only beaten two jobbers and been on the a tag match that ended up in a draw so far) yet to get multiple shots if beaten cleanly.</p><p> </p><p>

Also, speaking of repeating match-ups, it´s also on show with Queen vs. Mortimer match as the two just had a short feud and throwing a random singles match right after that isn´t what I would like to do but Queen needed to have a match in order to set-up the angle afterwards and while I could have put him against Cobra (needed to have Seth beat Reeves in order to regain popularity as Mortimer did fall to 16 after last show and other three heels are in storylines so random losses aren´t on the card for them thus leaving me very little options), I didn´t really want to do that either so Mortimer was thrown in. Of course, signing a random guy for one shot deal is an option that would help here but I´m still planning on stubbornly refuse to do so. Overall this isn´t a big deal and hopefully I´m able to rise into small soon enough (meaning four extar guys need to join the roster thus giving me slighly more options) but just thought it´s worth to point out.</p><p> </p><p>

On the grades, itself, well, I´m obviously happy to get a D rating from a build-up show. I made sure to praise Smooth and Silencer for their performance and Seth also got a praise on dragging Reeves into D- rated match. Other than that, it was the standard E or E+ rated matches that I´m come to expect from jobber vs. bigger name matches, Whittorse and Joe didn´t have particularly good angle but then again, Joe never been good on those so it´s not a big surprise. After the show, I got a pop-up saying that Whitehorse and Mortimer are now good friends, which is nice little bonus, even if Mortimer doesn´t fit to my long term plans.</p><p> </p><p>

Popularities after this show looks like this:</p><p>

main event: Smooth: 20, Cobra: 19, Queen: 20, Whittaker: 19</p><p>

upper midcard: Jolson: 18 Joe: 18, Seth: 18, Silencer: 18 </p><p>

midcard: Garry: 12, Kid: 16, Mortimer: 17, Reeves: 16, </p><p> </p><p>

So Smooth actually gained a point on draw? That´s the first time during this save as far as I remember that someone gained a point on something else than beating guy with equal or higher popularity (assuming they already were on 17 or higher of course) so really glad to see that. Jolson and Seth also gained a point as planned as did Mortimer while Garry gained another two points so good day overall. Kid and Reeves dropped a point but that´s expected and they will likely get that back on next show.</p><p> </p><p>

On other roster news, Justice Jolson and Rex Reeves are now good friends, while Reese Paige and Rex Reeves have started dating. I was considering dropping Reeves and keeping Mortimer (who is Whitehorse´s good friend) but this might help Reeves stay over Mad Dog for one more year (whoever is going to get resigned, gets a year contract with no real chance on getting another extension after it ends). Then again, just day later I learned that Justice Jolson was signed by GSW and they hold shows on Friday week 3 every month basically meaning that I need to either chance the date of my shows or essentially losing Jolson even if he´s technically still having a contract with me for next 15 months. Now, changing the date of the show is easy to do and have no penalty as far as I know so that would be the logical solution. However, I do feel that´s bit unrealistic as Jolson ain´t really important enough name to warrant that kind of schedule change and I have had quite smooth sailing in terms of roster stability so far so I think I´m just going to accept the fact that Jolson is basically stolen from me and just hire someone else on his place. I won´t terminate his contract though as he´s basically done nothing wrong (I doubt the game would consider two promotions having same scheduled show date when talent makes their decision about signing so no point holding this over Jolson) so he´s technically part of the roster well over next year but likely won´t be actually seen unless he´s kicked out from GSW.</p></div><p></p><p></p>

Revell is someone who I would have wanted to give bigger role in my last ESE diary (he was in jobber team with Ben Williams on that one, which was back with TEW2013) but there never were the right opportunity to do so. I have considered bringing him in when we grow to small anyway but now he gets a chance to show if he can be bigger name than jobber bit earlier. He´s basically taking Jolson´s spot (4th heel) on the roster (in my mind at least since game likely have differend idea) but has chance to get higher if he performs well. Revell did leave IPW at January 2017 after 5 - 1 - 5 year with D as average match rating, he was holding their Californian title at the start of the year and dropped it to Lug Phelan in March. This year he´s only been in three independent shows with E+ ratings on all three matches so jury is a out on how useful he can be with me but I´d assume he can at least pull those E+ match ratings he´s done in independence scene and that´s going to be good enough for time being (pretty much better or equal what Jolson had). Revell signed two years contract with 600$ per show.</p><p>

After his match, Queen takes a microphone and informs audience that appearantly he´s cannot get payback on Justice Jolson for his cowardly attack last month as Jolson has taken offer from other company and since that said company has shows in the same night than ESE, Jolson is unlikely to be seen again. And since Jolson is out of the way that would free Queen for... well we don´t learn what Queen would have liked to do as he´s interrupted by a new face who introduces himself as Outlaw Wes Revell, a gunslinger for hire and he´s come here to collect a bounty that Mr. Jolson has put out on the head of Quentin Queen. Queen is angered by this, asking if Jolson really is that much of a coward that he has to send someone else to try to fight his fight? Revell answers that Mr. Jolson is moving up on his career but as a man of principles, he cannot let wrong done to him go unbunished and has thus hired Revell to finish the job. Queen is still visibly frustrated but just tells Revell that he´s been on this same song and dance many times before and if Revell thinks he can do better than those who came before him, his welcome to try. After his match, Silencer takes a microphone and demands a rematch with Smooth, declaring that since their last encounter ended on draw, he deserves another shot. Smooth comes from backstage, declaring that Silencer didn´t really deserve the first shot either but then again, no-one in ESE´s roster really doesn´t deserve a shot against greatness that is Smooth. However, Silencer is going to get another show for a very simple reason as Smooth puts it: "I have heard some dumb backstage chatter were you are declared as a real threat to me and being on the same level than me. I can´t stand when nobodies like you try to get into same limelight with me, so get youself ready for a beating on your life because I don´t share MY spotlight with anyone and once I´m done with you, nobody will mistake joke like you as my equal". Comments: Really happy about the main event and semi-main event here (well, duh, those matches are 3rd and 4th in the top 100 matches list with tag match slighly edging Silencer vs. Cobra). Also happy about Garry producing another E+ rating (huge upgrade from that E- that other jobbers use to have), unfortunaltely for Garry, I don´t really have a spot for him higher on the card at least not until we get to small and I suspect that he´s momentum would likely be too low at that point (it´s minow negative at the moment). I could see bringing him back later though if I end letting him go, either as a jobber again or even in a slighly bigger role if right spot emergences. Revell´s E+ was about what I expected and while he likely won´t carry matches that well, it´s still on serviable level and I´m pretty satisfied with my current top guys and that allows me to experiment a bit with him. Reese Page showed very late for this show, I gave her a stern warning and nothing came out of it which is fine since she hasn´t really caused any problems earlier. Main agenda booking wise here was to to fix Jolson vs. Queen (which was left into bit of an ankward spot) now that Jolson is gone to Revell vs. Queen and to try to push Slencer´s popularity up a bit by having him go over Cobra. Other matches were more or less "keep things going" type matches were I don´t expect much changes in terms of popularity. Main event helps moving Joe vs. Whittaker forward and shouldn´t hurt anyone´s popularity since Seth and Joe are step below Smooth and Whittaker to begin with (won´t likely help anyone´s popularity either). Mortimer got a win over Kid mainly because I decided to have 5th match and Mortimer is still the jobber I plan to keep extra year (over Reeves, Kid is also on his way out) while Revell ande Queen got "keep momentum going" wins over jobbers, or in Revell´s case, I guess it´s more along the lines of "start gaining some momentum and establish yourself". I praised Silencer and Cobra for their match as well as Garry again, mostly because I´d like to reward him at least somehow for being so much ahead of other jobbers I have (although to be fair, he also has style that fits better than say Kid or Reeves).</p><p> </p><p>

