December 2019 Draft Hype/Signup Thread

Recommended Posts

Just for the heck of it, I took a look at some undrafted talent to see if I could put together a company that would be interesting to play, and honestly, I'm pretty sure I'd rather book this company than the one I drafted. Wouldn't be as competitive, but that's besides the point.

Gakepro Wrestling

Owner: Sanshiro Takagi

Booker: Miyako Mitsumoto

Road Agent: Command Bolshoi

Referee: Red Shoes Unno

Announcer: Makoto Abe

Color: Kazuo Yamazaki

Main Event:

Nanae Takahashi

Tsukasa Fujimoto

Takumi Iroha

Syuri

Momo Watanabe

Rina Yamashita

Upper Midcard:

Hanako Nakamori

Jungle Kyona

Arisa Hoshiki

Yoshiko

Yuka Sakazaki

Ryo Mizunami

Risa Sera

Yuu

Midcard:

Reika Saiki

Utami Hayashishita

Cassandra Miyagi

Konami

Tam Nakano

Jamie Hayter

Lower Midcard:

Natsumi Maki

Tsukushi

Yuna Manase

Makoto

Kaho Kobayashi

Shoko Nakajima

Azumi

Openers & Enhancement talent:

Mei Suruga

Maki Ito

Ayame Sasamura

Rika Tatsumi

Mizuki

Tae Honma

Honestly, I'd be pretty happy if I went to a joshi show in Tokyo and any combination of those "openers/enhancement talent" were main eventing.

- What were some picks made that puzzled you?

Ruby Riot went far higher in the draft than I expected.. And now, to team her up with the biggest wrestler in the US, possibly the world? Seems like an odd plan.

Since this is the second person that questioned my Ruby Riott pick I feel the need to defend it so here is my reasoning. There are 2 active workers with 80+ pop in the mod, then there are 4-5 in that 60-70 range. After that there is a handful of workers with 40+ pop, then dozens in the 20-25 pop range. At that point in the draft Riott was the only younger worker left who had 40 pop. Add in the fact that she is a decent worker and that is why I picked her when I did. She will help bolster my upper mid-card and put on good matches with my ME's. Also, just b/c Kai is in a tag team w/Riott doesn't mean that she won't have a singles push. That is pre-existing tag team and I primarily book Japanese feds so you'll be seeing lots of six mans and tag matches, this allows Kai to work a program with someone and not have to eat the pin.

Also Alpha, I have a road agent. Drafted Sara Del Ray in the ppa rounds.

Now on to the questions:

- What was your goal in drafting your roster?

I've never drafted a women's fed so I wanted to try it out. My goal was to put together the a performance based fed and I think I accomplished that.

- What pick(s) were you most excited about?

Becky Lynch obviously, Sasha, Kana and Kairi Hojo. Tessa Blanchard and Britt Baker as the future cornerstones of the company. Ric Flair as the mouthpiece of a female 4 Horsemen type group as well as Heyman as the advocate for Baszler. She has female Brock written all over her.

- Are there any picks you regret?

Not really, The Iiconics don't necessarily fit the product the best but I needed some tag teams. I regret I was one round too late for Hiroyo Matsumoto. I would have loved to team her back up with DASH.

- What were some picks made by others that you really liked?

The Fiend, Rhonda Rousey, pretty much all the Japanese workers. I really love the concept of the Undertaker in LU. AJ Styles and Randy Orton going so late.

- What were some picks made that puzzled you?

Cody in round 1, seems like he could have been gotten several rounds later. Orton and Cena not getting scooped up by a US based fed.

- What company other than your own would you be most likely to watch?

I would probably give every company a shot to see if they could keep me tuned in. Obviously all the Japanese feds.

- How do you see your promotion unfolding once you're able to play it?

We will certainly be the most dominate women's promotion but we do have a chance to be very successful if booked properly. If the AI protects our talent and does a decent job booking we can do great things, if not then my guess is that the top talent will get stolen away as there contracts run out and we will end up going under. TL/DR, basically if I book the fed we will be a strong national promotion, if the AI books the fed we will be out of business in 4 years.

