RecklessVerse: Welcome To The Backyard (Release)

Recommended Posts

RecklessVerse

With DAVE on the brink of death, backyard wrestling is more popular than ever. Young high schoolers and aspiring wrestlers are creating promotions in their backyard to fill the gap, and Xtreme Danger Wrestling sits atop that mountain. XDW helped popularize backyard wrestling, with it's five stars being the most popular yardies in the neighborhood. Unfortunately, XDW might be closed by the end of the year, so it seems like another promotion will have to take their spot soon.

The time has come to finally release The RecklessVerse. Starting in January 2007, the mod currently features 7 companies and 101 workers, with 84 of them being active wrestlers who have already debuted. There is also a user character called The Yardie.

Pictures have been sourced from various locations. Most worker renders come from free pictures. smw88 has contributed a number of renders for belts and companies, with more incoming.

This mod will continue to be updated overtime, even after TEW 2020 is released. If TEW 2020 accommodates local sized companies fairly well, then the mod will be converted sometime after the release of the game.

Primary contributions have come from CreeperGav, who is responsible for the creation of a large number of workers appearing in the mod, while also working on his own mod at the same time.

For skills, a worker's in-ring skills can't go above C-, since they're backyard wrestlers. Performance skills shouldn't go above a D+. Respect and reputation should be for backyard accomplishments. For example, Xavier Reckless has 23% respect and 85% reputation.

For popularity, a workers don't have much popularity except in one region. Their popularity in the rest of the country depends on how popular they're getting from tape trading. As an example, Xavier Reckless is the most popular worker in the database, and has 15% in all USA regions (except Puerto Rico and Hawaii), and 23% in the southwest. Someone like Austin Hill has 4% in the rest of the country, and 8% in the southwest.

Version 1.01 has been released. It adds movesets to a handful of people who previously didn't have them and fixes some picture mistakes and a grammar mistake in a bio. A relationship was also added while another was edited.

Characters can be submitted and will be added in future updates. Sometime soon I intend to release another update adding a company and more workers.

<p>I highly recommend this mod, as even though it's quite a bit small, it's really fun to play and has a neat little spot in the "unofficial canon" of the C-Verse. </p><p> </p><p>

And no, I'm not saying this because I helped work on the mod, I'm saying this because It's a great idea with a fun little twist on an unexplored area of the CV and I hope others get interested & stay interested as Steven continues to update and add more stuff over the next few months or years. </p><p> </p><p>

Version 1.02 has been released. Aside from fixing some mistakes, the primary addition was a promotion called Honky Tonk Yard, based in Memphis, Tennessee, along with it's roster and belts.

Honky Tonk Yard

Memphis, Tennessee

Opened by local record label owner Arthur Goodridge for his grandson, Honky Tonk Yard is a unique backyard wrestling company. A mix of old school southern rasslin' and honky tonk, HTY offers an interesting experience to it's audience. Holding shows with a ring set up on a small stage in a field outside of Memphis, HTY fills a little niche in the backyard wrestling industry. With Honky Tonk Hero as the face of the company, HTY does good business and possibly could work as an actual wrestling company.

Roster

Acolyte (Mr. Mick)

Alan Calm

Arthur Goodridge (Owner) (Commentator)

Dan Adams (Referee)

Fire Phoenix

Honky Tonk Hero

Johnny Cool

Mercy Michaels

Occult (Hipster Harry)

Tennessee

The New Age Guru Of Mayhem

Tony Star (Booker) (Manager)

Teams include Cool & Calm, comprised of Alan Calm and Johnny Cool, and The Prophecy, consisting of Acolyte and Occult. The Prophecy is part of a stable with The New Age Guru Of Mayhem called Prophecy Of Doom.

HTY Country Championship: Honky Tonk Hero (Since November 2006) (3)

HTY Backwoods Championship: Occult (since August 2006)

HTY Tag Team Championship: The Prophecy (since October 2006)

The product is called Country Fried Rasslin', with Traditional being at key feature, realism being set at heavy, and mainstream being set at medium. HTY starts off with $10,000.

The premier event of the company HTY The Y'all Brawl, held on the third Friday of every September. All of HTY's events are held at a place known as the Grand Ole Yard, which isn't actually a yard. It's a large field outside of Memphis with a small stage set up there. A ring is in the middle of the stage, and 500 chairs are placed in rows in front of the stage.

This is so creative. Backyard is very hard to recreate in this game. How did you manage to try to "Shrink" the game world so that companies dont become too big, or wrestlers dont want huge contracts. How did you stop wrestlers from traveling state to state?

