If i actually liked Misawa i'd just take him but...

also man Nakamura is really over in this mod like more than the pillars ha

Yeah - all the mods are judgement calls and you can debate choices. Nakamura started hot then actually flamed out a little later.

Mark Copani isn't in this mod but was still a chance of continuing at this point and would potentially be a star at this point.

There is only one US wrestler considered a Draw - The Rock! Which seems to me like the pop is under for the top guys in North America.

It's all judgement calls though.

Talking of judgement calls how exactly is AJ Styles still on the board round 3? He's number 7 on the Power 500 and his skills are so good I was shocked when he and Batista were still there for me - I got pop and in ring talent with those two picks in a way I hadn't expected.

AJ was next on my board when you picked him but Punk is a nice consolation prize.

Jericho + HBK + Punk should be enough to require the stadium announcer to direct smarks to the nearest merch booth for a new pair of pants.

Y'know, with all these amazing Juniors in 2006, I'm looking for a good blend of many styles and stuff, and trying to put them into stables that fit that. The only one that I have 100% guarantee of is a strong striking one lead by KENTA.

Sadly I just realized that all of the highest ranking Juniors besides the old school masked guys fit this stable the most, meaning my main event scene could be really weird with stable mates fighting each other from the get go, with the exception of Tanahashi and MARUFUJI.

May be lookin to trade with ya soon Larrikn.

It's interesting to see how things are shaping up even this early. The 3 Japanese feds are in a dogfight, AAA in Mexico is off doing it's own thing, the WWA and ROF appear to be using a very similar philosophy in terms of who they are taking. WCW is very much traditional US style. UWF took Benoit so they are of course doomed. DPW & DWA aren't DOA yet … we hope.

I've realized that making a gimmick fed like mine with all Juniors stars is really not a great move. Chono, Misawa, Kawada, Sasaki, and so many others are all still unsigned, but they wouldn't fit the show I'm going for, and the other two Japanese promotions both want Juniors as well. Hell, even AAA's biting me since it seems that they're going after some Japanese Juniors with CIMA getting signed. Ah well, if push comes to shove I'm signing the Generalissimo and everyone's gonna be a Super Sentai ripoff.

10 rounds in - A Draft Review

WCG - The Japanese federation passed on major draws to select the talented Jun Akiyama in the first round but made up pop wise with Nagata, Suzuki & Mutoh three major names in the first 5 rounds. Looks to have a talented roster that will be caught in a bitter 3 way dance for dominance in Japan.

WWA - The Rock appears to be trying to balance in ring skill and showmanship so far. Has gone younger than expected with the oldest wrestler being Dave Bautista who is in his mid 30's. It's a young talented roster with a lot of potential. Signing Jim Ross gives them a strong Booker and Announcer which may well make a huge difference in the competitive US market.

BHOTWG - A strong roster which also added it's first Joshi talent in Toyota in Round 9. 25 year old Shinsuke Nakamura is the future but Kenta Kobashi is very much the present.

AAA - Mexico's premier (and only) federation has signed an interesting mix of talent so far including US Luchadore Rey Mysterio, well known US Luchadora Lita and Japanese young gun CIMA. The future looks bright for AAA.

ROF - An intriguing and potentially combustible roster so far. Will Jericho, Punk, JBL, Goldberg, Flair and Michaels be able to co-exist together or will ROF begin to unravel into warring factions with so many strong willed and disparate personalities all competing for air time. If they can keep it together then the talent is there especially with the additions of Regal, McGuinness, Castagnoli and Devitt.

DPW - Rumour has it that the finances have collapsed and that this federation may never even run a show. Where this leaves the talented but troubled Randy Orton & Kurt Angle if it happens is anyone's guess.

UWF - Nobodies quite sure how UWF will unfold - in ring there is no shortage of talent but behind the scenes there are rumours of some serious issues with at least one of their major stars health and it's hoped that by surrounding him with cleanskins he may straighten up and fly right.

WCW - The WCW has very much gone the route of signing veteran talent and appears likely to give us the Undertaker vs Sting feud the world has waited years for. Young gun John Cena appears to be someone who they will try to develop into a major star.