Apologies for missing Sara willr0ck - my bad.

I think the IIconics work fine with your product by the way - Peyton is young and a good destiny roll will see her being a great pick-up. They are best used as the talking weasels of your fed - I would be very tempted to put Paul as a Manager for them and have them work as lackeys for him and Baszler if I was booking your fed.

By the by I get your reasoning on picking up Ruby - she's fine I just thought she was taken a little early. There were a few women with a better up side for mine who you ended up missing out on like Rhea Ripley for instance that I would have picked before her but she's by no means a terrible pick at that slot.

- What was your goal in drafting your roster?

Going into the draft i had the idea of drafting four young workers, giving them their own stable and building around them trying to overcome the top vet. I managed to lock Tanahashi up as the vet (basically Jumbo to the four pillars) but missed out on two of my original picks (Miyahara and Takeshita) for the next generation. I deviated and moved to three stables with T-Hawk and Nakajiima being two of my original choices and Endo replacing Takeshita.

- What pick(s) were you most excited about?

Tanahashi, Nakajima and T-Hawk were all integral but i'm also super excited about HARASHIMA (so i can continue his feud with Tanahashi) and Shingo Takagi.

- Are there any picks you regret?

If i could go back in time i probably would've picked Miyahara first and Tanahashi in the next round.

- What were some picks made by others that you really liked?

Uncrewed getting Psycho Clown so late in the game and basically all the Japanese picks because i probably wanted them as well.

- What were some picks made that puzzled you?

Eh i'm sure everyone had a reason for drafting who they drafted.

- What company other than your own would you be most likely to watch?

Probably PROGRESS and FMW

- How do you see your promotion unfolding once you're able to play it?

Tanahashi will basically be the big boss of the company with all the younger talent fighting to overcome him. Ibushi and HARASHIMA will get into a big feud as well. Shingo will always be around to tempt and manipulate, i hear he has an eye on Lindaman...

Now that im finally gettin to sit up again, im able to talk about my draft experience. Also i want to thank everyone for the nice reactions i got. A big shout out to Alpha though for helping that quick!

- What was your goal in drafting your roster?

I did think about doing mexico but the lack of competition made me switch to UK. I didnt want to pick a mindless lucha fed and the prospect of building Progress was exciting. Progress is one of my favorite Promotions.

I wanted to build a Strong Stlye focused roster in a more international variant but still keep the british und european influence.

- What pick(s) were you most excited about?

Gettin the first 6 picks was fantastic. But gettin Ishii at 12 and John Cena at 21 was pure gold.

- Are there any picks you regret?

No. This time im really happy although i understand the criticism about my Tony Khan decision.

- What were some picks made by others that you really liked?

I will pick my favorite wrestler from every draft although there are maybe more i really like.

Uncrewed: Undertaker in the Temple... that is so sick.

willr0ck: Im a Tessa Blanchard Guy!

CreeperGav: Cesaro, i really wanted him.

Juanster: Ciampa period.

Larrikn: Ibushi but really hard to choose.

LucianCarter: Mercedes Martinez.

GooseRobb: Nick Aldis. How could i let slip him.

southside_hitmen: Awesome Roster. KENTA.

DrA.: That Roster again. WALTER. Another guy i let slip.

- What were some picks made that puzzled you?

Its difficult to criticize somebody cause everybody reached their goal. I maybe would have done AEW a bit different cause its so near at the original roster.

- What company other than your own would you be most likely to watch?

So many good stuff to watch. LU and the japanese stuff is on my toplist though. Nevertheless i will check out every promotion. Good Job everyone.

- How do you see your promotion unfolding once you're able to play it?

It will be a tough fight with DEFIANT because their roster is so stacked. I still think we can outlast them in the long run cause of our financial power. Im pretty excited about the Strong Style Love Alliance with Wrestle-1. Besides that im really happy to watch the japanese and us massacre from a far point. Will be pretty interesting to see who comes out on top.