Popularities after this show looks like this:</p><p>

main event: Smooth: 20, Queen: 20, Joe: 19, Silencer: 19 </p><p>

upper midcard: Jolson: 18, Revell: 18, Seth: 18, Whittaker: 19</p><p>

midcard: Cobra: 17, Kid: 17, Mortimer: 17, Reeves: 17</p><p>

lower midcard: Garry: 14 </p><p> </p><p>

Wait, Joe got a point by being on the losing side of a tag match? That´s great news and makes me more happy than I probably shoud be but I was seriously questioning if anything expect wins for guy at same or above popularity would ever raise your popularity so this and that point from draw Smooth gained in last show really helps to gain some faith back on managing to eventually rise my guys popularity over that damn 17 points. Other than that, Silencer gained a point by beating Cobra who unfortunalely dropped back to 17 (guess who´s going to have match against Kid in next show in order to push him back to 18). Kid and Rex also climbed back to 17 while Garry got another two points to push himself up to 14. I decided to keep Jolson on this list as well since he´s part of the roster and thus affect pushes for other guys but he´s popularity ain´t going to change for obvious reasons. On finance side, we lost 4,503$ this month.</p></div><p></p><p></p>

Smooth and Revell come to the ring, and with Smooth doing the talking, he informs that he and Revell will face Quentin Queen and The Silencer in this night´s main event and that Smooth is going to show why he´s the top dog here, warning Revell to stay out of his way tonight. Revell simply looks uninterested, informing Smooth that Smooth and Silencer doesn´t concern him, he has a bounty to take and that´s only thing he cares. Queen and Silencer ends the conversation by coming into ringside, telling the heel pair that they better get into same page because they are going to be in for a hell of a match tonight as both Silencer and Queen have something to prove here, Silencer to show that he´s a legitimate contender for Smooth while Queen has to fend off yet another person who seeks to beat him in order to advance he´s own status, even if it´s the case of collecting bounty this time instead of gaining name value as has been case before. Comments: Well, we had have better shows but this was still alright. On booking side, there´s nothing particularly big deveopments here, main event nicely forwarded two feuds and gave a good match while doing so, while Joe and Whittaker clashed for the first time (though Whittaker was bit unhappy being on the losing side). This left Cobra and Seth (who are without storyline at the moment and this least important from top 8 guys) to pick up wins (and help Cobra get back to 18). The main surprise probably was putting Garry over Rex as Garry doesn´t really benefit from it popularity wise. My reasoning for that is that Rex is on his way out after his current contract ends so popularity or worsening mood ain´t really problems with him. Also, with growing into small being closer and closer and me being happy with the current top guys, my current plans for 4 new guys (16 is the required number of wrestlers for small promotion, hence the need to add four guys when I grow to small, and no, I don´t count Jolson even though the game would) is to hire guys for lower end of the card and use more like a 8/8 split (instead of main event, midcard and jobbers as have been the case so far) with Queen, Silencer, Joe, Seth, Smooth, Whittaker, Cobra and Revell being the top end and rest being jobbers/lower midcard guys. This should mean that I have bit more chances to give lower end guys some wins and hopefully thus allowing them to climb up on the ladders if opportunities arrive or one of my top end guys leaves. And while this chance is too late to help Rex, Kid or Mortimer, I do hope that I could potentially keep Garry longer in my roster and hence a win here to help keep his momentum up a bit. I still assume it will be more likely for me to drop Garry at some point than to keep him but I´d like to keep the option open for time being (with other lower end guys needing to get up to 17 popularity when I sign them, I assume Garry is going to benefit with few extra wins until rest of the guys have catched up on him thus potentially helping his momentum a bit if it hadn´t tanked too badly before that). I complimented Silencer (still new so he doesn´t have happiness bonus yet and he did get a D for his personal match rating), Whittaker (more just to try to affect he´s morale a positive way after he complained about the loss and yes, I know I have previously denied a praise for complaining but most of the main guys currently have positive morale thanks to constant praises so might as well pick those who could still use the bonus) and Queen (D- rating is the best he have gotten so far if memory serves).</p><p> </p><p>

Popularities after this show looks like this:</p><p>

main event: Smooth: 20, Queen: 20, Joe: 19, Silencer: 19 </p><p>

upper midcard: Jolson: 18, Revell: 18, Seth: 18, Whittaker: 19</p><p>

midcard: Cobra: 18, Garry: 17, Mortimer: 17, Reeves: 16</p><p>

lower midcard: Kid: 16</p><p> </p><p>

So Cobra gained a point, Garry picked up the missing three putting him on 17 while Reeves lost only one point as did Kid. Bit surprised that main event and semi-main event didn´t change popularities at all but overall, I´m fine with it here. ESE made another 4230$ loss this month so losses keep coming but we still have plenty of money in the bank (892 571$ to be precise) so not worried on that (yet). Mad Dog Mortimer´s contract was up as well and I signed 1 year extension (likely his last) with 300$ per show again.</p></div><p></p><p></p>

