Congrats on hitting National. Such a shame on that Piper/Windham main event. No idea on why it was that poor. Was sure Piper had way more pop than that starting out. You didn't accidentally turn Windham already, did you? Since that seems to be where you're headed.

Butch Reed vs. Ron Simmons

Doom were enjoying their first run as NWA World Tag Team Champions at the beginning of the year, and then it all came crashing down. With multiple losses to the Steiner Brothers in a row, tensions between Doom brothers boiled over when a frustrated Ron Simmons walked away from Doom at Spring Stampede. To put the nail in the coffin, Reed attacked Simmons on a World Championship Wrestling taping, setting up this no-holds-barred match between the two.

With tempers flaring at the sound of the bell, it's Butch Reed who is able to get the upper hand on the less-experienced Ron Simmons. While he is able to do some damage early on, the stanima of Simmons plays a huge part in this match, as Simmons is able to turn things around and control the rest of the match, picking up a pinfall victory at 9:22 over Butch Reed with a Powerslam.

Percy Pringle comes out and says his newest client is not happy that he is not in SuperBrawl.. Bobby Eaton vs. Lex Luger w/Percy Pringle

Lex Luger is coming off a Spring Stampede loss to Rick Martel for the United States Championship, and hasn't been on since. No one expected Percy Pringle to show up in WCW, let alone represent someone like a self-infatuated Lex Luger. Bobby Eaton has taken exception to Luger's comments. Eaton is one of the most hardest, talented workers in WCW and put on an amazing match at Spring Stampede with Arn Anderson.

Luger showboats in the match from the start, not taking Eaton seriously, using his superior power to shove Eaton around. Eaton is able to counter, being the faster of the two, and is able to mix his speed with far-better technical skills to get the advantage on Luger, who is not happy that he is being upstaged.

After a couple near pinfalls by Eaton in the form of a school boy roll up, crucifix and backslide, Luger's frustrations get the best of him and he shoves Eaton, who responds with one of his own. Luger slaps Eaton in the face which stuns Eaton for a moment. Then, Eaton takes Luger down with a double-leg take down and begins unloading on him. Luger turns things over and him and Eaton begin going back and forth trading mounted punches. At 12:47, referee Scott Armstrong calls for the bell as a double disqualification and requires help from an additional official to separate the two.

The crowd starts this match solidly behind The Steiner Brothers as Rick Steiner kicks things off with Stevie Ray, with some decent back and forth. Midway through the match, the tables are turned and Harlem Heat is able to begin showing the reasons why they are in a championship match. With supurb tag team wrestling and amazing athleticism by Booker T, the crowd is beginning to get behind what Harlem Heat is bringing to thje table. Experience is on the side of the Steiner Brothers though, as Rick Steiner pins Booker T following a Diving Billdog at 12:46.

Owen Hart vs. Dean Malenko

In a series of matches that came out of no where in WCW between two new comers, Dean Malenko is up 3-2 against Owen Hart. The series has been great and featured some excellent in-ring performances and heat.

Malenko and Hart look to start things off like they always do, with a slow, technical pace. However, Hart goes off his usual path, and turns things up a botch with some high-flying offence that catches Malenko off guard. While Malenko is able to ground Hart midway through the match, it was not enough as Hart was able to land a Missile Dropkick on Malenko to pickup the pinfall victory at 12:35, evening the series at 3 matches each.

Eddie Guerrero vs. Barry Windham

Ric Flair is pushing the envelope of Barry Windham. Windham is an excellent talent, and Flair is just driving him to the ground in recent weeks. With moral low and frustration high, Flair sets up an ideal match for Windham to grab a win and get his moral in the right direction, against newcomer Eddie Guerrero.

A difference of styles between Guerrero and Windham makes for a unique match. Windham is able to use his size and experience to take the advantage, however, everytime he has Guerrero down, Flair is yelling at Windham for more, causing Windham to get distracted. Guerrero is able to take advantage of this, as Windham gets distracted going for a Superplex, causing Guerrero to knock Windham down. Guerrero is able to hit a Frog Splash at 14:30 to pick up a major pinfall victory!