DWA - Shocked the world when they signed two relative unknowns very early. Potentially great talent they may be but they may take a decade to get there and by then they may be under somebody else's banner. Vets Glen Jacobs & Paul Wight will likely struggle to lift the DWA into a competitive position in the tough US market and the federation may find itself victim to constant talent raids. M&M and Nemeth have big upsides and if the DWA can keep them Moxley & Black long term then the DWA could develop into a successful promotion but that's a big if.

NOVA- Tremendously talented roster that promises an exciting in ring product. Is likely to be caught up in a bitter 3 way fight for dominance in Japan.

So 1/3rd of the way through hows everybody feeling about their roster?

Personally I've never drafted a US fed so I wasn't exactly sure how to go. I was initially toying with an acting heavy fed but just decided to go with an idealised 2006 fed. I've got a young strong roster that should serve me well and whilst I've ceded willr0ck some older guys this particular mod doesn't have many people with high popularity in the US so going younger with big upsides seemed the way to go. I've got a bunch of names I'm considering bringing in during the remainder of the draft.

Of course there are always things you regret or people you wished you had of taken. Southside has taken a bunch of people I was strongly considering Jericho, McGuiness, Claudio, Devitt & Milano were all on my list but he took them a round or two higher than their stats dictated in this mod. As for Morrison - well the talent raid on the DWA will get him to me eventually.

What perplexed me a little was Danielson, Moxley, Black & Nemeth going when they did - all have potential but in this mod they aren't really guys who should of gone in the first 5 rounds. I expected them to be like Omega & Okada and go around the 10th round when people start grabbing on potential. That said all 8 of the feds have some really nice talent in them and it will be really interesting how they all shake out over the remaining rounds.

I'm personally feeling pretty good about mine, definitely doing better than I thought with this being my first draft. I made some pretty early mistakes of not snagging people like Liger ASAP, but of course I'm gonna lose some guys.

I will say when AAA started going for Japanese Juniors I got thrown back pretty bad, especially since that canned my idea for CIMA-Gun pretty quick. Of the same vein, having Low-Ki and Mochizuki taken right when I was gonna draft them sucked, and I've not 100% found a replacement for them in HARD-HIT, but hopefully I should be fine after my next turn. The only other issue I have is that I have a guy who's a guaranteed main eventer...and have no clue where he's gonna fit with the rest of the roster, in terms of matches and factions.

Pretty much every other show is packed with talent, whether it's like WCG sticking to just your home nation's wrestlers or WWA with pretty much full representation.

Edit: Was just thinking about this, I have a Juniors promotion and I'm battling two companies who most likely will be after each other the most, and they have both weight classes. I hope it doesn't happen, but I feel like NOVA's gonna be the raid central for these guys to get more Juniors.

Liking where we are at. My 4 fave wrestlers ever in Jericho, Punk, Kawada, and Piper. Lots of high psych guys to train others and should win national battles easily in UK with Jericho, HBK, Flair, Goldberg. Punk/Nigel should shoot through roof skill wise wrestling the rest of the crew and pretty much everyone is good/great on the stick too.

Reallly like what AAA is doing in Mexico as well

I'll leave that to Uncrewed. I know at one point Tardelli was on the reserves list, so he might get first go.

This far into the draft, I feel AAA is starting to take shape, even if I have missed out on a *lot* of people who were top of my short list only for someone else to grab them right before it came to me. Tanahashi, Ultimo Guerrero, Ultimo Dragon, Triple H. She wasn't exactly next on the list, but I whined a little when Uncrewed picked Manami Toyota. But I have a nice annoying Japanese heel faction in CIMA, TAKA, Ishimori, lead by Akira Hokuto. A classic Mexican heel group around Konnan and Perro Aguyayo Jr. And a bunch of middle aged wrestling icons to carry the main event. I don't particularly like it, but that's how lucha seems to work.

The concept for my AAA is fairly simple. It's filthy, sleazy car crash lucha, the theatrics almost but not quite hiding the fact that the in-ring quality is actually quite good.
