Elite FC - An Elite era for MMA

March 2019

A new company was announced today that has shocked the world of MMA. Elite Fighting Championship has been publicly announced with the owner being part of the famous Khan family. Yes the same family that owns the Jacksonville Jaguars and the new professional wrestling company All Elite Wrestling. As another business opportunity, Tony Khan has opened the doors to Elite FC.

Elite FC is currently the #28th ranked MMA company in the world and is an unknown company based out of Florida with rumors of a TV/broadcast deal in the works. Elite currently has 4 weight classes from Welterweight to Heavyweight and will feature only Male fighters initially, with female classes being developed before years end.

The rules are standard, with normal boughts being three 5 minute rounds for all non main event bouts and five 5 minute rounds for all title and main event match ups. However, there are a few rules that do set Elite apart from other MMA organizations and are open to controversy. Elite is fought in a 4 sided Ring on a 10 point must system.

Elite is going to allow strikes to downed opponents, knee strikes to the head of grounded opponents, elbow strikes to the head of both standing and downed opponents, stomps to downed opponents, foot stomps and yes, we are allowing soccer kicks to both the head and body!

Being as the Khan family are the primary owners of Elite Fighting Championship, they do have a rather large sized Headquarters building with full time staff and a large Public Relations firm all based right inside Jacksonville, Florida. They are also starting to provide large and excellent sponsorships to wrestling and jiu-jitsu competitions as well as popular educational classes all while building the Elite brand!

Could this all be a mistake or do the Khan Family know what they are doing? Who are they going to hire to be the CEO? Rumor has it they have been in talks with several current and former top ranked and champion UFC fighters! How will this new company sit with Dana White and the UFC?

UFC Removes Division

In Breaking News, UFC have confirmed that they are to close thier Womens Featherweight Division. As Sam Stavrakakis writes, the decision was taken after the company was unable to bring in any new fighters despite months of negotiations, leaving them with a division that was clearly not working.

- In light of recent news from the UFC - Elite FC has decided to split its Women's division into the Lightweight and Featherweight categories, but that split will not happen until after the Women's Lightweight Revolution Event! Currently Elite FC's Women division is 1 weight class for all weights. But as the UFC has now closed their featherweight we are splitting our lightweight to cover our larger classes and our featherweight to cover our lower.