Before the next match, Cobra comes into ring. He declares that he won´t be speaking for long and is just here to remind everyone that the snake is still here, laying low at the moment, waiting and ready to strike at the right moment. Cobra doesn´t get any further as Garry the Entertainer cames to ringside. Garry appearently wants to ask if he´s monkey and Cobra´s snake could be friends, and declares that he knows the two of them would have good time together. Cobra smiles an unsettling smile before answering that snakes don´t have friends, but that he´s hungry for wins and Garry might just be right appetizer to keep Cobra distracted until it´s time to strike against bigger prey so he will meet Garry in the ring next month. In a decent match, Austin Smooth defeated The Silencer in 12:30 by submission with a Smooth Hold after blatantly cheating. Austin Smooth makes defence number 6 of his ESE King of the Network title. </p><p>

Notes: -</p><p>

Performance: Silencer: D, Smooth: D</p><p>

<span style="text-decoration:underline;">WINNER: Austin Smooth by submission after cheating in 12:30 D</span></p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

Show Rating: D</p><p> </p><p>

Comments: Smooth and Silencer deliver again in the main event (Best match in ESE so far slighly edging their previous encounter) after on ok but unspectacular undercard. Also, first time our show had more than 100 audience too. Booking this show was pretty straight forward, I decided early on that Silencer and Smooth would face second time while Revell and Queen would also clash. I was originally bit unhappy about having Smooth and Silencer face off so early for the second time (other two feuds just had their first clash in this or last show) but I figured I could use the typical heel champ avoids face challenger story to keep Smooth and Silencer away from each other´s for a little while (hence Smooth winning here via cheating to give a bit of legitimity to his claim while not making Silencer´s demands for rematch to sound unwarranted either). Now, this storyline ain´t anything new since I used pretty much the same idea during Smooth vs. Joe but if it works well then why fix it? Actually, don´t answer that one please. <img alt=":D" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/biggrin.png.929299b4c121f473b0026f3d6e74d189.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p>

My lack of creativity aside (or probably continuing it but whatever), the rest of the card was pretty quick to put together as well with Whittaker and Joe picking wins while Whittaker cuts a basic, "you beat me once but it won´t happen again" promo to keep feud going. I also gave Seth a win while also threw an angle between Conbra and Garry, mainly because I wanted to see how Garry performs in angles (D rating promises good things there and certainly won´t hurt Garry) considering that he´s the only guy in my talk the talk list. The angle won´t lead into anything other than one shot match next month but it gave me a chance to evaluate Garry a bit more since he´s decent match rates combined with his mic skills have made me wonder if I should try to find bigger role for him (also not having a match in this show helps to keep his momentum slighly higher before we get to small and I can hire more lower card guys to help as discussed on previous post). I praised Smooth, Silencer and Garry after the show, first two for their good main event match and Garry for succeeding on his promo when I gave him the chance. Also, I finally remebered to tweak Mortimer´s gimmick, probably about year too late but still.</p><p> </p><p>

Annnd it´s time to check the popularities again:</p><p>

main event: Smooth: 21, Queen: 20, Joe: 19, Silencer: 20 </p><p>

upper midcard: Jolson: 18, Revell: 18, Seth: 18, Whittaker: 19</p><p>

midcard: Cobra: 18, Garry: 17, Mortimer: 17, Reeves: 17</p><p>

lower midcard: Kid: 17</p><p> </p><p>

Both Smooth and Silencer gained a point! So did Reeves and Kid but that´s expected. Four points gained and none lost likely makes this our most successful show on overness point-of-view since the early days. Now I didn´t actually check if that claim is true or not but I don´t at least remember having a show in last year or so where roster would have gained this much popularity (and not lost a similar amound). </p><p> </p><p>

On finances side, we lost 4 016$ this month. And speaking of losing money, several contracts were up with Dana O´Hara, Reese Page, Regular Joe and Cobra all having their current contracts ending. O´Hara actually demanded only 600$ per show (he had 800$ before), not sure why but I took the opportunity to sign him for next 3 years. Reese similarly demanded less (600$ per show instead of 700$) so I signed her too for next three years. I wonder if the reason is that now that we are closer to small I could better affort bringing more talented people to their roles so they are demanding less in order to make them as more affortable options and thus leaving with me keeping them instead of hiring other´s? Anyway, I have no intention on putting more money on those positions any time soon (and could just fire them if I so decide in future although I´m quite unlikely to do so as it´s just against my character to break contracts) so I take the pay cuts. Cobra was willing to work for 400$ per show, a 100$ more than before but it´s still a bargain so I made sure to sign him for three years as well. Joe, on the other hand wanted 800$ per month (was 600$ before)... That´s a bit borderline call as Joe has been behind not only Smooth and Silencer but also Cobra and Seth on personal match performance ratings and he´s angles aren´t great either... on the other hand, he´s a solid hand (Joe and Cobra are the only show stoppers/ring generals I have) and I would like to keep my first King of the Network champion around as he´s title run makes him creditable and that would make beating him a bigger deal... Then again, do I really want a guy who´s essentially main event gatekeeper now (he´s basically number three face behind Silencer and Queen at this point, although he´s pretty close to Queen on performance) to be my highest paid wrestler? In the end, I answered yes, mainly because I felt that I have invested into him enough (being first champ and has been booked pretty strong otherwise too) that I should keep him but I only gave him two years contract (was thinking about giving just a year but then again I don´t really want him to demand more after that) instead of the three I gave the other three and we will revaluate Joe after that contract runs it´s course. So overall, I stay even on money here with Reese and O´Hara taking 300$ less but Cobra nad Joe making 300$ more. Of course, it´s easier to leave wrestlers out from the shows so the expenses are in slighly more avoitable place than before.</p></div><p></p><p></p>