- What was your goal in drafting your roster?

Create a "wrestling potpourri" type roster similar to FMW's big shows in their later stages of the 90's. Some deathmatch, with some high-level Joshi, some "style battle" technical matches and some goofy lucha fun.

- What pick(s) were you most excited about?

Kento and Naito with the first 2 picks, Kenoh, Nomura, KENTA, Mio Momono, Sakura Hirota

- Are there any picks you regret?

Goto maybe? Like NJPW I'm a little unsure what to do with him

- What were some picks made by others that you really liked?

Uncrewed: La Sombra, Velveteen Dream, Bandido, PCO

willr0ck: Kana, Hojo, Ember Moon, DASH

Tardelli/Alpha: Nakamura, Ishii, Dragunov

CreeperGav: Uso's, Revival, Hero

Juanster: Aleister Black, Fenix, Gargano

Larrikn: Ibushi, Shingo, Nakajima, Go

LucianCarter: Flair, Nikki Storm

Dr_Avalanche: Everyone, really... everyone. Kodaka, Roooooosh, WALTER, Hino

GooseRobb: Punk, Sheamus, Buddy Murphy

- What were some picks made that puzzled you?

All the below not necessarily puzzling as they all fit the product, but maybe going earlier than I expected in the draft. That said, everyone has their reasons...

Uncrewed: Gable

willr0ck: Su Yung

Tardelli/Alpha: Tony Khan

CreeperGav: Ziggler

Juanster: Cody

Larrikn: T-Hawk

LucianCarter: AJ Lee

Dr_Avalanche: Kodaka (but it was a killer pick as I would of totally grabbed him at some point if available)

GooseRobb: JBL

- What company other than your own would you be most likely to watch?

BWF - Okada, Omega, Styles for the top of the card. The Joshi picks are firmly in my lane, and I can stream it all on BWF World

W-1 - I NEED an AXIZ vs. Ibushi/Tana match in my life. Make it happen Larrikn :)

SHINE - High-level women's wrestling with some Joshi sprinkled in. Sign me up.

LU - LAX vs. Mexa Blood... yup

- How do you see your promotion unfolding once you're able to play it?

Lots of variety. Ton of Joshi talents to pick up and add to the division. We blow up the ring at some point. Kento wins everything, always...

(To this effect, should have a "showcase" card up at some point today too)

FMW Showcase Card

Ch%C5%8D_Sent%C5%8D_Puroresu_FMW.jpg

Live from Fujitsu Stadium Kawasaki (formerly known as Kawaskai Baseball Stadium - Home of the FMW Anniversary Shows)

Shown Live on FMW TV

(Onita has mentioned you can pay for FMW TV via PayPal, Venmo, mail-order check, or his preferred, carrier-pigeon)

----------

Opener - Six Women Tag Team Match

Miyu Yamashita, Misaki Ohata & Hiroyo Matsumoto vs. Chihiro Hashimoto, Sakura Hirota & Mio Momono

Aces abound on one side.

Hash, Hirota, Momono might be my new favorite 6-person team.

Hash brings the power, Momono the speed/techincal brilliance, and Hirota the comedy as she convinces you she not a good technical wrestler even though she really, really is.

----------

Special Six Man Tag Team Match - Toshiaki Kawada Official Retirement Match

Toshiaki Kawada, Joe Doering & Hiroki Goto vs. a reformed NEXTREAM (Jake Lee, Naoya Nomura & Yuma Aoyagi)

NEXTREAM get the band back together and Kawada (my favorite all-time) goes out on his back to Nomura

----------

FMW World Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Championship

SHO & YOH vs. KENTA & Naomichi Marafuji vs. Rey Mysterio & Jushin Thunder Liger

Triple threat junior tag to hit our quota of triple threats for any big showcase card - CHECK

Reformed KENTA & Marafuji tag team - CHECK

Mysterio & Liger in a team - CHECK, CHECK, CHECK

----------

FMW World Junior Heavyweight Championship

Hiromu Takahashi vs. Dragon Lee

It's a re-tread, but what a re-tread it is.

