February 18th 2006 - The Rebirth of Extreme…</div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

8 months on from ECW One Night Stand, the event that sparked hunger for the revival of a Revolution that had previously burnt out in 2001, Paul Heyman stood in the middle of the ring in the ECW Arena, as ECW CyberSlam debuted on ECW.com. A decade and a day from the first CyberSlam event in ECW history, the now weekly show kicked off with Paul Heyman being interrupted by three faces that would become very familiar to fans of the new ECW. Low-Ki, Homicide and Xavier, billed as unsigned independent stars, cut “The Chief of ECW” off, promising to bring a revolution of their own to ECW. As we would find out later, there was much more to that interaction that met the eye.</div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</div></div></div></div><div style="text-align:center;"><img alt="kg9Fk6m.png" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/kg9Fk6m.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="g4hqejC.png" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/g4hqejC.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="CTf4VGm.png" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/CTf4VGm.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="30SO0Om.png" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/30SO0Om.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></div><p></p><p></p><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

The group of “Revolutionaries” would make their mark once again, during the Main Event of the first CyberSlam, attacking all four members of the Rob Van Dam & Sabu vs. Tommy Dreamer & Sandman match. Episode #1 ended with the men who would later be known as “The Hustle”, standing tall. This became a theme of the early CyberSlam broadcasts…</div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

While this personal rivalry continued, displaying the differing philosophies of the New Breed talent and the ECW Originals, there was an ongoing search for the first ECW World Champion of 2006, with every single member of the roster eligible. The concept was simple, the last man to remain undefeated in ECW would become the new title holder. This came down to a final six of Brent Albright, CM Punk, Low-Ki, Rob Van Dam, Sabu and Steve Corino. Three Originals and three of the New Breed.</div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Six became three, and the first ECW World Championship match was contested between CM Punk, Rob Van Dam and Steve Corino. Rob Van Dam would become the inaugural Champion of the new ECW, pinning CM Punk in one of the early great matches of the CyberSlam run.</div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</div></div></div></div><div style="text-align:center;"><img alt="d5cJ7hz.png?1" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/d5cJ7hz.png?1" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</div></div></div></div><img alt="vtnGXFz.png" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/vtnGXFz.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="8IeKGsp.png" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/8IeKGsp.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="VQQEXC8.png" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/VQQEXC8.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></div><p></p><p></p><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

From here, things changed, as the two aforementioned stories became intertwined once more. During Rob Van Dam’s “Championship Presentation”, the ECW World Champion was attacked by Homicide, Low-Ki, Xavier and the fourth member of the group, Sonny Siaki. Not only did Paul Heyman do nothing as his Champion was assaulted in the ring across from him, “The Chief of ECW” struggled to contain a smirk, with it later being revealed that he’d ordered the attack on the Champion, a part of his “new vision” of ECW. After the failed attempt to recruit CM Punk to their side, the group dubbed “Heyman’s Hustle” (more commonly just The Hustle), targeted the ECW World title, with Rob Van Dam making a successful title defence against Low-Ki in June.</div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Meanwhile, The Hustle looked to add a different title to their ranks, with a tournament for the ECW Television Championship, which was dominated by the group, coming down to a Ladder match between CM Punk and Homicide. Coming up short once again, Homicide was defeated by CM Punk, who became the first Champion. With their number of enemies growing, The Hustle looked to bolster their ranks, as Brent Albright, Johnny Kashmere and Trent Acid joined the Originals in opposition of the Heyman backed group. The recently signed Havana Pitbulls were the next trick up Homicide and Heyman’s sleeve, as they debuted, became the ECW World Tag Team Champions, and joined The Hustle on the same night! The Hustle finally had their hands on Championship gold, but were hungry for more as their power and influence grew…</div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</div></div></div></div><div style="text-align:center;"><img alt="D5g8xlm.png" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/D5g8xlm.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></div><p></p><p></p><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