Show starts with Smooth in the ring, reminding everyone that he´s the greatest wrestler there ever have been and now that he dealt with Silencer, it´s time to give other "deserving" hopefuls a shot. Smooth´s self hyping is stopped by Silencer who declares that he still has his guns set on Smooth as Smooth win was tainted and that means the war will continue. Smooth is clearly annoyed by distraction and tells Silencer that there´s no "fair" in war, just winners and losers and Silencer belongs to latter camp and won´t gain another shot on the belt. Silencer counters that Smooth can try to run away and hide, but sooner or later, Silencer has Smooth on his crosshair again, and that time, no amound of cheating will keep Smooth away from a loss. Joe doesn´t get time to celebrate his win as he´s interfered by Whittaker, who tells Joe that he´s not here to beat him this time around, but if Joe wants to see what´s waiting for him, he should watch Whitehorse´s match which is next. Joe says that he will need to catch a shower but that he will certainly watch Whittaker´s match later and as far as he´s concerned, he´s ready to take Whittaker whenever it´s asked for. Whittaker reply that it will be asked very soon, as this little side episode has been taking far too long already and it´s time to Joe to become that good little stepping stone that he will be. And if Joe is smart, he doesn´t let this drag any longer as it´s going to be more and more painful to him the longer it takes which is going to demonstrated next, as Kid Fantastic has challanged Whittaker again despite losing to him last month and he´s going to become an example of what happens when you waste Whittaker´s time. Joe answers that he won´t back down and it will be Whittaker, who´s going to be a stepping stone for Joe to get another shot at King of the Network belt. D-</p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

Whittaker is clearly still fired up by his talks with Regular Joe and wants to set up the example he was talking about as he isn´t satisfied by just winning the match. Instead, he continues to beat Kid down after his win and by the time he finishes, Kid has to be carried away with stretcher. Meantime, Whittaker looks at the camera and tells Joe that he hopes Joe didn´t yet put on clean underwear after his shower as it would have been shame if he needed to change it again, as surely Joe now understands that he´s messed with wrong person and that Whittaker ain´t anyone´s stepping stone. Quentin Queen & Seth Whitehead vs. Austin Smooth & Outlaw Wes Revell</p><p> </p><p>

In a decent match, Austin Smooth and Outlaw Wes Revell defeated Quentin Queen and Seth Whitehead in 9:57 when Austin Smooth defeated Seth Whitehead by submission with a Smooth Hold.</p><p>

Notes: -</p><p>

Performance: Queen: D-, Seth: D, Smooth: D, Revell: D-</p><p>

<span style="text-decoration:underline;">WINNERS: Austin Smooth & Outlaw Wes Revell by submission in 9:57 D</span></p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

Show Rating: D</p><p> </p><p>

Comments: Rather standard formula here with four jobber vs. bigger name matches followed by tag team main event so not much to say here other than noting that Revell got one over Queen with the tag win in order to even the score a bit while Seth played to number four face role (he also have no storyline at the moment, and that usually means extra loss or two in these kinds of situations) by taking the pin. Still managed to pull a D grade for the show despite this basically being a "filler" show so no complains. I complimented Whittaker (two nices angles and good rating on the match too), Seth (D is on the upper scale of his perfomance level so good work getting that on main event) and Revell (mostly because I haven´t praised him yet, Silencer would had been more deserving but he will get plenty of praise so decided to give this one to Revell since he had an ok performance in the main event). </p><p> </p><p>

And it´s popularity check time again, I don´t expect much changes from this show but lets see if the game agrees with me:</p><p> </p><p>

main event: Smooth: 21, Queen: 20, Seth: 19 , Silencer: 20 </p><p>

upper midcard: Jolson: 18, Revell: 18, Joe: 19, Whittaker: 19</p><p>

midcard: Cobra: 18, Garry: 17, Mortimer: 17, Reeves: 17</p><p>

lower midcard: Kid: 17</p><p> </p><p>

Well, the game didn´t agree with me, giving Seth a point and pushing him to main event despite being the guy who ate the pin. Surprised about that but won´t complain either. This will also be Kid Fantastic´s last show as while he´s current contract still runs for next show, he´s gone after that and I decided to write him off here by having Whittaker destroy him after his match in order to sell Whittaker´s character a bit more. On finances side, it was another 3 853$ lost meaning that out bank is now 886 106$.</p></div><p></p><p></p>

Dustin Deuce</p><p>

Age: 17</p><p>

Popularity in USA: F-</p><p>

Face, Goth</p><p>

Deuce is yet another youngster that will be paying his dues by jobbing and collecting some experience. As stated before, young, untested guys are my favorite jobber material as they the ones I see benefitting the most by their role as it gives them time to develop their skill set without putting any real pressure on them. Deuce will replace Kid as the bottom of the barrel guy on face side so don´t expect him to gain many wins, even when I get to small and try to start dealing occasional wins to lower card guys, there´s always going to be someone who gains none (or one at most) and Deuce is likely going to be that guy as he´s cruiserweight style is once again (story of pretty much all my jobbers) the factor that holds him back. Deuce was willing to sign with just 200$ per month (200$ cheaper than Kid) so I signed him for two years contract. I put him into Goth gimmick mostly just to differ him from all the clubber and other happy-go-lucky jobbers I have had, it won´t really play any big role since he´s not planned to have any storylines.</p><p>