These two are magic together.

Who pulls the bunny out of the hat this time (or is it a cat)?

----------

FMW Six Man Street Fight Tag Team Championship - No-Rope Barbed Wire Time Bomb Double Hell Deathmatch

Atsushi Onita, Masato Tanaka & Jun Kasai vs. Minoru Suzuki, Daisuke Sekimoto & Kevin Steen

What, you thought Onita wouldn't put himself on the card? Just be lucky it's not the main event

The old guard is there to bleed and sell.

Suzuki tortures them, Sekimoto tries to dislocate backs and hips via suplexes, Steen jumps off high things into broken things

----------

WWA Women's Championship

Meiko Satomura vs. Mayu Iwatani

Joshi's final boss puts Mayu through the seven circles of hell.

Mayu fights brilliantly, but facing a top 3 wrestler on the planet (notice I didn't say women's wrestler) is too much.

Probably ends with a Scorpio Rising after a Death Valley Bomb :)

----------

FMW Brass Knuckles Tag Team Championship

LIJ (Tetsuya Naito & SANADA) vs. The Violent Giants (Shuji Ishikawa & Suwama)

Best tag team in the world vs. LIJ.

Naito and SANADA have so much swag...

----------

Main Event - FMW Double Championship

Kento Miyahara vs. The Rock

Oh, the selling in this match would be otherwordly...

The Rock drops the People’s Elbow right into a Kento Shutdown German Suplex Hold.

And we have a new biggest wrestling star on the planet

Well if we are posting show's I'll give it a go.

Just a disclaimer: There will not be as much insanity as the FMW show above.

SHINE Wrestling

Presents

Genesis

Live from The Spectrum Center in Charlotte, NC

Available on SHINE Global

======================================

Opener - Singles Match

RISE U-30 Championship

Toni Storm vs Tessa Blanchard w/Ric Flair

*Potential match of the night candidate opens the show to get the crowd pumped

======================================

Tag Team Match

The Glamazons (Beth Phoenix & Dana Brooke) vs Tap-Out (Marina Shafir & Jessamyn Duke) w/ Paul Heyman

*Power vs Technique - Beth Phoenix calls the match and gets the best out of the noobies

======================================

Tag Team Match

RISE U-30 Tag Team Championship

Britt Baker & Deonna Purazzo vs WDSS (Mia Yim & Kay Lee Ray)

*A solid showcase for the future of the company. And I realize Mia turned 30 this year so the rules for the titles can be modified to 30 and under

======================================

Tag Team Ladder Match

SHINE Tag Team Championship

MoonGlow (Ember Moon & Naomi) vs The IIconics (Billie Kay & Peyton Royce) w/Ric Flair

*Ember and Naomi can be athletic and jump off sh%t and Peyton, Billie and Flair can heel it up

======================================

3 Way Dance

SHINE Nova Championship

Shayna Baszler w/Paul Heyman vs Madison Rayne vs Ruby Riott

*I paired Shayna w/Heyman specifically to create my female Brock. She's not quite ME level on this roster so this match is a good stepping stone to moving her up the card. She can have a nice, long title reign and Madison and Ruby are solid workers to conquer.

======================================

Six Man Tag Team Streetfight

Su Yung, Aja Kong and DASH Chisoku w/Maryse vs Kairi Hojo, Santana Garrett & Allie

*When you have DASH and Aja Kong in a tag team you have to bring out the weapons. Su Yung is nuts so why not bring her in too. Hojo, Garrett and Allie are perfect white meat babyfaces to come in and take a beating. This match kicks off my feud between Kana's stable and Kairi Hojo

======================================

Semi-Main Event - 30 Minute Iron Woman Match

#1 Contender For The SHINE Championship

Kana w/Maryse vs Sasha Banks

*No explanation needed. Should be an instant classic

======================================

Main Event - 3 Way Dance

SHINE Championship

Becky Lynch vs Alexa Bliss w/Ric Flair vs Dakota Kai

*Dakota Kai obviously had to be added after the mystery box made her the most over wrestler in the country. Lynch is obviously the centerpiece of the company and Bliss and Flair get to heel it up. (Flair is good at heeling it up, what can I say)

Just a disclaimer: There will not be as much insanity as the FMW show above.

