Professional Fighters League: Road to the Million

Recommended Posts

Hello my friends

I recently had a problem with my noot and lost my data from my PFL dynasty I was working on and now everything is ok ... I'm back.

I was thinking about a UFC or Bellator dynasty, but the PFL style, I think it's really cool and even though I still don't have the best fighters, I decided to do it again.

I start from the third season and I will do as I was planning in my last dynasty.

I hope you like it and keep following.

PROFESSIONAL FIGHTERS LEAGUE

The Professional Fighters League (PFL), formerly the World Series of Fighting (WSOF), is a mixed martial arts league. It is the first professional MMA organization to present MMA in a format in which individual athletes compete in a regular season, “win-or-go-home” post-season, and championship. PFL debuted its inaugural season on June 7, 2018 at Hulu Theater at Madison Square Garden in New York, NY. In 2018, each champion in the six weight classes won a championship prize of $1 million each.

Fight Format and Point System

PFL uses the Unified Rules of Mixed Martial Arts regulated by the Nevada State Athletic Commission. The League uses a unique ten-sided (decagon) cage for their events.

The eight fighters with the most points in each weight class advance will advance to the playoff rounds. The point system consists of outcome-based scoring and bonuses for an early win. Under the outcome-based scoring system, the winner of a fight receives three points and the loser receives zero points. If the fight ends in a draw, both fighters will receive one point. The bonus for winning a fight in the first, second, or third round is three points, two points, and one point, respectively. For example, if a fighter wins a fight in the first round, the fighter will receive six total points.

RULES

WEIGHT CLASSES

The announcement of the divisions and the cast will be made at a press conference to be held.

NUMBER OF FIGHTERS

There will be 12 fighters per division.

INJURIES AND REPLACEMENTS

PFL will have a pool of alternate fighters to draw from in the event that one of the 12 fighters in each division suffers an injury that prevents him from continuing.

- Alternates will make show/win amounts and their fights will count towards the final playoff totals.

- In the event that one of the 12 fighters is deemed ineligible for his first fight, the 13th fighter will be added as a replacement.

- In the event that the commission deems fighter A unfit to compete, the PFL will book an alternate fighter to compete against fighter B. In the event that there is no time to book an alternate, fighter B will be awarded a Walkover (three points) as well as his win.

MISSING WEIGHT

If an athlete misses weight for a regular season fight, they will forfeit 15 percent of their purse. The athlete will still be able to compete – contingent up other fighter agreeing – but will earn zero points for that match.

If that athlete misses weight a second time during the regular season, they will be removed from the competition for the season.

If the Athletic Commission calls off a fight – for any reason – the fighter who is unable to compete will earn zero points while their opponent, will be awarded a three points.

Walkover example: Fighter A is facing fighter B in the first round of the regular season.

Fighter A becomes ill and is not medically cleared to fight by the state athletic commission. If a suitable replacement opponent is not secured, Fighter B will be awarded three points.

Any fighter that fails to make their contracted weight during the playoff or championship round will be ruled ineligible and removed from the competition. The next seeded alternate (9,10,11,12,alternate fighter) will be summoned to join the season and take the fight.

SEASON SCORING

Scoring is calculated as follows (Points awarded is first number):

WIN:

Knockout/Submission - 3 Points

Unanimous Decision - 3 Points

Split Decision - 3 Points

Walkover - 3 Points

Draw - 1 Point

LOSS:

Decision - 0 Points

Other than Decision - 0 Points

Three Round Fights:

Round 1 - 3 Points

Round 2 - 2 Points

Round 3 - 1 Points

REGULAR SEASON TO PLAYOFF TIEBREAKERS

In the event that two or more fighters are tied in number of points after their two regular season bouts, we will go to the following tie breakers in order to set the playoff seeding accordingly.

1. Head to Head (Did you already beat your tied opponent?)

2. Number of Wins and Losses

3. Number of finishes

4. Least amount of time spent in the cage (when winning)

PROFESSIONAL FIGHTERS LEAGUE - SEASON 2020 PRESS CONFERENCE

This afternoon the PFL held the 2020 season press conference.

Professional Fighters League president Ray Sefo announced the new season.

Among the news for this season is the addition of the men's Flyweight division and the Women's Featherweight division, which Sefo analyzed during the conference.

"Yes, that Flyweight addition was great, we got good fighters to participate in the season and we managed to get Kayla Harrison to take part in a division below and with that we will have a female division for another consecutive year."