With little better roster management than mine, I could see that working without needing to let the guy go or perhaps turn or something else whould be enough to gain some lost momentum back? Either way, building your own stars is certainly more satisfying than signing a guy who´s already a big name.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> Roster Review:</p><p> </p><p> It´s time for the roster review. The roster did shape a bit during the year with guys like Revell, Silencer, Whittaker and Garry added into roster while Ramone is technically the only guy who had left so far (in reality Reeves, Jolson and Kid are all on their way out when they current contracts run out). Like I wrote earlier, currently the plan is to add guys below current top 8 when the need to add more guys will arise (should happen around 3 - 4 shows from now) so current top guys will likely stay there barring someone leaving or getting into my bad side. That might always change if need for better guys become obvious (basically if there´s a regional war that includes ESE which shouldn´t happen to my knowledge) but at the moment I´m happy with my roster and decided to try to add as little extra financical losses as possible since I´m not certain how moving into small would affect the income or expenses (both will likely go up but not sure how much). In earlier games, income did rise plenty more than expenses but the way the sponsor money works in this game, I´m not certain if it works the same way here and hence play it carafully for the first few months (plus it would be nice to get back some of the lost money, not that it´s really needed but makes me feel slighly better about my finances if I could gather bit of the lost money back). </p><p> </p><p> I will also rate my roster into two halfs going forward, top 8 and bottom 8. I do also distribute the top half (and likely bottom 8 too but that depents a bit who I hire) on "main eventers" and "upper midcarders" with Queen, Silencer, Smooth and Whittaker currently being he "main event" talents and Joe, Seth, Revell and Cobra being the "upper midcard" guys. To be fair, there´s very little difference between the two groups and upper midcarders can go over main event guys, but main eventers are generally valued slighly more and thus more likely to be kept strong. This also help myself to keep in mind very everyone stands as I tend to run pretty strict pecking order. Either way, below is my current thoughs about my roster.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> NOTE: Average match rating is from the current year.</p><p> </p><p> Main event:</p><p> </p><p> <img alt="bsGXr0s.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/bsGXr0s.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="ZiG1u8d.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/ZiG1u8d.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> Austin Smooth:</p><p> Age: 23</p><p> Heel, Prima Donna.</p><p> Record (in ESE): 9 - 1 - 1 (16 - 2 - 5)</p><p> Average match Rating (in ESE): D</p><p> Smoot really delivered this year, rising his average match rating from E+ to D and from the 9 D rated matches ESE have had so far, Smooth has had part on 7 out from the 9 including all current top 5 matches so not hard to see that he´s the biggest star so far (though Silencer will no doubt make a case for himself with more matches under his belt). Being current champ means very few losses and place in the spotlight so expect Smooth to be one of the main focuses for next year as well.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> <img alt="1OOBqpp.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/1OOBqpp.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> Quentin Queen</p><p> Age: 24</p><p> Face, Blue Chipper</p><p> Record (in ESE): 9 - 0 - 1 (17 - 1 - 4)</p><p> Average match Rating (in ESE): D-</p><p> I was a bit surprised to see Queen´s win/loss record as that wasn´t intentional but it does make sense in hindsight as Queen weren´t in storylines for most of the year (expect his short feud with Mortimer and current feud with Revell) and while not being in feuds usually means few extra losses, Queen had high enough status (being basically number 1 or 2 face depending on how you rate him and Silencer) that I wasn´t willing to job him and no storylines meant that he didn´t have storyline reasons to lose either (until december were he´s only loss came in the tag match). Perhaps the lack of high profile match also explains the fact that Queen has only been part of 2 out of the 9 D rated matches and both are tag matches. Overall, Queen has been slight disappointment so far but I´m still packing him up as one of my top guys and he will have big role this year, with another feud lined up after his current one with Revell.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> <img alt="PduipuV.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/PduipuV.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> Seth Whitehead</p><p> Age: 24</p><p> Face, Bad Ass</p><p> Record (in ESE): 5 - 1 - 5 (13 - 1 - 9)</p><p> Average match Rating (in ESE): D-</p><p> Much like Cobra last year, Seth has suprise main event push at the moment and is still considered as number four face behind Silencer, Queen and Joe. That said, Seth has been pretty solid on his role, being part of 3 out of the 9 D rated matches (number 3, 4 and 5 on the list, though two out of the three are tag matches) and has continued to impress me. Seth and Cobra have certainly been the highlights in terms of cost vs. ratings and I would recommend them to anyone who´s playing with local companies. Seth will likely stay on midcard/upper midcard push for next year as well but with the plan being to include guys below him, I´d assume he could win few more matches this year now that there´s more guys I don´t mind losing to Seth.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> <img alt="vvyWO0h.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/vvyWO0h.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> The Silencer</p><p> Age: 35</p><p> Face, Armed Forces</p><p> Record (in ESE): 5 - 1 - 2</p><p> Average match Rating (in ESE): D-</p><p> Silencer did make a big impact from the beginning and half of his matches can be found in current top 10 with him being in 4 out of the 9 D rated matches including the top 2 matches in company´s history (both title matches against Smooth). Silencer will certainly play a big part in future too assuming he isn´t stolen from me (if someone is, it´s likely going to be him, right?) and if Smooth is the top heel performance wise, Silencer have already proven that he can carry the face side on similar manner. </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> Upper Midcard:</p><p> </p><p> <img alt="ETtXsFn.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/ETtXsFn.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> Justice Jolson</p><p> Age: 28</p><p> Heel, Strongman</p><p> Record (in ESE): 4 - 1 - 3 (11 - 1 - 8)</p><p> Average match Rating (in ESE): E+</p><p> Jolson is still technically part of the roster (has about year left on his contract) but realisticly, he´s not expected to take part into any of our shows. He didn´t appear any D rated matches during his stay but that´s partly because GSW signed him just before those started to be more common. Jolson haven´t had any matches in GSW yet so I´m hoping he doesn´t get same treatment than Smooth in FCW. Overall, if I was to lose someone from the original top 6, Jolson was the best one to leave as while he was good monster heel, there´s no sortage on those even with my current hiring restrictions on.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> <img alt="R4wPrpL.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/R4wPrpL.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> Outlaw Wes Revell</p><p> Age: 26</p><p> Heel, Cowboy</p><p> Record (in ESE): 2 - 0 - 2</p><p> Average match Rating (in ESE): D-</p><p> As said when I hired him, Revell is bit of an experiment and so far he has done alright job on showing that he deserved the spot I gave him. Out from the 4 matches he have had, 2 show up in top 9 matches list (so are D rated) although both of them are tag matches including Silencer and/or Smooth. Still, solid start and time will tell if he manages to keep his spot in top 4 heels list or if new names are eventually going to take his spot.