Who needs insanity when you have at least 3 main event level matches for any women's fed in the world?

Also, great to see Three-Way Dances as a key part of the show. I'm always a big fan of elimination matches.

Really nice set up. I'll have to work out my first PPV too.

I too am a fan of the 3 Way Dance. Not so much triple threat matches.

And you had me right there.

Is it sad that this was the match I was most excited about.

going thru my roster...I'm definitely going to need to find some ppl either to poach or thru the free agent scene..I was hoping to build up my tag team division to somewhat be competitive but with stuff going on personally I lost focus and kinda stumpled midway thru the draft..definitely going to be a tough task to get thru but hopefully I can turn the fortune around

Pro-Wrestling’s past faces pro-wrestling’s future in this generational clash, many have high hopes for Umino as he returns to Japan, some going as far as calling him a future ace. If he hopes to reach these lofty goals he’ll have to overcome the Wrestling Genius here. </p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Stronghearts (CIMA, Shigehiro Irie & Seiki Yoshioka) vs. Masato Yoshino, Naruki Doi & Kaito Ishida</strong></p><p> </p><p>

<em>-Betrayer Battle Series I-</em></p><p> </p><p>

The first of three “betrayer” battles on the card, the former Dragon Gate stars Yoshino, Doi & Ishida will face off against CIMA, the man who left them behind taking with him several promising talents. Accompanying CIMA is his newfound protégés Irie and Yoshioka who will be eager to prove themselves and the strength of Stronghearts. </p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Stronghearts (T-Hawk & El Lindaman) vs. Shingo Takagi & YAMATO </strong></p><p> </p><p>

<em>-Betrayer Battle Series II-</em></p><p> </p><p>

The second match in the betrayer series see’s Takagi and YAMATO reuniting their legendary tag team to face two of their former protégés, T-Hawk and Lindaman are set to be a big part of the future in Wrestle-1 but first they’ll have to deal with the baggage they thought they had left behind. </p><p> </p><p>

<strong>DREAMS (HARASHIMA & Tetsuya Endo) vs. Kota Ibushi & Jun Akiyama</strong></p><p> </p><p>

<em>-Betrayer Battle Series III-</em></p><p> </p><p>

Leading into this match HARASHIMA has been hurling a number of insults towards Ibushi both for leaving DDT in the dust but more importantly for refusing Endo and HARASHIMA’s invitation to join DREAMS. Ibushi seems unphased by this, turning to a fellow “turncoat” in Akiyama to help face his former friend. </p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Hiroshi Tanahashi, Shinsuke Nakamura [PROGRESS] & Katsuyori Shibata vs. AXIZ (Katsuhiko Nakajima, Go Shiozaki & Takashi Sugiura)</strong></p><p><strong>

</strong></p><p>

<em>-Katsuyori Shibata Return Match-</em></p><p> </p><p>

When Shibata was cleared to return to in-ring competition many fans had wondered what his first match should be, but seemingly Shibata has known from the start that he wished to reunite with his Three Musketeer brethren. Thanks to Wrestle-1’s relationship with PROGRESS we are able to arrange this match up. Of course, AXIZ hope to spoil the return and stake their own claim as the top talent in Wrestle-1.</p><p>

Any chance this still happens tonight? Need to schedule some sleep at some point :)

Working on popularity right now. Hoping to have tag teams and stables in by the time I go to sleep.

My advice, get some sleep! I'll probably have it out by the end of the day.

Thank you! Great Work. Also happy new year mate. One small thing. Alliance between Wrestle-1 and PROGRESS isnt set up. The Alliance is called Strong Style Love and is a trade alliance.

Thanks, will be fixed in the next patch. Thankfully y'all have a working agreement, so that should be fine for now.