Among the novelties for this season were announced large signings of well-known names such as Ronda Rousey, Cain Velasquez, Nick Diaz, Rory MacDonald, Alexander Gustaffson, Gilbert Melendez, Mark Hunt, Kyoji Horiguchi among others and Sefo spoke about the power of PFL in adding great available MMA fighters.

"With each passing season we bring in other fighters to increase the level of competition in the quest for the million, and that also leaves the fighters motivated to come here, and we hope that the next season will be even better for what is to come."

Sefo also announced the PFL "fight night" events that will be held starting this season.

"These events will be held for fighters who will be able to enter at any time during the season as replacements, in case of injury, as a qualifier for upcoming seasons and of course to discover new talent for the PFL squad."

Still on the "Fight Night" events, Sefo confirmed that he will have fights in divisions that are not this season.

"Yes, we are going to work with all the weight divisions including those that are not in this season, especially the women's divisions so that in the following season we have at least two divisions in dispute."

The season will start in February and will have all fights broadcast on ESPN+, featuring Michael Schiavello and Randy Couture and complete coverage with pre fight / post fight and play-by-play reviews on the blurcat.com website.

He gets side control of it! Magomedov tries to ensnare Njokuani in an arm triangle. Njokuani fights off the arm triangle attempt. Magomedov attempts the mount. He doesn't get the mount, but only because Njokuani rolled over and gave up his back instead. Magomedov increases his control by getting both hooks in. Magomedov fires away and manages to connect with two or three heavy shots that rock Njokuani! We pass the halfway mark of this round. With both hooks in, Magomedov tries to flatten Njokuani out for the rear naked choke. The rear naked choke is in deep, Njokuani has to tap out! By submission, the winner is Abusupiyan Magomedov!

Bagautinov is trying to push Camus so that his back is up against the cage. Bagautinov does it, Camus is stuck with his back to the cage. With the cage trapping Camus, Bagautinov tries to set up a suplex. A suplex blasts Camus into the ground. Camus winds up seated, his back to the cage, with Bagautinov pressing onto him. Not liking his options, Bagautinov looks to get a better position over Camus. Bagautinov shifts his position brilliantly to get mount! Bagautinov tries to ensnare Camus in an armbar. I think Radzhabov took that round, 10-9 on my score card.

Noons slips past a right hook attempt and attacks with a right cross. Noons comes forward, walking down Radzhabov. Noons avoids a jab and is able to move into the pocket. A jab lands from Noons but Radzhabov evades a big right punch. Both fighters come together and strike. Noons dodges a right hand and counter-attacks with a jab and a right hand to the body that is too short. Noons, who looks very tired, gets grabbed by Radzhabov. Noons gets caught with a couple of nice short punches as Radzhabov uses his dirty boxing to inflict some punishment. Time expires and we come to the end of round two. Good round, that's the sort of action we like to see.

That round goes to Noons, 10-9 on my card.

I think Cooper III took that round, 10-9 on my score card.

Here come the official scores.

The judges have scored it 30-27, 29-28 and 29-28.

So the winner, by unanimous decision, is Ray 'Bradda Boy' Cooper III!

Welterweight Bout: Rory MacDonald (21-6-1) vs. Ben Askren (19-2-1 NC)

Round 1

They spend the next minute in that position, hitting each other with short punches to the body and side of the head. Unable to get free, MacDonald is smothered up against the cage. The next sixty seconds sees them doing very little other than throwing occasional short punches to the body. With no progress being made, the referee separates them. I have to give that round to Askren, but only a 10-9.

Round 2

There's the bell and round number two begins! Askren had looked like he was angling for a takedown attempt, but couldn't take the initiative. Stepping in, MacDonald throws four quick punches, three of which land, but misses with a vicious right hand. Setting it up with excellent timing, Askren comes forward and shoots for the takedown. Perhaps wary of submissions, MacDonald keeps extremely tight to Askren and peppers him with short punches. The time runs out on round two.

That has to go down as a 10-9 round to Askren.

I have Askren ahead 20-18.

Round 3

And here we go, round three! Askren looked like he was going to shoot, but MacDonald simply took the initiative first. A quick flurry of punches from MacDonald sees five of five hit home and then scores with a right cross that landed hard. There's a very quick takedown attempt from Askren. I have to give that round to Askren, but only a 10-9.