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> <img alt="M9kMTmh.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/M9kMTmh.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> Regular Joe</p><p> Age: 28</p><p> Face, Blue Collar</p><p> Record (in ESE): 7 - 0 - 3 (17 - 1 - 4)</p><p> Average match Rating (in ESE): D-</p><p> Joe hasn´t quite managed to get the match ratings (and generally he has worse angles than most other guys too so no help there either) I was hoping and with Silencer being included into company, Joe has now been pushed to number three face spot behing Silencer and Queen which is probably not where the highest paid guy should be. Then again, that was always the plan and Joe is certainly solid midcard guy to have and that King of the Notwork title run will keep him as decently big name to either challenge for the belt or to someone else to beat depending what the current plan happens to be at any given time. Joe has shown up in 2 out of the 9 D rated matches the company have had so far.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> <img alt="02tjC91.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/02tjC91.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> Whitehorse Whittaker</p><p> Age: 30</p><p> Heel, Grizzled Tough</p><p> Record (in ESE): 5 - 0 - 1</p><p> Average match Rating (in ESE): E+</p><p> Whittaker has been decent but not spectacular hand so far, as while he´s match average is only E+ instead of D-, 3 out of those six matches were agains Kid Fantastic who ain´t exactly known for his good match ratings here so I cut Whitehorse some slack. Plus he´s basically the current monster heel and he´s not doing any worse than Jolson was in terms of match ratings. Whittaker had been 1 out of the 9 D rated matches and he´s currently considered as number 2 heel behind Smooth althought that´s certainly a position that is up for competition right now.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> Midcard:</p><p> </p><p> <img alt="HwG9s5O.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/HwG9s5O.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> Cobra</p><p> Age: 26</p><p> Heel, Snake</p><p> Record (in ESE): 6 - 1 - 3 (12 - 1 - 7)</p><p> Average match Rating (in ESE): D-</p><p> As said with Seth, Cobra and Seth has been likely the biggest positive suprises so far in this diary as both have proven to be very solid guys in terms of match and angle ratings and I love to have guys like them on my midcard. Cobra is basically number four heel at the moment but things are close between him, Revell and Whitehorse and I wouldn´t be entirely surprised if Cobra is the one coming out on top out of those three. He´s also my favorite character so far in this diary and while the plan is to keep him putting up good ratings on the midcard for now I could see potential main event push in the future (no promises there) if things align right. As with most other of my current top 8, Cobra also has also been included on 2 out of 9 D rated matches so far.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> <img alt="gGnd4Jj.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/gGnd4Jj.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> Garry The Entertainer</p><p> Age: 23</p><p> Face, Bubbly Babyface</p><p> Record (in ESE): 1 - 0 - 7</p><p> Average match Rating (in ESE): E+</p><p> Garry did manage to impress me with his first year and as a result, is getting slighly bigger role than what I originally had in mind for him. Not a big one, mind you, I guess in terms of push he would be considered lower midcard guy instead of opener now so not a big push but it´s an improment. Expect Garry to pick up few more wins with me planning to bring in some new talent near the bottom of the roster. Garry would at least initially start this year as number 5 face and while that doesn´t really tell much right now (after all there´s only 6 faces total at the moment), it´s meaning a bit more when we grew to small as then he´s improved into being second last to be around middle of the back (assuming I keep the current plan to hire wrestlers on the lower end of the roster). </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> <img alt="9MqkHxv.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/9MqkHxv.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> Mad Dog Mortimer</p><p> Age: 40</p><p> Heel, Old School Heel</p><p> Record (in ESE): 2 - 0 - 8 (2 - 0 - 20)</p><p> Average match Rating (in ESE): E+</p><p> Mortimer did get a 3rd year in the company, which is more than I expected him to stay when I started but it almost certainly be his last as there´s only so long you can keep things going when you are booked to lose pretty much every match you are put into. Nothing much to say here, Mortimer has been ok hands on the lower card and doesn´t complain much on losses and few guys like that have always place in my companies. Ratings haven´t been great but I don´t expect jobbers to pull off good ratings anyway so that´s not a big deal either. </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> <img alt="xv97ilD.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/xv97ilD.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> Rex Reeves</p><p> Age: 38</p><p> Heel, Evil Doer</p><p> Record (in ESE): 1 - 0 - 11 (2 - 0 - 19)</p><p> Average match Rating (in ESE): E+</p><p> Reeves is on his way out not because anything he has done but more because there´s occasional need to cycle the roster a bit and jobbers are the easiest guys to cut lose. Much like Mortimer, he haven´t complained, haven´t caused problems in backstage and haven´t compltely sucked in-ring and that´s all I ask from jobbers so Rex did he´s part here but it´s time to move on. Unfortunaltely for Rex, him being on time decline and not being very good likely means that he´s going to spend rest of his career at intependence scene.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> Lower Midcard:</p><p> </p><p> <img alt="XvsxvrU.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/XvsxvrU.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> Kid Fantastic:</p><p> Age: 20</p><p> Face, Clubber</p><p> Record (in ESE): 1 - 0 - 10 (2- 0 - 18)</p><p> Average match Rating (in ESE): E+</p><p> Much the same goes for Kid than did go with Reeves as well, so he´s on his way out but not because he has done something bad. Kid has been quite inconsistent with his performance being off his game way more than anyone else on the roster but again, that´s isn´t really an issue for jobber guys in promotion this small. Hopefully Kid did develop during his stay here and hopefully that will help him land a job elsewhere, ideally somewhere were his style has better shot of succeeding. Also, unlike Reeves who´s not likely to been seen again because of his age and time decline status, I could see Kid returning at some point, although I don´t foresee him ever being higher than jobber based on this run.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> Enchantment Talent:</p><p> </p><p> <img alt="NwsGwG5.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/NwsGwG5.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> Dustin Deuce</p><p> Age: 17</p><p> Face, Goth</p><p> Record (in ESE): -</p><p> Average match Rating (in ESE): -</p><p> Not much to say here, as Dustin just joined. Whitehorse´s victory celebration is cut short with Regular Joe coming into ringside stating that what Whittaker did to Kid Fantastic in last show was unforgivable and even though he´s nothing but a common man, he will stand up against bullies like Whittaker but that has to wait until next month as tonight, Joe has more important matters to handle namely, trying to get back the King of the Network belt that he once carried. Whittaker declares that Joe is fool if he things he can take his eyes of on Whittaker just to try to retrieve a belt but that´s Joe´s mistake and Whittaker is going to capitalize on that. After his match, Silencer have few words to Smooth, telling him to watch his six as Silencer is still after him despite what Smooth thinks and while Smooth can run for a while he cannot hide and sooner or later, Silencer is going to seek and destroy Smooth. Regular Joe vs. Austin Smooth</p><p> </p><p>

