TEW Cartoonverse

Yes it's what it sounds like. I'm working on a mod that has Cartoons in it. If you are into something non traditional and bizarre (and, tbh, will have to push your suspension of disbelief even more so), then this is for you.

Logically, this won't be fully operational and ready for release before 2020 comes out, due to the amount of work that will be done (plus I don't want to put out a perfect finalized version if a new game is around the corner). However, my goal is to have a strong working version for 2016, and then convert it to a final version for 2020.

The Game World

Think of it as Wacky Races meets wrestling. All your favorite cartoon characters battling it out against each other. With the roster/cartoon selection a lot goes into it (I will get into that later), but it will be largely subjective. A lot of the cartoons will be cartoons I grew up on (so mid 90's to early 2000's, with some exceptions obviously). They will mostly be tv shows, with a few movies added in.

Phase 1 (Currently halfway through this phase)

Planning Phase. Writing out all the companies, rosters, free agents, etc.

Phase 2

Putting workers and companies into the game, and getting it to function somewhat properly. This will probably be the hardest part, figuring out how certain characters transfer over to this game. Obviously characters like Samurai Jack will translate over much easier than Bugs Bunny.

Phase 3

Adding other necessary game information like venues, angles, gimmicks, etc. I don't want to just import pre-existing angles. I want to alter them to something that would make sense in this world. Instead of an angle where somebody gets attacked by a ladder, maybe they get an anvil dropped on their head? Same goes for injuries, normal real world injures may not make sense in this world. As well as making sure certain characters work well with each other, for example it would be annoying if Ren & Stimpy had zero chemistry as a tag team

Phase 4

Fleshing out the universe. Adding in broadcasters, tv deals, titles, tag teams, and other non crucial things. Also giving the companies more history and context. Who is the on screen authority figure of this company? Fun things like that.

Phase 5

Public Testing. Release it out to a wider audience. This is where I will add in new companies/wrestlers that I miss during phase 1.

Phase 6

TEW 2020 Conversion

Full Release

Self Explanatory

Post Release

Updates adding in new characters, companies, etc.

In a comment I will post what companies/cartoons I have so far selected

Thank you for getting this far in the read. Feel free to ask me any questions. Obviously with all early mods, I am in need of help, with just about all aspects, so please let me know if you are interested. If enough people are interested in this idea, even if it's just following with the progress, I am more than happy to post occasional journal updates, and even do a discord for it as well.

FAQ

Saving this space, will update as I get them.

Let's start with who's NOT going in.

Anything Star Wars. It's too vast of a universe, and would be better suited for it's own mod or something similar (not ruling out adding one or two characters from the Clone Wars as unemployed in later phases)

Rugrats. I know this is about suspending suspending your disbelief but this is a bit too much.

Anything that's dominantly known as a non cartoon property. Like Beetlejuice, The Addams Family, or any of the hundreds of movies that got cartoon remakes in the 90's.

Anything with Mech Suits & giant robots (sorry Gundam, Zoids, Voltron and OG Transformer fans)

Anything based around Wrestling, like Tiger Mask

Now onto the good stuff

I'm copying from my notes, so I may be missing some or not thinking of something important. Please suggest any glaring omissions. Obviously before the end of Phase 1 I will do a larger check of everything

For Disney, I'm not sure if I will have it be one large company with two brands, or two separate companies that are in an alliance. I think you'll see why I'm having this thought when looking at how the shows are divided.

Below is a list of entities I'm not sure about adding, either I can't fit them within the logical company, or I'm just not sure if I want them in or not for various reasons. Not saying they won't be in, but will most likely not be in for the testing phases

Maybe

Beauty and The Beast

Hayo Miyazaki Films

Emporeros New School/Groove

These are cartoons that I know should be in there, but I don't know enough about them to do them justice. I would need help with it, because researching cartoons I know nothing about will just slow down this whole process.

One Piece

Naruto

Sailor Moon

Full Metal Alchamist

One Punch Man

Just about every popular anime that isn't Dragon Ball

Holla at me if you need with anything. Animation is something I follow regularly and have extensive knowledge of. I could plan up a list of all cartoons for you that are active or semi-active, retired or otherwise out of commission.

Disney should be one huge company with multiple brands. Toon Disney/Disney XD should be one. Disney Channel should be another with Disney Film being its own as well.

Cartoon Network should be divided by Adult Swim and Cartoon Cartoons (or CN Original Programming). Adult Swim is technically considered its own channel even if it airs on the same airwave as Cartoon Network, plus its programming is vastly different. You could throw Toonami in with Adult Swim and work in a background story where it left Cartoon Network for one reason or another or whatever.

WB and Nick should be all one thing. You can work in Kids WB stuff with the mainline animated films because they either run together or there aren't enough films right now to warrant it.

Fox should also be part of Disney as a new brand. Maybe they recently got bought by Disney because they were low on funds or something, just to imitate real life. Blue Sky should be included with Fox.

Dreamworks and Illumination should run together under Universal.

Anime should be split a few ways under the Japanese market. That's something that can be handled once the anime stuff itself is figured out.

Otherwise, other companies should spring throughout the world. India and China can serve as independent countries who will form companies as they fit as the game progresses because nobody really knows much of their animation industry (unless somebody here can help). Same for Australia.

Teletoon should run Canada though. Johnny Test, Total Drama, 6Teen, Stoked, stuff like that should be on there.

And finally, there's Hasbro. Obviously there's GI Joe and Dan vs. that would fit the bill (among others, lol Hanzuki would be hilarious), but the glaring pony in the room should be addressed.

Like I said, something reminscent of old CAWs without the YouTube videos, while still maintaining the cartoons themselves and staying true to their characters is something I am very interested in helping you with. Let me know if you need help with any of the finer details.

Locations! Just though of that too.

This sounds interesting! Would there be a lot of loyalty involved, or would we end up in a weird universe where Mickey Mouse is part of Nickelodeon and Ed, Ed & Eddy are considered anime? <img alt=":p" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/tongue.png.ceb643b2956793497cef30b0e944be28.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" />

Yes and no. Characters like Mickey Mouse, Bugs Bunny, Spongebob, Homer Simpson, etc will have loyalty to their respective companies. Characters that are long term staples to a channel and a brand as a whole.

Characters like Johnny Bravo, Darkwing Duck, Invader Zim, Freakazoid, or others of that level won't. Yeah when you think about Cartoon Network you may think of Johnny Bravo but in hindsight their shows weren't on for that long of a run and aren't crucial staples in it's history.

That's pretty much how I thought you'd do it tbh :)