For one thing, it's very hard to grow companies depending on the situation. Also, you made me realize that in the next update I need to restrict company sizes, though maybe people would rather be able to grow larger.

Wrestler's usually won't want huge contracts if they're not extremely skilled. If this were something like the default canon CVerse, they'd be considered poorly skilled.

I had tried to keep wrestlers from moving places by changing the settings in the database. However, it only means they won't compete in countries that are outside of their home area.

Hopefully with TEW 2020 I can improve the mod a bit, along with it's future versions.

I've done extensive work on a real world backyard mod, so i might be able to help with some suggestions, or have some solutions to problems you have with this. There are things that can be done, but you have to get a bit creative. Just let me know.

That would be nice. Also, is there a link to your real world mod?

No I never ending up releasing publically, it was more for personal use. It is a real world backyard mod (2019) that featured 750 real backyard wrestlers and 12 of the most popular backyard companies from each region (in terms of YouTube popularity) etc. A few fictionals to fill out the database also.

Unfortunately I was without internet for 3 weeks and when I returned, I wasn't as active in some places as I had been. During that time, I spent more time booking than I did on the mod, but another update is coming out soon. It will add renders for Honky Tonk Yard and it's titles, along with renders for the broadcasters Shockjock Radio and US Tape Trading. They were all done by smw88. Hopefully, I'll add a little more to it as well.

Version 1.04 has been released. As stated it adds renders for the 2 broadcasters (Shockjock Radio & US Tape Trading), plus the promotion Honky Tonk Yard and the promotion's belts.

I intend for the next update to include more characters, and to possibly expand the mod sometime before TEW 2020 is released, though it might not be largely expanded until after that.

Version 1.05 is out. It includes the company Wrestling Simulation Universe, with it's home venue, premier event, titles, and roster.

Wrestling Simulation Universe

Detroit, Michigan

Once known only as a prominent e-federation, Wrestling Simulation Universe was formed in August 1996 as an e-fed. Originally fairly small and consisting of only 8 people, it would grow to a total of 598 members, spanning across 9 states and 2 countries. Run by Melon Man and Hotdog Hammond, they decided to turn it into a backyard company shortly before they graduated high school. Run with some of the members based out of Detroit, WSU looks to become known with it's unique style and characters, and possibly unseat XDW as the top backyard company.

Roster

Antonio Kelly

Cam Green

Frankie Perry

Hotdog Hammond (Booker)

Jackso Crazy

Jordan Skye

Jorge Ciceron

Juan Estrella

Kal Newman

Marcus Everton

Masked Fiend

Melon Man (Owner)

Percy Travis (Manager)

Tommy Mundo

Wendy Kole (Referee)

Teams include Crazy Town (Jackso Crazy & Masked Fiend), Detroit Devils (Juan Estrella & Jorge Ciceron), and Hot Melon Dogs (Hotdog Hammond & Melon Man)

WSU Rock City Championship: Jordan Skye (since September 2006)

WSU Simulation Championship: Hotdog Hammond (since August 2006) (2)

WSU Motor Tag Championships: Hotdog Hammond & Melon Man (since June 2006) (3)

It's style is called Computer Simulation. Modern is a key feature. Mainstream is set to heavy. Traditional & Daredevil are at medium. WSU starts off with $1,000.

The premier event is WSU Fiction In Fact, held on the last Friday of April. WSU's home venue is known as Hotdog Heaven. It's a small courtyard in Detroit, and is named for the hotdog stand there, which is worked before and after shows by Hotdog Hammond.

In the earlier update, I accidentally put in a file without the data. It's fixed now. As for future updates, I feel like I'm done with the American companies. 8 companies is a good enough amount for now. I think I'll focus on unemployed workers, then expand into Canada. Of course, first I'd have to watch some backyard wrestling videos from Canada to make it a bit accurate.

Version 1.06 is being worked on now. I am adding Canada into the mod, with 2 companies to start out. I'm also preparing the mod to be converted to TEW 2020. I don't think I'll continue updating the TEW 2016 version once TEW 2020 is released.

I've been watching some Canadian backyard wrestling to see what it's like. After a while, I decided to give the Canadian promotions in the mod their own twist. One is a cartoony version of CGC, with a womens division. The other is a more serious/realistic version of NOTBPW, with integrated womens wrestling.

I can't guarantee that it'll be done before TEW 2020's release, but I'm going to do my best.