In a decent match, Austin Smooth defeated Regular Joe in 11:34 by submission with a Smooth Hold after interference from Whitehorse Whittaker. Austin Smooth makes defence number 7 of his ESE King of the Network title. </p><p> </p><p>

Performance: Joe: D-, Smooth: D</p><p>

<span style="text-decoration:underline;">WINNER: Austin Smooth by pinfall in 11:34 D</span></p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

Show Rating: D</p><p> </p><p>

Comments: Nice start to new year with D rated main event and D- semi-main even though two off the four guys are classified as jobbers. Not much to talk about the show itself, kind of filler show in the way that all storylines were forwarded by angles (meaning matches tend to be bit on the easy to predict side), expect Whittaker vs. Joe was also forwarded via match mainly to give Joe reason to lose without looking weak (I guess losing to the main champ wouldn´t exactly considered "looking weak" either way) and it forwarded the feud nicely while gave Smooth a nice title defense, so why not. . I complimented Joe and Smooth for their good main event (3rd best on top 100 list at the moment) as well as Silencer who absolutely nailed the angle with D+ rating. Reeves did complain about booking after the show, guess he haven´t got the memo yet but he will realize soon that there´s a reason he haven´t been booked strong.</p><p> </p><p>

Don´t expect much changes on popularity after this show but lets give a look:</p><p>

main event: Smooth: 21, Queen: 20, Joe: 20 , Silencer: 20 </p><p>

upper midcard: Jolson: 18, Revell: 18, Seth: 19 , Whittaker: 19</p><p>

midcard: Cobra: 18, Garry: 17, Mortimer: 17, Reeves: 17</p><p>

lower midcard: Kid: 17</p><p>

Enchantment Talent: Deuce: 4</p><p> </p><p>

So Joe did gain a point while Deuce gained 4. Not bad, Joe gaining a point was certainly a bonus, other than that it was about as barren as expected since none of the matches weren´t really made with popularity gains on mind. On finances side, we lost 3 349$ this month. There´s also pair of bad news between this and next show. First is that my production department now has warnings for potential penalties. I think I will look how those affect before fixing them as I would like to finally make a profit after losing money for two years straight. Second and bigger bad news is that GSW decided to hire another one of my wrestlers, as they hired Seth Whitehead. This means that Seth now has the same deal than Jolson and is effectively out from ESE as I´m still stuppornly refuse to change the show date. I just hope that they actually use Seth as well unlike what they did with Jolson or what FCW is doing with Smooth</p><p>

As said during roster review, Kid is leaving and while would had been available in last show, I decided to sell his beating on hands of Whitehorse a bit and thus he had his last match with us in December. I´m not against bringing Kid back later if right spot appears but at least for the time being, he has to look his fortune elsewhere.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

Freedom Eagle</p><p>

Age: 25</p><p>

Popularity in USA: F+ (10 in Puerto Rico)</p><p>

Face, Patriot</p><p>

Eagle is the man who I look to replace Seth as my number four face, he mainly got the spot by being one of the few guys with any experience and popularity that were willing to work for 400$ (or less) and who had a style that fits to my product. Eagle was just recently cut from NYCW and was actually cut in January just in time to be signed by me. He´s record for last year was 2 wins and 6 losses with D- as average match rating. I don´t expect him to be quite as good as Seth was as my normal experience is that I generally don´t manage to get quite the same ratings from guys that what AI can but we see if he can become a good replacement or if I need to find another guy to fill Seth´s spot. Eagle signed a three year deal with 400$ per show and I remembered to not offer travel expenses this time around (yeah, I know I said I won´t stop offering those but decided to do so anyway after putting a bit more though on it as I would like to finally stop losing money). He will run his default Patriot gimmick for no other reason than that mask giving me hard time to figure any other suitable gimmick for him. </p><p>

Before his match tonight, Smooth takes a microphone and mocks Silencer telling him that he´s not good enough to face Smooth again after failing twice and that since he knows Silencer is trained not to think a whole lot (after all, you are trained to obey in army) he can watch his match tonight in order to realize his superiority and maybe it would finally go through to Silencer´s thick skull that he can´t never hope to beat Smooth and it would be good idea for him to make a "tactical withdraw". Freedom Eagle vs. Austin Smooth</p><p> </p><p>

In a decent match, Austin Smooth defeated Freedom Eagle in 9:04 by pinfall with a Fireman's Carry Cutter. Austin Smooth makes defence number 8 of his ESE King of the Network title. </p><p>

Notes: Eagle debuted Patriot gimmick with Above Average rating</p><p>

Performance: Eagle: E, Smooth: D</p><p>

<span style="text-decoration:underline;">WINNER: Austin Smooth by submission in 9:08 D-</span></p><p> </p><p>

Show Rating: D-</p><p> </p><p>

Comments: Well, that didn´t go too well as Joe got minor concussion (will be out 27 days so not a big deal) and Queen was also angry after his match since Cobra almost injured him with botched move (he and Cobra have simmering tension for now). Show also appeared worse because of production values being lower than our rivals. On top of that, none of the matches managed to break D- rating, and Eagle was a bit of a disappointment in the main event but that´s what I get for booking new guy immidiately on the main event. Booking wise, I put Eagle straight into title match mainly to give Smooth a decent defence and also to see how Eagle could perform with my top heel. Other than that, Whitetaker and Joe clashed a second time, making the score 1 - 1 before the last encounter while Revell and Queen continued their feud with tag match followed by assault angle. The current storylines are drawing near their end and there will likely be just 1 - 2 shows before the final matches. Note that Revell and Queen have only clashed once and I plan them only to clash once more, reason for this being that I´m slighly unconfortable on putting Revell over Queen at the moment and thus decided to skip the second match as I feel that it´s slighly harder to give good reasoning to continue a feud were someone loses the first two matches (although I have done so before as can be seen in Joe vs. Jolson feud back in 2016). I guess I could have had second match end into draw or DQ win for Queen to keep the story going but decided to just have two encounters as breaking the basic formula every now and then is a good idea in my mind. Other than that, Garry gets himself a win over leaving Reeves that hopefully sees him get up to 18 popularity. Now I´m sure he loses that point soon enough for either Revell or Cobra but hopefully I can keep him howering between 17 and 18 popularity for little while as I´m starting to get in the point were I would need to try to push jobbers past that 17 points if I want to have matches against them helping my guys popularity. I complimented Queen, Revell and Garry after the show. Reeves decided to complain about his recent booking after the show but considering he had four days left on his contract at that point, I´m not sure why he bothered. On the plus side we still gained another 0,5% on popularity, putting us on 13 % (but still not enough to get us into small).</p><p> </p><p>

Roster´s popularity check time!</p><p>

main event: Smooth: 21, Queen: 20, Seth: 19, Silencer: 20 </p><p>

upper midcard: Garry: 17, Jolson: 18, Revell: 18, Whittaker: 20</p><p>

midcard: Cobra: 18, Eagle: 12, Mortimer: 17, Reeves: 16</p><p>

lower midcard: Deuce: 7</p><p>

Out injured: Joe: 17 </p><p> </p><p>

So, Whittaker got a point and Joe lost 3 in the progress... not good but it is what it is. Other than that, Reeves lost a point (no-one cares) and Eagle gained two and Deuce three points. Notably Garry didn´t rise to 18 put still has higher push than Cobra so I´d assume he gained a something there, just not quite enough to push him all the way to 18. GSW hold a show on the same day and didn´t use either Jolson nor Seth at all. On finances, we "only" lost 2 579$ this month but we didn´t use Silencer or Mortimer either so that explains why finances were bit better than normally.</p></div><p></p><p></p>