It was around this time that everything changed in ECW, from the logo, the set and the introductory music, the aesthetic differences conveyed the new vision that Paul Heyman wanted to implement. He claimed his issues with the Originals were anything but personal, and were only done in the best interest of ECW. One Night Stand, he called a reunion. The first few months of CyberSlam, the resurrection. It was now time for the “new ECW” to once again spark a revolution in the Pro Wrestling business. Heat Wave 2006, the first “supercard event” since ECW returned was approaching, and served as the perfect platform to showcase what Extreme Championship Wrestling was all about in 2006!</div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

The match card only told part of the story however, as the returns of Rhino and Raven saw more familiar faces join the ECW roster, each with unfinished business of their own. Raven would spend the rest of the year in a bizarre relationship with Tommy Dreamer, while Rhino made his mark as one of the top names in the company.</div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Undefeated from his very first appearance in the new ECW, Rhino set out to win the titles he held at the closure of the original ECW in 2001, Championships now held by Rob Van Dam and CM Punk. Rhino and Punk became a key rivalry as 2006 came to a close, with Rhino beating the ECW Television Champion to win the title at November To Remember. Due to unforeseen circumstances however, which led to CM Punk being picked as the replacement for the injured Rob Van Dam, the former TV Champion became the ECW World Champion later in the same night. The first “pay-per-view” since ECW’s return, the following card showed the changing shape of ECW.</div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Out of the pay-per-view, Rhino wanted more, his frustrations compounded by the events of the November To Remember 2006. He wasn’t the only man with his eyes on the ECW World Champion however, as CM Punk also saw himself targeted by the undefeated Kevin Fertig.</div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</div></div></div></div><div style="text-align:center;"><img alt="WEqt11g.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/WEqt11g.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="73Hw63A.png" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/73Hw63A.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></div><p></p><p></p><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

At the time, Kevin Fertig held the strongest undefeated streak in ECW, having picked up 9 straight victories since his debut on CyberSlam. This gave him a strong claim for the Number One Contendership, and the final ECW match of 2006 saw the streak come to an end, as Alisson Danger debuted to assist CM Punk in retaining the World Championship. </div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

With Fertig no longer unbeaten, the longest streak in ECW now belonged to Rhino, and the ECW Television Champion handed Kevin Fertig his second defeat, in the first match 2007. The stage was set, for the next pay-per-view Guilty As Charged 2007, as Paul Heyman announced CM Punk vs. Rhino in the Main Event of that show, the winner becoming the Dual Champion of ECW. This would be the final event before ECW debuted on FX, the new show resulting in CyberSlam going into a hiatus.</div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

During the period between the two pay-per-views, the once solid unit of The Hustle completely fell apart. Beginning with the rebellion of the previously unassuming Xavier, who had reached his breaking point following threats of expulsion, Low-Ki was next member to question his position in The Hustle. Caught between Xavier and the rest of the group, Low-Ki eventually stood against his best friend Homicide, leaving The Hustle and further depleting the ranks. Low-Ki & Xavier would struggle to find allies within the ECW locker room, but stood strong together leading into Guilty As Charged.</div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

There was still time for plenty of big moments in the final few episodes before that event however, with Lance Storm’s ECW return introducing The Extreme Horsemen to The New Hart Foundation, made up of Harry Smith, Teddy Hart and TJ Wilson. The final CyberSlam before Guilty As Charged was Main Evented by Raven vs. The Sandman, 24 hours before “The Last Chapter” of the Raven/Tommy Dreamer story at the pay-per-view.</div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</div></div></div></div><div style="text-align:center;"><img alt="cfBh9T4.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/cfBh9T4.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="P78b8AJ.png" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/P78b8AJ.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="iYNUxQ4.png" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/iYNUxQ4.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></div><p></p><p></p><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

This match marked the “end of an era” in more ways than one, and Guilty As Charged saw year one of the revival complete with “the most significant match in ECW history”...</div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">