Roddy Piper vs. Rick Rude

It was March when Rick Rude made his WCW debut, causing chaos in War Games and causing team Sting to lose, setting up a clash between the two at Spring Stampede, only for Rude to lose via a Roddy Piper pinfall count. Was it a fast count? Most are saying not, but it don't matter to Rude. Piper wasn't the official.

The match builds slowly as both men spend the first few minutes feeling each other out before Rude gets Piper outside of the ring. Both men punish each other outside of the ring before heading back into the ring. Most of the match goes without a pinfall attempt, though Piper has gone for The Sleeper on a couple of occasions.

With both men exchanging blows in the ring, Piper ducks a swing from Rude and locks in The Sleeper. Rude reaches out and grabs the official, allowing him to hit a low-blow on Piper! After regaining is bearings, Rude hits a Rude Awakening on Piper for the pin at 16:11.

Larry Zbyszko vs. Sting

Sting issued an open challenge for competition, which was answered by Larry Zbyszko. Zbyszko took Sting to the limit in a losting effort a few weeks back and cemented his case for a World Championship match.

In a slow build, Sting and Zbyszko exchange mat wrestling where Zbyszko just can't get the upper hand. Much of the match is evenly contested as Zbyszko came into this match and is looking far better than expected, showing why he is a previous World Champion elsewhwere.

In the end, it is Sting who is able to get the victory via submission at 26:38 with a Scorpion Deathlock.

Excellent SuperBrawl! Pringle is an odd pairing with Luger even though he did actually have a managerial career before becoming Paul Bearer. I'll be interested to see where that goes. Hopefully, you aren't dropping Windham's pop too low with all the losses to lesser wrestlers (at this point in time). One TEW note you might not be aware of: Matches shorter than 16 minutes are capped at 80/B before any bonuses or minuses are applied. That's why the tag match on tv scored an 84. Just something to plan around.

I was hesitant to go with a longer match for Harlem Heat, as I haven't had them in a long match yet, so I was trying to find a balance between something decent and not overdoing it. I'm very pleased with the turnout and will be extending the program due to it. Sadly, Piper is gone soon, so putting Rude over will be his last go in WCW for now. Darn freelancers.

Go into the editor-->Workers (you can filter to just WCW or scroll to the R's)-->Select Roddy Piper-->Scroll down the first display column to where it says Freelance-->Set it to None and Save. Then sign him to a written deal and beat out WWF for his services. Freelance never worked in TEW. No reason to saddle yourself without one of the best wrestlers in the world. Do that with anyone else you want to sign (didn't you have to do that with Eddie?).

Yeah freelance was iirc designed to simulate the Japanese scene more then anything, and it has been misused in mods to try and simulate young guys traveling to get experience or old guys never staying tied down to long. Which is what it wasn't designed to do. It's why in any Genadi or mod using Genadi data, I also go through and edit out all the freelance settings. As it isn't what it was designed to do and just hinders game play as it's a crap shoot if a worker comes off of it so it doesn't properly reflect a young worker coming into their own and settling into a company. or an old worker retiring and settling in as a backstage worker.

Well...despite not posting all weekend, I did end up playing (I'm on Wk 1 Aug 1991), so 2 months ahead of what I've posted. I save my event postings on my PC, and when cleaning up the folder, it looks like I deleted Weeks 1-3 for June. So, I'll post pictures of the events for the next 2 weeks worth of shows, and follow that up with a storyline overview.

I'd just hate to see you lose out on Piper for 3 or 6 months just because you let him leave and can't re-sign him for that long.

With Piper heading out, he lost to Rude at Spring Stampede and I didn't protect him, so he's not happy with me. Once he signs with someone else, or I'm able to negotiate with him, I'll update to not be a freelancer. I exported the game's MDB file, and him and Cornette are the only 2 workers in the current game world with a freelance loyalty. I export the game data monthly, so I'll keep an eye out for others and adjust accordingly.