Kirk Drury</p><p>

Age: 28</p><p>

Popularity in USA: F-</p><p>

Heel, Ravishing</p><p>

I had already picked up the guys who I wanted to sign when growing into small (+ one extra to replace Reeves) and while all of them are cheap and would be classified as lower tier workers by me, Drury is the one who I hope would be on the top of that group and thus he gets the call first in hopes that he gets bit of popularity before the other´s arrive. Basically, my plan for Drury is him to become number 5 heel after the top four, hopefully being good enough to work as a replament if needed and just generally playing back-up and being in occasional storyline (most likely on the losing side), basically same thing that I plan to do with Garry on the face side. Time will tell if Drury can hold that position, but I recall he´s done well in other people´s diaries were I have seen him being used so I´d figure he´s up to the task. Drury somehow haven´t had a single match since the game started so he´s likely having quite a bit of ring rust at the beginning. Also, this pick up was pretty much made possible by Hyde Hill telling me that I can get away from travel costs as otherwise Drury would had been considered "too expensive" on the time being. He also became the first person to relocate in Puerto Rico (makes sense considering he only gets 400$ per show) so guess it was me paying those travel costs that kept people on relocating into Puerto Rico which is certainly good to know in the future. Drury got a two years deal which is pretty much going to be the standard lenght of contract going forward. Drury is also showing up on the show stopper and ring general lists being the third guy behind Joe and Cobra to do so.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

Rex Reeves</p><p>

Age: 38</p><p>

Record (in ESE): 0 - 0 - 2 (2 - 0 - 21)</p><p>

Average match Rating (in ESE): E+</p><p>

Rex wasn´t never going to stay more than 2 - 3 years and did pretty much as expected during his stay. With him being on time decline and not being particularly good to begin with, it´s likely last time we see him during this diary (although he´s dating Reese and also friend with Jolson so if those two are in the roster and I need bonuses on backstage Reeves could get a call). </p><p>

Drury decided to start his ESE career by failing to show up in scheduled meeting. I gave him stern warning which he appearantly didn´t like as he´s behavior got worse. Not a good way to start but guess I can always drop him if he starts causing trouble. Funnily enough, that´s exactly the same way that Mad Dog Mortimer started his career and he´s still with me (although on a low role but that was always the plan) so this doesn´t necasserily going to lead into anything. Booking wise, I wanted to keep Joe out from the ring this month as he just recovered and thus booked the show without him, also Mad Dog was unused second month on the row (sorry Morty, that wasn´t intentional, just the way the match-ups worked).</p><p> </p><p> The main event was the typical "mix two feuds into one tag match" that is always a good way to keep feuds going, faces got the win mainly since I wanted Silencer to get win over Smooth for storyline reasons. Whitetaker did beat Deuce just to give him something to do, but the main point was the angle that kept the feud with Joe going. The game reminded me about bad chemistry between Whitaker and Deuce but I decided to keep the booking as it was since that match wasn´t there for ratings at any case. Other than the feuds, Freedom Eagle got his first win over newcomer Drury (unfortunately, it starts to look like Eagle might not be good enough replace Seth as one of the top four faces but I´m giving him a bit more time before deciding about that and I do have Garry ready to jump in if needed) while Garry (speaking the devil) and Cobra were put into semi-main event mostly because I wanted solid match there and they had a great match earlier but this time the match fell a bit under expectations but they made up for that with awasome angle plus the difference between the two matches weren´t that big (D vs. D- but the D was the lowest rated D match on top 100 being at 11th while their match this show is rated as 20th). Plus I kind of enjoyed writing those two as bit of a comedy spot (even when there´s no comedy in the product), I might even had made it a feud if I had figured it out before this show, but now that they have already fought twice in recent past, it´s not going to happen, at least not yet. That said, I do hope I can figure a feud for Garry on the next round of feuds (basically only feud I have planned after this round is the feud with the main belt), for Cobra... well, I´m not too worried about him as keeping him low would kind of fit of the idea I have on him (being "snake" and just biting his time until the time is right) but I do hope I can found a spot to push him at some point as he´s probably my favorite character so far in this diary. I did compliment Garry and Cobra for that angle (I double checked and it actually is the first ever C- rated segment during ESE´s history) and Smooth for being his usual great himself. Also, we finally did grow up to small size and that means new signings which we will talk more on the next post. Don´t expect any big names though, I would like to make profit soon and for that end, I only hire cheap talent for now (plus I´m decently happy about the main event/upper midcard at the moment). I also did remember to tweak Garry´s gimmick after the show to extend it´s life span.</p><p> </p><p> Here´s how the popularities look after this show:</p><p> main event: Smooth: 24, Queen: 20, , Silencer: 21 </p><p> upper midcard: Jolson: 18, Seth: 19, , Whittaker: 20</p><p> midcard: Cobra: 18, Garry: 17, Revell: 17, Joe: 17 </p><p> lower midcard: Deuce: 9 Eagle: 14, Mortimer: 17</p><p> Opener: Drury: 3</p><p> </p><p> Smooth got three points??? What? And he lost... oh, never mind, he finally had a match in FCW (losing to Handsome Stranger on 46 rated match, with the tag match this month being 43 so we actually not that far behind), darn, I was excited for a second. Silencer did gain a point though so at least there was some progress. Well, kind of since Revell did lose a point so guess it´s more of even ground than gains. Deuce, Eagle and Drury all gained two points which I would considering good except it seems to be the minumum you gain until you hit 17 (I at least don´t recall anyone ever gaining less until they hit 17). Speaking of AI finally finding my talent, GSW did actually book Justice Jolson as well as he lost to Waylon Wells in E+ rated match. On finances side, growing into small helped us a bit as we only took 1 730$ loss this month, with merchandise sales being the one spot were most of the extra income did come. I´d assume expenses would also rise next month (and that what the expected expences shows as well) so lets see if this was temporarely raise or not.</p></div><p></p><p></p>
